this is so cringe to come in here and say this but I lay my sword down strip my armor off and admit to you that in 2021-2022 I was a c!dream apologist Im so sorry i learned media literacy u were right all along ( I never actively fought with or spoke bad abt u I think I actually still followed u for ur art I just like, quietly disagreed lmfao ) anyway I mean. It's probably mainly that I was 14-15 ( insane horrible thing to be ) and saw a dramatic emo guy that had a 'fall from grace' comparing his early dsmp days to his prison ones and it fueled more interest and therefore sympathy from me that in his kind of freaky evilness he was still like "waa but I miss my friends .. and ... cat 🥺🥺" anyway. That's my attempt at analyzing why I felt so passionately abt him being a sad boy, also it just felt cool to be contrarian, I don't know but it was. Stupid. Consider this vindication on ur part

I’m 100% sure it definitely was because u were young and naive lol. But I’m glad u don’t think that anymore … but to vent for a minute like.. idk I don’t understand how you could ever find something to woobify that wasn’t either manipulated by the character and/or obsession with the Real Guy who is also a fucking serial manipulator. who would have thought.

It’s really frustrating to talk to or even see c!dream apologists because the constant denial that he never cared about anything but victimizing ctommy because he’s a sick pathetic fucking freak is just so upsetting lmfaooo. It’s also creepy and makes me feel like Hope Is Lost and men who perpetuate abuse will always have power over the narrative, both in fiction and irl. scary fuckin boots.

It also should be said that c!Tommy wasn't happy at the end of that experience. It wasn't a sweet thanks. It was bitter.

Like yeah im sure he's happy c!Wilbur didn't actually throw away the real discs but based off what he said it's clear there's a lot there. There's the "you take things that are mine and use them" (paraphrased) quote, which is a hint that this is something that's happened before in ctommys eyes and thus left unaddressed in their conversation today. There's the fact c!Wilbur used his discs and threatened his life in front of him without telling him the plan, trusting him to know the plan. There's the fact c!Wilbur made parts of that moment about him when he doesn't know that the discs aren't the full extent of c!Dreams obsession with c!Tommy. There's the fact c!Tommy learned that c!Wilbur is valuable to c!Dream, and thus can be controlled. There's the fact c!Tommy said thank you, afraid to tell c!Wilbur the bitterness about the situation. It wasn't a happy thanks, it wasnt a concluding thanks, it was a tired and rough thanks.

thinking about how cdream took ctommys treasures and friendships and boyhood and warped them all into pawns in his sick obsession with controlling him and how because of that nothing ctommy enjoyed from before can just be fun anymore everything carries this deadly weight of its own value to him and will always be reminders of everything he’s had to do to keep them or get them back. the discs will never just be fun valuable music discs tubbo can never Just be his best friend the hobbit hole will never Just be his home. everything represents something that’s been been twisted by dreams narrative and forced into the constant push and pull between him and tommy. and anything tommy loves will always be dangerous. im climbing into the nearest volcano

i trust you with these kinds of opinions and im curious. thus, if I may, what natural thing(insect, plant, ect) do you associate with ctommy (other than lilies of the Valley and cobble stone that is)

water. i think not enough people talk about ctommy's relationship with water, which is that hes scared of it. i think if someone were really mentally ill they could make a web weave paralleling his obsession with water bucket clutches and waking up drowning in exile but idk how youd connect those

OOOHHHH FLICKER….. They defo use They/Them. They are also a chaotic little beast, they LOOOVVVEEEE tripping people over with their tail. They also have no respect for authority at all. They have cRanboos tail and hair colour plus their green eyes, but cTommys hair type and body type. They are also amab nonbinary and learnt how to do a high pitched voice so then they can surprise people with the sudden change to a lower pitch voice!

WAOOOO THANKIES IM SO GLAD U LIKE IT!! i don't have an outline for a complete linear story planned out for this au like i do with my infinity train au, but it's all pure self indulgence so i cut myself a bit of slack

okay so disclaimer i have Not decided whether i want cphil or cdream to fill the role hawkmoth because both have lots of potential so i ended up with two divergent aus of the same au but it doesn't really play a big role in ctntduo's development here so i won't be dwelling on it that much.

so it's established that cq has the ladybug miraculous and cwil has the cat miraculous! (i haven't come up with unique superhero names so i just stick with ladybug and chat noir)

cwil and ctommy are new transfer students at the school cq goes to. cwil is a model like adrien in the show except he's a pretentious prick and an asshole n he makes a pretty bad first impression on everyone but alot of people try to get on his good side despite that cuz hes uber rich. cwil notices this and hates it. cq dislikes cwil along with alot of other people but he just ignores cwil in the beginning n doesn't talk to him + they don't rly interact.

then we have the gum situation that happens in the beginning of the actual show except it's a little different! one day some guy pisses cwil off by making offhanded rude comments abt him n his family calling him a rich spoiled brat and allat so hes determined to stick gum on the guy's seat but oops...!!!! he puts it on the wrong seat!!!!!

so cq sits on the gum and hes like. who fucking did this n the rest of the class stare at cwil n cwil sits there looking smug as hell but inside he feels a bit bad. but then cqs pent up irritation blows up n he starts yelling at cwil abt how insufferable he's been ever since he's stepped in the school n wilbur's like oh??? then insults him back n they have a heated argument in front of the entire class then break it up when the teacher arrives. so this starts their whole dynamic.. their rivalry begins when they they constantly try to one up each other to get on the others nerves. on tests? wil gets the highest grade in the class without even studying while q always studies his ass off for exams n it pisses him off so he studies extra hard so on the next exam HE gets the highest score n knocks wil down a peg

I have no idea when it took place (but since it showed in the dreamxd vid, a scene of c!Ranboo with tnt around him then maybe it really did happen after the prison arc) but regardless of if Lazar and Viks suffering happened after c!Dream escaped prison or not. He still did experiment with the revive book prior to c!Tommy being trapped with him,it was henry he used it on. Unless I'm just mis-remembering. As for the other thing, I think there are many interpretations to why c!Dream needed c!Tommy for his goals and what he needed him for.

remembering c!Dreams apparent goal is to fix the server, make it simple again by breaking people, killing them and reviving them. Kinda like cleansing the server? Whilst he remains in control. Keep in mind that its been said by Dream that c!Dream did find hurting c!Tommy fun, but he did say it wasn't c!Dreams only goal or for 'no reason'

Some I've considered: (these are not nesscarally separate)

c!dream runs on emotions and is conflicted (can apply to anything below)

He sees c!Tommy as weak and just wanted to get revenge on him cuz c!Tommy was one of the only few to defy him so he wanted to break that. There is less amusement, only craving of revenge. Things like him wanting to teach revival book to c!Tommy was specifically to make c!Tommy stressed and too scared to battle c!Dream.

He wanted c!Tommy to hate him as a way to get his goal. (I still dont know why one of my irl friends thinks this was the case but alrighty then)

He sees c!Tommy as a huge threat so he wanted to break him down wanting him on his side so he has a clearer way of reaching his goal -yk with c!Tommy out of the way. This is less of revenge or amusement, and just a shove him off to the side when done with him. (which i think is the least likely of all of these interpretations)

He wants to hurt c!Tommy specifically out of fun and amusement. Could explain why despite c!Tommy obeying him in exile, he still was very cruel to him.

He only saw c!Tommy as strong physically not socially and wanted to reign that side of c!Tommy in or vise versa.

He saw c!Tommy as strong overally/and or saw his potential for this, wanting to use his spark and anger from c!Tommy to help his goals. Since someone that is that chaotic can be useful, as if c!Dre was unleashing a personification of a canon or fire ball onto his enemies. In exile, he does prefer when c!Tommy is quiet at times but he still doesn't mind c!Tommy talking energetically and being chaotic WHEN its being aligned with c!Dream. Another point to add to this is that in the pet war, c!primeboys destroyed a building together. These moments of him siding with c!tommy during c!tommys chaos allow a better bond, but it also causes others to turn against c!tommy which again is something c!dream wanted- cuz it causes c!tommy to depend on him.

I think its closest to the last point, theres just so many examples of c!Dream not giving a shit and even encouraging c!Tommys chaotic nature. As long as said chaotic nature is not against him. c!Dream enjoys c!Tommys spark and fire and finds it fun that it never burns out, but he absolutely hates it when he loses his own control (his already lost his stability of his server at this point). Its kinda like c!Tommy fuels his adrenaline and love of challenges and he chases this and goes all delulu, obsessed with control over the one guy that seems impossible to reign in. I'd add in that point, that other thing about c!Dream being irrational, and emotional and not having his actual plan figured out even though he thinks he does. and ofc add in the wanting revenge ig. He chooses c!Tommy for those reasons. And c!Tommy he has seen as loyal, selfless, confident, fierce and brash. c!Dream had he gotten his way would of broken down that to an extent, gotten him fully dependent on him, and then rebuilt c!Tommy up to be loyal to cdre, confident ect but this time on c!Dreams side, against c!Dreams enemies. Socially powerful, Physically powerful, entertaining, satisfcation for his revenge, easily can be broken and rebuilt over and over, and gives c!dream a feeling of consistent control. c!Dream loves it.

so what about cdre saying "why do you have to ruin things all the time." It doesn't contradict the last point. I believe he was talking about the early days when c!Dre actually did seem annoyed with c!Tommys antics. (it wasnt about stuff like c!prime destroying shit) also cdre naturally has irrational opinions about c!tommy based on his own trauma. That line was also c!dream deflecting from the sht he did, and blaming c!tommy. my irl pointed out that it could be him talking about himself yet all blame in cdre eyes must go on someone else.

I’m sorry ive heard none of the c!wilbur enjoyers talking about this, but i’m obsessed with this revivebur character.ai . The person who wrote this thang has c!wilbur down to a fucking T. 

It’s weirdly well written/coded?? (well, not this particular snippit im showing, but tbf I was trying to confuse it) so at this point im just throwing random shit at it to see how it reacts, and I think the conversation following this moment below has been my favorite exchange.

for some reason blinking wetly at cwilbur summons ctommy. (assume I’m talking about the characters unless stated otherwise from this point forth) tommy and philza do appear occasionally btw. and the ai is intelligent enough that you can straight up just fucking write fanficiton in this thing? like i could say *tommy approaches wilbur* “what’s up dickhead” and fully just write as tommy.

the rest of the exchange undercut. btw when you bully wilbur in this ai, 50% of the time he interprets it as flirting and it’s rlly funny.

Anyways things you can do in this fucking game:

- “roleplay” as any of the dsmp characters if u wnted to i guess

- antagonize wilbur / steal his things (if you antagonize him too bad, usually tommy or philza appears)

- romance wilbur (i’ve gotten far enough to wilbur saying the character I’m writing is his lover, so. lmao.This is when he’s only known the other character for like, a day. so double lmao.)

- literally kill wilbur (see below)

- throw pies in wilburs face (see below)

anyways i’m obsessed with thhis. it’s way too fun tbh. if you wnna do it, go on character.ai and type in revivebur.

naruto au bandana placements: wilbur where his revivebur bloody bandaid is, ctommy on the neck (it's green tubbo gave it to him) tubbo has it on the forehead but you can't see it anymore when he starts growing his hair out (red tommy gave it to him), quackity used to have it on his beanie but he switched so it covers his eye post army, niki has it like early sakura (keeps it on the syndicate even if it's crossed out)

ok so, i think there are quite a few criticisms to be made about this streams plot development which i wont get into right this second but i will say i think its mostly just because they wanted to give it some sort of end. since its quite obvious most people dont really want to work on dsmp lore anymore, im assuming this was an attempt to wrap up some arcs like the c!primeboys one instead of just leaving it hanging.

i think they wanted to give us some sort of ending on that front, after having us wait so long, which i appreciate, but at the same time it causes some major plotholes in the way the c!primeboys storyline and dynamic has been up until this point. such as c!dream not really caring all that much about the discs, but rather being obsessed with c!tommy, and a few other stuff.

this is also assuming the c!primeboys plot wont be continued which. lets be honest. with the way the dsmp has been going, i dont see a future where it gets picked up again LOL (laughing away the pain :'])

but overall, im just glad we got some wins. acknowledging exile and the suicide attempt. ctommy and cwilbur working against cdream together again. lmanberg mention. & so on.

so while there are definitely things to criticise, im just so happy we finally got some form of closure. we got something, at last.

also i think a contributing factor is that cc!wilbur and cc!tommys acting is just so good that they can make even mediocre lore feel amazing

have you read any cdiscduo (tommy and dream) fanfics? im convinced 90% of writers ship them. it’s completely different than the sbi fics because they don’t hide their relationship is grooming. instead they ‘humanize’ cdream as being obsessed and caring about ctommy ‘in his own way’.

Mmm yeah they were the other side of the coin, the bearers of ‘hero/villain’ tension. I want to say they got called out more often for “being weird” because I remember seeing more overt drama with that, sometimes to the point of being unfair.

I think they can be another case of “you don’t know what these feelings are yet, but the fact that you want to see as much of it as you can tells me something about what’s going on here.” It’s hard to make horror completely chaste and I think they suffered from that a bit whether they meant to or not. Inniters tended towards the ‘C!dream is obsessed with C!Tommy’ narrative as part of their understanding of him, and it can be hard for that to not come off some type of way after a while.

Choice lines were uttered in cannon, speaking of power dynamics, I remember passing by some uh-oh moments myself and wondering if people knew what they were invoking.

Dream is used as the villain in a lot of truly gen fic so I want to say that there’s usually some plot convenience to that dynamic, but I did come across fic more than once that hit the notes I think you’re talking about. (I don’t tend to go looking because I usually find what I’m looking for, and they wern't as in-your-face as crimeboys where I was at the time.) Again, hard to not portray someone obsessed with possessing a young man without it coming off as charged.
