So...

A company called Robosen is making actual transforming robot Grimlocks.

They're not life-sized (sadly/thankfully), but a YouTuber known as "JettKuso" (who usually does Bakugan videos) just released a video on them.

They also made an Optimus Prime toy.

I just think it's neat.

And they cost twice as much as freaking Unicron.

Hello there, the Bakugan fandom is (mostly) not dead. There are quite a few blogs on here and over on Deviant Art but we seem to be mostly active on YouTube, JettKuso, BakuTalk Haru Ren, Aquos Frost just to name a few

As much as I want to get into the new tcg for bakugan. It feels too different compared to the old version of the game. At its best (aka battle brawler/new vestroia) days, the game was a fun distraction.

I have the problem of living in a rural part of the UK; getting into the TCG is hard for me because I can’t find it anywhere that would be ideal (i.e. in my city. There���s stores that stock the TCG, but I’d have to go around two towns over. In rural. That’s an hour long drive if I’m unlucky.)

I personally really like the TCG (it’s an actual game, for a start,) but there are bits that I personally dislike (Life deck system, for example. Please just give me another way of calculating how close I am to losing. I’m terrible at deck organising. Also, I’m really not a fan of the fact that the two versions of the TCG aren’t cross compatible. I’d like to use my legacy bakugan!!)

That all being said, I’d like to suggest JettKuso’s Melee Mode- it’s a fusion of the new and old TCG styles (and also the first VG’s battle system, interestingly), and is much quicker than the new style as a result. Here’s the video he introduces the concept in, and the pinned comment has a google docs link to the rules in word document form. I can’t believe JettKuso is following in the footsteps of the fictional Kuso--

Something I’d like to point out though, is if you want to use old bakugan in the new TCG, I’d have subterra act as aurelus and vice versa; Melee Mode takes advantage of the gate cards reintroduced in the reboot.

I’m saying this because it’s more than likely that you’ll have legacy gatecards laying around, and so if you want to use them, that’s how aurelus would react to legacy gates.

It doesn’t help that legacy bakugan had character gatecards, not character cards that show their G-power, or added cores. I’d ignore this, and fix the problem by going with the cores of the closest looking new bakugan to them (Skyress might then have the same cores as Sairus would have, for example.)

As an extra ruling, in the in case that a legacy bakugan has to use a core with no G/B-power boost, but rather a damage boost or some other effect; treat them as a fixed boost in power, depending on the effect.

For example (I’ll use damage here because I already mentioned it) if a core adds, say, +5 damage to my bakugan, I might treat that as a +50G/B boost, multiplied by the amount of damage.

In this case, the +5 damage translates to +250G/B-power.

If you are going to go with the extra ruling, I’d clarify that with a friend beforehand, just so you’re both ok with what the extra effects do. Remember to write it down for reference!

As a personal rule, I’d treat any fusion bakugan as an Angelo/Diablo deal; use one attribute, not both (Angelo and Diablo are both part aquos, but one is haos and the other is pyrus, and so would be treated as pure haos and pyrus bakugan.) This is mostly entirely down to how broken fusion bakugan can get as a result of ruling dictating that they’d get both gate bonuses (if the gate is opened.)
