If the BSD boys were my coworkers
Tumblr media
♡ characters: Atsushi Nakajima, Dazai Osamu, Chuuya Nakahara, Akutagawa Ryuunosuke, Kunikida Doppo, Ranpo Edogawa, John Steinbeck, Edgar Allan Poe
♡ synopsis: How would these boys be if they were my coworkers?
♡ cw: Swearing, knives, mentions of sexual harassment
note: For clarification I'm a retail assistant at a grocery store. So basically how good are these boys at stocking vegetables and being nice to people? This is extremely self indulgent, which I apologise for. Also apologies for errors and I hope you enjoy x
Tumblr media
Atsushi:
Would be so good with helping customers. I'd always be calling after him to get me out of trouble with mean old customers lol
Like me would also be bad with the wrapping machine T-T
Pretty good at his job, not totally brilliant but also not bad. I think it'd be fine if I were left alone with him for a little bit
The kindest coworker I could ask for honestly he'd always be there to help me if I needed his help
Would bring me back a snack or cake from a nearby bakery or cafe from his lunch break <3
Like me, would find it very hard to not just start eating all the fresh fruit while he's stocking it (I kin him a lot guys lmao)
Actually like super duper efficient and we'd be able to get our work done pretty quickly. The last half hour or so of our shifts would be so slow
Would always ask me to be careful if I were using a knife to do something because he's just a sweetie
Dazai:
This dude would be so damn slow when restocking food honestly and it would be infuriating lmao
Wouldn't be very thorough when checking stock so I'd probably be finding a bit of rotten fruit while working :'(
He'd be fun to hang out with in the back though, would definitely flirt on company time and hold the both of us up lol
Would do that thing where you stand behind someone who's trying to reach something in a high shelf and you'd get it for them but also lowkey lean against them. All the time
Would be good at remembering which stock we have and what we don't have though
He would be so good and charismatic with customers, especially old women they'd call him a charming young gentleman and all that stuff
Always forgets to bring his shit (nametag, pen, apron etc.) to work and would probably have to continuously borrow things
The thing with him is that he's legitimately good at all of it but he just chooses to be incompetent just because T-T
Chuuya:
Would be so. fucking. GOOD at this job holy shit.
Super good at wrapping stock and would get the hang of all the machinery and stuff immediately
Would be civil to customers unless they give him shit then he'd give it right back lmaoo
He would definitely also defend me if I was being bullied by Karens or being harassed by male patrons (during the daytime there's my adult male coworkers and then there's me, a small girl who looks like fifteen or some shit. Y'all know I be gettin called 'sweetie' by men four times my age)
Would always be very salty about having to use the step to reach stock on high shelves lol
But he'd also be super good at heaving and lifting heavy stuff like potato sacks which I'd have to get him to do for me because I'm weak
Would look so hot in the work uniform highkey
Like the number one coworker I won't lie
Akutagawa:
Akutagawa has a serious case of resting bitch face, so customers would be too worried to approach him lmao and I'd have to help everyone
He makes up for this by being super duper good at presentation and so I'd never have to go around and organise things because they'd always look pretty lol
Probably uses his ability to help him carry things (but only in the back because that would scare customers)
Despite his fighting talent he would not be able to cut vegetables. He would be so confused with it. Same with the wrapping he wouldn't be able to get it right
Would prefer to wear gloves while working
If Gin ever came in to grab some groceries he'd talk to her for a little (and treat her better than all the other customers T-T)
Actually wouldn't be so bad to talk to while working but he would literally never initiate any conversations or small talk
Focuses so hard while he's working and it's honestly so cute
Kunikida:
He would be both good to work with but also crappy to work with hear me out
He would be great at remembering stock, helping me with customers, and helping me reach stuff on high shelves because at work I'm considered short
But he'd also hound me for being too slow or not stacking stuff correctly
That being said, he would always answer any questions that I'd have and explain things to me in a way that I'd understand :)
Works like a machine. I'd never be able to catch up to him at all (and he would hate that)
Would not want me bringing snacks or drinks to work but like what's he gonna do? Waste perfectly good food? Didn't think so Kunikida >:)
Even if he had a super long shift he'd just never tire and always be buzzing (even if he were tired he'd be great at concealing it)
Let's just be glad that he's not working alongside Dazai
Ranpo:
WOULDN'T GET ANY GODDAMN WORK DONE
I love Ranpo to the moon and back but he'd be the most useless fucking coworker of all time
He wouldn't make lists, he wouldn't grab stock and if I'm LUCKY he'd work out the front of the store. He'd use any excuse to stay in the back and just use the label maker and maybe cut vegetables because of how low effort it is
Would be super fun to hang out with if we have nothing to do though. We would talk so much shit about mean customers we encounter and stuff
He'd also bring sweets to work and let me have some sometimes, but only if I nag him about not doing any work
Would stay in the fridge just to breathe out and see mist come out of his mouth (and would also forget to close the fridge door)
Knows the layout of the whole damn store after walking through it ONE time
In conclusion I'm snitching to Fukuzawa
Steinbeck:
Absolute fucking BEAST. This dude is a farmer so he's able to rotate and complete quality checks at lightning speed
Honestly probably wouldn't need much training if any at all. He'd be the employee of the month on the first day
I feel like I'd have tons of free time at the end of my shifts because he'd just finish all the work so fast
Could use his ability to replenish stock. He could, but he won't. Just because he's a bit of a bitch (and people might not want to eat literal flesh vegetables but y'know)
Hums along to the songs that he knows on the radio while he works
Is good at being civil with customers but if they give him lip he's not gonna be as civil for much longer
Always bantering with our other coworkers and DEFINITELY talking shit about annoying customers in our free time
I mean if I want to not have to do very much work on a certain day I'd hope that I'd be working with John lol
Poe:
Would take a little while to get used to it all, because I feel like he's not the type to memorise a bunch of stuff super fast
Would be overwhelmed by customers and might freeze up on them; I'd have to come in and save him
Otherwise, he might just default to 'I'll go to the back and check for you' so he can escape the situation (same)
Would take pretty long while restocking food because he'd want to make it all look nice lol
He'd be scared of the wrapping machine (it has a hot plate to seal wrapping and he'd be scared of burning himself on it)
Might actually always be miserable because he's not allowed to bring Karl to work and so he'd feel lonely :(
He and I would talk about our niche interests when we're finished and have nothing else to do
I mean he could most definitely be worse. No matter how bad he'd be I'd love him anyway
Tumblr media
i will do a girls version of this btw

BSD S5 SPOILERS, mostly episode 11 spoilers tw: slight swearing
I hate BSD, I can't hate any characters anymore
I hate the major villain. Turns out he's a good guy, just wants peace, and is part of one of my favorite ships now. (Fukuchi)
I hate Nikolia because he's really energetic. Guess what, he's actually really deep. AND is the main character in one of the best scenes I've seen (when Fyodor dies and Nikolia takes his hand and bends down, it's so fucking moving).
I hate Jouno because he's a bad guy. Turns out he actually just wants to help people, and I might kin him.
I hate Teruko because she's annoying, thinks she's better than everyone. Think again! She's actually really sweet and just wants to be the best she can be for Fukuchi (I think he's a father figure for her).
I hate Lucy because she's annoying. She's actually really helpful, and I don't mind her. (Though the real author is still better)
I hate John Steinbeck. He's actually pretty funny and interesting.
I hate Margret. She's actually really nice and brave. She literally gave her life for Nathaniel.
I hate Nathaniel. His relationship with Maragret is actually really nice and he probably has a lot of stuff going on in his head. He's not as simple as a weird guy who turned bad. He did it for revenge, he did it for love, he misplaced his priorities though. He ended up losing and being used. He wasn't thinking straight. He wanted his old life back, he wanted everything to be back to normal.
I hate Fitzgerald. He's actually one of the most hilarious characters!
I hate Aya. She's actually really brave and just wants the best for everyone. She's pretty smart and responsible for a little girl. She's been forced to grow up, and never had a loving parent or older sibling to rely on and look up. Plus, her and Brams relationship is beautiful and I absolutely love it! She's a lot like me.
I hate Higuchi. Yeah, she's kind of weird and simple. But she's just a lady who somehow got missed up with the mafia. She's just trying to do the best she can when she isn't as experienced as others and doesn't have an ability to rely on.
I hate Tanizaki because he's kind of just boring and got that weird sister complex thing. He's actually a really good assassin and his ability is super cool. He's also really dedicated.
It's not fucking fair! Why do I have to love every single character!! Why do they all have to be so good!! Why do I also have to kin most of them too??!

Why White People Don’t Know Their Place
To minimize offense to innocent bystanders, I’m going to be very euphemistic and clean up the terminology here.
I mean really clean it up.
In the bad old days in the antebellum south, plantation owners divided their workers into two groups:  Field Hands and Household Servants.
(Boy howdy, how I’ve cleaned this up…)
Now, I’m going to sidestep the specific racism to focus on the real underlying problem:  Classism.
American racism is like the caste system in India, samurai and peasants in ancient Japan, nobles and serfs in medieval Europe:  You are born into a specific class through no effort or fault of your own and are expected to stay there your entire life.
It’s possible to drop down in class under such systems, but not to rise above one’s current status.
(There are exceptions in history; the Roman and Ottoman Empires allowed upward mobility as a reward for exceptional service, and that served as a safety valve for their societies.)
The Field Hands in the Ol’ South understood this; they didn’t like it, but they understood it.
They knew they would never be allowed to rise above their race-imposed class status, but they also knew they could improve their condition within their class.
For Field Hands, it would be as a work gang boss, or as a skilled worker would could earn slightly favored treatment as a result of their specialty.
And if they dreamed big, they could become Household Servants.
As onerous as we would find the working conditions of Household Servants today, it sure as hell beat chopping cotton.
From the accounts the plantation owners left behind and other documentation, we know they spoke of Household Servants as beloved members of their own extended families.
Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima deliberately play off that trope.
The conceit being that Household Servants were part of the ruling elite, that while there might be some minor physical differences between them and the plantation owners, they were actual kin, and as such, something special, something better than the poor Field Hands.
While the Field Hands sure knew where they stood in the scheme of things, among the Household Servants there was occasionally some confusion.
Many -- perhaps most -- were smart enough to recognize how precarious their positions were and carefully walked that tightrope, knowing they could slip and fall in the blink of an eye.
More than a few recognized their true position re the plantation owners yet still gloated over their less fortunate brothers and sisters and cousins in the fields.  The expression “cotton-pickin’ hands” came from that divide, the sassy Household Servant looking down with disdain on the lowly Field Worker’s coarse and calloused hands.
But a few Household Servants -- arguably the saddest and most pathetic of that lot -- actually believed they were part of the plantation owners’ extended families.
That was delusional thinking, of course.
Bullshit of the most odiferous kind.
The plantation owners would sell a Household Servant down river in the blink of an eye if it suited them, and while there might be a few perks and privileges associated with being a Household Servant, heaven help any who dared act as if they were entitled to anything.
Especially if that entitlement was actually being an official part of the plantation owners’ families.
(Elsewhere, in the Latin American portion of the Western Hemisphere, grandees ruled over peons in a similar arrangement, the key difference being that like the Roman and Ottoman Empires, there was some provision for peons to rise in class; not much, but some.)
Now, like a satellite view of the Earth, let’s pull back one order of magnitude and look at the situation more clearly.
Every ruling class needs a middle class to act as a buffer between it and the lower class.
Sometimes that buffer is a privileged member of the lower class -- a factory foreman on first name basis with the CEO -- but typically it’s a management class set in place to take the onerous task of actually running an enterprise off the hands of the owners.
In the Ol’ South, that was every white person who didn’t own their own plantation.
The plantation owners knew full well what they were doing.
Those who actually lived on the plantations they owned kept their Household Servants close to cater to their whims, but they hired white overseers to handle the dirty business of actually running the plantation.
A dirty business of blood and sweat and tears.
Those not hired directly by the plantation owners found indirect employment with them.
They ran the trade in enslaved labor, they served in patrols and militias that enforced white rule, they wrote for the laws that benefited the plantation owners and voted for the politicians who passed them.
And those not directly or indirectly employed fought the plantation owners’ battles at great cost to themselves, they provided millions of eyes and ears looking out for any sign of uprising, they gleefully joined the lynch mobs that terrorized those Field Hands “uppity” enough to demand the same basic human dignity as the lowest, meanest (in every sense of the word) white person.
What the white people in the Ol’ South never realized was they were no better off than the Household Servants.
Oh, they had their delusions of equality, they loved to think of themselves in the words of John Steinbeck as “temporarily embarrassed millionaires”, they all believed that someday -- someday!!! --  they would be rubbing elbows with all the high class plantation owners, sipping mint juleps, watching their thoroughbreds race at the Kentucky derby, etc., etc., and of course, etc.
And if their specific aspirations didn’t reach that high, they took solace in the idea that no matter how lowly their position, the plantation owners and other elites saw them as equals.
There’s a verse from the musical Oklahoma! That epitomizes this perfectly:
“I ain’t sayin’ I’m better than anybody else But I’ll be danged if I ain’t just as good!”
This is where America’s myth of the classless society began, because if one denies class exists, one can pretend to be the equal of those at the very top especially if the upper class rewards you by agreeing you are better than all others not like you.
A purportedly classless society can only discriminate and reward a select group while oppressing all others by claiming such discrimination is based on something other than class, such as race / gender / orientation.
We claimed to be classless -- yet our foundational laws excluded women and native peoples and African-Americans and men who didn’t own property.
By definition, that’s a class based society.
But we do possess the mechanisms to create a more perfect union, and however hesitantly, however tentatively, we’ve been taking steps in that direction.
The main obstacle to that has been white America, which by and large is pretty much in the same camp as the delusional Household Servants who thought they actually were a part of the plantation owners’ families.
By and large, whites in America have eagerly bought into this idea, sacrificing enormous advantages they have, enormous rewards they could reap in exchange for a mocking fictitious promise:  ”Hey, you may be poor, but at least you aren’t black!”
This is where American racism set back the country for white and minorities for centuries.
To recognize that they were genuinely to better off that African-Americans, native peoples, or Latin / Hispanic Americans you require white Americans to surrender the one thing they thought they possessed that could never be taken from them:  Inherent superiority.
That was a phantasm, of course.  A lie perpetrated on the gullible for the benefit of the 1% at the very top.
The African-American and Latin / Hispanic American communities suffered a lot, but at least they never had the belief of inherent superiority promoted on their behalf by the wealthy upper class.
Indeed, while they cover a diverse range of the political and social spectrum, by and large those communities never succumbed to the illusion they lived in a classless society.
Oh, no; far from it.
As a result, come 2048 -- when whites in America will drop to 49% of the population, the largest minority in a nation of minorities but a minority nonetheless -- they will find themselves bulldozed by the far more vigorous and politically astute African-American, Latin / Hispanic, and other minority communities.
It’s a day too long in coming, and it can’t get here fast enough to suit me.
When it arrives. The former white majority will at long last be forced to recognize they ain’t “family” but Household Servants, and Household Servants ain’t no better than Field Hands.
I’ll close with another euphemism, a Firesign Theatre paraphrase of Buddy Holly’s infamous but wholly accurate and trenchant observation:
“I think we’re all bozos on this bus.”

💎🍀
hyperfixation questions!
💎 are there any fun facts or trivia that you would like to share?
I recently learned that James Dean was actually a nerd in high school. His Wikipedia article describes him as being a “good student” who was pre-law at his college before deciding to do theatre instead. Also apparently John Steinbeck just kinassigned him Cal Trask which is hilarious but also feels validating given that Cal is clearly autistic and Dean portrays that so well in East of Eden (imo Jim Stark also comes across as autistic or ADHD or both). I’m not sure how much of a fun fact that is because I don’t typically like to speculate on things like that, but I feel like neurodivergent queer men (or women for that matter) don’t get that much representation. It’s nice in hindsight, but also very sad.
🍀 do you have any kins or comfort characters from your hyperfixation?
*sweats nervously*

i don’t have any others from like classic film and afaik classic film isn’t exactly a media format bursting with kin, so I will just be s

New Dylan
Norman Jopling, Record Mirror, 9 December 1967
WHAT DO YOU think when you first hear a NEW Bob Dylan song, sung by Bob Dylan? For me, and most other Dylan admirers, it has been 18 months since a batch of new songs came out, so the experience is becoming rarer and rarer.
Upon hearing that Feldmans Music had received a batch of new Dylan material from the States, and reading an article on them by Nick Jones, I decided to try to listen to them, and transmit my thoughts and impressions to you. Especially as Feldmans stressed adamantly that the new Dylan sides were strictly demos, and definitely NOT intended for release in LP form or any form, for that matter. They had, Feldman’s declared, been sent over by Al Grossman to sell to other artistes.
SIMPLIFIED STYLE Here are the tracks—and I must thank Feldmans, and Ronnie Beck especially, for the kind co-operation showed me.
The first impression of almost every track is that Dylan has simplified his style and veered over (strongly in some cases) to a gutsy country and western influence. Although the lyrics are not as Steinbeck-inclined as some of his earlier material, traces of the books Bob has read seep through. The biggest influence—if “influence” is the word to use, although “medium” is probably more appropriate—is Johnny Cash. Certainly the Cash image of a big, tough, hard-drinking, deep-voiced philosophical cowboy comes across strongly, and it is easy to imagine how the much more ethereal Dylan would find this an appealing medium with which to put over his lyrics. (As of course he started using the basic rock ’n’ roll beat some years ago).
‘MEMPHIS BLUES AGAIN’ ‘Million Dollar Bash’ seems to be basically a semi-talking country blues, with a repetitive chorus that immediately strikes one as being very Buddy Holly-ish. The basic construction of the song is similar to ‘Memphis Blues Again’.
‘Yea! Heavy And A Bottle Of Bread’ has an insistent guitar riff and builds along strongly. Amusing lyric and a deeper vocal than we’re used to from Bob.
‘Please Mrs. Henry’ is one of the best. What sounds and reads initially like a drinking song, but with more sinister undertones. A woodwind instrument—I think it’s a penny whistle—has a nice phrase and this quizzical song is very very interesting.
STRICT DELTA BLUES ‘Down In The Flood’ sounds basically like a strict Delta Blues, with a mellow sound and a plaintive quality running through it. A piping organ adds to the effect. In fact the backings on most of the tracks contain guitar (the most prominent instrument always), organ, piano and a variety of odd sounds added for the effect.
‘Lo And Behold’ is Johnny Cash-ish, features a church styled organ and has a prominent deep-voiced vocal backing (sounds VERY Johnny Cash), and a gospel feel to the whole song. It moves along ponderously and the semi-talk vocal is effective.
‘Tiny Montgomery’—you can’t help thinking of ‘Big Bad John’ when you hear this one. A kind of country-based truck-driver sort of song, with strong guitar chords and an organ build-up. Another strong lyric here.
MOVING ORGAN WORK ‘The Wheel’s On Fire’ is a slow emotional blues. Reminiscent of ‘St. James Infirmary’, there are some great Salvationist drums and vocal crescendos. A poignant item and ever-so-slightly like ‘It Takes A Lot To Laugh’, with moving organ work. If you care to look even a little under the surface of this song, it could emerge as a send-up of all the Procol Harum type of songs—but then who knows when Dylan is sending-up and when he is serious—viz, his last concert tour. One line from this song goes “…Best notify my next of kin, that this wheel shall explode.”
On ‘You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere’ there’s a solid beat and much more C & W slants than the last track.
Clickety sounds from the drums, and a kind of prairie “by the camp fire” sort of sound—again simplicity is the keynote.
‘I Shall Be Released’ has a slow falsetto-type feel about it, and of all the tracks this sounds the least like “The-Dylan-We-Know-And-Love”. The basis of the song is very Impressions-y and now and then Curtis Mayfield style guitar intrudes. His vocal is almost unrecognisable but the lyric is good.
‘Too Much Of Nothing’ is already a big American hit for Peter, Paul and Mary—but if you’ve heard that, don’t think that the way Dylan sings it is similar. It’s not—Dylan’s version is an emotional vocal workout, with ethereal lyrics and a very good tune. Slow-ish, and the “Say hello” phrase repeats itself a lot—the same phrase that he has used before in other songs. One line reads: “…When there’s too much of nothing, nobody should look.” Certainly one of the best on the tape.
Ten new songs altogether—and stars interested in them include Manfred Mann, Paul Jones, Julie Felix, P. J. Proby and Gordon Waller.
STEREO DIFFERENCE Incidentally, I discovered the other week that a friend of mine had a copy of Highway 61 Revisited in stereo on the American Columbia label. As my copy is mono I borrowed it, to find that there are some considerable differences in the mixing. Especially on ‘Ballad Of A Thin Man’ where much more backing can be heard—plus a soulful wail at the end! But the most surprising difference is that ‘From A Buick 6’ is a completely different version, different backing and even some of the lyrics are not on the British mono or stereo versions, or the U.S. mono version. Strange…
Any other new songs of Bob’s which turn up here, plus any news of actual record releases on CBS will be published as soon as we acquire the information.

August wrapped up and mini reviews.
In August, I read 6 books. Unfortunately, some of them aren’t featured in this photo because I forgot that I’ve read them until I checked Goodreads. What a bummer. That’s the main reason why I rarely do this kind of wrap up. Apart from being a responsible, productive grown up that I am, i’m also irredeemably terrible at keeping track and prone to avoid any form of commitment. So these are the books I read in no particular order.
Flora - Gail Goodwin
A historical novel sets during WWII. The novel revolves around Helen, a snobbish, selfish 10 years old whose grandmother passed away recently. Her father is sent off to work on an atomic bomb at Oak Ridge, Helen is left under the tutelage of Flora (her dead mother’s cousin). Nothing really happens in this book until the end and when something happens, I feel like the author was in such a rush to wrap up the book so much that there wasn’t any form of epilogue or a reflection of how Helen feels about what happens. It’s not a bad book, I think it’s worth reading on a cold, rainy day when you feel the need to revisit your childhood or those dark days where you may have behaved unbearably selfish towards someone who is too good for you.
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
Haunting and unforgettable. I liked this one much more than Jane Eyre which I read during my teenage years and left an impact on me (I still own a beautiful hardback edition!). I probably skipped the majority of Yorkshire dialect spoken in the book, I deemed them inconsequential and I had a difficult time trying to decipher them. While Heathclif’s love for Catherine is the essence of the story and other characters pirouette around them, it is also a story about how monsters are made and how Heathclif’s abuse and tragic love could manifest in an alarming extent of revulsion even towards his own kin.
Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck
I’m thoroughly in love with Steinbeck’s writing now. His writing drawn me in from the very first page by its sheer simplicity. Of Mice and Men illustrates the unattainablity of working class dreams where an ambition might be self-destructive. It is both moving and tragic.
Miss Brill - Katherine Mansfield
I read this little Penguin Black Classic twice. It’s comprised of three stories by Katherine Mansfield. I find other stories mediocre at best, but Miss Brill is filled with melancholy and a palpable sense of longing which makes it my favorite out the three.. It’s a little story of a lonely old woman who constructs her own fantasy about being an actor in a town she lives in. So every weekend, she would put on her fur and sits on a little bench, observing bystanders as she believes everyone has a role to play. Sadly, the people outside her fantasy aren’t too kind to her, they regard her as an old wretch which is absolutely heartbreaking.
If this is a man/The truce - Primo Levi
Essential, a must read. I shall pass this book on to my children, my grandchildren, and my great grandchildren. I’m not the same person after having read this book.

The ill thought out remarks by Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, to the effect that rodents had damaged the President's office, forcing him to work from home should not come as a surprise to discerning Nigerians and neither should we blame Mr. Shehu for the infantile lie. You see, once the decision had been reached at the highest levels to be less than transparent about President Muhammadu Buhari's health situation, there was really nothing much that his media aides could do. If I was Garba Shehu, what I would have said is that the President has a backlog of work and so had to cancel FEC and focus fully on clearing this backlog from home! It would not be a lie being that the President is always on call 24/7.  As a Presidential spokesman, lying is the last thing you want to do. Your job is to find creative, but not dishonest, ways to make the bitter truth palatable to the general public. Lack of creativity is a greater liability to a Presidential spokesman than lack of funds. And the remark itself (“Following the three months’ period of disuse, rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units") reminds me of the iconic movie, Of Mice and Men. Of Mice and Men is a 1937 book by John Steinbeck, which got made into a movie. It tells the tale of of two California migrants workers who roam from town to town during the Great Depression in search of greener pastures. How fitting that the lie told by Mr. Shehu should dovetail into Steinbeck's classic. Just like in Of Mice and Men, we have a migrant President who moves back and forth from London to Abuja. And again like Steinbeck's classic, he does so in a depression. The only difference is that while George Milton and Lennie Small were the victims of a depression caused by others, President Muhammadu Buhari is not a victim but a perpetrator of the fastest negative turnaround of an economy from the third fastest growing economy in the world to an economy in recession. There are many other parallels one can draw from the movie and the comedy the Buhari administration is unleashing on the nation, but one has to be careful in drawing attention to them especially in these days that the military is scouring social media for "anti-government and anti-military information". But I just wonder how Garba could have said ?"Rodents have caused a lot of damage to the President's office" with a straight face! Really Garba Shehu! There should be limits to propaganda. It is only in Nigeria that "rodents" will chase a lion away from his den! Garba, please you should be too decent for this, leave lies for Lai Mohammed! If President Muhammadu Buhari is not strong enough to go to the office, simply say the truth and shame the devil. I have been in the President of Nigeria's office. It is cleaned everyday. I also had an office in the villa and I traveled abroad for a long period and nothing happened to my office. The Presidency has projected President Buhari as an anti-corruption crusader with strong integrity and credibility. Such infantile lies as this rat story rubbishes that image! It also portrays the Buhari administration as a government severely deficient in intelligence! Almost every international news agency carried the ridiculous story in a way that belittled Nigeria. BBC, AFP, RFI and even China Xinhua News! Worldwide the Muhammadu Buhari administration has turned Nigeria into an international joke because of an inept President and his inept aides! I mean it is just clear that the President still needs to recover and that he only returned because the pressure from Charly Boy's #ReturnorResign group had become unbearable, especially when they announced that they had gotten a permit from the Metropolitan Police in London to protest outside Abuja House. Of all things to use as an excuse, it has to be rats! If you are wondering why the rats in your city have reduced, wonder no more. They have all relocated to seek greener pastures at Aso Rock! But on a serious note though, President Yar'adua left Nigeria on November 23, 2009 and did not return until February 10, 2010. Thereafter he was at the Presidential Villa until he died on May 5, 2010. For a period of 6 months, his office was vacant until Dr. Goodluck Jonathan succeeded him. In all that time, rodents never destroyed his office. Which just makes you wonder the type of rodents that exist in Aso Rock under President Muhammadu Buhari the man who promised Nigerians change but ended up giving those who voted him as President chains! As for the Nigerian military who will now monitor social media for "anti-government information", I can only say what a lovely change! Did I hear you say chains! Can any comment be more "anti-government" than this comment made by Buhari on May 15, 2012 "by the grace of God, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood"? And can any comment be anti Nigerian than this comment made by the same man on July 25, 2015 "The constituents, for example, gave me 97% cannot in all honesty be treated on some issues with constituencies that gave me 5%"? So funny when the father of hate speech and the king pin of anti-government talk now wants to deal with those who have not even come close to doing what he has done! And after His misspeak on why the President had to work from home, ?Garba Shehu followed up with a statement warning that the Presidency will henceforth not tolerate harsh words being used on President Muhammadu Buhari and said "calling Buhari an enemy of Nigeria was in extremely bad taste". Is this not the same Buhari that said on May 15, 2012 and I quote "the biggest Boko Haram is the Federal Government.” Buhari called the government of Goodluck Jonathan a Boko Haram government without providing proof and now complains about being criticized! Mr. President, buy a mirror and arrest the person you see in it as an example of your zero tolerance for "harsh words"! These shenanigans are annoying enough, but to add salt to injury, along comes Yahaya Bello! ?To show how useless governance has become under the APC, Yahaya Bello, a state Governor declares a public holiday to celebrate President Muhammadu Buhari's return! Now, I sympathize with President Buhari, but aren't public holidays meant to be for events pertaining to a nation's history? President Buhari has been a resident of the U.K. for over a hundred days, has he ever known the U.K. to proclaim a public holiday because the Queen returned from hospital? Our army killed at least 347 Shiite men, women, children and infants, our Air Force killed 119 people at the Rann IDP camp in a mistaken bombing. We did not declare any national mourning. Yet we declare a public holiday for Buhari's return! This is the height of sycophancy! Well, enough about the Presidency's ineptitude and comedic behavior, let me change the mood of this piece and enter second base. Someone tell Oby Ezekwesili that it is hypocritical to complain about a soup you helped cook just because you were not given your share! She was used to bring down a good man and thereafter dumped and now she is bitter and she wants to feign that she is one of us who are genuinely opposing a dictatorial and clueless government for patriotic reasons! Where are her fellow #BringBackOurGirls colleagues? Are they not now holding very, very, very juicy positions in President Muhammadu Buhari's government? She is a woman scorned because her lover (APC) enjoyed her pleasures but refused to marry her. Now she wants to use Nigerians to get her revenge! We are not that foolish! Imagine Oby Ezekwesili complaining of President Muhammadu Buhari's "missed opportunity". She is one of those who helped him get the opportunity to miss an opportunity! It is an insult to our sensibilities for this woman to start wailing like she is doing! Has she forgotten when she was giving keynote speeches at All Progressive Congress events where she demonized former President Jonathan and deified Buhari by calling him a "discipline instilling" leader on March 7, 2014? Did it occur to her at that event that she was empowering the very person she is now denouncing? People like Oby are like the bush rat that Chinua Achebe wrote about. They bite you and blow breeze on your wounds so you won't know the damage they have caused. If Oby wants to know who is responsible for bringing Buhari to power, I can buy her a mirror. I assure her it won't be a pretty sight! Oby Ezekwesili is a sanctimonious hypocrite who likes to criticize but does not like to be criticized. She once threatened to report me to then President Jonathan when I responded to her criticism, as if Dr. Jonathan "gives a damn" about her opinions! The sad thing is that everybody, but especially her Southeastern kith and kin, knows she was used and dumped by people who know only too well her real nature. I suspect that her bitterness is that she could not attain the heights Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has attained and is still attaining. Now she continues to prance about giving subdued messages to the Buhari administration because she knows that if she unleashes on them like she unleashed on Jonathan she will be taught the difference between a democrat and a dictator! Oby, in case you do not know, you are a figure of scorn in the Southeast zone where you come from and considered a Quisling in the other zones of the federation. Reno's Nuggets When you make it, women will flock around you. Tantalizing as they are, don't forget the one who was there before you made it-mum! The love of your life can't divorce you, can't be separated from you and won't sue you. After God, your mother is the love of your life. Finally, marrying a girl because of sex is like buying a car because of its sound system. You will enjoy it, but you won't go anywhere #RenosNuggets Reno Omokri is a Christian TV talk show host and founder of the Mind of Christ Christian Center and the Helen and Bemigho Sanctuary for orphans. Elif Şafak Önemli olan soru sormaktan vazgeçmemektir, merak duygusunun yaratılmış olmasının da kendine göre bir amacı vardır.
