Certified gay people

Ive never really understood the idea that a persons identity is innate and needs to be found. I suppose to some extent our identities are sculpted from birth and life but searching for the 'true' you sounds... impractical? at the very least. Why would you only look for yourself when you can create yourself?

I'm sorry but I will throw hands if you try to say Moon is a Mary Sue. She's not. She's worse. From like WT and onward, she serves no other purpose than to stand there for Winter and Qibli to use as pillars for their arcs and to spout plot relevant stuff when the story needs her to. She's not even a character. She's a plot device.

I love Moon and Moon Rising so much,,,but man I'm sad how much her character was wasted. Oh, and also the term "Mary Sue" is bloody stupid and doesn't mean anything. That too.

the issue with the prime!sonic shenanigans is the fact that. i agree with the twitter users but they r taking it too seriously. like yeah i agree, sonic wouldn't be too open with his affection and emotions, yeah i agree that the folks on the crew saying it's canon to the mainline thing should've showed it through the actual writing, yeah this kind of characterization goes against the point of the show, yeah they kinda maybe nerfed sonic etc etc

but here's the THING tho: it's not that serious? i can point out 300 other mischaracterizations that are 10000x more serious. like, sonic is going to be the type of character that changes thru time to match the demands of whoever they wanna cater to. it's obvious. and for sonic prime? didn't one of the crew of this show straight up say that yeah they are targeting a younger audience but still allow longtime fans to have a piece of the cake. it's obvious from the absurd amount of flashbacks, it's obvious from the dialogue. i think this is just smth thay they think the kids want, most esp with the sonic films.

Yeah, you can be upset that ur fave version of this character might get lost to time. yeah, you can be critical of the show and the way it handles everything. but lord almightyyyy this is a cartoon hedgehog!!!!! this is not thay serious!!! talk about it but don't be a bitch about it oh my godddd

Not sure what to call it. But I think I'm having like.. a midlife crisis over my style of writing? It's not the same as my past downers where I wonder what the point is and if I'm good enough and what not. Just a feeling that I haven't really been improving lately and need to sorta.. try writing things a bit differently? Not even sure if I'm making sense with this, but it's where my thoughts are right now and I don't even know where to start or how to begin on changing things up.

doing a paper on a book you love in part because you relate to it is a double-edged sword. on one hand, I am intrinsically motivated to work on it because I love this book! on the other hand, all this scholarship I'm reading that analyzes the main character feels like a personal attack

you know I don't really like Asian rep being flattened into kpop/anime/thai bl drama/the like, and I know a majority of it is outsourcing because it's cheaper to get already established IP instead of making your own, but the sheer amount of it is so. not annoying, but- I guess overwhelming? It's like people forget their critical thinking because -- in the case of a lot of these foreign media -- you're not just getting a specific kind of Asian rep, but you're also getting certain intersections with same-sex romances (which is easy to latch onto because it's a different culture and people can treat it as a fantasy world- there might be some orientalism there mayhaps). I feel like in the search for "new diverse media," people forget to look inwards at works by the Asian diaspora (possibly even being made in their own country!!) because of how big the Asian content market from across the world is. Haha, it's almost like the people of color in western countries don't have a voice and their stories don't count because the countries overseas (where those people of color belong, obviously) have shiny things like BL and K-Pop to fetishize/orientalize.

I'm not saying that Asian diaspora made content is not popular, because it is. The success of so many of those stories recently is evident by that. I'm just saying that when you zoom out and flatten all the forms of Asian rep we get, the majority is produced by people in Asia and not the diaspora. Which inherently means a difference in content and cultural norms, and having one be a bigger preference than the other in the eyes of the general public of the west carries implications.

chloes strategy is: if i am utterly insufferable to be around all the time on purpose, nobody will get close enough for me to care about them, so when they leave, i wont be hurt

the problem with this is the few times someone doesnt immediately back off due to chloes hostility, she gets attached anyway

alex, meanwhile, goes: if i am so insanely nice and people pleasing all the time, people will want to stay and not leave because i help them all the time always

the problem with this is people tend to just use her as a doormat and then leave regardless the second alex even slightly needs anything frok them

Weak for a character with a tough and scary ass exterior and vaguely soft interior reserved for only like 2 people that will ever exist to them because I lived my life as that character and now ruminate in my own redemption arc that leaves people never guessing that I could even act so angry and scary with my extremely subdued and soft exterior.

I know for myself that change is possible for a character whose hurting and afraid of trusting the world around them, and so I hold them closer to my chest, and smile.

The thwack of Thancred's fist meeting her ribs feels inescapable. Seike is numb to it, simply twisting her body with it to absorb the energy and lessen the blow --- but she knows it's still going to ache later, when the adrenaline wears off. He didn't try to hold back. She knows he'll regret it.

"Leave me alone," Thancred rasps, voice thick with rage. "I told you to."

He did and yet Seike can't help but seek the hurt out, to poke and prod at the gaping wound in both of them in hopes that it will heal cleaner. Picking at scabs isn't unfamiliar territory to her, pain even less so.

She'd known how this would end up before she ventured into the Antitower. Not the particulars, perhaps, but that Minfilia was never coming back was a truth she swallowed down long ago.

"You shouldn't be alone right now," she says. "Thancred."

"Why were you allowed a farewell." It's a bitter, resentful thing and he throws another sloppy punch; Seike catches his wrist and closes the distance between them, pressing a kiss to his closed fist.

It makes him hesitate before he crumbles to the ground, a puppet who had his strings cut, still with Seike holding onto him.
