Still catching up on fhjy but I’ve been thinking So Much about everything going on with Cassandra but I Can Make Anything About Astronomy and that’s about to be everyone else’s problem SO!!!
Thinking about the red rage stars that came from Cassandra. Thinking about the giant gods from the mountains of chaos and the god whose name has been erased. Thinking about the potential of a star god leeching power from Galicaea and Sol. Thinking about red giant stars.
A red giant is a dying star. When a star doesn’t have enough hydrogen for nuclear fusion, gravity acts on it harder and the compression makes it hotter, so it expands greatly and glows bright red, but since this heat is spread out over a greater surface area the surface becomes relatively cool. When the red giant’s core collapses in on itself, it becomes a white dwarf and ejects material into a nebula. This is the most violent stage of a star’s life.
It’s possible this giant god (Cassandra’s spouse) whose name has been erased was an old star or sun god, losing followers when sol came to prominence and being presumed dead, when it instead entered a red giant phase. They no longer have followers of their own to draw power from, so they leech off of the sun and moon for what little power they can get in their nameless state. Their influence is spread thin (like the demon that Lydia and her party fought) but they are fueled by this rage.
This dead god being a sun/star god for the giants would also explain the texts found being written in Giant, and would also explain the ties to Lucy Frostblade and her goddess, bc I’m sure there’s some sort of connection there
Also on a kind of meta level I know there’s a third party dnd compendium with a fallen star warlock patron that is p cool (i doubt they’re using that handbook specifically but there is a precedent for this thing)
On another meta level I think that the red giant pun is too good to pass up idk it’s fun to me

everyone needs to stop thinking about rosekiller as a tragic pairing and start considering their narrative as the inverse right now. the marauders era has so many beautiful, romantic tragedies: “what would we have done different if we knew what was coming?” but rosekiller is not one of them. every single one of their choices they made on purpose, for each other, knowing the full scope of what it meant. they wouldn’t have done a single thing different if they had to do it a hundred times over. the troubles with them are the circumstances they were given in life— blood purity, abuse, isolation. but they didn’t fall from happiness into a bitter ending (like the marauders), they came from a bitter beginning and made a life that was intentional.
barty came pre-broken. under imperius & his father he was not a whole person yet, he didn’t fully exist. what would you do if you loved someone who, by definition, was un-saveable? i think you would follow him wherever he went. and if the only thing that could get him out and allow him to Become Himself is a movement that’s awful and violent and bloody— of course you would do it anyway if you loved him enough!! i’m focusing on barty because we know more about him in canon. but just!! barty went from an emotionless, hollow half-existence to knowing the full spectrum of human emotion— love at one end, and grief (the last act of love) at the other. he lived to avenge himself by killing his abuser. he lived to avenge his lover by abusing his killer.
why would either of them have done a single thing different? it’s the opposite of a tragic ending— in the bitterest circumstances they made the single best thing they possibly could and that was loving each other. and they did it on purpose. i think about them a lot. anyway

Wanna talk about mischaracterisation? They’re literally a comedic duo who interacts 24/7. Marchil is crazy bc ppl are like "did those shipper read with their eyes CLOSED?? They have no chemistry!" Meanwhile canon is like:
"She’s obsessed with knowing everything she can about him and she reads him like a book." In her eyes he’s like that extra rare and hard and shiny unlockable dating sim character, that brooding mysterious character trope that’s thrilling to crack open and typically is at the center of the plot. The wife roleplay????
"Hey, did you know his type is blondes. Hey did you know he likes his women pretty and blonde. Hey did you know he likes her hair. Hey did you know that he teases her 24/7 and it’s one of the few things that consistently gets him grinning because he finds her reactions cute." Like a schoolyard bully pulling on the pigtails of the girl he likes.
It’s not like they have any thematic narratives or relevance. It’s not like she’ll live to 1000 and has existential dread about it while he’s logically gonna be her next friend to die at 50 and wether it’s romantic or platonic it’ll terrify her to lose him. It’s not like it’s fear of death x fear of rejection so they’re both obsessed with the thought of loss looming, past and ongoing. It’s not like it’s half-elf x half-foot and there’s an inherent journey that was and still is to dispel prejudices and truly come to see each other. It’s not like he’s painfully real and raw and flawed but still a good man, that he’s not the figure of prince charming that she’s always dreamed of while still being virtuous and worth fighting for. Or you know, her hair being golden and it being the epitome of beauty to him, and his hair turning silver and it being Marcille’s worst nightmare.
Just a weird wacky ship who means nothing but shallow things to people who have weirdo reasons for liking it. Like can you not. If you’re not imaginative enough to think of reasons why this ship may have an appealing dynamic that’s not my issue.
But yes, yes, they’re both flat asses to me, thanks.

I hate Hunters future design with such a passion because he’s literally just fuckin Caleb now

#if I speak…#one of the girls walked out yesterday#the best worker we have is on the verge of blowing up on this bitch’s leaders bc since he can do everything quick and efficiently already#they’re putting 3 to 4 ppl’s workloads on him to see how far they can extend his worth and then they’re over his shoulder the whole time#micromanaging him so today he almost lost it and was literally walking around mumbling about his disrespectful they all are (facts)#and how if they don’t think he’s doing it right then they can do it and I know for a fact one of the ladies heard him#bc he wasn’t even trying to hide it at this point and like this dude is cool he has a lot of patience and helps out any way he can#so if HE’S on the brink of snapping then the rest of us don’t stand a chance LMFAO#anyways today was a fucking mess those leaders know nothing about our store yet so they have us making less than what we need until we need#it so we get behind constantly and they made prep a disaster bc again they think they can just prep a bunch of stuff in the morning#and it’ll last the whole day and yes that works in theory but the reality of the situation is every day is different and today#we sold double what we did yesterday so they had to move me to prep to fix their mistakes bc we were running out of stuff 4 hours in lmfao#and I’m the only one left who knows how to do everything on prep bc the other girls had never done it before#we’re supposed to prep 20 mac n cheese trays in the morning for the whole day#we open lunch at 10:30 tell me why I go into the cooler at 12 put more in the oven and there’s only 5 left#it’s been less than 2 HOURS and you’re already running out of macs which means those idiots prepped barely anything just to try and save mo#*money to cut down waste but that gag if you’re losing money bc now you’re short on everything and customers are leaving bc they’re having#to wait a long time for their food#and macs take 40 minutes to cool LMFAO#I get over there they’re out of parfaits they’re out of fruit cups they’re out of kale salads the front is coming in and having to take#stuff as I make it bc they keep getting orders and it’s all just a fucking mess#I have to make a custom wrap and what happens?? those morons didn’t pull the flatbreads out of the freezer like they’re supposed to every#night so now we have no flatbread and I had to run back there and put them in the warming drawer to defrost and we lost an order bc I had#nothing to make the wraps with <3#I go back there to get more cold chicken SPOILER ALERT they didn’t have anyone make any this morning so now there’s no chicken for the wrap#and salad and it has to be grilled and then chilled for 2 FUCKING HOURS before it can be used#they’re a fucking disaster like 😭#was the store perfect before?? ofc not but it ran quickly and efficiently as it should and now it’s literally just a mess#this bitch hasn’t even owned it for a full week yet and has already fucked it all up#womp womp!!!!!!

You have no idea how happy I am to see that other people like you don't like blades 2 as well. Like yes it was decent, but on the same level as book 1 in the LEAST.
And I agree, book 3 seems like an excuse to get fans off of their back about the writing. The finale felt extremely disappointing, compared to the thrill you could feel in book 1 end
Yeah, I’m still gonna play book 3 and (foolishly) hope that it’ll be better. But those hopes aren’t too high because book 2 was not a good set up for book 3 at all in my opinion. There’s so much going on. I don’t like that Valax is a part of our friend group now. However, the group dynamics were off long before that if I’m being real. Mal’s route was ruined for me.
When I was going through and deleting my screenshots the other day, I reread the “You slept through it scene” and just felt a renewed sense of hurt and anger at him and really all of our friends. Mal caught a lot of heat from me specifically because he’s my LI and the one who said such an awful thing. But honestly, the rest of the group essentially agreed with him by expanding on what he said (Imtura and Nia) or not saying anything at all (Tyril) and only getting on one accord to exclude MC.
And then on top of all of that, there are quite a few holes that really should be patched up. The plot was a mess for the majority of the story. Tbh it was almost giving Endless Summer because they were locking important information behind diamond scenes and in the lore tablets.
So all this to say that at this point in time, I no longer have faith that PB can handle complex storytelling. Their parent company and higher ups (unsurprisingly) only care about money. And the writers themselves are too lazy and too biased. Does that mean they can no longer write enjoyable stories? No, of course not. But I do think they need to rein it in and be a bit more realistic about what they can handle right now because there’s nothing wrong with a simpler book/plot that’s aware of what it’s trying to accomplish. And it’s clear that they were far too ambitious with Blades 2
#choices bolas#choices blades#blades of light and shadow#choices stories you play#playchoices#if book 3 is as disappointing as or worse than book 2 I’m just gonna ignore them and only consider book 1 canon#and then just make up my own headcanon for what happened after lol#I think i and quite a few other people have been operating off of the notion that PB could tell great complex stories#but they weren’t because cheap smut is what sells#but now I can’t even believe that anymore#they just don’t have the range#and maybe I should’ve come to this conclusion sooner but 🤷🏽♀️#and back to the Mal thing for a second I’m being so serious when I say rereading that scene broke my heart all over again#when I first read it my initial reaction was anger so I couldn’t even really focus on anything immediately after that#but upon rereading my heart just sunk for MC#bc if the writers did one thing well it was making the rift between MC and the rest of the group palpable#and it was also very obvious that she was hurt by that and ended up internalizing Mal’s statement/the group’s sentiments on that year#‘Just a little blood No scars Nothing I was asleep for all of it My body works fine’#so I’ll just close out by saying enjoying the book was a challenge for me#and it shouldn’t have been because I *wanted* to enjoy it#book 1 was so good and it getting greenlit for a book 2 was such an unexpected surprise#plus we waited so long for it but it just did not meet expectations#choices#choices app#choices ask
