I feel like so much of the popular music these days is devoid of poetry. It just says something outright instead of alluding to it, like reading a journal aloud.

FFXIVWrite2023 Prompt 22: Fulsome

She woke up early, figured she might as well do something nice. Gage Acquisitions thankfully had a fully stocked kitchen. She took a look through the pantry, trying to figure out ideas... cornflour... pork... shrimp, plenty of blocks of cheese, fresh vegetables aplenty... might as well make her coworkers some tacos, one of the more recent and her personal favorite culinary trends to hit Limsa, apparently originating from the Mamool Ja mercenaries offering their skills to the crews and adventuring parties, bringing a bit of the New World with them to Eorzea.

First step, of course, was the tortillas, thankfully she had the cornflour on hand, so she set about mixing it with hot water and sea salt, kneeding it and pressing it down into thin circles, and adding them to one of the larger skillets. She did a little bit of prep work in between cooking those, giving little chops of the pork, lettuce, grating cheese in the minute or so she had before swapping out the cooked tortillas for fresh ones.

Next, browning the pork, deshelling the shrimp, salting the meat and adding a bit of pepper, she thought for a moment, and grabbed and dumped one of the Ketchup bottles into a bowl, mixing up a bit of vinegar, sugar, and some chili powder she'd made for herself last week, she added some water to thin it up, and then dumped it onto the skillet to mix copiously with the proteins.

She sighed as she took in the smell, one of her favorite parts of cooking was the scents of everything coming together. Thankfully her timing was good, as it lured in the first early bird, Dark, it turned out, likely back in from her morning walk. She seemed quite pleasantly surprised to walk in to Apple cooking up a storm, the two chatted about her process as she wrapped things up, and by the time it was all ready, Meya, Minti, then Mathye and Riven, then Erick and Meya, Zoisette and Rhyss, more and more shuffled in.

Apple noted the crowd and started up a second batch, soon enough everyone was chatting away happily, eating something new for the first time, and paying her compliments that warmed her heart.

It was the least she could do for them.

The thing is that I actually remember rather liking the 2009 Star Trek movie when it came out, but I just rewatched it and...wow. I guess I was just kind of desperate for *any* new Star Trek content at that point, I don't know.

man the heroes gauntlet is such a rough dungeon. not like, mechanically (although the spectral thief is... fun for a melee class), but like. if you think about it too hard. the warriors of light all having increasingly frustrated and upset dialogue, trying to figure out why they can’t kill you, thinking they aren’t good enough.

and then just. thinking about how much effort elidibus is putting into this. the only thing he has left is zodiark’s desire to save the world. he doesn’t even know why he’s doing this any more but he has to stop you and now he has to do it alone.

idk. they’re all just trying so hard to do what they think is right. we must seem like a monster to them
