In today's episode of Shut Up Robin, Nobody Cares:
I finished Maison Ikkoku back in February, and I had a lot of feelings about the series. (It's good, do yourself a favor and go read it if you haven't.) As I read through it, I couldn't shake the thought: this is the caliber of romantic development Rumiko Takahashi can bring to the table?? We could've had this kind of relationship development in InuYasha??? 😭😭
The other thought I couldn't shake: InuYasha fans who still question the sincerity and depth of InuYasha's feelings for Kagome might benefit from reading Maison Ikkoku all the way to the end. They should read the final chapters of Maison Ikkoku, think for awhile about the blatant parallel themes found in InuYasha, and then try reevaluating InuKag's dynamic.
Now, I should clarify: I think the InuYasha series already makes it abundantly self-evident that the Inu/Kag/Kik "triangle" (🙄) is a complex situation that puts InuYasha in an extremely difficult position. (Well, it puts all of them in a difficult position, but you get the idea.) You just have to read the series with your brain on to see that. To review: teenage boy is tricked and terrorized by a demonic murderer; that demon successfully murders the boy's ex while masquerading as him; later his ex is revived from the dead against her will, wanders the earth as a vengeful spirit for awhile (who wouldn't be pissed about being brought back into that bullshit?), and is actively stalked by the demon who already murdered her once; teenage boy is falling in love with someone else when this happens, but he still wants to save his ex from being re-victimized by the demon who already brutally murdered her once. Anyone who sees that situation and describes it with a straight face as "InuYasha needs to make up his mind already" is probably never going to reconsider their assessment of InuYasha's character. They've already formed an opinion in defiance of the evidence. That ship done sailed.
But for some folks, I think experiencing the way Maison Ikkoku explores the same relationship themes—and particularly how it resolves those themes in the final chapters—could help them re-evaluate the emotional nuances in InuKag's relationship, and maybe help to re-contextualize the Inu/Kag/Kik conflict.
The parallels between Godai/Kyoko and InuYasha/Kagome are pretty obvious—Rumiko Takahashi consistently revisits this relationship dynamic in her work (it's present in Mao to a lesser extent). But I think Maison Ikkoku more directly confronts the emotional complexity of that dynamic. You can feel the difference in how RT more directly explores the messiness, complications, and pain of a) grieving a former relationship even while falling in love with someone else, and b) loving someone who is still tangled up in grieving their past. The InuYasha series obviously deals with those themes too, but Maison Ikkoku brings more focus and resolution to its exploration.
This may be for two reasons: 1) Maison Ikkoku had an older audience, as it was published in a seinen magazine geared for adult men between 18 - 40 years old, and 2) the relationship tension between Godai/Kyoko pretty much constitutes the main story of Maison Ikkoku; in InuYasha, the plot (such as it is) revolves around a vengeance quest and the monster of the week, and the relationship tensions between InuKag are second to that. Maybe that's why RT was more willing to get into the weeds with Godai/Kyoko and to more directly resolve the tension.
InuYasha does have some standout chapters where it explicitly deals with the tension of InuKag's situation (e.g., chapter 78, chapter 124, chapter 176, chapter 286, chapter 458, etc.), but there's this distinct hesitance in the narrative to resolve that tension in a substantive way. That's one of my beefs with the InuYasha series: it gives us moments of standout, concrete relationship development which then doesn't impact the future narrative all that much. The same relationship conflicts play out over and over again, well past their narrative expiration dates. See: Miroku flirting with women right in front of Sango after they've acknowledged feelings for each other; also the entire Kaō arc, which just... I do not understand the narrative purpose of that arc when it just exacerbates tensions that already existed and resolves none of them. Anyway. I digress.
You could argue this hesitance to permanently resolve relationship conflict comes from the episodic nature of InuYasha's storytelling. There's some truth to that, but that's not a satisfying explanation for why the main couple's relational status quo remains inert for the latter half of the series. Maison Ikkoku also does this to an extent—the "will they, won't they?" tension is strung along for as long as possible—but in general Maison Ikkoku does a better job of allowing relationship development to actually affect the narrative. Moments of emotional revelation and growth do change the relational status quo between Godai and Kyoko. They don't stay in quite the same relationship limbo that InuYasha and Kagome get stuck in for the latter half of the series. (It probably also helps that Maison Ikkoku is significantly shorter than InuYasha.)
All that to say: I think Godai/Kyoko is actually a useful mirror for examining InuKag, because they share the same themes and relationship dynamics without sharing the same narrative failings.
Okay, so: big time major spoilers ahead for Maison Ikkoku. Stop here if you don't want to see the conclusion of that series.
I want to look at how Maison Ikkoku's conclusion simultaneously revisits and resolves the main conflict between Godai/Kyoko.

Ahhhhhh my feelings!!! Man I love this series.
Okay, let's review the major takeaways from this scene:
• Notice how the tension between Godai and Kyoko—Godai's struggle with insecurity and Kyoko's feelings for her deceased husband—mirrors the tension between InuKag. And notice that the reader is encouraged to sympathize with both Godai and Kyoko. Godai is not "at fault" for struggling with insecurity and feelings of jealousy. That's a natural human feeling to have, especially in a relationship that hasn't been anywhere near secure until very recently. And despite whatever jealousy or inadequacy he may be feeling, Godai tries to see things from Kyoko's perspective. Part of Godai's struggle—the heartache of it—is his understanding that Kyoko is also not at fault. It's not her fault that she married before she ever met Godai, it's not her fault her husband died, and it's not her fault that she's struggling with the grief of that tragedy. She's trying to reorient herself to her new life after loss; she's falling in love with Godai, but she's also scared of betraying her husband's memory. (Let's hold that mirror up to InuYasha now, shall we? SHALL WE?) Moving on from Soichiro emotionally represents to Kyoko a breach of duty to a loved one.
• To reiterate: neither Godai nor Kyoko are "at fault" in this situation. That's precisely why it's a tragedy. They both have to process painful, messy feelings; both their feelings are valid and understandable. (Hold that mirror up to InuKag, girl. HOLD IT UP.)
• Notice how Godai explicitly acknowledges that loving Kyoko means loving the Kyoko who once loved Soichiro. "On the day I met Kyoko, you were already within her. That's the Kyoko I fell in love with." It's impossible to divorce Kyoko from her feelings for her former husband: that part of her life significantly shaped her into who she is. And I just love that Godai is hashing out his feelings at Soichiro's grave: it shows a sort of respect for Soichiro's memory, but more importantly it also shows that Godai knows his negative feelings can't ultimately be "fixed" by Kyoko. If she could fix them, he'd be having this conversation with her. (And by this point in the series they have had this conversation.) But Godai knows he's the only one who can truly work through/resolve his insecurity—especially now, when Kyoko has already assured him that she loves him—and I love how the scene's setting subtly demonstrates that. Soichiro's ghost is haunting Godai's feelings, not Kyoko's, and Godai is trying to work through that with Soichiro himself. There's no love triangle to resolve here: what needs resolving is Godai's own feelings of inadequacy which no amount of assurance from Kyoko can ultimately "fix." This is his ghost to fight. (We get an echo of this kind of inner conflict in chapter 458 of InuYasha: Kagome directly wrestles with the "ghost" of Kikyo and struggles toward some resolution of her own insecurities.... Only for the Kaō arc to come along later and materially damage that resolution and character growth for no clear reason, BUT I DIGRESS.) And this scene shows that Godai wins that fight: he comes to understand that loving Kyoko has to include accepting her past. Kagome reaches a very similar understanding in chapters 175 and 176 of InuYasha.
• To reiterate: Maison Ikkoku's conclusion is not the resolution of a "love triangle." It's the resolution of a series-long conflict, which is completely different. In order for love triangles to work—to actually function as love triangles—two competing love interests have to be viable options. This is quite evidently not the case in Maison Ikkoku: Soichiro is dead at the start of the series. It's literally impossible for Kyoko to choose him in any meaningful way. RT blatantly acknowledges this early in the series when Kyoko's father-in-law tells her she has to live her life. I cannot stress enough how self-consciously the series is not about a love triangle between Godai/Kyoko/Soichiro. (Mitaka is another matter entirely, for a different post.) Rather, the series is about the damaging power of grief in our lives, the rocky and painfully non-linear journey to healing from that grief, and how messy, fraught, and ultimately profoundly beautiful it is to love another person for exactly who they are — past pain/trauma and all. (Please for the love of heaven hold that mirror up to InuKag.)
• No, you know what? I'm not leaving that at a parenthetical. I'm just gonna say it: exactly as Maison Ikkoku is not about a love triangle, InuYasha isn't either. For the same reasons as stated above, the Inu/Kag/Kik dynamic is not ultimately a love triangle because Kikyo is dead at the start of the series. And while her spirit is magically revived—in an altered/diminished form—she is still not truly alive. The story conspicuously communicates this: her body is literally created from decomposing bones and cannot sustain itself (she needs to consume souls—other deceased spirits—to remain animated), symbolically suggesting she is of the dead even as she walks among the living. This is a facsimile of life. RT is not subtle about this. Kikyo is a tragic and complex character whose arc can be interpreted in many ways, but I think it's fair to say that the series self-consciously represents her as a past which can't be recovered. The damage has been done. She is dead, time continues to move forward, and there's no reversing that. (That's, again, why it's a tragedy.) Even her resurrected body symbolically represents this reality via death imagery. Ergo, from the very start of the series—just as we see in Maison Ikkoku—Kikyo is not a truly viable option for InuYasha. He can't choose her in any meaningful way. To "choose" her would be to essentially choose death—abandonment of life—just as Kyoko choosing Soichiro would make her "a wife who hadn't died yet." Kikyo represents an irrecoverable past just as Soichiro does. And the main thematic trajectory of each series does not suggest that Kyoko/InuYasha should give up on life by choosing death — it suggests they should choose life. Godai and Kagome conspicuously represent life, the possibility of living into the future. (Kagome is literally from the future, that's how unsubtle RT is about this.)
(A quick aside while we're here: no, Kikyo's not being a viable option does nothing to diminish the sincerity of InuYasha's feelings for Kagome. Kagome is not a "second choice," for the love of God the series blatantly addresses that very thing many, many times—like it's right there y'all—and I have already written a long ass post about why Kagome's insecurity over InuYasha's feelings for her shouldn't be taken as gospel truth.)
So, rather than being an actual love triangle, I think the Inu/Kag/Kik dynamic is a complicated emotional landscape that explores the same themes Maison Ikkoku does: how grief and trauma affect our lives, how painful and messy it can be to heal from that grief, and that loving someone—choosing to take that mutual risk with them—means trusting that they mean it when they tell/show us they love us, and choosing to trust them more than our own insecurities.
It's just that Maison Ikkoku explores those themes a little better. 😅 Which is why I think it makes a good mirror for re-examining InuKag: all the same themes without all the narrative failings and missed opportunities. ✌🏼

If We Fall Anyway - Chapter 41
The change in quality of sound was immediately succeeded by the quiet clack of sandals on the gravelly riverside.
"Inuyasha."
"Kikyou." He replied with the same even tone as her greeting.

P.S. This one was so much fun to write :))

FanFiction ask game 4,24,40,75 please ☺️
HIII @liz8080!!! Thank you so much for the ask! 4. How do you choose which fics to write? they tend to chose themselves... no i'm serious. I start off with an idea (sometimes), and start to write and then the story goes yeahhhhhh we aren't feeling that you are going to go.... HERE. And there we go lol. Sometimes its just sitting at the computer going "ok- what are we writing today, let's find out" and them 4 hours later looking at it going "huh... ok." Not very technical I know, but that is like 90% of the stories lol. I have only really plotted one out with an outline, and by chapter 4 the story was off to the races laughing at me Guardian. 24. How do you choose whose POV to write in? Hmmm, that I think depends on the story and how I want to tell it. So I have one I am working on where Inuyasha is trying to make stovetop ramen for the first time, so it is in his POV. Other times I am in Kagome's. I tend to write in Inuyasha's POV I have noticed, but usually thats because I relate to him as a character, the outsider that is just kinda on the fringes, hides his emotions because then no one can hurt him, so I get him. I will say this... writing in Sesshomaru's POV is HARD...
40. What is your favorite world that you’ve created for a fic?
That would probably be the I Object World. I know a lot of people would think Guardian, but I Object was really personal, and yeah its based in New York which I know Very Very well, but at the same time, it was creating a new version of it that was more integrated with humans and yokai, but also not.
Though I do have to say I am also loving the Sense and Sensibility world, but that is lovingly borrowed from Jane Austen, so I don't take credit for it!
75. Is there a particular fic that readers gravitated towards that you didn’t expect?
So one is Just Tell Me What He Did..., it started as a reason for @neutronstarchild and I to rewatch Inuyasha... you know just to take note of all the modern era episodes... really... we swear... and it was just fun to write. When we added a surprise last chapter, it took off, when it was our way of explaining how all the cleanup in the modern era was accomplished, thinking Sesshomaru would absolutely still be alive, but its funny, and we love it!
The other is Soul in the Beast's Eyes, another collab written with Neutron. It is a birthday fic for Elkonigin, and focused on an Inuyasha whose demon took over at a young age and didn't release control until he was much older, and how that demon would react to an injured Kagome, taking care of her, and them slowly starting to love each other. It was a blast to write, and the fact that so many people have enjoyed it and love it really in some ways surprised me and also made me smile.

I finished Rin-ne. Or Rinne. All 40 volumes of it. One of the few Rumiko Takahashi manga that wasn't a huge megahit, but I loved it. I heard some negative things regarding it from Inuyasha fans but it felt in line with the comedy of Ranma 1/2. Especially later Ranma 1/2 when the format settled. It tackles a lot of similar stuff as Urusei Yatsura (which had a fair few ghost stories) but isn't as wacky or high energy. In fact, one thing that I really enjoy is how Sakura Mamiya is basically unfazed by anything. It isn't "subtle" comedy by any means, but it was fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main male protagonist (who forms a Rumic couple in a very very low key way) is the eternally poor Rinne Rokudo who frequently cries tears of blood for having to part with things that cost about like, ten dollars. The logistics of him always being poor don't quite make sense if you think about it. But they get a lot of mileage out of this, so much like Ataru's perviness or Ranma's competitiveness, you just roll with it for the jokes.
Tumblr media
Anyway, I have a lot of screenshots and the recurring cast is big and I'll go through them all and make coherent thoughts at some point but I just wanted to get my overall out there. It is very episodic, plots will most often resolve themselves in one chapter. Which means a lot of variety in ghosts, but it does make for formula. Which is fine for me, but I can understand it doesn't have that same universal appeal as Inuyasha's ongoing saga. Overall, I liked it and I do recommend checking it out if you like Urusei Yatsura or Ranma 1/2 for the comedy.

Inuyasha - Chapter 1 of 559...
Fuck it. I'm liveblogging this reread.
Tumblr media
If you want to read the Inuyasha manga along with me, you can find it here:
(If you're reading this site on your phone, the pop up ads are lame and keep regenerating. If you switch to the "desktop" version of the site, the ads are less obtrusive.)
Alright. I've been liveblogging at my sister for a few weeks and decided that no one person needs to deal with one of my hyperfixations to THAT degree... 😅
What spawned this reread was the fact that I started reading Mao and I dunno how to describe it. I like the characters NOW, but the entire story just feels mushy and directionless until around chapter 70. CHAPTER SEVENTY. Now things are moving along at a pretty good clip and the characters make more sense. But it's still a strange amalgamation of Inuyasha themes, characters, events, and even weapons. The reason I kept reading the story in the beginning was because Takahashi's ghost stories are fun and creepy on their own, and you got a new one every couple of chapters, but I was like...why don't I just reread Inuyasha again?
The first time I read it, I was reading scanlations as they were released and I remembered feeling let down by the ending, but I'm wondering if that was just a symptom of the waiting...but it's also possible the story goes aimless as well. I guess we'll find out... My dad read the manga after it was completed and he did not have the same reaction. He was like, what? The ending is cute!
I will tell you, though... Inuyasha hits different when you're 40 vs when you're 20.
Aight let's get this show on the road.
Tumblr media
Chapter 1. This story starts out with a bang. In 32 pages, we get THROWN into the story already in progress, meet four of our main players (Inuyasha, Kikyo, Kagome, and Kaede), we're introduced to the whole time travel element, and we find out that Kagome might be Kikyo's reincarnation. And that Kagome's proximity to Inuyasha and her being in danger is what awakens Inuyasha. Aaaaaaaaaaaaand we end on a big cliff hanger.
Tumblr media
I mean, what more could you want in a first chapter? You are introduced to so many questions. Who is Inuyasha? Why does he want to be a full demon? Who is Kikyo? Why did she pin Inuyasha to the tree? Is Kagome really the reincarnation of Kikyo? Will Inuyasha save the day or will he attack Kagome? If you don't know the story already, you're like, what is going into my eye holes??! And if you DO know the story already, that first bit of backstory hits pretty hard.
Okay. Goals going forward. I'm going to be reading this with an eye for Kikyo's motivations and Sango's storyline. I want to understand Kikyo and I don't know if her storyline is just poorly written or if her motivation just isn't clear because we're not directly following along with her story and instead, her appearances are interspersed along the main plot. Also, I just love Sango. Like, if you need a template for "Strong Female Character" that is actually fleshed out, with strengths and weaknesses and ideals and flaws, Sango is your girl.
Alright. That's all I got for Chapter 1. On to the next!

Inuyasha | 犬夜叉 | Ch.40: New Moon ☆
Forgoing my usual edit and ball, because I love these two pages so much, and they deserved to remain as-is in my little scrapbook. Everything matters in this scene, from Kagome's frustration that if Inuyasha had just told her, they wouldn't be here; Inuyasha admitting that he didn't trust her enough to tell her, his confession that this is how he's survived all this time; her upset that she thought they had a stronger bond than that; him bewildered by her crying at a time like this (idiot); her getting mad, and calling him an idiot, because even though Kagome has a heart of gold, sometimes she's quick to anger, especially when Inuyasha is, by definition, a goofball.
But most adorably, Shippo, who's ready and rarring to step up to the plate, as their only chance for survival (or so he thinks), even though he knows those chances are slim.
I love them so much. That's all ❤

Light Me A Lantern Chapter 40. Finale.
Tumblr media
Rating: T Pairing: Inuyasha/Kagome Summary:  Picking up the pieces after being separated for three years isn’t as easy as it may seem. A quiet, burning kind of chaos sweeps through Feudal Japan, and it’s going to take a lot more than a fairy tale ending to put things back together. They defeated a man who would become the Devil. Can they survive a man who would become a God?
Excerpt:
When the cool light faded, the dark was quick to take its place. It swallowed him whole, leaving no trace of the beach, the burning moon, the God beneath his palm - or the slender hand clasped in his. Sensation vanished, consciousness retreating  to the place behind his eyes, settling back within himself. The all-consuming shadow receded, and with its absence Inuyasha slowly became aware of a flickering, orange light pressing against the dark, not quite able to penetrate it. He became aware of the soft palate underneath his back, the scent of lingering smoke - not the smoke of a battlefield. The smoke of a hearth. Over the crackle and roar of a fire came the soft pelting of water running off a roof. A crack of thunder rumbled gentle and deep overhead.
All at once it slammed into Inuyasha. He bolted upright on his pallet with a gasp rough enough to tear at his already aching throat, torn from grief-stricken screams. The air dragged like fire down into his chest as his eyes struggled to adjust to the room. He’d been on that grassy hillside what felt like only moments ago, his body scrambling to keep up with the shock of the loss of grass beneath him and empty stars above. He saw the fire in the hearth first, its light searing into his eyes and blotching out his vision as he stared wildly around the room he found himself in.
“Inuyasha.”
The firm hand suddenly gripping his shoulder nearly had him turning to attack. Miroku instantly let go and raised his hands, knowing better than to test Inuyasha when he was like this, as if he was feral with his own fear. Gradually, the adrenaline rushed away and left Inuyasha feeling the weight of his exhaustion. His vision cleared to the familiar interior of Miroku and Sango’s home. As he sat there, his chest heaving, he took in the weary faces surrounding him; Miroku next to him, his eyes steady and reassuring. Rin, Shippo and Sango sat on the other side of the flames. The kitsune boy had removed his battle dirtied clothes and was wearing a spare robe that was still too big for him, wringing a rag into a bucket of dull, rusty water as he cleaned himself off. He’d stopped, rag dripping into the pale, when Inuyasha sat up. Rin had been wrapping a strip of cloth around a long gash on Sango’s bicep, already cleaned and topped with a sweet ointment. The youngest child, the one Inuyasha had not even met yet, lay in the cradle of Sango’s free arm, while the other three children all piled together sleeping in the far corner of the room with Jun and Kei watching dutifully over them.
Miroku reached a tentative hand to Inuyasha’s shoulder again. “Inuyasha,” he repeated, “You’re safe.”
“Where is sh-” the question was burning on his tongue with rising panic, but as Inuyasha searched manically around the room, he found the answer laying out beside him; Kagome, washed of any trace of blood in a clean white kimono.
I’m so not ready to say “the end” but this is it. The End.
It’s everything I’ve fantasized about for the past seven years, and I hope it is for you too. Thank you all so much for coming on this long journey with me. All my love 💕

I would love to hear your thoughts on Rumiko Takahashi's evolving art style! Personally, using Inuyasha as a frame of reference, I preferred the earlier art as opposed to the ending. But I'm sure you have a much more nuanced opinion, so u should share with the world 👀
Oh wow this is a complicated question!
Takahashi has been drawing manga for more than 40 years and her art style has changed a lot in that time. While I do not think certain points were objectively better than others, I do have my preferences.
First off I think her watercolors were always beautiful and that's the number 1 thing I miss with her modern style and digital coloring. It feels a little flat.
I am not the biggest fan of her really early work visually, like the short stories or early Urusei Yatsura or Maison Ikkoku. I think as those series continues her art just gets better and better, and the middle to the finale of Urusei Yatsura is completely gorgeous. (Same with Maison Ikkoku, though I think the difference is more pronounced in UY) Skinny, cartoony characters become more solid, broader and grounded.
For the stint of time she wrote Ranma 1/2 it was most consistently visually pleasing for me. At this point character get even more athletic and their legs get noticeably longer and their torsos get shorter, which is a little disconcerting, but I think it still works in the crazy mess of Ranma 1/2. The middle is probably the golden age though.
I completely agree with you about Inuyasha! The art style at the beginning, maybe the first 50 chapters, is my favorite where everyone is a little more rounded. At that point the proportions have the same issues as the end of Ranma 1/2 though. The middle is fine, though by the end everyone’s features look exactly the same (Takahashi was never great with this but by the end of Inuyasha I think it’s particularly pronounced.)
Her style for end of Inuyasha/Kyoukai no Rin-ne is not my favorite, I feel like it’s lost a lot of it’s early character and the character designs are feeling repetitive and have limited ability to express emotion. It’s more angular and I think that might contribute.
Haha I tried to be as brief as possible but it was still a pretty lengthy reply. Thanks so much for asking! :)

For the writer ask game!
🥸 Does anyone in IRL know you write fanfic or original fiction? If not, do you plan on telling anyone this year?
🍄 Are there any fandoms you've never written for but want to try?
🌈 What research do you plan on doing for your writing?
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, lovely!
Hello my dear @sereia1313!!!!
Tumblr media
🥸 Does anyone in IRL know you write fanfic or original fiction? If not, do you plan on telling anyone this year?
It's actually known at my job that I write fanfiction, only one person knows what fandom I write for but they don't read any of it. Some of my friends know and have read it, and I have made some now IRL friends through the fandom! I had a former co-worker, who actually followed me to the firm I work for now, who decided to tell people that oh he wasn't as geeky as I am, at least he doesn't write fanfiction, and people turned to me and went OH REALLY that must be so cool!
🍄 Are there any fandoms you've never written for but want to try?
So far I have actually only written for two fandoms. Inuyasha which y'all can find on Ao3 and FFN, and Sailor Moon which thankfully died and need to stay buried with the old Moonlight Romance website lol (we are talking back in 1999-2000 ish folks, a 17-18 year old writing is VERY different from the 40+ writing now, yes I am aging myself lol). I do want to try writing for the Kamisama Kiss and the Fruits Basket fandom, the other series for anime that I know well is Yona of the Dawn and Snow White with the Red Hair, but I have no ideas for them. I'm odd, for some reason I can't write fanfiction for live action movies, even though I am a huge Harry Potter and Star Trek fan I just can't make myself write for it. I can write in the world with another fandom, but not the characters themselves.
🌈 What research do you plan on doing for your writing?
I answered this question earlier , but also for some stories I tend to do a LOT of research (or even for a chapter). I never really know when I will decide to do a lot of research (except for Final Frontier. Lord that had about 25-30 hours of research before the first chapter was even written... its largely why a second chapter is still pending because I don't have that kind of time right now and my husband has moved on to other things lol).
So this is a hard one for me, because I don't usually plan on doing research for my stories unless its a SPECIFIC thing that I am trying to do, and then I fall down the rabbit hole and spend HOURS researching for like 5 paragraphs lol.
Thank you for the ask love!

Any news on Yashahime yet? Is Sesshomaru really 1000 years old?
Yes! Only one update ♡(.◜ω◝.)♡ for now and I'll copy and paste it here.
The other day, there was a recording for the music of the second chapter. There are 40 newly composed songs, and when putting them together with the songs of the first chapter they're more than 100.
Tumblr media
No, he is not 1000 years old, be careful of Anti Posts, they are extremely deceiving. His rightful age as a Dog Youkai was confirmed in a Inuyasha mobile game. His correct age is 400 years old and he is 19 in human years, he's basically still a teenager in my eyes, he was never an adult. The game also mentioned Rin as the person of his heart/of his affections. The game has Sesshomaru's Bio breakdown but only a few things are mentioned, especially his mother.
