i imagine rin will eventually get sick of feeling strung along by kabru who is either oblivious to her feelings because he cannot imagine them ever being together romantically or hes willfully oblivious because confronting how she feels about him means he would have to be vulnerable with her, something he has no intention of doing regardless, and would risk making her like him less if he told her directly that he isnt interested that way and only views her like a sister (see world guide, relationship does not develop any in canon so thats what im taking for granted)

and i imagine marcille is feeling similarly about falin, who she wants but cant admit to wanting, and who has left her to travel the world and find out who she is without marcille

there would be a camaraderie there and i think that might be how they really break the ice on their working relationship as two mages in the court (marcille being thee court mage of course and rin being like an additional mage who kind of needs something to do while staying with Kabru) and i can see rin getting a crush on marcille despite herself

shes a prissy good girl honor student elf who dabbled in dangerous forbidden magic to being back a woman who leaves her. like its sad, pathetic, kind of unexpectedly hardcore. marcille isnt like the elves she grew up with, and i think that interests rin too. she kind of wants to electrocute her to death but would rather kiss her. that contradiction in marcilles nature could be a real draw for rin, and i think itd be exciting for her to try to 'corrupt' marcille further thru more mundane vices. like rin probably smokes weed to soothe her anxiety the same way kabru takes a nightcap (since she can't drink) and i think trying to bait marcille into smoking with her, into doing something else that goes against that honor student first impression rin had, would be this primal thrill

and i think if marcille and falin are already long distance dating thatd be even more of a draw for rin, despite the fact (or maybe because of it) that shes getting into marcille to get over kabru

"unlikely sex symbol" is one of my favorite types of media cycle. its so weird and tortured. along with like "weird crush" polls and stuff. the amount of turmoil people seem to experience over having sexual feelings about anyone who isn't a literal perfect example of conventional attractiveness. im not breaking new ground here i think im just doing "everyone is beautiful and nobody is horny" again. anyway its just generally kind of a mean and backhanded thing to say about anyone. except for me i am absolutely chomping at the bit to be your unlikely sex symbol.
