My take on the monster described at the end of jrwi ep.114!
The name is entirely un-official, but it was such a good critter, it looked like it needed a good name and some friends helped me come up with it. If it ever gets an official name, I’ll change it!

!ep 114 riptide spoilers under the cut!
One of the best moments in the episode for me was when Destiny's Blade materialised in Gillion's hand and spoke the words, "Chip is about to die."
I swear, I could feel time stop for Gillion. It felt like I was watching a movie or an anime, where there's a brief half second of breathless tension, where the camera pans in really close to the character. And then he /bolts/. There's no hesitation, he instinctively races to save Chip, burning up all his energy and resources just to reach him.
Even as he himself is in no condition to be saving anyone - a foot already at death's door - he bursts through and manages to somehow rescue him, all without keeling over.
I have a soft spot for all the Riptide pirates, but Gillion Tidestrider has my whole fucking heart. Yes, his terribly militarized upbringing has so much to do with how he acts, but this moment had nothing to do with him being a weapon for destruction. Gillion 'The One' Tidestrider didn't put himself in grave danger out of a sense of duty or honour. He materialised in that room because he saw someone he cared for almost bite the dust (again). He was willing to throw his whole life away, not recklessly, not to fulfill some vague prophecy, but because he wanted his best friend to live on to achieve what they'd fought so long and so hard for.
Gillion Tidestrider is a product of his environment, fighting and striving so hard to be a hero because that's what he was always meant to do. And yet, no prophecy or divine calling could make him fight as fiercely or as desperately as when he fights for the people he loves.

okay kind of going insane about:
RAFT has the ability to clone Gillion
Gillion has features that are not normal for a triton and does not actually know how he was born
“A sea god’s last egg”
They are trying to make an artificial leviathan
I AM THINKING ABOUT THE IMPLICATIONS

The artificial leviathan thing is actually so fucked up.
( spoilers for EP 114 so don't read if you haven't watched that yet )
I just realized how fucked up the artificial leviathan thing actually is.
And like yeah obviously it's fucked up they're creating a creature to fight in a war against the undersea that's fucked up to begin with yes.
But first of all we learned that this was something they planned to do after signing a treaty with the undersea. They planned to be friends, to have them trust them first before going through with this plan. They planned on creating an alliance just to break it.
Now the especially fucked up part is the artifial leviathan tho. Because yes it is just a very powerful creature in general. Massive creature that can destroy masses of soldiers easily if under the control of the navy.
But the Leviathans are also like gods to the undersea. They worship them. They love them. Part of gillions oath is that he has to pay them respect, both in life and in death.
They're powerful beasts to use against the undersea not only because of their physical power but also because of what they mean to the people of the undersea.
Even if a Leviathan attacked them, they couldn't fight back. They couldn't just kill it, even if they had the power. It turns it into a fight not based on physical power alone but also unbearable choices.
They decided to take what the undersea looks up to and loves the most and turn it into a weapon to use against them. And that's so so fucked up the more you think about it.
