Deep Dive at the Seaside with Grandmother Pa'Ris'Ha
Imagine spending five nights on a quiet North Carolina beach in the deep of summer, sitting around a camp fire with a group of spiritual seekers who are on “silence” (not talking). They're quite well occupied contemplating a single passage from an ancient text. Here, Grandmother Pa’Ris’Ha is our Elder and coach as we take a deep dive into discovering who and what we truly are.  Or, to say it another way, to “know thyself” is our quest’s goal.  Quite an adventure!
Let me share the story as best as I can recall.  Imagine, perhaps, that you are there too, in the dark, feeding the fire. Staring into the flames. Sheltered on one side by grand dunes and soothed by the sound of the surf only yards away. We won't go back to our tents until dawn. We will spend the whole night in contemplation.
In the mornings, after a welcomed sleep of several hours, we rise to Grandmother's call to come to sit at a picnic table with our notebooks and share our thoughts and experiences. She will share her oh-so-loving Wisdom with us.  Then, maybe you’ll share a small meal she makes for you in her RV kitchen?
As the sun sinks, you and the seven others prepare for another night of contemplation by the fire, gathering firewood, notebooks, and Medicine blankets. You climb over the dune.  No talking. Seeking—What?  Understanding? An Awakening? Illumination? Peace of Mind? Empowerment? All of these and more, indeed! You look at a piece of paper Grandmother has given you and read quietly by the fire’s light:
I AM, that is the natural life-giving force of all things, FE/MALE of all the elements, the initial progeny of Worlds. Chief of the Divine Powers, Queen of All that are in Hell, the Principal of them that Dwell in Heaven, manifested alone and under one form of all the powers of the Principals.
At my will, the planets of the sky, the wholesome winds of the sea, and the lamentable silences of hell be disposed; my name, my Divinity is adorned throughout the Worlds, in diverse manners, in variable customs and by the many names.
Quite a mouthful! Quite a claim! Who is this mysterious being?
The font alone gives the quote an arcane air; as if it comes from some forgotten ancient document or tale of Gods and Goddesses? You have lots of questions!
Who is this bold speaker who appears to claim full Power over the universe itself? Where did Grandmother Pa’Ris’Ha get this quotation? Or did she write it herself? Why had she chosen this particular quote for us to ponder?
Your forehead figuratively furrows in your brain and your eyes roll.  It’s a Mystery! A puzzle. The air is cooling down. We feed the fire and it rises up hot and delicious.
Grandmother has instructed us to take walks on the beach whenever we are moved to do so. She has set some boundaries so we do not wander too far.  But we are free to wade into the waves and stare out to sea, study the surf and the stars; walk back and forth from surf to fire as we please. We do not speak to strangers or each other.
We seekers know each other reasonably well.  We have traveled to other shores with Grandmother and are building a place called Friendship Village in Ohio, a ceremonial home, retreat and conference center. We are family.
Sitting by the fire comes naturally to us so there is a silent camaraderie that blesses our shared excursion into inner space.
The message, the text, is obviously about Divinity. This is not an unfamiliar theme to any of us.
You start studying each and every word, starting with “I Am that is…!
You, personally know from your own previous studies how very significant the ability to say “I AM” is. It demonstrates the power of the human consciousness to self-reflect and to KNOW THYSELF as an individual, self-contained living entity that has a memory and ability to imagine the future. A self-conscious human being can recognize their own existence over the passage of Time.  This is the tell-tale sign of being a human. We each are fundamentally “I Ams”.
In the Ten Commandments story in the Bible, Moses asks God who he should say spoke to him on the mountain and God says “I AM that I AM!” God gives no real name!
So, this ability to say, “I AM” is also a fundamental characteristic of Divinity as well as of Humanity! Self-consciousness, self-reflection and awareness of existence over Time are things that humanity has in common with the Gods and Goddesses of ancient worlds and cosmic realms.
So, the quotation you are studying begins with “I AM that Is” … and goes from there. What a list! What a proclamation! This Entity that speaks is…
1—The natural life-giving force of all things
2- FE/MALE of all the elements
3- The initial progeny of Worlds.
4-Chief of the Divine Powers.
5-Queen of All that are in Hell.
6- The Principal of them that Dwell in Heaven, manifested alone and under one form of all the powers of the Principals.
And she sums it up by saying “At My will, the planets of the sky, the wholesome winds of the sea, and the lamentable silences of hell are disposed.
My name, my Divinity is adorned throughout the Worlds, in diverse manners, in variable customs and by the many names.
What a proclamation!  Worth repeating. Worth contemplating. This is likely a Goddess speaking and she seems to believe she is the Creator/Source and perhaps the Destroyer as well. In any case, this is Divinity speaking.
Now…a still small voice inside you suggests, since the Speaker goddess is an ‘I AM’ and you are also an “I AM” being, then you are Divine too!  HHmmmmm. No small thought. Of course, because you are a Seeker, you are familiar with this assertion.  That each human is, in essence, an off-shoot of “the Divine One” that is in all Things.
But though you can grasp the notion that you are Divine intellectually, it is difficult to feel divine, or to accept that you have creative powers equal to a God’s. But at least you are on the right track.
As the nights pass, you consider each word and phrase of the quotation. For instance, you ponder what “FE/MALE” could actually mean. It is oddly written.  The speaker says she is a Queen.  You contemplate “FE” by itself and it occurs to you that that is the chemical symbol for Iron. And iron makes our blood red. Red is often associated with the primal force of life. So “FE, you can conclude, is a good prefix that expresses the life-giving character of a Mother goddess.
You find that you take particular pleasure in the phrase, “the many names.”  Go figure! Much later you learn of more of her names.
The weather has been beautiful until one night, Yunsai comes in.  You were prepared somewhat as Grandmother Pa’Ris’Ha’ had said something earlier about a new weather front coming in.  And sure enough, that night the wind picks up…
Out on the beach, looking far North you see approaching a huge, dark cloud bank roiling like you have never seen before! The wind picks up slowly at first, then more fiercely. Thrilling it is!

When it is almost directly above, you’re awe-struck! The cloud bank is so very sharp and clearly defined as it towers directly above you. Then the clouds burst and the rain pours. You are soaked by rain, refreshed and cleaned!  You feel so so close to the natural world.
Yunsai, the North Wind, the powerful Gatekeeper of our Mother Lodge, the White Buffalo, has visited us and blessed us.  We are electrified and re-generated!
Eventually, when we return to our tents, we find them flattened. But we are troopers and have a good laugh over it all.
Eventually the days on the beach come to an end.  We sit with Grandmother Pa’Ris’Ha in circle and share our thoughts. One person named Minnie speaks up and tells us in a hesitant tone that she had seen a younger version of Grandmother on the beach!  We looking questioningly at each other. Grandmother nods and says “Yes.” She had visited each of us as a younger form of herself! But Minnie was the only one that saw her in that form!  We look at each other and are sad that we had not seen her!
It was a wonderful week but of course, it comes to an end. You truly had arrived at many conclusions!
Several years after this North Carolina vision quest (another name for what we were doing), I found a paragraph in a book by Joseph Campbell titled The Power of Myth in a chapter titled The Gift of the Goddess. He cites a source for the origin of the quotation that we had contemplated! I was so excited!!!
It comes from a second century A.D. novel (one of the first novels ever written) called The Golden Ass by Apuleius.  The speaker is the Goddess Isis.  The original is Latin so the translation is different from what I had become familiar with. But there is no mistaking it.  Isis speaks:
….I am Nature, the universal Mother, mistress of all the elements, primordial child of time, sovereign of all things spiritual, queen of the dead, queen also of the immortals, the single manifestation of all gods and goddesses that are.  My nod governs the shining heights of Heaven, the wholesome sea-breezes, the lamentable silences of the world below.  Though I am worshipped in many aspects, known by countless names, and propitiated with all manner of different rites, yet the whole round earth venerates me.  The primeval Phrygians call me Pessinuntica, Mother of the gods; the Athenians, sprung from their own soil, call me Cecropian Artemis; for the islanders of Cyprus, I am Paphian Aphrodite; for the archers of Crete, I am Dictynna; for the trilingual Sicilians, Stygian Proserpine; and for the Elusinians, their ancient Mother of the Corn.
Some know me as Juno, some as Bellona of the Battles; others as Hecate, others again as Rhamnubia, but both races of Aethiopians, whose lands the morning sun first shines upon, and the Egyptians who excel in ancient learning and worship me with ceremonies proper to my godhead, call me by my true name, namely Queen Isis.
Ah!  So many names!  Yet paradoxically, we are ALL the “I Am” —the One that is in All Things! And each of us have our feminine/Mothering aspects as well as the powers and characteristics often associated with the masculine.
As I sit now in my home, re-reading and re-living by sharing this story, I am eternally grateful to the One called Grandmother Pa’Ris’Ha who once took me for a Deep Dive into an ocean of Contemplation, so that I might better Know Myself.  As the Cherokee say:  "Wado! I appreciate"!

tumblr etiquette 101
a list that is nowhere near exhaustive, from yours truly.
First off, welcome! Whether you’re a twitter veteran looking for anything but whatever twitter is, or a new user just done signing up, glad to see you in our ranks beloveds! Welcome home. Refer to this quick tour to make sure your fandom experience (or tumblr experience in general) is a positive one!
Disclaimer: I know it’s long, but please try to read or skim through til the end if you’re new here! This is by no means meant to be a rule book (for the most part lol), only a guide to help you get settled easier!
1) Your blog
This is where people will see and interact with you, so put some effort into it!
Try to choose a name (url) that’s simple. You can see it as your brand, it’s how people will perceive you and remember you. If you’d like to interact with other users here (and not use the site just for the content) it’s better to have something short and sweet, preferably without spaces. (Of course, these are only suggestions.) Rest assured, you can change it literally any time you want.
Have a theme. Utilize the tool that lets you edit your blog’s color or the font of your bio! You can make it match your profile picture, or your blog if it has a theme of its own. Make it feel homey :]
Fill in your bio. People will be checking out your profile probably more often than you think. Don’t leave it empty! Put in any information you’re comfortable with sharing and isn’t too personal (like your age if you’re a minor, or other TMI that can be found on other people’s carrds). It’s always better to add a name/nickname people can use to refer to you by, but feel free to use your blog description to shitpost still.
You can have an intro post. More often than not, you’ll see a blog have a pinned post, a post permanently appearing at the top of a blog until you pin another post or unpin it. You can make one of those, if you’d like to introduce yourself in more length, link any other socials or a carrd, and show others visiting your blog how you tag things so it’ll be easy for them to navigate. Not an obligation.
Keep your anonymity and your safety. It should go without saying, but there’s no harm in repeating it just in case. Your comfort, privacy and safety has the utmost importance. Don’t share any information you don’t want to. Don’t share your age if you’re a minor, or any other incredibly personal info. I’d encourage you to go by a nickname that’s not your real name, (blog name, your brand, remember?) since there’s safety in anonymity, and that’s lowkey one of the big deals of tumblr, but that’s up to you still.
Choose what you want to be visible. Your liked posts and who you follow are all things you can set to keep to yourself and hide from the publics eye, how handy! You should go through all the setting while you’re at it, set it to your comfort.
Side blogs are a thing. You can have multiple blogs that you can use for different things (see: different fandoms, art blog, etc) to keep them organized or away from your followers. Just remember that the replies and off-anon asks you send will be from your main blog, as well as where you follow other blogs from.
2) Interacting with others
You’ve set up your account, now comes the fun part!
Follow to your heart’s desire. If you care about others seeing who you follow, fear not! In tumblr, usually only two types of blogs keep their following visible to others: newbies, and big blogs using it to point people on other good blogs’ direction. Just turn it off, and go ham following people.
Customize your dashboard. Gonna mention just two things here: this is another reason why it’s really important that you follow blogs without sparing, your dash will collect dust otherwise; and you should turn off “best stuff first” in your dashboard settings, to have a better community here and all.
Follow tags. You can set it in your settings that posts with your followed tags appear on your dashboard.
You can check the og post for edits and context. When you see a reblogged post you don’t understand the context of (or don’t recognize the character in case of fanarts), click on the profile so it will take you to the original post. From there you can check the original poster’s tags to get the context, or see if there have been any edits made to the post, since when you edit a post it doesn’t update any past reblogs.
Send people asks... This is how you make mutuals, people! Do it off-anon if you’d like them to know your blog, or anon if you’d rather not! (You can still end your messages with a signature to show you’re the same person, -[name] is one example.) Send them nice messages, ask their opinion on something, discuss things, or just straight up shitpost lol. Go wild. The sky’s your limit and it’s definitely more than 280 characters.
...and let them ask you! You can set your preference in the settings, do it on desktop tumblr to access more settings tho! What you can customize on mobile is limited (like letting people ask you things anonymously, that’s only on desktop settings). In my personal opinion, it’s always better to tag their username (or a nickname you give them, if they’re a friend) on that post, since you wouldn’t want your interactions with your friends to get buried in your blog forever.
Comment on posts. If you have something to say but don’t want the post to appear on your blog you can add a comment. The owner of the post will get a notif for it, but for anyone else you need to tag them.
For the love of god, reblog. People will only see your liked posts if you have it visible to public and they specifically go on your blog to look at them. You like something? You reblog. It’s already hard for posts to circulate properly, if you don’t reblog them literally no one will see them. If not for anything do it for the artists. Just hold and drag on mobile to fast rb.
3) Your Posts
Finally here! Don’t be a lurker, post and engage!
Make use of “read more”. If your post is long, add it. That’s what you clicked on earlier to expand this post. On desktop leave an empty line and you’ll see three dots appear, and on mobile type :readmore: on that empty line.
Draft a post to come back to it later. Pretty self explanatory.
Queue your post. Whether it’s your own post or you’re reblogging, make use of the queue feature to a) not spam reblog and fill up the dashboard of people following you and b) keep your blog active while you’re gone. Mess around in the settings, it’s fairly easy to set up.
Schedule your post. Same as queueing, the only difference is you get to choose the exact time your post will go up. Handy if you want to schedule a post for certain dates like april fools, or 5 years in the future for some reason.
Format your texts. You can do all kinds of fancy stuff here (that’s a link, try pressing on it). Twitter doesn’t have this, make use of it. Changes depending on whether you’re on mobile or desktop. (Desktop has less features.)
Check your stats. If you’re trying to understand the algorithm better or want to look at some pretty graphs you can get your data on that on desktop tumblr.
@ people in comments. You’ll get all the notifs when people comment on your posts but they won’t see your reply unless you tag them in your message.
4) Tags, and tagging a post
This is where my earlier statement “this isn’t a rule book” stops being applicable. It’s not a war crime to go against these, I won’t come chasing you (don’t take my word for this) but you’ll work up a bad rep. Just saying lol.
Do NOT crosstag posts. It’s really tempting to add unrelated tags to increase your posts’ interaction, I know, but that’s not what tumblr is about. Don’t be a dick and make other communities’ experience worse for them.
Always tag your posts with “crit/critical/discourse/etc” if it calls for it. There’s no exceptions to it. This is the reason you see people migrating to tumblr. Let people enjoy things.
Don’t main tag a critical/negative post. If your crit post is about “Thing”, you add the “Thing critical” tag, but not the “Thing” tag. People block crit tags if they don’t want to see it, don’t shove it in their faces by main tagging it.
If you don’t want to see something, just block it. Another reason why people are able to survive on tumblr. You don’t start discourse, you don’t make call-outs, you block. You can find something for every community you can think of if you go looking for it. The worst of the worst probably won’t ever appear on your dash, but if you’re worried or feel the need for it, you know where the block button is.
Feel free to shitpost or ramble. More often than not you’ll see people rb a post with a comment, and their elaboration will be in the tags. The tags are only visible on your profile and the notifications of the owner of the og blog. Just a thing people do.
Reblog artists’ posts with nice comments in the tags! Commenting on a drawing is usually done through the tags (Not an obligation, again, just a thing people do. Feel free to add your comment on the rb itself if you’d want other people to see it tho!) and leave nice messages for the artists! It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
If you have more than a single follower, always use the common tw warning tags. You don’t need to tw everything, but tw’ing some common things is the bare minimum human decency. Keep it safe for others.
Tag a post “long post” if it’s really long. Pretty self explanatory. Don’t make people scroll through all that please lol.
You can use them to organize your blog. This is more of a pro tip, if you’d like to not miss a post in your blog, cause they will start pilin’ up soon enough.
#Liveblogging is pretty fun. If you’d like to talk to people during streams, don’t forget to add the relevant tags still! Again, you won’t show up on people’s dash otherwise.
Whew! That got out of hand. Hopefully I didn’t bore you too much. Check out blogs like @heritageposts and @hellsite-hall-of-fame to honor our past o7. @mcytblr-hall-of-fame too maybe :eyes:. Anyways, don’t forget the most important rule of them all:
Enjoy your stay! You’re meant to have fun on here while also making friends (if that’s your thing). Just be kind and respectful of others, you’ll get the hang of the rest! <3

Tumblr media
Thank you so much! I spent so long trying to make a mobile theme that I liked (ಥ﹏ಥ)
I took heavy inspo from the game GTFO, more specifically, the terminals that you can use while trying to sneak by creepy creatures that will fuck you the hell up if you wake them...
I don't know if you were actually looking for a tutorial or not, but I'm giving one to you anyways lol...
There will be many sections to this post, with some links sprinkled in, and it's a bit long, so it'll be under the cut...
Tumblr media
-#: TEXT
While simple, this is easily the place where you can make or break your theme. While tumblr does supply alternative fonts (i use chat for my theme), others are not as nice (lucille im looking at you bitch)...
I have two different places I go to for my fonts. I have a custom keyboard on my phone (it has a subscription option for more fonts that I refuse to pay for), and a website that I copy and paste from. The website has more options, and it's completely free, so I mostly use that...
𝖙𝖊𝖘𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖌 — 𝕥𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 — 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 — 𝓉𝑒𝓈𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔 — 𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜
Keep in mind that using an abundance of fancy text could make it hard for people to read whatever's written in that font. That, and i find using only the copy pasted text to be quite ugly. I've seen someone use the second testing font entirely for their pinned post, and it is not a good look...
The same can be said for making all of your text small, though I personally haven't had issue with small text unless I'm reading fanfiction in the dark...
Text colour is also a nice addition to pull together a theme. While there are some bright colours that you can use from what's provided, it's not much...
This text post goes through the steps of adding custom gradients or colours to text, if that's something you're interested in...
Also, please, for the love of god, put a fucking read more on any text post that's longer than one(!!!) mobile screen in length. The amount of fics that are good that I refuse to reblog because you have to spend 5 minutes just to scroll past it is infuriating and saddening, we don't need a text version of "do you love the colour of the sky?" Okay? Okay...
Tumblr media
-#: DECALS?
It's the little things that tie everything together, so I suggest looking here or here or here for some ideas...
To make things easier for you, I would suggest copy pasting anything you like into a google doc, so that you have everything in one place for future use...
Tumblr media
-#: DIVIDERS
There are many different ways you can spice up a text post, and dividers are one of them! animated or still work just as good, you just have to find what works with your aesthetic...
There are many places you can find dividers gifs or static, let me know if you would like me to compile a set for you from what I have saved...
Tumblr media
-#: PICTURES
Pinterest is my go to for aesthetic pictures. There's a huge variety, and making a pintrest board for your theme will help to curate more options if you wanna change something up...
You can mix multiple pictures together, up to three side by side...
Or you can make it look like there's only one picture by putting white/black/ transparent photos on either side, depending on your theme...
Keep in mind that a post is limited to 10 pictures, so you might have to break out a photo editor if you planned on using a lot of media...
Tumblr media
-#: OTHERS
A good place to start for making your theme is to look at the anime fanfic community here on tumblr. The way these people make pinned posts look like works of art...
Some of my favourites:...
#. @bykii #. @eijirhoe
#. @aitarose #. @21-06-1996
#. @tteokdoroki #. @kurosukii
!NOTE! Many of these blogs are 18+ please follow their dni before interacting with any of their content...
Some shameless self promo:...
#. @lxvlxck #. @pythonees
Tumblr media
In the end, all that matters is what you like. I tried to keep things vague enough, though I don't know how well I did as this is my first tutorial...
Hope this was helpful! Enjoy making your aesthetic pinned post, or a cute template for your fan-fiction!...

To Himling by @flow-it-show-it
Fili/Kili, various ratings (E in places), warnings for: permanent injury, PTSD.
Hands down the most under-appreciated (effort vs. response) story in the fandom at the moment, IMHO.
Get ready for a journey into the world of fantastically elaborate dwarven culture and custom, wonderfully fleshed out characters and complex plots, full of intrigue and personal agendas. It’s as if the films were only a glimpse and this is the rest of the book. And then, in the heart of it all, Fili and Kili, struggling to stay true to themselves, each other and the pressures of who they were born to be. AKA, a realistic take on what might have been if Thorin died at BOFA, but Fili and Kili survived.
Don’t get discouraged by the odd formatting (italics are dialogue, each part is sort of a chapter) - each installment will make you feel like you’re coming back home.
Tumblr media
A Genie’s Tale by @patchworkideas
Fili/Kili, rating: various, tame really, warnings for: hints of past abuse and (not) permanent injury.
Angsty enough to go all in with your feels, but soft enough to feel like you won your bet. Fili is a genie who’s lead less than a happy life. Kili has a way with words and just wants to help. There’s also a picturesque house on a hill involved.
Dwarves of Erebor + a magical lamp initially were two aesthetics that didn’t necessarily mesh together for me, but having read it, they totally do. I love the gradual development of their story, its ups and downs, and the goddamn, properly developed happy ending. Damn right, with a sunset.
Tumblr media
Amor Sine Peccatorum Remissione by @linane-art
Fili/Kili, rating: explicit, religious themes.
This one is a bit more interesting challenging to read, because the setting and the circumstances set a certain prism over the characters.
It’s a Borgia AU with Fili as a cardinal (which oddly suits him, I think, with his more contemplative nature and ability to wield power) and Kili as the rebellious second son. They fight, they survive, they love as best as they can. They never apologise, but they’re also far from heartless. They’re complicated and flawed, but so, so strong, and trying to trace the exact line between the good and evil in them is ever so tantalising.
I think this one can be read even if you’re not familiar with The Borgias (2011) show, provided you have some basic knowledge about Renaissance Italy and papal elections for context.
Tumblr media
Grand Pas De Deux and the Letters by @flow-it-show-it
Fili/Kili, rating: M
I wouldn’t say that a period Russian ballet setting based in St Petersburg was particularly my jam before I met this story. Clearly, I was wrong.
It seduced me with a very satisfying happily ever after, the sort you read about in fairy tales. Because you begin at the end and then watch two sweetest cinnamon rolls blush and blunder their way around each other with angst and feels aplenty. It’s a Cinderella story; if Cinderella had a spectacular ass and Prince Charming was not above using puppy eyes to get what he wants.
Please be sure to follow the Letters tumblr too: a lot of the Hobbit content is recycled these days, but the letters are new and exciting on your dash! They are totally worth the time spent deciphering the fancy, old-fashioned fonts.
Tumblr media
The Boy King by @marigoldvance
Fili/Kili, rating: teen, warnings for violence
This is a story with oompf. It starts like a punch to the gut and continues with a heart on your shoulder because OMG, protect the babies!! Fili is a prince who’s lost everything, but instead found a small group of people who quickly became his people. Kili is his people in particular, so much so in fact, that his heart wants its Fili and it might even learn patience to get him. Then there’s a prophecy and drama and a certain sword…
This one we read for the plot. And beautifully balanced, equally strong characters (that happens to be my kink btw.) and choices that aren’t easy. We read it and we hope for more because god damn it, this verse has so much more to give and we wants it!

Semper Fidelis by @dragonquill
Fili/Kili, rating M, warnings for slavery
You may remember a little ficlet once upon a time called And They Had This. You’d remember it because it fucked with your heart real good, dripping in angst and feels that had you drowning. Then there was a thing called Saturnalia (part 1, part 2), which got tantalisingly close to gentle, poetic feels-fucking, which we all just know we want to read.
‘Semper Fidelis’ is that story. This time told start to finish in the right order, so you can get fully invested in the characters and have your heart broken and fixed anew, this time in full technicolour glory. (Feels are totally also a major kink for me). It’s hands down my guilty pleasure: set in Ancient Rome, Fili is a slave, Kili is technically his master. It forces a fascinating dynamic, applies constraints and consequences they struggle with. And yet they both stay totally in character and THAT’S the true mastery - to take the Fili and Kili we know and love, plonk them in some very harsh circumstances and see what they’ll do.
Tumblr media
Isca Silurum by @linane-art
Fili/Kili, rating: teen
Continuing on with the Ancient Roman theme, but we’ve now moved to the Empire’s wildest frontiers. ‘Isca’ is set in the 2nd century AD, in what today is Wales, where a Roman legion under Kili’s command is sent to conquer an annoyingly unconquerable tribe of Silures, led by an annoyingly hot and cunning Fili.
Except Kili is not that wild about the whole conquering part. Fili is not entirely adverse to the conquering, so long as he gets to bang the hottie in charge and his people get a decent enough deal out of it. Light-hearted in places, but not crack-y, we get to watch as the power of their personalities and what they ultimately want re-writes the history.
‘Isca’ contains one of my favourite Filis of all time. To be fair, he mostly writes himself. He would, really. He just would.
Tumblr media
Gone was the Ninth by @i-am-still-bb
Fili/Kili, rating: M, warnings for: violence
Nope, still not done with the Romans. Based on the same prompt as the story above and set in frontier Britannia, only this time in reverse, i.e. with Fili as the Roman and Kili as the ‘barbarian’. This take is less humour and more drama, with authentic Latin and impossible choices aplenty. And in the midst of it all we have a story of one perfect, impossible love, between two stubborn-as-hell idiots who watch the train wreck arrive and decide to out-live it.
I love how uncompromising this story is, how it doesn’t take any short cuts and doesn’t apologise for the heart break. A touch of mystical enhances the atmosphere of this story, transporting you directly into what it might have been like for the people who lived, fought and loved back in those days.
Tumblr media
A Sunless Sky by @z-aliada
Fili/Kili, rating: teen
I have a thing for antiquity AUs, can you tell?
Kili is a pharaoh’s heir, Fili is… mysterious. But he knows things, things that Kili would like to know as well and will he be visiting again? Starting from a position where Fili is kind of idolised, it’s fascinating to watch their relationship develop, until Kili is a confident little shit and Fili cannot maintain his aura of mystical aloofness for the feels that ruin it.
I love this story for how intriguing it is and because you never quite know what’s what exactly, but you enjoy watching the little idiots anyway. Add to it the setting, combined with some serious research into Egyptian mythology and you get something truly unforgettable!
Tumblr media
Apprentice by @marigoldvance
Fili/Kili, rating: gen
Three words: Hot. Prof. Fili. I fall for it every time (see: Lune) and combined with potentially hella powerful but plagued by doubts Kili, this was always going to be a story I was going to enjoy.
Fili is a Soothsayer (his words have magic in them) Kili is… well, he’s trying to decide what he wants to be, preferably something relatively harmless, and the two of them are very clearly drawn to each other. It’s one of those stories that you read and you can clearly see the possibilities, you can see the potential for so. much. more, like you’re at the start of a journey and you can’t wait to see where it will take you. I hear rumours that it will be continued, so here’s hoping!

[Defunct]Multiverse Sans / sexy_sans v1.3 ukagaka ghost (Updated 2/2/2018)
(Please go to the new Download Page for Multiverse Sans v1.3+!)
Attention: This project is renamed Multiverse Sans to better reflect the content and goals of this project. Same development and all that, but better name. Thank you all for your ongoing support, I did not expect to have artists plural lined up to help me create AU shells at this point in development.
Tumblr media
Hello Welcome to Sexy_Sans Ghost v1.2.6+ (download the ghost nar) (download the ballon nar)
As a note, this is entirely SFW and you will have to go very out of your way to see humor dirtier than what Disney pulls off. Sexy_Sans is intended as a questionably flirtatious (but mostly just goofy) version of Sans who chills and gives u chills on your desktop.
Tumblr media
This Sans ghost has properly pink slippers and is sans shirt, because I hear shirtless dudes are sexy and this is sexy_sans. He also has an optional Sansta hat clothing piece. Merry Gyftmas everybody.
Tumblr media
This ghost's scripting is started from the Geno Sans by @huskalis (which is in turn based on @gr33nbeen ‘s Sans), but some dialogue and coding are swiped from other Sanses. My original additions include two more hitboxes Ribs and Bonezone due to obscenely popular demand.
Tumblr media
Have fun tickling him with rib-rubs and double-clicks, and experience the depraved thrills of failing to reach the mystical unicorn bonezone. There's a fair bit of semi-randomized original dialogue options from these and messages in general so it should stay fresh.
Tumblr media
But he is very ticklish and giggly. ;) And he loves pets.
Tumblr media
My original menu contribution is the BudTime Generator, wherein Sans will issue you a threat of the hey there buddy chum pal friend variety. There are 200+ possible variants on “crummy juncture” aka ”bad time” alone.
Tumblr media
Development is going fast. Check my DEV PLAN page for a peek at future updates! There is a TON of content planned, and thus far I’ve been focused on learning and setting up a flexible architecture to allow things like AU!Sans shells/dialects in the future, so this is just the bare bones for now.
so pls enjoi dis smol silly skele boi.
This is a Windows-only program but Mac users can use it through WINE. I’m developing it on a mac myself, so it’s very possible!
Ghost Download/Installation:
Use either .nar or .zip files, doesn’t really matter. Either way you install by dragging them onto an existing ghost’s face.
.NAR Files
Download sexy_sans v1.2.64.nar
Download Sans & Paps Font Balloon NAR
.ZIP Files
Download sexy_sans_v1.2.64.zip  Download Sans & Paps Fonts Balloon.ZIP
Miss the infinite tickles? Download v1.2.4 here
bug note: If you have character loading issues after first boot try restarting SSP, he’ll probably be there next bootup.
MAKE SURE TO DOWNLOAD THE CUSTOM BALLOON!
And (optionally) install the included custom fonts.
Comic Sans UT, Determination Mono, Determination Sans, Papyrus UT
These are the actual fonts used in the Undertale game. If you don’t install them, you’ll still use system fonts Comic Sans and Papyrus anyway.
If you install the balloon first, he’ll automatically equip the right balloon on first bootup. The fonts are included in the balloon’s file under INSTALL THESE FONTS folder. This balloon was made for the Sans & Papyrus duo ghost but it also works well for solo Sans ghosts.
Tumblr media
Credits
(aka dear god Ukagaka credits are a friggin spiderweb of sources)
Sans himself belongs to Toby Fox’s @undertale obviously.
@zarla-s is behind PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING UKAGAKA. The core templates, tutorials, and much inspiration is from this talented individual. They created the black Undertale themed balloons that I modified to be proper fonts for Sans & Paps.
@gr33nbeen made the original sans ghost, which was based on @zarla-s ghost template. I edited him to have pink slippers and be shirtless.
My coding started from the Geno Sans ghost by @huskalis which was in turn based on @gr33nbeen Sans ghost. Geno Sans is from @loverofpiggies‘s AfterTale comics.
I swiped some dialogue from @characteroulette‘s Sans & Papyrus duo, which is the Sans of @gr33nbeen and the Papyrus of @cuddlyhawk. It’s @characteroulette‘s fault that sexy_sans exists because I loved these guys so much I had to make a balloon to give both of them their appropriate font, and then I decided to make my own lil ghostie after having so much fun digging in coding.
I think I covered all the credits but lemme know if I’m missing anything.

[Ask RPedia] Choosing a Theme?
Anonymous asked:  Don't know if this has been asked before but it seems like a lot of rp blogs have "Container themes" (some custom styled, some regular). I know it's all preference but why is common preference since it seems smaller and a bit hard to read if it's minimal.
This is such a thinly veiled gentle way of asking me, in frustration, to tell everyone your itty bitty god damn aesthetics boxes are hurting people’s eyes and driving them off.
So Short PSA: They’re pretty, but for the love of cute animals, try using a scaling-in-size theme that does the same thing? They’re like blogs for ants. Some folks, I admit, can’t even browse blogs like that. I personally leave your carefully curated tiny tiny, tiny, boxes because show up on like one quarter of my screen at a size smaller than my thumb.
Round about ways to get around this? You can open those blogs in your dash with x-kit. Or you can just use ctrl and + to make the thing fit your big ass screen, but then everything’s blurry.Goodbye aesthetics, hello visibility! You can also try something like Just Read for Chrome or Reader for Firefox. They strip the CSS entirely and turn the webpage into your submissive eager toy.
Just to be clear: be careful about your choices if you choose a blog design with a smaller screen in mind. Folks with bigger screens find it hard to read, so it may drive us off, and give us eyestrain, which is shit for finding new RP.
I guess I should do a ‘what’s important when picking a theme’ thing to help maximize use for others? So here we go, kids.
Text visibility in themes is extraordinarily important. Roleplaying is about your writing and your gifs I guess here on the wacky world of Tumblr, but mostly writing. Every other website has a focus on it for a reason, it’s literally how you communicate prose. Gif’s are cute, but you don’t need them.
So, lesson one. Make the text visible. It should be around 12px large, you can go down to 10px but that’s going to make some people avoid your blog, which stops you from finding potential players! That’s bad! So go with 12px unless you have a damn good reason, or don’t really have issues finding partners.
Make the colors readable. Do not put red on cyan, don’t do some faded white text that looks mysterious on some dappled background. Don’t overlay it with effects. Don’t do white on black, or black on white. Find a comfortable medium, something you can read at length without burning out your eyes. Many people favor a darker background with lighter text to avoid that burning sensation that white can produce, many others hate that like the dickens so hey if anyone codes themes looks at this, a ‘nightmode’ switch for colors in a theme being dark on white or white on dark would be the coolest thing ever.
Also, do not put it in a god damn tiny ass fixed width box. Theme coders! I love you, I do, but please try using flexible elements. Making the div width a percentage instead of a fixed pixel size can do fucking wonders for people. It lets all the elements fit without being a mess. If you use background-position you can set an image to the right, the left, the center bottom, whatever. Use those for all 4 sides of the box, and then throw in a god damn background-size and background-size-moz of like 100% of the div holding them. Including the background of the entire body! Suddenly your whole fucking theme resizes to fit! It’s a miracle of god! It’s not perfect 100% of the time when you’re being a tricky little shit, and sure absolute positioning and a fixed pixel width can be useful in places, but don’t just go 800px wide because it’s the typical smallest screen size and therefore the “best” when you can do flexible coding!
... I may have gotten a bit nerdy there, sorry for anyone I lost on some of those notes. Anyways.
So you as a roleplayer should pick a simple theme, a banner on top is pretty but having to scroll down on every single new page gets old quickly. If you want people to read a lot of your posts rather often, sticking to sidebars is for the best. It’ll save them precious seconds, and they’ll stick around to read longer.
Make sure you navigation is way visible. Left and right arrows somewhere should be tasteful, but not hidden in the bushes somewhere. You want to be able to go from page to page easily. If the same way, avoid endless scrolling! Seriously! It’s neat on one hand, but trying to find your place after your browser tab crashes and you’re 200 pages into the blog is so horrible some people close the window and never return. You’ve killed another chance. Go for pagination, not endless scroll as often as possible.
Tags are important, so is the time posted, and links to profiles/OOC/tag lists/open thread tags and the like. These should all be visible and easy to access so people can get online, check the tag on your blog, see when you replies, and reply themselves. New people want to read your OOC, character profile, and information about everything important. So have your Out of Character and rules done and ready to go before you open shop!
Fancy elements should always be done with accessibility in mind. Do not pick some weird fucking mouse pointer that is hard as fuck to use, they’re cute, but make sure they have a point on them so people can see how to use them right. Don’t make the scrollbars too small to click. Don’t make a constant glitter shower on every single page that blurs out the writing and constantly distracts people. Avoid colors that clash painfully, red on blue for instance causes weird shapes at the corner of the eye and is generally unpleasant. You want your space to be as open and comfortable as possible.
This doesn’t mean don’t have cute art, or sweet fonts (at least for titles and the like, maybe don’t use cursive for the actual text font). It doesn’t mean some gifs can’t be managed, or  a dropdown header that only appears when you raise your mouse can’t be done. Just do it tastefully. Work hard at making your roleplay blog something everyone can read, and you’ll be that much closer to getting more partners to play with. Good luck!

Observations of a Black Guy at the Orlando March 4 Trump Rally I performed my original song, “We Are Americans,” at the Orlando March 4 Trump rally.  It felt like a family reunion, seeing patriots from the early days of the Tea Party movement – lots of hugs.  The mood of the rally was electric.  Everyone was happy, excited, and fired up about President Trump.
To the fake news media and Obama, who think their orchestrated lying campaign to destroy Trump is working, I say, “Forget about it!  It ain’t workin’!” Trump-mania is alive and well, stronger than ever! Vendors were selling Trump caps, t-shirts, and everything in between, including Trump welcome mats.  One elderly patriot adorned head to toe in red, white, and blue Trump paraphernalia told me she feared to put a Trump welcome mat outside her front door.  She said it is unfair that we cannot freely support our president without fear of attacks. The emcee instructed all us speakers to stay close to the stage.  However, I knew there were a few speakers ahead of me on the program, so I wandered away into the crowd to chat with people. A white gentleman shared with me his frustration trying to legally bring his foreign wife to the United States.  He said after battling incompetence, submitting a mountain of documents, and spending $18,000 thus far, his wife still has not been granted entry into the U.S.  We talked about the unfairness.  He is respecting and adhering to our immigration laws.  And yet Obama opened the floodgates to illegals, totally unvetted, gifting them government freebies unavailable to Americans.  I told the brother to hang in there.  Trump is cutting bureaucracy. I met a white woman who is chair of a Republican Club.  She said they have been reaching out to blacks in a sincere attempt to add more diversity to their club.  She asked my advice.  I chuckled and said, “Good luck with that!”  I have been trying to get blacks to break their mindless loyalty to the Democrats for over a decade.  Still, I told the patriot sister to keep trying.  With God’s help, suddenly mindsets can change. I asked a young white kid around 14 years old about the unique flag he was waving: blue with a crescent moon and the word “liberty.”  The kid was an encyclopedia regarding American flags, giving me the full history.  Blown away, I said, “You are way too smart for public school.  You have got to be homeschooled.”  He replied, “Yes, sir.”  I knew it.  In my years of touring the country on 14 Tea Party national bus tours, homeschooled kids were strikingly different: calmer, smarter, behaved, and well educated.  Leftists are at war with parents, trying to outlaw homeschooling. Everyone was buzzing about Trump tweeting about Obama bugging Trump Tower before the election.  Enraged fake news, Democrats, and other leftists bash Trump for tweeting, declaring it un-presidential.  Clearly, Trump supporters, over 60 million Americans, love it.  They love Trump speaking directly to them, bypassing leftist operatives disguised as mainstream media. An Asian female speaker addressing the crowd said it took her 35 years to become a legal U.S. citizen with the right to vote.  She expressed how proud she was to be an American.  The audience went nuts.  They loved her. Representatives from Hispanics, women, and blacks for Trump spoke from the stage.  They were warmly and enthusiastically embraced by the crowd.  We were family, united in our love for our country, excited about President Trump and his agenda: putting America first and making her great again.  Such was the theme of the day. I chatted with blacks at the rally to support Trump.  Interestingly, they were entrepreneurs.  It is funny how when you’re a businessperson trying to achieve your American Dream, you are well aware of the roadblocks placed in your path by high taxes and the government’s tyrannical, absurd regulations. The biggest thing I noticed at the Orlando rally for Trump was the obvious political growth and political sophistication of the participants.  Back in the early days of the Tea Party movement, we were naive patriots.  We thought we were fighting only the socialist policies of a left-leaning president and the Democrats. Today, we know our enemies: radical leftist Obama and his army of thugs; the fake news media; the corrupt Washington, D.C. political establishment (Republicans and Democrats); and NeverTrumps – united in their mission to destroy Trump’s presidency. We the People are politically well educated and well organized.  We are spiritual, emotionally, and intellectually locked and loaded, really for battle – really to support and defend our new president. Please continue moving forward, Mr. President.  We the People have your back! Lloyd Marcus, The Unhyphenated American Lloyd Marcus.com [email protected]
