You know what I am going to make an (unreasonably long) post about how Jonatha Byers is autistic and no one can stop me
1. The "I don't think he speaks" line.
A lot of autistic people don't talk a lot (especially with people they aren't close with) and the implication that Jonathan doesn't speak almost at all in school make me see him as autistic
2. Him being an outcast
He doesn't have any friends, at all. Most autistic people really struggle in making friends and are looked down upon for their autistic traits which leads to bullying in a lot of cases
3. The entire dark room scene
First if he says that people don't always say what they mean and he prefers observing them, which is so autistic. He also very much have a special interest in photography like he knows a lot about it and likes talking about it, that also make the fact the he doesn't take any pictures in season four more sad because losing interest in your special interest is one of the hardest things
4. He stims, all the time
When he an Will listened to music in season one, every time he bounce his leg, biting his nails ex, that's stimming
5. He likes quite
He doesn't like crowded places, or loud ones. Autistim!
In conclusion Jonathan Byers is autistic

Be with you (Part One)
Jonathan Byers x reader
Warnings: Fluff, (pretend reader is Nancy), kissing, small angst, tension, clearly they like each other so just like fuck already (lol), hint to smut but not yet
Summary: Jonathan and you go on a trip together, as friends right? What could possibly go wrong? After sharing a hotel room, years of tension and feelings errupt and consume everyone around, that being Jonathan Byers.
if you want tagged, comment and tell me or just message me and I will tag you in the next part :)
Tumblr media
Jonathan Byers was always a mystery. He was quiet and observed everyone, half the time people didn't realize he was in the room. But you did. The Byers family was strange to some people. Crazy Joyce when Will went missing and Jonathan being in a fight with Steve Harrington. But the one thing about the Byers, they love hard. They love unconditionally.
So when Jonathan said he had to make a trip to Indiana City or wherever he had said, you didn't think much of it. You even offered to go with him, keep him company. Now to today, it was the day we left. We had a lot of miles to cover so we headed out early.
"Jonathan, I swear to God I am going to kill you," You yelled. It was eight in the morning.
"It's a two day drive. Let's get a move on," He yelled back. A duffel back slung over his shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah. Tell it to someone who gives a shit."
You finally get on the road and the car is silent. Other than the soft rock music playing on the radio, it's dead silent.
"Jonathan?"
"Yeah?"
"Why are we even going?"
"I have to buy something for a girl I know," He says, eyes focused on the road.
We sat in silence again. It hurt to think about Jonathan with another girl. Knowing his small crush he had on Nancy Wheeler a while back, you felt like this trip was for her. You were just riding with him. Jonathan was not your boyfriend and he never will be. That's how it is. You love him from afar and he loves Nancy Wheeler from afar. We both love someone, but they don't realize it.
We take turns driving, Jonathan first then you. You sang along to the music and Jonathan laughed at your off-key notes. You challenged him to do better and was surprised at the fact he was a good singer. That made you fall for him even more.
"Hey, Jonathan?"
"Yes," He said, sleepily.
"Do you ever wonder what it would be like to be with me? Y'know, like how everyone has been telling us for years to get together."
"Uh, I mean I used to think about it but other than that, no not really."
Ouch, that hurt. You had been friends since you were three so everyone thought you would end up married or at least dating. Nope. We finally called it quits after nine hours of driving and found a small hotel to stay at.
"Two rooms please," Jonathan said.
"No problem kids."
The room was nice. Everything was neat and cute. Little did you know, Jonathan harbored feelings for you. You were in your room and decided to take a shower.
Jonathan was pacing back and forth in his room. He had been thinking about your question. And he had lied to you and himself. He did think about being with you. Of course he did, but he couldn't because you thought of him as a friend.
Sitting in the shower, you think about how Jonathan basically only thought of you as a friend. Of course he would. Everyone did. He liked Nancy. You stayed in the shower for about a hour before getting out.
Dinner with Jonathan was great. You talked a lot about what you wanted in relationships and how you can't find anyone who is good enough.
"You deserve way better than any guy in Hawkins," Jonathan said.
"What if there is a boy I did want?"
"Well, since you are not with him and he is stupid to not notice your feelings for him so easily then he ain't worth it."
"Jonatha-"
"No, I mean it. You're a great girl and you deserve the best. The best of the best. Hell, the best of the best of the best. If that makes sense," He laughed.
"Jonathan-"
"You are my best friend and I will not allow you to date anyone who is not worth it or does not treat you right."
"Jonathan Byers, listen to me."
"I'm sorry, go on."
"What if the boy I wanted was my best friend?" you ask.
"Then you better tell him because he is defintely missing out."
You look at him funny and then get up to leave.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to bed."
"Hey, what if I want someone who is my best friend?" Jonathan asked, quickly.
"Better tell that lucky girl. I am sure Nancy be happy." You say before going to your room.
Laying in bed, it was hard to fall asleep. You kept thinking his words. "You better tell him...." Should you tell him? No, of course not. You couldn't. You loved him more than anything and you had just told him to tell Nancy how he feels.
Jonathan laid in bed and stared at the ceiling. He couldn't stop thinking of your words. He told you to tell your best friend how you felt. What if he just lost you? He tried to shut his mind down and go to sleep. No sucess.
You tossed and turned, your mind racing over a million miles an hour. You looked at the clock and read that it was late in the night. Why did you have to tell him what you were thinking? Fuck it. You had to tell him.
You get up and walk to the door. What if this was a bad idea? No, you had to. You place your hand on the door knob. You wince, what if this was a really bad idea? You turn the knob and find Jonathan standing right there.
"Couldn't sleep," You say.
"Me either. Maybe it's because of the terrible beds?"
"Maybe. Anyways goodnight." You say and go back into your room.
You walk to the bed and sit on it. You stare at the unmoving door. You stare at it as if it offended you. Fuck this. You get up and find Jonathan walking back to his room.
"Jonathan?"
"Yeah-"
You cut him off with a kiss. Grabbing his shoulders and sliding your lips in sync. You kiss him like he was your oxygen. He melts into the kiss and grabs your hips to pull you closer. He pulls away, leaning his forehead onto yours. He pants into your parted lips and tries to catch his breath.
"Wo-"
"Don't talk. Shush." You press a finger to his lips.
Lips pressed against each other again, passion flows deep like a river. A river that has been held back by a dam for too long, cracks breaking the foundation allowing the river to flood through. Your hands move to his hair and you pull him closer to you.
"I-"
"Shush, let's just enjoy this."
Jonathan pulls you in again and you groan into his warm mouth. He tastes like mint and coffee. Not your favorite but now, it was intoxicating. You wanted more. You walk backwards to your room and shut the door, Jonathan's lips still on yours.

what do you think the older teens (nancy jonathan robin steve argyle) would react to byler
ok,these are just my headcanons
Jonathan would be totally supportive of his little brother but annoyed that he chose Mike out of all the people he could have(he's part of the Mike Wheeler Hate Club with Max and Hopper).
Steve tries to give relationship advices that neither of them follow, while Robin is just so excited when she hears the news. She always offers support because she doesn't want them to feel as scared and lonely as she was.
argyle doesn't make a big deal out of it but is happy that the young byers has finally found someone that makes him happy.
Nancy and Mike have a heart to heart about it,she tells him about her experience with Steve and Jonatha. She ends up being the person Mike always goes to when he needs relationships advices(Steve is pissed about it,because as long as he knows HE's the relationship guru of the situation)

CHAPTER EIGHT | THE MIND FLAYER
gif not mine. credit to owner.
word count: 2,375
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the woods, Jennifer and Steve, along with the kids continue down the train tracks, grouped together. Tears well up in her eyes again, that gut wrenching feeling of leaving Wilhelmina at the junkyard made Jennifer sick to her stomach, looking down at her bloodsoaked self.
“You’re positive that was Dart?” Lucas asks.
“Yes. He had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt.”
“He was tiny two days ago.”
“Well, he’s molted three times already.”
“Malted?” Steve asks.
“Molted.” Dustin says. “Shed his skin to make room for growth like hornworms.”
“W... when is he gonna molt again?” Jennifer stammers, cutting in.
“It’s gotta be soon. When he does, he’ll be fully grown, ot close to it. And so will his friends.”
“Yeah, and he’s gonna eat a lot more than just cats.”
Lucas stops Dustin.
“Wait. A cat?” He asks. “Dart ate a cat?”
“What? No.” Dustin lies.
What are you talking about? He ate Mews.”
“Mews? Who’s Mews?” Max asks.
“It’s Dustin’s cat.”
“I knew it! You kept him!”
Dustin tried to deny it, beginning to argue as Jennifer and Steve look at each other annoyed. Max joins in on the argument too as the brunette female and Steve take a few steps forward, noticing something.
“Hey guys,” Steve calls. “Guys!”
Jennifer furrows her brows at the kids before looking back. Steve slings the spiked bat over his shoulder and Jennifer wipes away the tears, heading toward the sound. Lucas and Dustin follow behind as Max lingers on the tracks before jogging after the other's. Later, the five of them tramp through a clearing. Steve, Lucas, and Dustin shine flashlights ahead as they come to a hilltop overlooking the dense forest and glowing city lights beyond.
“I don’t see him.”
Lucas peers through his binoculars.
“It's the lab. They were going back home.”
Jennifer stands there, grabbing Steve’s arm, worried what might happen next as they continue, walking down the slope leading towards Hawkins Laboratory. The enter through the group of shrubs and trees, moving closer before walking out as someone in the distance calls out to them. Flashlight beams from the woods as Jennifer, Steve and the kids exit, stepping into view. They see Nancy and Jonathan.
“Steve?” They ask in unison.
“Nancy?” Jennifer asks.
“Jonathan,” Dustin says.
“What are you doing here?” Nancy asks.
“What are you doing here?” Steve asks.
“We’re looking for Mike and Will.”
“They’re not in there, are they?”
“We’re not sure.”
“Why?”
In the distance, monsters screech as Steve and Jennifer look over at the darkened lab. Soon everyone turns too. The emergency lights turn on and off. A look of dread settles on Jonathan’s face.
“Shit.” Jennifer curses, stepping towards it.
Nancy turns to Jennifer, looking her over. "What happened to you?" She asks.
"Wilhelmina... she-- she died back there after being attacked by those... those creatures."
"Oh, Jennifer. I'm sorry for your loss."
Soon indistinct chatter is heard amongst everyone as Jennifer rolls her tired eyes. Nancy pushes past them, joining Jennifer in her spot.
“The powers back,” She says.
The chatter stops as the group rushes toward the guard booth, the light now on as Jonatha repeatedly pushes the button as Dustin pushes his way into the booth. He pushes the button too, but nothing happens. Sudden;y the gate opens as the curly haired kid grins. Jonathan and Nancy enter his parked car, driving past the open gate as Jennifer and Steve along with Max, Lucas, and Dustin wait along the outside.
Max spots something as two vehicles approach them. They move out of the way as Jonathan’s car speeds past them. Hopper’s SUV comes to a stop in front of them. Steve ushers the three kids inside as he helps Jennifer in, he gets in as well. The vehicle zooms off.
——
At the Byers residence, the porch light glows on the front porch as Jim’s SUV, Jonathan’s car and Bob’s car are parked outside. Inside, Will lays on the couch as Jonathan strokes his head. Jennifer and Steve watch Nancy rests her hand on his shoulder tenderly as Hopper taks on the phone. Jennifer pulls Steve into the kitchen where they wait, holding onto each other. The kids sit around the table.
“They didn’t believe, did they?”
“We’ll see.” He sternly says.
“”We’ll see?” We can’t just sit here while those things are loose!” Mike shouts.
“We stay here, and wait for help.” He says, not changing his expression before leaving the kitchen.
The dark haired boy’s brows furrow as he goes over to the games. He lifts a blue 3D cube from the top and gazes at it with a somber expression.
“Did you guys know that Bob was the original founder of Hawkins AV?” Mike says as the kids including Steve and Jennifer look at him, leaning against the counter top. “He petitioned the school to start it and everything. Then he had a fund-raiser for equipment. Mr. Clarke learned everything from him. Pretty awesome, right?”
“Yeah,” Lucas and Dustin say at the same time.
Mike sets the cube on the kitchen table. “We can’t let him die in vain.”
“Well, what do you wanna do, Mike?” Dustin asks. “The Chief’s right on this. We can’t stop those Demo-dogs on our own.”
“Demo-dogs?” Max asks, armed crossed.
They stare at the red haired female.
“Demogorgon, dogs. Together, Demo-dogs. It’s like a compound, play on words—”
“Okay.” Max cuts him off.
“I mean, when it was just Dart, maybe…”
“But there’s an army now.” Lucas says.
“Precisely.”
“His army.”
Jennifer and Steve look toward Mike, brows furrowed.
“What do you mean?” Steve and Jennifer ask in unison.
“His army. If we stop him, we could stop his army too.”
Mike rushes into Will’s room, and shows the other’s the drawing of the shadow monster.
“The shadow monster.”
“It got Will on the field. The doctor said it was like a virus, it infected him.”
“And so the virus, it’s connecting him to the tunnels?”
“To the tunnels, monsters, the Upside Down, everything.”
“Woah. Slow down.”
Mike continues.
“Okay, so, the shadow monsters inside everything. And if the vines feel something like, then so does Will.”
“And so does Dart.
“Like what Mr. Clarke taught us. The hive mind.”
“The hive mind?” Jennifer asks.
“A collective consciousness. It’s a super-organism.”
“And this is the thing that controls everything.”
“It’s the brain,” Jennifer finishes.
“Like the mind flayer.”
“What?” Everyone asks, confused.
Dustin takes out the game manual as Everyone from Steve and Jennifer to Lucas, Mike and Max to Hopper stand around the kitchen table. The dimly lit kitchen light shines above the book.
“What the hell is it?”
“It’s a monster from an unknown dimension. It’s so ancient that it doesn't even know it’s true home.” He explains, continuing.
“Oh, my god, none of this is real. This is just a kids’ game.” Hopper groans.
“No, it’s a manual. And it’s not for kids. And unless you  know something we don’t, then this is the best metaphor—”
“Analogy.”
“Analogy? That’s what you’re worried about? Fine. An analogy for understanding whatever the hell this is.”
“Okay, so this mind flamer thing—”
“Flayer. Mind flayer.”
Jennifer sighs before continuing.
“What does it want?”
“To conquer us, basically. It believes it’s the master race.”
Steve stammers. “Like the Germans?”
“Uh, the Nazis?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, the Nazis.”
“Uh… If the Nazis were from another dimension, totally. Uh, it views other races, like us, as inferior to itself.”
“It wants to spread and take over other dimensions.”
“We are talking about the destruction of our world as we know it.”
“That's great. That’s really great. Jesus!” Steve says, concerned.
He turns away as Jennifer watches before following after him. She watches as her boyfriend paces back and forth before stopping him, cupping his cheeks. Jennifer holds Steve’s gaze.
“Maybe we should do our date now since the world is ending.”
“No, not while demo-dogs are after us, or this mind flayer thing. We will get to that date, even if it’s in another life.”
He presses their lips together, holding each other for a while before pulling away. She brings him into her arms before heading back to the table.
“…We win.” Nancy says.
“Theoretically.”
Hopper grabs the book from Nancy’s hand as he glances at the page.
“Great. So how do you kill this thing? Shoot it with fireballs or something?”
“No Fire— No Fireballs.” Dustin chuckles. “Uh, you summon an undead army, uh, because… because zombies, you know, they don’t have brains, and the mind flayer, it… it… it likes brains. It's just a game. It’s a game.”
“What the hell are we doing here?”
“I thought we were waiting for your military backup.”
“We are!”
“How are they gonna stop this? You can’t just shoot this with guns.”
“You don’t know that! We don’t know anything!” Hop shouts.
“We know it’s already killed everybody in that lab.”
“We know the monsters are gonna molt again.”
“And we know that it’s only a matter of time before those tunnels reach this town.”
“They’re right.” Joyce says, voice almost hoarse.
Everyone turns to joyce. “We have to kill it..”
Jim Hopper approaches Joyce.
“I want to kill it.” She says.
“Me, too.”
“I—” Joyce begins.
“Me, too, Joyce, okay? But how do we do that? We don’t exactly know what we’re dealing with here.”
“No. But he does.”
Mike walks toward Will. The other’s close behind, looking at Will.
“If anyone knows how to destroy this thing, it’s Will. He’s connected to it. He’ll know its weakness.”
“I thought we couldn’t trust him anymore. That he’s a spy for the mind flayer now.”
“Yeah, but he can’t spy if he doesn’t know where he is.”
Later, Jim drags a lawnmower and tosses it in the yard. He drops a cardboard box outside then returns to the shed. Little by little, he unloads the compost, leaving a large pile of junk in the backyard. Inside the shed, Nancy pulls off strips of duct tape as Steve seccurs a brown tarp over the wall.
“Hey.” She says, catching his attention. “I saw you and Jennifer earlier in the kitchen. Her hands cupping your face — are you… are you guys, like, dating now?”
“Yeah,” He says, resting his arm above and looking down. “We are. Is there something wrong?”
“No, no. Of course not. I’m… I’m happy for you both. You guys look great together.”
Steve steps on the ladder. Later, Jennifer, Steve, Nancy and the kids smother the walls with cardboard, tin foil, newspaper and other materials as Nancy wraps one of the support posts as Max sets a chair covered in cardboard and duct tape against it. She puts another chair opposite the first.
In the house, Dustin stares out the kitchen window anxiously as he removes his hat, running his hand over his thick curly hair, passing Nancy. She is standing against the wall with her arms crossed, looking iver.
In the living room, Steve takes practice swings with the bat as Jennifer sits on the couch, watching and waiting. In the hallway, Lucas and Max sit across from each other. Steve stops swinging as Jennifer stands as he lowers the bat.
Before she could say anything, the lights above begin flickering as Nancy, Jennifer, Steve and Dustin look toward the backyard.
Sometime later, Jim bursts through the back door as he searches for something, grabbing a pen and an empty envelope, he rushes toward the table and sits down. He sighs.
“What happened?”
“I think he’s talking, just not with words.” Jim speaks, jotting a series of dots and a dash on the paper.
“What is that?”
“Morse code,” The kids and Jennifer say together.
“H-E-R-E. Will’s still in there. He’s talking to us.
Hopper gives Joyce a look. Inside, the radio beeps as Dustin writes it down, Lucas shouts to Nancy each letter.
C-L-O-S-E G-A-T-E
The gang in the kitchen reviewed the message.
“Close gate,” They say together.
Everyone perks up at the ringing phone and rushes toward it. Dustin grabs the phone and puts it back on the hook. Soon Jennifer walks over, grunting as she rips it off the wall and hurls it to the floor.
“Do you think he heard that?”
“It’s just a phone. It could be anywhere. Right?”
They all look towards Steve in their current standing positions. In the living room, the kids look outside. They clear the way and hold the hunting rifle towards Jonathan.
“Do you know how to use this?”
“What?”
Can you use this?” He asks.
“I can,” Jennifer says.
Jim tosses Jennifer the hunting rifle as she slides the bolt. The gun cocks. Standing with the whole group, Hopper and Jennifer aim their rifles at the living room windows. Screeches echo in the distance. Steve grips the handle of his bat as Lucas aims his slingshot. Mike wields a candle stick. They stare out the window before turning to the dining room window.
The bushes rustle outside the window as the group waits edgily. Snarling, they turn to the living room window, weapons ready. The monster groans as loud thuds are heard, the monster screeches again before it abruptly stops. Suddenly, a demo-dog is thrown into the living room as it slides across the floor lifeless.
It screeches as everyone screams in fear, holding their stances. His rifle trained on the creature, Hopper approaches slowly towards. He prods the creature with his foot as his head flops back.
He relaxes his grip on the gun. Soon, everyone swivels around as the door creaks, the bolt unlocks. Lucas, Jennifer and Hopper raise their weapons. The chief steps through them to the front of the group. The door chain slides off its track. Creaking open as someone enters. Their jeans are rolled up above their dirty sneakers.
Hopper lowers his gun. Eleven stands before them in dark clothes. Her eyes darken and hair slicked back, blood drips from her nose.
As the group gapes at her with shocked expressions, Mike moves towards the front beside the chief. Tears well in his eyes as they lock onto hers. The corners of his mouth curl up and Eleven returns his wistful smile.

Sleepover Fridays
JDM
The chirping of birds’ songs crawled inside the window into the room before the sun did. The sky outside was somewhere between gray and pale blue. Overcast. On any other time of the year it might indicate rain, but it was nearing summer. The walls and ceiling of the room moved with the reflection of the pool. The light reflected off was dim but grew with the rising sun.
The outside world was waking up, and soon the birds were joined by other woodland creatures and the sounds of cars already driving past. The house was empty except for the two of them in the bedroom. It wasn’t just their nakedness that made this more intimate. Somehow with them, it always was, more so than it had been with her.
Jonathan lay staring at the ceiling. Steve slept on his back, and it rose and fell softly with his breathing. Jonathan had already memorized all the beauty marks running down his shoulders to his back. Nancy had pale skin, but he had traced over her skin just the same. But this was different.
Steve’s house was always empty. He could come and almost guarantee his parents wouldn’t be home. It had always seemed like a blessing, but now, as he lay awake, Jonathan thought about how lonely it must be for him. He closed his eyes, shutting himself off from the outside world and only focusing on the sounds of their soft breathing.
After he’d graduated, Steve had stayed in Hawkins. The two hadn’t talked much at first, but Jonathan had always felt like he should say something. Especially after he’d started going out with Nancy. They’d only said greetings in passing whenever Steve was driving the kids around. Jonatha had noticed Steve’s longing looks at Nancy, but they eventually stopped. They started talking again, slowly but surely. Even with Nancy. They were friends again, and Steve was moving on. It wasn’t awkward.
It had been the one comment Nancy had said about how it wasn’t too late for Steve to go to university. An innocent comment, but in private, it was something they had yet to talk about. They were graduating seniors this year, and though Nancy had always known Jonathan wanted to go to NYU, now—with everything drawing close to them—things felt more real. She wanted to attend university closer to home, out of state wasn’t an impossibility, but not New York. Jonathan wanted New York. It had always been New York.
They had argued about it for a whole month. Long distance was too hard albeit an option. They could take turns traveling to see each other. Jonathan could move back when he was done at New York. In the end, the futures they’d imagined for themselves lead down different paths. Jonathan had left her house, which was eerily quiet, and he was sure if anybody had been home, they’d have been listening. He drove around aimlessly for about an hour, his radio blasting, but for the life of him Jonathan could not remember any of the songs that had played. Somehow, he’d found himself in front of Steve’s house knocking on his door.
Steve answered before he could knock again. Jonathan had stood in front of him with his back hunched, hands in his pockets. Steve stepped aside and let him in. He’d listened quietly while Jonathan cried and vented. Steve offered some words of encouragement, and even let him know that he’d been on the phone with Nancy before he got there but didn’t say anything about what he and Nancy had talked about. Jonathan had wondered if Steve hadn’t found it odd to be in that position. To have to comfort the girl who had also broken his heart and the boy who’d taken his place.
If anything, it had made Jonathan suddenly hyper aware. But Steve didn’t seem bothered. It was then that Jonathan felt like he finally saw him. The way Steve’s brown, soft eyes stared at him, patient and caring. The way he’d managed to remain optimistic for him but still maintain the gravity of how Jonathan was feeling. It had sparked something inside him that he’d only felt twice before: once, when Steve had flicked at his clothes right before breaking his camera, back when they hadn’t been friends at all; and second, when Nancy had actually let him know that it had been Steve whom the Christmas replacement camera had really come from.
He wasn’t sure what to make of the feelings. It wasn’t that Jonathan had forgotten them or ignored them, but it was rather that he’d never taken the time to actually think about them ore examine them. Throughout his mourning and his trying to understand these feelings, Jonathan paid more visits to Steve’s house or his job after. It had seemed that Nancy was talking to them less and less, even Steve, but she needed to be alone. The two had agreed to remain friends, just as Steve and Nancy had, but it was a process.
The breakup had happened a week before winter break, but even after that, Jonathan found himself going to Steve often after classes and on the weekends, after their jobs or at Steve’s job if Jonathan was free. It made him feel good. He wasn’t sure how it had happened, it just had. He wasn’t sure what they’d been talking about. Jonathan only remembered that Steve was giving him those eyes, brown eyes filled with a gentle longing, and that quiet and soft smile.
Suddenly Johnathan’s heart rate spiked, and he swallowed thickly. He felt heat rise up his neck and his cheeks. It was hard to keep his smile and train of thought with how flustered he felt. Words wouldn’t come out anymore. When he finally looked up again, Steve stared at him quietly. He’d reached over and cupped his cheek before leaning in and kissing him. Jonathan’s heart had jumped, but he’d kissed back with a gasp.
His heart had hammered in his chest and his body was on fire. Their hands began tugging at each other clothes, and before Jonathan had known it, Steve was taking them upstairs to his room. Jonathan couldn’t even remember how they’d managed that without falling or tripping over each other. They’d left a trail of their clothes along the way, Jonathan’s murmuring of Steve’s name the only noise coming out of their lips besides pants.
They didn’t know what they were doing. Jonathan knew he didn’t regret it, and when he’d asked Steve, Steve said he didn’t either. Jonathan was still going to New York, and Steve was staying here. Nothing had actually changed. What they had wasn’t quite a relationship, but it also wasn’t quite not a relationship either. Maybe no one else knew about it, but no one else had to know. They had talked about telling Nancy, but for now, they’d just keep it between them… In Steve’s room where everything was more simple than the outside. Where things were okay. Where they were happy.
He’d drifted off to sleep, but Jonathan woke up to Steve kissing his neck softly. He pulled away as soon as Jonathan opened his eyes.
“Hey.” His voice was soft, an arm draped over the top of Jonathan’s waist.
“Hey.” Jonathan said back, smiling, heart beating like the wings of a bird.
Steve leaned in and kissed him, and Jonathan returned the kiss fully. Their lips and tongues tasting each other completely. Jonathan reached up and ran his fingers along Steve’s hair, gripping gently. They kissed softly for a few minutes before Steve shifted and got on top of him under the sheets. Jonathan held tighter to him, opening his legs up and shivering when Steve pressed his hardness against his inner thigh. He let out a shuddering breath as he trembled.
“Can I…?” Steve asked, panting, looking at him delicately, his lips swollen from their kissing.
Jonathan nodded, breathless, “Yeah…”
He gasped and gripped Steve’s hair tighter, back arching, when Steve pushed in. He was still sensitive from last night. It had been awhile since they’d used a condom, both not seeing anyone else currently. Steve began to kiss his exposed neck. He was always careful not to leave hickies where anyone would see them, but he always knew which places were most pleasurable. Jonathan’s body trembled slightly, and he wrapped his legs weakly around Steve’s waist. His breathing was ragged.
“Let me know if you want me to stop, babe.” Steve said against his neck.
He couldn’t talk, so Jonathan just nodded again. He let go of Steve’s hair and wrapped his trembling arms around his neck. He was melting already. He was lost to the kisses Steve planted down his neck and jaw and shoulder. To the steady movements of Steve’s hips rocking in and out of him, how they were controlled and careful, how they slowly began to pick up the pace.
“Ah…Steve…Steve…St—eve….!”
Jonathan’s moaning and the bed hitting the wall were the only soft sounds in the room. He could feel himself leaking, his own erection rubbing up between their stomachs. When Steve took a nipple to his mouth, it hardened instantly, and Jonathan tightened around him, arching more. A small noise of pleasure escaped Steve’s lips as he thrust in harder around Jonathan’s tightness. Jonathan let out a small whimper, and he gripped at Steve’s back. His legs trembling but finally letting go of Steve’s waist when Steve hit his small bundle of nerves. Jonathan let out another groan of pleasure.
“Ah, Steve! …Yes…There…” His voice meek but sultry.
He could feel Steve leaning in closer to his body, pushing in deeper, and Jonathan knew he wouldn’t be able to take this much longer. Through his pants, Jonathan managed to mumble the words ‘flip us’, and he was surprised Steve had heard them. He stopped sucking on Jonathan’s nipple and straightened up. Carefully but smoothly, he wrapped an arm around Jonathan’s waist and turned them.
Sinking deeper onto Steve’s lap, Jonathan groaned. His body trembled, but he still managed to move his hips. He held onto Steve’s shoulders, back arched and head thrown back. Steve was kissing and biting at his chest. He kept his arm wrapped around Jonathan’s waist, keeping him steady but carefully pushing him in when Jonathan thrusted his hips down. Steve was still for a moment, so they could adjust, but then he began to move his hips up in tandem to Jonathan’s thrusts. They were both sticky with sweat and between them, Jonathan’s precum.
When Steve reached his other hand back, gripping one of Jonathan’s buttocks and slightly spreading them, he became undone.
“STEVE!” He moaned, as he came down hard on Steve’s lap, impaling himself deeply against his sweet spot.
He shot out his cum between them, and it landed on Steve’s chest and stomach. “Fuck! Babe…!” He panted. “Jonathan…!”
Against Jonathan’s spasming muscles, Steve jutted his hips upwards. Jonathan mewled with pleasure each time he hit his spot, and he felt heat course through him when Steve’s seed shot deeply inside him. He slumped against Steve, panting. He felt Steve wrap his arm around his waist tighter and kiss his cheek.
“Mmm…” They both hummed.
Jonathan was trembling. Fuck, this felt so good. He couldn’t keep his eyes open; he was spent. He felt Steve stroking his cheek and hair. His heart fluttered against it’s still pounding from adrenaline. It was in these moments that he wondered how he could give this up. Summer was approaching, and then soon after that, he would be moving to New York….
Steve kissed his cheek twice, and Jonathan smiled.
“You should sleep over Fridays more often.” Steve said softly against his ear.
“Yeah, maybe.” Jonathan said, smiling.
They smiled at each other for a moment before sharing a chaste kiss. They both had work in the morning and would be needing to get ready soon, but these moments always seemed to be a simultaneously too short infinity. And maybe they wouldn’t last forever, but at least they had these moments. But Jonathan was hopeful that Steve might want to see New York.

A/N: Sooo, I have never written a Jonathan/Reader fic before. I always worry I don’t grasp Jonathan well enough to write him but here’s my attempt per request! Request: “May I please request a Jonathan Byers imagine where you’re already dating and you go with him and Nancy to find the demogorgon and instead of Nancy falling into the upside down it’s the reader and he takes care of you after you get out (a scene from season 1)” ~ @sgarrett49 Work Count: 3168
Complete Story Warnings: Minimal Language, Nudity Mentioned
You walked slowly beside Jonathan and scanned the woods with your flashlight, keeping your eyes peeled. If someone told you that you would be searching the woods for a creature from another dimension with your boyfriend, Jonathan Byers and Nancy Wheeler six months ago you would have called them crazy. You had started dating Jonathan during the summer, earlier that year. You had been friends since first grade and your relationship seemed to accidentally turn into dating. Neither of you had expected things to go the way they did but you couldn't have been happier with your relationship. You had both been awkwardly flirting for about the last year and one night when you’d been drunk you had kissed him at a party. You had feared your friendship was over until he kissed you back and it had ended in the backseat of his car.
When Will had gone missing Jonathan had withdrawn a bit from you, as you had expected. Jonathan had learned to deal with things on his own and to be the one to hold everything together. You had given him some distance until you found him sneaking around with Nancy Wheeler at Will’s funeral and had demanded answers. You hadn't really believed it at first but you knew Jonathan wasn't one to make stuff up. He had told you with an utterly convincing face and you knew he had been skeptical of his own mother's ravings.
You stayed close to Jonathan as you looked around the dark woods, unsure of any plan that had been made. Jonathan had heard something and held his hand out for you and Nancy to stay while he checked it out.
Nancy awkwardly stood beside you for a moment. “I was really happy..,” she began and didn’t continue until you glanced to her, “to hear about you and Jonathan. You both had always been so close.”
You shot Nancy a small smile, you really weren’t sure how you felt about her. You hadn’t ever spent time together outside of school and didn’t hang out together in school. When you had seen her sneaking around with Jonathan you really didn’t know how to take it. You knew Jonathan wouldn’t do anything to hurt you but when you saw them together at the funeral you had been upset. You had been grieving Will’s death until Jonathan had filled you in on everything that had happened and that they didn’t believe he was actually dead. You hadn’t believed it at first but you knew Jonathan was level-headed and not one to jump to conclusions.
“It was nothing,” Jonathan said as he came back. “What were you both talking about?” You were about to respond before Nancy grabbed your arm and shined her light off into the dark.
“Shh, I hear something,” Nancy said and you all went quiet, listening to the sounds of the woods.
When you all heard a quiet whimpering you followed the noise until you came across a wounded deer. The poor creature was suffering and it was decided that it needed to be put down.
Jonathan took it upon himself to be the one to shoot it. You turned away a little, not wanting to see the impact. You waited in the silence for the loud gunshot and jumped when a sudden growl and the shifting of leaves was what you heard.
“What was that?!” Nancy hissed and looked at both you and Jonathan.
“I didn't see it,” you confessed but shined your light where the deer had been and followed the trail of blood. You began walking, mindful of the path of blood.
Jonathan and Nancy looked with you and when the trail seemed to disappear you all tried looking around, you knew the creature had to be close. A dripping sound pulled your attention and you turned, finding the trail of blood and a large hole in the base of a tree. You slowly knelt down and saw a tunnel like entrance, an odd liquid dripping from the roof of the hole.
“Jonathan, I-,” you began but when you turned around and shined your light, you noticed he and Nancy were gone. You turned back to the hole and weighed your options. If what Nancy and Jonathan said was true, Will could be in there. Your long friendship with Jonathan had included spending a lot of time with Will, he was like your own little brother. You also knew Barb could be in there, you weren't as close with her but you knew her and couldn't just give up on a chance of finding her.
You shimmied off your backpack, knowing you wouldn't be able to fit through the hole with it on. You also figured it would leave Jonathan and Nancy a clue if they came back looking for you and you weren't there. You hesitated for another moment before grimacing as you started crawling through the tight tunnel. You could feel the slime like substance in your hair and touching your face.
When you finally came out the other side you blinked and glanced around a little. It seemed like you had just crawled through the tree but the woods didn't look right, it didn't feel right.
“Will?! Barb?!” You hissed, still being mindful of the creature you believed you encountered only moments before.
You walked around a little, shaking your flashlight as it kept flickering on and off. “Will? Barb?” You whispered before stopping in your spot as your light found the back of an odd shaped creature. You knew this had to be the animal Nancy and Jonathan had been talking about. Your eyes slowly shifted to see the deer from before lying on the ground as the creature fed from it.
You swallowed, trying to wet your dry throat and slowly began to back away from it. You had to will yourself not to run as fear surged through you. Your teeth bit into your bottom lip when you heard a twig snap under foot. The creature turned and roared at you and when you saw the teeth and the large mouth open you finally let out the scream that you had been holding in. Your instincts took over and you bolted through the woods.
You could hear your heartbeat as you ran through the trees and the creature was right behind you. “Jonathan!” You screamed, hoping in some way he would hear you and come to your rescue.
“(Y/N)!? (Y/N)!” You heard Jonathan's voice but it sounded almost distant, warped somehow.
“Jonathan!” You cried loudly, wanting to find him, wanting to get back to your world.
“(Y/N)! Follow my voice!” You heard him say the words and you could feel him. It was like he was right there with you but you just couldn't see him.
When the footsteps behind you weren't as prominent you quickly ducked behind a tree and leaned back against it. You covered your mouth and realized you were crying. You could hear the creature walking around, searching for you, hunting you. You forced yourself to hold your breath, even after all the running you had done, scared it would hear you.
You glanced around and saw the hole in the tree that you had come through. You bit your lip and when the creature sounded like it was walking further away, you darted for the entrance in the tree. It was different this time, the oozing goo that had covered the walls, had now formed together and was covering the tunnel. You heard the creature roar and forced yourself into the tunnel, tearing through the film.
“(Y/N)?” You heard weakly and it sounded like it was right in front of you.
You forced your hand through the thick film, trying to rip it open and reach for Jonathan all at once. “Jonathan, help!” You cried when you could feel a cold breeze on your fingers and you knew they were free. You felt a hand grab yours and it began pulling you out. When you finally ripped through the film you fell forward from no longer being restrained and Jonathan caught you, holding you in his arms.
You whimpered out your cries when you realized that you were safe in Jonathan's arms. The fresh air nearly burned your lungs and you coughed through your tears. When an odd sound reached your ears you turned and saw the tree bark shifting and the opening you had gone through disappeared like it was never there.
Your body went limp against Jonathan's as you couldn't believe your had made it out alive. “Are you okay?!” Jonathan demanded and sat up with you in his arms. He pulled your face from his neck and looked at you. “Are you alright?”
You nodded your head but your face crumbled and you let out a small sob. “I saw it. I saw the creature,” you confessed. “It was so scary,” you admitted, your fear shaking your voice.
Jonathan had tried to get you to talk more but you had shut down, feeling shocked by everything that had happened. When you all headed home, you sat in the back while Jonathan drove to Nancy's house. You kept your gaze out the window and the glisten in your eye never died down.
“Is your mom home tonight?” Jonathan asked, trying to figure out the best place to bring you when you were so shaken up. Your dad had split when you were younger, leaving just you and your mom alone. Jonathan had been there for you when it had happened and it seemed to only bond you two more as you had another shared experience.
You tried to remember but it all seemed to be erased from your mind. After a few moments you shook your head, remembering that she had to work.
Not another word was spoken until Jonathan got to your house and helped you inside. “Let's get you in the shower,” he said quietly, guiding you to your room. He sat you on the bed before he went into your bathroom and you heard the shower come on.
Your eyes glanced around your bedroom, it was nice to be surrounded by something you were familiar with but you still had the sinking feeling that everything wasn't okay. You felt like that creature was going to find you, it had your scent, it knew your screams and voice now.
“All ready,” Jonathan said and you jumped out of your thoughts. “Are you alright?” He asked, his eyes saddened with concern. You knew he felt helpless, just as you had the whole week since Will had disappeared.
“Will you shower with me?” You asked, your voice still uneven. You felt like you couldn't shake the fear inside you and you didn't want to be alone.
“Yeah,” Jonathan said, almost seeming surprised. “Come on, babe,” he offered his hand to you and when you took it, he led you into the bathroom and closed the door.
He helped you take off your clothes and once you were in the shower he removed his before getting in with you. The second he was there you wrapped your arms around his neck and buried your face into him. He quietly shushed your crying and rubbed at your back. You felt him press a tender kiss to the top of your head and you tried to stop crying.
“I'm not going to let anything happen to you,” he said and wrapped you up tightly in his arms. “You're safe now,” he tried to assure. You felt a little better even though you knew it wasn't true. That creature was still out there and as long as it was, you weren't safe.
“What if it finds me?” You asked, you pulled back a little and looked into Jonathan's eyes, searching his expression for the answer.
“I won't let it take you,” he said before he gently held your face in his hands and pressed a kiss to your lips. “I was so scared,” he admitted. “I didn't know where you were,” he said and frowned. You rubbed at his arm gently, knowing how worried he must have been. Will had already gone missing, you didn't want him worrying about you too. “I could feel you there and I could hear you but you weren't there. It was like you were right behind something and I just couldn't see. Then for a second, before you came out, that feeling went away,” he said and looked into your eyes. “I was scared I wasn't going to be able to feel you anymore,” he said and broke away from you a little when his eyes watered up.
“Baby,” you cooed a little before hugging him, your own eyes watering up. “Nothing is going to happen to me. I'm okay,” you tried.
“We don't know that! We don't know anything!” Jonathan argued before he pulled away from you and got out of the shower.
You shut the shower off and got out yourself, grabbing a towel. You followed Jonathan into the bedroom where he was redressing himself. “Listen, I know that I have you and you have me,” you said. “Neither one of us is going to give up without a fight. We are going to find Will and Barb and they're going to be okay!” You tried to reason, you could see Jonathan shutting down, closing you out.
“I just need to think,” he said and grabbed his jacket up in his hand, heading for the bedroom door.
“You're going to leave me alone?!” You asked, an expression of pure bewilderment on your features.
“I didn't… I wasn't...I can’t,” Jonathan tried repeatedly before sighing.
“Whatever. Leave. Shut me out. Go run to Nancy and tell her how you feel because you sure as fuck don't tell me anymore,” you said bitterly before you went into the bathroom and slammed the door.
You dropped your towel and got back into the shower, angrily turning the water on again. You stood in the spray and kept your angered expression for a few moments before you started crying again and leaned against the wall of the shower. Truthfully, you really didn't want to be alone and you didn't want to be fighting with Jonathan but you were tired of him shutting you out. He had always talked to you when you had been friends. If it hadn't been right away, it was always within a day or two. Now it felt like he kept everything from you.
You washed your hair, scrubbing at it to get every bit of that goo out of it. When you finally felt clean enough you shut off the shower and grabbed your towel back up before going out into your room, wrapped in it. You saw Jonathan sitting on the bed, facing you. He glanced up to you when you came out, pausing when you saw him.
You sighed out quietly before going over and sitting next to him on the edge of the bed. You waited for him to speak since he clearly looked like he had something to say.
“I'm know that I've shut you out,” he began and you looked down a little. “I didn’t mean to I just...I've been angry and saying hurtful things and I don't want to do that with you. It's not fair to you of all people.” He shifted himself to face you and took your hand. “There is nothing going on with Nancy,” he said and you looked up into his eyes, seeing the honesty.
“I know there's nothing going on with Nancy,” you confessed. “It just hurt me that you went to her before me. You weren't even going to tell me about tonight, about looking for Will and that creature.”
“Well look what happened!” Jonathan exclaimed. “I was scared of something happening to you too and when you went missing…,” Jonathan broke off a bit and shook his head. “I'm barely keeping it together without Will. I won't lose you both,” he said before his eyes watered a little. “I can't,” he confessed brokenly.
You frowned sadly before you wrapped an arm around him and rubbed his back. “We’re going to find him,” you assured. “We're going to bring Will back,” you said.
Jonathan looked at you before he leaned over and pressed a kiss to your lips. “You always make everything feel okay,” he whispered, making you smile a little.
“I try,” you said with a small smile back. Jonathan slowly stood up before he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to your forehead.
Jonathan went in and finished showering while you changed into your pajamas. When he came out in his boxers and shirt, he crawled into bed behind you and wrapped you up in his arms before kissing the back of your shoulder. You both laid quiet for a little while and just stayed close.
You knew everything wasn't fixed yet and that the creature was still out there, roaming the woods, possibly looking for you. You were still scared but with Jonathan's arms around you, you couldn't help but feel a little safer.
“I love you,” he whispered after a little while before he nuzzled his nose into your hair.
“I love you too,” you said back with a sweet smile. You and Jonathan had always been comfortable with the term after being friends for so long. The only time it had gotten less comfortable was when you both had realized you liked each other more than friends. When you started your relationship it had taken about three months for Jonathan to finally use the term again. He was always shy with admitting his feelings in most cases, you knew that was how he was and had accepted it a long time ago. You were happy when he opened up to you, after all your years as friends, he was comfortable about his feelings towards you.
You both stayed curled up together and at some point during the night, found sleep.

Jonathan awoke the next morning and squinted his eyes at the bright sun coming through your window. He quickly realized you weren’t laying beside him and turned his head, seeing you at the foot of the bed. He could see a map of Hawkins where you had marked every attack and notes had been scribbled of similarities.
“Babe, did you sleep?” Jonathan asked before he rubbed at his eyes.
“I made a plan to trap that creature and we're going to kill it,” you said and felt Jonathan rollover a bit.
“How?” Jonathan asked, scrunching his face up.
“I have an idea...but we’re gonna need Nancy and a bear trap,” you admitted.
“A what?!” Jonathan asked, scrunching his face up a little more. He lifted his head from the bed, trying to look at your face.
You smiled a little and turned to face him, getting ready to share your plan.
