My Legendborn Cycle Musings & Theories

May 2023 is when I first got into this series and I've been hooked ever since. I've read Legendborn and Bloodmarked at least twice and I have some thoughts about the books and series in general. So without further ado:

Spoilers ahead!

First of all, I'm glad I waited to make this post because recently more information has been revealed about the next upcoming book (Oathbound), and that instead of the series being a trilogy of books it'll be a tetralogy (4 part book series).

Oathbound

I strongly believe that the Shadow Court is definitely going to be unleashed that was part of the bargain Bree made with the Shadow King after all.

Vera’s warning to Bree at the end of Bloodmarked: “Chaos thrives on imbalance.” In Oathbound, is Bree going to become villainous or corrupted in some form? Since she doesn’t have her ancestors to balance or influence her since she closed the ancestral stream?

Since the third book is called Oathbound I wonder if this means oaths will be broken or removed. Obviously, Natasia's Kingsmage Oath to Martin Davis had to have been removed. Could the same thing happen possibly between Nick and Sel?

At the end of Bloodmarked, the main trio: Bree, Nick, and Sel have become separated. Since this is Bree's story first and foremost I think the book will still only be from Briana's point of view. I don't think we'll be getting multiple points of view. However, I'm not quite sure.

Selwyn Emrys Kane

There’s more to Selwyn Kane than meets the eye. One of the main themes in the Legendborn Cycle is ancestry and inheritance.

Theory 1: Erebus (the Shadow King) is Selwyn’s father. Erebus is described as a father-like figure towards Sel and he has a history and a clear fondness for Natasia (He knew where she was at the end of Bloodmarked). However, we know that the Order supposedly monitored Natasia closely while they ensured she gave birth to an heir. Obviously, since both her and Sel are powerful Merlins there must be more to discover about their bloodline. Also, it is mentioned how closely Sel resembles Merlin his ancestor not only in appearance but also in mannerisms. Sel is a prodigy and has the rare ability to transform into an Owl like his ancestor Merlin. Not to mention, the skill he used to craft aether constructs to hold Bree together after her injury which isn’t easy to do and most likely would’ve killed other Merlins attempting to do it.

Theory 2: Maybe Selwyn’s bloodline has ancestral ties to someone on the Shadow Court.

Nicholas Martin Davis

He's going to be leading the faction of the Order that's still loyal to the Knights of the Round Table.

Maybe he'll continue to forge a further alliance with the Line of Morgaine. Nick will then be further exposed to how they live and maneuver outside of the Order. He is trying to find a solution to stop the Legendborn Cycle without the Scion of Arthur having to die. In Bloodmarked, he found something out but he didn't get to elaborate on it further.

In General

I think the relationship between Sel and William is underrated.

There’s still much we don’t know about Cambions and unions. So far, we know:

Full Demon + Human = Cambion

Human + Cambion = Cambion

But what about: Full Demon + Cambion = ?

Cambion + Cambion = ?

Are these unions even possible or allowed and could they produce offspring?

On the cover of Bloodmarked, I think Bree is wearing the outfit that she wore during the Rite of Kings ceremony.

Valechaz is clearly enamored and fascinated with Bree and he's such a wildcard. Valec at times can also be hard to read. Will he be a friend or foe going forward?

This may be an unpopular opinion, but in terms of a TV series adaptation of the Legendborn Cycle, I would prefer that it be an animated TV series rather than a live-action series.

Catwoman e Batman

Il primo racconto che Conan Doyle scrive con protagonista il suo celebre detective Sherlock Holmes è "Uno Scandalo in Boemia". Cronologicamente credo venga dopo il romanzo "Il Segno dei Quattro".

L'incipit di questo racconto dice, riassumendo, che Holmes chiama Irene Adler semplicemente "La Donna". La chiama così per una sorta di deferenza nei suoi confronti ed è un caso più unico che raro perché fondamentalmente Holmes è un misogino che non ha certo una grande opinione delle donne, a voler essere buoni.

Dunque perché è così deferente verso questa donna?

La risposta è semplice: perché Irene Adler, attrice e arrivista, è riuscita a evitare di essere battuta da Holmes dimostrandosi arguta tanto quanto il detective.

Holmes ne rimane talmente colpito che come unico compenso per i servigi resi all'uomo che lo aveva ingaggiato per prendere l'attrice che lo stava ricattando, chiede di poter avere la foto di lei sul cui retro c'è una dedica indirizzata proprio al detective.

L'unica donna che prende il cuore al razionale e freddo Holmes è una donna capace di tenergli testa.

Anni dopo un disegnatore di fumetti di nome Bob Kane inserirà tra i nemici del personaggio da lui inventato, il celebre Batman, una donna ladra affascinante e sensuale che si maschera come un gatto quando compie le sue imprese.

Negli anni Catwoman è diventato un personaggio preponderante nell'universo batmaniano e meno definibile come "villain". Il rapporto con Batman è andato oltre il semplice antagonismo e si è andato sfumando. Avevano provato a mettere un personaggio stile "dama in pericolo" al fianco del Cavaliere Oscuro, prima una fidanzata ufficiale tale Julie Madison, poi una fotografa come Vicky Vale che doveva essere forse una copia di Lois Lane, poi però qualcuno ha capito, fortunatamente, che Batman non è un personaggio che possa essere sedotto dalla classica damigella in pericolo. No, serviva qualcuna di molto diversa da questo stereotipo.

C'era già una donna così. Certo negli anni '70 avevano trovato Talia, la figlia di Ra's Al Ghul, ma Catwoman c'era prima ed stata più o meno sempre presente nella storia editoriale di Batman, lo conosce da più tempo.

Catwoman, alias Selina Kyle, è intelligente, scaltra, affascinante, forte e tiene testa al Cavaliere Oscuro.

In tempi più recenti lo sceneggiatore J. Loeb è arrivato a far baciare i due. Anche se in passato era già successo in altre storie, la novità stavolta è che nella saga "Hush" Batman decide di rivelare la sua vera identità a Selina che nel frattempo è sempre meno villain e molto più hero.

Tuttavia i due non dureranno mai troppo insieme, perché in queste storie l'eroe invecchia irrimediabilmente se mette su famiglia. Così i due sono destinati a ballare insieme ancora a lungo, ad appartenersi senza mai aversi davvero.

Che storia, vero?

Oooh tell me your backstory for Rob

I'm going to give you the shorter version because I've literally scripted out scenarios at random locations and shit 😭 also for clarification I'm talking about the TV show twd rather than the comics, I'm too poor to get the comics 😔

so rob and my oc (calling her irene/kane from here) meet for the first time during their amazon expedition. Basically, it's the same starter plot from extinction just without the dinosaur lmao. So, about two weeks into the expedition is when the outbreak begins, the group gets a panicked radio message from one of the plane operators or something that we can barely understand.

A couple group members get freaked out and run off to the vehicle, leaving irene, rob, and professor what's his name behind.

They begin heading to Mexico, avoiding cities, around the thinner area between Brazil and Mexico rob and kane end up losing the professor. They continue to head up to the states, taking a pitstop in Texas because kane was always wanted to see the Houston Museum of Natural Science and Rob is such a boyfriend 🥹

The continue heading up to Washington D.C and end up getting captured at Terminus with Rick's group, they help Rick's group escape and get welcomed to travel with them, where they end up going to Alexandria. The two of them don't actually get together until after the vist to the museum, because I'm a whore with daddy issues and needed to have an age gap (21/22 - 33-34 roughly) so rob never made a move until she was around 23/24 making him 35/36, around the time they meet Rick's group, around 2 years into the apocalypse.

Bob Fosse's All That Jazz has a valedictory feeling to it, and not just because it's about a man foreseeing his own death, which strikingly foreshadows that of Fosse himself. It also feels like one of the last films of the 1970s, a decade associated with young hotshot American filmmakers who were determined to go their own way and to craft movies filled with a personal vision that didn't sugarcoat the material or pander and talk down to the audience. After them, the myth goes, came the deluge of movies made with a view to spawning sequels and franchises. That summary is oversimple, of course, but perhaps it does illuminate why a film like All That Jazz continues to fascinate viewers, despite its inherent messiness and occasional excessive self-indulgence. It's held together by Fosse's abundant mad energy and by a cunning, committed performance by Roy Scheider as the driven, workaholic, self-destructive Joe Gideon, whom no one would deny is a warts-and-all self-portrait by Fosse. All That Jazz is usually classified as a musical, because of its elaborate production numbers, but it fits the genre only loosely. It's a bit like 42nd Street (Lloyd Bacon, 1933) in that it's a "backstage musical" with a serious undercurrent, although the undercurrent becomes a torrent in All That Jazz, and the music becomes an ironic counterpoint to the sardonic drama of the life and death of Joe Gideon.

EA Sports FC 24: conheça as indicações ao Time do Ano

Os indicados ao Time do Ano, o famoso TOTY, de EA Sports FC 24 estão aqui. Neste domingo, foram revelados os jogadores escolhidos para a votação , que definirá os 11 titulares da aguardada seleção do Ultimate Team.

Alguns brasileiros estão na disputa: Alisson, Ederson, Dante, Marquinhos, Bremer, Bruno Guimarães e Vini Jr. E a novidade é que uma relação TOTY de mulheres também foi feita, seguindo estes mesmos moldes de indicadas em enquetes para a comunidade decidir as melhores. Entre elas, estão Debinha e Kerolin.

Após o término da votação, os vencedores ganharão cartas especiais (e bem roubadinhas), que serão disponibilizadas em packs. A EA também deve fazer DMEs especiais com outros jogadores e ICONs.
