Hello I tried to translate the prologue voice drama tracks of JAMROCK (Music Project) and I’ll share them one by one. The wiki fandom page for it is on the way so I hope JAMROCK will reach more fans ✨✨
Here are the links to the drama track on youtube and spotify. The prologue tracks’ video on youtube is really fun so I’d reccommend watching it
Translation of [Prologue: TRACK01] on below:
[Prologue: TRACK01]
One: Ah, ah~, …. AHEM!! Yo people~! Are you REGGAEing alright?
Yknow today… After eating chicken in morning, somehow, I got a stomachache…
Aah, right, and also, as Oneness organizing, it looks like we’ll be making a country-wide Reggae audition. YA~Y! HAHAHAHA!
If you like Reggae, anyone is welcomed~ If you win the audition, we’ll give you money and the right to make your CD debut.
I'll listen to whatever you say. Hehe.
Listen to the detailed rules by Oneness’ members. I also dunno much anyway.
GYAHAHA!
Well, lately skillful newcomers are being noisy so, I thought I might discover some youngsters~ Somethin like that?
Aah but,  FREEDOM ・LOVE ・ PEACE are Oneness’ motto so, get along and have fun ok?
And lastly, this tournament’s name is Ragga Clash! Sounds fun right?
So! ♪ I’m waiting for everyone’s submissions, ok~ Peace out~
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sai: Aah, One Paisen… You really did it~
Lyrii: It’s not like stuff like this started just now y’know.
Sai: That’s right but I think this one was a large-scale one.
Queen: Hey, One! What was that broadcast just now!?
Sai: Hi~ Queen ♡ I knew you’d come
Queen: Ah, Sai, Lyrii… It’s just you two? What about One?
Lyrii: Who knows
Queen: Don’t say ‘who knows’, wasn’t the broadcast just now from this room….
Ah—, recording huh
Sai: Exactly like that
Queen: Haa… Really, always getting swayed around by that guy.
Sai: I love that guy though, so I’ll forgive him whatever he does ♡
Queen: You’re the same as usual. You’re forgiving him everytime.
That broadcast reached all the people in nation y’know! We can’t withdrawn from it.
…Gosh, and he did it without consulting us, Oneness, too...
Lyrii: I think it’s a good thing. Might see some fun stuff.
Sai: Oh, unlike Queen, Lyrii-chan is interested?
Lyrii: I’ve been bored lately you see
Queen: Lyrii~, because you support him like this, One gets hyped up.
Lyrii: It’s not like I supported it. I’m only sticking around ‘cuz it looks fun. Don’t you always get hyped up in the end too
Queen: Hu~h?
Sai: Now, now. As One Paisen, I’m sure he’s thinking about a lot of stuff too.
About Babylon-Nova too, he also—
Queen: Hey, didn’t we say we wouldn’t talk about him!
Sai: Pardon me then. …*sigh* A lot changed since that time huh.
Queen: …And? Where’s One who said all that stuff and left?
Sai: He can’t be found in his official residence, is he playing hide and seek like usual?
Queen, Ririi, let’s go find hi—
Queen: I won’t go.
Lyrii: I pass.
Sai: You two are so boring…
Lyrii: Anyway, even if we don’t go out to search him, can’t you look at that thing like always?
Sai: Ah, GPS? Of course I checked it but you see… Here, this.
He left his phone and left~ Even if I put on a GPS, I can’t do anything if the he leaves the object in question, right.
I had added it on his accessories too but he took them all off.
Queen: … I was overlooking the phone, but you did something like that even to his accessories?
Sai:  Something like this, isn’t it the basis of stalking?
Queen: *sigh*… Lyrii, gimme one too
Lyrii: Here
Queen: Thanks
Queen: *sigh*
Sai: Hey, you guys. I’ll say it once but, this is a smoking prohibited area, ok?
Lyrii & Queen: Don’t care.
Sai: Eh~, I’m not saying anything wrong, right?
Aah someone please! Can’t anyone give me some love!?
Queen: Why don’t you find an apprentice or something from the audition?
Sai: Aah, Nice Idea! It’d be good if I found a good kid.
…Anyway. Well, there’s nothing we can do if we can’t find One Paisen. Since it started, we have to do it.
We can’t be careless, shall we start the preparations?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hideri: Visitors… aren’t coming……
GAHHHH!! WHYYYY!!
Even though I polish here to be sparkling-clean everyday, and rise the water temperature to highest!!
Regular Customer Old Man: What izzit? You’re not satisfied with only me!?
Hideri: It’s not like that! You’re coming here everyday gramps, and I’m super grateful! But….
Regular Customer Old Man: Well, those regular customers from the past all got their legs and foots weakened now, so they became unable to come even if they want to.
I’m the only one left.
Hideri: Gramps…
Regular Customer Old Man: *sigh* Tora Hot Spring in the days when you were little is really nostalgic
In those days, your grandpa was doing well, and there were many customers so it was lively here…
You used to sing a lot in the bath together with your friend…
Hideri: Aah… Stuff like that happened right?
Regular Customer Old Man: Yeah… Is your friend doing well?
Hideri: Hm? Ah—… I haven’t met up with him for a while, so I dunno.
Regular Customer Old Man: Is that so…
Hideri: Is he doing well I wonder, that Tama…
Regular Customer Old Man: *sobs*
Hideri: Huh? Wait, gramps are you cryin’!?
Regular Customer Old Man: *sob* I recalled a lot…
Hideri: Ehh…. Ah, should I wash your back?
Regular Customer Old Man: Hm… Please….
[One: Ah, ah~, …. AHEM!! Yo people!~ Are you REGGAEing alright?]
Hideri: Ah, what?
[One: Yknow today… After eating chicken in the morning, somehow, i got a stomachache…]
Hideri: So it’s the ruler’s management broadcast huh… Whatever
Regular Customer Old Man: Woah…! It’s One Paisen!? Th-Th-Th- That means I gotta go!!
Hideri: Eh….Wait a sec gramps! What about your back!?
Regular Customer Old Man: I’ll come back later~! Uii~~ I’m fired up~~!!
Hideri: Ha!? Where did your tears from just now go to! Before that, get on your clothes! Clothes I said! CLOTHES~~!
*One talking in background*
Hideri: *huff huff* Eh? Gramps already disappeared… Isn’t he too fast…
Anyway, the people of this country really love Oneness huh…
Is Reggae somethin’ that good? I don’t know that much…
[One: And lastly, this tournament’s name is Ragga Clash! Sounds fun right? So! I’m waiting for everyone’s submissions ok~ Peace out~ ]
*cheering sounds*
Hideri: E-Everyone is super fired up….A tournament will be done huh? Well, I don’t have any experience with Reggae so it doesn’t have anything to do with me.
More than Reggae, I think the bath-house is much better though….
It can make your fatigue disappear if you’re tired, can heal you, can warm up your body and heart…
Isn’t it the best?
I want to show a lot more people how good it is. I want to get back the cool old Tora Hot Spring like gramps said…
*sigh* Aah, can’t I make a use of this uprush since it’s a big chance… Making a bathing fee during the event for example…
For now, I gotta just check it out first
Hideri: Heh, info is already out as expected. It’s on top news?
I want Tora Hot Spring to liven up the world like this too— Wait, the one who wins until the end gets 10 Million donza as prize!?
Oi oi, if I got that much money in my hands, reconstruction Tora Hot Spring, no, rebuilding it wouldn’t be a dream!
I can’t be saying I’m inexperienced for this! I have to go!!
WOOOO, I’M ALL FIRED UPPPP!
WAIT AND SEE, 10 MILLION DONZA WILL BE WON BY ME, SENTORA HIDERI HERE--!!!!

BURYING THE NOT QUITE DEAD: A DISCO ELYSIUM FANFIC
My take on the events after the game featuring a multi-fic HarryKim slowburn. I'm also just a sucker for case fics. This is just a snippet from Chapter 1 but I actually have several chapters written. I'll be posting them on AO3 eventually but I'd like to run it by some beta readers first. Feel free to DM me if you're interested!
SHIVERS - As the sun begins to lower over Jamrock, the dome of an old silk mill shines like brass in the golden light. It's not difficult to see a time in which masses of workers filed in and out of its entrances, and the motor lorries lined up along its western wing to collect their wares. Miles upon miles of lustrous textiles to be shipped across oceans and isolas to glide across the skin and furnishings of those few who can afford it. The Revacholiere will never be one of those people.
The long and blocky building projects off of either side of the dome like a russet brick ladybird, splitting its chitinous hide and stretching its wings between half-demolished tenements and modern high rises alike. Its masonry tells tales of a time before the deathblow. A time when even the utilitarian still showed a thread of residual vanity in the form of granite steps, sharp stone arches, and molded concrete cornerstones. Original varve clay brick, brown like dried autumn leaves, sit in contrast to newer, coppery replacements, highlighting the scars of war and neglect in cracks, blotches and even an entire end of one wing. Always visible like a reality you can't unsee.
ESPRIT DE CORPS - It has been a Police Precinct longer now than it was ever a Silk Mill but its old purpose still lingers in the bones of its columns, trusses, and long abandoned smoke stacks.
INLAND EMPIRE - It’s all that you have left.
What’s to the North?
What’s to the South?
What’s to the East?
What’s to the West?
What’s inside this building?
Shudder and blink
YOU - What’s to the North?
SHIVERS - A peninsula. A district left abandoned by its surrounding infrastructure. Bombed out ruins and mountains of shipping crates slowly turning red. The harbor has been locked up tight since shots rang out in the square. Blood and heavy fuel oil paint an old mosaic red and hang in the air like a fog that dares to challenge the sunlight. Motor lorries still sit abandoned in the circle, where you left them. A bookstore is no better now than your last visit, and a hostel is now empty of guests minus a few lucky souls who now grieve their lost brothers in the Union booth.
INLAND EMPIRE - It was your home for the past week.
CONCEPTUALIZATION - It is your birthplace. Born of a drug and drink deluge, on a floor covered in a lifetime of mistakes.
YOU - And beyond that?
SHIVERS - An islet of crumbling concrete and steel. The wind whistles through water reeds and swathes of tiny white petals that push through the last spring snow. Ashes of a fire long gone out blow out into the sea to be swallowed like the memories of the cause that built it. Its only resident is gone now, taken away for medical treatment and for a prison sentence that will see him to his final days.
What’s to the North?
What’s to the South?
What’s to the East?
What’s to the West?
What’s inside this building?
Shudder and blink
YOU - What’s to the south?
SHIVERS - An apartment building. Mostly stone, though partially the ivy and wisteria that have done their part to claim it in an attempt to reach the heavens. They are a part of one another now; inseparable without either coming to ruin. Inside, a marriage has been strengthened thanks to an unusual discovery made by an unusual officer of the RCM. Husband and wife embrace as they look over the colorful image between them.
YOU - And beyond that?
SHIVERS - A wind whips down the long stretch of Boogie Street that barely contains the buildings and crowds on either side. Neon signs illuminate dark windows that are rattled by the music within. Lively chatter fills the air both inside and out. A young woman walks out with her lover in hand. She presses close to his side to fight against the chill of the spring air as her dark brunette curls whip about her face. The man flashes a charismatic smile and he pulls her in closer to lead her away to a shiny white lacquer motor carriage parked just off the main street. They each know something the other does not.
What’s to the North?
What’s to the south?
What’s to the East?
What’s to the West?
What’s inside this building?
Shudder and blink
YOU - What’s to the east?
SHIVERS - Seemingly endless blocks of brutalist apartment buildings that tower over the residences that survived the revolution 43 years ago. The whole district lies in a millennium old riverbed, leaving it forever in shadow of Jamrock to its west, the GRIH to its north, Grand Couron to its east. Grand Couron and the Old South district maintain their borders with two of La Delta’s canals.
INLAND EMPIRE - A mark of constant probability. Everyone of Revachol West is just one bad couple of weeks away from moving to the Eminent Domain or the Burnt Out Quarter.
SHIVERS - Across the water, a woman in a satin robe sits with her elderly dog, surrounded by shining white marble as she peers out her 11th story window. The glass leaves the evening in an emerald tint. She would have the Eminent Domain wiped from the face of the Earth if it meant sparing her view. The canal and a financial cushion are all that separates her from the proles.
And beyond that?
SHIVERS - La rivière Espérance and Revachol East
What’s to the North?
What’s to the South?
What’s to the East?
What’s to the West?
What’s inside this building?
Shudder and blink
YOU - What’s to the West?
SHIVERS - A home you will never see again. Trees and underbrush devoured the old hospital and surrounding buildings of the Pox long before you even had a chance to remember it. Stray vagrants find their way through the bombed out ruins, shuffling past abandoned wire bed frames and rusted carts of broken tare. There is nothing left to be found here but a little bit of shelter from the wind. But the Valley of Dogs lurks nearby and most know never to stay unless they’re entirely out of options. This place will likely never be safe again.
What’s to the North?
What’s to the South?
What’s to the East?
What’s to the West?
What’s in this building?
Shudder and blink
YOU - What’s in this building?
SHIVERS - As day begins to fade and the lights begin to slowly begin to blink on across the city, multi-story factory windows will slowly transition from the concealing darkness to exposing illumination of what is no longer the East Insulindic Textiles Company. The loading docs have now become the motor pool for the 41st Precinct of the Revachol Citizens Militia. An old Coupris 40 whirs past a vehicle of a similar model and one of a decidedly newer model as it turns into the garage for the evening. Both MCs it passed do not belong to the 41st.
Inside the building proper, a stern looking man in a well tailored uniform walks toward the elevator at a brisk pace. His left breast is heavily decorated in medals and ribbons. One from the Suzerain, three from the Commune, most from the Moralist International. He bears the weight of the whole city on his shoulders but he carries it with an air of pride and authority. He’s heard tell of some strange happenings and without seeing it for himself, he’s not sure he believes it.
Across the precinct, in the East wing, tucked into the far end of the first floor an eclectic group of men sit inside a dimly lit Lazareth. Three surround one in a way not too dissimilar from how the interviewee had been earlier in the day.
What’s to the North?
What’s to the South?
What’s to the East?
What’s to the West?
What’s in this building?
Shudder and blink
YOU - A violent shudder passes down your spine and you find yourself suddenly aware that you have been staring off into the ether for about 3 minutes. You are one with your body once more.
PRECINCT 41 - The Lazareth Office of Dr. Nix Gottlieb is small despite the size of the precinct that it maintains. Cabinets and shelves line just about every surface in some manner or capacity. And each and every surface was crammed packed with medical supplies, specimens, and piles upon piles of folders and textbooks. There isn’t much space to move, let alone work. The center of the room is dominated by a surgical table that is currently sporting a flimsy pad that serves as a cushion for your injured ass.
INLAND EMPIRE - This is the closest thing to private healthcare you’ve seen in years.
PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT - Your bullet riddled leg has already been looked over. You’d managed to pull your stitches and partially reopen the injury during your little jaunt about Martinaise and the islet.
PAIN THRESHOLD - You wish you’d been unconscious like the first time you got sewn up. Gottlieb is quick and efficient but he’s merciless in the empathy department. In other words, you cried. And your leg still hurts like a bitch.
EMPATHY - Kim radiated pride and relief behind his subdued expression when the doctor had complimented his work.
ESPRIT DE CORPS - [legendary: failure] He’s just glad it wasn’t worse.
NIX GOTTLIEB - The doctor is a bespeckled elderly man, dressed in civilian clothes, a dark, woven turtle neck covered by a brown blazer that stopped fitting him in the shoulders about 10 years ago. His forehead and brow are permanently creased by stress and a deep look of concentration. His brow deepens when you shake yourself out of the thought. “Welcome back, Detective.”
RHETORIC - That was sarcasm. He doesn’t care.
PERCEPTION [smell] - On his breath, mingled with the scent of Tioumoutiri cigarettes, you catch a whiff of peppermint schnapps.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY - If we play our cards right, maybe he’ll share a belt.
VOLITION - We’ve been clean this week. Don’t fuck this up now.
NIX GOTTLIEB - He scratches at his wispy white hair and beard as he speaks over his shoulder at two other men. “And how long would you say these episodes tend to last?”
KIM KITSURAGI - Your partner of the last seven days looks between you and the blue notebook in his hands, occasionally flipping through its pages. He still stands in his field attire; Orange nylon bomber jacket zipped up to his collar, white crew shirt hidden beneath it, brown aviation mechanic pants tucked neatly into his black boots, and his brown leather driving gloves.
KIM KITSURAGI - He thumbs over a couple of pages before answering, “Anywhere between a few seconds to several minutes. This… is one of his longer episodes.”
CONCEPTUALIZATION - Wait! Has he been taking notes on you?
LOGIC - [medium: Failure] Of course not. We’ve already established that this is his method of working through his thoughts. This is likely a method of recall for him.
TRANT HEIDELSTAM - A lean blonde man in a tailored suit looks over you from where he stands, with fascination glittering in his hazel eyes. You saw a similar light when you spoke with him in front of the defunct Feld R&D when he spoke of their pre-revolution efforts. He was also one of the only ones in the fishing village who stood up for you against your partners onslaught of insults.
ESPRIT DE CORPS - This man is a special consultant taken onto the Major Crimes Unit in C-Wing. His well-traveled knowledge and personable demeanor has lent itself invaluably to the task force.
AUTHORITY - /Your/ task force.
INLAND EMPIRE - Not anymore. You’ll be lucky if they’ll even let you back into the field as a patrol officer, given the circumstances.
TRANT HEIDELSTAM - “And what do you experience during these… lapses, Harry?”
HALF LIGHT - Don’t. This is a trap.
[RHETORIC - challenging] Explain the skill set
+1 Kim is here -1 Butcher doctor -1 This sounds insane
[VOLITION: legendary] “The city speaks to me sometimes.”
+1 Revelation in the church +1 She loves you -1 This sounds insane
[DRAMA - godly] Convince them your thoughts are normal (lie)
-1 Kim is here -1 Butcher doctor -1 You’re already insane
“A real shit show of internal monologue that drowns out the world around me.” [continue]
Really? Anything else?
YOU - Really? Anything else?
CONCEPTUALIZATION - Nope.
[RHETORIC - challenging] Explain the skill set
RHETORIC [challenging - Failure] What spills forth is a vomited spew of half finished sentences, aborted gestures, and some words you’re pretty sure you’re misusing. You throw in some apologies and self-depreciation for good measure like a dog half-heartedly trying to bury its own shit.
NIX GOTTLIEB - “Try again. But in Vacholian this time.” His arms cross and his fingers drum impatiently on his bicep.
[RHETORIC - challenging] Explain the skill set
[VOLITION - legendary] “The city speaks to me sometimes.”
+1 Revelation in the church +1 She loves you -3 This sounds insane
[DRAMA - godly] Convince them your thoughts are normal (lie)
-1 Kim is here -1 Butcher doctor -3 You’re already insane
“A real shit show of internal monologue that drowns out the world around me.” [continue]
Really? Anything else?
YOU - “Just a real shit show of an internal monologue that drowns out the world around me.”
KIM KITSURAGI - “It’s inconvenient at times, but he often comes through with concepts and ideas I never would have considered. Unorthodox as it may be, it was invaluable to the investigation.”
DRAMA - [Medium: Success] He means it, sire.
EMPATHY - He’s concerned about your well being, but he also doesn’t want to see you misrepresented in the eyes of these men.
+1 Morale

Tumblr media
More tribalistic markings -- this post is covered in little humanoids.
A pole screwed into the ice keeps the tent erect.
Trash from some unending party.
Tumblr media
PILE OF ETERNITE - A pane of eternite has been planted into the snow. Two poles are holding it up.
INTERFACING [Easy: Success] - *Barely* holding it up. It could fall over any minute... a stronger gust of wind might be enough.
"What is this?"
Push the eternite over.
[Leave it as is.]
KIM KITSURAGI - "It looks like a makeshift bridge." The lieutenant adjusts his collar against a cool breeze. "Could be convenient."
2. Push the eternite over.
PILE OF ETERNITE - The pane falls into the icy snow with a soft thunk.
That's going to save us like 10 seconds of walking, but sure.
Tumblr media
This is someone's home away from home. Just like yours.
Tumblr media
TENT FLAP - The tent is just tarpaulin fabric covering a pile of stuff. The flap is open. Inside, three young men -- all in forward-looking apparel reminiscent of the sticker on the padlock -- are listening to some new form of music. It's like nothing you've ever heard. One of them looks at you.
Tumblr media
ANDRE - "C'mon! Get in and close the flap behind you! The warm stuff is getting out!"
AUTHORITY [Easy: Success] - It's safe to assume this is their leader. Or at least he thinks he is.
Squeeze in.
"No way." [Leave.]
ANDRE - "Sorry." He points his thumb at the lieutenant. "We barely have room for one."
KIM KITSURAGI - "You go ahead, I'm too old for this..."
ESPRIT DE CORPS [Easy: Success] - I'm actually not, he thinks. I just dislike delinquents.
KIM KITSURAGI - "I'm sure you will feel right at home. I'll keep watch." He gestures for you to squeeze in.
TENT FLAP - You leave the lieutenant outside and squeeze in.
Tumblr media
Smells like sweat and laundry detergent. Plus a trace of ether.
Tumblr media
A pile of nasal sprays. Brand name: "Nosaphed Ultra."
Tumblr media
Canisters filled with what appears to be water. The label says "Distilled."
Tumblr media
A speaker. The big kind they use for live music.
Tumblr media
ANDRE - You see a youngish man bleaching the tips of his hair with a toothbrush. He puts the toothbrush down and extends his hand in greeting.
"Hello, I'm Andre. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Shake his hand.
Don't shake it.
ANDRE - His grip is strong, sweaty, and warm. He's trying to project and inspire confidence.
"This is my posse: Noid...."
Tumblr media
NOID - The young man with earrings looks at you suspiciously.
ANDRE - "...and Egg Head."
Tumblr media
EGG HEAD - "Egg!" The tape player high above his head continues to blast what is probably *anodic* music.
ANDRE - "Together with Acele Berger -- who's out there right now, doing some *seriously* progressive sonic experimentation -- we like to think of ourselves as 'music venue organizers.'"
"Wait, how many music venues have you organized?"
"Why are you here?"
ANDRE - "We have many in the pipeline, officer."
2. "Why are you here?"
ANDRE - "You see, we've been all over Jamrock North, prospecting for real estate to establish a new venue in..."
EGG HEAD - "Also for talent!"
ANDRE - "Yes, thank you, Egg Head. And, while there is no shortage of raw, unfettered talent spinning tapes in Jamrock, we've had rotten luck with the real estate part."
NOID - "Place is a shithole."
ANDRE - "I apologize for my friend Noid's potty-mouth. *I* realize this is not how you speak to a police officer. He has authority issues."
"There's no need. The place is pretty bad."
"Next time, watch yourself."
"Was there something you wanted? Your friend Acele said there was a problem with the church."
ANDRE - "Oh, so you've met her? Good, good." He nods.
EMPATHY [Formidable: Success] - He's not as glad as he would like you to think. There is concern in his voice.
ANDRE - "Yeah -- it's a matter of occupied ecclesiastical property. I bet you've noticed the derelict hive of *narcomania* on the coast?"
VOLITION [Easy: Success] - An attempt to pander to your perceived conservative sensibilities. No person his age would ever use a word like *narcomania* with a straight face. Don't fall for it!
"Enough histrionics. What are you talking about?"
ANDRE - "I'm talking about the church. And I'm not exaggerating! Even a place of spiritual refuge can become a magnet for all sorts of *dopeheads* and *burnouts* if left unattended..."
EGG HEAD - "Dopeheads!"
NOID - "Burnouts!" He angrily spits on a screw, then starts cleaning it.
ANDRE - "Well, I'm sad to say, that's exactly what happened. Sad because we were just about to put Martinaise on the map with one of the maddest dance clubs in Jamrock -- no, strike that -- in Revachol..."
EGG HEAD - "Strike that -- the world!"
ANDRE - "And sadder yet because the dopeheads and burnouts holed up in there are *the worst* kind."
COMPOSURE [Easy: Success] - He leans back a little, watching you with a steady, serious gaze, letting you imagine just how bad those 'dopeheads' and 'burnouts' really are.
RHETORIC [Easy: Success] - Good. This calls for an *opinion*. You're an expert in those.
"I won't stand for narcomaniacs of any kind. No *narcomaniacs* on my watch." (Shake your head gravely.)
"I feel like you may be laying this on a bit thick. What's really so bad about these 'dopeheads' and 'burnouts'?"
ANDRE - "They're *spooky*."
"What exactly do you mean by *spooky*?"
"'Spookiness' is not a matter for police investigation."
ANDRE - "I was hoping you would be the judge of that, officer. All I can say is, their spookiness is the kind that keeps us from restoring this church into a community centre. And a place of spiritual refuge."
NOID - "Also, they don't heat or clean the building. Shit's gonna collapse."
EGG HEAD - "People just wanna spin tapes without them spookin' it up! Place has bad sines! No one can dance like that."
ANDRE - "Thank you, Egg Head..."
"So you're gonna look into it, right?" He turns to you. "It *should* be a police matter -- getting them out. Whatever spooky stuff they're doing, I'm sure it's not what the Ecclesiastes meant their property for."
"I'll look into it. Tell me more." (Get the task.)
"I'll make up my mind later. I have questions for you first." (Not now.)
"The police have more important things to do right now, kid." (Not now.)
Good news, kid. You're talking to the *premiere* member of the Remote Viewers Division. Of course we're looking into the spooky church.
ANDRE - "Alright, man!" He claps his hands enthusiastically.
New task: Help ravers start a nightclub
EMPATHY [Trivial: Success] - Andre is obviously very happy you took him seriously. The whole tent is. The boys exchange giddy looks.
Tumblr media
"Acele told me Noid put the padlock on the door. Why?"
"Who exactly are these people inside the church?"
"You mentioned some kind Ecclesiastes own the church. Who are these Ecclesiastes?"
"I wanted to ask you about this tent full of equipment."
"That's all for now." [Leave.]
ANDRE - "I did ask Noid to install a measure against more drifters wandering in. It's a temporary fix. Just something to contain the situation."
NOID - "I had to do it in a hurry. Not my best work... But it should hold for a while."
"I need the key."
"How long have those people been locked in there?"
"Right. Other questions." (Conclude.)
ANDRE - "Of course. Noid, give the officer the key."
NOID - "Alright." The speedfreak dips into his belt pack and produces a yellow key. He then makes a sudden, cool-infused move, tossing it in your general direction.
Tumblr media
[Reaction Speed - Medium 10] Be the Cool Cop. Catch the key as it flies toward you!
Let it fall to the ground, then pick it up. Like a normal adult person.
Tumblr media
REACTION SPEED [Medium: Failure] - It's as if time has frozen somehow. You think you can *sense* the key moving in the air. Yeah, this is gonna be *way* cool.
Don't ruin the cool by overdoing it. Raise your hand in front of your face with minimum effort.
REACTION SPEED - Blam! Straight in the eye. Straight in the old eye-orb. In *the lookin' ball*!

A stabbing pain. Tears stream uncontrollably from your right eye.
"Ouch! Goddamn asshole... what is WRONG with you?! Can't you see I'm in PAIN now?!"
NOID - "Man, I'm super sorry. That was totally my bad, I got overexcited. Threw them too hard. I'm sorry."
EMPATHY [Easy: Success] - He looks like he's genuinely sorry he didn't throw them better.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry…" (Bend your face in *mockery* of his useless contrition.) "You almost *eye-murdered* me -- a cop! That's use of LETHAL FORCE!"
NOID - "I really am sorry, man -- just take this, okay?" He pulls out some black paper from his belt-pack.
PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Easy: Success] - Wow! Looks like there's quite a lot there...

Singer, songwriter, musician, producer. Born on April 20, 1972, in Wilmington, Delaware. The second son of legendary reggae artist Bob Marley, Stephen Marley has been blazing his own trail in the music world, combining reggae, hip-hop, and R&B styles to create his sound as a performer, songwriter, and producer.
Marley was the third child born to Rita and Bob Marley. He has an older sister Cedella and an older brother David “Ziggy” as well as an older half-sister Sharon from his motherâ€s previous relationship. Not long after his birth, two refreshing half-brothers, Robert and Rohan, arrived from two of his fatherâ€s relationships outside of his marriage to Rita. His father had several a lot more children with other women, including Damian “Gong Jr.,” Julian, and Ky-Mani Marley. While his mother may not have been thrilled with the situation, all of the children knew each and every other well growing up.
With Sharon, Cedella, and Ziggy, he listed his initial song, “Children Playing in the Streets,” in 1979. Written by their father, the single addressed the horrible poverty that several children in Jamaica were living in. Royalties from the song were donated to the United Nations Childrenâ€s Fund.
After his fatherâ€s death in 1981, Marley performed with his older brother Ziggy at his funeral. The brothers went on to form the Melody Makers with Sharon and Cedella. While all four members provided the vocals, Stephen played the guitar as well and the drums. Performing as the Melody Makers, they released their next single, “What a Plot,” later in 1981.
In 1985, the Melody Makers released their first album, Play the Game Right. But it failed to catch on. Their next effort, Hey World! (1986), met a similar fate, though it did receive many positive reviews. Replacing names and record companies, the group became Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers and released Conscious Party (1988) with Virgin Records. The album aided the group break through to mainstream audiences. Produced by Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth of the Talking Heads, it incorporated ingredients of reggae, pop, and rock. The song “Tomorrow People” became popular with many listeners, and the album did well on both the pop and R&B/hip-hop charts in the United States. That year, the group brought home the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Recording.
With their next album, One Bright Day (1989), Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers had another critical success on their hands. They won the 1989 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Recording. But their record sales did not match their previous record. They made several more albums together in the 1990s, including the Grammy Award-winning Babylon Is Fallen (1997), before later disbanding.
Already an accomplished songwriter, Marley began to take on more behind-the-scenes projects. He created or co-produced albums for Damian Marley, including the 2001 critically acclaimed Halfway Tree and the 2005 smash hit Welcome to Jamrock. Both of which won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for their respective years.

401 1.1 Deconstruction. (Emmanuel Dultheo)
We were previously asked to create a mindmap diagram to evaluate and write down all the components in our brand. Here i’m going to break down and reflect on the different headlines given.
IMAGE & INDENTITY
I want to start by saying that I’ve always had a quite reserved personality which is one of the things people can easily observe when they meet me for the first time. As an artist in the past I  could say that it was very difficult over coming what i would call “Post upload anxiety”, which is basically not being confident enough to share your art with other people. This kind of explain why I wrote “Anti-Social Socialite” Which is a big part of my character, I take a big pleasure engaging, collaborating and discuss with people, but I may be perceived by people as anti social given that I act very “non chalantly” at times which may be very confusing or seen as a character flaw as a first impression. I have always been a little bit naive in the sense that I trusted things and words easily, as a kid I always looked at cartoon and anime character as almost a father figure like naruto, luffy, Ash, and Like i would see how they acted and they were similarities like they would be the strongest but they always had a team, they didn’t believe in the traditional ways of thinking, they were always humble and other qualities which all gave me confidence to be myself at all times and later find out that all these qualities also help a lot in real life and plays a big part when chasing success. As for my image I always liked the outliers in most fields like sport, music, tv. I think my image is a influenced by a lot of different cultures, like hip hop, London streets, Martinique’s streets, French, Black French, Skateboarding. A mix of different cultures which means for example back then I was a fan of skateboarding trainers, but I also liked the baggy jeans too or a nike tracksuit and Lacoste trainers. So the way I dress, talk, and act would be influenced by a series of different cultures.
CREATIVE OUTPUT
I put out my first video as Doranbeats on youtube in 2015, the year after 2016 I decided to make a beatstars account to start selling my beats online, It was working and still is but then i wanted to work closely with artist because most of my sales were coming from overseas, at the time I did not have that many contacts so I decided to record on my own beats and this is when I made the transition from producer to artist which means i can be creative in different format, I then named myself Doran, but I then changed it to N.AroD because I didn’t want those two brands to be associated together, but later down the line “N.AroD” was still too similar to the original producing brand so I went with 7M0R0, which is pronounced “Tomorrow” Because it is a powerful word that people use everyday, its easily pronounced if you can’t speak the language, the meaning of the word is very interesting and the spelling kind of make it stand out. It is spelled like that because of the era I grew up in as a teenager, we started seeing more and more brand names especially in music start with numbers or replacing letters with numbers which is kind of a trendy behaviour nowadays but will later be seen as one of the characteristics used to identify this era of the culture, knowing that I was going to develop the brand I wanted this kind of characteristics in the name of the brand so It will always be memorable and associated with this era of hip hop. After my first project I just kept releasing singles via soundcloud, to build a fan base and so people can observe diversity in my music.
INDUSTRY AWARENESS
Growing up I didn’t get much information about the Industry, after a lot of thinking and investigating, I came to the conclusion that no one would “come out of the blue” to sit me down and teach me about the industry, and thats when I did my research and surrounded myself with passionate people that I finally got insight on what is behind the curtain. One thing that also helped me a lot when trying to figure out the industry and how it works was watching top entertainers interview and dissecting them. It is a lot of valuable information such as, how to get paid, how to beat “creative blocks”, beneficial behaviours...etc. There are also a lot of podcasts/tutorials and things that tells you a lot about the industry, I watched those too but not as much as interviews, as some of those videos would be completely outdated advice.
EXPERIENCE
Spending the most part of my childhood living in my grand mother’s house in Martinique, helped me built character and taught me a lot about different human behaviours. It also gave me informations as to how to deal and talk to other women as i was living at the time with 3 or 4 women (mum, grand mother & aunties) and my grand father. Before this time period i was living in French Guiana for about 2 years, I really love it out there because it is a land in south America full of diverse cultures (Taki-Taki, Asian, Creole etc...). One of the reasons why i got along with people or managed to get accepted in certain circles without trying is because from a young age I been exposed to a multitude of different cultures, which helped develop my own personality and confidence from young. One of the most mind opening trip, I have had was back in 2007, when for a month and a half, my mother and me went to Switzerland. This was so shocking to me at 9 to be around kids from all around the globe and in this massive private school with crazy budgets. I was mind blown to know that there was so much things happening outside of my culture and even worse, that certain people weren’t even familiar with my country or my struggles. I think these different experience really helped me once i came to London as a teenager, not knowing the language, the culture and “the streets”, I’m saying that because I found out a lot of people from here accepted me for how weird i was even though they wouldn’t accept other people with the same interests as me sometimes. I didn’t know exactly what i was, or who i was but I understood I had to stand behind everything I was presenting to people from a young age. Whilst all this was happening I also learnt how to appreciate life and the value in it, because of numerous death in my family and around me. Which is one of the principles reflected by my brand, to value life which is different from “getting the most out of life” to me.
PRODUCT
The first piece of music I’ve ever owned was from a French singer/song writer  called Pascal Obispo, at the time it was my favourite music ever because of the instruments he was able to play, I also think this where part of my love for pianos come from, because I’d always watch him perform live on tv. Another important album for me was “welcome to jamrock” by Damian Marley, and also I had a lot of positive memories attached to this album. I was already listening to a lot of music from Jamaica (Dancehall, Reggae & Bashment) but what made me gravitate toward Damian was is non chalant energy, his look and how he was using is voice so meticulously in every single track on this project. Growing up I was also obsessed with video games especially games from animes such as naruto, one piece and pokemon, i already explained why i liked this so much earlier. What bred this love for animes, and cartoons all started because of DBZ mangas I used to read, I had tons of mangas in my room all the time.  With that said Nintendo and Playstation played a big roll in my life The brand logos were all around the house. My favourite games were, DBZ Budokai, Pokemon Red, green and platinum, GTA san andreas, Dragon quest, One piece and saint seiya. After awhile I started paying more attention to music and developing my taste in music, and it was kind of all over the place. My favourite project of all time is from Wiz Khalifa called “Taylor allderdice” everything about this project just seemed so coherent and holistically made. A group that had a big impact on my understanding of music was Green Dayz, I loved some of their tracks so much because it was never traditional rock, it just sounded amazing to me. And no one in my entourage at the time could understand why i gravitated towards this kind of music. Other project also influenced me later down the line, such as WATTBA, Better dayz Pt.2 (which i never knew about before 2013), Trapsoul, Rolling papers and DS2. Moving onto movies, they aren’t usually that memorable to me. I just have that 1 film that i hold above everything else, because i related to it so much and the writing, I just found amazing, This movie is called “17 years”.
MARKET AWARENESS
I became familiar with Hip Hop culture I’d say way later than my peers, and by becoming familiar I mean get a basic understanding of it. Due to my geographical position on earth, our culture was very much influenced by jamaican culture which as well as American Hip Hop culture, with trends such as graffiti, baggy clothes, nike and jordans. Anyone could come to my Island and pinpoint the different influences from hip hop culture, but growing up in the island not knowing the history of hip hop due to language barriers I always thought it all came from us and found it normal. I was never questioning why I’d wear certain things and brand because I didn’t know where it was coming from at all. With the advancement of technology I started understanding more and finally understood that i was part of the market if I was influenced by it. One thing that I started noticing as well was auto tune, and i first noticed it when Lil wayne first came out with his hit singles such as “a milli”. Jewellery is another thing that I realised was a big part of hip hop artists brand and at the time I just thought that every artist had to have jewellery because it has been pushed on the market for so long. With technology the music industry became more accessible to regular people, which i first observed when I realised that more and more people i knew or seen at some point in my life were later part of this industry, which also means that they were going to be more and more artists.
CLIENT/FAN BASE
I started putting products (Beats) out on YouTube to build a fan base and get my beats heard by potential clients, knowing that YouTube is one of the biggest online platforms. In the first year I managed to get 400+ subs so I carried on, then i was missing sales because i was missing emails, so I joined beatstars to sell my beats online without me having to email files at crazy times. Once I did that I wanted to expand my reach to IG,Facebook and  Soundcloud. So that’s exactly what I did, I created multiple account for doranbeats on different platforms and started uploading Doran’s content on them. As for my soundcloud audience 7M0R0 just kept dropping music at least once a month.
CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS
I’ve always had a good relationship with my clients, and never really had any complaints. Dealing with clients, contacts and potential clients I always show  respect and always make sure i’m attentive to what they have to say about my services and their demands. This way of carefully dealing with people always helped me meet even more people, because once a good first impression made people would in some cases recommend me to their friends or clients.
CONTEXTUAL UNDERSTANDING
My sound was influenced by a lot of different artist from different cultures. My French rap influence were, Booba, Lafouine, Soprano & Alpha 5.20. I gravitated towards them because the way they produced music was never seen before especially in the french rap culture. Zouk Music is a genre of music from Martinique which also was a big part of my understanding of rhythm and music in general. Jamaican singers were the closest to my own culture so I naturally gravitated towards Bashment, Reggae and Dancehall, with influences from Vybz Kartel, Popcaan and Mr. vegas, with other Caribbean artists such as Kalash and Eugene Mona (both from Martinique). My American hip hop influences come from 50Cent, Wiz Khalifa, Chief Keef, Lil Uzi Vert, Snoop Dogg, Famous Dex, Chris Brown. Not all of these artists influences my sound directly, but some played a big role influencing my brand on other levels such as “Image & Identity”. Other American Artist I felt inspired by was Rihanna, Jason Mraz, Neil diamonds, Al Green and Jamiroquai.

The links to the drama track on youtube and spotify are here
Translation of [Prologue: TRACK02] on below:
[Prologue: TRACK 02]
Ten: Pow! Pow! Oniisan, you heard the broadcast just now!?
[TN: He’s calling him oniisan because Tamausagi is older, not because they’re related]
Tamausagi: Haha, dear customer, don’t move around while I’m washing your hair please?
….Stand still you idiot
Ten: Ah? You said somethin’!?
Tamausagi: Ah no, nothing
Ten: Is that so? Anyway, ahhh this can’t be real… Vibes are getting great! Pow! Pow!
Tamausagi: Hahaha, if you move any more, you might get hot water on your face?
Ten: But how can I get calm! It’s a Reggae audition hosted by Oneness!? Actually, why are you so freaking calm!?
Tamausagi: After all, haven’t there been countless Reggae tournaments organized before.
I’ll be massaging like this, alright~
Ten: Ah~… But Oneness organizing is for the first time y’know~? That’s still somethin’ amazing! Even for me, it’s something pretty special
Tamausagi: Dear customer, you seem to be liking Oneness a lot
Ten: Liking... Nah, it’s RESPECT!
Oneness brought Reggae to this messed up country—I was shivering in that moment…! Weren’t you the same!?
Tamausagi: Well, at that time, I was still in primary school. I just thought “Oh cool”, I didn’t get that enthuasiatic. By the way, aren’t you around the same age as me?
Ten: Haha! Even so, I felt somethin’ inside as a kid! In my heart!
Tamausagi: Heh…
Ten: You don’t look interested~! By any chance, you haven’t felt Love & Peace with Reggae yet!?
Lemme show you then! With my song!!
Tamausagi: Ah no, I don’t need it.
Ten: Don’t say that~ I’ll sing a bit so listen ok? Ahem…
Ah but, somehow, did you increase your strength? Ah..OW OW OW! STOP STOP! MY HEAD IS GONNA BREAK!!
Tamausagi: Oops, I’m really sorry. I’m still not used to massaging
Ten: *sigh* C-Can’t be helped then! Okay Okay
Tamausagi: By the way, customer, you’re famous right? I once saw you getting introduced as  “Street reggae’s young prodigy, Hakumo Ten” on TV.
That feeling talking just now, you’ll participate in this tournament too right?
Ten: YEAH MAN!
Pheww~, so you really know about me? I’m getting embarrassed! Well, it’s like, who’s gonna join if not me, and people around me don’t leave me alone too yknow!
Tamausagi: Is that so… Actually, I’m thinking whether I should join too
Ten: Huh? Seriously!? Even though you looked like you didn’t have interest at all!?
Tamausagi: Having interest and participating in it are totally different stories right?
Ten: Aah, you might be right! However, winning even though you’re not interested, Ragga Clash isn’t that easy y’know?
Tamausagi: …Thanks for the advice
Ten: Haha, you’re interesting. Ha~h, got it, so it means you’ll be my rival huh! Meeting somewhere like this must be predestined! Nuh-uh~
Tamausagi: Then, I’m washing off the bubbles~
Ten: Gah!? Wait, it’s getting in my eyes!! The hot water!!
Tamausagi: That’s why I told you not to move~
Ten: Eh, I was standing still—
Tamausagi: Alright, alright, it’ll end soon
Ten: Yeah man…
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tamausagi:  — How does it feel like this?
Ten: Ohhhhh!! Wicked! It’s burnishing my dread!!
Man, you got great talent! And also such charisma! Allow me to call you by your name for the next time!
Tamausagi: Thank you so much. Then next time coming to the store, call me Tamausagi.
Ten: Usagi-chan huh~ What a cute name
Tamausagi: Don’t call me like that please.
Ten: Eh? It’s a no? Then, saying the first part, “Tama”! Haha, this time it’s like a cat!
Tamausagi: It’s even worse than “Usagi-chan”.
Ten: Eh~~
Tamausagi: Call me “Tamausagi” please.
Ten: Hmm, can’t help it then… Then, nice to meet you, “Tamausagi”!
Tamausagi: Yes, nice to meet you too. Then, about the bill—
Ten: UOOOHHH!! WHATTTTTT!?
Tamausagi: ! shut your mouth… Ahem, what happened?
Ten: Oi oi, it’s the worst! Look at my phone!
Tamausagi: tch, what the heck—
Ten: ONE PAISEN HAS DISAPPEARED, IT SAYS! IT’S THE RULER OF THE COUNTRY YKNOW!?
EVEN THOUGH RAGGA CLASH STARTING HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED RECENTLY
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN…?

JAMAICAN BASS ACCORDING TO.. G DUPPY
Head honcho of Raider Records, tipped as one of the best up-and-coming record labes of the moment, our boy G Duppy took some time to lay down this mix packed full of exclusives, forthcoming and fresh drops for your listening pleasure - We also managed to catch a few words from the man himself:
• Tell us a bit about your background in music?
I started djing in 1994. I was into jungle techno and would spend countless hours in my bedroom mixing the same records over and over. Skip forward around 20 years and I started making reggae mashups. Then around 2 years ago I started making my own tunes. I haven't had any training in music and can't play any instruments. I'm winging the music production big time but I'm learning fast and having lots of fun in the process.
Running the label raider records is a huge part of what I do and I'm investing a lot of time and effort into it. We have had a very strong run of releases and have lots of exciting releases in the pipeline. Watch this space.
• Highest moments of your career/music journey so far?
When most people think of G Duppy they think of my remixes / blends / mashups whatever you prefer to call them. A few of my blends went viral on Soundcloud & YouTube but were taken offline and my soundcloud accounts were banned for breach of copyright. I had two previous soundcloud profiles each with well over 1 million plays. I released a remix of blurred lines shortly after the original dropped and that was getting some serious stats online. Also I did a blend of Ed Sheeran's thinking out loud on the sixth street riddim. That was covered and copied many times. People were bootlegging my bottleg. That's a good sign.
• How’s the ‘Jamaican Bass’ scene in your city/country and how do you see it pushing forward?
The U.K. Is definitely a hot spot for Jamaican Bass with many of the MCs from / living here. I think the scene is thriving and ever growing. Boomtown festival is a good example of how big the scene in the uk is. Even modern pop music has many elements of dancehall and reggae in it. I'm from the south west of the UK in Cornwall and the scene down here is very small but there is some great local talent such as konquering soundz, No ice cream sound, Titan sound and not forgetting backbeat sound system.
• Any future projects/events we should know about?
Release wise I have a collaboration with Fleck which is a remix of Taiwan MC's ‘Dem A Wonder’. The track is featured on this Jamaican Bass mix and is scheduled for a release soon. Fleck has been dropping it everywhere including his set at boomtown and said it's a real crowd pleaser. As part of the Raider Records crew, alongside Timbali & Rukus we did a night at The Attic in Bristol (UK) in August and it was a real fun night. We hope to do more shows at The Attic soon. Maybe make it an annual thing. I'm currently looking for DJ gigs so any promoters out there reading this if you like what you hear please give me a shout.
• Your all time top 5 tunes?
Bob Marley - Stir It Up Damian Marley - Welcome To Jamrock Jimmy cliff - Many Rivers To Cross Arrested Development - People Everyday Collie Buddz - Come around
• Favourite food and/or recipe?
This is a tricky one because I like lots of different foods, non of which I know the recipe of :-/. However I can share my own Spag-Bol recipe. Ingredients : Minced steak meat Onion Green peppper Mushrooms Ragu sauce (other brands are available) Spaghetti First fry the onions till golden brown. Add the mushrooms and peppers and fry to your preference. Push the contents to the outside of the pan and add the meat to the middle. Cook the meat until brown then mix in the onion, peppers and mushrooms. Turn to a low heat. Add the sauce and leave to simmer for 30 minutes. Thank me later. HAHA

5 Best Albums of July 2017
It seems like we’ve lost a musician every single month this year. This past month Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington passed away. Rest in peace and thank you for all your musical contributions. At the very tail end of June, we saw Jay Z had dropped a surprise album which made it on this month’s list. Good music was in no shortage of diversity as artists like Lana Del Rey, Nine Inch Nails, Borealism, Chronixx and Niia all released solid albums. However, only 5 can make the list.
These are TMG’s 5 best albums from this past month.
Jay Z – 4:44
(Album Of The Month)

After all the hype and rumors, Jay Z’s 4:44 didn’t disappoint in the slightest. In some ways, 4:44 is the complete anti-thesis to his last album, Magna Carta Holy Grail. Jay no longer attempts to chase sounds or make club bangers. Sean Carter doesn’t waste a single bar in this album, like an expert marksman, every shot he takes has a purpose. In his 21 year career, Jay Z has never released an album as personal or as vulnerable as 4:44. The entire album is produced by yet another veteran in the game, No I.D., who provides soulful backdrops with hard hitting drums. Jay hasn’t rapped over this much consistent production since The Black Album.
Of course some of the viral moments relate to his infidelity to Beyonce, “You almost went Eric Benet, let the baddest girl in the world get away”. Through out the albums there are plenty moments like this where Jay just lays it all out in a way where his honesty cuts through to make the track bleed. On Kill Jay Z, he airs out drama between him and Kanye West before checking him in a ways that only a big brother could. Even where Jay shows off his usual braggadocio swagger, it comes off more as giving financial advice rather than bragging about his riches.
More so, if you want even more insight on this album, Jay has given his fans personal footnotes regarding each song in order to add more layers to the album. It’s a great move by the veteran that connects his audience closer to his mentality after releasing music for over two decades. This is definite grown man rap and an album that takes repeated listens to be truly appreciated. Jay shows maturity, understanding and humanizes himself to his listeners in ways that he had never done before. In his 14th album, Jay proves that he still has plenty left in the tank.

Sheer Mag – Need To Feel Your Love
youtube
Sheer Mag has been getting a lot of love online even without a strong digital presence. Up until a few months ago, you could only listen and purchase their three EPs on their Bandcamp page, where they also sold limited vinyl copies of each. Need To Feel Your Love is their definitive debut LP and a great introduction for those new to Philly’s underground riff kings. Sheer Mag is a band that brings a mix of old school garage rock, punk and power pop. Every song is backed by the Kyle & Hart Seeley, brothers who commandeer the band’s memorable bass and guitar riffs such as the album’s lead single, Just Can’t Get Enough. From the get go, the band drives a power chords that can instantly make your head nod.
The backbone of this band is Tina Hallway, the raspy lead singer who cuts through the tracks with her shrieking vocal chords. Although I must admit that her voice might be too much for some, with this album she’s refined her style and the best she’s ever sounded. Halliday can voice riots and revolutions with a single verse delivered in her punk soul vocal chords. Her lyrics are loaded with social and political references from the Stonewall riots to the gerrymandering that goes on in elections. Need To Feel Your Love should get a lot more listens as the year goes along, and Sheer Mag is a band that is just beginning to hit it’s stride.

Tyler The Creator – Flower Boy
youtube
Even though on the surface to the average listener Tyler has always had a very juvenile approach to music, in reality he’s always been on a real personal tip. Whether he’s talking about his estranged father or anxiety he deals with on a day to day, on Flower Boy he tackles a much larger personal issue; his recently admitted homosexuality. There are a lot of celebrities which would use this as a crutch or gimmick, but the truth is Tyler does not fall to that. In fact, he estates his sexuality so matter-of-factly that it seems he’s just venting to his fans. Flower Boy as a whole seems like a therapy session that Tyler is more than relieved to let out all these emotions that must have been drowning him for some time. Garden Shed is the moment where he really expresses everything, and backed by Estelle the result is one of the smoothest tracks in Tyler’s catalogue.
As usual, Tyler handles all production himself and presents a drastic change from the distorted cluster fuck that was Cherry Bomb. In complete contrast, Flower Boy is Tyler’s most melodic project as he steps up his production chops massively. A majority of the album has a real hazy chilled out vibe, but the bass heavy bangers that start mosh pits in Odd Future concerts are still present. Who Dat Boy is clearly the hardest song on the album and it features A$AP Rocky who shares great chemistry once again with the OF leader. Whatever issues Tyler was dealing when composing Flower Boy enabled him to make his best work thus far and it’s a welcomed sign of growth from one of the most intriguing rap personas this generation.

Damian Marley – Stony Hill
youtube
It took Damian Marley twelve years to release a follow up to Welcome To Jamrock, and it arrived to little fanfare. I have no clue why because this album is as solid as they come. Stony Hill is a 18 tracks of reggae fusion with R&B and hip hop that’s easily enjoyable. Here We Go sets off the album with a trap influenced reggae track and Damien shows his toasting hasn’t missed a step. The DJ scratches during the chorus also set the track apart from the rest of the album. Damien’s topics are easily predictable but that doesn’t diminish the quality of the music. Damien is joined by his equally talented brother on Medication, the expected weed anthem of the album which I’ve had on repeat for several weeks. Slave Mill offers social commentary over a melodic hook, “Walking home a child gets killed/ Neighbors free to shoot at will.”
Production was largely handled by Damien himself and its as well arranged as you can expect. Rich guitars and brass adorn the album along with it’s bass heavy reggae drums. Living It Up is a great crossover record with a catchy hook worthy of chanting on a good day, and the whole album holds up to this standard. The youngest Marley once again delivers a great album to bang out during the summer time.

Terrace Martin Presents The Pollyseeds – Sounds Of Crenshaw
youtube
Terrace Martin keeps flying under the radar even after earning a Grammy nomination with last year’s Velvet Portraits. Martin has worked behind the scenes collaborating on tracks with stars like Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Robert Glasper, among others. Yet the extremely talented West Coast producer has yet to run out of tracks and delivers another dope product along with his new band, The Pollyseeds. Sounds Of Crenshaw blends Martin’s Jazzy nature along with G-Funk and R&B. The Pollyseeds collaborate with rapper Problem, under the alias Chachi, on two tracks including Intentions which finds him harmonizing his grimey voice along Pollyseed’s vocalist Rose Gold. The duet works in a unique way and it serves as one of the albums best moments.
Sound Of Crenshaw is mostly an instrumental album and The Pollyseeds chemistry is undeniable. Robert Glasper joins the band for a cover of Janet Jackson’s Funny How Time Flies, before The Pollyseeds once again take charge by themselves on Mama D/Leimert Park, a horn heavy track backed by a boom bap drum pattern. On the tracks where other singers join, such as Believe, their voices always blend into the background and let the instruments do the blunt of the talking. Terrace Martin is one of the best producers this decade, and Sounds Of Crenshaw is another winning entry in his ever expanding discography.

Robert Barisford "Bobby“ Brown (born February 5, 1969) is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer and actor. Brown started his career as one of the frontmen of the R&B and pop group New Edition, from its inception in 1978 until his forced exit from the group in 1985 following a period of misbehavior and rebellious behavior on his part. Starting a solo career, he became a hit success with his second album in 1988, Don’t Be Cruel, which spawned a number of hit singles including the self-penned "My Prerogative”, and the Grammy Award-winning “Every Little Step” which became his signature hit. Brown had a string of top ten hits on various Billboard charts between 1986 and 1993. Brown is noted as a pioneer of new jack swing, a fusion of R&B. He returned to the group for a reunion album and tour from 1996-1997, and has returned with all six members for another stint since 2005. From 1992 to 2007 Brown was married to the late American singer Whitney Houston (1963–2012), with whom he had a child, late Bobbi Kristina Brown (1993–2015). The couple starred in the reality show Being Bobby Brown. Early life Brown was born in Boston, Massachusetts as one of six children of Carole Elizabeth (née Williams), a substitute teacher, and Herbert James Brown, a construction worker. Brown grew up in Roxbury’s Orchard Park Projects. Brown’s first taste of being onstage occurred at age three when one of his childhood idols, James Brown, performed in Boston. This performance had sparked a dream of becoming a singer. Brown joined the church choir, where he recognized and developed his singing abilities. Music career New Edition New Edition was founded by 9-year-old Brown and childhood friends Michael Bivins, Ricky Bell, Travis Pettus, and Corey Rackley who all knew each other growing up in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston. However, Rackley left the group early and good friend Ralph Tresvant joined the group at the suggestion of Bell who sang with Tresvant as a duo. Brown was also familiar with Tresvant since they were kids. Travis Pettus would also leave the group and they became a quartet of Bell, Tresvant, Bivins, and Brown. In 1982, they became a quintet when their manager Brooke Payne insisted on bringing in his nephew Ronnie DeVoe, to complete the group. After performing in several talent shows in the Boston areas in 1982, they won a deal with Maurice Starr’s label and released their debut album, Candy Girl. The title track became an instant million-seller in which Brown sung co-lead alongside Bell and Tresvant. Brown’s first full lead vocal performance was on the New Edition ballad, “Jealous Girl”, which was a minor hit when it charted in 1983. The group became pop sensations with their self-titled sophomore release. The album included the crossover hits “Cool It Now” and “Mr. Telephone Man”, which Brown also co-led. Despite the group’s success, however, Brown felt the group was never rightfully paid the money they felt they had earned from their success, later saying “the most I saw from all the tours and all of the records we sold was $500 and a VCR.” Brown also allegedly grew jealous of the attention given to fellow New Edition member Ralph Tresvant and during some of their tour performances, would often step out of his position and perform out of turn, performing seductively and singing, which caused hiccups from the group’s management team. Brown was featured on two more New Edition albums before leaving the group in early 1986. Brown later said he felt that the group’s management treated them “like little slaves by people who were only interested in money and power, and not in the welfare of New Edition.” A little controversy arose over how Brown got kicked out. Some say Brown asked to be let out of New Edition but a VH-1 Behind the Music documentary on the group claimed Brown was voted out by the group via their management team, with the members, most prominently Tresvant and Bivins, against the decision. Solo career Following his exit, Brown signed a contract with his former group’s label, MCA, which had earlier promised Brown a solo deal if he had decided to leave New Edition and also signed with manager Steven Machat, who also worked with New Edition. The label released his debut album, King of Stage, in 1986. Brown had a number-one R&B hit with the ballad “Girlfriend”, but the album failed to perform well. Brown laid low for more than a year working on his follow-up album. With the help of Machat and an MCA representative, Louil Silas, Brown began working with some of the top R&B producers and songwriters including Babyface, Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Teddy Riley. The producers helped to compose what became Brown’s most successful solo album to date, Don’t Be Cruel. Released in 1988, the album launched five top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100 including the number-one single, the self-penned “My Prerogative”, which became, along with “Every Little Step” and the title track, signature hits for the performer. After topping both the pop and R&B charts, album sales eventually would reach twelve million copies worldwide making it the best-selling album of 1989. In February 1990, he won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for the album’s third single ″Every Little Step″. Don’t Be Cruel also garnered Brown two American Music Awards, a Soul Train Music Award and a People’s Choice Award. In 1989, Brown contributed two songs to the soundtrack of Ghostbusters II, and he also had a cameo role in the film. Leading off the soundtrack album, “On Our Own” became another top ten single for the singer, peaking at number two. The same year, a remix compilation, Dance! Ya Know It, was released and found fans in the United Kingdom, where Brown had a fan base and had major success. Brown ventured on a 120-day world tour to promote the Don’t Be Cruel project in 1988. The tour became a success with Brown’s former group New Edition sometimes opening for him. The tour lasted into spring 1991, but not without Brown gaining notoriety for simulating sexual acts onstage, which got him in trouble with the law. In 1990, Bobby performed Tap Into My Heart at the 1990 MTV Awards and Brown was supposed to release the album Mystical Magic but it was shelved for unknown reasons and never saw the light of day. In 1990, Brown was featured on the #1 hit “She Ain’t Worth It” by Glenn Medeiros making it his second #1 hit on the pop chart. Brown stayed busy and, in 1991, he collaborated with New Edition member and friend, Ralph Tresvant in the song “Stone Cold Gentleman”, which was a top 5 R&B hit and also hop on the remix to Babyface song “Tender Lover” that same year. Brown’s next album, Bobby, wouldn’t arrive until 1992. Released during the final days of the new jack swing era, an era that Brown had dominated, the album did become a success, selling more than 3 million copies and spawning several hits including “Humpin’ Around”, “Get Away” and “Good Enough”. However, the sales of Bobby didn’t match its predecessor. Some of that may have to do with Brown deciding not to continue his career as he was now married to his famous wife, Whitney Houston, who with Brown, contributed a UK hit with their duet, “Something in Common”, from the Bobby album. Brown would release his fourth solo album, Forever, in 1997. Due to lack of promotion and Brown’s desire to write and produce most of the tracks, the album tanked and the album’s only single, “Feeling Inside”, was not successful. Prior to the release of Forever, Brown had been in negotiations with rapper Tupac Shakur to sign with Shakur’s new label Makaveli Records or with the proposed label Death Row East. However, Shakur died before that could take place. Leaving MCA following Forever, Brown laid low for several years, re-emerging in 2001 on The Benzino Project, and in 2002, when he was featured in a duet with rapper Ja Rule on the song “Thug Lovin’”. Brown was signed to Murder Inc. Records, but Murder Inc. began dissolving, so Brown’s tenure with them was brief. In 2006, Brown appeared adding vocals to Damian Marley’s song “Beautiful” on Marley’s album, Welcome to Jamrock. In 2010, Brown was featured in a duet with singer Macy Gray on the song “Real Love” off Gray's The Sellout. Gray explained to Essence about the project, saying “actually he came to the studio, since he doesn’t live far, and knocked out his recording in two hours. We’re friends and his one-year-old son is my godson. His fiancée is one of my best friends in the whole world. I met Bobby a long time ago, but we really got to know each other through her.” On June 5, 2012, Brown released his fifth album, The Masterpiece. The album debuted at #41 on the R&B album chart. New Edition reunions Brown made his first reunited appearance with New Edition at the 1990 MTV Video Music Awards. Their performance later sparked the recording of Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Word to the Mutha!” in 1991; on which Brown, Ralph Tresvant and later NE member Johnny Gill were included. A full-fledged reunion occurred with the 1996 release of the album, Home Again. Brown contributed lead vocals on two hit singles, “Hit Me Off” and “You Don’t Have to Worry”. However, a subsequent 1997 tour to support the album led to problems between Brown and the other New Edition members. Brown later admitted that he was struggling with drug addiction and alcoholism during the tour. In 2005, at the BET 25th anniversary special, Brown again reunited with New Edition to a receptive audience. In 2008, Brown, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill then formed a splinter group, Heads of State, to compete with Bell Biv DeVoe. At the 2009 BET Awards, following the death of the group’s idol Michael Jackson, the six New Edition members again reunited to perform a medley of Jackson 5 hits in honor of Jackson. This sparked rumors of another full-fledged New Edition reunion, which was confirmed the following year. As of 2016, Brown and New Edition continue to perform together. Influences Bobby Brown’s musical influences spark from artists such as Rick James, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, and Prince. Brown can be heard emulating grunts and “Ow’s” made popular by James Brown as well as Michael Jackson. Film and television career Brown made his acting debut with a cameo appearance in the 1989 film, Ghostbusters II, playing the Mayor’s doorman. The following year, he appeared in the HBO kids show, Mother Goose Rock ‘n’ Rhyme playing all three characters of Three Blind Mice. In 1995, he made another guest appearance in the film, Panther, and had a major role in the Martin Lawrence film, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. Brown made other guest appearances in the films, Two Can Play That Game, Gang of Roses, Nora’s Hair Salon and Go for Broke. In 2005, Brown signed a deal with Bravo to overlook the direction of the reality series, Being Bobby Brown, but it was said that he had to convince producers that his then-wife Whitney Houston would appear on the show. Houston later told Oprah Winfrey that she agreed to do it because she “loved him” and “did whatever he asked because I was his wife.” The show lasted one season but received bad reviews in the duration of its run, leading to a fallout in both singers’ careers. The show ended in 2006 after Houston refused to appear in a second season of the show. The couple divorced soon after. In June 2007, Brown took part in the ITV television series “24 hours with…”, a chat show format as celebrity and interviewer spend an intense 24 hours locked in a room together. The show’s host, Jamie Campbell, asked Brown questions about his career and private life, and infamously joked about making “sexual moves” towards the singer. Brown was furious and threatened to beat Campbell up live on air. Brown’s later tenures in reality shows included appearances on Real Husbands of Hollywood, Celebrity Fit Club and Gone Country. Personal life Family and relationships Brown has seven children. His eldest, Landon, was born circa 1986 to Melika Williams. With girlfriend Kim Ward, whom he met circa 1980, he had daughter La'Princia (born 1989) and son Bobby Jr. (born c. 1992). Brown and Ward’s on-and-off 14-year relationship ended in 1991, after two-months-pregnant Ward found out Brown was engaged. Brown first met Whitney Houston at the Soul Train Music Awards in 1989. They began a close friendship after Houston invited 20-year-old Brown to her 26th birthday party in August 1989. Their friendship developed into a romance in 1991. In April 1992, Brown proposed marriage to Houston and the couple married at Houston’s estate on July 18, 1992. On March 4, 1993 their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown was born. Houston and Brown later collaborated on the hit single “Something in Common”, which included their daughter at the end of the video. Throughout their 14-year marriage, Houston and Brown went through periods of infidelity, domestic violence, and drug use. Their personal issues became comedy fodder for talk shows and sketch comedy shows, most notably MadTV, where they were satirized as abusive drug addicts. Aries Spears portrayed Brown as a jealous, verbally abusive former pop star who openly bristles at his wife’s (Debra Wilson) iconic reputation and popularity. In 2005, the couple participated in the reality show Being Bobby Brown, which scrutinized their personal life even more thoroughly. In September 2006, Houston filed for legal separation; the divorce was finalized on April 24, 2007, with Houston receiving custody of their then-14-year-old daughter. In 1995, Brown was with Steven Sealy when Sealy was targeted in a drive-by shooting. Sealy, the boyfriend of Brown’s sister, was killed and Brown was unharmed. The shooter John Tibbs took a plea agreement in 2001. On May 31, 2009 Brown had son Cassius with his partner of two years, manager Alicia Etheredge. Brown and Etheredge became engaged in May 2010, when Brown proposed during a performance at the Funk Fest in Jacksonville, Florida. The couple married in June 2012 in Hawaii and together have since added two daughters to the family. On July 9, 2015 Alicia Etheredge-Brown gave birth to Bodhi Jameson Rein Brown. The couple’s third child, daughter Hendrix Estelle Sheba Brown, was born on July 21, 2016. Brown’s parents, Carole and Herbert Brown, died within a year of each other, Carole in 2011 and Herbert “Pops” in January 2012. Following the death of his ex-wife Houston in February 2012, six days after his 43rd birthday, he struggled to perform at a New Edition show, shouting “I love you, Whitney” in tears. Brown then excused himself from the stage and New Edition canceled the remainder of the show. Brown was invited to appear at Houston’s memorial service in New Jersey but left before the service began. In an interview given to The Today Show in May 2012, Brown said security was the reason he and his family left Houston’s service; Brown stated that he loved Houston’s family and told Matt Lauer that he had spent “14 beautiful years” with Houston as his wife. He also denied rumors that he introduced Houston to narcotics. Along with Clive Davis, Ray J, and others, Brown has been accused of contributing to the singer’s death. In January 2015, Brown’s daughter with Houston, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was found unconscious in her bathtub at her residence in Roswell, Georgia. The 21-year-old was rushed into North Fulton Hospital where she was placed on a ventilator and was placed under a medically induced coma to stop the swelling of her brain. It was later reported her brain activity was “low”. Brown rushed to his daughter’s side and released a statement to the press requesting them to respect the family’s privacy. She was later transferred to Emory University Hospital. After no significant brain function doctors concluded it would be unlikely to occur, Bobbi Kristina was removed from the ventilator and put in the care of Hospice in Duluth, Georgia. She died there on July 26, 2015 at age 22. Mental illness, substance abuse and legal problems As a child, Brown was diagnosed with ADD and was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder in his early thirties. Brown said that his drug of choice was marijuana and that he had developed alcoholism at an early age. Following his marriage to Houston, Brown became heavily involved in drug use. By the mid-1990s, he was not only addicted to cocaine and crack, but also heroin, which he often smoked along with marijuana. He and Houston would often smoke cocaine-laced marijuana in blunts. Following his separation and later divorce from Houston, Brown stopped using cocaine, crack and heroin though he admitted he still drinks but not as much as he did in his younger years. During his tours, Brown would often be arrested and cited for lewd and lascivious content after simulating sex acts with random female audience members that he would bring onstage. Brown’s legal problems grew serious as he was arrested for several offenses over the years including drug possession, driving under the influence, and driving while intoxicated. In a now-infamous 1996 arrest while in Florida, during a high-speed police chase, he crashed his wife’s Mitsubishi, and would be later cited for resisting arrest after he yelled expletives at officers and allegedly performing public urination in the back of one of the squad cars. In late 2003, Brown was arrested for misdemeanor battery, allegedly for striking Houston while shouting epithets. In February 2004, Brown was arrested and jailed in Georgia on a parole violation related to a previous drunk driving conviction. In June 2004, Brown was sentenced to 90 days in prison for missing three months of child-support payments. That sentence was immediately suspended after Brown made back payments totaling about $15,000. On March 26, 2012, Brown was arrested for DUI after being pulled over for allegedly using a cell phone while driving. On August 14, 2012, Brown was undergoing treatment in rehab for alcohol addiction. On October 24, 2012, Bobby Brown was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol for the second time this year. On February 26, 2013, Bobby Brown plead no contest to suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was sentenced to a 55-day jail sentence and had until March 20, 2013 to report to Los Angeles County Jail. He was also ordered to attend three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings a week until he goes to jail and to complete an 18-month alcohol program as part of his probation. On March 21, 2013, Bobby Brown was released from jail after serving nine hours of his 56-day jail sentence.
