well actually, theon not visiting alannys when he returns to pyke is perfectly in line with his story and character arc. he wants the approval of balon, who does not love him. he wants the approval of the ironborn, who do not love him. he rejects asha and does not even think of alannys because that is him accepting real love and care that comes without a price or expectation. his goal in the iron islands is to prove himself as his father's heir and a true iron born man and he is enraged by lowborns looking down on him for his position as a former hostage. it is a story of self sabotage that is a direct result of of his kidnapping via ned and robert. he returns home but only to emptiness because he can't accept the love from the family members that have missed him so much. by the time he meets her next in twow or ados, he will be ready to confront those feelings of sadness over his childhood and realise how badly he really does miss his mother. now let me explain how that ties into his relationship with robb-

i am upsetting myself at ungodly hours by imagining how the scene in apple and raven's dorm room must've looked like after raven refused to sign.

like imagine apple sobbing the night away and raven tries to comfort her only to be rebuffed and she spends the entire night awake and staring at the ceiling while the guilt eats away at her as she hears apple's quiet sobs.

and apple's there feeling so hurt and angry and alone, and in that moment she probably wants nothing more than a friend, a comforting presence, but she can't even look her bsf in the eye because she's just so upset about what's just happened.

idk there's something about the two of them being so steeped in distress and sadness because raven can't force apple to understand her and apple can't comprehend the reasons for raven's decisions.

and the two of them love each other SO MUCH, but right then they're just stuck in that suffocating dorm room with only each other for company, wondering what they're going to do next.

imagine being so scared to disappoint and to speak up that you watch half of your species be punished for the rest of eternity. Imagine now helpless and hurtful that must be. Knowing that if you step out of line you can be next, the smallest mistake may as well be your downfall... but that won't happen because you're not like them.

That's what you tell yourself to make yourself feel better, more at ease. Because if there's a difference between you and them, then you are ok. You are safe.

But then you slowly realize that you may actually enjoy spending time with one of them... in fact you're convinced that this special "them" isn't even evil. And sure they do things that aren't exactly good, but they have a job to do, and so do you. So you close your eyes...

Before you can realize it, you've walked a long time with your eyes closed holding their hand. It was a walk of trust and this supposed evil being went above and beyond to help you. So you realize that it's not necessarily your or their fault, it's more of a systematic issue. And if you could, maybe you would help fix it!

And then you get the chance. Obviously you try to share your joy with your loved one but they don't want to help you anymore. They tempt you with one last thing before leaving you. A kiss you hadn't realized you starved for.

So now you're left without the one who had always had your back and an insatiable hunger.
