My frustration with Asha's writing
Tumblr media
A lot of people liked "Wish," and a lot of people didn't, and a particular concern for the latter was the main protagonist. Since I'm in the camp of "I'm frustrated with 'Wish,'" I'll discuss a little bit about why Asha feels like such a letdown.
Tumblr media
She's an archetype, but not an individualized character. She screams "Disney heroine," but she doesn't have anything about her that makes her character stand out (positively) among other Disey female leads. She has no flaws that hinder her, and her positive traits are vague at best. "I care too much," is the most generic thing I've ever heard a main character say. In fact, it becomes almost meaningless when a character (who genuinely means it) says it about themselves; caring too much is a statement that works best when talking about someone else. In fact...
Tumblr media
2. She has significant plot armor. She gets far in the process of being considered to be Magnifico's apprentice, but it's never said WHY. Considering her friend (or friends? I'm not sure) works in the castle, Dahlia putting in a good word for Asha would make sense to why Magnifico would consider her, and even him asking around town for their opinion of her would make more sense. But it feels like she gets so far in the process simply because she's the main character, despite Magnifico knowing next to nothing about her. And Magnifico has several magical powers at his disposal, but he's still defeated by her (mainly because he only uses his staff against her).
Tumblr media
3. She has a lot of influence, but again, it's not really said how or why. During the reprise of "This Wish," the people of Rosas side with her against Magnifico--but this is likely because she's the only one who dared to stand up against him. We only see Asha interact with the people of Rosas during the opening song with her as a tour guide (how did she get THAT job?), and it feels very professional, very timed. It doesn't feel intimate or personal, like Asha has built up a good rapport with the other citizens.
Tumblr media
4. Her family is poorly defined. Sabino's wish is to create a song that inspires the next generation, but as Magnifico himself mentions, that's a vague wish--plus imo, it's cheating; rather than working hard and creating a legacy for yourself, you want to wish to give something for people to remember you by. And Sabino is obviously older than Magnifico, but his life--and how he lived it without the kingdom of wishes--is never explored. Perhaps if it was explained that he experienced great hardship and his spirit was broken, it'd explain why he was so fixated on getting a wish. And Sakina's wish is never explained. She's probably the worst-characterized parent in a 21st century Disney movie, since she's pretty much just there. And Asha's father inspired her, but he isn't shown much. I'd have enjoyed it if the plot revolved around her trying to revive her father and it proves Magnifico's point that some wishes can't/shouldn't be granted.
Tumblr media
5. She learns NOTHING. Her whole song is about "I've lived a lie" when that's not entirely true; she takes a very black and white view on the situation without ever trying to evolve her viewpoint via Magnifico's perspective, and the people of Rosas never stop to think "we shouldn't be codependent"; they just think "we shouldn't have let Magnifico lie to us." It's a giant avoidance of guilt on everyone's behalf, and since Magnifico is a villain, no one really cares that he has some semblance of a point. When you look at protagonists like Pocahontas, Judy Hopps, and Anna, you see how they learned a new way of looking at things, that they've suffered hardships (either through their own making or otherwise) and that they've grown from it.
Tumblr media
6. She's "relateable." Disney's adorkable thing hasn't been too much of an issue for me up to this point; it was unique when Anna did it, and it never feels super cringey with Mirabel and Moana (though if Mirabel is cringey, it fits into the narrative). But now it's tired. I'd enjoy more mature leads like Raya, Tiana, and Elsa, rather than Disney trying to make a protagonist that tries--and fails--to be quirky. And I never really saw Rapunzel as adorkable as her later leading ladies. But Asha tries too hard; honestly that should've been one of her flaws in the film. Her desperation to meet everyone's approval would've been something neat (albeit familiar if we compare her to Mirabel) to explore in the film.

Doesn't quite fit my blog so I'mma say it here:
Can I just say how much I fucking LOVE how Disney's Clopin gives off such low-key amazingly sweet dad/cool uncle energy the minute he encounters a child.
Like you can tell it's just completely second nature to him to scoop up the kid at the end of the movie and balance her on his hip so he still has a hand free to bring out the puppet to entertain said child.
Like the man has no concept of a phone, but if a kid handed him a toy phone we would 1000000000000% still know to pretend to answer it and would not hesitate to do so.
Best underrated character ever imo
Clopin is the best: amazing singer, he can easily be your best friend or worst enemy. But that's because he'll literally kill people to make sure those he cares about are safe.
I believe he's a great father figure for all the children that know him, especially since not all of the kids of his people have happy lives, so their well being is one of his top priorities.

(Some) starboy fans are the Absolute worst and i hate them with all my being, 80% of them don't even know the story and Instead take other peoples opinions on the movie and believe them with all their might AND when they do see the movie they have their panties In a bunch cuz their Amazing Sparkly Piss Colored Jack frost Isn't in the movie and that alone makes the movie the worst thing in the world not knowing starboy was NEVER attended to be asha's Love interest but These people are allergic to Critical thinking skills, Media literacy, and Doing research.
You summed it up pretty well! Maybe I’ll repeat myself but what actually bothers me here is, it’s like these people can’t make fanfics or headcanons (which are good - that’s what keeps fandoms alive and fresh!) without being insufferable about how “better” the movie would have been if it went to fit their own, personal take? Like,,, what? I mean criticism is good, fun even. It is fun to discuss what you like or don’t like about a movie, and it’s MEANT to be fun, because even if wish actually were to be “THe wOrSt diSnEy MoVie eVeR!!!” that would be no tragedy imo, at the end of the day it’s just movies, it’s not meant to be taken that seriously. People should be able to distinguish between “movie bad” and “I personally would have liked the story to take another direction because I liked the aestethic of an ai masterpiece I saw on tiktok” lol. Anyway rest assured most wish haters are just frustrated people who jumped on the first hate train they saw when it first came out. Like you said, they don’t even know what story they’re hating on LMAO. Tomorrow they’ll go and hate something else. Most of them have already moved past. Some others are still starting wish rewrites tho. They’re all rewrites of each other at this point

My very biased review of the Ahsoka finale
This might thread down the unpopular opinions road. It's all right. That's what opinions are for.
Let me start by saying that I didn't like most of the finale. I had a grand total of 2 scenes I enjoyed: Ezra reuniting with Hera, and the very end scene with Hayden (shocker, I know).
I didn't like most of the show in general, mainly because of the whole clusterfuck with Sabine being trained as a Jedi. I hate it deeply because it undermines Sabine's worth. She was already a great character. She didn't need to be made better or more powerful by becoming Ahsoka's apprentice. She didn't need to suddenly develop Force-sensitivity. The cool thing with Sabine was that she was NORMAL. Yes, she was a Mandalorian and skilled with blasters and explosives, but she was a regular person. She was a non-superpowered human in a galaxy where heroes were known as having superpowers. That's what made her so interesting in Rebels. And this whole season she was at her best when she switched back to what she knew: guns and bombs. Her best scene in the finale (imo) was when she crashed the ship and took 2 TIEs with it. That's who Sabine is.
I'm also mad at how little information we had on Baylann and Shin. They were depicted as the main villains in the beginning, but we never got their back story. By the last two episodes they're discarded to make room for Thrawn, which I understand, but we still don't even know who they are. What's their story? Where did Baylann come from? How does he know Anakin? How did Shin come to be his apprentice? And the worst part is we won't ever get clear answers because Baylann as he was in this season cannot be in the next due to what happened to Ray Stevenson. So this is just a loose thread. And the way it ended doesn't give me hope for Shin either.
Midway through the show it feels like Filoni had a shift and stopped caring about this being the Ahsoka show and just making it a setup for his Thrawn movie. And I hate it. I hate when film and showrunners make what should be a stand-alone (in a previously established universe) into a prequel. It's the crap Marvel did and now Star Wars is trying really hard to copy that. (Yeah I know, it's Disney. Pisses me off all the same.) This show was called "Ahsoka" for fuck sake! And by the end, it was the Thrawn show. We had an entire episode (1x06 Far, Far Away) without Ahsoka in it, except for like one scene in the beginning. Can you imagine a Kenobi episode without Obi-Wan? An Andor episode without Cassian? It makes no sense! It's the same kind of bullshit they pulled with BoBF when it became The Mandalorian s2.5 halfway through. Yes, it progresses the overall story, but in a way to set up something else instead of focusing on your main character.
In the same vein, I hate how Jacen was set up in the beginning, then discarded, how we never even saw Zeb and Agent Kallus, how Hera just became the way to tie Ahsoka back to the New Republic, how Senator Xiono could have been a good antagonist but ended up being an asshole without substance... There were too many things set up for a show this short and most of them ended up fizzling into nothing.
Now, I did like the Anakin parts. Yes, that's because I'm a Hayden stan through and through. Put him anywhere in the GFFA and I'm a goner. The World Between Worlds scenes were absolutely phenomenal, and probably why I'll rewatch this show again. Sorely because of Hayden (although Ariana was incredible too in the TCW scene). His Anakin brought this whole show to another level. No shade to Rosario, I love her. But this show didn't do her justice. Especially not next to Hayden when they had them sparring. The rest of the show I was disappointed in all of her fight scenes because how can I believe the girl who trained under Anakin Skywalker is so slow? They, probably without realizing it, built her up to fail. And it bothers me because we know from the animated series that Ahsoka is amazing in a fight.
I also appreciated the zombie troopers. The rest of the Dathomir storyline is a bit muddy and I'm not sure I love it, but I guess I just have to wait to see how they try to make this fit post-Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor.
I don't even know where I'm going with this by now. I just... I wish this show had been different. The ending is kinda making me cautiously excited for Thrawn. (But only if they bring in the Chiss Ascendancy and Eli. I need my Thranto fix in live action, thank you very much.) There's also all the little easter eggs of Mortis that make me wonder if they didn't pull a Lost and they're all just dead (which I would respect a lot more than whatever else they seem to be building on).
In the end, I am deeply disappointed in what the show ended up being. Apart from a few moments, most of it was "meh" at best for me and I mourn what could be if Filoni stopped trying to make all his female OC the biggest badass that ever was and one-up one another.

Watched Wish last night! I'd previously seen a bunch of videos criticizing it for this and that, and while some arguments hold up (I just know someone down at Disney has their head in their hands, wondering why the soundtrack didn't blow up like Encanto did even though it had the same musical bones), I ended up really enjoying the movie anyway. The animation also wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.
Maybe it's because I'm not hard to please as someone who's liked Miraculous Ladybug for 8 years, but I did find story decent, the humor was pretty good, Asha was quirky but not annoyingly so imo, and I can tell a lot of heart was put into the movie, even if it ultimately failed at capturing an audience.
People (mainly adults) complained about Asha's friends and their lack of personality and depth. I thought they were fine as they were, and not every character needs a backstory. My favorite part of the movie was the Dopey friend character. I actively looked forward to his lines, and Grumpy never got on my nerves either. The others were kinda boring, but they didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story. I probably laughed out loud because the people in the audience were cracking up, but the fact that it made a room without a single minor in it burst out laughing multiple times must mean they did something right.
Oh, and Star was SO cute!! Him and his little ball of yarn🥺 Starboy this, Starboy that--look me in the eyes and tell me Star was worth switching out for a sunshine version of Jack Frost. [okay maybe he was, but I'm tired of people hyping up a character who never got past the conceptual phase!!]
Plus! Plus! I don't care that the Queen wasn't evil and we didn't get a villain couple! Do y'all really believe the writing could've been saved by the Queen being evil if the evil king we got was so mid?? (I like Chris Pine as a voice actor, it's not his fault Magnefico was the least interesting part of the movie).
I can see people coming back to this movie in ten years and saying "oh it's actually pretty good, people should've given it a chance". It's obviously not perfect (songs with good melodies but weak rhythm and lyrics, generally uninteresting villain, heavy-handed Disney references, not enough Dario being introspective!!).
But yoooo, this movie isn't for you. It was obviously written for kids, and kids will fricking love it! It is very family friendly, it's funny, and for an origin story about the wishing star, it's not bad. (Insert theory about Asha training successors to be fairy godmothers). It's not a home-run, but people need to stop talking about it like it's the worst thing Disney's ever put out. Not everything needs to be a masterpiece to deserve basic respect.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion but i am glad that Seb/Bucky will not be in Cap 4. I love my SamBucky babies but Seb's stans were pissing me off and making any nes about Cap 4 be about Bucky and they were always crying when Anthony had the spotlight. I know that some of the antis think this means that Sam "is nothing without Buck" or "that the sambucky fandom is finally over" . I feel that the SamBucky fic writers are about to get angsty and i am here for it !!!!!! Sam/Anthony is strong enough to carry this movie without Seb/Bucky. I know i will be on promo duty on Twitter for this film. Plus, i feel that SamBucky will reunite in the Avengers movies or in a different Disney/Marvel show.
They are still married in my head but they are just going on seperate missions. Plus, they really need to build on Cap and Falcon's new dynamic.
Hi, anon! Even if it’s unpopular, I’m right there with you. Sam fans were fighting for our lives during practically the entire TFATWS run. Between Spellman and the behavior of Bucky stans, it was rough. Ngl, the show came this close to changing how I felt about Bucky, but given who the writer was, I’m just going to blame him (he wanted to do that Confederate show after all 🙄).
Anyway, I’m perfectly fine with them being apart. I’m ready to see Sam mentor Joaquin and Eli, and spend time with Isaiah. He might even get a canon love interest and hopefully more of a backstory! I want to hear about Gideon and why he wasn’t mentioned at all in the show. I want more family time with Sarah and the boys. I’m glad it’s gonna be thriller… I want Sam using his amazing mind and his fighting skills.*
Like you said, this is Marvel, so the chances of Sam and Bucky not linking back up at some point is pretty much slim to none imo. And whether they do or don’t, that’s what fanfics are for 🤷🏾‍♀️
*It should be noted that I don’t trust the writer as far as I can throw him, and I never finished the only movie I ever saw of the director’s, so my general feeling for Cap 4 is to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Still happy for Sam/Anthony though.

By Chris Willman
(Variety) — Harrison Ford can’t escape the two-and-a-half-minute fanfare that John Williams composed for his most famous cinematic hero, Indiana Jones. “As I often remind John, his music follows me everywhere I go — literally,” Ford says. “When I had my last colonoscopy, they were playing it on the operating room speakers.”
Creating those big, bold, brassy musical moments has become Williams’ trademark over his seven-decade career. Without his symphonic genius, some of the most indelible images in movie history — from E.T.’s flight across the moon to the ravenous shark zeroing in on an unsuspecting swimmer — would have lacked their singular power.
This year, Williams is resetting the record books again with his Academy Award nomination for best original score for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” It’s his 54th nomination, which is the most ever for someone not named Walt Disney, and thus the biggest tally for any living person — and any nonproducer, period.
“People ask about a legacy,” Williams says as he sits in the Amblin screening room on the Universal lot, adjacent to his bungalow office. “If I could be remembered as someone who did his job well and remembered as a good solid musician, I would rest very happily.”
... Over the decades, he was aware of how the great film composers before him had a reputation for being cranky at best or tortured at worst. “Alex North, David Raksin, Jerry Goldsmith and others — brilliant, beautiful talents. All unhappy.” Most had barely suppressed ambitions to write concert music or symphonies instead of scoring movies. They believed that they were, in a sense, slumming it and laboring for directors who they described as “imperious and obstructive.”
“I thought, ‘Well, that’s not a complaint that I want to have to live with.’ So I went about it not to try to compete with Igor Stravinsky or the great classical composers, but to learn from the process of doing — the best school of all.”
Williams also notes that times have changed. Today, orchestras are happy to play film music. “If you went to the New York Philharmonic 40 years ago, they would be condescending about playing anything from Hollywood,” he says. “So I’m lucky that I’m living in a different period.”
Maybe luck has something to do with it, but there’s a case to be made that Williams created the era in which concert treatments of film music and live-to-screen presentations are beloved hallmarks of symphony seasons. He did that by writing themes the whole world wants to hear. He also did it by being a friendly ambassador for orchestras, fronting the Boston Pops or the L.A. Phil. Those who know Williams well say the audiences who have greeted him as America’s Composer are not mistaken in their impressions of him as a genial genius.
***
Imo, perhaps the most underreported part of John Williams' legacy? Helping classic film scores that he and his predecessors composed earn their place in the classical music canon (it helps immensely that Williams commands the deepest respect from professional musicians, soloists and rank-and-file orchestra members alike, around the world).

Hogwarts Legacy. My thoughts.
First of all let me say that i did not pre order this game, a friend let me use his account for the time being because he wanted me to know what my thoughts were about it.
                                                           Overall gameplay
The open world aspect was a pleasant surprise because i thought it was going to be another ubislog title with hundreds of side activities sprinkled across the map without any real substance
But it isn’t. It’s beautifully crafted and feels alive
Everything else however it falls short. In my opinion, most of it ranges from Ok (mid) to aggressively mediocre (INCREDIBLY mid)
The combat, holy fuck the combat is boring! The magic system somehow almost managed to convince me to get forspoken instead. There are like 3 unforgivable curses and like 26 in total spells. If you have Expalliarmus, Confringo and stupefy then fuck, you’re set for life. Just go ham.
The RPG mechanics are underwhelming. No sense of character building or any of the sort at all. At the very least your choices do have some effect on the stories but the RPG mechanics are more underwhelming than fallout 4. To start with the “Talent” or “Perk” system is very barebones. Most of them are either damage modifiers for your spells, makes them AOE attacks, makes you more stealthy or to improve the room of requirement.
The story? I thought it was okay. No more, no less. It is absolutely nothing special. It’s just not for me. There were no memorable characters imo. And the trans character they put in is just there to tick boxes. Which is not a good thing. It feels like they just put her in because of the backlash.  Look, i thought this game was going to be worse than it actually is but thankfully it’s not. It’s still pretty mediocre, and mediocre this days basically means a masterpiece now. I think it could have been better with the RPG mechanics and magic system expanded instead of what fucking barebones shit we have now.  Bravo avalanche, you managed to make a decent game. It wasn’t anything special but at least it was something that wasn’t shit. You can’t blame me for being skeptic. I’ve seen your catalogue, most of them are bad movie games and literally not even a decade ago you guys made the worst toys to life games to ever exist. Disney Infinity. Oh and your collector’s edition is still dogshit.
Verdict: 4.5/10. Mediocre. To buy, or not to buy: Don’t buy. Wait for sale. Don’t pay 70-80 dollarinos for this. Wait until it’s like 30-40.
now for a rant. Anyone who pre ordered multiple copies of this game just to “own the libs” need to get the fuck off the hobby for good. You guys have never learned from cyberpunk and 2042 and it shows.

🙉- Worst Tangled Song?
💞- Which character do you relate to the most?
💢- Which character do you not relate to the most?
💥- A big a opinion you have related to the Tangled movie/series?
We all know Cass is my gurl from now until forever! But I also love her smokin hot dad where she definitely got her looks from,Hector and her aunt Adira.😌
Nigel. He can go die in a hole for all I care.
Moonstone 1000%!!!! I have built SO MUCH lore around that opal.
Season 2. Gave us all a lot to work with when it comes to lore and it Twas sad that it Twas not touched on enough in the next season.
Probably HTTYD and the book series the Wingfeather saga. They are both heavily based on dragons so I’d put a WHOLE ASS BUNCH of Saponin lore in there.
I can’t pick one animal 😭😭😭. My number ones would have to be pascal, owl, little big guy,and Hector’s pets who I have named Raynan (rhino),Kinzey & Thanatos (bear cats)
Any next gen aus and anything involving the brotherhood!
Cassandra’s adventure suit and her armor in season two. And raps and Eugene’s outfits in season three. I also like the redesign outfits I’ve made for Cass and Andrew for my next gen au.
Probably Rapunzel’s coronation gown. It just doesn’t feel like her with the big poofy skirt. And Eugene’s outfit for rap’s coronation
I have WAAAAAAAYY too many 😭😭😭. Here are some of them: Hector has ADHD,Cass is near sighted and also has ADHD but she’s medicated (idk if they had that but let’s just say they do),varian and Edmund are both autistic,Stan and Cass are cousins (the cap being Stan’s uncle),Quirin is the oldest of the brotherhood,Edmund is the second oldest after him is Adira and Hector is the youngest. Hector is a Capricorn and is born on Christmas eve (is there a specific reason y I headcanon that? No) Hector and Eugene’s mom are half siblings,Cap had a wife when he adopted Cass but they got divorced, and then Cass’s “mom” died when Cass was 16. Willow has ADHD,and her and the Cap used to be a thing. I also headcanon that the Cap’s name is Caleb. Adira and Eugene’s mom used to date, earlier in high school. Hector stole his rhino from a circus that was passing through the DK,and he found the bear cats in the woods. Cass found Owl as a bb chick that fell out of his nest and was hurt and this happened not too long after her mom died so Owl just became her emotional support animal as well as her fighting bird. Andrew is dyslexic,oh and Quirin is color blind.
Idk ig Cass but I don’t like how they wrote it in the series. But my second would have to be Varian cuz ngl that would also make sense. But yet again I’m also interested with the moon!Eugene au.
I need to read more but so far Blood of my brother by AMax76✨😌✨
2018,when season one just ended. I did watch the short film when it came out but, then I just kinda forgot abt it😅. So yah I officially joined in 2018
Saw the teaser on Disney channel.
My top three should be, 1) ready as I’ll ever be 2)waiting in the wings 3)nothing left to lose
Through it all and living the dream.
At the beginning:raps. By the end? Cass,Eugene and Varian.
Fred.
Again I have too many😅. But I’ll try to keep this one shorter. IMO we should’ve had more lore on the DK and especially Saporia. I really would’ve liked to see them really dive into the motives of why they wanted to take Corona back. I also think that Ready as I’ll ever be should’ve gotten a reprise ont eh finale I stead of us getting through it all,cuz let’s be real that song was not it.

This whole Super Mario Bros. movie has me thinking that if we ever get a Kingdom Hearts movie (though I doubt we'll ever get one, and this is probably a good thing), Disney might similarly recast all the voices in that, to have an A-list cast.
"But, wait," you say. "Kingdom Hearts already is full of celebrities." I feel they'd want to go A-list, though. And if we're being honest, a lot of the KH cast hasn't done a lot of things other than KH for a long time. Like I can't think of anything David Gallagher has done lately, but I may just not be in the know on some of his projects.
Then again, Disney might not do this, in not wanting to tick off Tetsuya Nomura, since he hand-picked the Kingdom Hearts 1 voice actors, as well as Master Eraqus' (and maybe some of the others. As a side note: they'd definitely keep Eraqus' voice actor of Mark Hamill, if they wanted to tell Birth by Sleep's story in a movie or something).
But maybe they'd tell Nomura that they feel like Haley Joel Osment really doesn't sound like a fourteen-year-old anymore, so this would be a good chance for him to hand pick someone new who does. And maybe they'd go about things that way.
Though if they did that, I feel at that point, they'd probably decide to just go ahead and use that as an excuse to finally recast for the games, too. And though it feels like blasphemy to say this--and I don't want it to happen--that might not be the worst thing in the world. And as long as the actor was good for Sora, I'd probably begrudgingly accept it.
But what are you guys' thoughts on all this? I know it's all a hypothetical that'll undoubtedly never happen--and for good reason, imo--but it still might be fun to talk about during this news drought, nonetheless.

Tagged by @marklikely to post the top 9 movies I've seen recently! I actually haven't watched that many movies lately so I'm just posting the nine most recent movies I saw in general, going from worst to best with some commentary/summary
9- 1up. A movie from fucking BUZZFEED STUDIOS about gamer girls. I quit about ten minutes in when they had a "triggered" joke. PAINFUL to watch not even bad in a fun way
8- The Book of Love- a romcom about a man who wrote a boring ass book and his translator that made it a steamy romance novel in spanish. It is neither romantic nor comedic. The main character is so DEEPLY DEEPLY unlikable. It's basically a worse version of another movie on this list (off the menu). Also by buzzfeed studios who let buzzfeed make movies
7. Thor: Love and Thunder- a sequel to Thor Ragnarok that isn't even half as charming imo. No more getting excited for Disney produced movies we have evolved past being excited for Disney movies
6. Harold and the Search For Happiness - a psychiatrist realizes he's too emotionally stunted to help his clients. Goes traveling around the world to find what takes people happy. If was okay but I spent most of it playing Hades on my laptop while it was in the background
5.- Marry Me- a romcom starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Lopez. She's a pop star who finds out her fiancee is cheating in her on her wedding night, so she married some random guy in the crowd. It's a pretty middle of the road romcom, and the "celebrity who falls for someone who's barely familiar with their work" formula I think is done better in Notting Hill, The Decoy Bride, and Music and Lyrics. Enjoyable enough
4.Off the Menu- another romcom! This one is about a guy who's dad is the president of Fake Taco Bell and he sucks. He gets assigned to go find new recipes for Fake Taco Bell and is sent to New Mexico, where he finds a small restaurant that serves AMAZING food. I can't really accurately rate how good this movie is because I would watch Santino Fontana in ANYTHING. Manages to pull of the unlikable protagonist who grows as a person MUCH better than in book of love. Also I'm a sucker for a fun scheming little kid and this movie has a fun one. It's not the best romcom I've ever seen but it's a worthwhile watch
3. Frequency- oh hey we've made it to the movies I actually think are good! Frequency is about a man who's able to communicate to his late father from 30 years ago through a ham radio. They have to solve a serial killer murder mystery together! VERY TENSE and very good!!! Also, in this movie from 1999, Andre Braugher plays a New York City cop, which is obviously very different from what he's most well known for now- a new York City cop.
2. To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything,Julie Newmar- three NYC drag queens go on a road trip to try and go for a drag competition in Hollywood. They get lost and their car breaks down, getting them stuck in a small deep south town. I know the term iconic queer cinema gets thrown around a lot but like. This really is iconic queer cinema. I like to think that it's in the same universe as The Birdcage, especially bc Robin Williams shows up for a bit part. Absolutely a love letter to drag and camp written by people who obviously had been a part of that community. Fair warning this movie deals with themes of homophobia, transphobia, racism, and sexual and physical abuse, but there's a 100% happy ending, and most of the bad things are simply feared rather than happen. Highly recommend!!! (Also in a similarish vein I'd recommend best little whorehouse in Texas)
And at Number 1:
Everything, everywhere, all at once- my summary and review is just: GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!! FUCK!!!
Tagging uhhh @queenofcryptiids @atomicelixir @friendswithghosts and @harry-trumans-dishwasher

Ok real talk....loose thoughts about OWK and TBOBF
This is my second attempt because i lost first 😅
Tumblr media
I just finished my second viewing of TBOBF and yesterday I watched all episodes of OWK after I abandon it after ep 3. IMO TBOBF is better than OWK.
Tumblr media
I'm seriously considering changing my rating for TBOBF (making it higher). OWK is better if you watch it in one day. Remember this is my opinion! I had more fun watching TBOBF than OWK.
Tumblr media
In OWK there are no stakes. We know that characters will be fine (at least till A New Hope). This series should be 3 one hour episodes or one movie. The only elements that I really like/love are flashbacks (O66 and pre AOTC), Bail and Leia interactions, Vader vs Obi in the last episode and interactions between Obi and Leia and of course Liam Neeson and Temuera Morrison cameos💗. The dummest chase scene(s) is now in OWK not in TBOBF.😛 Music is much much better in TBOBF. OWK has not memorable soundtrack even OWK Theme! Meanwhile TBOBF has catchy Boba Theme and supreme Aliit Ori'shya Tal'din 💗
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that Hayden and Ewan are back! I hope to see them in other series (Ahsoka) but Disney is so dumb that there were no Clone Wars flashbacks! 🤡
Tumblr media
Meantime TBOBF is taking place after OG trilogy so we don't know what will happen to the characters (Cobb's injury and presumably dead Cad Bane, i refuse to believe he is dead after his awesome live action debut!). Sure TBOBF have a lot of problems (Din Djarin hijacking TWO episodes was the stupidest thing Disney has done. I posted some of my thoughts about TBOBF and Boba HERE (its kind of outdated....), HERE and HERE so I'm not gonna write about Boba in more details in this post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OWK and TBOBF are not the worst things ever (as some dudebros are saying). Sure Disney could be more invested in STAR WARS as is invested in MCU. But one thing I'm sure of: Star Wars is not dead. I think Filoniverse is the right direction SW is heading but I'm still concerned.
Tumblr media
Looking back I think that all I care about, in my 20 some years of knowing Star Wars, is: Jango, Boba, clones, Anakin/Vader, interactions and relations between characters and SW Lore in general. And I hate space battles🤮 I know SW has "Wars" in the name, oh irony 🤣
Tumblr media
Feel free to comment and reblog and remember this is only my opinion!!!!!!

hey splatoon fans, while you're waiting for side order i highly recommend playing TRON 2.0
it's a FPS sequel to TRON that came out in 2003. it's about the now-adult son of two of the main human characters from the original TRON movie getting sucked into a virus-infected computer, and in the process of trying to disinfect the computer, he uncovers a plot from the company taking over his parents' company to use their laser technology to digitize armies of humans and take over the world.
do i have you hooked yet?
if i don't, consider this: i'm recommending it in huge part because it's largely a story about jet, the protagonist, learning to reconnect with his dad after they both lost his mom, who died in a workplace laser accident and was most likely partially digitized. the digitization laser was her own life's work. the digitization AI, MA3A, takes on lora's voice after her death (and is voiced by lora's actress from the original film), and there are workplace rumors that it's because alan incorporated the digitized portions of her remains into MA3A's code. jet spends a lot of the game defending his mom's digital/digitized ghost from external threats.
what i'm getting at is that if you're excited for side order because of how it's hinted at dealing with themes of grief in a y2k digital landscape... they're mostly subtext in TRON 2.0 but i still think the game is seriously up your alley.
if you're a splatoon fan who hasn't played many other shooter games before, TRON 2.0 is a great introduction to the PC shooter world imo. if you're squeamish about blood/gore/giblets flying everywhere, there's none of that in TRON 2.0. if you're a splatoon fan because you like shooters but you've never given TRON 2.0 a chance, this is your sign!
some pros of TRON 2.0:
it looks fucking awesome
TRON 2.0 has a very turn-of-the-century take on the aesthetics of the original TRON. it predates tron legacy by seven years and it doesn't have any of that apple-store aesthetic. it's got all the juicy colors of the original film, with lots of crisp details that the original animation hardware couldn't handle. the digital world of TRON 2.0 only gets better every year with age. meanwhile it's got a (for its time) state-of-the-art glow mechanic that gives the game a very comforting soft feel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and these are just the ones i've got on my own PC! (the last one i dont know if it's my, screenshot but the rest are from my own screenshots folder).
it can run on basically any PC
no, fr, this required some pretty good hardware when it came out... but the game turned 20 this year. i managed to run TRON on my old laptop after it very nearly split in half like a 2ds and took half an hour to boot by using my parents' TV as a monitor. it didn't even drop that many frames! this was in 2020. it didnt even have a graphics card.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yeah i was a grown adult when that photo was taken. no i dont care that i look 13. my car had just burst an engine rod in the middle of the desert about 48 hours before this was taken, so my fit wasn't really at the top of my priorities. (don't ask.)
you can get it DRM-free
don't get the steam version y'all, i can vouch for it being super glitchy. i can basically only run it while using mods to launch it without contacting steam. get it from gog.com.
ethics note: pirate the TRON movies as much as you want but im pretty sure the original company still gets some bucks when you buy 2.0 legally, and disney fucked them over pretty bad when it comes to the rights to TRON 2.0's characters and story, and they ripped off half the plot of the game to make the movie (and the movie is worse). if you don't wanna drop $10 wait for a gog sale and drop $3. (and honestly, if you're paying $20/year to get disconnected every 15 matches in splatoon, even paying $10 for a good retro game isn't the worst financial decision you've ever made.)

My MCU Phase 4 MOVIE Ranking
Since MCU Phase 4 has come to a close, and I just watched Black Panther Wakanda Forever, I am going to give my ranking- did anyone need this? No. But I'm the one voluntarily choosing to state my opinions online.
DISCLAIMERS: not ranking the shows, just the movies- maybe I'll do a separate post for the shows?
I thought about it but I will be mentioning spoilers. I didn't know how else to rank them without using evidence from the films to back up my justifications.
The movies aren't in position of best-worst or anything like that, they are only just listed in the order they were released.
Okay, let's get into it.
Black Widow:
7/10, or maybe even 8/10 for me. Overall, I personally thought it was decent. I know there were a LOT of people who gave it negative reviews. I remember seeing so many bad things about it from people when it came out. But honestly, is it the worst thing Marvel has made? Imo, no. I won't get into the nitty gritty, or the Taskmaster stuff, but I liked getting to see Natasha again- even though we know this was before she died. And Florence Pugh as Yelena stole the show for me. Black Widow is (was?) also one of my favorite Avengers, so I personally have a soft spot in my heart.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings:
8/10 or maybe 8.5/10 for me. I am hesitant to push it toward a 9/10. Here's why and let me explain. I am aware that some people are THIRSTY for Tony Leung. I don't understand that, however it's your life, not mine. BUT I will say he did a damn good job being a complex character. I don't like him for giving Shang Chi trauma, but I think he did good being morally gray. Even though I got frustrated as F sometimes with his character. Shang Chi I actually liked. His dynamic with Katy? Great. I like Awkwafina tbh. Xu Xialing being the badass sister? Iconic. Although I hope she doesn't turn evil based off that post credit scene (another reason why I'm hesitant to give it a 9/10- I just want her to be good okay? Can't have TOO many morally complex people) The cinematography was great. Finally, as someone who is Asian (specifically Chinese0 but I was adopted) the Asian representation was decent. You know, it wasn't anything super mold breaking but for big names like Disney and Marvel, I give a nod.
Eternals:
3/10 or 4/10 at MOST. I honestly don't even remember most of this movie. I didn't even really have many expectations going into it, but.. yeah let's just say it was not my favorite. I didn't really like Sersi and Icarus together. I honestly felt like their characters were boring tbh. Druig and Makkari though? That's the REAL ship. And representation for the deaf! It's a start! Also, I will be crying eternally over Gilgamesh dying. The one thing about the plot that mainly interested me was Dane Whitman. I admit I am interested in seeing how the Black Knight storyline will be explored further. Other than that, Eternals was not really a memorable MCU film for me.
Spiderman No Way Home:
A solid 8/10. I think we can all agree this one was the MOST hyped up movie from Phase 4. Like ever. The hype was so real. I LIVED through it all. What a world to live in. Everyone was avoiding spoilers left and right. Anyway. I DID like the film overall since it continued the storyline of Peter's identity being discovered, and a bit of Dr. Strange's storyline. Obviously, the cameo from Tobey and Andrew was great to see. Although I admit I did not grow up watching Tobey and Andrew's versions of Spiderman, I felt the kind of "magic" experience of seeing the original folks back on screen permeate through me. HOWEVER. The only reason I cannot score this one any higher is because I didn't like the ending. I haven't really seen much and it has been a while, but do others hate the ending? What is the universal opinion? I may just look it up on a Reddit thread later. Anyway, I personally didn't like that ending. Why would you do the memory wipe trope??? I mean, was that actually the ONLY solution to Peter nearly tearing apart the space time continuum and fabric of the universe??? So Ned and MJ are just gonna have to continue on. I can't think about it too much or I may get emo actually. To end it on a good note, it was cool seeing the old villains from the universe as well.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:
7/10. Yeah. I had to think for a second. But 7/10 feels right for this one. It wasn't really my favorite, but I didn't think it was the worst. And oh god, there seems to be a LOT of controversy around this one. By controversy, I also just mean basically mixed opinions. From what I've seen/heard, people either really hate this one or they're like, alright. It's mid. Also, for a movie that has Doctor Strange in the title, I sure did see the entire world talking mostly about Wanda. I don't know. It feels like this movie was just chaotic? Specifically in terms of the storyline, I mean. Like, I thought it was interesting that this was the movie they decided on to introduce America Chavez into the MCU. I think it could have been easier for people to follow maybe just one major character? So the focus isn't constantly shifting? Maybe that's just me. Also, is Stephen just destined to be alone now? Idk about the comics because I don't really read those, but like, I guess he's never ending up with Christine in any universe. Is the Darkhold like actually destroyed for real? What the fuck is the storyline now?? I've seen/heard rumors of the next movie actually being Dimension of Darkness (hence the post credit scene) but like what would the plot be? Again, I don't read the comics so idk if they touch on that, but yeah Doctor Strange's timeline/story and character arc is just one of the weirdest in the MCU for me I guess.
Thor Love and Thunder:
8/10. Yes, I WILL defend this movie. Despite it being another Phase 4 movie which got crapped on, I liked it. If Thor Love and Thunder has 100 fans, I am one of them. If Thor Love and Thunder has 10 fans, I am one of them. If Thor Love and Thunder has only 1 fan, I am that fan. You get the gist. I think people were just so shocked for once that it wasn't their usual type of superhero movie. First of all, what does that even mean. Just let people enjoy their silly little movies, damn. I will admit, was it the strongest plot? Meh. But I did enjoy the dialogue a lot. I liked seeing Thor, Jane, and Valkyrie again. If you can't even think of Korg without getting offended, then you can just leave. Also, Christian Bale did an amazing job at being a villain. I will give him that. I will say that was one of the highlights of this movie probably tbh. I was so shook. As someone who watched Newsies, I was just like "he was Jack Kelly and now he's this" LOL.
Okay. And I know- most of know by now that Jane died, and some people didn't like that- yeah, I was sad too- but I thought it made sense for her character. Like I said, I'll play the defender. Also, because I thought it was impactful about how it paralleled Gorr and Love's relationship. And it was a metaphor for her going to Valhalla. She died in her OWN battle. But yeah, the storyline now with Thor will be interesting. I wonder what his next adventure will be. And if there's people out there still pressed about this movie, I'll just say I don't think Taiki Waititi cares.
Black Panther Wakanda Forever:
8.5/10. I just recently watched this one and I am still processing it. So I may not have as many fully formed thoughts on this movie compared to the others, but if I were to give keywords, I would say impactful and emotional. I went on Instagram and Twitter and there seems to be a majority of people who liked it. However, the main negatives I saw were issues with Shuri or Riri. Which is a whole discussion within itself. Also the storyline and length. I understand people thinking it dragged on. I went with one of my friends to watch the movie and she told me afterwards it felt a bit long to her. I can get that. But I WOULD argue with you on the cinematography. I thought that visually the film was great. The underwater scenes were fine with me. The costuming as well. I thought it did fine honoring Chadwick Boseman. To those who say it wasn't enough for them though, I just have to ask, ok, what would you have done instead? Like, yeah I saw some people saying Riri shouldn't have been introduced in the movie, and Shuri should have just stayed a scientist. So what would YOU make the storyline? And that's all I have to say on that. Aside from that, the soundtrack was great though. Overall, I think this film was one of the best for me of Phase 4. And it was a beautiful way to end it.
