Buitenspelen in de winter moet vanzelfsprekend worden. Terwijl kinderen de afgelopen decennia steeds minder buiten zijn gaan spelen, is het in de wintermaanden helemaal bar en boos met het gebrek aan frisse buitenlucht en beweging. Om dit tij te keren organiseren IVN Natuureducatie en kinderopvangorganisatie Humankind dit jaar voor de derde keer de campagne ‘Hartje Winter’. In de provincie Noord-Holland doen ruim 150 kinderopvanglocaties en zo’n 8600 kinderen vanaf maandag 8 januari mee. Buiten spelen in het groen is goed voor de motoriek, concentratie en gezondheid, zo bewijst wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Desondanks is buiten spelen sterk op zijn retour. In de winter spelen kinderen gemiddeld slechts acht uur per week buiten. Dat is de helft minder dan in de zomermaanden. En dan is er ook nog een flinke groep, zo’n 1 op de 6 kinderen, die nooit buiten speelt (onderzoek Kantar Public in opdracht van Jantje Beton). Om tegenwicht te bieden aan de vele schermtijd en het binnen zitten van kinderen hebben IVN Natuureducatie en Humankind enkele jaren geleden de handen ineengeslagen en de campagne ‘Hartje Winter’ ontwikkeld, een programma, boordevol winterse activiteiten en spelletjes buiten voor alle kinderdagverblijven en BSO’s in Nederland. Zo ontdekken kinderen al op jonge leeftijd dat er niets fijner is dan buiten spelen. Koud en nat ‘In de winter is naar buiten gaan een extra uitdaging. Het is koud en nat, wat de drempel verhoogt. Maar het is natuurlijk wel heel gezond,’ licht Marijke Koekkoek, manager Pedagogiek en Kwaliteit van Humankind het programma toe. ‘Daarom is er gekozen voor activiteiten waar iedereen blij van wordt, zoals spelen met de wind, schilderen in de sneeuw, winters koken en verhalen vertellen rond een kampvuur. This is pretty fantastic all in all for Itachi: a peaceful game that can make him plenty of money for his therapy sessions, no crazy fame (other than the crazy go players themselves), and plenty of motherhen go players who want to see this young prodigy grow well so he can keep playing go with them forever.
