Tomato soup reminds me of my childhood. Of simpler times. Of the times my days were spent playing in the pool listening to Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC on repeat. I had a bunch of bananas I needed to use, so since we are Self Isolating, I got into my kitchen and made two different recipes, since I’m never one to waste food. The first one is from @joannagaines cookbook, Magnolia Table, that I’m still so obsessed with. It’s made in a cake pan and, to me, is more of a dessert in flavor thanks to the abundance of brown sugar in the recipe. My kids love this one. It is topped with granulated sugar just like my mom used to do 😍 The second one is my go-to for your stereotypical banana bread and that would be @mrsvitale recipe. It’s such a tried and true recipe. This is the flavor I want when I wanna make actual banana bread. Sometimes, nothing will suffice except a homemade juicy burger. When we do burgers at our house, we go all out. Tonight we did bacon cheeseburgers with Jalapeño Drip Jam from the Magnolia Table cookbook, lettuce, red tomatoes and bread and butter pickles. Perfection if you ask me. Sweet and spicy from the drip jam and the smoky from the bacon paired perfect with the tang of the pickles. Ricotta pancakes tonight! This was a newbie for me again. I used @joannagaines recipe, but added lemon zest to half the batter and orange zest to the other. Honestly, they’re not my favorite, but they still tasted great! Maybe it’s because her Fluffy Pancakes (which I make whenever we have pancakes) are SO amazing, but I’m not quite sure. These are very thin, kinda tangy and definitely sweet. These felt like fancy pancakes and, while they were tasty, I think I’ll be sticking to the old fashioned pancakes from now on!
