the difference between tomgreg and tomshiv is that if tom would bite greg but greg would never bite tom back. and shiv would bite tom and wants tom to bite her back. and that is why tomshiv reigns supreme. tomgreg is just tomshiv's shadow.

The hate shiv gets on comments across succession social media and even here on tumblr shows how deeprooted misogynistic behaviour is and how often people dont realise they are being misogynistic!!! I mean people hate her for the same stuff that Tom, Roman, and Kendall repetitively do- but she is a woman so it’s “vindictive” its “manipulative.” THEY ARE ALL MANIPULATIVE then why does Shiv get the most hate. Plus, she is the one who you can understand the most. Queen b got brought up in a family of sexist fucks always being treated lesser than and kept out for just being a woman. Her mom is shit. Her marriage is clearly fucked. The funniest part? I actually thing she is the most strategic and smart out of all siblings she is not affected by how logan would think or what logan would do. I want shiv to win and it to be rubbed on the face of all the idiots who hate her.

people on twitter being mad about the shiv pregnancy storyline and blaming sarah …… pls be serious and also use your brains to think of the timeline because sarah was not pregnant when that story was pitched for sure, especially since it’s been hinted at since s3

Succession S4 Thoughts (Controversial?)
I hate Tom and Greg. I have voiced this before several times. They are despicable but we also have no context about their upbringing and trauma, so if I am to assume it was less traumatic, they are both much more horrid than the kids.
Shiv deserves to catch a break. People talk about her not being equipped to run a company when she is probably the most sane out of all siblings. She has mommy and daddy issues, yes, but is also the only one who thinks more practically outside her emotions. She is also the one always cast out because she is a girl. I can't imagine growing up in a household led by a sexist and misogynistic man like Logan. And honestly, I love Roman but he follows close behind the daddy footsteps. People say Tom loves her, lol, have you watched the show? He tried to threaten her then remembered what Karl said about his wife not even liking him, and started acting kind. Anytime he tries to get close to shiv there is a motive. Tom is an abusive man, he abuses his wife emotionally and abuses her cousin sexually and physically.
Greg is the most social climber person I have ever seen. He doesn't care at all about anyone only to get higher on the ladder. He feels he is entitled to some of the money, why? because he was born a roy? LOL he is the biggest joke. And how are people surprised about how he treated Kerry, he would do anyone dirty to get ahead. He is scouting out his next mommy.
Roman and Kendall, I am terrified for both. I have a feeling one or the other is going to be killed off. I really hope not, I really hope at the end the kids do end up better, healed. But, succession is more a tragedy, so I doubt that would happen. Nonetheless, one can hope. Kendall is easily seduced by toxicity, and Roman is feelingless right now. I wish them well.
I love Connor this season and I want to see him win lol.

the only good part about succession ending is the fact that I don’t have to see “you can’t make a tomlette without breaking some greggs 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣” posts every 5 minutes

Toxic Sludge Yaoi Tournament: Tomgreg (Succession) Vs Tyler Durden/Narrator (Fight Club)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(No images provided. Vote for whichever you like.)
Propaganda under cut. Note: spoilers for these medias may be below.
Tomgreg propaganda
"Tom is married to Greg's rich cousin and is also Greg's boss. As all Succession characters, they are terrible people. Tom immediately takes Greg under his wing because finally there's someone beneath him on the pecking order and proceeds to playfully and lovingly mistreat the daylights out of him. Tom constantly switches between humiliating and criticizing Greg with great enjoyment and treating him as his protege, and he never fails to make homoerotic insinuations while doing so. Not only does he ask Greg to kiss him several times, only to turn back around and tell him he's joking, he also compares himself to Nero and Greg to Sporus, Nero's slave whom he castrated and then married. They double cross and betray each other at least five times over the course of the show and Tom takes out all his frustrations with other people on Greg (there's a memorable scene where he pelts him with water bottles) but they always keep coming back to each other because they're the closest to a healthy emotional connection each one of them has. The end of the show has Tom saving Greg from being fired and marking him as his with a sticker he was supposed to use to mark what furniture he wanted from his dead father in law's home."
Tyler Durden/Narrator propaganda
"Where to begin? They’re literally the archetypal toxic yaoi. That burning kiss on the back of the hand, the starting a cult, the getting a whole load of guys to try to destroy the world. The Narrator has no identity, and Tyler Durden is everything, consuming the Narrator completely. They deserve to win. To finish this off, a few quotes from the Narrator about his relationship with Tyler: “I love everything about Tyler Durden, his courage and his smarts. His nerve. Tyler is funny and charming and forceful and independent, and men look up to him and expect him to change their world. Tyler is capable and free, and I am not.” “We have sort of a triangle thing going here. I want Tyler. Tyler wants Marla. Marla wants me. I don’t want Marla, and Tyler doesn’t want me around, not anymore. This isn’t about love as in caring. This is about property as in ownership.” “Tyler tilts the can of lye an inch above the shining wet kiss on the back of my hand. “This is a chemical burn,” Tyler says, “and it will hurt worse than you’ve ever been burned. Worse than a hundred cigarettes.”” And another quote from the author: “On a plane back to Portland, an airline flight attendant leaned close and asked me to tell him the truth. His theory was the book wasn’t really about fighting at all. He insisted it was really about gay men watching one another fuck in public steambaths. I told him, yeah, what the hell.”"

when you watch a movie from the 70s and notice two characters having an uncannily tomgreg-ish dynamic complete with the greg equivalent actually being very tall and looking and gesturing a lot like him, only to realize 30 minutes in that that character is in fact ewan's actor and also his film debut

alright i’ve seen a lot of people disgruntled about the recent tomgreg dynamic and i want to put my two cents in. yes, i agree that it is kind of unbelievable that we went from “would you kiss me” + nero and sporus + forehead kiss + deal with the devil + homoerotic dialogue near constantly with them, on top of whatever the fuck they were doing in that first episode of season four, to pretty much nothing lately.
HOWEVER. i do think there’s a reason for it all that still implies tomgreg in some way shape or form. and i’m not trying to be delusional here with some “here’s how tomgreg can still win” bs because at this point i don’t think they can, but. let’s think about where the story’s going, right. how tomshiv has now been taken off the back burner and brought to the forefront of the plot. if we’re going to really say that tomgreg is real or whatever, then it’s only reasonable that a shift in the tomshiv dynamic means a definite shift with tomgreg must also happen, right?
so here’s what i’m getting at: i do not think it’s mere coincidence that in almost every scene where tomshiv have interacted lately, greg has been right at tom’s side. and though it’s been happening again and again and again, it was the moment when tom finds shiv crying in e6 that cemented this little theory for me. we have tomgreg, greg stooped over by tom’s side and a definite unprofessional amount of personal space between them like always as they enter the room. tom sees shiv, while greg becomes visibly awkward and uncomfortable. but it’s the fact that before tomshiv are free to interact, and ultimately kiss for the first time in who knows how long, greg has to very pointedly leave the room—it is a literal, blatant illustration of how greg is a wedge between them, a weird parody of the other woman. and yes, obviously anyone else would have also left in that moment, because shiv was clearly vulnerable, but it wasn’t just anyone else—it was greg, and that’s the point.
greg is still sporus and tom is still nero and i do believe the writers are showing this to us plain as day. the metaphor has continued with a pregnant shiv who literally fell down the stairs in e4, with the behavior between tomgreg in e1, with tom breaking down and seeking comfort not from his legal wife but from his sporus in e3. it’s in the fact that before tom can return to his relationship with shiv, he has to distance himself from her replacement with all of these little dismissals.
so i do think that this sudden drop off in tomgreg is intentional, and still very much implies that there is/was/could be something between them. we’re getting our tomgreg proof by way of divorce. tom left shiv to be wed to sporus, and now before he can return to his first wife, tomgreg has to come to a natural end. and it is definitely an end, because whether you believe they’re a thing or not, tom’s behavior with greg in the season 3 finale compared to the most recent episodes of season 4 is like night and day. so there it is i think. tomgreg won many battles but at the end of the day, tomshiv is winning the war

when you think about it of course tomgreg won. because of the cycle. a tomgregless ending would be an ending where they escaped the cycle of power and betrayal and codependence that they've been stuck in since the beginning. so of course greg betrayed tom and of course tom forgave him. they will never learn and never change and now the future of the company is in their hands. love wins <3 <3
