"you're the real thing" | poetic prompts | warnings: none
everything moved so fast. like a race car headed a hundred miles an hour, no brakes, no stops for repairs. love confessions spilled off the tongues of lovers within two weeks of dating, or knowing each other, and a month in he's already asking what kind of engagement ring she would want.
nico matched with her on tinder, and shamelessly he stalked her instagram page. watching her story highlights, and he even watched a couple tik toks she posted. he fell in love, and he fell hard. he, at least on paper, had so much in common with her. he couldn't wait to make that date. she fell just as hard, from the moment their eyes met and they exchanged a warm greeting smile she knew. she knew she was going to be in love with this man, and she didn't even know his middle name.
he said he loved her when he dropped her off on her front porch after the fourth date in two weeks. he didn't miss the way she hugged his chest tighter when the words slipped out of his mouth, and how he felt her trace the shape of a heart on his back with her delicate fingers. she said it back after giving him a kiss - their first kiss, and that's the closest he's come to his heart exploding, he thinks.
a month into dating he's sure that he wants to marry her and keep her close forever. maybe he's crazy, stupid, dumb and in love but he definitely wants to go ahead and buy a ring. he may or may not have some of his vows written in his phone, just a rough draft of course. he's told his mom about her every chance he gets, about just how crazy he is for her.
months and months go by, dates and dates, kisses and kisses, more and more milestones and polaroids taken with memories to be kept forever. he is so awestruck with how she gets along with his friends, his family. he loves teaching her about things from his world, and he loves learning about every crook and cranny of her world too.
"you're the real thing" he'd whisper in her ear, hand in hand, lips pressing a kiss to her soft hair. "you're dazzling," he would say again, right before he knelt down and ask to be with her forever. she'd say yes, and he thinks he's gonna die when it happens.

Media today is junky fast food spoiled by too much grease and the knowledge that the people producing it are being criminally mistreated and underpaid.
