The Other Ships in My Fleet

So, I’ve already made a post talking about how I feel about certain ships in My Hero Academia, and another post about some of my other fandoms. Both posts got a lot of likes and reblogs, so I figured I’d talk about my ships from other fandoms. If this post also gets a lot of positive feedback, I’ll consider starting a second page to post my fan content for all of my fandoms, while still maintaining this one almost exclusively for My Hero Academia and Kiribaku specifically.

Klance (Keith x Lance) Voltron: Legendary Defender

I’m fully aware that this ship is probably not going to happen, but it’s really the only ship in the series that speaks to me. I will not lie, I am a big fan of dark and moody dating happy-go-lucky, and the rivals to friends to lovers element is just icing on the cake. It’s only further helped by Lance being Keith’s second-in-command. They help each other grow, and the trust that forms between them is cute and endearing. They also shared a major element to their characters. Both of them feel out of place, Keith because of his Galra heritage, and Lance because he doesn’t have a niche role.

Rabies/Rae x BB (Raven x Beast Boy) Teen Titans (2003)

While there wasn’t a lot of shipping fodder for these two in the 2003 iteration, the two are a canon couple in most versions of the teen titans, having been married in the comics (more than once, I think) so this is sort of a unique ship in that I ship it across every version of the two characters. Sporting a snarky moody goth and a lovable goofball, their dynamic was like that of an old married couple, or a moody teenager and her annoying little brother. Still, the two were good friends, and even though their personalities were polar opposites of each other, they had a lot of quiet, emotional moments together in the series. Whether you want to read them as friends or potential lovers, I think it’s hard to deny that there was a genuinely nice bond between the pair.

Garnet/Rupphire (Ruby x Sapphire) Steven Universe

As the show’s literal physical manifestation of love and a perfect relationship, it’s hard not to like the relationship between these two adorable lesbians. With the show sometimes being edited to remove the queer elements, it’s absolutely hysterical that they had the two get married in an episode very important to the plot, and put Ruby in the dress so that absolutely nobody could misinterpret her as a male. Editing it would only confuse viewers as to why everybody is in wedding attire, thus taking a very satisfying stance against censors and bigotry. Garnet also marks a first in children’s programming as the first same-sex wedding in a children’s animated show, at least as far as I’m aware.

Pearl x Mystery Girl Steven Unieverse

Although only featured in a single episode and having no dialogue, Mystery Girl (possibly named Sabina) is a very important element to Pearl’s character, being her first step toward moving on from Rose Quartz. There were fans that hoped that Mystery Girl would come back, but even if she doesn’t, she’s still important to Pearl’s character development.

Amedot (Amethyst x Peridot) Steven Universe

I know a lot of people prefer Lapidot, but frankly I find Lapis too selfish and cold-hearted to be ready for a relationship as she currently stands. I find Amethyst to be a better fit for Peridot, since they both share issues with their height. That, and the way the show frames them has romantic comedy tropes interwoven into their scenes. But even if they’re just friends, Amethyst’s approval means so much to Peridot.

Stevonnie (Steven Universe x Connie Maheswaren) Steven Universe

I’m not usually a fan of lead boy dates lead girl ships, as they tend to be very poorly done, and many feel forced, or are just boring and predictable. However, the bond between these two feels very genuine. They don’t feel like a lead boy and lead girl forced into a relationship at all. They come together very naturally, and the show takes its time to build their friendship up slowly. The show remembers that they’re kids first, friends second, jam buds third, and love interests last.

Tomstar (Tom Lucitor x Star Butterfly) Star Vs the Forces of Evil

Considering the show’s themes of monsters, racism, and not judging evil at face value, this ship serves as the most thematically poignant to the narrative that the show is setting up. It also makes Star a stronger parallel to her “evil” great great something grandmother, Eclipsa. Both are monster sympathizers with monster boyfriends. While the blood moon bonds complicate things, I see this ship as the most relevant to the themes and messages the show seems to want to send.

Tomco (Tom Lucitor x Marco Diaz) Star Vs the Forces of Evil

More of a joke/crack ship, I know it’s unlikely, but the entire episode of Friendenemies had romantic comedy written all over it. Between the literal in-universe break-up song to the show’s promotional art being inspired by dime store pulp romance novels fuel the fire that keeps this ship afloat.

Bumblebee/Bumbleby (Blake Belladonna x Yang Xiao Long) RWBY

Partners, teammates, and close friends, the ship really took off starting in season 2 during the episode “Burning the Candle”, as Blake spiraled into self-destructive habits due to obsessing over her problems. Nobody is able to get through to her until Yang comes in to talk to her. She doesn’t lecture her or beg her to stop. She instead forms a bridge of trust by first opening up about a similar situation she’s been in, and how she knows first hand that this sort of spiraling can only have negative impacts. They are shown to be parallels, as both girls are negatively effected by a loved one no longer in their life, and the trust issues that spring from that loved one’s actions. Yang was abandoned by her mother, a problem which she mentions Blake repeated. For Blake, it was the uncertainty of trusting someone’s character, and being afraid of someone slowly turning into someone else. She explicitly states in season 3 that her ex started off a nice guy, like Yang. The first time he hurt someone, there was a reason. There was always an excuse. Until eventually, she became the pardoner. The one excusing his actions. And, she expresses the fear that Yang could be following a similar path. Both girls have been hurt by someone in the past, and both girls are afraid of being hurt the same way again, and inadvertently hurt each other the same way as someone else has. It’s also known that RWBY characters tend to represent or be based on fairy tale characters. Yang is Goldilocks, and Blake is Beauty from Beauty and the Beast. However, based on the lyrics from Red Like Roses “Black the Beast descends from shadows, Yellow Beauty burns gold”, there seems to be an implication that Yang is the Beauty to Blake’s Beast. This is interestingly supported by Blake’s name. Blake is a Celtic name meaning both Black and White, and Belladonna literally means Beautiful Woman in Italian, but is also the name of a very poisonous plant often mistaken for the harmless blueberry. The duality of her name could be pointing to how she plays the dual role of both Beauty and Beast.

Seamonkeys (Sun Wukong x Neptune Vasilias) RWBY

A bit more of a crack ship, these two lovable idiots are far less likely to be canon, but since Sun is Yang’s main competition for Blake’s heart, I have no problem shipping him off elsewhere with his goofy best friend. Although they act more like usual best friends in the canon show, their relationship does have a much gayer tone in the less canon comedy show RWBY Chibi, where Neptune almost seems to act like a jealous clingy girlfriend a lot of the times. I doubt the ship would ever sail, but I mostly ship it because they’re cute together. Although, with season 6 just starting, I got the vibe that Sun was stepping aside to let Bumblebee sail uninhibited. Sun doesn’t really have a third popular ship, it’s just Black Sun and Seamonkeys, so this ship may be gaining validity in the future.

Gumlee (Marshall Lee x Prince Gumball) Adventure Time with Fiona and Cake

The male counterpart to Bubbline (Princess Bubblegum x Marceline), there’s no real difference between the two pairs other than their genders, and Gumball preferring baking while Bubblegum prefers science. Because they are effectively just gender-swapped clones of the canon ship, anything canonical between the girls is also technically canon with these two. It’s not that I don’t like Bubbline, but when given the choice between gay or lesbian versions of a couple, I’m going to be naturally inclined to lean toward the gay version.

Sasunaru/Narusasu (Sasuke Uchiha x Naruto Uzumaki) Naruto

Maybe there’s a cultural aspect I’m unaware of, but it’s a bit of a running gag in the Naruto fanbase at this point that Naruto is obsessed with Sasuke. So much so that he seems to care about him way beyond normal friendship. With how much these two obsess over one another, it’s no surprise why this became such a popular pairing. Their dynamic even dwarfed Hinata’s heartfelt confession of her love during the Pain Invasion Arc, because as soon as that ended, did Naruto go talk to Hinata? No, he immediately started thinking about Sasuke. Hinata definitely got the shaft in part II, which is a shame because I really loved her character.

Bob and Linda Belcher Bob’s Burgers

More of an honorable mention than a full on ship, I wanted to highlight them as one of adult animation’s only married couples that actually still like each other. In the wake of the popularity of the Simpsons, and the cementing of the genre with Family Guy, the stock dynamic of idiot husband and enraged but supportive wife became a recurring trope. Before long, every single animated sitcom-esque family fell into this very annoying cliche. So, finding a couple in adult animation that are not only married but still manage to show they love each other is amazing. Their marriage isn’t on the rocks, they find time to at least try and be romantic, and even when they have bets or are on opposing sides of something, the show never forgets that these two love each other at the end of the day.

Captain Swan (Killian “Hook” Jones x Emma Swan) Once Upon A Time

This relationship between Captain Hook and the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming might sound odd on paper, but this couple is by far one of the healthiest relationships in the series. Both Hook and Emma come from broken lives, and together build themselves up to something stronger. In a melodrama surrounding fairy tales, both characters are surprisingly grounded, realistic, and skeptical cynics, a very stark contrast from the usual wide-eyed lovey-dovey couples Disney is known for. Emma’s tendency to put up walls and Killian’s tendency to always put himself first are both slowly broken down over time as Killian tries to tear down Emma’s walls and get to know her while she works on building a foundation of trust between them. The pairing feels very organic, and they definitely feel like the most realistic couple in the series as they both take turns stumbling and working toward being good for each other.

Rumbelle (Rumplestiltskin x Belle) Once Upon A Time

In the early seasons, this couple was beautiful to watch. I truly loved their chemistry and dynamic, as both of them were given such strong characteristics without simplifying either of them. However, as the show went on, it started to lose that power. The couple started to feel toxic as Belle kept waiting for Rumple to change, and he kept on lying and lying. It even reached a stopping point. A perfect one. Rumple was redeemed. He was a good man again. He could be the man Belle deserved. But instead, he slipped right back into his old ways. It was then that I fell off the band wagon for this ship. I loved it once, until I got sick of watching him hurt her over and over.

Daenerys Targaryen x Khal Drogo Game of Thrones

Although together only for a short while, this power couple won audiences over very quickly, as Drogo’s gruff but passionate affection mixed with Danny’s growing confidence and rise to power made these two iconic.

Renly Baratheon x Ser Loras Tyrell Game of Thrones

Another short-lived relationship, the remarkable thing is that Renly was literally the only character vying for the throne with fully good intentions for the realm. He was concerned with the needs of the people, and was the only morally good candidate in the War of Five Kings. Sadly, the ydidn’t get much screen time, but they were still a strong couple.

Peraltiago (Jake Peralta x Amy Santiago) Brooklyn 99

A rare exception to the don’t force the leads to date rule, the show let them form a bond over time that went from a friendly childish rivalry to a friendly dating rivalry. While each character experiences change and growth, it is not at the expense of their personalities, and the progression feels like it was meant to happen.

Weakness

A Gumlee family fic I wrote with the precious help of my little pervs @littler-m-d and @sounflee :3 Everything takes place in the same canon as Sounf's comics do Beginning inspired by this comic Leo's plushie is the one seen here Leo belongs to Sounfy ! And if you don't know about this baby, just read that And if there are any mistakes or things that you don't understand, please tell me about it ! English is not my native language, so there might be some weird stuff. xD Just tell me so I can correct it !

It had been a really busy day for the little family. Busy, but more than that, enjoyable and fun.

Today was Leo’s third birthday. It had already been 3 years since their little angel came into their life… And he was growing up so fast. Despite his young age, the little prince already knew how to express himself really well, it was pretty obvious that he’d inherited the intelligence of his daddy. And everyday, he kept making them so undeniably proud and happy.

And so, to celebrate the event, they’d invited Finn and Flame over for the afternoon, knowing that they had a kid who was almost the same age as Leo was. After all, their little boy might very well be really smart and well behaved, but he still was a bit shy when he was in the company of other children, and they wanted to help him learn how to make friends. And they’d made a good choice there, because once they’d grown used to each other, the two kids had spent all day playing together, even if they’d ended up putting a banana guard on fire. How they did it was pretty much a mystery, but… Well, there was no real damage done anyway, so they only got scolded a bit by their parents, before going back to playing more calmly. Then, as the evening was coming up, they’d persuaded their friends to stay for dinner, since the kids were visibly getting along well, and the day ended nicely, with a pretty red birthday cake that the Candy King had baked for the occasion.

It was getting pretty late now, and their guests had gone back home, so it was time for everyone to rest after the nice day they’d spent together. Gumball picked up his cute son in his arms, a slight smile forming on his face, as he was watching him rest his head on his shoulder.

« It’s time to go to sleep now, sweetheart. We’ll ask Blake to come by again another time if you want. » He whispered softly, as the little boy was rubbing his tired eyes, barely able to keep them open.

« … But Daddy… I’m not tired… » He said in an adorable voice, making the young man laugh a bit and hug him tenderly. He then carried him all the way to his room, and bent down a bit to gently drop him in his bed, pulling the covers over Leo to keep him warm.

« … Will Papa come tell me good night…? » A little voice interrupted Gumball in his actions, who turned his gaze to the child, a sweet smile on his lips, before gently stroking his light pink hair.

« I’ll go tell him to. Good night my Leo, sweet dreams. » He then lightly kissed his son on the forehead, before getting up and turning on his nightlight, letting the door half open as he left the room.

Marshall was probably still helping Peppermint Maid clean up a bit, but he could take over for him so that his man could go tell good night to their son. He was lost in his thoughts, a happy smile on his lips as he was striding down the hallway, when a weird sensation filled him, and made him stop in his tracks, losing his smile.

It felt as if someone was watching him. This feeling sent a shiver down his spine, and he began glancing around, uneasiness taking over him, as he tried to make out a silhouette in the shadows. But before his eyes could find anything, a female sounding voice broke the silence, as she started laughing.

« I didn’t think you’d notice me, ‘Your Highness’… Well, whatever, that just makes things easier for me. » Gumball froze when he heard the unfamiliar voice, and he squinted a bit, finally perceiving the shape of someone in the darkness ahead, making their way towards him. The intruder was a woman he’d never met before, with pale grey skin and long white hair, and a mischievous smile on her lips. And he had absolutely no intention of trusting her, frowning as he took a few steps backwards, his eyes never leaving her.

« … Who are you and what are you doing here…? Get out before I make you regret it. » He said with a threatening expression, even if he had no hopes of the intruder leaving, seeing how she had already come all this way and had apparently been waiting for him in the darkness. The woman laughed once again when hearing his agressive tone, not seeming to take him seriously at all, and she kept on moving closer to him instead, not even taking his threats into consideration.

« Well well, you seem pretty confident ! But it’s just you and me here, and you should learn to be careful in certain situations… Who knows ? They could end up being the end of you. » As she said this, she made a swift gesture to try and reach him, but the King evaded the blow, sidestepping. And he’d done well, because as he looked more carefully at her hand, a metal piece caught his eye, and he could soon make out a blade that she’d stealthily taken out, turning pale when he finally grasped the situation. She’d come here with a weapon, and attacked him… This person knew what she was doing. And it made his blood run cold. Just the idea that she could have found Marshall, or even Leo before him…

He didn’t have any time to think more into it though, because the stranger started talking once again, never losing her menacing smile as she was staring at him.

« Now, tell me… What did you do to him ?

- What did I… What the flip are you even talking about, you lunatic ?!

- Shut up ! I know you must’ve done something to him or he’d never have come to this shit hole willingly, and even less to be with a wimp like you ! What kind of brainwash did you do to him ?! » She was just spouting nonsense now, as Gumball was slowly backing up once again, more and more puzzled at what was going on. What exactly…?

« The Vampire King I know wouldn’t give two shits about you ! Someone can’t change that much… That’s why I’m sure it had something to do with you, you viper ! Everyone knows that your specialty is manipulating people ! What did you tell him, hm ?! The only way I can bring him back now… Is to get rid of you ! Then he’ll come back to his senses ! » The woman screamed while glaring at him with an accusative look, getting ready to slice him once again. That crazy girl knew Marshall ?! … Well actually, it wasn’t that surprising now that he thought about it. He used to hang out with a lot of weird people during the time when they were appart. But to think that one of them would dare come here…

She tried to stab him once again, her blade now in plain sight, visibly trying to injure him, but Gumball dodged her attacks one after the other. He was a King after all, and he was way older than she was, so of course he’d learned a bit of self defense over the years. Since, well… His guards were pretty much useless most of the time. He had to take care of some stuff by himself. And glob knows that he would take even more lessons after this incident. He needed to protect his family himself, since no one else would do it… Of course, Marshall was already really strong, he knew that, but that didn’t mean that he just had to sit and wait while he protected them. He wanted to help as well.

And up until now at least, he was doing pretty well considering the situation, since he had managed not to get hit even once by the crazy intruder. There was still a problem that needed to be taken care of though… He couldn’t stay here. What if they attracted the attention of others…? He didn’t want any unnecessary victims here, and he needed to find a way to get rid of her, and quick. Before anything happened. He was thinking of a way to trick her into leaving the building, when a little voice brought him back to his senses, and he turned his head, a horrified look on his face as he stared at the one to whom it belonged.

« Daddy… You promised you’d get Papa to come tell me good night… » Said Leo as he was looking at him with a sleepy expression, squeezing his black bat plushie against him. Dammit, why now out of all times…! His opponent was closer to the child, and even though he tried to hurry to his side, the woman got there first, grabbing the kid by the arm, before glaring at Gumball in disgust.

« Are you serious ? A kid ?! His ?! Marshall always hated kids, as much as he hated you ! Now I’m sure that you must’ve done something to him ! » She shouted as she was still clutching Leo by the arm, the little vampire calling his dad with a terrified look on his face, trying to worm his way out of her grasp. The Candy King was frozen with fear, his eyes going from his son to the girl, panic rapidly taking over him as he answered in a trembling voice.

« Don’t touch him ! I-I’ll let you do anything you want to me, but please, let him go ! He didn’t do anything wrong, he’s just a child ! Just, please… Don’t hurt him…! » His eyes were full of terror now, as he was watching them, his heart racing faster than ever. He couldn’t think straight anymore, just the thought of her hurting his precious Leo made him feel sick.

« You’re pitiful… Crawling like a worm. I knew you were way too weak for someone like him ! The only thing that I can do to make him realize his mistakes is to make you both disappear. Then he’ll understand that you meant nothing to him ! » Her expression was one of hatred as she uttered those words, determined, and she finally raised her weapon in the air, preparing to strike the kid.

But as she was about to hurt him, a voice rang out, and without leaving her any time to react, Marshall fiercely tackled her and pushed her against the wall with violence.

« GET YOUR FUCKING HANDS OFF MY BABY ! » He yelled before attacking her, as he took the blow instead of his kid, the blade leaving a deep wound in his side. But he couldn’t care less anyway, since his healing powers made it as effective as a scratch - despite it still hurting like hell - and even if it didn’t, he would’ve still done it to protect his baby boy. The shock was enough to stun the woman and make her loosen her grip on the boy’s arm, enough for the vampire to snatch Leo from her and take him in his arms, quickly stepping backwards to keep him out of her reach. The man’s eyes were full of rage, glowing crimson as he was glaring at her and growling faintly, his fangs showing, and it took him a moment before he started talking, as Gumball was staying perfectly still and their son had his little arms tightly wrapped around his father’s neck, shaking a bit after the fright he’d just endured.

« … What did you come here for, Ashley ?! We’re finished. I don’t want you in my life ever again. And you dare threaten my family… You better get out of here right now before I change my mind and decide to tear you to pieces. » The woman finally got back to her senses when she heard his voice, and she gazed at him, giving a faint smile, as if she didn’t understand what he’d just said a second ago.

« Marshall… I’d been looking for you for a while now. Don’t you worry, I’ll help you pull yourself together. And then everything will go back to how it used to be… How it should be. Far away from this sickening place, just the two of us, free like we always were. » The more she talked, and the more the vampire was starting to see that she’d completely lost it. Well, it was highly possible that she was completely crazy from the start, it’s just that he’d made some bad decisions, and had ended up with her for a while. One of the worst choice he’d made in his life, to be honest. But now, it seemed like she got the wrong idea about everything, and because of that, she’d attempted to hurt the two people that mattered the most to him, even more than his own life. Even if he didn’t really expect it to work… He still felt like he owed her an explanation, to at least try and make her understand. And so, Marshall took in a deep breath, calming himself down a bit, before finally answering her.

« You don’t have to help me ‘pull myself together’, since I’m perfectly myself this way. It will never go back to how it used to be, because this is my life now, I chose it, and I’ll never let anyone take it away from me. Now go home. It’s over.

- Oh no, I don’t think it is… The Marshall I knew would never have become so weak as to have such obvious weaknesses. And he wouldn’t have had any mercy for me either… I know there’s something wrong with you, and I’ll make you realize it, whether you like it or not. » As he was listening to her though, the man was becoming even more frustrated, and he frowned, still as tense. Was she really that stupid as to not understand what had really happened ?! Guess he had no choice but to tell her himself then. So he began talking once again, as he pinched the base of his nose with an irritated expression, closing his eyes for an instant.

« Glob dammit… Stop talking already ! Why can’t you just figure it out yourself ?! The way I was when I was with you, it… I turned out like that because I was heartbroken, okay ?! Our relationship was just a pitiful attempt to forget Bubba, and it failed miserably ! You weren’t enough to make me forget about him… No one was. » Marshall sighed as he said that, and he turned his gaze to his lover, observing him for a few moments and hugging their little boy even tighter, gently stroking his back to comfort him.

« I felt even worse, and I became a complete asshole. I never wanna go through something like that ever again… So, just move on ! I won’t come back to you, ever ! I’m sorry I used you for selfish reasons, but that’s just how it is. I decided to come here because I love him more that I’ve ever loved anyone in my long, lonely life. So don’t come near my family ever again. » This time, he’d told her about everything. But that’s without surprise that he heard her laugh once again, as if she didn’t listen to what he’d just told her, still determined to act out her little play despite the will of the one she claimed to be doing this for.

« I told you, there’s no need to try to change my mind. I already know what I must do. » And as Ashley was still laughing confidently for whatever reason, her stubbornness never weakening in the least bit, something attracted Gumball’s attention, and he soon called out to his lover with a horrified expression, staring at him.

« Marshall, your wound…! » The injury that the intruder had inflicted him was supposed to be long gone, thanks to the powerful healing abilities that the vampire had gained. But as he looked down to his own waist, he noticed that it was not the case, and there was now a small pool of scarlet liquid at his feet. The man started to feel dizzy, and he had to lean his back on the wall to avoid falling and hurting Leo, slowly sliding to the floor, while never letting go of the child nevertheless. His arm was tightly wrapped around his kid’s waist, whilst his other hand was pressing up against the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. He had to protect him…

« … What… The hell did you do to me, you dirty witch…?! » At those words, the woman laughed once again, and came closer to him, a mischievous smile on her lips as she stared at him for a few moments.

« You probably don’t remember, but… A while ago, when you were still mine, we went to terrorize some idiots in the evil forest. Unfortunately, you pricked your hand on a plant, and the cut didn’t go away for a few days. Seems surprising, doesn’t it ? Especially for the strong Vampire King and his impressive healing powers… And, as you said, I’m a witch, so this kind of thing is my specialty. Took me a while to find that plant again, but I finally did. You didn’t think I’d come here unprepared, did you ? My goal is to bring you back after all, even if you still think that’s not what you want. But I know what you really need. I’m the only one who knows. » As she said those last words, she crouched in front of him, putting her hands on each side of her face while watching him in awe.

Now he was sure that she was definitely off her rocker… But the vampire was currently way too weak to even get up, and the only thing he was able to do was squeeze his kid against him, and throw a death stare at his ex, cursing as he was feeling his strength leave him.

« … Fuck… » He couldn’t let her hurt his precious family. He had to do something to make it stop, anything… But before he was even able to think of a way to force her to back off, it was Gumball who reacted.

He couldn’t stay still anymore. This woman had come here with the intent to destroy everything he held dear… She had tried to hurt his sweet Leo, and now, because of her, his man was slowly bleeding to death on the floor. And it’s this sight that had rendered him unable to move up until now. He was terrified. He didn’t want to lose him, he wouldn’t be able to continue on living without him… But he couldn’t stand her laugh any longer. No one was allowed to touch his family. No one. He’d never forgive her for what she’d done. His blood ran cold, and without thinking any further, the Candy King suddenly grabbed one of the swords that was on display, hung up on the wall, and swung it at her back, overtaken by anger.

« I SAID GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY FAMILY ! » He yelled as the witch let out a high pitched shriek, falling on her hands, even though she rapidly got back up to face him. She seemed to stumble a bit due to her injury, but was still quite fast, and she stared at him with rage, clutching the knife she still had in hand.

« You little shit ! I’ll make you pay for that ! You’re useless, if you would just die it would be better for everyone ! You’re nothing but a selfish, pretentious little tyran trying to control others, but you’re weak ! So weak you can’t even protect a brat ! How do you think people will trust someone like-… » She couldn’t finish her sentence though, interrupted in the middle of it, as Gumball pierced her torso with his sword, the blade coming out through the other side, dripping crimson on the floor. His breathing was erratic, and his berserk gaze fixed on her as he was shaking a bit, almost looking insane. He finally pulled his weapon out, and Ashley fell to the ground, limp, her blood slowly staining the tiles of the corridor as he dropped his sword to the ground and just stood there, staring at her twitching body.

Nothing was more precious to him than his family. He would protect them, no matter what. And if he had to rip open the ones who tried to harm his loved ones… Then he would do it. Again, and again, and again. Without ever looking back. They deserved to die. All of them.

His mind was filling up with thoughts like these, as he seemed to have lost it completely, but it was his lover’s voice calling his name that helped him snap out of it, as well as his touch, the vampire grabbing his trembling hand, making him flinch slightly.

To be honest, Marshall had silently watched the scene up until now, the shock of seeing his significant other in such a situation rendering him unable to move, as well as the fact that his blood loss made him so weak. He’d never seen Gumball in such a state before. Never in the hundreds of years that he’d spent with him. That’s why, seeing the proud Candy King losing it so badly had been a complete blow. But all of his instincts were telling him to bring back his sweet Bubba, the man he loved so much, instead of the stranger he had in front of him at this moment. So he called his name, and winced a bit as a endured the pain of his wound to bend forward and grab his hand, bringing him closer.

« Bubba…! It’s okay, it’s over now… Come here. Don’t look at her, just look at me. » He whispered in a reassuring tone, as his lover finally fell to his knees and rested his trembling body against his, nestling his face in his neck. The vampire then wrapped his arm around his waist, since his other arm was already hugging Leo, tightly squeezing his loved ones against him while he kept on murmuring comforting words to them.

Only then did Peppermint Maid enter the hallway and discover the carnage, gasping before waking the other servants for help. They then called Doctor Prince, who reluctantly came despite the late hour, and attended to Marshall’s wound, patching him up. Everything then got taken care of by the candy people. They disposed of the intruder’s body, cleaned all of the bloodstains, and tidied everything up, as the Candy King was still unable to do anything, the shock still leaving him powerless. Right now, the only thing he needed was to keep his family as close as possible, and never let them go ever again.

They’d gone back to their room, exceptionally allowing Leo to sleep with them after the events of the evening. It had taken the little family long hours before they were finally able to fall asleep, despite every one of them being so exhausted. But Gumball’s eyes opened as the sun was appearing behind the horizon line, a slight light entering the room through the thick curtains, the king squinting slightly. There were dark circles under his eyes, and he leaned on his elbows while he watched his loved ones soundly asleep, Marshall’s arm still resting on the king’s waist, and their son sleeping curled up between the two of them. He extended his arm and lovingly caressed the child’s hair, his gaze never leaving him, getting lost in his thoughts.

He loved them both more than anything else. The incident that they’d just gone through… Maybe it wouldn’t be the last one. Maybe they had to be prepared in case something like that happened once again. Maybe someone stronger wanted to tear them apart… And when they’d attack, he’d need to be ready. If no one else was going to do it, then he would have to be the one to protect his family. And he was definitely going to succeed, this time.

He was brought back to his senses by his lover’s voice, as the vampire had woken up as well, and was now gazing at him, his fingertips gently brushing Gumball’s cheek.

« … How are you doing, baby…? » The man asked in a low voice, as to not wake up their little wonder, even though he wanted to make sure his love was feeling better now. And the Candy King answered him with a tender smile, grabbing his hand to lay a sweet kiss on it.

« … I’m okay. » As long as he was alongside him, then everything was fine. He would be able to be stronger every day, with him. No matter what.
