Spoiler ⚠️ Istg this does not make any sense! One episode ago Lucy asked Kate to actually say out loud that she can’t stand the thought of her living down the street when they could be living together and now she’s about to jump on a ship?! Side note: hating water - couldn’t she just have applied for a job on the mainland btw? I get that scheduling conflicts probably caused whatever this is, but tbh Lucy going home to visit or in a coma would’ve made more sense…

Yeah, that's my main issue with this entire storyline.

I understand they needed an excuse to have Lucy "gone" because of scheduling conflicts with Yas, but there were literally so many other explanations/storylines that they could have gone with that would make more sense than this.

Hell, they could have made it work to where Lucy technically wasn't even gone, but was maybe doing a training or something on the island, so she would still be there and just have Kate/Tori fill in the blanks so it was still like she's there, without her being there.

Ohhhhhh I’m a dummy.

I figured out why I’m fixating so hard on Da Zhangwei when he wasn’t even my favorite of S3 (that goes to Joker & Lisa).

I love covers! So much!! They are fanfiction for music!

More generally, I love reinterpretation more than most things. This is why I love fic, I love theater where every production is a new interpretation and especially Shakespeare where there’s so much room for interpretation, and I love covers.

Not so much covers that are practically karaoke, that’s whatever, but look - you know that post going around asking what’s the first album that changed you fundamentally? My answer was Tori Amos’s Crucify EP and it’s 100% because of her cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit, istg that song rewired my entire fucking brain. It’s not like I’d never heard a cover before (and I was already interested in the whole reinterpretation thing even if I hadn’t identified it yet), but no matter how much I love the original version of a song, if you give me a cover that does something new and interesting with it (especially in a way that enhances or twists the meaning of the song, where you know they put some thought into it), I will always eat that shit up with a spoon. Even if I don’t like it just bc it’s not my style or whatever, I’ll at least be interested.

So like, when I start digging and notice how many of his songs were totally new arrangements that sometimes sound hardly anything like the original? *chef’s kiss* Of course I am gonna latch onto that.

I haven’t actually dug up the originals of most of Joker & Lisa’s songs but I didn’t get the feeling they were doing anything radically different with most of them - just choosing the most heavy, dramatic ballads they could find then singing the fuck out of them. But I am definitely going to go looking just in case.
