It is wild tho, I’ve managed to parlay the one who was willing to let me reach under the couch to sritch him into full on belly rubs in three days, while the one who didn’t still trusts me no more.

#Jareth: Leonine Titan is what they call me #No hang on #That's a different thing #They did call me Jareth Cat Giant for a while kinda a s joke on that #The point is I'm good with cats and know how to pet them which is largely letting them take charge of the process #But also chins cheeks and forehead are spots most cats like because rubbing their face on things spreads pheramones #so evolution has pressure towards cats who like to rub their faces on things #Anyhow the other one will love me too but part of being good with cats is giving them their time and space to do that #But also I figure if I keep being friends with his brother that Coralon's gonna come around on me #Word gets around #He won't want to be left out of the purring forever

Tournament of Champions qualifying round

Hey! After a hiatus, we are BACK with a new project.

After including Commander Legends, there are 1,076 Legendary Creatures in Magic (including silver border and so on). Over the next six months, the Magic community is invited to vote for their favourites in a knockout tournament until only ONE remains!

The votes will be broken up into manageable batches each day. But the first order of business: We need to have a power of 2 for a perfect single elimination contest, and we’re a little over. So 104 of those Legends have to earn their place via a qualifying round. The cards and matchups were chosen at random.

Those 26 cards mapped out look like this

Every stat is positively correlated, with very similar slopes (between 0.7 and 0.8).

What’s interesting is that I assumed the power curve would be directly on the slope-1 diagonal, when it’s actually slightly below. Hell, the cost/attack stat has it as an upper bound; no card is more powerful than it is expensive, something I’ll have to take note of in my game.

Cost/defense trends identically to cost/attack, but with more variance on the case-to-case basis; everything averages out to the same trend line, but can be much higher or much lower than the curve.

For attack/defense, the stats lie above the curve for lower values, and below the curve for higher values. When defense is high, attack is low; when defense is low, attack is high. They’re inversely proportional, while trending upwards all the while. There were several creatures with 0 power just meant to be tanks, absorbing damage without dishing any out,

These cards all came from much older sets then what’s currently available, ranging as far back as 2013 and only as recent as 2018; it’s interesting to see that despite the age difference, they still work well together to form a cohesive trend line instead of getting more complex as time goes on. It just goes to show that Magic is a very balanced game with a lot of thought put into its development.

Wizards of the Coast is a major corporate entity with decades of experience, employing countless designers and playtesters to ensure that everything functions together so that both new and experienced players can benefit from every piece of content. My game will be slapdash, held together with duct tape and prayer, almost certainly full of game breaking exploits I hadn’t even considered.

This is gonna be fun!

Part of me wants to make it simpler, but most of me wants to go big or go home. Make it complex, give it lots of room to bug out, lots of avenues for rules lawyering. I want my players to be able to say “well, technically,” and pull off amazing but unintended feats.

My game is based on the 50 United States, and nothing is more American than winning on a technicality. This is an instance of art imitating life.

Fav creature type?

I think my fav creature type is Cats, like something honestly wonderful about em from equipment voltron to token overflow it is just a really cool tribe. I cant tell you how excited I was when pulling Brimaz, he is such a great card and one of my favorite legends of all time. My first favorite card as a kid was Jareth Leonine Titan, and had a deck that featured Sabertooth Nishoba, and Phantom Nishoba. Im pretty sure at this point yall can guess I started as a Tammy when playing magic ;D

runner up would be sea critters in general so Octopus, Sea Serpent, Krakens and Leviathan
