Propaganda
Jeanette MacDonald (The Merry Widow, Monte Carlo)— vivacious and luminous, jeanette macdonald was known for her beautiful operatic soprano voice. she appeared in a series of witty and sparkling musical comedies directed by ernst lubitsch in the early 1930s, usually opposite maurice chevalier. in the late 30s and 40s she was often paired with operatic baritone nelson eddy.
Katharine Hepburn (Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, The African Queen)—This woman. I have been obsessed with her for years. I know the urban legend is a popular one at this point of her walking around set in her underwear when her pants were stolen and she was left with only a skirt, but the pants thing is honestly enough for her to be the hottest in the room in my book. She refused to wear anything else at a time when the public in general and especially the studios did not like that. She was independent, stubborn, and so so very capable. Competency kink anyone? Also, if you want one final way that Katharine's entire life was saying "fuck you" to the establishment, it started young! Her mother took her to suffrage events, and she never got rid of that attitude of justice. I feel like I have barely scratched the surface of all the ways she was such a badass that I'm turning into a rambling mess instead.
This is round 2 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.

Katharine Hepburn propaganda:
Tumblr media
I'm sure one million people will submit her as an iconic Hollywood star but that iconicness might lead people to forget just how insanely hot she was like she had it ALL she was skilled she was funny she was smart she was beautiful AND she was likely bisexual
Tumblr media
The single word I would use to explain Katherine Hepburn's appeal is *range*. In her acting career, that meant covering all the ground between lush period dramas and the comedies she did with Carey Grant and Spencer Tracey. In terms of hotness, it meant an uncanny ability to bring anything from a Dietrich-esque androgyny to some of the best Classic Hollywood Glamour you will ever see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Katharine hep was so cool. The VIBES, the INDEPENDENCE,,, living life on her own terms.
she just had this.... bearing to her, this power. she could be funny, even silly (like in bringing up baby) but also so regal and elegant. she was nobody's fool and dear GOD that's so hot
Tumblr media
Fancam link
She’s not only stunningly gorgeous (those eyes that pierce your soul! a jawline you could cut glass with!) but her delivery and physical presence in roles gives off confidence and authority in such a sexy way (truly the biggest dick energy of Old Hollywood). Her fiery energy in The Philadelphia Story? Unmatched.
Tumblr media
God she's. She's so hot y'all. She has the range!!!!! Funny and dramatic and lovely
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She IS the transatlantic accent. Classically gorgeous and such a strong personality.
She's literally one of the funniest women to ever live! She goes shot for shot with Cary Grant in Philadelphia Story and we damn well love her for it! She's the most annoying creature to ever live in Bringing Up Baby but she's so insane and funny that we simply cannot help but fall in love with her (and root for her to give Grant an aneurysm!)
Tumblr media
i know she's accounted for but i really want to be sure someone has submitted the scene in bringing up baby where she's pretending to be a gangster
youtube
She simply stuns onscreen; you cannot do anything but be captivated by her presence. Also a non-gender-conforming icon and mild tumblr celebrity by virtue of that one picture from The Warrior's Husband (stage play).
Tumblr media
Katharine Hepburn was out here casually changing the lives of young butch lesbians with her gender swag! She wore pants even when people said she shouldn’t, she refused to marry or have kids, and she wore menswear in at LEAST one movie!
Tumblr media
Someone's got to mention it, but she's won the most Oscars out of any performer and is largely considered one of the greatest actresses ever. She's got an incredible voice, an incredible presence, and she absolutely steals every scene she's in. She was private person and deemed standoffish and unapproachable, but she was also profoundly concerned for people's rights and was an outspoken supporter of abortion access. Finally, the Katharine Hepburn slacks look is just iconic. I mean look at her.
Tumblr media
If I start thinking about her face for too long I will cry she is so so hot. Katherine is so charismatic and charming in everything she appears in - watch her adopt a leopard and fall in love with her. Also she has the biggest dick energy ever (she and her pal Lauren Bacall share that accolade). Also had an incredibly long and varied career from screw ball comedies to serious dramas - she’s a queen of the screen and I adore her.
(I hope someone else submits real propaganda but just in case they don't:) Cries. Screams. Wails. The woman who singlehandedly made me realize I was bi. A real "do i want to look like her. be her. or be with her.' crisis, where the answer was all three. Holy shit please all three.

ily 2004 vampire the masquerade bloodlines.
Ily janky ass unplayable combat mechanics and rushed ending levels entirely dependent on combat. Ily people trying their goddamn best to translate the pen and paper rules over to video game rules and still not Quite getting there but still having some things good to show for it. ily grungy disgusting streets and alleyways and sewers and warrens and bars and murder scenes and the strange people that inhabit them. Ily Confession and Asylum and Asp Hole and Last Round, and how distinct the bars are from each other aesthetically. Ily goth and punk fashion and music inspiration. Ily fangs showing in vampire npcs as they speak. Ily the absolute shitshow LA is and that you can see how the city is being pulled apart by the goddamn seams because of the brewing tensions and that no matter the outcome, the city loses.
I love you John DiMaggio's performance as Smiling Jack and his behind the scenes scheming and meddling and violence. I love you Grey Delisle’s performance as Jeanette and Therese and the reveal of the sisters for first time players. I love you incredibly animated character performances in both voice and character model, leaving iconic and lasting impressions from multiple characters. I love you detailed monster designs from Ming Xiao’s cephalopod war form, Andrei’s draconic Zulo form, the many szlachta of the sewers and their small details people would otherwise miss but are still there regardless, and Zygaena’s hammerhead shark hengeyokai form. I love you Pisha and her weird little organ pit in the abandoned hospital. I love you zombies in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery whose presences are never really explained. I love you ghouls who are both normal and Freaks: Mercurio and Knox and Romero and Vandal. I love you Nines' faint country accent. I love you Chunk <3
I love you asshole women Imalia and Damsel and Therese. I love you bitch men Gary and Isaac and Beckett. I love you Lacuna Coil playing during the credits. I love you Lecher Bitch playing in the Last Round. I love you Bloodlines Theme and the rest of Rik Schafer’s album. I love you Deb of Night. I love you utter terror of the Ocean House Hotel ghosts and Griffith Park werewolves. I love you malkavian insight and nosferatu isolation. LaCroix. I love you Rosa and her prophecies and the replayability of the game from both a clan and informed context perspective

does anyone have a full list of people john has dated?
And I mean John Watson from BBC Sherlock btw.
So far, I've got (in order):
Sarah Sawyer - doctor, interviewed John for a position at her(?) practice
Unnamed Woman #1 - "The one with the spots" according to Sherlock
Unnamed Woman #2 - "The one with the nose" according to Sherlock, and who has a dog according to John
Jeanette - "The boring teacher" according to Sherlock, decidedly does not have a dog, has said the following iconic quote: "You're a good boyfriend...and Sherlock Holmes is a very lucky man." She then promptly breaks up with John which is a slay tbh
Mary Morstan - the one John ends up actually marrying! We all know about her so I don't think any more elaboration is necessary.
Elizabeth (aka: Eurus Holmes) - Eurus poses as a woman on the bus and carries out an online, undefined relationship with John. I debated whether or not to include this one since they weren't technically together but John seems to genuinely think he was cheating on Mary when he was in contact with "Elizabeth" so I figured I'd add her to the list, anyway
I can't think of anyone else he was actively dating during the show but maybe there's someone I've missed. From what I can tell, there isn't an actual list of people anywhere (and John's fandom wiki page is woefully baron) so I figured I would do my best to compile one and then open it up to The Masses.
Please help lmao

Fandom song animatic tournament: Bracket 2 Side A
El Muchacho de los Ojos Tristes - Jeanette
"El muchacho de los ojos tristes Vive solo y necesita amor Como el aire necesita verme Como el sol lo necesito yo"
English Lyrics (Translation by a friend of mine):
"The boy with the sad eyes Lives alone and needs love Like air, he needs to see me Like the sun, I need him too"
Feelings are Fatal - Mxmtoon
"Closed doors, locked in, no keys Keeping my feelings hidden, there is no ease I need it to stop And I want to be able to open up, but My feelings are fatal"
Remember that we're voting on how Iconic they are for ANIMATICS, not for the song itself. In order to make things fair, the tone and mood of the song should not affect how iconic it is (for example, a serious song should not be considered more iconic than a joke song just because it's serious)
Propaganda and animatic links of the songs under the cut:
El Muchacho de los Ojos Tristes - Jeanette
Propaganda:
don't you understand, ser pounce is a sad sad kitty, he is all alone!
Ok, I NEED all non-hispanics to at least listen to the song before voting, Jeanette's voice is so sweet in this song (In all her songs really, but this one specially)
Animatics with the song:
Karmaland Luzuplay Animatic
Good Omens
Given
Karmaland Mangelito
Karmaland Luzana Animatic
Feelings are Fatal - Mxmtoon
Propaganda:
i am an mxmtoon stan but even if i wasn’t. cmon. it’s so terribly sad every time i love it
Animatics with the song:
BNHA Tododeku Animatic
Deltarune
Karmaland Rubegetta Animatic
Be More Chill Boyf riends Animatic
Karmaland Nieves Animatic
Please be cautious and read the title, description and warning cards on the animatic videos if you decide to watch them. If you've got specific triggers I'd recommend even more caution when watching animatics of fandoms you don't know, since sometimes canon-typical themes don't get warnings.
Please keep in mind that I don't know all the media and fandoms of the animatics provided as examples and I don't have the time (nor the will) to research them all. Don't come into my notes or my ask box complaining about them being included, I will simply block you. If a ship animatic included is about an adult and a minor, do tell me and I'll take it out of the post
ALSO keep in mind that I don't know all the artists submitted; in fact, even if I do know them I do not know absolutely nothing about them as people (I do not have twitter nor tiktok) and I could not POSSIBLY have the time to research ALL of the artists' controversies and what came of them so PLEASE don't flood my inbox with the artists' entire crime list.

character profiles: marianne beaugrand
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marie Antoinette is a household name, a well-known and storied figure who has become synonymous with Old World decadence and the extravagance of Francesim in a bygone era.
The upcoming biopic ‘A Glorious Dream’ is yet another adaptation of the life, times, and death of the infamous and captivating monarch of the late 18th century. The film, while one of many in a long line of portrayals, arguably sets itself apart for its bold, honest and nuanced depiction of pre-Revolutionary Francesim, the catalysts that led up to the infamous event, all centering around the foreign queen who would one day become a symbol of the sins of the elite as well as a feminine fashion icon.
We have been given the privilege of interviewing the young and immensely talented actress, Marianne Jeanette Beaugrand, about both her role as the contraversial queen as well as her career as a beacon of the French opera and her latest altruistic modeling campaign.
Welcomed by Mademoiselle Beaugrand in her luxurious chateau in the French countryside, we discuss her childhood in Marseille, her careers in music, fashion, and film, and how life in coastal Francesim inspired her to dive headfirst into a life dedicated to the world of art.

(JTA) — The United States Postal Service has released a new series of Forever stamps honoring Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the late Jewish Supreme Court justice and liberal icon who died in 2020.
The stamp, which became available for purchase on Monday, shows Ginsburg wearing her black judge’s robe and signature white collar. It was announced last year as part of the postal service’s 2023 lineup of new stamps, reflecting a jump on the service’s standard timeline for honoring deceased people.
The stamp’s release comes three years and two weeks after Ginsburg’s death at 87, after 27 years on the Supreme Court. Her death, from pancreatic cancer, came on the eve of Rosh Hashanah at a time of intense political polarization — which deepened as then-President Donald Trump pushed through a conservative replacement despite a looming presidential election.
“Honor an icon of American culture with this new Ruth Bader Ginsburg stamp,” the USPS says on its website. It says about Ginsburg: “She began her career as an activist lawyer fighting gender discrimination. She went on to become a judge who was unafraid to disagree with her colleagues. Ginsburg gained a reputation as a respected voice for equal justice.”
The RBG stamp costs $.66 but will hold its value over time as part of the Forever series. The portrait was drawn by Michael Deas, who has painted dozens of stamps, under the direction of the USPS’ Jewish art director, Ethel Kessler. The stamp will be celebrated at an official unveiling Monday evening at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Postal Service’s special edition stamps commemorating notable Americans have included many Jews, including the physicist Richard Feynman in 2005, cartoonist and inventor Rube Goldberg in 1995 and, in 1991, comedian Fanny Brice, the inspiration for the musical “Funny Girl.” The series in which Brice appeared was drawn by the Jewish illustrator Al Hirschfeld. Last year, the service released a special-edition stamp featuring the Jewish poet Shel Silverstein.
The USPS has also offered a range of Hanukkah stamps and last year introduced a new one, its ninth since 1996. The new stamp, which remains available, was drawn by Jeanette Kuvin Oren, a Jewish artist who also designs ritual objects for home and synagogue use.

Get to know you: Sims Style
Thank you to @executables-sims for the tag! Took me a few days, but this was fun to fill out.
What’s your favorite Sims death?
Easy, death by Cowplant! It's so iconic and peak Sims-ridiculousness. That it made its way into future games is no surprise. Plus, I don't have a ton of accidental death in my game, and the Cowplant keeps me on my toes.
Tumblr media
Alpha CC or Maxis Match?
Maxis Match as much as possible. I love TS2's aesthetic, even is some of it appears dated. My game certainly looks better in 2023 than it did in 2004, but it is still recognizably TS2
Do you cheat your sims weight?
No, I let it happen organically. Especially because I use Simler90's Slower Fitness Increase and Nopke's Fitness Decay, both of which really make you work for it. They are essential to my gameplay, but mean more of my sims have a high body skill than is probably normal. They are doing their best!
Do you move objects?
Of course. Why it isn't enabled in my UserStartup file is a question I ask myself daily.
Favorite Mod?
I have more than 500 mods so I don't know how I can pick. I could just say NUMENOR in all-caps to say everything he's done. But I'll go with a recent favorite, Nyami's Actual Alcohol Mod, because it adds chaos to gameplay and chaos is good.
Do you pronounce live mode like aLIVE or LIVing?
Living. We are in Live Mode, folks!
Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?
In an older prompt, I answered with Daniel Monona, but since then it's definitely been Duke Patricio. I've made him 3 times (in my OG 2000's game, where he married Nina Caliente, in a Base Game Starter hood, and again in my 2020's game). He and Zeeshan are my favorite couple and I'm sad they are so close to old age because I've had so much fun playing them (but I've also been giving them way too many extra days with Elixir of Life or Life Fruit).
Ari is #2, but I haven't played him for a bit because I'm stuck on what to do with him as a Vampire...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have you made a simself?
Nope, only one of my old TS2 Exchange avatar, which was intentionally not what I look like.
Which is your favorite EA hair color?
Never really thought about this, but maybe black?
Favorite EA hair?
Two male hairs, Rocker and Shortmop. Those two haircuts were iconic in my 2000's saves. Jeanette is my favorite CC hair.
Favorite life stage?
Teens. It's where my sims start to develop their personalities, and I begin to think about what I want them to do. They also haven't fully grown into their facial features yet, so you can get all sorts of good and bad surprises. Plus, they can cause lots of of trouble.
Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?
I still consider myself a builder, even though I play my game much more frequently these days. But I think 400+ uploaded lots in my time playing this game allows me to hold onto that label.
Are you a CC creator?
I guess so! Learning how to mesh and use Milkshape in the last year has radically changed how I see myself in the TS2 community, and has stolen so many days from me (the trial and error of making, and the trial and error of uploading), but its been a very fun skill to develop.
Do you have any Simblr friends or a Sim Squad?
I love my mutuals but I don't interact with other accounts too often. I don't post on a Sims discord or anything. Maybe I should?!
Do you have any sims merch?
I do not.
Do you have a YouTube for sims?
No and I would definitely not have time to produce one!
How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?
Loaded question time! For one, my game is much more LGBTQ+ than when I shared neighborhood save files with my siblings growing up. Now that it's my game, exploring different relationships with my sims is one of my favorite parts of play.
I've also become much more Maxis Match as I get older. The 2000's were a wild west for CC creation, and my old saves are bursting at the seams with painted-on clothes and the mid-decade emo aesthetic that I have absolutely no interest in playing in 2023.
Lastly, my build style used to be modern and CFE heavy, but now I prefer traditional (modern works better in TS3) and makeovers.
Who’s your favorite CC creator?
I'll take a historical approach to answering this, because there are many active creators whose work I love, but I also try to preserve the legacies of the original TS2 pioneers. Here are 5:
Numenor - The Modfather. His mods did more to expand this game than just about anyone in the heyday of TS2. If you are reading this, you know who Numenor is. Need I say more? Windkeeper - Probably the best Maxis Match CC of the old era. Her stuff holds up remarkably well. en7en - aka "That Pagoda Guy." Yeah, he's the CFE genius who made the Eiffel Tower and disappeared way too soon. A huge inspiration on my old build style. Ehaught58 - one of the great builders across many different Sims eras. I need to upload some of his old TS2 lots. I wish I could still access his Exchange page because it was a treasure trove. His lots were often huge and unfriendly to old machines but would be fine now. A very recognizable build style (dark woods, earth tones). Daihtnaoz7 - If he did nothing but discover CFE he'd still be a legend. But he also wrote the single bridge, double bridge, and atrium tutorials, demonstrating how to best take advantage of this new cheat. A literal gamechanger. I paid tribute to him here.
Honorable mentions: Cyclonesue (TSR), Hatshepsut (TSR), Tiko (TSR), PiaNouka (Exchange), GoddessByline (Exchange), Wintermuteai1, Minideidad (Exchange), Cireking213 (Exchange, still around as CK213 for TS3 and TS4).
How long have you had Simblr?
I think I made this in Spring 2020. Right as COVID was shutting everything down, I found myself playing TS2 a lot more and eventually discovered Simblr. The old, big sites are either shells of their former selves (MTS), or don't allow TS2 content anymore (TSR), so I figured if I wanted to be active in the TS2 community nearly 20 after the game came out, I had to be on Tumblr.
How do you edit your pictures?
I have a Photoshop action that crops, brightens, and sharpens, and somehow pictures still take me way too long.
What expansion/gamepack is your favorite?
Answering for the first 3 games (as I haven't played TS4)
TS1 - Makin Magic! A perfect final EP for the first game. Though Unleashed was probably my very first EP. TS2 - University (I'm in the minority here, but it's so much fun when you have big dorms or chaotic houses). Seasons is #2 TS3 - Late Night. Bridgeport is gorgeous and the new lot styles were fun and I wish they could be ported in TS2.
Tagging: @katatty @lilakartoffelbrei and @bayoubashsims if you haven't gone yet!

Here we go with Jeanette’s iconic looks. Love her mismatched socks. Can’t wait for that detail to come up in the fic.
The first outfit she’s shown in is from Chapter 26 and she wears it on and off throughout the rest of the fic. It’s meant to be a 60s flower child style look.
The second outfit I’m not sure if she’s worn yet, but it’s coming up in the next chapters somewhere. It’s half inspired by her 80s self and half inspired by her 2015 self.
And the final outfit becomes one she wears a lot. But she might not wear the sweatervest until story number 9. Currently she has the purple sweatshirt and the jeans with the embroidered flowers and butterflies on them.
Speaking of butterflies, her butterfly necklace is a comfort item and a fidget thing. She got it from a shop that sells crystals and insists it helps spread positive vibes.
