🧠 Share a headcanon/theory about the show that you like!
So many to choose from! A hc/theory I like is that there is a jellicle hierarchy but at the same time jellicle communism with everyone taking roles and caring for each other under the guided direction of Old Deuteronomy (leader, protectors, deputys, patrons/matrons, etc....). To extend on this: if Macavity didn't get excommunicated, he would have been the current jellicle protector and in line for the next leader instead of his younger brothers Munkustrap and Tugger
🎁 If you could give any of the ensemble cats a song, who would it be? What would it be about?
I talked about Jellylorum and Asparagus with their own song, but another contendor would be Munkustrap! Imagine being the only one in your direct family without a song lmao. I really think bc Munk is a man of his people, it would be everyone singing about him helping and protecting everyone. Maybe they do it when he becomes leader!

My mother had the 1998 film on tape! I grew up watching it. I remember being sad but confused for Grizabella as a kid, but loving Tugger and Mistoffelees' songs!

its *probably* going to be from either jsfjc or the ball itself. i'm currently running through a list in my mind that includes munk lifting victoria, "are you blind when youre born?", the head shakes, the bit of the ball that's just lonz/pounce/misto/tumble/cass (ooooo the casslonzo moments,,,,), the boys coming to dance w the girls after bomba comes in and takes over, the end of the ball where they're all dancing together and gettng rly hyped up and mungo helping vic down the stairs. oh and also every time mungo and vic are in the same shot.
there's literally so many to choose from ahhhhhh
i'm going to go with "are you blind when you're born?" and that whole shot of munk simply because i always get excited chills when i watch it because *i'm watching cats again yesss!!* i honestly love it so much

Do you still have that Jellicle name generator saved anywhere? Some friends and I used it for our OCs and it was an absolute blast!
The name I got was Callio the convivial cat, which is short for Calliope, who I played in Xanadu. She has a whole costume and everything now!

Jellicle Name Generator
This will give you a name that is relatively in-line with the naming conventions seen in Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot and later adapted into the musical Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber - and unlike those shitty "last name and your birth month" name generators, this one won't doxx you in the process.
Before we begin, a bit of terminology we'll be using:
- Portmanteau: Turning multiple words into one word linked by a sound or letter. Compelling Television = Compellevision. Punk Squid = Squnk
- Smoosh: Combine words by simply removing the space and (optionally) changing the word positions. Country Jester = countryjester
- Prefix: Goes before the name, like Mr. or Captain
- Suffix: Goes after the name, like Jr. or The Great
- Cat-like term: Something associated with cats. Meow, Whisker, Bell, Claw, Scratch, etc.
FIRST: Roll a D20 to determine your base name
An uncommon person’s first name
First syllable of a common last name + a unit of measurement. Portmanteau 'em.
Short, dangerous noun + a non-dangerous profession. Smoosh 'em.
Two Latin words. Portmanteau 'em.
A simple present-tense verb + sophisticated person's first name. Smoosh 'em.
Cat-like term + sophisticated person's first name. Smoosh 'em.
Combine two short nouns, then add "-er" "-ie" or "-est" to the end.
Think of an actor you like. Shorten their first name to its shortest nickname.
A medical term spelled incorrectly.
A food you liked as a kid + a pretentious word. Smoosh 'em.
A figure of legend/myth. Remove one syllable and any spaces.
An older person's first name that isn't common today.
Last name of a historical figure + a silly word. Portmanteau 'em.
A kids' name with 2 or more syllables + that name again without the first syllable + an onomatopoeia. Portmanteau 'em if you can.
A silly word + the first name of a former coworker. Portmanteau 'em.
A kind of public event + a cat-like term. Smoosh 'em.
Something from ancient history. Shorten what you came up with into a single word.
Something you do when you're nervous. Take that verb and add "-er" to the end to make it a noun.
Silly word + hostile-sounding verb. Portmanteau 'em.
Two silly words with 2+ syllables each. Smoosh 'em.
SECOND: Roll another D20 for flavor
Before you roll, consider how your name sounds without any additional flavor. If it's fine on its own, feel free to leave it as-is. Otherwise, roll on!
Suffix - An upsettingly average last name
Suffix - Think of a hobby. Your suffix is "The _____ Cat"
Prefix - A short adjective
Suffix - Think of an adjective. Your suffix is "The _____ Cat"
Prefix - Choose Mr. Mrs. Ms. Mx. or something similar
Suffix - Think of a color. Your suffix is "The _____ Cat"
Prefix - Any one-syllable word. Repeat the word a second time, adding or replacing the first consonant with that of your base name.
Suffix - Think of any non-proper noun. Your suffix is "The _____ Cat"
Suffix - it's the word Cat
Suffix - it's the word Kitty
Suffix - it's the word Kitten
Prefix - Choose "Sir" "Madam" "Captain" or something similar
Prefix - Choose "Lord" "Lady" "Noble" or something similar
Prefix - His/Her/Their Majesty (or any pronoun you prefer)
Prefix - His/Her/Their Grace (or any pronoun you prefer)
Prefix - Mc
Prefix - Van
Prefix - Von
Prefix - De
Suffix - Any cat-like term
And you're done!*
*This is as much a creative exercise as it is a "generator" so feel free to mess with the formula and/or let your result inspire something more original. Add multiple layers of flavor if you want. The rules are not rigid. I recommend generating a few names and picking your favorite!

Thanks to @realreulbbrband my vibes for drawing got somewhat resurrected so I did a little catified redraw of my fav moment in Cats Brno which is the Italian Aria

1940S CATS HUMAN AU??? Pls say more right now! Mechanic is such a Plato job I love it!
So I have, like, the skeleton concerning this AU, but I have recently been really into human!AUs that are closer to the time period that the original poems were written. I'm afraid I don't have a *lot* but the idea is vaguely shaped in my head.
Basically, I really only have thoughts regarding Macavity's circle, and it's not quite a *happy* one persay (also takes a lot of liberties by playing it fast and loose with historical accuracy): not exactly full blown organized mob, but skirting the edges. Demeter, a former entertainer, being a "mob wife" who got in her position by biting off just a bit more than she could chew and paying the price for it; Alonzo having long standing ties since he was a dumber and more desperate young kid who is trapped where he is and sees no real way out of it, jumps from blue collar job to blue collar job after (bonus: he's in love with the boss's wife which is extra funTM for him); Plato is Macavity's son from a previous marriage and got most of his jobs due to Alonzo's good graces of trying to keep him away from everything. Bombalurina was an artist (a singer, dancer and photographer) now informant who used to have a *thing* with Macavity, but ended up marrying another guy in his circle (who died at some point) to keep her tabs open and keep close after he married Demeter. Jerrie and Teazer are underlings and petty thieves (actually extremely brilliant ones who have gotten away with entite safes) who, again, are just on the fringes and not quite aware of the level of severity they're involved in (Teazer moreso than Jerrie), but are nonetheless in initiation periods. Etc. Etc.
Victoria in my mind is the daughter of a billionaire (likely very prestigious familial name, generational wealth, managed through the Great Depression pretty much unscathed); think like debutante level of wealth. She plays the piano and is just coming into her own in the world.

🧵 What's your favorite production and why?
The 1998 film! (with Paris '89, Moscow '05, and Mexico '13 as close seconds)
I grew up with the '98 film on vhs, and though I didn't come to appreciate it until I was an adult, it's close in my heart. I actually have my childhood tape signed by the US tour 6 part 2 cast! [See picture attatched]
Other than nostalgia, what I love most about it is the diversity with age and chemistry within the cast!! You truly believe it's a multi-generational multi-familial outcast group of felines! The acting/singing/dancing is beyond phenomenal, especially considering what a lot of the cast went through while filming. I love having something I can watch time and time again 💖

So, what is your absolute favourite headcanon? Which one is an "unpopular opinion"? Do you remember your first headcanon?
one of my favorite headcanons is that Demeter is Electra and Jemima's mother(and Mac is the father). It's one of my older headcanon that I came up with when I was first making family trees. It just makes so much sense to me . Of course, Jemima has a similar design to Demeter, and most of the fandom headcanons them as mother and daughter, so I feel I don't need to explain that, But with Electra, I'll explain more.
She's a tortoiseshell like Demeter, red like Macavity . And at least in the 98 film, instead of pushing her, they way he pushed Etcetera , he just puts his paw up. Also, Electra has so many cute moments with munkustrap (her stepfather).
An unpopular opinion is that old Deutronomy's children are not all grizabella's. They have two kids together in my headcanon, baby grizz and spike .Old Deutronomy has at least 9 wives and numerous children, but I mostly see deutbella having macavity, Munkustrap, and tugger. One wife and three children, isn't it. Also, they all look different. The boys are all different colors and patterns. It makes more sense for at least one of them to have a different mom. In my headcanon, they all have different mom's, all ocs. Macavitys mom is milliy, munks is Mary Shelly, and tuggers is Juliet.
My first headcanon was that jellylorum is Jemima's mother. It was because she and jem had that part where they both sing at grizabella.

how do the kitttens (tumble, pounce, cettie, electra and jem) react to seeing snow for the first time?
Tumble immediately learned how to make snowballs so that he could throw them at everybody. Pounce thought he could use snow as a cushion if he fell from the junk pile, but he ended up with some icy bruises. Cettie darted from the nursery and shoved her whole face in a soft mound. Lettie didn’t like snow because it’s cold, and she still isn’t fond of it. Jemima was hesitant at first (because she saw Electra’s reaction), but once she tested it with a paw it became her new favorite thing. Jemima loves chasing the others and throwing snow at them!

Since I love her, and love hearing other people’s thoughts on her, what are your opinions on Victoria? Do you have any ships for her? Or favorite moments? <3
Victoria? Hm...
Ships? Mostly platoria, victeazer, eventually vicjerrieteazer or mistoria. I'm not sure about Jemima/Victoria...
My favourite moment with her (and whole interpretation of that character) is in Tecklenburg, when her solo is changed and other cats treat her like The Moon herself, hypnotized by her moves and grace. In that case her touching Grizabella got completely new meanings. And much more sense than usual.
I love to think about her as a very connected with Jellicle Moon and Everlasting Cat, talking with her when sitting on windowsill, and basking in moonlight. Because of that I don't think she likes to nap in the sun. I love how close she is to Etcetera, Electra, Jemima, and Teazer and I think they are really BBFs, with their club, secret password and small rituals :) Also I see her as quite a temperamental queen, when someone irritates her enough. When with Plato I see her as an initiator of many activities, because Plato, as a full time jellicle, is a little afraid of doing something harmful to her. So she took his hand first, kissed him first, she set a mood to take him to bed finally, etc. Also, I think she is a rather happy little star, full of joy but not naive in any sense. So she knows what Teazer and Jerrie are doing, but just don't care about that, maybe even helps them as a distraction.
Sometimes I see her as a deaf and/or (because of that) mute angora, with blue eyes. In one of my AUs, she is close to Tango, my OC, also deaf angora. They both use sign language there and love to dance.
In other AU I made her as an alter ego for Griddlebone, because Plato is an alter ego for Macavity there. They aren't together there, but they are acting like that, to keep their alibis.
In general I don't think very often about her, so I'm sorry if this is not much... :(
