With his eyes trained on the end of the aisle, Jacob’s attention is captivated by the tunes of the song that was picked out. Anytime now, she’d be stepping out, and at that moment, Jacob’s life is going to change once again.
I came here looking for another excuse To run away from something beautiful It's like it's driving me closer to you Every step back pulls me right back to you
Walking into the bar, the boys take their regular tables in the back as jackets cover chairs. They play a few quick rounds of rock-paper-scissors to determine the designated driver and who was to pay for the first round of drinks. Once those people were designated, the group takes their seats and set in for a night of drinks and hanging out.
“What brings you out tonight?” Matthew asks, probing Jacob. “You don’t come out often.”
Jacob glances at Matthew for a second before he trains his attention on other guests walking around the bar.
Matthew was right; Jacob didn’t go out often. Although it was fun, he’d much rather spend the night at home on the couch watching a movie with a glass of wine or under the blankets with a good book. Recently, though, spending the nights in his apartment on his own was starting to get boring. There was no one there with him because, well, he was alone. Sure, Jacob liked being single and didn’t have any major issues with being single, but sometimes, only hearing his breathing or the only sounds in his apartment being the quiet local traffic drove him crazy. Jacob was craving some acquaintance or companionship other than his teammates that happened to stop by after practice.
What Jacob really wanted was someone to share his life with. He wanted someone to have and to hold. He wanted someone to be there when he left or when he got home (or to come home to him). He wanted someone to laugh at his silly jokes. He wanted someone’s laughter to echo through the apartment.
Jacob wanted a life partner.
All those thoughts swirled in Jacob’s mind as his focus trained back on Matthew. “Just wanted to try something new. You know, get out of the house. Broaden my social circle.”
“What, are we not enough for you?” Matthew teases, a glint in his eyes.
“You know what I mean,” Jacob responds, holding back an eye roll. Matthew opens his mouth to say something else, but thankfully, drinks were forcefully placed on the table, stopping Matthew from talking.
As conversations build up across the table, Jacob returns to his normal wallflower state. It wasn’t that anyone was leaving him out; he just wasn’t really in the mood. If Jacob was going to go out in this atmosphere, then he really had to be in the mood, and currently, he wasn’t in that mood. Jacob kind of regrets going out. All he wanted was a nice glass of wine, to sit on his couch, and relax. Maybe a movie on the TV, too. Just anything but here.
His eyes dart up when he notices everyone at the table has stopped talking. Jacob’s eyes follow their eye line and notice them starting at a group of girls that walked into the bar. Just like that, Jacob’s life changed forever.
She was standing there, fiddling with the hem of her shirt, as she let herself soak in the atmosphere.
Jacob’s eyes scanned over the top half of her body—the only half visible from where he was sitting. That’s when it all made sense. He finally knew the person that would complement his body and fit in the crevices perfectly. He finally knew the person that would never fail to put a smile on his face. He finally knew the person that would make the ridiculously cheesy sitcoms and rom-coms bearable. He finally knew the person that Jacob risk it all for. He found the person that he’d conquer the world for. He found the person that he’d give it all up for.
The world and Jacob were moving because they had to, but now, Jacob’s world was spinning the way it was supposed to. It finally made sense.
“Woah,” Matthew says under his breath. Woah, indeed, Jacob thinks to himself, knowing that Matthew was probably talking about the same person. Matthew looks at his friend and says, “What do you say? Should we go over together?”
Jacob doesn’t say anything. He just stares ahead at the girl. How was he supposed to talk to her? “I’ll go over in a bit.”
“Did you want me to make you an introduction?” Matthew asks, slightly teasing.
Jacob shakes his head. “I’ll be fine.”
That’s a lie. Jacob couldn’t do it. He knew he wouldn’t be able to do it. Who was he kidding? Jacob was frazzled and flustered, and he hadn’t even talked to the girl yet. What was he to do?
Jacob sat at the table, gripping his drink as he watches Matthew walk up to the group of girls. The entire group was filled with beautiful people. Matthew could have picked anyone, but he went with her, with you. When Jacob saw you smile at Matthew, his heart fell to his stomach. You were supposed to be smiling at Jacob. Jacob was supposed to be the one who elicited that smile from you. Jacob was supposed wrapped around your finger, not Matthew. Jacob was supposed to be enamored with your personality and aura, not Matthew.
It was supposed to be Jacob, not Matthew, but it ended up being Matthew because Jacob was too chicken. Jacob let the person who he knew would change his life slip through his fingers. He messed it up, and Jacob knows he’ll never be able to have the chance again.
How did Jacob let himself mess up so badly?
Time stands still and it's only us What we feel started way before we ever touched Just imagine only us Yeah, you found me right before I'd given up
It was four days later, and Jacob was still reeling from seeing you for the first time. How did Jacob find someone so perfect for him, yet he couldn’t even talk to them? How did Jacob find the person he’d feel immense pride and joy to bring home to meet his mother, yet they don’t even know he exists? How did Jacob finally find the person that makes all the love songs and poems and sonnets make sense, but he couldn’t even muster the courage to talk to them?
It was frustrating, to say the least.
Jacob has spent his entire adult life assuming that when he met the one, things would work out according to plan and in his favor. Jacob never thought that one of his teammates would feel the same pull that the person had and gravitate towards them first. Jacob thought he’d be able to talk to them, and then everything else would make sense and work out for itself.
How did everything get blown to pieces in a matter of seconds?
Oh, right, Jacob didn’t have the courage to talk to you, but Matthew did. Matthew always seemed to have the courage to talk to someone else. Normally, Jacob didn’t care, but then it was you that Matthew managed to talk to first. It was you, bright eyes and smile, who got Matthew’s attention instead of Jacob's. It was you, and he wished that he didn’t clam up and stand there, frozen. If he could do it all over again, he would.
“So, you got lucky last night. Again.” Jacob hears someone say to Matthew. Jacob rolls his eyes, not wanting to hear about another one of Matthew’s escapades.
“It was fun,” Matthew says, a smirk covering his face. He eyes Jacob knowing that Jacob wanted the same person. “I don’t normally hang out with the same girl more than once, but—”
A few hoots and hollers fill the locker room. That’s when Jacob realizes who Matthew is talking about—you. You captured Jacob’s attention like a fisherman setting his net out to sea. Your radiant smile lit up his life like a spotlight. You slowly became everything to Jacob, yet you’ve never even spoken to him.
Jacob doesn’t notice the sneaky glance that Matthew gives. Matthew knows exactly what he’s doing, but having no reaction out of Jacob isn’t what Matthew wanted.
“Jacob, any fun plans last night?”
That little shit.
“Nope,” Jacob grumbles. He hurries out onto the ice before anyone can comment on his mannerisms.
He’s skating around the ice to try to clear his thoughts. He doesn’t know why he’s acting like this. He hasn’t spoken to you. He’s only looked at you from across a bar. How’s that for depressing?
In movies, when it’s love at first sight, both parties fall in love. In this case, though, only Jacob fell. Only Jacob fell head over heels for you. Jacob doubts you even looked at him at all that evening.
Even if Jacob had a chance with you, he knows he could never take it. There was an unspoken code, and if Jacob tried anything, he’d be breaking that code.
For all intents and purposes, Jacob has to find a way to forget about you even though he knows you’re the one.
I just saw the lightning strike Knew it right then when I looked in your eyes And I said to myself, "It's no surprise we ain't strangers" Strangers tonight Must be from a different life Been here before and it just feels right No, this ain't the first time for you and I, we ain't strangers Strangers tonight
During warmups before a game, Jacob doesn’t normally scan the crowd. He gives a few quick glances to see if there are any young kids who he can give a stick or puck, and that’s it. Jacob tends to focus on warming up and leaves the crowd and that interaction for during the game.
This time, though, something was drawing him to scan the crowd. He doesn’t know what he’s looking for or why he’s so drawn to that one section.
As he’s skating around, Jacob’s eyes keep going to that one section of seats. Why is it striking him tonight? As per usual, it’s filled with fans. No one struck him out of the ordinary. That is until he saw a familiar head of hair. He knows that hair. It’s been plaguing his dreams and thoughts since that first night.
You.
You were there. At the game. A game that Jacob was at. A game where Jacob was currently getting ready for.
In a matter of seconds, seeing you knocked all of the wind out of him. He continues his motions, but as he looks over at you again (you have yet to notice his obvious staring), he trips and falls.
“You good man?” someone asks as they skate over to a fallen Jacob.
He nods. “Just lost my footing for a second.”
The player nods and skates off. Jacob’s grateful that they didn’t ask why Jacob fell. What was he supposed to say? Yeah, the girl that one of our teammates is dating or kind of seeing is here. Did she distract me? Yes. Why? Oh, because I’m in love with her, too. Why didn’t I go talk to her that night? She distracted me, and I couldn’t even open my mouth to breathe she was so captivating.
Jacob has to get a grip on his thoughts. This was no line of thinking to have before a game. It was an important game, and if Jacob wasn’t at the top of his game, he couldn’t protect his teammates, his family.
Still, though, Jacob is watching you from the corner of your eye. You must have brought a friend because you’re chatting and laughing away.
The minute that Jacob gets a glimpse at your smile, all the loud cheers and noises of the crowd fade away. There’s a faint ringing in his ears as he watches you laugh along to whatever your friend was saying. A faint smile crosses Jacob’s face and a blush warms his cheeks as he thinks of what it would be like to be the one on the other end of that smile. That laugh. Those warm eyes. His heart bursts just thinking about it. What would it be like for Jacob to make you smile? What would it be like for Jacob to make you laugh? What would it be like for Jacob to look into your eyes as you talked? What would it be like for Jacob to wake up to your smiling face each and every morning?
Jacob’s taking a few practice shots off his teammates, but the roaring sounds of the crowd still haven’t returned. He’s still in a daze, acting on autopilot, as the shots come at him. He’s able to stop many of them. He’s not acting dull, but he’s not as sharp as he could be. Jacob can’t tell if you being there is a good thing or a bad thing. Good thing? Jacob gets to see you. Bad thing? You’re distracting but a good distracting. Good thing? Jacob gets to see your smile.
Yeah, it was an overall good thing for you to be there.
When the time comes for the team to skate off the ice, Jacob tries to huddle around the back. This way, if he trips when he sees you, fewer teammates will tease him about it.
Jacob’s staring at you as the file of the ice. He so badly wants to catch your eye, but what would he do if he did? Would Jacob wink or smile? He could barely breathe and you were a couple of hundred feet away. Jacob has no game when it comes to you. You just make him too nervous.
He’s sitting on his spot in the locker room as the coaches are talking. Should Jacob be listening? Sure, but it wasn’t anything new. As long as Jacob showed up and played hockey, he’d be alright. His thoughts continued to wander to you. He should really get a grip on his thoughts. How would he be able to play the game properly if you were sitting there? Would he be able to get his head in the game?
Jacob’s still on autopilot as the team makes their way back on the ice for the anthem. He’s excited to see you again, even if you don’t see him.
His eyes look up to find your familiar face and head of hair, and when he does, his heart falls. A ringing sound echo through his ears as dread fills his stomach.
You’re wearing a Tkachuk jersey.
Jacob doesn’t know why he’s so upset at seeing you in a Tkachuk jersey. Obviously, Matthew would invite you to a game, and of course, you’d be wearing Matthew’s jersey. But Jacob wanted you to be there for him. Jacob wanted to be the reason why you were sitting in the arena.
He shakes his head. That wouldn’t happen. Of course, Matthew got the girl because what girl would ever want a guy who can’t even get the nerve to talk to her?
You say my name like it's been on your lips Familiar in ways I can't explain You got a heart that I know I can miss Hold me like that and pull me right back again
“Who’s that?” Jacob asks. He wasn’t familiar with who the girl was sitting at their table at dinner. She was pretty, but Jacob had no idea why she was there or who she was there with.
“What?” Elias asks, quizzical.
Jacob nods his head at the mystery girl. “Her.”
Elias shrugs. “I don’t know her name, but she’s here with Matthew.”
“But what about—” Jacob trails off. He doesn’t have to repeat your name. Elias knew. Johnny knew. Everyone in this whole damn universe knew that Jacob had feelings for you. There wasn’t a single person on this planet who could look at the way Jacob looked at you and say it was as “friends.” It was impossible.
Whenever Jacob saw you with Matthew, he pushed his feelings aside. After all, if Jacob being with you wasn’t how things were supposed to turn out, then he’d want you to be happy. And if that was Matthew, then Jacob guesses he could be okay with it even though Jacob would never let a sister or daughter of his anywhere new Matthew. Jacob knew Matthew’s tendencies to date and sleep around; Jacob doesn’t understand how Matthew doesn’t get lonely or doesn’t want to find that someone.
“I guess she wasn’t invited?” Elias answers, pulling Jacob out of his thoughts.
Why wouldn’t Matthew invite you? Jacob’s never seen you in fancy, cocktail outfits, but he just knows that you’d be the most stunning person in this room. If Jacob had brought you as his date, he knows that he wouldn’t ever be separated from you. You were just too radiant.
Jacob knew that Matthew wasn’t a commitment person. He tended to just have short flings here and there, but this was different. Matthew had the most spectacular person on this planet—someone who could make Jacob the happiest person ever—and he refused to see it. Matthew refused to see who was right there in front of him, and instead, he found solace in his bachelor tendencies.
“Yeah, but—” Jacob trails off once again in a matter of seconds. He doesn’t have to finish his sentence. Elias understood. The other team members understood. If Jacob had you, he’d never let you go. What he doesn’t understand, though, is why Matthew can’t see it? Matthew has the love of Jacob’s life right in front of them, yet he can’t see it. He can’t see the life he’s missing out on by messing around with other people.
“Why is he doing this to her?” Jacob mumbles, not sure if his friend heard. Elias did, though, and gives his friend a side-eye. What was Elias supposed to say? Matthew’s heart and mind were wired differently. While Jacob saw someone who’d make him happy for the rest of his life, Matthew saw the same person as short-term happiness. Matthew’s head was so far up his ass he didn’t realize what he had right in front of him.
“He’s going to hurt her so much,” Jacob mumbles once again. He shouldn’t be saying any of these sentiments out loud, but he needs someone to hear them. Jacob could stand watching you with his teammate (even if it were Matthew) if it meant that you’d find happiness and wouldn’t be heartbroken. What Jacob couldn’t stand was Matthew stringing you along. Matthew was giving you bread crumbs to keep you going back to him. No matter what, the little crumbs Matthew would give you would satisfy you. Jacob didn’t blame you; Matthew was a catch. You, though, could do so much better than Matthew and his ways. Jacob doesn’t think he deserves you either, but Jacob could be so much better to you than Matthew.
Although the notion hasn’t been addressed, everyone who knows Matthew knows that the girls he’s “seeing” don’t know that they aren’t the only ones. Some do realize that it’s not a forever thing with Matthew, but some don’t. They take the bread crumbs that Matthew has to offer and spin them into a fairytale romance. Jacob can’t blame them, though. Matthew is a charmer and is good at the game. Someone can go from being strangers to Matthew to thinking he’s the light of their life.
What about Jacob? He might not be as boisterous or cocky or there. He might tend to be more quiet and reserved, but that doesn’t mean Jacob doesn’t have as much to offer. That doesn’t mean that he can’t make someone happy. He can. Jacob can make someone so happy if he had the chance. He’s been waiting his entire life to find that person who would be the one that would change his life. He finally did, but instead of Jacob getting the girl, Matthew did. And when Matthew gets the girl, Jacob knows he won’t ever get the girl.
Jacob can give a whole loaf of bread, but instead, you take the breadcrumbs.
And Jacob knows that as you continue to take those breadcrumbs, your heart will get more and more vulnerable until Matthew shatters it.
Jacob only hopes that you won’t cut him out of your life when that happens.
Time stands still and it's only us What we feel started way before we ever touched Just imagine only us Yeah, you found me right before I'd given up
One day you were there, and the next you weren’t. One day, Jacob was calling you to see when you were free to watch that book-to-movie adaptation you were going on and on about, and the next Jacob can’t get a hold of you.
Jacob wasn’t shocked when Matthew brought another girl to the Gala, but he was disappointed. Every time that Matthew brought a different girl as his date to various events or nights out, Jacob prayed and begged a higher being that Matthew would see you. He would see how amazing you were, and how much he was missing out. Only Jacob saw that, though; Matthew never seemed to notice what he had right in front of him.
That could be the only reason why you weren’t picking up the phone. However, Jacob wasn’t at fault. It wasn’t Jacob’s fault that Matthew brought a different date and you were hurting because of it. All he wanted was to tell you that everything would be okay, but would it?
And then one day, you left. One day, you were there, and the next, you were in Toronto. You didn’t even tell Jacob. He had to find out from Annica and Elias. For being best friends, it wasn’t fair that you didn’t tell him. Jacob thought you’d tell each other everything, but then you left Calgary, never to return, and didn’t tell him. You didn’t have the heart to tell him. That, somehow, hurt worse than you blocking him and not picking up his calls.
Then, you called. You were in Toronto, only moving a few days ago. He was ignoring your calls for a few days, but then he couldn’t take it anymore. Every time he saw your phone number, his heart lurched. He couldn’t take it anymore, so he finally picked up the phone.
“Hello?”
But then you hung up. Jacob sighed. Maybe you weren’t ready. But then you called again. There was some yelling and some tears. Mostly, though, Jacob realized he wasn’t angry at you anymore. You talked to each other, and Jacob realized that all the love he has for you wouldn’t fade. With you in Toronto, maybe you’d finally realize how much Jacob loves you.
Two years after that first phone call, Jacob got the best news he’s ever received. You were back. You’re back in Calgary, and you want to see him. After discussing plans on when and where to meet up, he finally saw you. You were just as radiant and beautiful as the first day he met you.
And just like that, a happy routine followed just like before. You were there. He was there. And Jacob had his best friend back. And he was okay with that.
Until he told you. He was drunk, lonely, and wasn’t thinking straight. When you left him after his confession, his heart pooled and tears fell from his eyes. This time, he knows he lost you for good because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut.
But then you showed up at his door with your own admissions of love.
“I love you, Jacob Markstrom, and if you don’t listen to me and let me love you, I don’t know how I’m going to get through the next day,” you pleaded.
And with that, everything made sense. You loved Jacob, and he loved you.
Finally, it seemed, Jacob got the girl, and there wasn’t a greater feeling in the world.
I came here looking for another excuse To run away from something beautiful It's like it's driving me closer to you Every step back pulls me right back
The past few years of his life flashed behind his eyes as he watched you begin your descent down the aisle. The train of your dress flowed behind you as you took each step. Jacob knew you were stunning and beautiful. Seeing you, though, in the white dress didn’t level to how he’s seen you before.
When you were at the end of the aisle, Jacob took your hand in his and escorted you to where the officiant was standing.
He looks at you with a shy smile. It was just like the first Jacob saw you, but this time, he had the girl, and he was nervous because he had the opportunity to cement the seal. He was going to spend the rest of his life with the love of his life.
It may have been painful, but finally, Jacob got a happy ever after. And he got the girl, too.
Jacob went from being an absolute stranger to being your best friend to being the cause of your heartbreak to being the person you couldn’t spend the rest of your life without. It all made sense, and it was all worth it.
I just saw the lightning strike Knew it right then when I looked in your eyes And I said to myself, "It's no surprise we ain't strangers" Strangers tonight Must be from a different life Been here before and it just feels right No, this ain't the first time for you and I, we ain't strangers Strangers tonight

For your birthday prompts, 3 “You bet on us?” with Jacob Markstrom please.
Oooh this one was fun to write, mainly because I haven’t written for Marky in ages – I hope you enjoy it!
“You bet on us?”
Words: 898
*
“We’re going to have to tell them eventually, you know.”
You turned your head on the pillow to look at your boyfriend, huffing out a laugh.
“Yeah I know. Hasn’t it been nice not having everyone up in our business though?” you mused.
Jacob just laughed, nodding his agreement. The two of you had fallen into each other’s beds almost immediately when he’d first been traded to Calgary, your friendship with Elias Lindholm’s girlfriend Annika looping you into the same circles, especially when Jacob was still living with them. As time had gone on though, friends with benefits had shifted into something more, a solid serious relationship, but you’d both agreed to keep things quiet, mostly because you’d already seen how nosy and involved his team and all your friends were with anyone’s new relationships, and you’d just wanted to keep it to yourself for the moment.
That ‘moment’ had shifted into 3 months, and still no-one knew. You never posted anything on social media about each other, you didn’t go to team events, you definitely didn’t show up together to friends gatherings, and you rarely did a date night out in public. Sure, some people might not like that, but for you, it felt nice having something that was just yours.
But it looked like Jacob had reached the end of his need for privacy. Intriguing.
“Any particular reason you’ve changed your mind?” you asked, propping your head up with your hand to look at him properly.
“I just…everyone gets to snuggle in public. I want to be able to do that with you,” he admitted, blush dusting his cheeks.
Oh that sweet, sweet man.
“Okay,” you said simply.
“Okay?” he repeated, eyes full of hope.
“Yeah, okay. I’m in, let’s go public,” you nodded.
The grin that spread over Jacob’s lips made you laugh, that laughter increasing as he all but launched himself at you, pressing a flurry of kisses to your neck.
Trying to figure out how to go public in the most low-key way was the hard part. Even though you’d both agreed that it was finally time after talking a little more about the whole situation, the last thing you wanted was to make a big song and dance about things. That just wasn’t you, and it certainly wasn’t him either.
Eventually, you both decided to just show up holding hands to a dinner Elias and Annika were hosting at their house. That was as minimal fuss as you could think of – anything else could come later.
So when the evening came, Jacob squeezing your hand for reassurance while you waited for the door to open, you couldn’t deny that you were nervous. Not bad nervous per say, but there was still that element of the unknown. Would they be mad that you hadn’t told them? At least not for long when they saw how happy you were, right?
“You made it!”
Elias’s loud voice greeted you, breaking you out of your thoughts, and you found yourself smiling as he did a double take.
“Annika! They finally showed up together!” he called over his shoulder.
What.
“About time!” Annika said happily as she appeared next to him, “You owe me so much money babe.”
What?!
You looked up at Jacob, who looked just as confused as you were. Well that was something at least.
“You bet on us?” you asked, confused.
“Honey, we all did,” Annika mused.
Well damn.
We all did. That was ominous.
The two of you walked into their house, Elias shutting the door behind you, but your head was still whirling as Annika took your coats. They all knew? Or, they’d all guessed? What the hell?
“Who bet what?” Jacob asked, when the four of you finally in the kitchen.
You batted at his arm, making him laugh.
“What? I want to know what they were thinking about us,” he shrugged, earning laughter from your friends.
You huffed out a laugh, but smiled as he lifted your joint hands to press a kiss to your knuckles, Annika just cooing at the sweet display.
“There’s like a dozen of us involved in the main bet now, I won’t lie…”
Well, fuck. That was way more than you’d thought.
“…and everything ranged from if you were just sleeping together or secretly crushing on each other or actually properly dating, including when admissions were made and who told who first. I have a spreadsheet and everything. And of course us two had our own bet.”
“Oh you guys are the worst!” you groaned.
You could guess at least a few of the people involved, knowing how busybody they all were, but the full scale of it still blew your mind a little.
But at least they weren’t mad?
“I guess you’ll need details to make sure the winnings go out properly, hm?” Jacob said simply.
“You are far too nonchalant,” you sighed.
“I’m just happy I get to show off how happy I am,” Jacob shrugged, smiling down at you, “I liked keeping things private, don’t get me wrong, but it was time.”
Well how could you argue with that?
“So, details?” Elias grinned.
Jacob just grinned back, Elias and Annika laughing, and you couldn’t help but laugh as well. Of all the reactions, this was the last thing you were expecting…but you also weren’t surprised in the slightest.
“Here’s what happened…”

Not a leafs fan, not an Auston fan, but very much a YOU fan :)
Thank you so much!
I have kept reading so many amazing authors because I love their writing, even if I don't like or sometimes know the player. I do have some other stuff in the works, a new Freddie fic, Jacob Markstrom and then some one-shots/imagines for a couple various players too that hopefully you will enjoy!

Tumblr media
You’re a runner.
Not in the traditional sense, no. You never ran track, never beat anyone in the hundred meter or any number of meters for that matter. Never tried out for cross country, don’t have a trophy or a medal.
But you’ve been running since you were fifteen. From your home life, from your friendship dramas, from your own destructive internal monologue, from every boy who has ever told you sweet little lies. Commitment isn’t something you’ve been good with. Expectations placed on you from a young age coupled with terrible coping mechanisms and declining mental health: only a few in the long list of reasons why settling down with the same person for the rest of your life is so terrifying.
And so you hadn’t - settled down, that is; throughout the years, you ran through men like mani-pedi nail colors. Giving them a glimpse of you, enough of you to entice them and bring them to your bed and sometimes even into your life for a time. But never had you let someone get in close enough to see who you really are, or even close enough for enough time to begin to scratch at the surface.
Until Jacob.
Until six foot whatever of handsome and kindness and pure, unadulterated joy steps off the plane in Calgary and right into your heart. As a good friend of Annica’s and with your parents on the other side of the country, you’re invited to join her and Elias and their new guest for Christmas celebrations. You don’t expect much more than amazing food and the familiar feeling of being the redundant third wheel of a fully functional bicycle. That’s the thing about Jacob, though, from the minute you met him until the very last you'd let yourself know him, he shattered every expectation you had.
Despite his own quiet nature and initial shyness, the two of you catch on like a house on fire - burning quickly and brightly, leaving Elias and Annica to feel like the outsider looking in on something special. You let him kiss you that first night and you don’t stop letting him. It’s laughter that lasts long enough that your sides hurt, silly grins and lingering touches, conversations that make you feel like you’ve known him your entire life and not a few short days. Christmas comes and goes and you leave that apartment with a beautiful bracelet from Annica and a new number in your phone with the promise of something more weighing heavily on your heart.
Jacob’s confident but never cocky, never so sure of himself that it comes at the expense of your feelings. He is nothing if not respectful of your boundaries, never pushing to a point that’s invasive, but not content to let you sit in your negative feelings when they come. It’s like a sixth sense, the way he comes around just when you need him to. There’s never a real formal conversation about the feelings that twist and twine between the two of you like the ribbon of the gifts you’d brought the Christmas you’d met. Yet you find yourself in his bed, and in his arms, and in his jersey waiting at the end of every home game all the same. It’s you he falls into and you he calls on the road and you who comes to mean more to him than he ever thought possible.
It’s also you who gets scared.
There is never a real formal conversation about your feelings but you find yourself in love with him all the same. All your life you’d run, keeping men at arm’s length and never an inch closer and yet here had come this beautiful Swede and shattered your walls alongside your expectations. From everything you’d ever known about love, everything you’d ever read or been told, love was supposed to be this beautiful, freeing, all-encompassing feeling. There’s nothing freeing about the panic in your chest as you take in the apartment you’ve all but moved into without a single discussion. There’s no freedom in your toothbrush alongside his, your shoes in the entryway, or your keys on the counter. Nor the books on the nightstand on your side of the bed that you still haven't gotten around to reading, or the flowers you’d dried and pressed between their pages.
He’s never actually asked you for something more, but you love him and there are pieces of you all over this apartment and it’s all too much. It’s all too much and so you do the only thing you’ve ever been good at.
You run.
It’s surprisingly easy to pack the pieces of you that litter the apartment. You’re as quick as you can be, knowing Jacob could return at any moment, but it’s not enough
“What are you doing?” His voice cuts through the silence and your own internal monologue that you’ve been struggling with for hours. It’s almost comical, because what other reason would you have for your suitcase open on his bed with everything you had ever brought into this apartment haphazardly shoved within. He must come to the conclusion on his own, because his next words are: “Please, stay.” It’s so honest, so earnest, it stops you right in your tracks. You don’t turn around, don’t really trust yourself to.
“Jacob-” It’s barely his name that escapes your lips, more of a wounded noise barely resembling the syllables.
“I don’t know what’s going on in that pretty little mind of yours but just stay and we can talk this through.” He sounds so sure, so confident in the words he speaks that you hesitate for a moment.
Because no man has ever fought for you like this, content to accept the pieces of you that you offered and moving along when you no longer offered them. You should have known that Jacob would be different, that he was different. No one had ever managed to get this close, even your closest friends were still kept inches from you. Only Jacob had infiltrated your defenses with a vigor and a covertness that you’d never seen it coming until he was firmly pressed against you.
“Talk to me, baby, please,” he all but begs. Every part of your brain screams at you to ignore the plea, to finish shoving your things inside that suitcase and go. But your heart, your traitorous heart that beats for him and him alone whispers to you, calls to you. What if? What if this time you don’t go. What if this time you open your heart and lay out your every insecurity for him to see and judge.
You’re a runner, but this time you hang up your running shoes and face life head on as you sit beside him on the large sectional and let him in.

Hey Christina! May I request a little winter blurb with Frederik Andersen or alternatively Jacob Markström with prompts #8 and or #44 please? I'm always cold and would gladly take either of these excellent Scandinavian sweethearts to keep me safe and warm. Thank you!
Tumblr media
Happy blurb weekend! I chose Jacob for this one and some violence sorry
i’m the friend who is constantly cold and you’re the friend who is constantly hot so you offer to snuggle with me when the power goes out
WC: 762
Warnings: Implications of sex, swearing
All of your friends were hanging out in Jacob’s apartment, one of the last nights he had free for his Christmas break before he left on the first of what seemed to be a never ending road trip and string of games between now and the season ending. You all tried to be together at least once a month or so to catch up on your lives. Not that any of you really had a very exciting going on in your lives other than being alive, but, hey, it was an excuse to hang out with people other than those you worked with.
“Jacob, it looks like it’s getting bad out,” Drew said, a worried expression covering her face. You all knew what she was getting at. She was the one who didn’t want to come in the first place because of the snow that was supposed to start falling soon, afraid of getting trapped in Jacob’s apartment for who knew how long because of the snow.
“Drew, we can go if you want to,” Alex tells her. “I can drive us back home if you need me to.
The two of them get into their conversation about driving back to their place, the rest of you just ignoring them and going back to drinking as you had been. They eventually leave, as the rest of your friends slowly file out behind them because of the weather. You really didn’t see the need to go, the roads weren’t that bad yet based on the way the cars were still speeding down the road below, and it wasn’t yet cold enough for the snow to even stick to the ground. The northerner in you didn’t think anything of it.
An hour later, it was you left with Jacob, Nadia and her boyfriend Noah. “Jacob,” Nadia starts, “It’s freezing in here.”
“You should probably turn up the temperature before the power goes out.”
“Oh, come on, the power isn’t going to go out,” he says, leaning back on the couch next to you. “Are you cold?” he asks you.
“Always,” Nadia answers for you.
“About as cold as Nadia’s heart,” you retort, a sly smile on your face, Nadia’s mouth hanging open while Jacob laughs, Noah trying not to in order to stray away from the wrath of his girlfriend.
“The power isn’t going to be out, don’t worry,” Jacob tries to say again, the lights flickering as he does so.
“We’re going,” Noah says, he and Nadia getting up from the other couch to clean up what they needed to before leaving.
“Oh, come on,” you try to argue. “If the power is going to go out, you should probably be inside when it happens. You guys won’t be able to get into your apartment complex if the power is out.”
The four of you sit and talk more, trying to ignore the flickering lights until the power finally goes out. Nadia and Noah go into Jacob’s guest room, you partially thankful that you didn’t have to deal with them making fun of your being cold anymore, but, slightly weird since you and Jacob had never really been alone like this before. You always thought he was attractive, but never had the chance or the desire to act on it. Not that you were about to.
“Are you still cold?” Jacob asks, a teasing smile on his face as he gets up from the couch. Even in the dark, you could tell how well his sweatpants were fitted to him.
Jesus, you had to stop this. You couldn’t go home and you definitely couldn’t stay here if you were going to think about him like that all night. “Yeah, and?” you ask.
He comes back, blanket in hand and puts it over you, settling back down on the couch next to you. “Better?”
You nod, the two of you falling into conversation. There was something calming about the darkness, the snow falling in the window behind him, the two of you finally using the time to get to know each other.
You don’t remember falling asleep, waking up the next morning still under the blanket. The only difference was that you were under there with Jacob, your head leaning on his chest, the warmth from his body making you feel like you were burning. You look around, Jacob still asleep, your phone on the table in front of you, the sweatshirt and bra you had on earlier thrown there as well, Jacob’s sweatpants somehow in that mix as well.
What the fuck happened?

What Happens In Vegas…Doesn’t Always Stay There Masterlist
Tumblr media
Some days you just couldn’t believe how lucky you were to be married to Jacob. Sure, things had got off on a rocky start, but now, here you were eight months into both your marriage and your pregnancy and your life was pure bliss. Though had someone asked your husband that, he may have not agreed with you at the moment.
“Babe, you need to put that washer on before you screw in that nut.”
“I know, prinsessa,” he huffed back, however, he still put the screw into the crib without the washer on it.
“Jacob, the washer?” He blew out a frustrated breath, taking the bolt back out to put the washer on as you told him not even a minute ago. “If you’d just let me help.” He’d insisted that he was going to be the one to put your daughter’s crib together. At the rate he was going though, you should’ve started a couple months ago.
“You’re eight months pregnant, (Y/N). There is no way that I’m letting you do manual labor. What if you hurt yourself or worse our little honeydew in there?”
“You know we’re really going to have to come up with a name for her. We can’t call her the name of fruits, the rest of her life. Besides what happens when she gets bigger than a watermelon?”
Jacob chuckled as he tightened the nut, then moved on to the next one. “What about Beatrice?”
“Reminds me too much of that movie, Divergent. Her parents weren’t great in that were they?” It was a rhetorical question, so you just kept going. “What about Olivia?”
“Boring. Everyone names their little girl Olivia anymore.” He had a point, there was a reason that the name had been on the popular girls' list for a number of years. “Elsa is really popular in Sweden.”
“And have everyone sing ‘Let it Go’ every time they say her name.”
“Fair point.” He went back to putting that crib together. “Knulla!” Jacob cursed dropping the f-bomb in his native tongue.”
 “What? Are you hurt?”
“No, but I can’t get that damn song out of my head.” You couldn’t help but burst into a fit of laughter.
“So, Anna is out then as well.”
“Oh my god, no we are not naming her that either.” One side of the crib was completely put together and he leaned it up against the wall, moving onto the next. This time putting the washers on the screws before starting. “We can just name her fruit salad, that way it covers all the names we’ve called her.”
“Absolutely not. We’re not going to be one of those couples that name their child after obscure things, like Coco or Cardboard.”
A bark of laughter was your answer from Jacob. “Well, hopefully, once we see her, it will just come to us. You know sometimes when you look at someone the name just fits.”
“I hope so, or our child may end up being Fruit Salad Markstrom. It doesn’t have a very nice ring to it.”
 “No, no it doesn’t.”
While Jacob continued to work on the crib, you got up and wandered into the office. Pulling out the folder you wanted, you headed back to your husband. “Speaking of names.” He turned giving you his full attention. “I was wondering how you’d feel if I legally changed mine.” Inside the folder, there were numerous documents, driver’s license, passports, bills, all of which had to be changed. You just wanted Jacob’s ok before making it official. The moment you decided to stay married to Jacob, you weren’t one hundred percent sure you wanted to ever change your name. Now, you saw no reason to keep your old one. You wanted the world to know that you were his and that he in turn was yours.
“I’d be thrilled if you changed it to Markstrom, but are you sure prinsessa?” He abandoned the crib and moved to set on the sofa with you. “I know you how much your independence means.”
He had taken your hands in his, and you felt him idly playing with your wedding rings. “It was, or is, but you’ve proven I can still have that while being your wife, and that’s not going to change no matter what my last name is. But more importantly, I want us to be a family; you, me, and fruit salad. I’m proud of who you are Jacob and proud of this family. I want to be an official part of it.”
“You’ve always been an official part of it. There’s no family without you, prinsessa. But nothing would make me happier than you officially being Mrs. Markstrom.” His lips found yours. The kiss sweet as you melted into him.
“Well, then I guess I need to get this started. At least it will give me something to do while you finish that crib over there.”
His lips started to trail down your neck and collarbone. “I think we need a little break. Don’t you?” He took the folder and placed it back on the coffee table, then gently laid you down on the couch. It was several hours before Jacob finished the crib. He even went so far as to get inside and prove to you that if it was strong enough to hold him, it would surely hold your baby.
 ***
As the last couple of weeks of your pregnancy went by, you still hadn’t come up with a name for your baby girl. What did make itself know was your daughter inside you. Your back ached and it felt like she was using your ribs for kickboxing practices at all hours of the day. You were so ready to have her out of you and in your arms instead of pressing on your bladder. The day she was due came and went though. According to the doctor she was in perfect position for you to deliver, yet she didn’t seem to want to make her arrival.
Two days later, you were on the phone with Lena telling her how miserable you felt. “I just can’t seem to get comfortable,” you whined.
“Oh darling, I know exactly how you feel. Jacob was almost two weeks late. I tried every trick anyone would tell me to induce labor, but I swear only one thing worked.”
Fourteen days seemed like an eternity. You waited for Jacob’s mom to say more, but couldn’t keep silent long. “Oh please tell me. I already made Jacob take me for a ride on the roughest road he could find. All that did was make me have to pee.”
Lena giggled, but if she had only seen you begging Jacob to pull off of the road so that you could relieve yourself, she would’ve laughed even harder. “Oh, you poor thing. I remember it all too well.” Her laughter died down, and she spoke in a softer tone. “Now, I hope you don’t mind me asking this but have you and Jacob…” she trailed off, leaving you guessing as to what she meant. “You know…are you still…intimate?”
“Oh!” The question made you pause for even though you’d grown very close to Lena; it wasn’t like you were telling her of your sex life with her son. “Well…not for the last week or so. Jacob was worried about me…” It dawned on you then what she meant, as Jacob was afraid that you’d go into labor. Now, that’s exactly what you wanted to happen.
“Ah, so you see what I’m getting at.” You most certainly did. “Keep in mind I had trouble convincing Anders that it was a good idea, but it most definitely worked.”
 “Lena, you’re an angel.”
“I’m not sure I’d call myself that.” You both chuckled. “Now, I’m going to let you go and hope that the next phone call I get, is you telling me that my granddaughter is here.”
 “I sure hope so.”
“Love you, darling. Tell my son, I love him as well.”
“Love you too and same to Anders.” You hung up, right as Jacob walked into the house after his workout. Normally, he would’ve headed back to Sweden by now, but with the baby being due, the two of you were staying in Vancouver. So, he was sticking to his normal routine.
“I’m back, prinsessa,” He announced as if you hadn’t heard the garage door open. “How’s my baby doing?”
“Well, if you mean your daughter, she’s still not ready to make her grand appearance yet.” You sighed rubbing your belly. “If you mean me, I’m extremely pregnant and uncomfortable.”
Jacob dropped a kiss to your lips before sitting down beside you on the couch. “My poor prinsessa, apparently you’ve made it so nice in there our little watermelon doesn’t want to leave.”
“Well, speaking of that…” Jacob’s eyes lifted up in query. “I was thinking maybe we could speed the process up a bit.” You let your fingers trail down his chest until they rested at his waistband. His raised eyebrows told you that he knew your intent, and you lifted yours in return along with a little smirk.
Jacob stilled your hand though. “Prinsessa, I don’t think that we should. What if I hurt you or the baby?”
“You’re not going to hurt either of us. I promise.”
“But what if you go into labor?”
“That’s the point, Jacob. I want to go into labor.” You could now see why Lena mentioned she had trouble convincing Anders. The look of concern on his face had you questioning whether or not you were going to be able to pull this off. Let’s face it, you knew that being nine months pregnant, wasn’t any man’s ideal temptation, though you had to admit that Jacob hadn’t seemed to mind your rounded belly. In fact, he always told you how sexy you looked, and up and until about two weeks ago, he couldn’t seem to keep his hands off of you. Maybe if you used some of your feminine wiles, you could somehow tempt him, though at the moment you felt anything but sexy.
You were somehow able to finagle your wrist free that Jacob had captured, though his grip was never that tight. This time instead of going to his waistband, you went straight for what you wanted. His cock. To say that you were surprised to find him semi-erect, was an understatement. Apparently, your husband did still find you sexy. “Please baby.” You stroked up the length of him, your touch causing him to get harder. “You know…once I have our little blueberry, there won’t be any of this for a while. Like six whole weeks.”
Jacob groaned. He’d done the research and knew that your body needed time to heal. He wasn’t a cad, that couldn’t wait the six weeks that you needed, though he knew that time would prove difficult, for he couldn’t seem to keep his hands off of you. When your thumb brushed back and forth over the tip of his cock, he was done for. He growled in frustration with himself, for wanting you so bad, before capturing your mouth. The kiss was rougher than he intended at first and he had to remind himself to be gentler with you, even though you craved his manhandling. “You win, prinsessa,” he finally managed to breathe out once he tore his lips from yours. “But swear to me, that if you feel even the slightest hint of pain, you’ll tell me.”
“I swear,” was your hurried answer before he could change his mind. Jacob got up off the couch, then grabbed your hands to help you up. “We can just stay here.”
“I’m not fucking my very pregnant wife on the sofa. We’re going upstairs.”
“Yes, sir.” You stated in mock salute. Jacob shook his head, covering up his laughter as he led you up the stairs. It was definitely not the intimate little chase that the two of you had done so many times when you’d first moved in. Your body just didn’t move as fast these last couple of weeks, as your back was always aching, just as it was now. You’d just made it up the first few stairs when you felt this weird twinge. You told yourself it was nothing, but it stopped you for a moment and had Jacob looking back to make sure everything was ok. It passed quickly and so you went to take the next step. That’s when you felt it. It was sort of just an intense amount of pressure and then before you knew what was happening there was fluid leaking out of you uncontrollably. “Jacob,” you exclaimed and he quickly turned again. “I think my water just broke.” His eyes went from your face to the floor then back to your face again.
“Oh my god.” Jacob’s face went white, for even though you both knew this moment was coming, it was still a bit shocking now that it was finally here. “Where’s your bag? We should call the doctor? I’ll go get the car.”
“Slow down,” you coaxed, brushing your hand against his cheek. “Let’s see how far apart the contractions are before we start rushing. Besides, I need to clean this and myself up.”
 “But prinsessa…”
“I’m fine, Jacob. Really. That was only my first contraction.” At least you thought it was your first. Your back had been hurting off and on all day, but you’d just chalked it up to carrying the baby. “Let’s just wait and see when the next one comes.” Heading back to the kitchen, you grabbed some paper towels to clean up the small mess on the floor. Jacob took them out of your hands before you could even attempt to stoop down.
“I still think we should call the doctor.”
“Fine. If it’ll make you feel better.” It couldn’t hurt to keep her informed. “Ouch.”
 “Was that another one?”
“Yes,” you answered rubbing your overgrown belly.
“That was less than five minutes, prinsessa.” He was already dialing the phone, as you headed upstairs to change. You weren’t sure how fast your labor would progress but you wanted to be prepared should you need to leave for the hospital right away. By the time you got out of your soiled clothes, another contraction hit. It definitely came on quicker than the last and lasted longer than the other one as well. You changed clothes as quickly as possible.
Jacob came running up the stairs right as you were throwing on your shirt. “Are you having another one already?” You tried to mask the pain but nodded as the last twinges of it subsided. “The doctor said we should head in, with your water breaking, and the look on your face tells me we should’ve left a couple minutes ago.” Jacob ran into the closet and grabbed the bag of stuff you had packed as well as the diaper bag. “What are you doing, prinsessa? You should be downstairs by now.”
“I just need a hair tie.”
“Babe, you have at least six packed in this bag. Can you not use one of them?”
You were already in the bathroom digging for the one you wanted. “Not the same, this one is my favo…ugh.” The rest of the word was lost as yet another contraction hit.
“That’s it we’re leaving right now.” Jacob grabbed several hair ties and threw them in his pockets before taking your hand and leading you out of the bathroom and down the stairs. “We are not having our daughter in this house.” He scolded, taking the stairs as quickly as possible.
You were in the car and out of the driveway before the next contraction hit. It freaked Jacob out, even more than before and you felt the car speed up. He had to be going well over the speed limit, but you were not going to complain as it felt like your labor was going at the same pace as the car. As you hit a red light, you saw Jacob’s knee starting to bounce as his anxiety raised waiting for it to turn green. You reached over and threaded your fingers through his. “We got this, hun.”
He squeezed your fingers back, right as the light turned green. “I should be reassuring you.” You chuckled lightly as the car continued on.
It was exactly 11:24 when you entered the hospital. Jacob made his way to the registration desk, letting them know you were here. From there, things became a whirlwind. You were taken to a private room and hooked up to all kinds of monitors. Approximately thirty minutes later, they were telling you that you were in full active labor. Duh, you could’ve told them that, as your contractions seemed to be coming at a rapid-fire pace.
“Aren’t first-time births supposed to take longer?” You inquired of the nurse that was checking the fetal monitor.
“On average, yes, but everyone is different. Trust me most women would kill to be progressing this fast.”
It wasn’t lost on you that just a couple hours ago you were begging for your daughter to be out of you, but now that the time had come you had to admit you were having second thoughts. “I don’t know if I’m ready.” It was a thought that had been echoing in your head the moment you hit the doorway to the hospital.
“Oh, you’re definitely ready.” The nurse commented even though you hadn’t been talking to her. “I’ll be back with the doctor in a few minutes. If you need anything just ring the bell.”
“What about the epidural?” She must have not heard you as she headed out the door. You turned to Jacob, who hadn’t left your side. “I don’t think I can do this Jacob.”
“Sure you can, prinsessa.” His hand soothingly caressed your cheek, brushing back some stray hairs at the same time. “Everything will be fine.”
“But what if I suck at this whole parenting thing….” Another contraction hit, and it felt like there was a vice grip on your uterus.
“Just breathe.” Jacob mimicked what you’d both learned in child birthing class and you found yourself breathing with him through the pain. Once, you finally had it under control, Jacob continued. “You’re going to be the best mom ever prinsessa. Our little girl is going to be lucky to have you.”
You smiled weakly, hoping that he was right. “Well, at least she’ll have the most amazing dad.” Jacob leaned down and kissed your lips sweetly, right before the nurse came back in.
“Ok, looks like you’ve got another one coming (Y/N).” She informed you as she checked the monitor. You’d barely caught your breath from the last one, but you prepared yourself for the next as the doctor came into the room with few other nurses.
“So, they tell me this little girl is ready to make her appearance.” She advised as she got in position to deliver the baby. You nodded through gritted teeth as the contraction hit. You squeezed Jacob's hand, no doubt cutting off the circulation, but he never said a word. “Definitely ten centimeters.” The doctor proclaimed, peeking her head back up. “Are we ready mom and dad?”
Jacob smiled at you and suddenly you felt a confidence that only moments ago you didn’t possess. “So, ready,” you answered.
“Ok dad, if you want to get behind mom as we talked about.” Jacob slid in behind you as you scooted all the way to the edge of the bed. His arms hooking under you to support your body as you were in a squatting position. It was all quite different from the way movies portrayed giving birth, but the doctor had told you that gravity was your friend during this moment and you were all for what would make things go smoothly. Once you were both in position, the doctor took her place. “Ok, here comes another one. I want you to push this time (Y/N). Can you do that for me?”
“Yes,” you somehow managed to mumble out through the ball of nerves that was going through your body. You bared down when the contraction hit, letting Jacob support most of you.
“That’s good.” The doctor told you.
“You’re doing great, prinsessa.” Jacob encouraged you, dropping a kiss to your temple as you rested for a minute.
“Ok, this time I need you to push for a count of ten, ok?” You grunted your response, then pushed again as the doctor counted you through the contraction. “Great. I can see the head. Just relax a second and then this next one I’m going to need you to really push, (Y/N). Just one big one and then your little girl is going to be in your arms.” You could feel Jacob smiling against you, as you relaxed against him. “Ok, here we go.”
“Push, prinsessa. You can do this.” It seemed as though Jacob no sooner said the words than you felt an intense amount of pressure and a mild burning sensation, but then it was over. In that split second you knew you’d delivered your daughter and you held your breath waiting to hear her cries. While it was probably mere seconds, it felt like a lifetime before you heard her lungs cry out. It was honestly the best music you’d ever heard in your life.
The doctor wrapped her in the towel she used to basically catch your daughter in and then laid her up on your chest. “Here’s your baby girl. We’ll give you a minute with her, while we get ready to cut the cord. Dad, you still up for it.”
Jacob had been gazing down at his beautiful daughter and had a hard time answering her, but finally managed to mumble out a yes. “She’s so beautiful, prinsessa.” She really was, even though she was still tinted a little blue. Your birthing classes had made you aware that this would happen, and that she would ‘pink up’ within a few minutes. “She really is our little blueberry,” Jacob added, his hand caressing her little back while you held her to your skin.
“She’s perfect.” Tears streamed down your face, happy but also somewhat sad, that you’d not wanted this sooner in life. The happiness you were experiencing at that moment was so much more than any job could ever give.
“Ok, Dad your up.” The doctor informed Jacob, who reached around to cut the umbilical cord. His hands were shaking with both excitement and nerves. It took all of two seconds to do and then your daughter was officially her own little person, no longer needing that connection to you. It was both sad and thrilling at the same time, for you truly did enjoy being pregnant with her, well up until these last couple of days. “We’re going to take her for a few minutes, get her cleaned up, and check her height and weight.”
“Go with her, please.” You told Jacob, not wanting to leave your daughter alone, even if it was only across the room. His long legs made it easy to scoot out from behind you and trail behind the nurse that had your baby girl.
“Ok, (Y/N), let’s see if we can get the placenta out while they're taking care of your cute little blueberry over there.” It took about fifteen minutes to push the afterbirth out. Which was too long in your opinion as you wanted to see your daughter again. As soon it is was over, you glanced over to where Jacob was holding your little girl. She looked so tiny in his large frame, but what you couldn’t get past was the look of awe and utter elation on Jacob’s face. It had been a long road to get to this moment, but all you needed to do was look at your husband and your daughter and know that it had been worth it.
“We’ve got a healthy little girl, prinsessa. They said she weighs six pounds and two ounces.”
“Though I think she may end up being tall like her dad here.” The doctor chimed in. “She just a little over twenty-two inches long.” You couldn’t see her legs as she was cuddled up in a blanket on Jacob’s chest. “Since you both seem to be doing well, we’ll let you three get in some bonding time. Feel free to ring for the nurse if you need anything.”
You scooted over on the bed, as the last of your nurse left closing the door behind him. Jacob gently sat down on the spot you’d made then handed over your newborn daughter. “She’s so perfect, (Y/N).”
You nuzzled your cheek next to hers and you had to admit that Jacob was right. She was absolutely the most perfect thing on this planet. “I can’t believe we did this,” you whispered gazing down at your little girl.
“You did this, prinsessa.” Jacob’s arm slipped easily around you to hold you both.
“I’m pretty sure I couldn’t have done any of it without you.” Your lips found his easily, the kiss sweet and tender, matching the moment. “I love you.”
“I love you too and our little blueberry.” His large hand cradled her head as his thumb gently caressed her cheek. “Speaking of which, we need to give her a name.”
“True, we can’t call her our little blueberry forever.”
“Actually, I was thinking we could.” You turned your nose up at him, not wanting your daughter’s name to be Blueberry Markstrom. “Hear me out. I was looking at names the other day and found one, Morelia.” You turned the name over a few times in your head, seeing if you liked it or not. “It means little blueberry in Polish.”
“Morelia,” you said out loud this time, testing it on your tongue. “Morelia Markstrom, I like it, but I have one small adjustment.” Jacob looked down at you in question. “I want her middle name to be Andrea after both you and your dad.”
 “(Y/N)…”
Tears started to well in Jacob’s eyes and you knew that yours had them as well. “Back when we didn’t know what we were having, and I thought she,” you looked down at the sleeping little girl laying on your chest. “I thought she might be a boy and I wanted to name him Anders after seeing you with your dad. Anders doesn’t quite sound right for a girl, but what do you think of Morelia Andrea Markstrom.”
“Morelia Andrea,” Jacob breathed out, a note of awe in his voice. “It’s kind of a mouthful, but I love it.”
You laughed at your husband for he was right. “She’s going to hate us.”
“Probably at some point.” Jacob chuckled. “But then don’t all kids hate their parents.”
“Well, Morelia Andrea Markstrom, welcome to the family.” You kissed the top of your baby girl’s head. “Now, take off your shirt,” you ordered Jacob.
“Excuse me, you just had a baby. I know you were all about sex a few hours ago, but it’s off the table for a while.”
You rolled your eyes at your husband. “Not for that. So that you and Morelia can have some skin-to-skin contact. The first few hours are crucial.”
“Which is why you have her,” Jacob insisted.
“I had her for the last nine months. I think you can have the first hour. Besides, I’m right here.” Jacob took his shirt off then while you unwrapped Morelia from her blanket. She whimpered when you passed her to her father, but then snuggled down on his bare chest. You took the blanket and covered her back up so that she wouldn’t catch a chill.
“I know I’ve said it before, prinsessa but she’s perfect.” The arm that wasn’t cradling his little girl wrapped around you and he curled you next to both himself and the baby. “Thank you, (Y/N).” You wanted to question him further but he went on. “I know you’re going to tell me it took both of us, but thank you for bringing our little girl into the world.” He kissed her little head. “But most of all, thank you for being my wife and the love of my life.” The tears were flowing freely now and you turned your head so that your lips could connect with Jacob’s. The kiss was passionate and sweet at the same time, bespeaking the love you both shared.
“I love you,” you whispered, too choked up for words.
 ****
It was four weeks later that you were on a plane headed to Sweden. You were nervous that Morelia wouldn’t do well on the flight, but she seemed to have the same easy-going temperament as her father. She was the happiest and most content baby. She also happened to be spoiled rotten by both her father and her mother, and once she got to Sweden by her grandparents as well. It was rare that she wasn’t being held, even when she was sleeping. You only hoped that once you returned to Canada, and her father was back training, that she would still be just as easy to care for as she was now.
Summer in Sweden was simply amazing. There were long hikes with Morelia strapped to you or Jacob, which she simply loved. Days where he would drag you both to the golf course with him, solely because he didn’t want to be away from either of you longer than necessary. Time was also spent out on the water, Jacob teaching you how to fish. Which honestly was futile for you enjoyed having your husband’s arms wrapped around you more than you did waiting for a fish to bite. However, the best time had to be those spent with his family. Jacob’s place wasn’t far from his parents and you spent as much time as possible with them. Soaking up every family moment that you could, as Ander’s health seemed to be failing.
As your trip neared its end, Jacob finally broached a subject that had been weighing on his mind for months. “Prinsessa, can we talk?”
You had just put the baby down for the night and were joining Jacob around the fire that he had going in the backyard. “Of course.”
He had a serious look on his face, which concerned you somewhat, but that thought vanished as he pulled you down on his lap and kissed your lips. “Do you remember back a few months ago when I asked you to marry me again?” How could you forget? The memory was etched in your brain and not because the two of you had fought before the moment, but because he had given you a choice then. A choice you didn’t think you had, once you found out that you were married and then pregnant with his child.
“Yes, I don’t think I’ll ever forget. It was some of the sweetest things you’ve ever said to me.”
There was a glow on his cheeks and you couldn’t tell if it was from the firelight or a blush. “Oh, well, every word I said was true.” You knew this but you weren’t exactly sure why he was bringing this up now. “Especially the part where I want to marry you again.”
 “I want that too.”
The two of you were grinning like fools at each other. “Good,” Jacob finally breathed out. “I was thinking we could do it when we go back.” That was literally only a few weeks away. “On our one-year anniversary. I want to do it with all our family and friends around; with you in a beautiful white dress and our daughter up there with us.”
“Jacob, that’s literally just a couple weeks away. How are we supposed to pull something like that off?”
“It doesn’t have to be fancy, prinsessa. I’m just afraid…” He trailed off and you knew what he feared without him voicing his concerns. That his father wouldn’t be there.
You stopped him before he could say more. Hands on his face, looking directly into his eyes, you told me, “Of course, I’ll marry you then. We’ll figure it out. Are you sure you just don’t want to do it here? We could have a simple ceremony right here in the backyard.”
“I’ve thought about that, but what about your family. I know we have time, not as much as I’d like but we can do this.” You nodded your agreement, then kissed his lips once again.
“Of course, we can. I can pull my resources together and we do something in our backyard at home or there has to be a venue in Vancouver we can rent out. It doesn’t have to be elaborate.”
“I was thinking about that as well.” It seemed as though he’d been doing a lot of thinking without you on the subject. “I want to go back to Vegas.” This took you a bit by surprise. It was honestly the last place you would’ve thought of. “Hear me out. We can do something at one of the fancier hotels, and you can wear a beautiful long white dress and I know you’re going to tell me that I can do that anywhere, but Vegas is where I first fell in love with you. It brought us together. It’s where Morelia was conceived. I just think it would be this full circle thing, only this time we’ll both be sober, and we’ll have more than just a couple of pictures to remember it by.”
The excitement on his face told you that you had no other choice but to agree, though the picture he painted did seem perfect. “Alright! Let’s get remarried in Vegas.”
“This is going to be perfect, prinsessa.”
The week and a half you had left in Sweden was chaotic, to say the least, as you tried to book a venue and invite all your friends and family to your Vegas wedding. Thankfully, Lena and Anders helped with Morelia. They were soaking up every second they could with their granddaughter, making your life much easier. Finding a dress, however, was proving to be a challenge. You were still working on shedding the last few pounds of baby weight that you’d tacked on, and were unsure of what your dress size was. Plus, let’s face buying a wedding dress wasn’t really meant to be done online. You knew that it would need to be altered when you got, so you made sure you had a seamstress ready to go once you were back in Vancouver, and after scouring thousands of websites you finally found the perfect one. It had a detachable skirt which would allow you more freedom as the night of festivities went on. By the time you were back in Vancouver you pretty much had things under control. It surprised you how much time and effort Jacob had put into helping, wanting to make it perfect, not only for your friends and family but for the two of you as well.
As the big day drew near, you flew out to Las Vegas to have a little fun but also make sure plans were running smoothly. It seemed everyone had that idea, as many of your friends and family came a few days early as well. It was all so reminiscent of a year ago, only this time you had your daughter in tow and there was a lot less drinking going on, at least by you and Jacob. Everyone else on the other hand, well, they were enjoying themselves immensely.
The night before the ceremony everyone insisted that you and Jacob spend the night apart, though, for the life of you, you couldn’t see why. You’d been married for a year and if the trials of that year hadn’t broken you apart, you figured some lousy tradition wouldn’t as well. However, you both relented to your family’s wishes and stayed in separate suites; Morelia staying with Jacob’s parents for the next couple of nights.
You were just getting into bed when you heard a knock at the door, so you padded across the floor and peered through the peephole, only to see what look like several dozen white roses staring back at you. To your shock, those same flowers were attached to your husband. “What are you doing here?”
“Bringing you these,” he declared stepping inside and handing over the delicate blooms. He planted a kiss on your lips that made your head spin.
 “They’re beautiful but totally unnecessary.”
“I beg to differ, as I’m using them as an excuse to sneak into your room for the night.” All you could do was laugh at him as he placed the do not disturb sign on the door handle then firmly shut the door.
You set the flowers down on the table, as Jacob followed you inside the room. It was the one that you’d been sharing for the last several nights. He thought it would be easier for him to just move his one suitcase, instead of the three that you ended up packing. “You know you’re not supposed to see the bride before the wedding. It’s bad luck and all. Besides I’m pretty sure our families would throw a fit if they knew you were here.”
“Pft. Seeing as we’re already married, I’m going to take my chances.” His hands were on the silk of the nightgown you’d chosen to wear to bed, sliding up and down your hips. “Is this new?” You nodded. “Mmm, hope you weren't planning on saving it until tomorrow?”
“No, I have something else for our ‘wedding night.’”
His brows knitted in question. “Then who was this for?”
“You. I knew you’d be in my room tonight.” Jacob gave a bark of laughter as your hands slid up and around his neck. “Or I’d be in yours.” You went up on your toes to kiss him. It was heated and filled with passion, just like it was every time your lips touched his.
“So how long was I going to have to wait until you headed to my room?” Jacob asked as he maneuvered you both towards the bed.
“Not long, though I knew you’d give in first.”
“Oh? So sure of yourself, wife.” His hands were skating over your ass now, raising the nightdress with each caress.
 “You’re here aren’t you?”
“True and I don’t plan on leaving until the morning.”
You bunched the fabric of his shirt up until Jacob released you to rip it off. “Hopefully, before our parents know.”
“Mmm,” he hummed as his lips ghosted down your neck. He slid the thin straps easily off of both shoulders. “This is gorgeous, but I think I like what’s underneath better.” The gown fell effortlessly to the floor and you stood there naked in front of your husband. “Mmm, yes this is so much better.” He kicked the garment away, then turned his full attention to you.
“You know that cost a lot of money.”
He simply shrugged. “I’ll buy you hundreds more, though I’d prefer if you just went like this all day long.”
“Oh, I’m sure that will go over well the next charity event.”
“You talk too much, prinsessa.” Just when you went to chided him, he continued. “Don’t get me wrong I love that, but just not right now.”
You slid your hands up his long torso. “Then maybe you should make me…” anything else you would’ve said was lost as his lips pressed hard and demanding against yours. He eased you down onto the mattress, never breaking the kiss, which was making you dizzy with want.  His body loomed on top of yours, a delicious feeling that you would crave until the end of time. Jacob’s hands wandered all over you. His long fingers tweaking your breasts and nipples before stealing down to find you dripping with need.
Jacob felt as if you were made for him and he would never get over the awe that struck him each time he touched your body. You were his prinsessa, more like a goddess that was made specifically for him and he worshipped every part of you. He slid his fingers between your folds, to find your wet and it took his breath away. He toyed with you for a few minutes, savoring the feel of your body squirming under his ministrations.
“Jacob,” you panted out with desire. He knew what you wanted and he craved it as well. He wanted to see your shatter, to see your fall apart within his arms. Knew you were close by the way your body trembled and the way your hips bucked into his hand. You were so close. With just the press of his thumb against your clit, you were there, a loud moaning falling from your lips as your mouth tore away from his. He watched that blissful state wash over you. Treasured the look in your eyes and the smile that graced your face as you came down from the high that he had brought you. He would never tire of it, not today, not tomorrow, and not in a million years.
You didn’t even register the fact that Jacob had discarded the rest of his clothing until you felt him widening your legs to accommodate him. Once you did, you moved into a position that you knew would bring you both pleasure. His piercing blue eyes never left yours, as he took himself in hand and started to enter you. You may have not remembered much from that first time together, but you knew that feeling of him inside was one you’d never tire of. Only when he was buried deep inside your body, did his lips come back down on yours. From there the two of you moved together, setting a pace that would bring you both pleasure. It wasn’t hurried, for there was no rush. You knew that the two of you would be together forever, and it had nothing to do with the vows that would be exchanged tomorrow or those said a year ago. You weren’t sure how long you made love like that. It could’ve been hours or it could’ve been minutes. All you knew was that when you both finally did cum, it was like your souls were being joined together. Almost as if it were more sacred than the words you would speak tomorrow.
Jacob snuck out of your suite in the early morning as the sun just began to rise. Most of the day was spent getting ready for the ceremony that would take place later on in the day in gardens at the Bellagio. Hair and makeup people came to your suite to get you ready, but you insisted that you be the one to get Morelia in her little dress. She looked like a little princess and you had a feeling you’d be relinquishing that title of prinsessa to your daughter, which was perfectly fine. There were so many pictures snapped of the two of you getting ready, that you felt bad Jacob wasn’t in any of them. Lena must have read your mind. “Would you like me to take her to Jacob for a few?”
“Would you? I can't bear it that he’s not seeing her right now.”
She took the little bundle from your arms, then kissed you on the cheek. “You look beautiful, my dear. I’ll see you downstairs. Now let’s go see daddy.” She said to Morelia as the two of them left. It only took you a few minutes to slip into your dress, but then there were more pictures taken. Your first wedding all you had were barely five photos to really remember the occasion, today there would be well over five hundred it seemed.
As the last one was snapped before the photographer headed down to the gardens, butterflies started to flutter in your stomach. Which was really silly considering that you were already married. But you weren’t really nervous about marrying Jacob, you’d do that a hundred times over. It was simply that last time it had been a folly really. A joke between two drunk people that turned out to be the greatest thing of your life. Today you’d make that commitment again, solidifying your relationship in front of all of those you loved. It was something you never thought you wanted to do or get to do, yet here you were.
“It’s time, (Y/N),” Kennedy said handing over your bridal bouquet. “I can’t believe we’re both married women.”
“Me either, Kenny.” You swiped at an errant tear that threatened to ruin your makeup. When Kennedy started to head to the door you stopped her. “Kenny,” she turned back to look at you. “I’m sorry for being the biggest jerk about you getting married a year ago. I can’t take it back nor would I want to because then we wouldn’t be here today. I just want you to know that if I would’ve known then what I know now, I would’ve supported you and Ryan in any way that I could. So while I’m so sorry for being an ass, one year ago. I’m so very glad that things ended up the way they did.”
It was Kennedy’s turn to wipe the tears from her eyes. “I am too, (Y/N). I wouldn’t change a damn thing.” She enveloped you in the biggest hug, both of you shedding a few more tears. “I love you, but let’s get you remarried.”
 “I love you too.”
There were a few stares from hotels guests as you made your way down to the gardens. You even heard one little girl ask her mother if you were a real princess. You certainly felt like one and in Jacob’s eyes, you always would be. You took his breath away as you made your way down the staircase, then finally through the garden path that led you directly to him.
“You look breathtakingly beautiful, Mrs. Markstrom.” He whispered as he grabbed your free hand and brought it to his lips.
“You look quite dashing yourself, Mr. Markstrom.” You couldn’t stop gazing into his eyes, it was like only the two of you existed at that moment in time. That was until you heard the gurgle of your daughter. You looked over at her to see her smile as her Farfar held her just a short distance away. Both you and Jacob smiled as Anders turned Morelia so that she could see you both. “I feel like I’m dreaming,” you admitted to him as the moment just seemed magical.
“Definitely a dream come true, prinsessa.”
The officiant coughed discreetly, then whispered, “If you two are ready?”
You both turned back to him then. “Sorry,” you said in unison.
“Not a problem.” He told you with a smile plastered on his face. “Welcome everyone,” he started. “There is nothing more romantic than to stand in front of your family and friends and declare the love you have for each other, and today we get the privilege of witnessing (Y/N) and Jacob do just that.” The officiant went on, most of it was a blur until it was time for you to say your vows. They were something that you were never going to forget.
“Jacob,” you started as he now took both your hands in his and gave them a little squeeze. “It’s hard to believe it’s only been a year since I first met you and repeated some mundane words that would make us man and wife. Today is so much more than that. Today I pledge my love for the man that I met that day. The same man that has stood by my side this entire year, through all the good times,” as you said the words you both looked over at your daughter. “And through the bad, and promise to remain by your side through all the rest, until the end of time. I didn’t believe in love or marriage before I met you, but now I can’t see how I could spend another day without you in it. You are my life, my love, and my soul. I promise not only to love you but cherish each and every moment that we have on this earth together.”
Jacob teared up a bit during your words, just as you had to push past yours to say them, though you had a feeling you wouldn’t be able to keep them at bay when Jacob spoke his vows to you. He cleared his throat, then began. “(Y/N),” again there was that squeeze to your hands. “Who would’ve thought that a year ago a few drinks by the pool would lead to one of the best decisions of my life? I can’t say what was going through my head at that moment, but I do know marrying you that day was the greatest day of my life.” He looked over at Morelia and you followed his gaze. “Well until a few months ago. You’ve given me things that I didn’t even know I wanted; a baby, a family of my own, and most of all love. You’ve made me happier this past year than I’ve ever been my whole life. I mean that prinsessa. I’m the luckiest man in the world because you are by my side and I promise to never take that for granted. Today, I promise to love you more than I have these past three hundred and sixty-five days, for you are my future, my life, and my love, and I want nothing more than to show you this for the rest of our lives. I love you, prinsessa.”
You gazed at your husband through glistening tears as they streamed down your face. Never in your life had you felt so treasured by one human being than right now. The only logical thing to do was to go up on your toes and kiss him. It wasn’t long, but you tried to pour all the love you had for him into it. “You two are a little early on that,” the officiant teased while the crowd of onlookers just chuckled.
“Sorry,” you both muttered once you separated.
“Now that you have both declared your intent, let’s make this official.” He continued on with the ceremony. “(Y/N) will you continue to have Jacob as your husband and continue to live in marriage? Do you reaffirm your love for him, cherish and honor him, care for him in both sickness and health, for richer or poorer, for better or worse, and forsaking all others' promise to be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?”
It was honestly the easiest answer of your life. “I do.”
“Jacob, will you continue to have (Y/N) as your wife and continue to live in marriage? Do you reaffirm your love for her, cherish and honor her, care for her in both sickness and health, for richer or poorer, for better or worse, and forsaking all others' promise to be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?”
“I do,” Jacob said loud and clear with a huge grin on his face.
“Then by the power vested in me by the great state of Nevada, I pronounce you both once again husband and wife.” The two of you waited with bated breath for him to say that you could finally kiss, even though you already had. “Well go ahead and kiss your wife again,” the officiant chuckled. Jacob’s lips locked with yours as cheers from your family and friends erupted. The loud noise startled Morelia, who started to cry. Anders quickly handed her off to you, and both you and Jacob lulled your daughter back to sleep. From there it was tons more pictures and a night of celebration.
This wedding was everything your first wasn’t. You got to have your first dance, and cut the cake, as well as feed it to each other. In the end, you knew that for as long as you lived, you would never forget your second wedding day.
It was seven weeks later that you got another reminder as to why you wouldn’t forget it. “I’m late,” you told Jacob as soon as he walked through the door from a short road trip.
“Did I forget you had an appointment? Traffic was a bit bad, but I didn’t think I was too late getting back here from the airport.”
“Not that kind of late. I’m late, late.” Jacob’s eyes widened as realization dawned on him. Your periods had been off a bit but that was normal after having a baby, and while you planned on having an IUD put in after Morelia, you’d completely forgot about it once you got back from Sweden. It wasn’t that big of a deal as Jacob had been using condoms most every time, except that once.
“How…or when?” he asked still a bit stunned by the news.
“I’m pretty sure it was the night before our wedding or the night of? I just realized it when I went to make an appointment to have the IUD put in.”
 “Have you taken a test?”
“No, I thought I’d wait for you.” You weren’t sure how he was going to react as another baby wasn’t quite in the plans that you two had worked out. You’d both agreed that you wanted to enjoy Morelia and take in all her firsts before having another. Once she was two, you’d planned to give it another go, but apparently, someone higher up had other plans for you. “I have an appointment in an hour at the doctor’s office. Figured there was no point in peeing on a stick as I need to go there one way or another. If it’s negative, they’ll put the IUD in, and well if not…”
“And what if it’s not, prinsessa?”
You shrugged. You’d already made the decision that you weren’t going back to work. It had been a long talk with Jacob as he knew you had dreams for your career, but your dreams had changed. You no longer saw yourself wining and dining big names clients all to get them to fall in love with an ad campaign. The only thing you wanted to love was your husband and your baby, well children maybe. “Two under two is going to be a challenge,” you finally told him. “But I think we’re up for it. That is I am if you are?”
“Of course,” he said sweeping you up in his embrace. “I want to have dozens of babies with you.” You gave him that look. “Ok, not dozens…maybe half?” All you could do was shake your head at this man. You loved him so much how could you not want to give him more children.
“Well, we should probably get ready to head to the doctor’s office.”
Forty-five minutes later you were sitting on the exam table waiting for the results of your blood and urine tests, as Jacob held your five-month-old. When the door opened, he jumped up to be at your side. “Mr. and Mrs. Markstrom we have your results.” The doctor announced. “Looks like you’ll be welcoming another little bundle in nine months.” Jacob smiled and you did as well before kissing him. “I was thinking we could do a quick ultrasound to get a date for your new arrival.”
By your calculations, the new baby would be arriving close if not on Morelia’s birthday. “It should be close to June nineteenth,” you told the doctor.
“So, you two were planning this?” she asked.
“No,” you both said in unison causing her to laugh.
“I think there’s something in the water in Las Vegas,” Jacob joked, but in all seriousness, there seemed to be something about that place for you two.
The doctor started the internal sonogram, something you didn’t have to prepare Jacob for this time, as he was used to your appointments after Morelia. It took her a few moments and then you saw a little blob on the screen. “There we go, right there’s your little one.”
“We have another blueberry again,” Jacob announced before leaning down to kiss you, Morelia trying to grab at your necklace at the same time. “Easy little one. See that,” he told her. “That’s your little brother or sister in there.”
“Oh,” the doctor exclaimed and both of you turned to her. You’d only known for a solid three minutes that you having a baby and already you loved him or her just as much as Morelia. If something was wrong you didn’t know what you were going to do. “Hold on one second.” Jacob grabbed your hand instinctively with his free one. Both of you silently saying a prayer as you waited for the doctor. “Yes, yes it is.” The doctor explained more to herself than to either of you. “It looks like this one here, " she said looking at Morelia. "Is getting a two for deal.” Not quite understanding her meaning you gave her a curious look. “Oh sorry, I should’ve said that better, but you’re having twins.”
“Oh my god!” Jacob exclaimed, eyes round as silver dollars. It was the same look that you had. He looked down at you, almost expecting you to run. “We can do this.” He reassured you but you didn't need him to, for you already knew that together you could tackle anything.
“Oh I know,” you told him, for you were truly happy about both the babies. You couldn't wait to be Marskstrom party of five. “But we are never going to Vegas again.” You both erupted into laughter before finally letting your lips connect once again. It seemed as though some things were never meant to stay in Vegas and that was just fine with you.

Requested by @itsbadgerbadgermushroom:  Hi :) your writing is fab ☺ could you do some Jacob Markstrom floof where y/n and him have just got married and you've managed to steal a moment away from the party to take it all in? Keep up the good work <3
*Hiii!! Thank you so much! I’m sorry if this took a while. I’m really not confident about my writing right now but I hope you enjoy it all the same!”
Word count: 810
Tumblr media
Jacob gently closed the French doors leading back to the terrace, Johnny Stimson’s Honeymoon lightly filtering out. The wind is warm for a September night in Sweden, the night sky is clear and full of stars. This could not have been any more perfect.
Who would have thought that fifteen hours ago, you felt you won’t be able to get married because you were getting well-acquainted with the toilet bowl in your hotel room. Jacob was on the other end of the phone, in his own toilet, getting well-acquainted with his toilet bowl. You knew getting shitfaced drunk the night before your wedding was a bad idea.
You should’ve just eloped.
But this is perfect and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Leaning against the banister, you felt your husband wrap his big arms around you, pulling you close to his chest.
Husband. Wow. You still can’t wrap your head around the fact that you are now married to the funniest, kindest, most amazing man in the world.
“Dag ett,” he whispered against your ear, his 5 o’clock shadow tickling your neck.
Twisting until you can see each other eye to eye, you straightened his bowtie, “day one,” you agreed.
He straightened, pulling you flush against him. Jacob Märkstrom is a big guy. Big enough that even in your heels, your head barely reaches his chin.
You started to sway along to the music, his chin resting on the top of your head, “we got married,” he reminded.
You sniggered, “I think we did,” you said, hugging him tightly, “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“Hmm,” you felt him smile, “it’s not gonna be easy,” he lifted your chin so he can look at you, “men åtminstone kommer vi att vara tillsammans.”
At least we will be together.
Of course.
He smiled, “we can finally buy a house in Sigtuna or Trosa.”
“I’ve always loved Sigtuna and imagined living in Trosa,” you murmured, “we can live there during the off-season.”
“Ja,” he agreed, “they’re both small towns and we can raise our children there.”
Oh, wow. Children, “I’m gonna have children with you,” you told him, the reality of starting your own family finally setting in. You might have squealed a little, “you will be the best dad, babe.”
He grinned, “only because you’ll be the best mom,” he countered before sobering, “I’m going to be gone a lot.”
When your relationship started to progress, you and Jacob decided that you’d wait until after marriage to move in together. Not that it stopped you from sleeping at each other’s apartments but two weeks from now, after spending some time on your honeymoon, you will finally be able to say that you’re going home together. In the same house.
“It’s not like that’s something new, Jake,” you assured him, “I got it covered.”
Slowly, he leaned in and gave you a soft but lingering kiss, “I love you, Mrs. Märkstrom.”
You cupped his face with both your hands, keeping his face just a few inches away from yours, “jag älskar dig också,” you told him in his native language before repeating it in English, “I love you too but,” you tsked, “I’m hyphenating,” you smirked.
He guffawed, “I knew you would,” his eyes are bright and, despite the scruff, his dimples are showing.
Jacob turned you in his arms until you’re back to your original position: you, facing out of the balcony, him, hugging you tightly, your back against his hard chest. His hand is cradling your arm, and that’s when you noticed your new initials tattooed on his ring finger.
Tracing the letters and the still-angry skin, you looked up at him, “when did you get this?”
He gave a non-committal shrug, “eh.”
“Eh?”
“Got it this morning,” he smiled, “I can’t wear my wedding ring all the time but I want the reminder.”
You sniggered, “so you need a reminder?” you poked his chest, “already? We haven’t even been married for three hours.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he whispered, giving you another kiss and enveloping you into a big bear hug, “you and your sassy mouth.”
“Which you love,” you pointed out, hugging him back and melting into him.
“Which I love,” he agreed, pulling you in even more.
Sinking into his big, gigantic body is something you will never get tired of, his sandalwood and cinnamon scent something you will always look for.
“Thank you for doing this with me,” you told him, your voice muffled by his chest.
You felt his grip loosen before you’re looking up to his eyes once again, “are you kidding?” he frowned, “there’s no one I’d rather be married with,” he kissed the tip of your nose, “it’s you, babe.”
You poked the dimple on his right cheek, “good,” he grinned, “because you’re it for me too.”

"Eyes on me, sötnos."
100000/10
- snuck into the rink and got caught
- daddy didn't even stop
There's a chill embracing your shoulders as you lean against Jacob's bare chest. Even sitting in his lap, his body envelops you. You peak over your shoulder again, hands stilling against his broad shoulders.
"Are you sure that we're alone?" You inquire, eyes roaming the empty dressing room. Jacob huffs and leans back in his stall. His cock twitches inside you, a reminder that you're connected so intimately.
"There's no one here, min kärlek," Jacob brings his hand to your chin, gently guiding your eyesight back on the gorgeous man before you. His large hands find their way back to your hips, his head ducking down to your neck to bite the skin. "Get back to work."
His command is spoken with such authority, it sends shivers down your spine. You adjust your stance on the ground, using the new angle to push yourself up. Jacob lets out a growl as you fall back into his lap, the tip of his cock nudging your cervix.
You cry out, the girth of his length is overwhelming. "Daddy," you whine, legs not feeling like they can move anymore.
"I know, älskling, daddy's got you." His hands tighten around your waist and begin to pull you to him forcefully. His hips lift slightly from where he was sat like a king on his throne.
As he propels your body against him, you're lost in the pleasure. His lips pull one of your nipples into his mouth and you throw your head back. This new angle gives Jacob life, and he's thrusting even harder.
You focus on the wall behind you, the groans coming out of Jacob making you clench around him. It's then when you notice the figure standing behind you.
"Jacob," You stutter, eyes focused on the bleary outline. Jacob's movements freeze, hands gripping your hips. He looks up and smirks. The person steps into focus and you see Matthew Tkachuk staring at you in awe.
Jacob watches his teammate sit on the stall across the way before he adjusts his body and starts thrusting anew. You can't stop your head from turning to watch the curly-haired American as he pulls his cock out of his sweatpants.
"Eyes on me, sötnos," Jacob growls, pulling your focus back to him.
With his newfound audience, Jacob is even more ruthless. You have to wrap your arms around his upper body in order to hold on enough. His cock is repeatedly hitting your cervix and you want to cry from the intense pleasure.
"Daddy, please," you cry out. Jacob bites your shoulder, letting you know you can cum now.
He follows suit, breathing heavily as you rest against him. "Don't get too comfy, älskling, Matty is going to clean daddy's cum out of you."
"You want daddy to cum on your face?"
13456839348/10
- yes pls
- all I want in the world
His hand wrapped around your hair is the only thing stopping you from teasing Jacob. He'd had a rough game, his team had left him out to dry. He had come out of the dressing room with the frustration roughing off of him in silent waves.
Jacob had only kissed you before he found his way to the living room, planting himself in the armchair with a glass of whiskey in his hand. The only light in the room was the lamp beside him.
You'd had no qualms getting on your knees and crawling in front of him. Wasn't the first time and wouldn't be the last. He just watches you with hooded eyes, not moving at all as you undo his pants. His hand gathers your hair around his fist as you pull his cock out.
You lick your palm, grabbing his cock firmly. You squeeze his girth, your other hand coming to trace the tip of his cock. He lets out a breathy groan, letting you know his patience is wearing thin.
"I'm sorry you had a bad game, daddy," you pout your lips at him and pull on your best doe eyes. You keep one hand moving up and down his length as the other unbuttons your shirt.
His eyes darken at the sight of your exposed bra, you'd put his favourite red set on before the game, hoping for a better outcome.
Jacob's eyes bore down at you, he brings his whiskey to his lips and takes a slow sip. You lean forward, pressing a kiss against his exposed navel.
A soft breath escapes his mouth as you lick from his belly button to his shaft. He groans, and you take the chance to bring his length into your mouth. You let your tongue rest against him as your head moves towards his pelvis. The head of Jacob's cock reaches your throat and your eyes flutter shut as you work up and down his shaft.
His hands tightens around your hair, pulling you off his cock with an audible pop. His free hand sets his glass on the side table before stroking your cheek.
Jacob pulls your head back onto him, eyes shut tight and his head thrown back.
Your tongue traces the vein along his cock and you can feel the pulsing, he's close.
"You want daddy to cum on your face," Jacob growls, fist in your hair pulling you back away from him.
You nod frantically, hands falling to your side. He sits up straighter, legs spreading wider as his large hands work his equally large cock. The moans falling from his mouth start to get louder by the second until there's a string of cum landing on your face.
Your tongue falls from your mouth as more paints your face. You catch the tiniest bit and your eyes flutter shut at the salty taste.

227. I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor's Version) with Jacob Markstrom
Claudia's Debut Season of Heartfirst Writing
Tumblr media
"Thank you for showing me what it means for my heart to be outside of my body," the Instagram caption reads.
You nearly snort.
That was your caption. You used it first when you posted something in honor of Jacob's birthday. You know for a fact that he knows you used it first, and you know for a fact that he thought of you each moment he wrote that caption.
Normally, you don't stalk exes profiles, but when your friend told you that Jacob was engaged, you immediately when to his page to see what he posted. It was more so to prove to yourself you were over him and also because you were curious.
After reading the rest of the caption and some of the comments, you start to scroll through his more recent posts.
Oh, he was getting crafty with his captions. Many, no all, we're comments you put on his old posts. He deliberately sought out what comments you wrote and placed them as his captions.
Curious, you scroll to the fiancée's Instagram page. She was public, so you begin to look at her posts. Jacob's comments made you laugh out loud. Again, they were comments you used for him and your friends.
You were wholeheartedly over Jacob and working to start over, but the fact that this man couldn't get over you made you laugh. He was the one who ended the relationship, but you were still a figment of his mind. He still thought about you. He still longed for you. And based on what you've seen, he still wanted you.
Once upon a time, you thought you'd marry Jacob. That time has long since passed. Too bad Jacob didn't seem to recognize that. Something triumphant settled in your chest as you realized that Jacob was the happiest and most relaxed when he was with you. He'd never experience that with anyone else, so he thought about you and let you creep into his mind.
He thought about you, but you didn't think about him.

“Can you take more for me?”
You arched up towards Marky, your thighs spreading once again for him even though you’d been taking him all night. “I can’t,” you teased, even though you pulled him closer.
Jacob grunted, running his cock through your wetness. “Are you sure? You’ve been taking me soo good all night.”
Before you could respond, his lips claimed yours in a kiss that took your breath away. When Jacob let you catch your breath, you panted, “You’ve filled me so much, why?”
“Because I can’t wait to see how my girl’s belly grows with my seed.”

Jacob Markstrom- Baby Fever
Tumblr media
summary: Olivia’s sister has had a baby, and Olivia is obsessed (and so is Jacob)
warnings: fluff... jacob being obsessed with his girl
“Jacob!” Olivia squealed as her Fiance walked through the front door.
“What!” he yelled to the kitchen as he pulled off his shoes and gave Mickey, their golden retriever a pat before heading to the kitchen where he heard Olivia moving around.
“What’s wrong,” he asked immediately as he saw the room. There were two bags on the counter, and three racks of cookies baking, all signs that Olivia was stressing out.
“Lydia had the baby!” Olivia turned to him and beamed, settling the man’s heart a little as he grinned back. “We have a nephew!”
“That’s amazing alskling,” he walked over and wrapped his arms around her apron covered waist. “When can we see them?”
“They get to come home tomorrow,” she melted into his embrace. “I want to go to the store and get a bunch of food to make for them. Can you come with me after morning practice?”
“Of course I can baby,” he murmured as he leaned down to kiss her.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Knock, knock!” Olivia whisper shouted as she opened her sister Lydia and her husband Kevin’s front door. Her sister had expressly told her to not ring the doorbell, so Olivia and Jacob were creeping through the house to find the new parents.
“Hey Liv,” Lydia grinned tiredly from the couch where she had a blue bundle on her chest.
“Oh hi honey,” Olivia already had tears in her eyes as she leaned into Jacob slightly before reaching out to hug the standing Kevin. “Congrats dad!”
“Thanks Liv,” he chuckled as he reached out to accept Jacob’s back pounding hug, before the brunette unloaded the bags the couple had brought with them to the new family’s home.
“Olivia, meet Matthew Lucas,” Lydia grinned as she placed her son in Olivia’s waiting arms. Jacob’s stomach dropped as he watched the scene, and it suddenly changed in front of him.
Now he saw Olivia cradling a little boy with her red locks and his eyes. Their baby.
He snapped out of it when he heard Olivia make little shushing sounds as she walked over to him. “Jacob, meet your nephew.”
“Hello there,” he whispered as he looked into Matthew’s light eyes. The boy puckered his lips up at him before leaning further into Olivia, who adjusted him easily. The couple joined Lydia and Kevin in the living room, sitting on the love seat with Matthew still snuggled in with Olivia and Jacob watching them in awe.
“Do you guys need to shower or anything while we have him?” Olivia asked as Matthew closed his eyes for a little nap. The parent’s nodded thankfully, heading upstairs for a shower and probable nap of their own.
“Looks good,” Jacob said absentmindedly as he peered over Olivia’s shoulder.
“Hmm?” she hummed, turning to him.
“A baby,” he whispered, watching her face as her eyes briefly widened in shock. “Might need to have one of those sooner rather than later.”
The two of you had talked about kids of course, but the idea had been to wait for the wedding and to have some time together before starting their family.
“I thought we said we would wait?” Olivia looked up at him through her lashes.
“I want to have a family together, whether that’s tomorrow or in ten years,” he pressed his forehead to hers. “But you holding a baby makes me want to do some things I can’t talk about in front of tiny ears.”
“Jacob!” Olivia gasped with a giggle as she tried to ignore the glint in his eyes. “Maybe tonight, we can work on that. If that’s what we want.”
“I just want a little horde of mini you’s running around,” he murmured as he leaned over to press a long kiss to her lips. They were interrupted by a tiny arm smacking at Olivia’s chest.
Looking at the little boy, Matthew’s lips were puckering, clearly looking for a snack as he mouthed at Olivia’s chest yet.
“Listen little guy,” Jacob said seriously as Olivia handed the baby over so she could grab a bottle. “Those are not on loan to any little beings yet, so paws off.”

April 6th, 2019
Jacob walked into Vancouver General Hospital with his hands balled nervously into fists. After the phone call with Geneviève – which he’d never forget for the rest of his life – he’d boarded a chartered flight with the rest of the Vancouver Canucks back to Vancouver. They’d already played their last home game of the season a few days ago, and had to finish up the two road games to officially end their season. He thought back to the home closer, which Geneviève attended with so many other of the wives and girlfriends. She’d seemed so happy. Jacob was killing himself trying to look for signs retroactively, but there was no use. She’d been smiling and laughing with Grace, Svea, and Holly the entire time. Now, he knew that deep down, despite the happy exterior, she was suffering. He should have known better.
He made his own way into the psychiatric ward, where she was being placed on a 72-hour hold. This was standard procedure. Jacob knew it all too well from the last time this happened. She’d have to be evaluated by a psychiatrist to make sure she wouldn’t be a harm to herself or others before she could be let go.
He signed in with the front desk and the receptionist began leading him through the ward. Geneviève was in a private room. He was told she’d been reading from the library the entire time thus far, which was typical of her. Her phone had been confiscated. The psychiatrist allowed her to wear her regular clothes, but she’d change into scrubs during laundry time. She’d let everyone know she was in there because she couldn’t get pregnant. Some of the women, in particular, felt for her.
When the door was opened for him, he saw Geneviève sitting on her bed, with her back against the simple headboard. “Ge-ne-veeeeeeeev, you have a visitor,” the receptionist smiled, pronouncing her name wrong. “The door will have to remain open,” she said to Jacob before nodding once and slipping out of the room.
Geneviève watched as Jacob made his way over, sitting on the edge of her bed. “Hi sötnos,” he whispered softly, placing his left hand on the other side of her legs, then lowering slightly.
“You came for a visit,” Geneviève said, laying her hand on his arm.
Jacob furrowed his brows slightly. “G, I’m your husband. Obviously I’m going to come visit you.”
“I thought when you got home, you’d see the divorce papers on the counter and sign them.”
Jacob shook his head. “I haven’t been home. I gave my suitcase to Alex and told him to bring it to our place, that I had to be somewhere.”
“So you haven’t been home yet?”
“No.”
They sat in silence for a moment. Geneviève tried to think about what it must have been like for Jacob to get a call from her like that when he was all the way in Florida, and how it probably kept him up all night and took years off his life due to stress. All she did was scare and hurt him. Yet he was still here, visiting her before he even went home. She reached for his other hand and grabbed it, holding it in both of hers. “I’m so sorry,” she whispered.
“You need to stop apologizing to me,” he said. “There’s no reason to feel sorry about this. I’d rather you be here than suffering alone at home.”
“I never wanted to end up back in this situation. Not after what happened last time. Not after how much I hurt you,” she said.
“Stop putting the focus on me,” Jacob said, squeezing her hand gently. “This isn’t about me. This is about you getting better, about us working through this again. When did it start getting bad for you again?”
Geneviève knew she had to be honest – this was her husband, and she couldn’t lie to her husband – but she knew that she’d get emotional admitting everything to him. She wanted to keep and bottle all of it up inside, but that’s what led to this situation anyway. “A couple of months ago,” she began, her lips already beginning to quiver. “I’d say after the new year.”
After the new year? So more than just a couple of months. But Jacob knew exactly what caused it – well, at least the two biggest things. “So after the fourth time it didn’t take,” he said.
Geneviève nodded her head. “And after Christmas with my brother.” Jacob nodded his head, waiting for Geneviève to continue. “My brother was such a fucking asshole that Christmas. He—he waited until you were playing with the kids, and then he brought me to our bedroom and he—he just—”
“What did he say?” Jacob asked, ready to fly to Berlin to kill him.
“He—he said to me, ‘You gave up being a countess for this’,” she tried mimicking her brother. “He was just so mean about it. No remorse. He wanted to hurt me and he did, he knew he did. I don’t even know why he came all the way to Vancouver for Christmas if he was just going to say that to me and tell me how he’s still disappointed in me.”
Well, Jacob knew who was going to get a piece of his mind the next time he was alone and with a phone, which was probably going to be right after he left the hospital. This wasn’t the first time Jacob would have to defend his wife, and he knew it wouldn’t be his last. It also wasn’t the first time Jacob would have to defend his wife from her own family. But he tried not to think about it. “Sötnos, you know how your family is—”
“Please don’t tell them I’m back in here,” she whimpered.
“Shhhh shhh shhh shhh, I won’t,” he whispered, leaning forward so he could give her a quick kiss. “I would never, unless you told me to. Nobody has to know besides us, unless you want them to know.”
Geneviève licked her lips after Jacob kissed her. She loved her husband’s kisses; adored them. She had since they first kissed three years ago. She felt that every time they kissed, Jacob gave a little bit of himself to her. She knew she gave a little bit of herself to him. She sighed. “My brother’s not even—it’s not the biggest—Jacob…” she began to cry again. “Jacob, why can’t I get pregnant with our baby?”
She began to sob, and Jacob didn’t bother answering her. Instead, he engulfed her in his arms, hugging her against his chest as she sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. He let her, because he knew she needed it, even though he knew she’d probably done a lot of secret crying and crying when he was on the road trip when he couldn’t see her. He let himself cry too, knowing how much pain it caused his wife. When they met, Geneviève expressed to him that she didn’t see herself having children, but that when she met him, she only wanted children with him. It was very specific. She only wanted his children. And he agreed – he couldn’t see anyone else being the mother to his children, so the feeling was mutual. But when they began trying, there were infertility issues, and those infertility issues led them to all kinds of help, the most recent being in-vitro fertilization. Geneviève wanted children so badly with him that she was putting her body through hell to be able to have children. But it didn’t seem like the IVF was working. Five times now, it didn’t take. They weren’t successful.
But Geneviève put all the blame on herself.
“I still have hope, G,” he whispered, still holding her in his arms. “Why didn’t you tell me it was getting bad again?”
She pushed away gently to look at him. “Do you regret marrying me?”
“Never,” Jacob answered instantly. He didn’t need to think about it, because there was nothing to think about. “Never. I—why would you ask that? Do you regret marrying me?”
“No no no. Never,” she shook her head vigorously. “Not in a billion years. But I don’t understand how you could stay when all I do is hurt you. When I can’t give you what you want.”
“What did we tell each other at the beginning, hmm? Remember we told each other that we can’t see ourselves doing this with anybody else in the world?” Jacob asked. Geneviève nodded her head. “That’s still the same for me, sötnos. I’m here through thick and thin. I don’t want to be with anyone else but you.”
“But I can’t give you what you want,” she repeated.
“It’ll happen one day, G,” he said. Maybe he was an eternal optimist, but optimism is what they needed at the moment. They needed it more than anything. “Right now it’s tragedy after tragedy, but it will happen for us one day.”
Tears escaped Geneviève’s eyes again, and she leaned her head against Jacob’s chest, crying silently as he wrapped his arms around her again. “I don’t deserve you,” she whispered after a while.
“Stop saying that.”
“You don’t deserve a wife who’s in a mental hospital.”
“We were made for each other, G. Remember that. It’s somewhere in your head and it’s hard to find right now, but it’s in there. We were made for each other.”
***
When Jacob was back in the privacy of his and Geneviève’s large, penthouse apartment in downtown Vancouver, he thought about the life he made with her here. Their kitchen, filled with bits and bobs from their travels – shot glasses from every city or country they’d been to, souvenirs friends had bought them, bakeware and other kitchen necessities they’d received as gifts. Their living room, with a giant, comfy sectional couch that held an abundance of warm, soft, cozy blankets that they cuddled under whenever they could. Their second bedroom, Geneviève’s de-facto office, where she ran her magazine, Atomic, as the editor-in-chief, and did all of her other work – guest appearances, talk-shows, essay writing. Their bedroom, designed by Geneviève, with big fluffy pillows and a soft duvet they always held each other under. He checked the master ensuite and saw multiple pregnancy tests in the garbage. He checked her desktop Mac to see she’d cancelled work events and meetings in her calendar. He saw a couple hundred unread notifications over her messages, Instagram, and email, since they’d taken her phone away in the psychiatric ward.
Jacob sat on the edge of their bed and took his phone out of his pocket to make a phone call. He didn’t care how late in the night it was in Berlin.
“Hello?” Maxim Monette’s sleepy voice answered the phone. Jacob had done the math while the phone was ringing and realized it was 3:30 in the morning in Berlin.
“How dare you talk to your sister like you did over Christmas,” Jacob spat into the phone. He hardly ever got angry, especially outside of hockey, but this warranted him getting angry.
“J—Jacob?”
“She told me what you said to her on Christmas. How fucking dare you,” Jacob went on. “We’ve been married for two years now, Maxim. You know what she went through—”
“Jacob, I—”
“Don’t fucking interrupt me,” he raised his voice. “I don’t know what the deal is between you and your brother but I love your sister and you refuse to accept that, and then you go and say things to her like ‘You gave up being a countess for this’? How fucking dare you!”
“Ja—”
“Don’t you ever speak to your sister like that again, or I swear to God Maxim I will make your life more of a living hell than you make your sister’s,” he threatened before hanging up.

could you do #18 fluff and #12 smut with matthew tkachuk? thank uuu
i figured now is the best time to do this, since it is his birthday!
prompts: "we fit so perfectly together" & "i'll never get enough of you"
contains: smut (18+ MINORS DNI!), oral sex, cuss words, fluff, fem reader, established relationship
Tumblr media
"come on, birthday boy, i have one more surprise for you." you gave matthew a sly smile, pulling him toward your apartment door. he was spending the day with you until he absolutely had to get ready to leave for the arena. and eventually when the game was over, he would then come back to your place too. insisting that "your place is closer anyway" when it really wasn't. but- you were not going to argue with him.
"what else could you possibly have for me?" he asked, holding onto your hand while he walked with you down the hall and then into your cozy home. he was patiently waiting whatever was behind your door, pondering what it could be. you had already taken him out for brunch, went on a museum date, you took matthew to the movies, and then now here you are at your place with a couple hours to spare before he has to leave for his game.
"well," he follows you like a puppy into your kitchen where he sees some gifts on the island, some wrapped and some in a bag with tissue paper spilling out of the top. "i have presents! these don't count for christmas, by the way."
he giggled and pulled you in for a hug, wrapping his arms around your body and kissing the side of your head. he swayed back and forth with you, having a smile on his face. "are all of these from you?" he asked, still standing with his arms around you.
you shook your head, "no, those two right there are from your parents, and then this one is from monica. she wanted to give it to you in person, but she had a last minute work fiasco." monica was a mutual friend of yours and matthew, being the one who introduced matthew to you.
he stood there staring at everything on the island, and he was in total awe of everything you had done for him. his heart was filled with love, thanking whoever above for allowing him to have such a loving girlfriend. oh, and monica too.
"aren't you gonna open them?" you asked, pulling away from him a little bit and looking up in his eyes. he smirked, sliding his hands underneath your sweater and pulling you closer to his body by your hips. immediately, you knew what was on his mind. "mmm, i wanna open something else right now."
you rolled your eyes at his words, chuckling and letting him hold you close. "you're so cheesy," matthew laughed and pulled you through your apartment; but before you left the kitchen you grabbed the smallest present off of the counter, knowing this would be the perfect time to give it to him.
the box was no bigger than the size of a thank you card. wrapped in birthday themed wrapping paper with a gold bow on top, it seemed innocent. but the contents of the box certainly wasn't.
entering your bedroom he backs you up on your bed, placing his hands on either side of you on the bed, leaning down to kiss your lips softly. his hands slipped underneath your sweater as he pushed you further back on the bed. you toed your shoes off when matthew started to toy with the band of your jeans, unbuttoning them and sliding them down your legs. "wait wait," you stopped him, causing matthew to immediately remove his hands from your body and standing up straight.
"everything okay?" he asked, a worried look on his face as you sat up straight and moved to sit on your knees. you nodded your head and held the box in front of him with an innocent smirk on your face.
"yeah, but i want you to at least open this one right now." with a hesitant look but eager hands he took the small lid off the box. expecting a bracelet or, maybe even a condom, he was greeted with intimate polaroids of you. he tossed the lid behind him on the ground making you laugh.
taking the photos out of the box he skimmed them over, looking at the rather naughty photos of you. in some you were wearing lingerie, in some you were wearing one of his t shirts or even his jersey, and some you were fully nude. this present is already his favorite.
your hands started to pull on the buttons of matthews jeans, unzipping them an slowly pulling them down his legs. he helped you out, but he was still focused on the pictures. you palmed his hard on over the material of his briefs- which did nothing to hide his erection.
"do you like your present baby?" you asked, your voice coated with innocence and it made matthew shamelessly harder than he already was. pulling down the band of his briefs painfully slow his cock finally sprang free. he moaned and nodded his head, watching you with eye contact as you licked a thick stripe up the side of his cock. "mhmm, i do, thank you baby."
before you started to suck him, you reached onto the bedside table and grabbed your grey polaroid camera and handed it to him. "there's only four more film in there, make them count." you said while handing the camera to him.
he smirked and watched as you salivated your tongue and took him in your mouth fully, flattening your tongue and taking him all the way to the back of your throat. he leaned his head back and moaned, resting his hand on the side of your head.
you now scooted back on the bed, dipping your back so that your ass is now in the air. your hands gently gripping his thick thighs as you slowly started to bob your head back and forth on his cock, pulling your head back far enough so that you could vigorously suck on his tip. that motion always caused him to make the most gorgeous moans that you've ever heard, and a string of curses to leave his lips.
as you start to make your movements faster, closing your eyes and focusing on making matthew feel good, he pulls your head back by your hair and lets his cock fall out of your mouth with a pop. "i wanna cum in you, sweetheart. s' that alright with you?"
you bit your lip and grinned, pulling the sweater over your head to reveal a red lacy bra that you've only wore a handful of times. he growled and snickered, "that's my favorite one," he mumbled, setting the camera on the bed next to you he leans down, pressing a wet kiss between your breasts.
pulling your panties off and tossing them to the floor, taking his hoodie off so that he was completely naked, matthew raised up and lined himself up with your entrance. slowly but surely he entered inside you, watching your reaction as you arched your back and closed your eyes. grabbing the camera he pulled out just a little, then snapped a picture of himself sliding inside you. "fuck princess, we fit so perfectly together, don't we?"
you moaned and nodded your head, facing toward him so that your lips could connect with his. he started to thrust in and out of you at a slow pace at first, letting you get adjusted to the feeling. matthews hands were all over your body it felt like, you could feel him everywhere.
"matty you feel so fucking good," you moaned when he started to thrust faster. your nails were scratching down his back and your fingers were gripping his hair, wanting to feel him as close as possible.
your walls began to tighten around his dick, making him moan and slam into you in reaction. "fuck i'm gonna cum," you mumbled, your mind cloudy and heart racing with anticipation of what his body can do to yours.
"me too baby, fuck i'll never get enough of you." his words make you blush and grin. one thing you could always count on is that he was never shy with his words. he always said what he was feeling and you knew he meant it.
he sped up his pace and before you knew it you were cumming on him, your nails digging into his shoulders as he buried his face in your neck. a couple more thrusts later matthew was spilling himself inside you, moaning into your shoulder as he got the release he had been waiting for.
"fuck," he sighed, moving his head and leaving kisses all over your body. with a quick moved he flipped over onto his back, still inside you while you were now on top of him. you chuckled and connected your lips with his. he looked over at the clock on the bedside table, "i have about thirty more minutes."
"there's a lot we can do in thirty minutes." you said with a suggestive smile. he chuckled and sat up against the pillows, his hands on your hips and his eyes locked in on yours. "want me to ride you?" you asked, knowing he would have been too shy to ask it.
"well since you offered, by all means." you giggled and kissed him again, his hands tracing the material of your bralette. he pulled down the bra so that your breasts were fully exposed and smiled innocently, like it was his first time seeing them.
he reached over and grabbed the polaroid, "smile for me," you did as told and gave the camera a grin and when the picture came out of the top he set the picture on the nightstand with the other one. "happy birthday to me."

On Christmas, you tell the truth 2/2 - Matthew Tkachuk
part one
-
Tumblr media
March 22, 2021
Twenty-four had passed since you got wind of the cancellation, on Matthew’s behalf, but you couldn’t bring yourself to truly look into it–until now. As the owner of the business and the ex-girlfriend, avoiding the emails from Matthew’s disgruntled bride wasn’t going to be an option forever.
“You’re not going to enjoy this,” Avery hovered in the door with a frown on her face, “I didn’t personally meet her for consults, but I know already that she’s not nice. Those emails are fucking cruel.”
“Is that why you’re trying to hide a bottle of Fireball behind your back? Do you think I'll need it?”
“Yes,” she crossed the threshold of the door and pulled a chair around your desk to sit next to you, “you’re definitely going to need something to take the edge off.”
“Open the first one.”
Subject: BITCH
“Open the second one.”
Subject: You’re fucking ruining everything
“The third?”
Subject: I fucking hate you
“Well,” you ran a hand down your face, “these are just fucking great. Open the fucking fourth one, Avery.”
“You sure? This one is the worst.”
“Yeah,” you replied with an eye roll, “why the fuck not?”
“You’ll see, but here we go.”
Subject: this is all your fault
You hadn’t bothered to read the body of most of the messages, instead deciding to skim them, because all this woman wanted to do was throw insults in your direction. This last message she sent, for whatever reason, you decided to read.
Body: This was his idea. I didn’t want you anywhere near my wedding and I definitely, DEFINITELY didn’t want you planning it. I know what I did to you, I don’t regret it because it brought me Matthew, but I am sorry for destroying your relationship.
I guess this is my karma. I know what is being said and that i’m being made to look like the villain here. Honest to fucking everything, I never cheated on Matthew. I loved him. I love him. I’m not sure how much the two of you are actually speaking, he makes it seem like it is often, but we didn’t end our engagement because of me. He ended our engagement because of you.
“Holy fuck, Avery, how was that one the worst?”
“He’s spreading lies. If he still wanted to be with you, why wouldn’t he just break up with her? Why start rumors she’s cheating and do all of this extra bullshit?”
“We don’t know how true this is. She could be lying too.”
“Yes, obviously, of course she could be lying. Why though?”
“I don’t know,” you took the full shot glass between your thumb and pointer finger and threw back the cinnamon whisky, “maybe she’s trying to save face?”
“Maybe. We can ask her if you want.”
“You mean send an email?”
“No, I mean meet in person and ask.”

“Thanks for meeting me, I didn’t think you would.”
“I didn’t think I would either, honestly. My name’s Kathryn, I’m sure you know that though, based on the wedding stuff and all.”
“Kathryn, it’s nice to meet you. I wish it were under better circumstances.”
“Me too.”
You spent several hours sipping coffee across from her as the both of you told your side of the story and compared notes. Matthew told Kathryn your relationship had been on the rocks for months when they met and that his proposal to you wasn’t real. It wasn’t until she saw you on New Year’s Eve that she realized you weren’t the problem.
“The look in your eyes and the hurt in your voice was legitimate. I don’t even need to know you to know that. I wish I hadn’t played into it.”
“You didn’t know.”
“I kind of did though. I had a feeling he was being deceitful and I ignored it because I wanted him. God, I was so infatuated with that man.”
“I was too.”
“Well,” she sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of her nose, “I guess we both lost in the end.”
Something about those words had you working yourself into a tantrum. Matthew Tkachuk had done a number on you and it sounded like he did the same thing to Kathryn too. All the two of you had done was love the fucking man, so why should you punish each other for Matthew’s chaos?

March 30, 2021
He was nervous, for the first time in a long time, because he had fucked up.
He had fucked up so hard that he hadn’t just broken the heart of one person, he’d broken the heart of three: the woman he loved, and Kathryn, and himself.
“Hi, yes, i’m here to see the owner.”
“Are you Matthew?”
“I am, yes.”
The mood of the secretary sitting at the front desk instantly soured at the sound of his name but he understood. This was her company, and looking around the place, she did a damn good job of carving a place in the industry for herself.
“Give her a few minutes, she’ll be out when she has time.”
‘When she has time’, Matthew chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. She always used to have time for him. That was the past though.
He waited over twenty minutes and it annoyed him.
“Wipe that irritated look off your face, Tkachuk. You didn’t have to wait that long.”
***
“Wipe that irritated look off your face, Tkachuk. You didn’t have to wait that long.”
You were willing your knees not to shake and your bottom lip not to quiver because here he fucking was. The man you planned on spending the rest of your life with, the same one who broke your heart in a majorly devastating way before very publicly flaunting it in your face, was only a few feet away.
You wanted nothing more than to rip him to fucking shreds.
“We can talk in my office.”
“Your office, eh? Fancy.”
“Shut up.”
“Sorry, sorry,” he raised his hands in defense but the stupid smirk plastered on his face let you know he wasn’t serious.
“Sit down there, we should talk.”
“Yeah, probably, I assume you’re wondering why I cancelled my wedding plans with your company.”
“Oh, no Matthew, I'm not wondering at all. I spoke with Kathryn.”
His entire demeanor changed in less than a second.
“What? Why?”
“You might have been the one footing the bill but Kathryn was the one we were talking to.”
“I was the one that put a stop to all of the payments. She is irrelevant.”
“She is your ex fiancee.”
Matthew was out of the chair and pacing back and forth in your small office as he tugged at his curls.
“So what? So are you.”
You were more than ready to confront Matthew with Kathryns’s emails, especially that last one she sent. You even had them printed out face down on your desk, ready to provide proof if necessary.
The last thing you expected was for Matthew to acknowledge your past. It threw you for a loop, but you recovered quickly.
“You’re right, I am one of them. You give out rings like they’re participation prizes. This isn’t about me, Matthew, it’s about Kathryn and your current situation.”
“My god, what situation?! It’s pretty cut and dry here. I broke up with her because she cheated on me.”
Your hands were shaking as you picked up the stack and papers and thumbed through the pages until you landed on the final email from Kathryn.
The tension in the room was thick but you pushed through it and set the paper down on your desk for Matthew to see, “that’s not what she says.”

“She’s lying.”
“Why would she lie?”
“She’s hurt? I don’t know. She’s lying. I swear on Apollo.”
The first meeting you had with Matthew in months had ended abruptly when Avery burst into your office, interrupting your conversation, and said you needed to get to the venue as soon as possible.
***
“I’ll see myself out.”
“Yeah, that’s fine, but we’re not done talking, Matt.”
“I wholeheartedly agree. Let’s meet in the next few days?”
“Sure. Text me if you still have my number, send an email if you don’t.”
You couldn’t stop yourself from getting a little bit excited when Matthew texted you an hour later asking to meet at a nearby Starbucks in the next few days.
***
“Don’t ever swear on my son, Matthew. Speaking of, I want to see him.”
“You can’t.”
“I can’t?! Don’t fucking tell me you gave him away or surrendered him to a shelter! I will fuc-”
“Easy killer,” Matthew interrupted, “he’s living the good life at my place. Normally i’d have no problem bringing you to see him but my mom’s staying with me for the next few days.”
He trailed off, focusing his eyes on the coffee in the mug in front of him. You understood what he was trying to say. Matthew had no problem letting you see your dog, but he definitely had a problem with you seeing his mother.
“I get it, soon though?”
“Soon, I promise.”
The look he was giving you was one you hadn’t seen in quite some time. You wanted to melt into it, and into him, but you knew better. Kathryn and probably a few others had seen that same expression and felt that same way. Matthew Tkachuk was definitely a charmer.
“Back to Kathryn,” you interrupted the moment and took a big sip of your coffee, “I believe her Matthew.”
“You can do that if you want. She did cheat.”
“With who?”
“I don’t know.”
“How do you know she cheated?”
“I just know. Trust me.”
“Matthew, really? Trust you? No.”

The squeal that passed your lips was annoying high pitched but you couldn’t help it. Your big baby, Apollo, was running as fast as he could in your direction.
“Baby A, I have missed you so much!”
You dropped to the ground and let him jump all over you and give you kisses. Matthew was obviously there, having been the one that brought Apollo to the dog park, but you didn’t see who else had come with him.
“I’ve missed this, Matthew.”
The sound of Chantal Tkachuk’s voice filled your head while you tried to calm Apollo down. Matthew made it clear he didn’t want you to see here, so what was she doing here?
“Hi,” you stumbled over your words, “I wasn’t expecting to ever see you again.”
“I thought the same but i’m glad I was wrong. Come here,” she pulled you into a hug while you bit your lip to keep your emotions in check, “I have missed you so much.”
“Oh my, I have missed you too!”
Matthew held onto Apollo’s leash while you walked alongside Chantal. This particular moment wasn’t something you thought you would ever experience but you were more than grateful for the opportunity.
“My son has done plenty of shitty things,” you chuckled at her candidness, “but letting you go was his worst.”
“He found someone that he felt solid feelings for. I’m not mad, I get it.”
“I am mad, though. Kathryn is a wonderful human but i’m not going to lie to anyone, he was never in love with her.”
“He was pretty solid about his love on New Year’s. I made an absolute fool of myself, I’m sure Brady told you.”
“He told me you stood up for yourself. I love my son but i’m not proud of how he handled the end of your relationship.”
“I could’ve handled it better, too.”
You dropped into a bench next to Chantal and Apollo was quick to jump in your lap.
“Hi bud,” you cooed at your dog and rubbed the sweet spot between his ears, “i’ve missed you so much.”
***
“Look at her, Matthew,” his mother bumped his shoulder as the two of them looked at the girl and her dog, “bring her home.”
“That’s the plan.”
“It’s not going to be easy.”
“You’re right, mom, it’s not going to be easy.”

April 27, 2021
“I’m here to see the owner.”
“Do you have a problem?”
“No, I just want to drop off coffee for her.”
Matthew had been bringing your coffee order, a grande iced latte with two pumps of toffee nut and soy milk, for the past few days and you couldn’t figure out why.
What the hell did he want?
***

“I’m trying to be your friend.”
“I’ve gathered that. This is, like, the tenth coffee you’ve dropped off for me of late.”
“So, you’re down to try and be friends?”
Every emotional part of you was dying to make peace with Matthew but you knew better, and you knew Kathryn, and he still had yet to say a word about her.
“We can be friends when you’re ready to talk about the last woman you left in the dust.”
You weren’t trying to hurt him, not really, but if bringing up her name made him feel bad, well, that wasn’t your problem.

“I’ll leave Apollo with you tonight if you promise not to bring her up again.”
“Don’t manipulate my actions using my son, Matthew. Apollo is coming with me tonight, I will leave the Kathryn situation alone for now.”
“I will accept that.”
“Of course you will, he misses the fuck out of me.”
The relationship between you and Matthew had been built on incredibly shaky ground but things were going good, for now, and you didn’t want to interrupt that.
“I guess you can take him,” Matthew chuckled as he handed Apollo’s leash to you, “I have plans anyway.”
“Plans? Please don’t tell me you’re working on your third wifey.”
“You would never let me call you ‘wifey’ in any situation ever, so consider this one my second.”
The two of you laughed together as Matthew left Apollo’s leash in your hands, not realizing he was taking your heart with him.
You knew better, because Matthew Tkachuk was never going to settle down with anyone, but seeing him leave in search of another woman still had you had tripping over yourself as your heart slowly shattered.

“Please tell me you have a plan?”
“I always have a plan, Marky.”
You weren’t sure when you: got over Matthew, got introduced to Jacob Markstrom, and got together with him but you knew that you were happier than you’d ever been.
“Share with the class, if you don’t mind?”
“Shut up,” you playfully punched him in the shoulder, “he’s going to like this one.”
“Probably,” Jacob sighed as he pulled you into his chest and pressed a kiss to your forehead.
“Hopefully.”

No one was wrong, because Matthew was very much into the woman you brought into his life. She was damn near perfect in every way. Almost.
She wasn’t you.

“Go get your mom, Poly, go get her!”
A solid friendship had developed between you and Matthew over the last year. You had a mutual love and respect for each other and your custody over Apollo was 50/50.
The mood in your house had been off the past few days but you ignored it. Christmas was a stressful time of year.
Something legitimate was happening right in front of you.
“I don’t love this,” Matthew pressed a kiss to your cheek, “but it’s not up to me.”
Jacob Markstrom dropped to one knee and presented you with the most beautiful ring you could imagine.
“Yes, a thousand times, yes!”

What the fuck?! You had no idea where it all went wrong. Right?

For your blurb weekend, Jacob Markstrom with 63 please
Tumblr media
Happy blurb weekend!
I’m walking home from the bar and it’s snowing and you see me trying to catch snowflakes on my tongue
WC: 821
Warnings: Swearing
You check the time on your phone, trying to run as fast as you could through the subway halls to make your train. You had two minutes before your train was supposed to arrive. Either that, or you had two minutes before it was supposed to leave. You really had no idea what the time meant since the label for it just said “time,” because why should anything be clearly labeled?
Getting to your train was not done without crashing into a few people on the way, definitely spilled a drink or two all over the ground. It wasn’t entirely your fault, they saw someone running for their life and still decided to just stand in the way. If your train had left without you, you’d try to find them to get them another. If.
One minute left, you were sure you were so far from the platform that you weren’t going to make it. You really didn’t want to walk home if you didn’t have to, given that it was supposed to start snowing any second, but you guess if you had to, you could. You could see the train, the doors still open. Your phone flashed the same time on the board, but you were hoping this was the one time the train wasn’t running on schedule.
You could see the doors starting to close, you just far enough away and not fast enough to make it, hitting the train as soon as the door shut. “Fuck!” you yell, your hands slamming on the glass of the door, the passengers of the train staring at you with a mixture of sympathy and no cares given to your missing your train.
“Fucking hell,” you hear someone mutter, turning to see a guy, about your age, doing the same as you, the train pulling away and leaving you alone, standing on the platform form waiting for the next one. “Any idea how long it’ll be until it comes back?” he asks, some sort of European accent that you couldn’t quite place coming from him.
You shake your head, pulling out your phone to look. It was getting late enough that you knew it would be a while, you were just hoping it wasn’t going to be a long one. You were wrong. “An hour and a half,” you groan. He lets out one that matched yours, both of you stuck on the platform. “I’m just going to walk,” you tell the stranger, turning on your heels and leaving.
The walk would be shorter than waiting, no doubt, just much, much colder given that it was below freezing out, the threat of snow looming over you. You made a little bit of an effort to find the people whose drinks you spilled, knowing you would be unsuccessful, but hey, you tried.
The cold wind hit your face as soon as you reached the outside, stinging your cheeks with every step you took. You knew the snow had to be starting soon, just hoping that you would get inside before it did. The city was still busy, lights everywhere, the shops and restaurants full of people, packed in tight, laughing, talking, enjoying their time together.
You keep walking, not a care in the world, the snow just starting to fall. You were standing under a single street light, no one else on the street with you as it came down harder, the flakes melting as soon as they hit you. You tilt your head up, your eyes closed as you let the cold snow hit your cheeks. You stick your tongue out, trying to catch the flakes.
Despite how much snow was falling, you were unsuccessful at catching any snow, but it didn’t matter. You open your eyes, a smile on your face from the moment when you see the stranger from the train standing there, a smile on his face as he stared.
“Uh, sorry,” he said, approaching you. “I didn’t mean to follow you, but I guess if we’re both heading home, we live in the same direction? I’m Jacob.” You introduce yourself, agreeing to walk with him as far as you could. The street and shops on it were long enough that if he tried anything, you could run in somewhere for help. “You looked like you were having fun.”
You let out a small laugh, slightly embarrassed that he saw you do that. “I didn’t think anyone was watching.”
“Would that have stopped you?”
You thought for a moment. “I think so.”
“That’s dumb,” he tells you, “Come on.” He takes your hand and veers you off the path. He stands there, facing you, turning his face to the sky and sticking his tongue out.
You couldn’t help but let out a laugh at him. “Is that what I looked like when I did it?”
Jacob looks back at you, a smile on his face. “You definitely looked better.”
