BEC’IKA
WOLFFE POV
“If Boost comms me one more time if you’ve had the baby yet, I’m going to kill him!”
“Rekr’ika” (Little Wolf/Wolfie) Jirli’s eyes looked at me with love and admiration as she rubbed her swollen belly, while she sat on the couch with her feet resting on the caf table, while Din and Boba were busy in the kitchen making her a ‘special snack’ that was supposed to help their sister grow or have special powers or something. They basically went on a ramble about Jedi powers and what not.
“Yes, love?” I placed a kiss on her temple, as I leaned over the back of the couch, my hand resting on her shoulder. She looked amazing, despite how tired and irritated she had been lately, we all were doing our best to help her in whatever way possible.
“You love the fact the Boost is comming ever second, especially since he started dating.”
I smirked at her statement, “Alright, you may have a point. May.” I held up my forefinger, “However, I should still be allowed to vent about my irritating little brother.”
“Mmhmm” she smirked as her hand held my forefinger as she shifted a little, wincing and gritting her teeth. Though she tried to hide her discomfort from me, I could read her like a book now.
“You okay? And please love, don’t try and lie to me” I smirked as I watched her.
She let out a sigh, as she eased herself into the sofa,“Yeah, she’s playing on my bladder. Feels like she’s doing tumbles in there.”
I chuckled, placing my hand on her belly, “Bec’ika (little pup), you need to stop hurting your buir” I leaned in closer, lowering my voice, “Otherwise, I’m the one who suffers.”
“Hey” she smacked my chest with the back of her hand, a playful light tap she would often use on me, “don’t tell her that, she’ll think I’m mean”
I took her hand placing a kiss on her palm, “No she won’t, plus she knows I’m kidding. Right, bec’ika?” I felt a tiny thump against my palm, “See, she knows”
“At least she listens to one of us”
“It’s my soothing, deep, rich tones riduur. She loves the sound of my voice” I leaned closer to Jirli’s lips, “Just like you do, when we’re alone.”
“Well, what can I say? My little girl is right to love your voice, after all like you said she’s not the only one” she smiled as she placed a kiss on my lips, “now” she pulled back smirking, “would you and your soothing, deep, rich tones please come over here and help me off the couch, so I can use the refresher?” She held up her hands grabbing the empty space in front of her, till I stood in front, taking her hands in mine.
“Yes, mesh’la” I chuckled, as I helped her stand. She shifted around the couch, till she was standing beside me, she was tittering on her feet, her belly was looking quite large, there was a very real and present fear that she could topple over, “Are you sure, you only got one kid in there?” As soon as the words came out of my mouth, I knew I screwed up.
Jirli turned to look at me, her hand squeezing mine, “What did you just say?” She tilted her head narrowing her eyes.
“Well … I mean …”
“Need I remind you, whose fault it is, that I am in this situation?” She quirked her eyebrow.
“Well I mean, it does take two” I held up two fingers to emphasize my point, “To dance, you know?”
“Oh, I see. So, you’re saying it’s my fault, that I’m so fat?”
“Th-those ….” I cleared my throat, “Those words never left mouth love.” I was praying to anything and everything to get me out of this situation, ‘Come on beb’icka, start jumping on your mom’s bladder so she has to leave’
“Then what are you saying?”
I took a minute to steady my nerves, “What I’m saying is you look beautiful”
“Mmhmm”
“I’m in trouble aren’t I?”
“Oh soooo much” she rolled her eyes, smirking at me “But, I have no doubt you’ll make it up to me.”
I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her closer to me, I lowered my voice, “Anything you’d like me to do for you?” I wiggled my eyebrows, she wrapped her arms around my neck, smirking.
“Oh definitely! I have a list of things, I need you to do for me” she rested her forefinger under my chin.
“Oh” I squeezed her waist, smirking.
“Mmhmm. First, the laundry needs to be done. Then, you need to help Din with his homework. After that, the floors need to be cleaned. The top floor needs a thorough cleaning, and once that’s all done, I may have a need for you to help me later on tonight” she flicked my chin, before she smirked as she headed to the refresher.
“Maker, I love you”
“I know you do, and if my daughter wasn’t using my bladder as a drum for her amusement, I would stand here all day explaining all the different ways you can assist me, however … nature calls, excuse me.
I watched as she waddled towards the refresher, my poor sweet Jirli, if only I could carry this burden for you. I walked into the kitchen, going over the list she gave me after she left my side. The silence coming from the kitchen however was unnerving me, knowing those two, when silence filled between them nothing good was happening. I was determined, as I took my steps to see what Din and Boba were up to, hopefully, I wouldn’t be entering a chaotic mess from their decision to ‘prepare snacks.’
“Alright boys, what’s going on?” I asked walking in on Boba and Din and the mess covering all the kitchen counters, not to mention they both had a look that said more than their mouths ever could.
“We made mom a snack.”
Boba held up the dish of various fruits, roughly cut, and leaking juice all over the plate, a small amount dripping on to the floor, with one of the biggest smiles on his lips, Din with a matching smile on his face. I looked at the plate, watching as the juice soaked everything on the plate, the cheese that was cut haphazardly was lying in a pool of some sort of pink juice. Beside the cheese were her favourite crackers, now soggy from a weird yellowish-pink juice. Din somehow was covered in fruit juice, and for some reason which I couldn’t even begin to fathom, there were crackers in his hair. Boba on the other hand had cheese on his face and juice dripping down his chin, along with a weird paste smeared on his forehead.
I tried really hard not to laugh, as comical as they looked, the plate of food looked even more ridiculous as everything sloshed around with each movement of Boba’s hands. I cleared my throat, doing my best to swallow the smirk and laugh.
“I have no doubt she will love it, why don’t you boys serve that to her, and I’ll get dinner going. Okay.” I watched as they headed towards the common room, “Oh and why not stand there and make sure she eats it. You know your buir is going to need her strength” how I got that sentence out without bursting out laughing was beyond me, however, I couldn’t wait to see her reaction.

JIRLI POV
Sitting back on the couch wasn’t as bad as getting up from it, I wonder if maybe that’s why my back was throbbing now, as comfortable and lovely as this couch has been for Wolffe, Boba, Din and I, it truly did not have the back support a pregnant woman needed.
“Buir!”
I looked to my two boys, they held out a plate of what looked like mush, “Oh! That’s … what’s that?” I tried hard not to laugh, rubbing my belly as I felt another throbbing pain, doing my best not to show my discomfort.
“We made you a plate of snacks for you.” Boba beamed proudly as he handed me the dish.
“We cut up all your favourites” Din added, “See here’s some jogan, and shuura, and muja fruit. We also cut up some cheese for you.”
“Right, this is bantha cheese, cut up in the shape of a bantha” I stifled the laugh at the shape that looked anything but a bantha, “This is also nerf cheese, cut in the shape of a nerf. There’s your favourite crackers too.” Boba pointed out every item as he described it, incredibly proud with himself and Din for what they had accomplished, which only made my heart swell to know they loved me as much as they did.
The crackers that used to have the most perfect crunch and flakiness to them, was a bunch of mush now. Regardless of how much of a mess the plate looked like, I appreciated the sentiment behind it.
I took the plate, placing it on the table in front of me, “Thank you boys, that’s so sweet of both my little itco’rkasih (dumplings), come and give me a hug” they both wrapped their arms around me, squeezing as hard as they could. “Alright, don’t squeeze too hard, you’ll pop out your little sister.”
“When is she getting here?” Din asked pressing his ear to my belly.
“Soon”
“How soon?” Boba asked resting his hand on my belly.
“Probably another week or two”
“Can’t wait. I’m gonna show her all the new stances I’m learning” Din stood demonstrating his moves, “See, she’ll be the best fighter, because I’m going to teach her. I’ll even show her how to use her blaster and knife probably.”
“Nuh-uh, I’m the best fighter” Boba went and stood beside Din, showing off his stances, it was cute and adorable, “If anyone is going to teach our vod’ika, it’ll be me.”
“Buir?” Din stopped his movements watching me carefully, “Why aren’t you eating?”
“Hmmm?” I really tried to pretend not to hear his question, as I watched Boba fight an invisible attacker, which only made him stop and turn to look at me.
“Buir said that we needed to stay here and make sure you ate. He said you need all your strength.”
“Oh he did, did he?” I should’ve know Wolffe had something up his sleeve, oh I couldn’t wait to make that man pay.
Din’s eyes widened as a puppy like expression appeared on his face, I swore they took more and more after Wolffe every day, “Do you not like it?”
“Of course, I do, love” I grabbed a piece of the soggy cheese, and put it in my mouth, doing my best not to gag as it slowly slid down my throat, the unusual texture and flavours throwing me for a loop, “Mmmm that is so good, thank you” I did my best to suppress the cough that was itching to come out.
“You need to eat more” Boba stated, now his face holding the same puppy like expression. “Especially for our vod’ika”
“Oh, I shall. It’s just …” sorry, sweetie but mom’s about to throw you under the speeder, I cleared my throat hoping that soggy cheese would just moved down my esophagus, “I think your vod’ika is needing something more substantial, especially since we’re eating soon.”
“Oh love, you don’t have to worry about that” Wolffe popped up beside me, leaning over the back of the couch, with a spoon in his hand, smirking, “It’s going to be at least an hour or two before we eat, so go on mesh’la, have some more of your snack.”
I placed a kiss on his cheek as I placed my hand on his pretending to take the spoon, taking the opportunity to whisper as quietly as I could to Wolffe, “I’m gonna make you pay for this.”
Wolffe simply smiled, “Mesh’la, I look forward to being punished by you”
I simply smirked at his little statement, grabbing the spoon, “You know” I turned from Wolffe to Boba and Din, “I feel absolutely guilty, knowing your buir is working hard in the kitchen without any sort of snack. Is it okay if I share this with him, I think it’ll be too much for the baby and me to eat. Is that okay?”
Din smiled nodding enthusiastically, “Yes, buir have some it’s really good.”
“Oh” Wolffe stammered, “I wouldn’t want to deprive our ad’ika”
“Nonsense, there’s plenty” I smirked, scooping up a pile of mushy crackers, juice, and soggy cheese. “Here you go sweetie, open up” I moved the spoon closer to his mouth, as he looked at me, narrowing his eyes. “Come on, the boys worked really hard on this, after all they cut the bantha cheese in the shape of a bantha and it tastes so good” I bit the inside of my cheek keeping me from laughing, as I gave him my best heart eyes.
“Come on Cabur” Boba chimed in, “We worked really hard on it.”
I could see Wolffe’s throat bobbing up and down, before he finally nodded, opening his mouth taking the whole spoon in without a second thought. He pulled the spoon slowly out of his mouth, chewing slowly and carefully, before he swallowed it completely. I could see him struggling to keep it down, before he smirked and smiled at the boys.
“Awesome job, boys. However, let’s let your buir rest, and come help me in the kitchen, we gotta clean and get things ready for dinner, come on.”
Boba and Din stopped their sparring and headed to the kitchen, Wolffe took the plate from my hand, smirking at me the entire time, “Cyar’ika”
“Hmmm” I tried to put on the most innocent face I could.
“You are in so much trouble”
“Hey you started it”
He pressed a kiss to my forehead, smiling, “Alright, you won this round. Don’t get use to it, love.”
I nodded against his lips smiling, “The fact you think you can win is adorable”
Wolffe pulled away, clearly fighting back a laugh, “I think I’ve won plenty of times my dear” he winked before he headed back to the kitchen. Once he left there was a sharp pain in my lower back, it didn’t last long, but it was intense in that moment. There was an intense pressure at first, that slowly eased. I stood up from the couch, trying to ease the pain.
Thankfully it didn’t last long, and before I knew it Wolffe came calling me in for dinner.

WOLFFE POV
Jirli wasn’t feeling all afternoon, it made me concerned, maybe I shouldn’t have made her try to eat that snack the boys made. Maybe it didn’t sit right in her stomach, or maybe the baby was more sensitive to certain foods, now that she was very close to being born.
“Cabur?”
“Yeah Boba?” I looked over my shoulder as I washed the dishes after dinner, while he helped me dry them, Din was busy cleaning the table and the floor.
“Is buir okay?”
“Yeah, she’s just not feeling the greatest”
“Is it because of the snack we made?”
“No buddy” I bumped his shoulder, “Sometimes when mom’s are about ready to give birth, they tend to feel a little up and down. It’s not the snack, buddy. It’s just her body preparing.”
“Okay” Although Boba seemed to agree, he wasn’t exactly relieved.
“Do you believe me?” I handed him the dish I finished washing as I cleaned up the sink, before turning off the water.
“I do”
“Then, what’s wrong?” Boba shrugged, Din came and stood beside us with a similar expression of worry, “Alright boys, let’s sit down at the table and talk okay?” They both simply nodded as they took a seat. “What don’t you boys tell me what’s troubling you?” I asked as I pulled out my chair.
Neither of them said anything at first, Boba clenched and unclenched his fists, Din was picking on some imaginary speck of dust on the table. I learned from Jirli the best thing to do is to wait to let the boys speak, no matter how long it took. “I’m going to make some tea, your buir, ba’buir (grandfather) Plo and ba’vodu (uncle) Kenobi always says there’s nothing that can’t be resolved over a cup of tea.”
We sat there keeping focused on our teas when Boba finally spoke first, “Will buir be in a lot of pain?”
“When?”
“When our vod’ika comes?” Din added
I took a sip before I decided to answer them, “It depends, every one who goes into labour, handles it differently. You have to remember that regardless your buir is a very strong woman.”
“What if she doesn’t like us?” Din mumbled through his cup, “What if she hates us?”
“Can I ask you something?” They both nodded, “You haven’t met her yet, do you like her?”
“Yeah”
“Definitely, but we’re not from the same blood” Boba offered.
“Just as much as you two love her, she will love you just as much. She may express it differently, but she’ll love you, because you’re her vode (siblings). Always remember, aliit ori'shya tal'din (family is more than bloodline), you will be always aliit (family), and your buir and I will love you both and any new adike (little ones) we welcome to rai (our) aliit the same. To us, you are all our children, and we love you all equally. Okay?” They both nodded in agreement, I reached out holding each of their hands, “Anything else you guys want to talk about?”
“How are babies made?” Din asked turning to look at me.
I blinked a few times, having the words played over in my head, I cleared my throat, just as I was about to answer, Jirli’s voice came screaming from our room.
“WOLFFE!!!!!”
The three of us looked from one to the other before I rushed up the steps, Boba and Din following close behind, as I ran into the room, she was lying on our bed, her face was all sweaty, she was panting, her hand was bracing her lower back, “Mesh’la what’s wrong?” I rushed to her side, she gripped my hand with the strength of ten Trandoshians, it was a good thing I was sitting on the bed, she easily could have brought me to my knees.
“The baby … she’s …” She squeezed my hand again, as she let out a breath, “She’s coming”
“Coming? What do you mean she’s coming?” The grip she had on my hand tightened, nearly making me fall off the bed.
“Are you seriously asking me!”
“Oh! She’s coming! As in now?”
Jirli turned and narrowed her eyes at me, somehow her pain subsided during the moment her anger blared looking at me “No, she sent an engraved invitation announcing she’d be arriving. You don’t see it because I was instructed to burn it right after reading it.” Her jaw clenched as her hand tightened on mine.
“Right, sorry.”
“Buir?”
I looked over to Din, he looked worried, Boba had his arm wrapped around Din’s shoulder, “She’s okay boys, listen call your ba’vodu Boost and ask him to come watch you guys, I’m going to take your buir to the hospital.”
“On it” Boba grabbed Din’s hand and rushed out of the room.
“Okay babe, wrap your arms around me”
“Wolffe … are … are you sure?”
“Definitely, let’s get you to the hospital” She nodded as tears streamed down her cheek, she wrapped her arms around me, squeezing, I could feel her fear, “Babe, it’s okay, we’re going to be okay, she’s going to be okay, and so are you.” I placed a kiss on her forehead, she took in a deep breath, relaxing her grip a little, as I picked her up in my arms.
Before long, Boost was standing there with the boys, as I placed Jirli in the speeder, “Boost, I’ll comm you once she’s in a room”
“Don’t worry about us, focus on your riduur. We’ll bring her overnight bag. Just comm when you get there and let us know when you need us to head over.”
“Thank you vod, contact Plo’buir, Anakin, Sinker …”
“Wolffe, shut up and get in the speeder!”
“Okay, I’m going. I’m just saying, don’t …”
“WOLFFE!” Jirli’s voice cut over the sound of passing speeders, and our voices, I turned to look at her, “WOLFFE GET YOUR ASS IN THIS SPEEDER RIGHT NOW OR I SWEAR I’M NEVER LETTING YOU NEAR ME AGAIN!!”
I didn’t need to think twice, I rushed to the driver’s side and rushed my cyar’ika to the hospital.

BOOST POV
If I hadn’t been on that platform, I would never have believed it. The moment Jirli raised her voice at Wolffe, he somehow became the most submissive man in the world. If he had a tail, it would have wagged left and right in a slow droopy manner. It took Boba and Din shaking my hand, to realize I had been standing there watching their speeder get smaller and smaller with a gapped mouth open.
“Ba’vodu Boost”
“Yeah, Boba?” I was busy tidying up the house a little, knowing my vod’ika she would freak if she saw the mess in the living room when she came home, “Shouldn’t we be going to the hospital?”
“We will” I stood, picking up wrappers from some sort of snack that had gotten stuck under the couch, “but it takes time for a baby to be born, so let’s do something your mom we’ll really appreciate when she comes home. It’ll be a surprise present for her, what do you guys think?”
Boba and Din nodded, “You’re sure it’ll take a while?” Din asked tilting his head.
“Definitely. We can head over to the hospital in a few hours, once we know the baby is on it’s way. However, let’s get the house cleaned, it’ll be one less thing for your mom and dad to worry about when they come back. Sounds good?”
They nodded in unison, at that moment I’d never been prouder of my nephews than seeing them roll up their sleeves, grabbing the cleaning supplies, and without so much as another word they began cleaning, and not a light clean a deep clean. Definitely, a habit they developed from Jirli, whenever she was stressed or concerned out came the cleaning supplies.
While they cleaned, I glanced at the comm message I received from Wolffe when they arrived at the hospital, ‘Keep the boys there. The baby isn’t in the right position. They’re hoping she’ll adjust herself. They’re monitoring the situation very carefully. However, if she doesn’t end up facing the right way, they may have to do surgery. I don’t want the boys to freak out, so for now keep them busy. I’ll message in an hour or two to let you know where we’re at.’
I looked from the comm to Boba and Din who were busy laughing and joking while they cleaned, excited to welcome their new vod’ika. I headed off to the kitchen sending a message to the family, letting everyone know what was happening. Hoping and praying that everything was going well for them.

WOLFFE POV
Dr. Natuspri examined and re-examined the scan, we had been there for nearly three hours, Jirli was having some difficulty breathing, but she was still her feisty self. At that moment, she reminded me so much of Plo’buir, keeping a calm exterior, trying her best to help keep me calm.
“Anything?” She let out exasperated by the silence filling the room.
Dr. Natuspri let out a deep sigh, she put the scan down, looking at the two of us, “I don’t think we can wait any more, her oxygen levels are beginning to dip, I don’t want to risk it. We’re going to perform a C Section. Wolffe, a C Section can be intense for some, do you think you’d be comfortable enough to sit with Jirli during the operation?”
“I can sit with her in the surgery room?”
“Yes, she’ll be awake for the C Section”
“Yes”
“Alright, the medic is going to come by in a minute to take you to get the appropriate gear and I’ll get the surgical droid to come in to wheel you in, Jirli”
Jirli squeezed my hand, “Is she in danger?”
“If we wait any longer, she could be. We’re doing this to keep her from being in danger.”
She simply nodded as she watched the Doc head out, I took her hand, placing a kiss on the back of her hand, holding it to my lips, as my other hand rubbed her womb “It’ll be okay, Jirli. She’ll be okay. You both will.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“Because you are a strong, powerful, intelligent woman who would do anything for her children, and that means both of you surviving for Din and Boba” I squeezed her hand, pressing it against my forehead, “And for me” I mumbled. “You’ll both survive for all of us. It’ll be okay.” I shifted her hand, looking at her face.
She bit her bottom lip, as her hand rested on top of mine, intertwining our fingers, “Wolffe …” I saw her lip begin to tremble, “If during the surgery” she cleared her throat, “If it comes between saving our baby or me …”
“Don’t mesh’la”
“Wolffe …”
“No. Riduur, I told you a long time ago, I’m not losing you. You’ll both be fine, trust me” I squeezed her hand, I shifted, kissing her with all my love, “You’ll be fine” I mumbled against her lips. She was about to say something more, when the door slid open, as the nurses came in ushering me out of the room as they got her ready for surgery. We shared one last look.
“I love you, Jirli”
She smiled mouthing ‘I love you,’ before a nurse took me down the hall explaining she was taking me to put on a gown, cap, mask, and shoe covers to keep the room sterile. It was a necessary process for the surgery, she went over the steps of how to wash my hands properly as well, helping me.
I hadn’t realized how nervous I was until the nurse took my gloved hands in hers, “Here let me help, your hands are shaking.” I couldn’t even answer her, I simply nodded as she took the gown from my hand and helped me put it on, my eyes were focused on Jirli’s room watching for any movement, I wanted to be ready to follow her into the room as soon as I could.
“She’ll be okay”
“Huh?” I turned to look at the nurse, she took my hand in hers again, holding it tightly. Her thumb rubbing against my knuckles back and forth. It felt strangely intimate with the way she was looking into my eyes and standing so close to me.
“Dr. Natuspri is very good, your baby will be in good hands, and I have no doubt your partner will be fine”
I didn’t know why at that moment, but something about the way she looked at me and held my hand made me uncomfortable, I pulled my hand out of her hold, and took a step back, “I have no doubt. My wife is a very strong and capable woman.” She offered a soft smile, taking a step towards me, her mouth opened as though she was getting ready to say something, however at that moment thankfully, Jirli came out of her room. I simply offered a quick word of thanks and rushed to Jirli’s side taking her hand in mine.
“Alright, dad” the head nurse setting up the surgical suite called my attention, “We’ll be putting up this curtain, trust me when I say you don’t want to look behind the curtain. Especially, if you’re squeamish.”
Jirli stifled a laugh as she laid down on the med bed, “Trust me, he isn’t squeamish, right Wolffe?”
“Nope, but I think I’ll wait till you’re not cut open to look. The idea of seeing my wife cut open isn’t exactly something I itching to see.”
“I think that’s a smart idea” the surgical nurse uttered, smirking at the two of us.
“You two okay?” Dr. Natuspri stood beside us as she came into the room, we both simply nodded, “Jirli we’re going to begin, you’re not going to feel anything, but I highly recommend you don’t look Wolffe.”
“Understood” I squeezed Jirli’s hand, placing a kiss to Jirli’s forehead, stroking her head, “It’s going to be fine. She’s going to be fine.”
Jirli smiled as she squeezed my hand, “I know. I’m just … Wolffe, we’re having our baby today. Our little girl is being born today.”
I smiled wide under my mask, “Yeah she is, rid’ika. I have no doubt she’s going to be just as beautiful as you are.”
“She’s going to look like you” Jirli closed her eyes, smiling, no doubt she was communicating with the baby, something she had been doing a lot lately. “She’s excited”
“Really?”
“Yeah, she’s sending feelings of warmth, anticipation, happiness and love. She’s going to be a very happy child.”
“Just like her mom, she’ll also no doubt be getting into a lot of trouble with two brothers who wreck havoc at any given moment.”
She had a smile on her face that went from ear to ear, “Speaking of our boys, did you message Boost?”
“Yeah, they’ll be waiting for you once your done. Not just them either. “
“You contacted everyone?”
“Nope Boost did.”
She smirked, looking into my eyes, when her eyes began drooping, her head slumped against the table, the strength in her hands weakened as it slipped out of my grip, “Jirli?”
Before she could answer me, before I could call out her name again or grab her hand, I felt a hand on my shoulder, as a baby’s cry fill the room, within moments I was being ushered from her room, outside by another nurse, and being directed to some sort of waiting room, all while my protests and calling of Jirli’s name fell on deaf ears.
“Wait! What’s going on?”
“Please wait outside”
I tried to push my way back in, but security guards appeared out of nowhere, forcing me into the room, they just directed me to “NO! Someone tell me , what’s going on!” I struggled against the two men who stood on either side of me.
“Mr. Koon,” a hand pressed against my chest, forcing me to look at the nurse in front of me, “I know this is scary and unexpected. Please take a deep breath” the nurse came to my side taking my arm, as I calmed down against the men restraining my arms. “I’ll explain everything Mr. Koon, my name is Angie, just come with me, and I’ll make sure they bring your daughter to you. However, for your wife’s sake and for the doctor who is working on her, I need you to remain as calm as possible. Do you agree?”
I simply nodded, trying my best not to think of the worst outcome possible. Angie offered a comforting smile as she directed me towards a chair, the room didn’t seem quite as full with despair as a moment ago. Before I even realized why I started to feel a comforting presence all around, there was this tiny bundle in my arms that looked exactly like Jirli. The moment my eyes met her tiny face, I had fallen in love, she had dark curly hair on the top of her head, her nose was perfect for her face, even her lips were so small and dainty, her fingers were barely able to wrap around my finger. She was barely the size of my forearm, she was so light, I could barely feel her in my arm. This moment didn’t feel real, but yet there she was in my arms, perfect and beautiful. My beautiful daughter.
“Sir?”
I felt my eyes welling up with tears, I took in a deep breath, before looking up meeting Angie’s eyes, she looked as though she was waiting for me to respond, “I’m sorry?”
“I was wondering if you are able to listen to what’s happening with your wife?
I closed my eyes focusing back on my ad’ika, “Yes” I trailed my finger over her tiny head, “What happened?”
“Your wife began bleeding heavier than the doctor would have liked one your daughter was safely delivered. The Dr. Natuspri is working hard to get the bleeding under control. I’ll come back to let you know when she’s out of the woods. Once the doctor is done, we’ll move her to recovery.”
Though I heard the words, I couldn’t quite grasp what she was saying, I simply tightened my hold on my ad’ika. “Is she going to survive?” I focused on my daughter, not wanting to look at the nurse who could possibly be changing my future, with one word.
“Dr. Natuspri is very good, she’ll do her best for your wife.”
I simply nodded, after all what was she going to say? She couldn’t provide me a guarantee on something she had no control over, as a soldier, as a the Duchess’ Head of Security I knew quite well there was no guarantees in life, and no one could guarantee anyone’s life. No matter how many precautions you took.
I heard the door slide open, when silence filled the room, it was just me and my ad’ika in whatever room they put us. I couldn’t focus on anything except her, she was keeping me calm the longer I looked at her; I felt a warm and calming presence fill me, I couldn’t help smile and place a kiss on her tiny forehead, my beautiful ad’ika, barely born a few hours and she was already trying to take care of me. Time seemed to stand still while I held her in my arms, “I promise I’ll make sure to take care of you ner ad’ika, however thank you for taking care of me. Ni kar’tyalir darasuum gar (I love you).”
“Mr. Koon?” I froze a little at hearing Dr. Natuspri’s voice, I looked up to see the doc there smiling, I hadn’t heard the door slide open or her footsteps coming closer to me, “Your wife is just fine.” I felt tears beginning to prick my eyes, as a weight lifted off my shoulders and chest. “There was a slight concern due to the excessive bleeding which sometimes does occur in caesarean . However, we got the bleeding stopped, her vitals are looking good, we’re moving her to recovery now. I’d like to keep her for an extra day or two just to make sure there are no re-bleeds or any other complications. Your daughter, as you can see, is doing well, very healthy and no complications. She’ll be able to go home with you tomorrow.”
I nodded, bitting back the tears, “Thank you, Dr. Natuspri” I cleared my throat, “What caused the excessive bleeding?”
“An old wound she had from the war, but like I said, everything looks really good. I’ll have a nurse come and bring you both to her, okay?” She placed a hand on my shoulder, giving it a light squeeze, “Mr. Koon, I believe there are some very impatient and very excited family members waiting for you in the waiting room” she smirked.

“She’s beautiful” Plo’buir took my ad’ika into his arms, “She looks so much like Jirli when she was first brought to the temple. How is my daughter doing?”
“She’s in recovery. They’re going to let me know when I can go see her” Boba and Din were peering from either side of Plo’buir trying to get a good look at their vod’ika.
“How are you?” Boost and Sinker both smacked my back as they stood beside me.
“Tired. Emotional. At one point, I was scared. Really scared.”
Sinker squeezed my shoulder, tapping his head against mine, “You gonna tell me who the father is?” He smirked as he glanced over to my face. One thing I could count on Sinker for was always trying to lighten up the mood, I gave him a quick jab into his side.
“Come on, vod” Boost added, “She’s too pretty to be your daughter. Jirli’s sure. Your’s … ehhh”
“If you two would like for me to teach you why I was Commander of the 104th, and why I’m your ori’vod just say the word. We’re in a hospital so even if you were both on the verge of death, someone would deign to save you” I gritted my teeth clenching my fists by my side.
Boost and Sinker chuckling, as they wrapped me up in their hug, “Relax vod” Sinker stated, “Yeah” Boost jeered, “We’re joking. Obviously, she’s your kid, she’s got that Wolffe scowl going” Boost motioned with his head.
We all looked at her, and sure enough there was a scowl on her tiny face, clear as day. I couldn’t love her more than I did at that moment. As much as sometimes my vode irritated me, I was glad to have them by my side, especially when my emotions were everywhere.
“Mr. Koon?”
I turned to the voice, it was the same nurse from before the one who held my hand too tightly, “Yes?” I growled at her, wanting to keep her away from my family and me.
“Your wife is in her room, if you would like to see her.”
“Thank you” my voice was stern, and my face said it all showing I wasn’t particularly impressed by that woman. She didn’t leave simply stood there looking at me, “Is there something else?” Neither Boost nor Sinker dared to interject, they knew me well enough to know that this tone was reserved for those who had crossed a line.
“Uh… no, sorry.” She quickly left, and I focused back on my little girl.
“What’s her name?” Din asked as he took her tiny hand in his.
“Well what if we wait till your buir wakes up and we can name her all together?”
Boba looked from his vod’ika to me, smiling, “Does that mean we can name her anything?”
“Within reason, Boba”
“Fine” he huffed out. I could just imagine what that boy was thinking of calling his younger sister.

JIRLI POV
My eyes felt heavy as I opened them, I felt the familiar talons of my father holding my hand, I turned my head to see Plo’buir sitting beside my bed, looking at me.
“If you needed a vacation that badly, you could’ve just commed, my dear”
I chuckled, as I squeezed his hand, “Sorry dad, but I wanted to create as much drama and attention as possible.” I winced a little as I shifted, “How’s Wolffe and my lil’ girl?”
Plo’buir let out a chuckle, “Wolffe is very much becoming wrapped around the little girl’s finger. He won’t let her down, even Boba and Din have barely had any chance to hold her. I was amazed he let me hold her for as long as I did.” I squeezed his hand, grateful that he was there by my side.
“When will I get to see her? I have even had a chance to see her …” the tears were beginning to well up, as I realized most had seen her before I had and I was her mother.
“Oh ad’ika, it’s okay” Plo’buir wrapped his arms around me, sitting on the edge of the bed, pulling me into a hug, “I’ll get Wolffe to bring her here now. I apologize greatly ad’ika, you should’ve been the one to see her first.”
I’m not even sure why I was crying so heavily into my father’s shoulder, it wasn’t logical, after all I was out after the surgery. What was Wolffe suppose to do, lock himself in a room until I woke up? If I ever woke up? The thought that I might never have seen my family again, never meeting my ad’ika, never have Wolffe’s arms wrapped around me …
“Shhh, ad’ika. It’s okay, I’ve got you.”
- - - - - - - - - - -
“Hey your buir is still sleeping, trying and be a little quieter” I could hear Wolffe’s voice calling to me from my half dazed sleep, my eyelids felt incredibly heavy as I opened them to see him sitting there with our ad’ika in his arms, Boba and Din looking at her, making faces and joking, while trying to irritating each other at the same time.
I couldn’t help smile at the scene in front of me, “Are you all behaving or are you driving the nurses up the wall?” I mumbled still half asleep.
Wolffe locked eyes with me, his adoration and nerves brimming at the edge of his eyes along with his tears, he took in a deep shuddering breath as a smile graced his lips, “You’re awake.”  Before I could even respond Boba and Din rushed to my side throwing there arms around me, clinging for dear life. I squeezed them just as hard in return, placing a kiss on each of their heads.
“Alright boys” Wolffe stood heading over to us as the boys kept squeezing me, “Your buir and I need to talk, and she needs to feed your vod’ika. Go spend some time with our aliit that are patiently waiting outside and no doubt causing a havoc, knowing Sinker, Boost and Anakin.”
“They made it?” I smiled sleepily.
Wolffe placed a kiss on my forehead, passing me our ad’ika in my arms, “Of course, they did.” He turned to the boys motioning with his head, “On your way boys”
“We’ll be back, buir”
“Be good, vod’ika” They waved bye as the door slid close, Wolffe took the seat beside me, helping me sit up.
He sat there watching the two of us, as a tear slipped down his cheek, I reached up wiping it with my thumb, cupping his cheek with my hand, he held it against his cheek turning my hand slightly placing a kiss on my palm, breathing in my scent. “You have no idea how much I wanted to break down the door and stay with you in the operating room. They had to have two security guards try and hold me back.”
I felt tears beginning to prick my eyes, as another tear slipped down his cheek, “What do you mean try?” I chuckled fighting back the tears.
He chuckled wiping the tears from his face, and then wiping the one that had slipped through my defences. “If it wasn’t for Angie, a rather convincing nurse, I would’ve killed the two guards trying to hold me back.”
“I believe it, but who’s Angie?”
“One of the male nurses that was there during your C Section”
“Oh, I see. Thought you developed a crush on one of the nurses or something”
Wolffe simply shook his head, pressing another kiss into my palm, “How could I possibly look at anyone else, when you are my everything. Your intellect, your courage, your faith, the way you look after our kids, after me, after our family, every day I get to know you a little more, every day I fall in love with you more than the day before. How could I ever look at anyone, when you are my heart.”
I shifted my hand grabbing his shirt, and pulling him to my lips. I gave him a quick kiss, smiling as he rested his forehead against mine, “I love you, Wolffe.” Apparently, this was too much for our ad’ika as she started to fuss and cry. “I guess this little one, wants some food, huh?” I chuckled, placing a kiss on her tiny forehead, which calmed her down a little, she grabbed my medic gown, pulling herself closer.
“Guess she’s really hungry”
“How long was I out for?”
“A few hours, one of the nurses said when we’re ready we can comm for the lactation consultant, if you are having difficulties feeding her.”
“Let me try first and see, Dr. Natuspri went over in detail what I needed to do.”
“Alright” It was a bit of a balancing act at first, thankfully, Wolffe helped me a little, but soon enough she was there in my arms, feeding.  “How does it feel?”
“Weird, but strangely wonderful at the same time. Although, I know for future kids I might not be able to feed them like this.”
“How come?”
“Depends on if I’m producing enough milk, if I’m producing too much milk, if I have a blocked milk duct, I could also get an infection, or if the baby is tongue tied.”
“Tongue tied?”
“There’s a strip of skin that attached the tongue to the floor of the mouth, sometimes it can be shorter then usual, making it difficult for the baby to suck.”
“The more you know” Wolffe chuckled watching us, “You know, we still need to name her and soon, before Boba and Din get some weird name they want to call her.”
“Did they already offer up suggestions?” I chuckled as I looked at her feeding without a care in the world.
“Yup”
“Do I want to know?”
“Well I mean ulle’a-ka’oa’yr (booger-eater) has a nice wonderful ring, and b'udaye- asa'yr (fart-lover ) certainly has it’s appeal, maybe for our fourth one?”
I couldn’t help laughing at their ridiculousness, “Maker how I love those two, you’re right we need to find a better name before they get a hold of the registration sheet.”
“Agreed.”
“Do you have anything in mind?”
“Diribua (Panacea - a remedy for all difficulties or disease), we could call her Diri for short”
“Diribua Koon, I like it”
“What about you?” Wolffe stroked her head, “Is there a name that you were thinking of?”
“Iu’a’a (Aurora -  Dawn), a long time ago Plo’buir once told me, the dawn marks the start of a new day, a new hope, a new possibility without limitations. She marks the beginning of a new era in our lives. What do you think?”
“Iu’a’a Koon”
“Iu’a’a Diribua Koon”
“Iu’a’a Diribua Koon” Wolffe nodded, placing a kiss on her tiny hand, “Pleasure to meet you ner bec’ika (my little pup)”
Whatever faced us, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt, our entire family and extended family were all there for us, and for all of our kids. However many they would be.

“How are you enjoying your evening, Jirli?”
Obi-wan’s face no longer held the underlying stress that had taken up residency on his face since the first battle of Geonosis, it was nice to see that he was able to relax, I couldn’t help but smile at the Negotiator, “It’s enjoyable, surreal.  Really surreal, but enjoyable.  How about you?”
“It’s been wonderful to feel the force move through everyone with peace, well a lot more peaceful then what it had been.”
I nodded, everyone felt relief when the war was declared over, “Satine had mentioned the same thing.”  I couldn’t help but smirk at his comment, we all knew what he felt for the Duchess, I hoped that now things would be different for the both of them, “She also mentioned that you are leaving the Order, is that true Jirli?”
I didn’t necessarily want to discuss my personal affairs in such a public place, “I heard the same about you, Obi-wan”, maybe he’d be more willing to talk about his future, than I was; I wasn’t ashamed of my future, but I also wanted to keep it to myself, even for just one more night.
“Wanting to leave, many are.  Convening in a few days to discuss various matters, the council will be.  To be a Jedi, one of the discussions will focus on what it means” Yoda added, I didn’t even realize he had come up beside us.
“I hope the discussion will be fruitful, Master.  However, until we are able to teach the difference between a healthy emotional response and what an immature and unbalanced response is, many will continue to leave or fall to the dark side.  Having to choose between the Jedi Order’s teachings, and listening to the force’s proddings is difficult to say the least.”
Master Kenobi stood stroking his chin, “You believe there is a difference between the two?”
“You mean between a balanced and an unbalanced emotional response?”
“No, following the teachings and what the force is telling us to do?”
“I do.  We as Jedi are taught to not have emotions, to not deal with what is a natural part of being a sentient being.  How is that in accordance with the force?  When the force encourages our emotions.  You, no doubt, have had the force encourage you in your emotions towards Satine, or are you denying that when you are with her, your force signature feels significantly lighter, like you can breathe.”
“I … It is difficult to answer”
“Not really, but that’s where learning to recognize our emotions, and learning how to deal with them in a healthy manner, instead of just shoving it away, will come in handy.”
“You believe that’s all it will take?”
“Stars, no! However, it is a start”, I looked over to Master Plo who came to stand beside me, I couldn’t help but smile, “after all, my father is an excellent example of what it means to have a healthy respect for your emotions.”  I beamed with pride, “If emotions and attachments were truly so horrible, would not our relationship have been a hindrance to our abilities?  Instead I know for myself, it has given me the strength and confidence to do what I know needs to be done.”
Master Yoda nodded, “Make a good point, Jirli does”.
“Correct me if I’m wrong father, but neither of us seem to struggle with the temptation to turn to the dark side any more than anyone else.  Even our attachment to our 104th ... sorry, what was the 104th battalion, made us stronger.  Knowing you are accountable to more than just yourself, gives you something extra to fight for, to keep yourself from drifting to the dark.”
My father’s force signature beamed with pride towards me, he rested his hand on my shoulder, “I must agree with my daughter.  Most of us who have worked closely with the clone army have inevitably formed attachments in one way or another.  Those who have formed a strong bond with our soldiers, ended up leading some of the strongest battalions.”
“You do have a point there, Master Plo” Obi-wan added, though he clearly was deep in thought.
“The 501st, 212, some of the strongest attachments with their generals and the 104th had the most victories, they also had.”
“Buir, may I speak with you for a minute”, we all turned to see Wolffe, come up beside my father.  Although some were slowly hearing about my decision to leave the Order, none outside of Anakin, my father and the 104th, had heard about Wolffe and I.  We both decided we wanted to make it public after the Gala event, we wanted everyone to focus on enjoying the end of the war.
I watched as the two most important people walked away from our circle, leaving Masters Kenobi and Yoda with myself.   As Wolffe walked away, I could feel his apprehension, which didn’t make sense as he was completely fine when we had arrived and during the evening as well.  Maybe something happened, I gave him a quizzical look, asking if I was needed, he simply gave me a slight shake ‘no’.
When I turned my attention back to Obi-wan, I saw a smirk appear, “What will the good Commander do now that the war is over?”
I gave him a crooked eyebrow, and a smirk in return “I’m surprised you have to ask, I would have thought Duchess Satine would have told you personally, Obi-wan.  Since you both are so … close.”
“Excellent point, Jirli.  To deny your feelings Obi-wan, don’t try.  About the Duchess, we all know how you feel.”
“Ha-ha, you got called out” I teased
“Careful Jirli, you out, I could just as easily call, about Wolffe”
Suddenly my throat was very dry, Obi-wan couldn't help but have the biggest self satisfied smile on his face.  His hand motioned towards me, indicating for me to continue almost saying ‘you’re move’.  I just shook my head, “The Duchess of Mandalore has asked Wolffe to head up security for her on Mandalore, which he has readily accepted.”
I couldn’t help but be proud of him, for the Duchess to single out Wolffe with such an honour was something he didn’t think would happen.  Wolffe thought for sure the coveted position would go to Cody, after all he was his right hand man.  When Satine did bring it up with him, he was hesitant at first to take the position, he knew I wasn’t her biggest fan, but at the end of the day she was trying to right her mistakes and treated those who worked with her honourably.  I told Wolffe the decision was his, and I would support him no matter what, while Wolffe was contemplating his decision, she had contact me, and asked me to be her Conflict Resolution Consultant, she was hoping to make amends with all the tribes and clans, to unite everyone.  We both readily accepted, with the provision that if we didn’t agree with anything that happened or how she treated people we would both leave, she agreed to our terms heartedly.
“That is commendable, I know several Commanders were hoping for that position.  Wolffe is clearly the right choice.”
I simply nodded, “My child”, my father’s voice came beside me, “did you tell them about your other news?”
“No buir, not yet”
“More news, have you?”
I blushed a little, this was something else no one really knew except for the Wolfpack, my father and Wolffe, “I adopted a son.  His father was killed when he was just 10 years old, and had been passed around his father’s so-called friends, being led to a life that no child should lead.  I have agreed to take him as my son.”
“Wolffe has also agreed to adopt a child,” my father added.  He had met his son, when he was on Mandalore discussing his new position with Satine, when they walked through an orphanage, “just before the end of the war a village was attacked” my father continued, he was so proud of Wolffe, “apparently Death Watch went in and saved who they could, when the war ended and Satine welcomed them back to Mandalore, they agreed to place the children in a temporary orphanage until a decision could be made.  Most of the kids were adopted quickly, when Wolffe was on Mandalore, he met his son, and adopted him right there and then.”
“Quite the honourable man, Commander Wolffe is, an excellent father, he will no doubt be.”
“I agree, he had an excellent example to follow” I nudged my dad, he chuckled under his breath, “You will be a wonderful mom, Jirli” Plo pulled me into a side hug.
“Agree, I do,” Yoda chimed in.  I thanked Master Yoda, and rested my head on my dad’s shoulder.
“I learned from the best buir” I whispered.
“That’s why you’re leaving,” Obi-wan added, I simply nodded.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Chancellor Organa, distinguished guests” came a familiar voice over the Gala, we all turned to see Anakin on the stage.
“What is he doing?” Obi-wan asked incredulously.
“Sorry Obi, he may be my brother, but you raised him.  So that” I motioned to all of Anakin, “that is all on you!”
Plo and Yoda couldn’t help but laugh at Obi-wan’s expense.
“I apologize for the interruption, don’t worry Obi-wan I won’t be up here for too long” I couldn’t help but chuckle at Anakin calling him out, “before I begin, I saw we give a round of applause to all the troopers here, who have done more for the Republic than any one citizen could have ever been asked for, ladies and gentlemen please give a round of applause to the Clone army”.
An uproarious round of applause and cheers filled the Gala room, once the room quieted, Anakin continued, “With the end of the war, we’ve had many changes…” I looked from Anakin to find Wolffe.  I saw him over by the bar with Rex, Wiggles, Jesse, Fives and Shaak Ti.
I noticed Jirli’s eyes on me, “She’s watching” I mumbled.
I saw Wolffe’s mouth move, everyone seemed to be laughing and looked joyful, however Mel looked positively giddy, although granted she was always a very happy person, actually everyone appeared really happy, I wonder what they could be talking about.
“One of those changes” Anakin’s voice cut back in, when I looked up to him, he had a smile that almost rivalled Wiggles’, “our own Commander Wolffe will be leaving the services of the GAR and taking a new position a Head of Security for Mandalore.  Commander, you have been an outstanding example of what it means to be a leader, to be part of a family, to form your own family with the Wolfpack”, howls were heard throughout the Gala from the Wolfpack, “we all learned a lot from you Wolffe, thank you for your service and the sacrifices you have made.  We can’t wait to see what more you have left to teach us.”
Another round of uproarious applause erupted from the room, I locked eyes with ner rekr, and winked at him, his face blushed at that, he was adorable.
“However, Commander Wolffe is not the only one to be leaving us and heading off to Mandalore.  Really, Duchess, did you have to take all of our best people?”
Everyone chuckled.
“Commander Jirli Stonn, my dear sister, will be heading to Mandalore as well”, I swivelled my head back at him and glared, I couldn’t believe him, he wasn’t supposed to say anything.  I mean everyone was going to find out eventually, but …
“Padme, love, if I go missing make sure to question Jirli.  My sister is clearly glaring at me because I wasn’t supposed to say anything” Anakin gestured over to me, everyone turned chuckling, noticing everyone watching made my face blush.
I couldn’t help but watch as my cyar’ika was the center of attention, she hated always being called out in public.  I told Anakin this was a bad idea, but he was stubborn.  I hope Padme knows he wasn’t joking, once he’s off that stage, Jirli will be ready to kill him.
“Sorry, Jirli, but everyone should be as proud of you as I am”
I couldn’t help but smirk at him, annoying as he was, I did love him.
“Don’t worry ladies and gentlemen, I won’t be up here all night, prattling on, like some other Jedi Masters I know” Anakin winked at Obi-wan.  “Jirli, my dear sister, we are going to miss having you around here, your antics, your calming presence.  Well they are” Anakin motioned towards the crowd, “I’ll probably be visiting you more often than not on Mandalore.  Sorry, Padme.  I mean I’ll make an effort to split my time evenly between here and Mandalore” Anakin winked at his wife, who simply just shook her head.  Everyone couldn’t contain their laughter, seeing Padme’s patience continue to be tested.
“Jirli, you taught us what it truly means to love, to accept and welcome everyone into your family and your heart.  You showed us what it means to be balanced in the force, to show us that attachments are not a hindrance.   You taught us more than any sacred text has, apologies Masters Yoda and Windu”
“Skywalker” Master Windu’s voice came from the crowd, “I think this is the first time, you and I are in agreement”, I was shocked out of all the Masters, Windu was the one I could never see eye to eye.  His praise and realizing how he viewed me, brought me to tears.
“My sister will be taking up her new position as Duchess Satine’s Conflict Resolution Consultant.  Now I had to ask Jirli what that even means, she will be responsible for finding the best way to unite Mandalore, unite the tribes and clans and make reparations for those seeking justice.  That is a heavy undertaking, one suited for my extremely patient, kind, loving and good natured sister.  If you have any doubts with regards to her patience, simply ask Commander Wolffe on how he treated her when she first joined the Triumphant.”
Everyone laughed and clapped, shouting cheers of congratulations.
Self-note, remember to kill Anakin.
I looked at Wolffe, I could tell from his face, he was thinking of probably 10 different ways he could kill Anakin and hide his body, I chuckled a little.
I turned to look at Jirli, remembering how I treated her those first few weeks really made me shameful.  Yet without fail, my cyare simply gave me a smile, that meant she held no ill will towards me.  My heart aches for this woman’s love, she was too good to me.  Better than I could ever deserve, and I needed to make sure I showed her just how much I loved her.
Wolffe’s face relaxed a little after I smiled my best ‘don’t worry, love’ look.  I couldn’t wait to hear all his different plans for killing Anakin.
“Now as I said before, you won’t have to listen to  me prattle on any more.  However, Jirli’s other brother, would like to say a few words, Sergeant Sinker.”
Anakin stepped aside shooting me a wink, maybe Wolffe and I could come up with a plan to kill him together, either way I was definitely going to get him back.
“Commander Wolffe, vod’ika, could you both make your way to the dance floor here in front of us, and if I could ask everyone else to vacate the dance floor.”
No one even questioned his request, they all parted, leaving a big empty space.  Wolffe didn’t even hesitate, he moved to the center of the floor while I clung on to my father’s arm.  I was not planning on moving, or becoming any more of a spectacle, however, both Obi-wan and my father had other plans, and ushered me to the floor.   I stood there in my dress that represented the 104th very clearly, butterflies were flying around my stomach.  Wolffe simply smiled at me, his eyes full of adoration, makers, how I love this man.
“Hey” I whispered
“Hey” he quietly said back, neither of us could help but smile at each other, as I looked into his eyes, I realized how completely besotted I was by this man, so much so I forgot we had an audience.
“Commanders, we wish to say goodbye to you, and ask that you share this dance with us.  Ladies and gentlemen after the first song, please feel free to join the couple, but for now the first song will be for our Commanders as they dance to an old favourite of the Wolfpack.  Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, Warthog and his Wolfpack”
I looked up to see Warthog take to the mic, Sinker on bass guitar, Comet on drums, Blackout on the electric guitar and Whiskey was on keyboard. I couldn’t help but beam at our family, they were talented and now everyone was going to see how amazing they were.
“Do they really expect us to dance, rekr?”
“I think so, cyare”
“Ugh!”
“Come on, it’ll be fun!” He stepped towards me holding his hand up, while his other hand found its purchase on my waist.  It’s not like Wolffe to be so public, but I couldn’t say no to him.  I took his hand and rested my other hand on his shoulder.
The music started, it was Jirli’s and the Wolfpack’s favourite, I often heard her hum the song when she was focused on her work, or when one of the boys was sick, and she stayed by their bed comforting them.
Stars shining bright above you
I didn’t realize how lovely Warthog's voice was.
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
“I can’t believe you’re dancing in public”
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
“For you, I’d dance anywhere, anytime”
Dream a little dream of me
I noticed how her cheeks started to blush at my confession, I couldn’t help but draw her closer to me, I moved our hands to press against my chest.
Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me
“Are you ready?”
“For?” I asked
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
“To be a full-time dad, we got two lovely boys waiting for us to be a family, rekr”
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me
“I really can’t.  I was actually talking with Din today, and he was telling me all the cool things Djarin has been teaching him.  I told him that I couldn’t wait for him to show me, and add to the skills Djarin had been showing.”  I beamed at Wolffe’s confession, he was going to be an amazing dad.  He was already proving that with my son.
Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear
“I can’t wait to hold him and shower him with kisses” my cyare confessed to me, “Boba’s also really excited too, he and Din have been talking all week.  He’s looking forward to having a younger brother.  I can’t wait till our family is united and I can hold both of them in my arms, and let them know they’re going to be loved no matter what.”  I couldn’t help myself at that confession.
Just saying this
I drew her in even closer, I didn’t care we were in public, I didn’t care that everyone was watching us.  I pulled her into a kiss, and completely forgot about everything.
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
When his lips met mine, I forgot where we were and kissed him back, that was until I heard Wolf whistles, and cheering from everyone around us.  The band simply played on, never missing a beat.  I couldn’t help but chuckle a little against Wolffe’s lips.
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
When Wolffe pulled away, Warthog stopped singing, while the music played on, he was getting teary eyed as he stood there looking at me, his eyes were full of adoration.  He looked as though I hung the stars myself.
It’s now or never Wolffe, I gave Anakin the hand signal and the music stopped.  Jirli looked completely and utterly confused.  Makers I loved this woman, and her expressive face, I never had to question what she was thinking. It was always evident right there for me to see.   I took a deep breath, moved my hand that had been on her lower back to my pocket and pulled out a ring box.  I took the hand that was pressed against my chest and held it, as I got down on one knee before her.  Everyone in the room gasped, there were whispered questions, which I did my best to ignore.
Jirli’s face was one of utter shock and joy, how she managed both emotions at once, was beyond me.
“Cyar’ika” I began, her free hand clenching and unclenching beside her, “ever since that moment you walked on to the bridge and into my life, you have been my guiding star.  You never treated me as anything less than what you thought I deserved, often when people look at me, they see the predator, the guard dog, ready to defend it’s home and family.  However, you cyare, when you look at me, you see me.  That first day on the bridge, you didn’t flinch from me, you didn’t look terrified, you simply saw me.  You saw so easily what I made a point to hide.  I knew, from that moment, I knew what it meant to be truly loved.  Jirli Stonn-Koon, will you do me the honour of becoming ner riduur and allow me to show you what it truly means to be loved by you?”
She was silent, in fact the whole room was silent, no one moved, no one talked, you could hear my heart beating through my chest, it felt like forever before she answered.  Her smile grew and beamed at me even wider than I thought ever possible, her eyes were filled with tears and she started to nod emphatically.
“Is that a yes?” I asked tentatively.
“Yes.  Yes! YES WOLFFE, I’LL MARRY YOU!”
An eruption of applause, congratulations, whistles, wolf howls, cheering and clapping sounded throughout the Gala.  I slipped the ring on her finger, wrapped my arms around her waist, pulled her into my arms, pressing my lips against hers deepening the kiss as I picked her up and spun her around.
“Ladies and gentlemen, now that’s how you propose!!” Sinker’s voice shouted over the room, everyone howled in agreement, I rested my forehead against Wolffe’s as he held me off the ground.
“I love you, cyare”
“I love you, ner rekr"
The music started playing again, other couples started dancing around us, Wolffe gently lowered me, I grabbed his hand and walked over to my father, he met us halfway and bear hugged us together.
“I’m so proud of you both, now Wolffe, you’ll really be my son.  Jirli, you found yourself a good man, both of you are going to be amazing parents”
“You’re coming with us to meet Din, right?”
“Of course, little one.  After all Boba and Din are my grandkids, I need to spoil them.”
Jirli leaned into my side, as our buir talked excitedly about the wedding to be held in a month’s time.  We agreed we didn’t want it to be drawn out for too long, we wanted to give Boba and Din peace and security knowing their parents weren’t going to go anywhere.  We stood there for what seemed like forever as everyone came to congratulate us.
Sinker came to stand beside me.
“Alright vod’ika, if you feel you’ve made a mistake, just give a sign, and I’ll bust you out of here, faster than you can say Jabba the Hut.”
“Sinker’s right, Jirli, you have any doubts and we’ll provide the escape” Anakin added as he walked over to us.
“Hey, I can hear you!” Wolffe chided
“Vod, get use to having two over protective brothers checking in on you”
“… and an overprotective father, but that’s on both of your behalf.  If you need an escape Wolffe just say the word.”
“Hey!”  My father couldn’t help but chuckle, “what happened to I’m proud of you … you got yourself a good one.”
“I said that about him, and I am proud of you”
“Mmhmm” Dad pulled me into a hug, “I love you, my child.  You are a good one too”
I simply chuckled against his chest, “love you too, Dad”.
“Cyar’ika”
“Yes, ner rekr’ika”
“Ha! Rekr’ika, so using that!” Sinker joked
Wolffe turned his eyes on Sinker, “Do and die!” His tone was steely, as he said that through gritted teeth, I couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Yes, Wolffe?” I asked, hiding my laughter
“We should head out soon, Boba’s baby-sitter should be leaving in an hour”
“True” I stood on my tip toes and gave my father a kiss on the cheek, “See you tomorrow, right?”
“Yes, little one. Tomorrow” we hugged once more and then I gave a goodbye hug to Anakin and Sinker, “Ani, tell Padme, I’ll contact her about wedding details.  No doubt, she’ll want to help.”
“No worries, sis, she may be pregnant but planning a wedding will be a good distraction for her.”
I looked for Obi-wan and Master Yoda, but couldn’t find them right away. I'd make a point to find them tomorrow at the temple.  Wolffe and I started walking out, arms wrapped around each other, when we heard Rex call us over to the bar.
“Can’t let you guys leave without a shot first, to congratulate the newly engaged couple.”
We look around to our family, Rex, Wiggles, Jesse, Fives, Shaak Ti, Plo who had followed behind us, Obi-wan and Yoda were behind the bar serving drinks, the Wolf Pack came to stand beside Wolffe, Warthog was standing beside Rex, Anakin, Padme and Sinker, our family that was going to keep growing.
“Everyone has their drink?” Rex asked.  He raised his, “Congratulations to Wolffe & Jirli, you guys better make us all uncles and aunts”, I looked at Wolffe and smirked, “actually” I began “we do have some news on that front!”
“You’re pregnant!” Mel shouted
“I’m not pregnant!” I responded, every time, I said I had news that was her go to response.
“She’s not” Wolffe confirmed, “no, we have adopted two boys, Jirli and I adopted Boba Fett and Din.  Boba is currently living with Jirli, Din is currently on Mandalore, but we’ll be all together by week’s end.”
Everyone was shocked, except for my father, Anakin, Padme and Sinker. It was funny to see how everyone’s mouth was gaped open, even Master Yoda and Obi-wan were shocked.
“Question” Fives asked, raising a finger, “How did you manage to adopt Boba?”
“Long story” Wolffe began, “the jist of it is this, when he was arrested on Windu’s ship, after the attempted assassination …”
“I had heard about what happened, and stepped in.  I spent quite a few weeks with Boba, helping him to cope and making sure he had all the help he needed.  One day when we were talking, I was on my way out when he hung on to me, and I just knew I didn’t want to leave him.  I wanted to be the one to take care of him.  I asked if he wanted to live with me, he said yes.  He’s a good kid, just had the worst hand dealt him.”
“He calls her mom” Wolffe beamed
“Does he call you dad?” Rex asked
“No, and I’m not pushing him to, I’m not there to replace his father.   Simply there to show him someone cares for him and has his back.  He’s my pup and he knows I’ll protect him, love and care for him no matter what, both he and Din know that.”
“He calls Wolffe, Cabur, which I think is precious” I said proudly, as I leaned into his side even more.
“That is an enormous compliment, my son”, Plo added, “for a child to call someone their protector, is not nothing.”
“He’s right,” Obi-wan chimed in, “no child would bestow the honour of a title that holds so much power, to just anyone.”
“To Wolffe, the fiercest Cabur, anyone could ask for” everyone raised their shot and drank.
“One more shot” Anakin said, Obi-wan and Yoda refiled everyone’s glass, “To Jirli, best sister, fiancé and mom, anyone could have asked for!”
Everyone drank, Wolffe left a tender kiss on the crown of my head.  Before we left, everyone gathered together for a big giant group hug.  Our family was safe, everyone was getting their happy ending.
We eventually made it to my apartment. I thanked the babysitter, and paid her for her time, while Wolffe walked in, calling for Boba, “Boba, we’re home.”
I turned to the kitchen to turn on the kettle, when I heard Wolffe’s voice, “Jirli”
“Yeah”
“Come see this”
It piqued my curiosity, because the baby sitter had said Boba was in his room, drawing.  I walked towards Wolffe’s voice, he motioned to me that I should be quiet.  When I peered into Boba’s room, we found him sprawled out, asleep on the floor, surrounded by hand made banners, written in Basic and Mando’a, that read ‘Welcome Home, Din’, ‘Welcome newest pup’, ‘Welcome to the Wolfpack!’
It was so adorable, Wolffe, picked up Boba and gently placed him on his bed, when I noticed a card had fallen to the floor.  I picked it up, along with his banners, when I noticed the card was quite long.
‘Dear Din
I can’t wait for you to be here with us.  You’re going to love your new family.  It’ll be hard at first, you're gonna miss your mom and dad.  It was for me.  But my new parents are the best.  They have never let me forget how much I’m loved.  Dad makes sure to spend time with me as often as possible, he even makes a point to talk about my father, and to let me know it’s okay I miss him and want to talk about him.  He’ll do the same for you, I know it.  He’s our Cabur, and I love him for that.  Our mom is the best, she’s kind, warm and loving.  She doesn’t pretend to care like some other moms do, she really does care.  Every night she tells me a story and kisses me good night, I’ll know she’ll do it for you too.  Maybe we can share a room, so we can listen to the story together.  She never expects me to fill a role or to be someone I’m not.  She loves me for me, and she’ll love you just as much.
Welcome home, little pup.  You’re now and forever part of the Wolfpack.
Love your big pup, Boba’
I couldn’t help but tear up a little.
“Cyare, you ok” Wolffe whispered not wanting to wake Boba up, I simply nodded and gave Wolffe the card, he read it while I tucked in my older son and left a kiss on his forehead.
“Goodnight, pup, sweet dreams.” I whispered, I felt Wolffe’s hand on my back.  He leaned over, and gave Boba a kiss on his forehead, “Goodnight pup, we love you.”
We turned off his lamp and closed the door.
“So” I turned to Wolffe as we walked to the kitchen, “are you ready to be a full time dad to two kids?”
Wolffe pulled me into his arms, a smile appearing on his face, “Why stop at two?”

THE FIRST MILE
“Master, we’re all ready over here at the canyon”
“Very good Jirli, may the Force be with you” Master Plo responded.
“May the Force be with us all,” I looked over to Commander Cody, “what do you think Cody?”
“I think we’re as ready as we’re going to be Commander”
“You know you can just call me Jirli, everyone does”
“Yes, Commander Jirli” Cody said with a smirk
“Clearly, you have developed General Kenobi’s sense of sass”
“Whatever do you mean?” I just chuckled at his smirk, I looked over the squad I'd been assigned a mix of the 212th and the 104th, all good men, ready to fight to the bitter end.  Despite their experience, I could feel their anxiety through the force, “Cody, let’s gather the men before we get into our positions.”
“Men, form up!”
Within an instant, all eight men stood before me and the Commander, “Before we get into positions, there’s something I want to say, the last time I was on a mission, it didn’t go well for me, as many of you probably know.  After all, gossip is never in short supply in the GAR”, they all chuckled in agreement, I could feel their tension lessening.  “Although I haven’t worked with any of you before, I have worked with your brothers.  My squad was my family, they meant everything to me, therefore by extension you, all of you, are my family.  Which means I will defend each and every one of you till my dying breath. Understood?”
Everyone nodded, I could see some were a little shocked at my statement, “If anyone is injured, if anyone gets so much as a scratch, I want to know about it.  Understood?”
“Yes, Sir” came one resounding voice.
“No one gets left behind!”
“Yes, Sir” came two more
“No one is dying on this battlefield!”
“Yes, Sir!” most of the men shouted.
“Do you know what we are?  We are stones.  Each one a boulder of strength.  Get enough boulders together and they become an impenetrable mountain.  Today WE are that mountain!”
“YES, SIR!” Everyone cheered.
“Get to your positions and may the Force be with us.”
They all hollered and cheered, as they headed to their positions, all eight men were taking the high ground, only Cody and myself were going to be near the cannon's exit, hidden in the crag that was off to the side.  The only one visible to the droids would be me, and only when I stepped out of the crag, once the droids were close enough.
“Very moving speech Commander”
“Alright there sass mouth, you don’t have to lay it on that thick. I’m not the best when it comes to speeches.”
Cody reached for my shoulder and turned me to face him “I wasn’t being sarcastic, Jirli.  I was being honest, I will fight by your side, whenever and wherever, vod’ika.”  I couldn’t help the smile that appeared on my face, I didn’t even have a response really, I simply nodded his acceptance.
My comm beeped, “Jirli?”
“Yes, Anakin?”
“It seems your plan is working, the droids are turning towards the canyon, they've lost about 20 droids so far, they’ll be on your position in less than ten minutes.”
“Thanks Anakin, be careful”
“You too.”
“Alright men'' Cody comm-ed the team, “we just received word, the droids are coming, they’ll be here in ten minutes, stay frosty gentlemen”, all the men pinged back their acknowledgement.
“Stay frosty?” I asked tilting my head
“What? No good?”
“Nah, I like it,” I smiled back at Cody.
Ten minutes felt like hours, but eventually we saw the tops of the droids coming over the ridge, heading towards the entrance of the canyon.  At this point all the teams would be converging on our location, it was just a matter of how long I could keep the droids distracted, giving the teams time to get situated.  We had estimated it would take about 25 minutes for the other teams to converge on us.  Cody was crouched beside, his hand on the detonator, his breathing was steady, calm.  His presence was soothing, clearly being around Master Kenobi had helped him keep his feelings in check, I had no doubt he would only press the detonator once I gave him the signal.  The droids were less than five feet away from where Cody and I were positioned.  I grabbed his forearm, squeezed it once, and walked out of where I was hiding.
I stood in the path of the droids, my robe was blowing in the wind, the hood covering my face, here’s hoping these droids wouldn’t just shoot first and ask questions later.
Breathe.  I closed my eyes and felt the force around me, guiding me, calming me.
“HALT!” The droid's voice echoed through the canyon walls.
“Explain.  Why have we stopped?”  The tactical droid inquired via the holo comm.
“There is a person standing in the way” the lead droid answered
“You can go no further!” I demanded in my most commanding voice
“They say we can go no further” reported the droid
“I suggest you go back and leave this planet!”
“They want us to leave the planet” echoed the droid
“We have orders, proceed” came the command from the tactical droid.
“I said, you CANNOT go any further!” My voice echoed through the canyon walls
“They aren’t moving” informed the droid
“Eliminate them” was the order issued
“Attack me and you will cause your own destruction”, I reached for my lightsaber under the robes, but I didn't ignite it.
“Commander, they have something in their hand”
“What do they have?” Asked the commanding droid
“A cylinder of some kind”
“Cylinder?”
“Not just any cylinder” I answered the unseen droid at the back of the battalion, I ignited my lightsaber, the white light of my lightsaber shining and humming.
“JEDI!!”
I raised my saber into a fighting stance, and within seconds, the bombs went off, a dust cloud emerged.  Using the dust as cover, I went in between the droids, cutting down all that stood before me, with each slice, I saw the faces of my dying squad over and over again.  The only thing that could be seen amongst the dust was the light of my saber swinging, most of the droids were destroyed from the bombs.  Every so often I heard a blaster bolt being shot from above, once the dust settled, the only thing remaining standing was the tactical droid’s tanker, which didn’t last long either as Master Plo and Commander Wolffe, came up from behind and destroyed the tanker within a matter of seconds.
I stood before both men, while both looked over my shoulder at the carnage I had left in my wake.  Cody came up from behind me, “Couldn’t have left us a few tinnies to thrash?”
“Sorry Cody” I laughed, placing my hand on his right shoulder, “next time, I’ll make sure to leave you a few more”.
“Wait, you did all of that?” Commander Wolffe asked
“What?  Did you think I was all looks and no skill?” I teased
“Little one, are you okay?” Inquired my master
“Never better, Master.  It was very …” I looked back at the destruction, a grin forming on my face, “… cathartic.”  The smile on my face beamed as I looked upon my old Master.  This is exactly what I needed, an opportunity to get back some sense of justice for my squad, my family, my love.
“Jirli!” came Anakin’s voice from behind Commander Wolffe, when he saw me standing before the tanker, my Master and the two commanders, I noticed his relief, his shoulders and face relaxed, I also felt it in the force.  Without thinking, he rushed over and hugged me, it was a bone crushing hug, but it was comforting, as only a brotherly hug could be.
“Okay Anakin, I think you’re breaking a rib now” I managed to squeeze out, Anakin laughed into my shoulder, “Well then, don’t scare me like that again”, he grabbed my upper arms, pushing me far enough away to look at me, “Are you okay? Any injuries?”
“None” I beamed back, I turned my attention back to Cody, “Cody, what about the Stones any injuries?”
“Only one” came his solemn voice, “Who?” concern laced my voice, moving out of Anakin’s hold and stepping closer to the Commander, I grabbed his forearm.
Seeing the Commander touch Cody’s shoulder and then grabbing his arm made me uneasy.  I didn’t understand why her touching him made it feel as though a weight had been put on my heart.  I couldn’t help but clench my fists by my side.
“Boil, he … “ began Cody, looking away from my eyes for a second, I saw him take a deep breath, oh no.  No. No.  Looks like you may be responsible for one more.  Shut up!
He turned to face me, and a small smirk began to appear, now I was confused, “He says he got a scratch on his right hand when he was climbing to his position.  Wondered if you could look it over?”  I couldn’t help but laugh, Cody’s eyes were warm and jovial, “You really are sassy! I think you need time away from General Kenobi."
"Is that an invitation?"
I just shook my head.  If Commander Wolffe doesn't do it for you, there's always Cody.  Yeah, not gonna happen.
"Tell Boil, he's better off seeing the medic.  In fact, let him know I'll check in with the medic to make sure he did get it taken care of, we wouldn’t want the scratch to get infected, now would we?” I winked at Cody.
“Yes, Commander” Cody saluted while trying to keep his face stoic and failing, as the blush appeared on his face, Cody walked off in search of Boil.
Master Kenobi walked over, “The Stones?”
“Oh, I nicknamed my squad”
“You mean, my squad”
“Relax Master, I’m not keeping them, not yet anyways.  I may be back for them later.  I really enjoyed working with them.”
“So do I, young one.  Just so you know I’m not going to give up my men to anyone, not without a fight”.
I couldn’t help the grin that was on my face “Master, attachment is not the Jedi way” I teased.  Anakin started to laugh, when Master Kenobi shot him a look, turning his laugh into a cough.  Anakin looked at me and winked.  I knew I was pushing it, but we did just have a successful campaign, time to revel in it.
“Are you really lecturing me on attachment, Jirli?”
I could see the crinkle in his eye, Curl and I were the worst kept secret, it only made sense the Master Kenobi would have known. I didn’t respond, simply looked to the ground, while I smirked.  It felt good to laugh and remember Curl with fondness not tragedy.
“I think it’s time we head back to our respective ships” Anakin suggested.
“Agreed” Master Kenobi said, “Jirli, good job on the execution of your plan.  You might be happy to note there were no casualties.”  I looked from Master Kenobi, to Anakin, to Master Plo, they all nodded, reinforcing Master Kenobi’s statement.  No major injuries.  No casualties.  I couldn’t help but well up with tears at the joy of that.
“Before we leave, we need to clean up the bombs that didn’t explode” Master Plo advised.
Although all eyes were on my Master, I could feel one set of eyes focused on me.  I glanced over to see Commander Wolffe’s eyes burrowing into my stature.  I couldn’t help the uneasiness that washed over me from the intensity, I shifted slightly to hide behind Anakin.  Why did this man’s gaze unnerve me?  Maybe because you like it.  I wondered when you were going to pop up again. Surprised you were able to keep quiet during the fighting.  I know better than to distract you during an actual mission.  Thank goodness for that, but you’re wrong.  Am I?  I don’t like being scrutinized.  I think you like having someone look at you, the way he is.  Very different from the way Curl used to look at you.  I’m not interested.  Whatever you say.
“Excuse me gentlemen, I promised I would look in on Boil”, I walked away from the intense eyes that were burning a hole into me.
She took on the remaining droids?  She gave her temporary squad a name? She wanted to know if anyone was injured?  I  have to admit her plan was successful,  it didn't even cost us one life.  I  could see from his expression, Cody was ready to follow her anywhere.  Sinker is ready to defend and follow her.  Curl certainly was ready to devote his whole life to her, in fact he did.  Had I cheapened his sacrifice?  Was I wrong about the Commander?
“Commander Wolffe?” I looked up to see, everyone had moved away except General Skywalker.
“General Skywalker”
“Everything alright, Wolffe?”
“Yes, sir, why do you ask?”
“First, you're still standing here, instead of heading towards your shuttle.  Secondly, you haven’t stopped staring at Commander Stonn since I arrived, in fact, you still followed her with your gaze as she walked over to the medics.  Is there an issue with the Commander?”
Was I really just staring at her the whole time? Snap out of it di’kut.  I forced my eyes to look at General Skywalker "No, sir.  There’s no issue with the Commander.”
Come up with a plausible excuse for staring, come on fool.
“I was just trying to reconcile how a tiny woman like the Commander took on an entire battalion or what was left.  I can’t imagine what that looked like, it probably was something to behold.”
The General let out a chuckle, “You have no idea, she’s …” the General stopped, a smile appearing on his face as he looked towards the Commander, “She's special, Wolffe.  More than you can know"
"Sir?"
"She has an ability with the force that many can’t understand, in fact, it scares them because of her natural talent.  For example, she learned all the lightsaber forms.  Pfft, not just learned them, but mastered them, as well.  She’s the only Padawan to have ever sparred with Master Yoda, Master Windu, Master Plo, and Master Kenobi.  When we were training at the temple, whenever she had to spar with any of the Masters, it became a spectacle at the temple.  Everyone gathered to watch.”
“How did she do?”
“She held her own with each of the Masters, they all respected her because of her ability. Which in itself is impressive, however, things changed when Master Yoda called her out before they began their session.  After that everyone … I think in some ways people were jealous, in others I think they were frightened of her.  Especially, since the sparring session with Master Yoda was her final test before she became a Jedi Knight.”
“What do you mean sir?”
“He told her, in front of the entire temple for her final session, she couldn’t hold back.  I remember she looked at him, there was no emotion on her face.  After a while, a smile formed on her face, she said ‘how did you know?’, Master Yoda simply said, ‘when almost 900 years you are able to tell someone holding back, hmmm.’  At that moment, the entire temple realized she could have easily bested any of the Masters, but she didn't.
Her and Master Yoda's sparring match lasted over an hour, eventually it was rendered a tie.  Both barely broke a sweat.  When the session had ended, Master Yoda simply smiled at her.  The crowd was quite, it was eerie but she only smiled back at Master Yoda and chuckle ‘You held back’.  ‘Only a little’ was his response.  Seeing her match Master Yoda stroke for stroke was something I will never forget, it was beautiful.  However, after she became a Knight many were frightened of what she could do, simply because she’s a Grey Jedi with a deep connection to the Force.”
“What’s that?”
“A grey Jedi, is a force-wielder who can use both the light and dark side of the force.  Jirli devoted a great amount of time to her studies, trying to understand what it meant for her to be a Grey Jedi.  She's one of the few Jedis I have known, who have developed perfect balance with the force.  Unlike other Jedis, she’s able to form attachments without it affecting her, even her attachment with Master Plo has helped her not hinder her.  When she lost Curl and her squad, I thought it might unbalance her, and we might lose her too, but she proved me wrong.  As she always does.”  The adoration in the General’s eyes was unmistakable.
“You love her”
General Skywalker turned to face me, “Yes, she’s my sister.  I adopted her as my sister when we met at the temple, all those years ago.  Ever since that day she’s been my best friend and closest confidant.  She understands me better than anyone else in my life.”
“It seems she has a gift for acquiring a multitude of brothers.  Anyone that gets to know her is automatically ready to follow and fight by her side” maybe she’s using some kind of Jedi mind trick.
“When you get to know her, Commander, you can’t help but love her.  Jirli fights with her whole being, she’s not afraid to stand up for those she loves.  When it comes to protecting people, she will gladly lay her life down.  It really is a shame you didn’t get to see her take on the battalion.”
“Maybe one of the other clones was able to record it?”
“Record what?” General Kenobi asked, walking up to the General and I.
“Jirli taking on the battalion” answered General Skywalker
“Oh, her ‘Stone Squad’ recorded it, I just heard a few of them talking about it”.
“They did?” I asked way too hopeful, General Kenobi laughed at my enthusiasm, “Yes, Commander.  Talk to Cody, I think he has access to all the footage.  Come on Anakin, we are needed back on our ships.”
“Coming Master.  Commander.” General Skywalker, nodded to me a good bye, I reciprocated the nod and comm-ed Cody as soon as I was alone.
“Wolffe?”
“Hey vod, I heard some of your guys may have recorded the attack between Commander Stonn and the droid army, is that correct?”
"Ha, some, try all of them"
"Really?"
“Wanting to see what your Commander can do?”
“Just curious and she’s not MY Commander.”
“Whatever you say, vod.  But you might want to tell your face to stop looking at her like she hung the stars.”
“I do not!”  Was my face that obvious?
“I just sent you all the recordings.  Don’t worry, I don’t think she can read your looks yet.  In fact, I’m pretty sure she thinks you hate her.”
“Well she’s not entirely wrong there.  I don’t trust her, not yet, but I think these recordings will definitely help.”
“She’s an amazing warrior, vod.  Give her the benefit of the doubt.”
“I’ll try”
“Hey vod?”
“Yeah, Cody”
“Regardless of what you say, you do have a crush on her.  You can lie to yourself, but not to me.  I know you too well.  Can’t blame you really, most of my men have a crush on her too.”
My hand clenched by my side, why was I getting possessive, she’s not mine.
“I … she’s … Listen vod, she can be interested in whoever she wants, she's not mine.”
“Really?”
“Yes”
“So does that mean I can ask her out?”
“WHAT!”
“Ha, ha, just kidding vod.  I know how possessive a wolf can be.”
“Take care of yourself, Cody.”
“You too, Wolffe”

Moving On - Part 7
Summary: A year after the move to Mandalore
A/N: Hello Lovelies,
I know it’s been a hot minute, since our last part for Moving On, but I needed to give Wolffe and Jirli an update, partly because they deserve it, partly because I missed them.  Not sure how many more chapters we’ll get for these two, but we’ll see.
I hope you like how the story continues to develop, the style the story is written has changed some what, simply because there are now more characters with their own POVs.  I hope you love it, and thank you for loving them so much.  Love oo.
Warnings: Bullying mentioned, minor violence, lots of fluff, teasing, kissing, family quality time. If I forget any warnings, please let me know.

ONE YEAR
BOOST POV
It had been a year and a half since I was working alongside my brother on Mandalore, to see Wolffe fall into his role so easily was a privilege, to see Jirli help Duchess Satine work to unite the clans and the tribes was beyond a privilege it was a thing of beauty.  With the threat of war, the threat of Darth Sidious no longer hanging over any of us, there was peace in the galaxy.  It was a unique feeling, something I never experienced before.
WOLFFE POV
“Boost!”
“Yeah”
“You daydreaming?”
“What?”
“You haven’t answered my question”
“Sorry, Wolffe, what was the question?”
“Are we almost done? I want to get home to my family”
“Yes.  Just need you to sign off on one more report and then you are good to go.”
I watched as Boost handed me the final report, the one aspect of my job that I hated, even when I was a Commander for the GAR I despised reports, always got Sinker to sign off on them for me.
“You coming for dinner tonight?”
“If you guys want, sure”
“Good, come.  Otherwise Jirli will have my head for not inviting you again, although she’s also gonna bite your head off.”
“Mine! Why?”
“She says she’s told you numerous times to just come by, you never need an invite, but the only time you come …”
“… is when I’m invited”
I nodded, I was so glad not to be him.  Boost rubbed his forehead back and forth.
“Guess, there’s no escaping her wrath now, is there?”
“From my wife, HA! She’d find you and have it out with you, you should know that”
BOOST POV
Wolffe was right, thinking back to all the times when we were under her command, if someone had an issue she was quick to bring it to the front and deal with it.  Especially after her and Wolffe became an item.
WOLFFE POV
It didn’t take long before Boost and I headed out of the office and to my home.  My home.  The idea of saying that, the idea of having a wife, a family, a normal job, one that didn’t take me away from them, sometimes I still couldn’t believe this happened, this was real.
It took less than 20 minutes to get home, the house the Duchess gave us as a wedding present was big to say the least, it had five bedrooms, not sure why she gave us one with so many bedrooms, Boba and Din each had one, although often they would spend the night together in one or the other’s room.  Jirli and I had one room, and the other two were used as guest bedrooms for when Jirli’s family or my brothers would come and visit.
“Remember to take off your shoes” I mentioned to Boost.
BOOST POV
I nodded, one thing Jirli hated was a dirty floor, she hated outdoor shoes inside the house, I couldn’t blame her after all, with three guys in the house, she was constantly cleaning up after them, although Wolffe helped her a lot, it was adorable to watch the two of them together.
“Ner runi, we’re home”
“We?  Does that mean my favourite brother is here?” Jirli came from around the corner walking towards me.
“Hi Jirli, Wolffe invited me, hope that’s okay”
She threw herself into Wolffe’s arm, welcoming him home with a hug and a kiss, “Welcome home, ner rekr’ika,” she then turned to me, and gave me a bone crushing hug, “Of course Boost, you are welcome here any time.  In fact,” she pulled back and smacked my arm.
“Ow, vod’ika, that hurt”
“Good! You should know better than to wait for some stupid invite from Wolffe to come and see us.  You are always welcome here.”
“I know vod’ika, I know.  I just wanted to make sure you guys got comfortable first.”
“Really?” She hitched an eyebrow.
JIRLI POV
“Who do you think it is?” Din asked
“Can’t tell, Dad’s head is in the way, but probably Boost or maybe … argh! can’t see”
“Boys! Come down and say hi, instead of trying to guess who it is!”
“Told you she would hear us!” Din smacked his older brother
WOLFFE POV
“Come on pups, come say hi to your Uncle!” I shouted to them
Two tiny pounding footsteps came rushing into the foyer.
“UNCLE BOOST!” They both shouted and rushed towards their uncle, Boost kneeled down and grabbed the two boys and held them close.
“Sorry, I haven’t come by often!”
“That’s okay Uncle Boost” Boba stated, “Dad says you are busy keeping the Duchess safe.  She’s so nice.”
“You think so huh?”
Boba nodded, “What about you, Din?  Do you think the Duchess is nice?”
Din started to blush and buried his head in his uncle’s shoulder, Boost looked over to Jirli, “Is he okay?”
Jirli laughed, she mimed ‘He has a crush on her’, Boost chuckled and nodded, “Do you think she’s pretty, pup?” Din nodded into his uncle’s shoulder.  “I think she’s pretty too.”
Din looked at his uncle, “Really?”
“Yup”
Jirli looked from Boost to me, I just shrugged.
JIRLI POV
“First I’m hearing about it” Wolffe muttered.
“Alright pups, go wash up for dinner”
“Yes, mom!” They both shouted as they headed to the nearest refresher pushing each other to be the first one there.
“And this time use soap!” Wolffe shouted towards them.
“Hands and face!” I added
“So” I directed towards Boost, “what’s this about thinking the Duchess is pretty?” I motioned for him to follow Wolffe and I, while my arm wrapped around Wolffe, and his arm rested on my waist.
“Well she is”
“Do you like her?”
“Jirli” Boost pleaded
“What? I’m just asking, after all it’s been two months since I last saw you vod, I see and talk to Sinker at least once every three to four days and he lives on Concord Dawn, you live literally two blocks from here, and I see you once every two months?”
BOOST POV
“I know, I know.  It’s just …” I looked at Wolffe and Jirli sitting on the couch together and my heart ached, I wanted what they had, I wanted the wife and kids, and …
“Boost talk to us, I can sense your sadness, what’s going on?”
“Spending time with you guys, don’t get me wrong, I love it, I do, it’s just … it reminds me of what I don’t have.  I go home to an empty house, I go to work, I guard one of the most beautiful women I have ever met, and she doesn’t even see me.  She only has eyes for Kenobi, and I don’t blame her, but …”
“You wished it was you”
I looked down at my feet nodding, I shouldn’t feel this way.  I know I shouldn’t but no matter how hard I tried to fight the urge, everything Satine did just engrained her into my heart more.
I heard movement, I looked up to see Jirli sit beside me and throw her arms around me.
“I’m sorry, Boost”
I wrapped my arms around her pulling her in, “It’s okay vod’ika, maybe I’m just meant to be alone”
“Or maybe you need to move on from the Duchess”
“I know, I know”
“You know, my secretary thinks you are quite the catch” Wolffe added.
I watched as Jirli turned to look at Wolffe, “Wolffe, please don’t tell me you are talking about the 55-year-old secretary, with the lazy eye and the missing teeth”
“What? She’s very efficient”
I couldn’t help laugh at these two, they were exactly the kind of relationship I wanted, “Thanks for trying, Wolffe.  But I think I’ll pass”
“Just saying there are options”
Jirli turned back to face me, “There are better options out there, but none of them will matter if you aren’t ready to move on, when you are let me know, and I can organize something.”
Wolffe let out a sigh, I looked over to see him rubbing his forehead, “Dearest, why are you always trying to set up my brothers?”
“Because they have you for a brother, and you are of no help to them when it comes to love”
“I got you”
“No my dear, I got you”
“I asked you out”
“You barely acknowledged me from the get go, be glad I was as patient as I was otherwise you would be warming up your bed all alone.”
“I offered an apology”
“Guys, how about we just say you both got each other.”
“Boost stay out of this” Wolffe said
“Hey don’t talk to your vod like that”
“Admit I got you”
“How about I admit it for her?”
Jirli glared at me, “No.  I got him, and he knows it, he just wants to be …”
“MOM!” Boba shouted
“Yes, ner kar’ta?”
“Uncle Anakin is on the comm for you!”
“I’ll be there in a minute”
Jirli stood walked over to Wolffe, leaned down, kissed him on his temple, “Rekr’ika dear, please set the table”
“Yes, runi”
“Thank you”
Jirli walked off leaving me alone with Wolffe, “Admit it, rekr’ika, she got you”
“I know! But don’t tell her I admitted that!”
“Ha-ha okay, no problem”
“Come on, help me set the table”
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
JIRLI POV
“Anakin that’s awesome, when would you be coming?”
“Probably in a week or two, Padme has to finalize a bill on the senate floor, if it passes then in a week, if it doesn’t probably in two weeks.  Luke and Leia are really wanting to see their aunt.”
“Anakin, they’re one year olds, they don’t know anything that’s going on”
“Did I mention they’re force sensitive?”
“Are you sure?  You thought your tooka was force sensitive too”
“Hey I still hold that train of thought, otherwise how does she know when the kids need us, right before they start crying she walks over to their cribs”
I shook my head at my brother, “Okay, okay”
“Oh and Plo said he’d be joining too”
“Good thing I have two spare rooms, unless you guys wanna stay with Boost.”
“How is he doing, I was talking to him a few weeks ago, and he seemed sad”
“Yeah, he’s just going through some stuff right now”
“Anything I can do to help?”
“Not unless you can convince Duchess Satine to leave Obi-wan and move on to Boost”
“I don’t think even Obi-wan could convince her to do that”
“Then nope”
“Wow so he has a thing for Satine?”
“I didn’t say that, when did I say that?”
“Come on Jir”
“Nope”
“I’m gonna tell Boost”
“Then have a fun time trying to find a place to stay”
“Jirli!”
“Anakin!”
“Fine, I wont’ say anything.  Actually, I may have a suggestion for Boost, if he’s interested”
“Oh lord!”
“No, no it’s a good one”
“If this has to do with some sort of droid nonsense”
“What! No! Well … okay maybe not entirely …”
“Nope.  Stop.  Don’t want to hear it.”
“Just saying …”
“Anakin.”
“Fine.”
“Alright Ani, I have to go finish getting dinner on the table before I have a riot on my hands, let me know when and I’ll arrange with Boost”
“Sounds good, sis, see you in two weeks or possibly one, but let’s face it’s Padme so probably two”
“Ha, okay, Ani, love you”
“Love you, give my love to everyone”
“Will do”
I walked towards the dinning room, when I heard the two love of my lives giggling in the refresher, I walked over to them, they were spraying each other with the water.
“What are you two doing?”
They both stopped and turned to look at me, they looked beyond guilty.
“Ummm…” Din looked from his wet shirt to his brother’s face, “we were …”
“We were …” Boba looked down at his wet shirt back to my face, “getting clean, like you said”
“I’m pretty sure I said to wash your hands and face, not to drown each other” I laughed shaking my head, “Okay, are you both clean?”
“Yes?” Boba answered
“Yes?” I repeated
“I mean we washed our hands and face”
“With soap”
“Yes?”
I quirked my eyebrow at Boba.
“Yes” he reiterated, I looked to Din, “Din?”
“Yes, we used soap”
“Okay, go change your shirts then come down for dinner”
“Yes mom!” They both chimed, and headed out of the refresher, maker how I loved those two.
I walked into the dinning room to see Wolffe and Boost finishing laying down the dishes, “Do you know what your children were doing?”
“Something bad I assume, since now they’re my children”
“Splashing each other in the refresher.  Their shirts and hair were completely drenched.  Boost if you need to use the refresher, please use the one upstairs, I didn’t get a chance to clean up the mess they made.”
“Thanks vod’ika, but I lived on a ship with 40 other brothers, I think I can handle a little wet floor”
“Ha-ha, you’re funny, vod, I don’t think you’d be prepared for what I saw”
“Come on, it can’t be that bad” I watched as Boost headed out.
Wolffe came and wrapped his arms around my waist, he leaned down kissing my neck, “Ner runi, I’ve missed you all day”
“I’ve missed you too, ner rekr’ika” I wrapped my arms around his shoulder, “If you don’t stop, I’m not responsible for what happens” I warned him.
“Maybe I don’t want to stop”
“Your brother’s here and our kids are going to walk in soon”
Wolffe pulled back “Fine” I leaned up and kissed him “How was your day?” He mumbled against my lips.
“Well we were in negotiations with the Children of the Watch”
“How was that?”
“It was…” I leaned back and rubbed my forehead, “frustrating”
“I’m sorry, ner runi”
“It’s okay, hopefully we can come to some sort of agreement.  I mean I get why they are upset and why they are frustrated, but it’s almost like they do not want to budge on any front.  I’m meeting with the leader again in three days time, hoping that maybe if I can talk to her one-on-one, then we could find some sort of common ground.”
“If anyone can, you can my love”
“Thank you, ner rekr”
Wolffe leaned down and kissed me once again.
“Okay” We both turned to look at Boost coming in through the doorway, “You’re right, I wasn’t expecting that.  What did they decide to take a shower, and then wash the entire refresher?”
“Welcome to the world of kids” Wolffe chuckled.
“You know I want kids, but after what I just saw” Boost shook.
“Yeah, but most of the time, they’re really the best.  Speaking of which” I turned to look at Wolffe, “you and I need to talk about Boba”
“Why what happened?”
“Nothing too terrible, just something we need to figure out how to handle.”
“Okay, you sure?”
“Trust me, you’ll be very proud” I smirked.
“We’re here!” Boba and Din walked in with their new shirts arms raised up presenting their shirts that Uncle Sinker sent.  It had his picture on it with ‘Best Uncle, suck it Boost!’ underneath.
I couldn’t help but laugh, Wolffe hid his face behind my head, I could feel him trying to hold in the laughter, Boost’s mouth gaped open.
“You guys couldn’t find anything else to wear?” I asked
“We thought it would be nice to wear our gifts, plus Uncle Sinker made us promise we wear it the next time Uncle Boost came to dinner”
“Okay, okay.  Everyone let’s just sit down and eat.” Wolffe said, once he was finally composed.
“Remind me to comm Sinker later” Boost muttered to Wolffe.
Wolffe just chuckled, “As long as I get to be there”

WOLFFE POV
With dinner finished, I leaned back in my chairs and watched my family all around the dinning table, watching my cyar’ika looking after Din and Boba, watching Boost laughing, relaxing, he deserved his own family, to have a wife and kids.
“Rekr?”
“Hmmm”
“You okay?”
I looked at my wife, my beautiful wife, and smiled, “Yeah, runi, I’m okay.  Just … admiring our family.”
“Awww, you are such a sap!  What happened to the big bad Wolffe?  The one who was sooo grumpy?”
“He grew up and had kids” I laughed
“Dad isn’t grumpy” Din said
“Yeah, he’s always laughing with us” Boba added
“Thank you, pups” I smirked at the two of them
“You should see him at work, he scares everyone.  He once sent one of Satine’s aides home crying.  Once he scared Duchess Satine, she almost started crying.”
“That was an accident”
“Okay, we need to hear this, because Satine never told me you scared her”
“It was an accident”
“No it wasn’t” Boost couldn’t stop laughing
“Alright you gotta tell us, Boost”
“Yeah, you gotta tell us” Din chimed in, I watched as he slowly moved to sit on Jirli’s lap, she pulled him into her lap as he rested his head on her shoulder.
“Okay, so the Duchess had been changing her mind on security for the better part of two days, this was before her meeting with Clan Wren.  Wolffe was at his wits end, that day because every time he had a plan ready, she either changed locations or the amount of people that were going to be attending the meeting.  Anyway, the Duchess came in at the end of the day …” I watched my vod as he tried to stifle the laughter the threatened to burst out.
“I’ll continue for you vod, seeing as how you are about to lose your dinner”
“No…” Boost tried to stifle the laughter, “I got this … ahem! … I do …”
“It’s okay Boost, rekr, go ahead”
“Okay, so I’m sitting at my desk, trying to finally finalize the stupid umpteenth revision  of this meeting, when the door slides open, I didn’t look up to see who it was…”
“Oh, Wolffe, no” my wife drops her forehead into her hand, while holding Din.  She’s been there to see when I yell at the wrong person when we were on the ship.  A couple of times, I ended up yelling at her by accident.
“Yeah … so without looking up, I just said ‘if you’re coming to tell me that holier than thou, pain in ner sheb (My ass) sent you to inform me of another change to her …’ ” I looked towards my kids “I may have used some more colourful wording to describe her change in plan, anyway after my tirade, I looked up and saw her standing there at the door of my office, she was shaking like a leaf, her bottom lip was quivering, her eyes were glistening, she was ready to cry.  I stood up, and offered my most humble of apologies, told her I was frustrated from all the changes but it was no excuse to say any of the things I did.”
“What did she do?” Boba asked
“She actually apologized to me.  She said that she was coming to apologize for all her indecisiveness, but the delegates from Clan Wren kept changing their minds about certain things and she had tried her best to get them to agree to my suggestions, but they wouldn’t have it, and in the end they settled before a meeting was even needed, and therefore all my planning was for nothing.”
“What happened?”
“I was so upset, I clenched my fist, and looked to the datapad on my desk, the one that had contained all the different changes for the meeting with Clan Wren, I looked up to the Duchess holding the datapad in my hand.  My tone was calm but …”
“Your tone was anything but calm, vod.  I could hear you from my office”
“What did you say?” Jirli asked
“I may have said something along the lines, ‘you’re telling me, that after spending nearly 10 hours on organizing this meeting, after missing dinner with my family, after scouring maps, information packets about each location that came up, background research from my team on all the people that would be there, double checking caterers, weapons, personnel, after all of that, Clan Wren just agreed.  They kriffing agreed just like that?’”
“Wolffe! Language!”
“Right, sorry, love.  Boys, don’t use that word”
Boost was dying laughing in his chair.
“What happened, what did she say?” Boba asked
“Her hand was shaking beside her, she apologized and said if she had known they were going to be this difficult, so all over the place, she would have let you handle it.  She apologized profusely, saying she hoped that she would never put me in that position again.”
“You should have seen her vod’ika, she looked like she had seen a ghost, I went to talk to her afterwards, when I saw her walking out of Wolffe’s office, I asked her if she was okay, seeing as I heard everything.  She was so scared, she’s like ‘I’ve never seen Wolffe so angry before,’ I had to start laughing, I told her, ‘that wasn’t Wolffe angry,’ she looked like she was about to keel over, I told her that’s him mildly irritated.  I had never seen so freaked out, honestly Jirli, I think the Duchess was close to a heart attack”
“Oh no” I looked at my riduur, she wanted to be sympathetic but I could see she was trying to fight back the laughter.
“What happened after?  Did she reprimand you for any of it?” Jirli asked
“Well, remember how we got two weeks off to go to Naboo’s lake country?”
“Yeah…” Jirli answered, while Boba and Din nodded
“That was her gift to us for all the inconveniences, she came to my office the next day, telling me she had paid for everything as a small token of appreciation for all my hard work.”
I watched as my wife started laughing, while holding Din who looked like he was about ready to fall asleep, “I’m sorry, but …” she stopped to wipe her tears, Boost was laughing so hard he nearly fell out of his chair.
“You’re telling me… hold on” she started laughing again, “okay, so not only did you call her, and I know you ner riduur, probably every swear word you know in the book, and told her that her indecisiveness was making your life a living hell, and then proceed to tell how much of an inconvenience it was for you, that instead of getting fired or reprimanded, she not only didn’t yell at you, she apologized to you and then gave you a paid vacation?”
I shrugged, while smirking at my riduur.
“Maker, ni kar’taylir darasuum gar” (I love you)
“Ni kar’taylir darasuum gar”
“See” Boost bumps Boba, “he’s such a sap.  Make sure you grow up to be like him, mixed in with your father”
Boba nods, “I plan to” I look over to my oldest and smirked.
JIRLI POV
I looked down to my youngest in my arms, who had passed out, “Riduur, I’m gonna put Din to bed, while I do that, Boba” I looked over to my oldest, “don’t you have something to tell your dad, and Boost…” I looked to my vod.
“Yes, vod’ika”
“Please listen and not say anything till I come back”
“Would I say anything?” He smirked at me.
“Mmhmm”
BOBA POV
I watched as mom took Din with her upstairs to his room.
“So Boba, what do you have to tell me?”
“Ummm… okay … well … see” I rubbed the back of my neck, “remember, how I told you last week there was this kid in Din’s class that was picking on him?”
“Mmhmm”
“Well … I went to pick him up from his class today after I finished … ummm …”
“Boba, what happened?”
“Paz was beating up Din, you always said we’re a Wolfpack, we look after one another”
“I did”
“So I stepped in, and punched him in the nose, I may have broken it … and I gave him a few kicks in the stomach…”
I heard a snort to my right, I looked over at Uncle Boost, who’s hand was covering his mouth.
“Is that it?” I looked at dad, his face was normal, he didn’t have any emotion on it, mom said that he wouldn’t get mad, that he’d be proud of me, but I don’t know … I trusted my Cabur (protector), but…
“No”
“So what is the rest, Boba?”
“I … I may have threatened him, Cabur, I may have told Paz that if he came near Din again, I would make sure I broke more than his nose.”
WOLFFE POV
“I see” I looked from Boba to Boost, Boost was dying, I could see how he was trying to keep his laughter in check, Boba kept his eyes focused on the dish before him.
“Boba” Boba didn’t look at me
“Boba, pup, look at me” I kept my voice gentle, finally Boba lifted his eyes to look at me, “What did your mom say when she found out?”
“She said that she was proud of me for defending my brother, but she wished I went a more nonviolent path”
I couldn’t help smirk at my beloved, “Yeah that’s your mom”
“Are you mad at me?”
I got up from my seat and walked over to Boba’s, I knelt beside his chair, I looked into Boba’s face.
“Ner ad, Biai liser ni suba gra’ave at gar ara’novor cuun aliit?” (My child, how can I be mad at you defending our family?)
I reached up, cradling his head, and pulled towards mine in a keldabe kiss.
“Ni suba bid giare de gar jivaor suly gar vod.” (I’m so proud of you looking after your brother)
“Vor entyre, buir” (Thank you, dad)
I couldn’t hide the smile, every time he called me dad, it made my heart flutter, I pulled away smiling, Boba was grinning too.
“However, your mom is right, there was probably a better more non-violent solution, however, what’s done is done, and I couldn’t be prouder.  Now, why do I feel there is still more to this story?”
“I may be suspended from school for two weeks”
“Can I speak now?” Boost asked
“Did I not say to wait till I got back before you said anything?” Jirli stated just as she walked back into the room.
“Okay, well can I speak now?” Boost said having his hand up.
“Fine go ahead” Jirli said as she retook her seat.
“Can I just say Boba, I have never been prouder of you and being a part of this family?” I watched as Boost laid his hand on Boba’s shoulder, “Can I ask how many times have you talked to this kid, to leave Din alone?”
“Umm…” Boba tapped his chin, a habit I noticed he picked up from Jirli, “probably at least ten times, but this is the first time he actually laid a hand on Din.”
“You never told me that?” Jirli said reaching over to Boba
“I wanted to make you proud, you always said there was a peaceful solution, and I failed you” Boba looked from Jirli to his hands.
“No, ner ad (My child), you didn’t fail me or yourself, I am so proud of you, ner kar’ta (My heart)” Boba looked up to Jirli, I moved from Boba’s side, standing behind him, resting my hands on his shoulders.  Jirli moved to kneel beside him, she took him in her arms and hugged him so tightly.
“And when talking fails, ass kicking begins” Boost added, I had to laugh at my vod, Jirli glared at him, “What? It’s true” Boost tried to defend himself against the look.
“Okay Boba…” Jirli began, before Boba moved away, I loved her so much, she was an amazing mother, friend, sister, and wife, I couldn’t have asked for a better partner “…since you will be home for two weeks, which would you prefer to come to work with me or with your dad?  Or we can split it up?”
“Split it up” he said smiling
“Okay, ner ad” I began resting my hand on his shoulder again, he turned to look up at me, “we can figure this out tomorrow, for now, go upstairs, brush your teeth, and get ready for bed.”
Boba nodded, hugging his mom one more time, he hugged her so tight, it almost made me cry, almost.  Boba gave me a hug after he let go of her, “Vor entyre, buir.  Ni kar’taylir darasuum gar” (Thank you, dad.  I love you.)
“Ni kar’taylir darasuum gar, mr” (I love you, too (much))
“Will you come upstairs and read me a story before bed?”
“Of course, ner bec (my pup).  Of course.  Let me know when you are ready.”  I looked down to my pup, I didn’t think it possible for my heart to be more full then at the current moment.

JIRLI POV
I watched as Wolffe climbed the stairs to go read Boba his bedtime story, while Boost and I sat in the common room, “So… tell me the truth”
“About?”
“Satine … come on vod, I know you too well, what’s really going on?”
Boost looked from Wolffe to me, and looked down at his hands, “Did you ever wonder why I was never around when you and Wolffe were on the ship?”
“Because you found us sickly sweet?” I smirked
“Well yes, but …” Boost looked to me, “I … I wanted to be …”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
Boost was in love with me… no … wait … “I’m calling bantha fodder”
“What?” Boost looked shocked
“Yup, totally calling bantha fodder”
“Haar’chak (Damn it), of course only you would figure it out.  Okay …” Boost rubbed his face, “truth is, I do want a wife and kids, but I just … Satine is everything a woman should be …”
“Excuse you?”
“I mean obviously so are you, but you know what I mean she’s beautiful”
“Oh you better say more than just that”
“Ha, okay this is coming out all wrong.  I look at you and Satine and you are both what any woman should be, sweet, caring, devoted to your family, and great parents or aunts.  I want to meet someone who is already ready to go, someone who is ready to have a family.”
“Let me get this straight you want a three year relationship in one day?”
“Yes, is that too much to ask!”
“Yes!”
“Oh.”
I chuckled at my vod, “Boost, I get it, I really do, there was a time I thought I’d never have any of this.  But you have to ask yourself what you really want, what kind of woman do you want?  What do you need?  Honestly, when I first met Wolffe, I was… I wasn’t in the headspace for another relationship, as you know, but the one thing that I admired about him, he knew who he was and what he wanted, regardless of how he treated me.  I respected that, may not have loved how he treated me, but regardless I did respect him, and that respect turned into something more, a lot more.  Therefore, let me ask you, do you know what you want, or who you are?”
“I know who I am, that much I do know, but I’m not sure what I want, Satine is … if I had to choose a woman I could see spending the rest of my life with, then that’s her.”
“Okay, well … what if she’s not Satine?”
“I guess I’d have to meet her, but out of all the women I’ve met, and you know I’ve met a few…”
“Easy there tiger”
Boost chuckled, “I just never met one that actually made me feel something similar”
I nodded at my vod, “Okay, how about this, you and I sit down, and see if we can figure out exactly what you want, I’m not talking looks, or the physical, although that is somewhat important, but the personality, the qualities of a person, their traits, tell me what you think you need, and I can keep my eyes open for you, does that work?”
“You’re the best vod’ika, you know that?”
“Sure say that now”
Boost chuckled “Well I have to keep you on your toes”
“Mmhmm”
“What time is it?”
I looked to the chrono that was on the wall, “Almost 23:00”
“Oh, I gotta go, tell Wolffe thank you for tonight”
I nodded as I stood, walking him to the door, he put his boots on with practiced motions, “You better not wait two months before you show your ugly mug around here”
“Now look who’s trying to be mean” Boost smirked, I stepped in hugging him, “I’m serious, vod, I missed you.  I want to see you around here more often.”
“I promise vod’ika, I’ll make it a conscious effort, please give the boys a hug and kiss from me.”
“Will do” I watched him hop on his speeder and head off to his abode.
“Did Boost leave?”
I looked over to Wolffe who came down the stairs and nodded to him, I locked up the door, headed to the kitchen and made sure to put away all the left over food, while Wolffe cleaned and put away the dishes.
Wolffe was finishing washing the dishes when I came up beside him, laying my chin on his upper arm, while my arms wrapped around his shoulder.
“I love you, you’re an amazing father, husband and brother, you know that, and just when I think I couldn’t possibly love you any more, you prove me wrong everyday.”
Wolffe turned to look at me, a smile graced his lips, “I love you too, ner runi, I hope you know I feel the same way, watching you with our kids, with our family, I fall in love with you all over again” he leaned down to kiss me, I placed my hands on his cheeks deepening the kiss, he moved his hands to my waist, the water seeping into my clothes.
“You’re getting my clothes wet” I said against his lips, as he deepened the kiss.
“Your fault” he mumbled
“Mmm” I pulled back, “finish the dishes and you can meet me upstairs” I quirked my eyebrow.
Wolffe looked over and there were still five pots to clean, “What if I finish them tomorrow morning?”
“Think of meeting me upstairs as your reward” I giggled, while I placed a gentle kiss on his lips, before I pulled away.
“Now that’s not fair”
“Ner rekr’ika, when is life ever fair?” I smirked as I walked out of the room.

As always drop some love, a comment, and/or a reblog, its all welcomed.
Tumblr media
ONCE AROUND THE BLOCK
“What do they have?” Asked the commanding droid
“A cylinder of some kind” responded the droid talking into the comm at the front of the line
“Cylinder?” Questioned the tactical droid
“Not just any cylinder” She responded, before lighting her saber.
“JEDI!!”
The explosion, dust billowed everywhere, the only thing that could be seen was her saber cutting through the droid lines like they were butter.  Another angle came from higher up, showing her progression, she was quick, effective.
“Commander, does she even need us?” Someone commented off screen.
“Remind me not to get on her bad side.”
“I was able to shoot one droid”
“I think I’m in love”
“I know I’m in love”
“Think I can get her to come to ‘79s”
“Commander, do you know if she’s single?
My hand clenched as the comments started turning from her abilities to what they felt, why were people declaring their love for my Commander … I mean Commander Stonn bothering me?  When Cody had asked if he could ask her out, I was ready to reach through the comm and strangle him.  I don’t know what came over me, especially since I knew he was only joking.
“Cut the chatter, men” Cody’s stern voice was unmistakable.
“Yes, sir!” Came the resounding acknowledgement.
The smoke settled, there was nothing left but heaps of droid trash.
“Commander, do you think she would say yes, if I proposed?”
“Shut it, Waxer.”
“Yes, sir”
Wow, she really was something.  There wasn’t even an ounce of fear on her face.  The recording didn’t do her any kind of justice, I can only imagine what it was like to see it live.  She protected those men, she didn’t even let Cody stand beside her, she faced the entire battalion on her own.
I started thinking back to my treatment of her since she arrived on the Triumphant.  I never actually welcomed her on board.   Never actually gave any sort of opinion with respect to her battle plan.  I didn’t even congratulate on the execution of her plan.  I just stood there staring at her.
Cody said she thought I hated her, did that mean she spoke to Cody about me?  Did she actually speak about me in general?  When I saw her with the pendant I was irritated at the lack of military discipline.  Even General Plo doesn’t have any personal effects on him when heading to battle.  Then Sinker told me it was a gift from Curl, her last gift from Curl, I was glad at that moment I hadn’t actually stated regulations or made a comment towards her personal effect.  I didn’t even wish her luck before she left for her ship to head down to the planet.   Had I really been so horrible?
She certainly proved herself time and time again, despite my attitude, despite the snide comments I made under my breath, at times it looked like she had heard, but she never said anything.  She never repaid in kind.  She always made sure to treat me with respect.  Even smiling whenever I had to talk with her.  She respected my privacy, never forcing me to like her.  Seeing her on that battlefield, just reinforced that she was a much better person than I could ever hope to be.
I knew Curl was a good man, trustworthy, and valued a good fight, no wonder he fell hard for this tiny Jedi, she was everything a good man like Curl would value in a partner.   My heart began beating a little faster, this Commander was nothing like the one I had created in my head.  She wasn’t cold, she didn’t lead her men into an ambush, I can’t believe I had ever thought that.  She was calculating, looking at all the angles.  After all, her strategy paid off, this was one of the few times where we had engaged the enemy and had no casualties, not even an injury.
I need to talk to her, I need to … I need to do better.  I need to be … *sigh* I need to be the man she deserves as a Co-commander.   The man she deserves.
- - - - - - -
The mess hall was fairly empty.  I sat there with Strut, the shiny who had just joined the Triumphant.  The planetary aide had been his first mission.
We got to know each other a little while we were talking before we headed down to the planet, he had been assigned to my team, he was eager and proven himself, the other troopers that were with us, had readily commented on his willingness to follow direction and to be of use.  When we landed back on the Triumphant, I asked him to meet me in the mess hall when he was next free, with his armour, paint, and a big enough cloth to cover the table.  He didn’t even question it, he showed up with his armour in a bag, it was adorable to see how nervous he was, unsure as to what was going to happen.
We took our time and laid out the cloth on the table, followed by every piece of his armour before the both of us.  Many in the mess hall had stopped and looked at what we were doing.
“Strut, in my old squad we had a tradition, the Commander and I would clean all our teams’ armour and repaint any damage done, after every mission, it was a way to care for my brothers, taking some of the stress and weight off their shoulders.  Since this is your first battle, I would like to help paint your armour, if that’s okay?  As a way to commemorate your achievement.”
Strut didn’t know what to say, some of the other troopers heard my statement, some looked shocked, others had an expression on their face I couldn’t quite read, a small few looked annoyed.
“Commander, I would be honoured.  Thank you.”
His smile radiated from ear to ear, and I couldn’t help but reciprocate, he was just a newbie, but he's proven himself, he listened to commands, and even made sure his brothers were okay at the end, that needed to be celebrated, especially when so many often don’t come back.  Silently we both picked up our brushes, and began painting his armour, I was almost done with his left shin guard, when heavy footsteps came up beside us.
“What are you doing?” Came the gruff voice
“Painting, Commander” I answered without looking up, as soon as I sensed the Commander enter the mess hall, I felt a tingling sensation down my spine.  Hmm, wonder what that could mean.  Simple, that I don’t like him.  Stop lying to yourself, you and I both know you think he’s quite the Commander.  Yes, he’s an excellent Commander, doesn’t mean I like him as a person.  Your dream says otherwise.  That was … that was my subconscious.  Sure it was.  Sure.  Although I respect Commander Wolffe, he is getting on my nerves, you know just go away.  For now, I will.
Ever since we got back to the Triumphant, his scowl had deepened every time he looked at me.  Even through the Force I could feel he became more hesitant around me, my patience with the man was running thin and I had no desire to actually speak or spend time with him unless absolutely necessary.
“Commander Stonn, can I speak with you?”  That’s a first, usually he just starts talking without addressing me.
“What is it Commander Wolffe, as you can see I am in the middle of something”
“Please?” As soon as he said it, it hit me like a punch in the stomach.  He said please.  Since being around the 104th I had never heard him say please to anyone.  I looked into those intense eyes, and noticed they had softened, not by much, but minuscule, they appeared less threatening, if that was possible. Even through the force, I sensed the hesitation had diminished too, and replaced it with something else, uneasiness.  I just nodded and stood up.
“I’ll be back Strut, try not to finish without me” I winked at him, a small blush creeped up to his face.  It was adorable.
I followed Commander Wolffe to the officer’s mess. It was supposed to be used by those of higher rank, although no one really used it.  That’s one thing I noticed, the 104th liked to sit together as a family, or as their name indicated, like a wolfpack, regardless of rank.
“Commander Wolffe, is everything alright?” I inquired. I didn’t want to upset him anymore than my presence usually appeared to, I kept my tone soft, I didn’t want to challenge him, so I did my best to keep my gaze soft as well.
How is it every time she says my name, I want to let out a low growl.  I’ve noticed I’ve had to catch myself several times before it was audible.  What is wrong with me?
“Commander Stonn”, he took a moment to take a deep breath, and his gaze fixated on my eyes.  My stomach started doing those flips again.  Admit it, you like it when he looks at you like that. Not the time.  You think he’s gorgeous.  Really not the time.  You’re in a room alone with him, take a chance. So not helping.  He cleared his throat, and rubbed his neck, “I … I wanted to say thank you for looking after the men on the field.”
Oh, okay I was not expecting that.
She looks shocked.  Was I really that much of a jerk to her?  Of course, I was.  Stop acting surprised you’re a jerk.
I think the Commander noticed my expression, his eyes softened even more, but there was something behind that tenderness, it was… guilt, he looks guilty. No. Yes. I focused on his eyes again, oh you’re right, that’s guilt.  Told you.
“I know I haven’t been the most welcoming to you since you arrived” his hand flinched by his side, he moved it forward and brought it back to his side, clenching and unclenching his fist.
“I wanted to apologize for treating you less than what you deserved” okay, this really wasn't something I was expecting.
“Commander Wolffe, I …”, think woman, use those words. No don’t give in, this is an opportunity to make him sweat.  I’m not going to do that.  Weak.  You’re weak.  I’m not weak.
“Commander Stonn?”
“Sorry, Commander.  Thank you for the apology.  I know many of the men probably still don’t trust me, because of what happened on Kowak, and frankly I don’t blame you for being cautious with me, as well.  I probably would have been too, had the shoe been on the other foot”
How is she this kind?  She should be yelling at me.  She should want to hit me.  I never even gave her a kind word.
“Also, you don’t have to thank me for doing my duty.  These men, every clone, will be like family to me.  Whether they like me or not.  It’s my duty regardless of how they view me, to make sure each and every one of them make it home, to see a future after the GAR.”
No wonder Curl fell for her.  She’s … she’s amazing.
“All the more reason I should thank you.  Not many view us as people with a future.  They view us as…”
“Cannon fodder”
The Commander simply nodded to my statement.
“Since we’re actually talking, Commander, can I ask you a question?”  I was pushing it, but I wanted an answer.  It’s not the answer you want, it’s the reaction.  Make him fall on his knees, make him beg for forgiveness.  Okay, you are being very rowdy today, no one is going to be doing that.
“You can ask me anything”.
Heck she could ask me to leave the GAR and I would.  WHAT?? Where did that come from?
“Why did you blame me for the death of my own men?”
“I … how … who… I never said that”
“Wolffe...”
Oh Mesh’la, you’re playing with fire.  Please don’t just say my first name.
“...there’s something you should know about my species, we have exceptional hearing.  For example, I can tell you right now, your men outside this room are all talking and betting on which of two outcomes will occur, either you pulled me in here to declare your undying love to me or to get it on with me.”
“WHAT!”
“Yeah, I’m surprised General Plo didn’t tell you.”
“No.  I mean, yes General Plo didn’t tell me, so I apologize for the comment I made.  But what are my men saying?”
“I don’t think I should tell you”
I stepped closer to her, no one will get to talk about her that way, not MY Commander.  “I think you should tell me everything, mesh’la.”
Oh, that was new.  You really liked how he said that.  Really not helping.  You gonna tell him, you understand Mando’a?  Not right now.
“I’ll tell you, if you can tell me why you thought I killed my men”
“Curl contacted me before your mission, he said you had a bad feeling about it, but before he could tell me more I was called away to a meeting with General Plo.  I thought you ignored your gut and went ahead with the mission.  However, Sinker told me what you tried to do.  I’m sorry for misjudging you.”
“Like I said Wolffe, I don’t blame you.  I’ve …” I couldn’t look at him, “I blame myself.  They were my family, I should have fought harder.”  That’s true, it is kind of your fault.  Not this again.  Just an observation, you keep just saying his first name.  What about Curl?  Oh you really need to shut up.
“You fought as hard as you could mesh’la, it's not your fault people didn’t listen.”
“They should have” my voice was barely above a whisper.
How could I ever think she was responsible for the deaths of her own men?  I reached for her upper arm, she felt warm under my hand, even through her tunic.
I didn’t want to move, his hand was comforting.  Told you, you liked him.  Don’t need your two credit comments.
“People don’t care if we live or die.  It’s not your fault.”
“I care.”
“Curl was a lucky man”
She looked up to my eyes, no one has ever looked at me without flinching at the prosthetic, even from that first day on the bridge, she never looked at me with disgust or with fear.
“You know about Curl?”
“I think everyone knows about you and Curl.” Wolffe chuckled, he had a pleasant deep laugh.  You know you want to hear it again, I say go for it.  Since when are you trying to help.  I’m bored.
“Plus, he was my batchmate, he told me he had fallen for a Jedi, just never told me who.  I found out after he …”
“He told me just before we went on the mission, he wanted me to meet his brother, his batchmate, he just never told me who.  He wanted us to meet after we got back from the mission but he …”
Wolffe simply nodded in understanding, “I’m sorry for your loss, Jirli”
“I’m sorry for your loss, Wolffe”
We stood there for a few minutes staring at each other, in that moment I vowed I would always be there for her, in any way she needed me.  Even if nothing happened between us, I would lay my life for her.  She’s MY Commander.  My mesh’la.
As we stood there looking at each other, I couldn’t help but feel my heart flutter.  At that moment, I vowed, I would always be there for him.  In any way he needed me.  Even if nothing happened between us, I would lay down my life for him.  He was MY Commander.
“So you gonna tell me what my men are saying behind the door?”
I laughed, “Okay, but you might not like it.  I’m not sure which one it is, but… hold on …” I raised a finger to my mouth, asking him to be silent, when I heard the voices from behind the door.
“I'm telling you, he’s going to declare his undying love to her”
“You’re crazy, the Commander isn’t interested in her”
“How do you know?”
“You can tell, he’s always mean to her.”
“Why are you paying attention to how he treats her?”
“I think Whiskey has a crush on Commander Stonn”
“Did you see what she did to those clankers?  Of course, I have a crush on her!”
“Guys, leave them alone”
“Shut it, shiny!”
“Just because you’re her pet...”
“I’m no one’s pet, you’re just jealous she’s painting my armour.”
“I’m not jealous”
“Dude, you are so jealous!”
“Shut it, Brandy”
“Listen all I’m saying is I have dibs”
“Yeah, we get it Whiskey”
“Who has dibs?” Oh I know that voice, that’s Sinker.
“Whiskey says he has dibs on the Jedi”
“General Plo? Interesting Whiskey, but hey whatever floats your boat”
“No! Commander Stonn”
“Let me make this very clear, men.  If anyone makes the Commander uncomfortable, anyone makes unwanted advances, you will have to deal with me.  She fights for us unlike anyone has ever before.  She looks after us like we’re family.  Therefore, I expect each and everyone of you to treat her as a vod’ika.”  Sinker’s voice was unwavering and protective.  Awww he really loves me like a sister, that’s so sweet.
“So you’re saying, you aren’t attracted to her?”
“I’m saying, she is my vod’ika and I will make sure everyone treats her as such.  Understood?”
“YES, SIR!”
Wolffe and I just looked at each other when we heard the room next door roar in understanding.  I couldn’t help but laugh at what just transpired.  I reiterated to the Commander all I heard, I thought it was funny, but apparently the humour was lost on him.  Instead his face became gruffer if that was even possible, his fist clenched by his side.
How dare they?  Dibs?  Really, Whiskey?  No one talks about MY Jirli like that.  Alright calm down di’kut, she’s not yours.
“Follow me, mesh’la” was all he said, he pressed the button for the door to slide open.
When we entered the mess hall I noticed it had filled up while we were in the officer’s mess.  All the men in the mess hall turned to look at us as the door opened, the Commander walked through first, his expression was intense.  He took turns to look each and everyone of the troopers in the eye, his hands were clenched by his side.
“Do you men realize that Commander Stonn’s species has exceptional hearing?”
The room went silent, the looks on their faces was priceless, I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing out loud.
“I’m sorry, she has what?” Whiskey asked, the redness on his face deepening.
“Her species can hear even the smallest whisper.  She just told me everything you all said word for word.  Let’s clear up a few things.  First, I’m not declaring my undying love at this moment. Two, I did not pull Commander Stonn into the officer’s mess to ‘get with her’.  Three, NO ONE calls dibs, is that understood, Whiskey?”
“Yes, sir.  Sorry Commander Stonn”, Whiskey could barely look me in the eye.
“I will reiterate what Sergeant Sinker said, anyone making the Commander feel uncomfortable, anyone making an inappropriate comment or advancement, will not only have to deal with the Sergeant, you will also deal with ME!  Commander Stonn has proven herself above and beyond.  Do you men realize this is the first time we never lost a brother?  Everyone made it back and without injury.  Commander Stonn is a Wolfpack.  I expect you all to treat her with the dignity that comes with.  DO. I. MAKE. MYSELF. CLEAR?”
All stood straight like a ramrod, saluted the Commander and agreed in one voice “YES, SIR!”
“I expect you all to apologize to Commander Stonn.  Understood?”
“Commander, that's not necessary” I interjected, “they were clearly just having fun.”
“Not that way” he grumbled.
I simply nodded, at the end of the day, my assignment with the Wolfpack was temporary, he did have to set a precedent for any other female personnel that came to the Triumphant.
“Would it be alright if I addressed the men?” I asked quietly, Wolffe didn’t even look at me, he kept his eyes on the men and gave a curt nod.
“Listen, I know you guys are all trying to figure out how I fit in.  I’ll say this, some of you already know how I feel about clones, for those that don’t know you are family to me.  Every clone, whether here on the Triumphant, back on Coruscant, or on Kamino, are my family.  I don't expect you all to like me, or be my best friend, that’s not possible in any family.  However, I will fight for each and everyone of you like my own, whether on the battlefield, in any political situation, or defending you from ignorant civilians.  I will be here for each and everyone of you, till my dying breath.  If you have any questions just come ask me.  I’m an open book. Okay?”
Everyone just nodded, most of the men too frightened by what Commander Wolffe could possibly do.
“Oh, and one final thing, if anyone wants me to help paint or clean their armour, just come and ask me.  It was a tradition with my old squad, and I would be more than happy to continue the tradition here on the Triumphant, as long as I’m here with the Wolfpack.”
I smiled to each and everyone of the men, they just needed some love, to know they had someone in their corner.  Wolffe turned to look at me, the intense gaze he held on his men softened completely when he looked in my eyes.  I couldn’t help but smile at him.  Don’t tell me you don’t like YOUR Commander.  I … Did you think I missed that little confession back there?  Uh… He is very pretty, look at those eyes.  Walking away now.   I had to look away before my cheeks started to burn under his adoration.
“Thank you, Commander Wolffe”
Without anything further I went back to sitting at Strut’s table, everyone watched as I took my seat, picking up the brush and continued painting, as though nothing had happened.  The men were feeling embarrassed enough as it is, who was I to add to their guilt?
After a few seconds everyone went back to what they were doing, eventually all the men came and offered their apology, or asked if I would be willing to paint their armour, which I heartily accepted, eventually Strut and I were left alone.
“That… I’m sorry for that” Strut said when he was sure no one else was paying attention to our table.
“It’s okay.  It’s not so bad.  It just can become a bit stressful at times, because I can hear everything.  However, I try my best not to listen, but sometimes things are said that catch my ears, and as much as I try to tune it out, I can’t.  It’s rare, but it does happen.”
Strut simply nodded, “Can I ask you something?”
“You’re not my pet, Strut.  You just remind of someone, and I want to make sure you are honoured, it’s something he would have wanted.”  He just looked at me, clearly that is what he was wondering.  “I wanted to honour you in some way after your first time in the field, and this is all I could think of.”
“Thank you, Commander” Strut was a cutie, he was just so sweet, and reminded me so much of Copper.
Once again, I could feel the intense stare and a shift in their force signature, I knew who it was.  I glanced over to Wolffe, I gave him a small smile, maybe we did get off to a wrong start, but I knew he had my back, and more importantly he trusted me.
Seeing her sitting there with the shiny, her graciousness, her dignity, her mildness, such a contradiction to my own personality.  Definitely going to make sure I’m the man she deserves.  For you mesh’la, I’ll try.
I didn’t even realize that my smile grew as I realized I had a new friend.  Although he tried to hide it, I could see the corner of his mouth smirking too.  Maybe this assignment wouldn’t be so bad after all.

Sneak Peek Sundays
Hello lovelies,
Welcome to another Sneak Peek Sunday.  I have to say I really enjoy sharing little tidbits from my upcoming work.  I can’t even believe the Wolffe story is done this week.  Man I’m gonna miss those two.  I do have an idea for a one-off concerning them in line with @firstofficerwiggles Gala AU, so be prepared for that, although I’m not sure when it’ll be done.  If I can, I’ll try to have it done for this Friday if not possibly next.
Don’t forget this Tuesday is the last part for Moving On as such there will only be one sneak peek this week.   There will also be a new Reunion, but I haven’t had a chance to type that up, so no sneak peek for the Bad Batch story line, sorry! All I'll say about Bad Batch this week is its filler fluffy story line, much like Friday's episode. This will be one of the times the story line doesn't actually follow along with Canon.  Wednesday will have a new chapter of Sins of the Father, and Friday, there will be a new one-off featuring Boba.  That one-off is very special to me, you will learn more about that come Friday, so make sure to read the A/N for that one.
Without further ado, sneak peek time!

ONE STEP FORWARD
“Hey vod’ika!”
I turned to the voice, I knew it could only be Sinker, and sure enough there he was motioning me over.  What I didn't expect was for everyone else in the mess hall to turn to look at me too.  The attention was a little unnerving, and caused me to blush something fierce.  I shook my head and refocused, walking over to Sinker with my tray of food.
“Hey Sinker”
“Sit with us” he motioned to the space in front of him.
I smiled at the table and took the seat, “this is Corporal Comet, over here we have ARC Trooper Blackout, and ARC Trooper Night, they’re batchmates, if you can’t tell”
“It’s nice to meet you all”
“Commander Stonn, why does Sinker call you vod’ika?” Asked Comet
“Why not?” I offered with a shrug
“Because I’ve decided to look after her”  Sinker answered
I couldn’t hide my admiration for Sinker, Curl would have liked him, “thank you Sinker, I’m sure Curl… I mean Commander Curl would have appreciated it,” I couldn’t help the smile that appeared.
“Commander Curl? Oh wait, you’re that Jedi…”
“Comet!” Sinker cut him off, with a glare, “It’s okay Sinker.  Yes, I’m the Jedi who lost her entire squad.” I looked down at my food and just played with it.
“You’re not eating vod’ika” Blackout noticed
“I’m not really hungry”
“When was the last time you ate?” Night inquired, looking at my sunken cheeks with a stern countenance.
“What day is it?”
“Zhellday” Sinker answered
“Then almost two days ago”
“WHAT?!?” they shouted in unison, “What’s the problem?” Master Plo’s voice broke in, as he walked over to our table, “oh nothing special General, it just seems the Commander here hasn’t eaten in two days”, I gave Sinker an annoyed expression.  I knew I had to eat, but he didn’t have to call me out like that in front of my older master, my father.  I mean really.
“Is this true, little one?”
I couldn’t bare to bring my eyes to look at him, “uh maybe”
“Hmm” was all he offered, “Sergeant Sinker, I need you to assign one soldier for each meal to make sure Commander Stonn is eating, make up a roster, and put myself and Commander Wolffe on the list”.
“If I promise to eat, can we forego the roster, and we don’t need to put Commander Wolffe on the list”
“No, and yes we do.  Unless there’s a specific reason you don’t want him looking after you” I shook my head no.
He doesn’t like me.
Little one you can’t know that for sure.
I heard him after the war meeting, he thinks I killed my men, and that I’ll get his men killed.
I can speak with him.
No! It’s okay.  I’ll… I’ll deal with him.
Master Plo simply nodded, “let me know when the roster is done, Sergeant Sinker”
“Yes, sir”
“Padawan?”
“Yes, Master?”
“You still haven’t touched your food, I’m not leaving until I see at least one spoonful go into your mouth.”
I nodded, I’m sorry Master, it’s just … it just slipped my mind, between my anxiety and starting the new commission, I just couldn’t bring myself to eat.
I know little one, but you can’t neglect your well being.  Have you mediated yet?
I tried … ugh, but my voice was too loud.
We can try together once you’re done eating.
As soon as I grabbed a spoonful and ate it, true to his word my master left our table and headed off, “Comet, would you mind staying with her and making sure she eats everything” Sinker asked without looking at Comet.
“You got it, Sergeant”
“Guys, really, there’s no need…”
“Uh, yeah I think there is, you haven't eaten in two days, clearly there is a need” offered Blackout.  “Listen, we know it’s difficult when we lose someone.  Especially, someone we love” I looked up at Blackout, he simply gave a smirk, and looked at the pendant that hung off my neck.  It was a fancy curl that had been made from an armour’s plastoid, without thinking, I began fiddling with the curl, “but you’re not doing him or yourself any favours by not taking care of yourself.  You’re also not doing us any favours, we need you in top shape when we go to battle.”
“I know, I’m sorry” I couldn’t face any of them, my eyes drifted back to my food, they were right, if Curl was alive, he would be the first one to yell at me for not taking better care of myself.  “Hey vod’ika, look at me” Sinker said, pulling me out of my own thoughts, “we care okay, that’s why we’re going to make sure that you take care of yourself.”
I nodded and kept eating, true to his word Comet stayed by my side the entire time, making sure to nudge me to keep eating.  He was sweet, reminded me a lot of Coil, Coil always made sure everyone was taken care of, that they looked after themselves.
- - - - - - -
“Double check your gear, triple check it, I want to make sure we are prepared for any possible scenario, understood?” Commander Wolffe’s voice rang through the hangar.  Regardless of how he treated me over the past few days, or what he thought of me, his men hung on his every word, they trusted their Commander.  As such I did my best to continue to show him respect, regardless of how every time we were in the same room, I could feel nothing but animosity from him.  Every time he looked at me, it was with the strength of a thousand vibroblades cutting to my very core.
I continued the briefing “team Alpha will join General Skywalker’s team, to begin the planting of bombs to the West ridge.  Team Bravo will be joining General Kenobi’s team and planting the bombs to the North Ridge.  Team Capital will be with me and Commander Cody’s team planting the bombs along the canyon route, and Team Delta will be with General Plo waiting for the opportune moment to grab the tactical droid.  Should the droids head toward the canyon on their own, Team Delta will rendezvous with Team Alpha and Bravo and converge at the coordinates by the canyon.  Should the droids not change tactics, and capture of the tactical droid is not possible, Team Capital will attack from the East, using the high ground of the canyon walls for tactical advantage.  Any questions?”  I looked over the battalion of men that were ready to follow my plan.
“No sir!” Came the resounding boom, they had just as much confidence in me as they did in their Commander Wolffe, please let this plan work.  Please.  Only time will tell, who knows, you may be responsible for the deaths of an entire battalion of Republic Soldiers.  Oh please, not right now.
“You did well, young one”
“Thank you, Master”
“However, I sense doubt in you”
“I just want the plan to work.  I don’t want to be the reason we lose men”
“This is a war little one, no matter how well we prepare and plan, sometimes losing men is inevitable, but how many men we lose defines how well a plan is executed.”  My master left my side when someone called him over.
He was right of course, but it didn’t make it any easier:
‘well this plan better work, or I’m coming for your head’
Wolffe muttered under his breath.  Maybe I should tell him that I can hear him, so he can stop doing that around me.  But then you’ll lose the advantage.  What advantage? We’re on the same side.  You never know when that might come in handy.  I don’t have time for your nonsense, not today.  Fine, just saying.
“How are you feeling, vod’ika?”
“I’m okay Blackout, just pre-attack jitters.”
“We got your back, and in truth, it’s a good plan.”
“I hope so” I gave him a smirk, showing I appreciated his kind words.  He glanced from my eyes to the floor, and I could see a small blush creeping up on his face.
“Hey if Blackout is saying it’s a good plan, you can take that to the bank”
“Ha, thanks Night, but maybe you have too much faith in me”
“Nonsense, we have the right amount” Night said with an added wink, I was able to get to know Blackout, Night, Comet and Sinker a bit more over the past few days.  They were all good men.  Blackout wasn’t afraid to call people out when he needed to, Night was a constant flirt, although it was harmless, he was often able to distract me from my voice.  Comet was kind, he always was checking in to make sure I was okay, and Sinker was always there with me at meal times, even though he made up the roster, he would sit with me and the other trooper, even if he had reports to write, he would bring them with him so we could always eat together.  It wasn’t like my old squad, but it felt nice to be looked after.
I just shook my head at their antics, although I had just met them a short while ago, I found we were able to get along quickly.  Without thinking I grabbed the pendant hanging off my neck and started playing with it, something I noticed I had started to do when I felt comfortable, “what’s that?” Came the booming Commander’s voice.
“What’s what?” I asked looking around, I hadn’t even realized I had the pendant in my hand when he asked.
“What are you holding?”
“Oh” I looked from the pendant to Commander Wolffe, to Blackout, to Night, “oh, it’s … it’s a pendant”
“I know it’s a pendant,” the Commander answered angrily, “what does it mean?”
“It was just a gift from my … my …”
“From your squad, right?” Offered Sinker, everyone turned to look at him.  I'm not sure when he had walked up to us, but he came to stand right beside me.  His left hand resting on my shoulder, I turned to look at him and mouthed a silent ‘thank you’.
“Yeah, like Sinker said, I got it from my squad.  It was to indicate they would always have my back, and I would always have theirs.”
“Commander Stonn?” A voice from beside one of the shuttles got my attention.
“Excuse me, boys. Commander” I bowed and walked away.
“Blackout, Night, I’m sure, you boys have something to do, right?” Sinker directed at the two men standing in front of me.  They simply nodded and walked off.
“I don’t trust her”, I needed to tell Sinker what was on my mind, she hadn't even been here a week and she had some of my men around her finger.
“Why?”
“She got her whole squad killed.  It doesn’t seem as though she really thinks things through, her plan is reckless.  It’s probably what got her men killed.”
“Commander, with all due respect you don’t know what you’re talking about” I looked at Sinker, he never contradicted me.  Especially when it comes to my intuition.
“What did you say, Sergeant?”
“I said, you don’t know what you’re talking about Wolffe”.
“That’s Commander Wolffe, and yes, I do.”  Sinker’s face twisted to show his annoyance with me, well he can be annoyed with me all he wants, but I know I’m right.  She can’t be trusted.
“Really? How?”
“I read the report”
“You mean the report which clearly stated they were overrun by two battalions and three tankers.  The one that also indicated they were given bad intel, and how she did everything she could to save her men.”  How could he be defending this woman?
“Not everything is in that report”
“What does that mean?”  He didn’t know, because I never told him, well get ready to be shocked your little pet isn’t perfect.
“Listen Sinker, your little pet isn’t perfect, alright, the day before they were going to leave for the mission, Curl contacted me, he said he had to tell me something.  He said that his General, huh, if she even deserves that title, that his General had a bad feeling about it, before he could tell me more, I had to walk away to a briefing with General Plo.  Tell me this, if she did everything she could, and  she had this so-called bad feeling, why didn’t she fight the order.  Hmm?  Why did she force them to go?  She’s a Jedi, she should have known better.  Her arrogance cost her the lives of ten good men, one of whom was my batchmate.  She got my brothers killed.”
“Commander, she’s a Jedi, she’s not perfect! I mean look at Skywalker, look at the other Jedis, they try their best to bring home our brothers, but sometimes things happen.  Also that’s not what Curl was going to tell you.”
“How do you know?”
“Because she told me”
“How can you trust her?  She could be lying, saying anything to save her skin.  Maybe she’s like Krell, ever thought of that?”
“She’s not lying! She’s nothing like that monster!  Do you honestly think the General would have allowed her on this ship, if she was” well he has a point there, the General loved us as his own children, he would never put us in danger, or have someone on the ship that didn’t respect us as people.
“How do you know she isn’t lying?”
“Because she blames herself, she tried to get more information about the intel, she tried to get someone to listen to her, that they shouldn’t go on that mission.   They didn’t listen to her.  She blames herself more than you can know, there’s nothing you can say that she hasn’t already voiced in her own mind.  Commander, she’s been through hell and back.”
“You got a thing for her don’t you?  Some girl just flaps her eyelashes at you and you go crawling into whatever hole she tells you.”  Why was Sinker being interested in this woman getting me angry?  Who cares if she had soulful eyes?  Sinker can have her.  Yet at the thought of him being the one to touch her sent my stomach into knots.
“Are you insane?  I’m not interested in her, she’s like my little sister.  I  simply don't have the issue, you seem to be having. I  trust her.”
“What am I then?  Am I not your Commanding officer? Am I not your vod?  I’m more your family, then she is, you should trust my gut when I tell you, there’s something about her.”
“Sir, I respect you to the ends of the universe, I will fight by your side till my last dying breath.  But you are wrong about her.” Sinker took a deep breath, looked to the ground and focused his attention on me, “Commander, you should know Curl was leaving the GAR for her.”
“What?” No, that’s not right.  My batchmate would never … he wouldn’t just abandon the GAR.
“They decided before they received their orders for the mission, she was going to leave the Jedi Order, he was going to leave the GAR, and they were planning to have a family with unruly kids.  He was going to tell you.  They made a decision to be together, and that pendant was the last thing he gave her, it was the promise between them, despite the twists and turns of life, they would be together always.”
“You learned all of this in two days?”
“Partly.  The pendant, Curl, told me a few days before he contacted you, he had called to get my opinion on it.  He also told me, he had a bad feeling about the mission.  He made me promise that if anything should happen to him, I would look out for her.  He was my brother too, Wolffe.”
We didn’t say anything for a while, the idea that Curl was her … he was going to leave?  She had lost more than just her squad,  she lost her future.
“Also…” Sinker cut in, “just FYI, the only reason she told me all of that, is because I walked in on her having a panic attack.  She opened up to me, and I listened.  She’s not responsible for her men’s death.  For her fiancé’s death.  He sacrificed his life to save her, and putting the blame on her cheapens his death.  With all due respect Commander, I won’t let you do that to Curl, he was a good man, and he made the decision of putting her life over his.  I’m sorry, but I won’t let you cheapen his sacrifice for the woman he loved.”
“Okay Sinker.  Okay”, I wonder if I had been the one to find her having the panic attack, if I had just been willing to have a conversation with her, or even just asking the General about her, I would have found out about all of this.
“Get to your ship Sergeant.  We’ll be heading out soon.”
“Yes, sir” Sinker saluted and walked off, that was the first time Sinker had ever stood up for someone not connected to the Wolf Pack, usually he would keep his opinions to himself, but this woman.  No, this Commander Stonn really meant a lot to him, because of his promise to Curl.   I wish Curl had been able to tell me, I wish I got a chance to say a proper goodbye.   I heard a pair of boots walk up beside me.
“Commander Wolffe?”
“Yes, General” I turned my full attention to the man in front of me.
“I think we’re ready”
“Yes, General”
“Are you ready?”
“Yes, General”
“Then why do I sense hesitation from you?”
“It’s not about the mission sir”
“About Commander Stonn?”
Kriffing Jedi! “Sir…”
“It’s okay Commander, she’s unsure about you too.  You both just need to get to know each other.  You don’t need to worry about your men, she will fight till her dying breath for them and even you.  Your men are in good hands, Commander” the General laid a hand on my shoulder, squeezing it to reinforce his words.  How did he do that?  How did he know when I needed to be reassured?
“Yes, General”
“I think we should board our shuttles, wouldn’t you say?”
“Yes, General”
As I walked over to my shuttle, I noticed how Commander Stonn had her arms around a shiny, she was laughing with him, calming him down.  She clearly cared, but maybe caring just isn’t enough.
As I boarded my shuttle, I felt eyes watching me. I looked over my shoulder while I was walking with the new trooper, Strut, and caught a prosthetic eye watching me with fierceness.  It sent a shiver down my spine, I really hope he isn’t planning my murder.

Congratulations on the followers!! You know I think you're such a wonderful writer and I adore your work. I'd like to know 4, 6, and 9, please 😊
@firstofficerwiggles Thank you love, I wasn’t expecting that many followers. Love oo.
4 - Favourite character you’ve written?
Ohhh, this is a good question. Really I’ve loved all my OCs characters, but I guess if I had to choose, I can boil it down to three.
Jirli Stonn-Koon from the Moving On series with Wolffe. I love how soft she is, but how sure of herself she also is. She can kick ass, take names, but she’s also sweet and tender as will be demonstrated in the new chapters for Moving On.
Amara Vel from Sins of the Father, that woman is as badass as you can get, but her heart beats for her family and friends, I think she’s the epitome of the kind of person I would like to be.
Tala Ilian aka Phoenix Ghost from The Reunion, she is an amazing character to write, she’s complex, she’s real, and she’s not afraid to make the sacrifice play.
6 - Something you would go back and change in your writing that it’s too late/complicated to change now?
You know I’m not sure. Thinking back to all my stories, I’m not sure there is anything that is too late/complicated to change. I am planning to do a rewrite on the first two stories I ever posted - well technically the dreams I had, maybe make them into something.
9 - What, if anything, do you do for inspiration?
My inspiration is a bit weird, it’s either dreams that I have, experiences from my own life or sometimes it’s rereading what I’ve written and putting myself in the story, picturing it as a movie to see if I can see how it flows and works. Other times, it’s just a phrase from a book/fanfic I’ve read or a scene or line from TV show/movie.
Thank you for asking such amazing questions! They really made me think. Love oo
