This project has been a bit of an experiment for me. I didn't grow up delving too much into comics, instead I was drawn to animation, and while that is still one of my biggest influences, in recent years I've gained a huge appreciation for the art and visual storytelling of comics.

For me, this project serves a few different purposes. First, I have been wanting to tell this story for a while. The classic writing and story telling advice is to write what you know, and the way the hubby and I got together very much reminds me of a romantic comedy, so I thought it might be a good fit for my first foray into storytelling. Second, I've been working on leveling up my drawing skills for animation projects, and since comics have so much in common with storyboarding with the amount of drawing and consideration for story pacing, I thought this type of project would help my overall visual storytelling skills. Lastly, I wanted to play around with the Instagram profile formatting, and so designed the comic to fit across the three post grid.

It's definitely been a learning experience, and while there have certainly been challenges along the way, overall I've been enjoying the process. This project, in addition to all the comics I've been reading and enjoying as of late, has certainly inspired me to continue this type of work, perhaps exploring different formats moving forward.
