How does one become your friend?

honestly I'm so mentally compromised by fatigue today that my answer- I don't know??- sent me into an actual spiral of "do I not know how to be a friend to myself is it a commentary on my psychological health and state of being" sooooo might just have to leave all that aside and go with, uh, try messaging or chatting some way? I'm generally afraid of bothering people, what if they think I'm a creep, but I usually like it when people talk to me and then boom! I, at least, consider us friends- same as most people on here I'd guess. But watch out! I am annoying and unless discouraged will then consider us pals forever if we have two friendly interactions, sorry.

not a dumb question no worries !

arospec means on the aromantic spectrum. aromanticism is when you don’t experience romantic feelings the way some other people do.

it’s called a spectrum for a reason. you can have little to a lot of romantic interest in others. some people on the aromantic spectrum are open to dating, some want to remain single their whole life.

i identify as arospec, meaning i’m on the aromantic spectrum. i rarely get crushes or anything like that, but i’m not entirely romance-repulsed.

similar stuff goes with the term aspec, which is the asexual spectrum, just replace ‘romantic love’ with ‘sexual attraction.’

What do you make of Chuuya’s insistence on waving away formality in regards to his name? Since the formal or polite way to address him for those younger and not well acquainted would be by his last name. But Chuuya has shown to not really care about formalities such as those.

Do you think on some level it’s related to his desire to prove himself as human. And how he tends to do that through his relationships with people around him. So by getting rid of that level of formality even if it still doesn’t wave away the fact that that person wouldn’t be close, gives him some feeling of grounding himself to people?

Well the official answer is "because real life Nakahara Chuuya used his first name".

Fun BSD answer is: Chuuya hates being seen as a figure of authority over others. He repeatedly shirks his title as "King of the Sheep", telling everyone he's just another kid with a power. He dislikes being put in a position above others/seen as having authority over others. He has subordinates but he treats them very casually, as seen in his interaction with Akutagawa in DA, his drinking with Hirotsu and Kajii (both being below him in rank), him referring to Akutagawa and Higuchi as "you guys" despite their formal/respectful way of greeting him at the end of SB, and the Onsen shorts.

He exercises his authority if he needs to but he completely disregards formalities when it comes to conversing with anyone below him in rank. Hence why he insists on everyone using his given name. It's a way to show he's on the same level as others.

#random personal stuff #I get it everyone in church wants to fuss over the babies #who are very cute and I'm glad that they're loved! they should be!#but I'd like to put in a good word *also* for a group who tend to get overlooked and undervalued #and that's older kids #once you get past baby age in the church circles I'm familiar with #you are no longer an object of adoration and are now a nuisance a burden and a problem that needs to be suppressed and contained #parents will openly complain about them and heaven forbid anyone reach adolescence because then they're regarded as next-door to a monster #and not many people are really listening to older kids or thinking about what they might need as human beings #which is connection and knowing that people give a darn about them personally #and don't just see them as something to be 'kept busy' or as free labor/babysitting for younger nuisances #I have the most interesting conversations with these kids #they're bright and hilarious and passionate about all kinds of things #and they're dealing with more than most adults seem to realize or take seriously #I remember being that age very vividly and the adult whom I wanted to be around the most was my aunt whenever she visited #because she actually took the time to listen to me and put up my jawing about [current obsession]#probably took a lot of patience on her part but I appreciated it so much #it made me feel like I mattered #sometimes the kids at church will talk to me and I want to be for them the kind of adult my aunt was for me #they ARE worth listening to!#everybody at every stage of life is worth caring about

ovw invasion spoilers i guess but I just wanted to jot down the ideas me and friend have been rotating

messing w how can ramattra be a 'villain' character despite the typical 'humans abuse robots, humans and robots cant co-exist' spiel which is usually like, slightly justified now with the new, curious and hypocritical things Null Sectors been doing, and a line from ram's bio entry

(I'll add screencaps later of the text as sources maybe; I was reading from my friend's screen and I dont have the pve myself yet to look it up)

ramattra viewed his sentience more like a curse than a gift, he's noted to have struggled viewing it as a good thing for him

he has an emphasis on pain and suffering he's endured ^, and seeming to want to relieve other omnics from it

the helmets essentially inhibiting an omnic's soul, their thoughts and essentially the sentience, theyre in a numb comatose state

just a what if/imagine if ramattra's goal was to liberate omnics from suffering, by reversing the gift/curse of sentience

an extreme and scary take on what someone might consider merciful

this is just a fun 'oh yeah isn't he supposedly a villain' idea idk lol

I haven't written reader insert fic since 2014 but honestly I'm Going Through It, so... Here's Bubba taking care of a depressed/fatigued/burnt out/generally low energy or overwhelmed reader. Oh, and I use they/them pronouns for Bubba, since I see them as either bigender or genderfluid(possibly both). These also casually assume the reader lives with the Sawyers.

They immediately notice when something's wrong. They make a mental note of any little change in your behavior or habits, their usual acts of service becoming more and more anticipatory, from making your favorite meals to leaving you little gifts of carved bone or recycled garbage that they made with Nubbins, anything that might cheer you up.

Bubba practically hides you from Drayton entirely, just in case he might say something a little too harsh and make things worse.

The twins are also urged away, unless their manic energy helps you feel better. Bubba loves them both dearly, of course, but they can be loud and chaotic- not always the best when you're trying to rest and recuperate.

They prefer to keep you close, if you're okay with that, but their daily chores might get in the way. In that case, they either ask the twins to cover for them(Bubba will do the same in return, they always do) or simply carry you around the house with them, dropping you in the comfiest spots while they cook or clean or otherwise go about their day. Any household chores that were yours to do are quietly added to their metaphorical list, unless you absolutely insist on doing something productive to help you out of this slump.

More important than their daily routine is yours. They make sure you're fed, hydrated, and wearing clean clothes before anything else, even if Drayton rides their ass about not pitching in with chores.

When they're not busy with housework, they want nothing more than to be close to you. They're eager to wrap their strong arms around you, as if they could physically protect you from all the terrible things you're feeling. In a way, it works. Curled up on their lap, head on their chest, their heartbeat in your ears while they stroke your hair... It's enough to make you forget whatever's troubling you, at least for a bit.

Bubba also makes sure you're decently clean. They're not going to drag you into the shower every single day, but if it's been a while, they help you wash up, calloused hands scrubbing your skin with the utmost care. They're flushed behind their mask and ignoring the blood rushing to their hips as best they can, trying to focus on your needs instead of their desires.

Fresh air's important, but the Texas heat makes so many days unpleasantly hot. After dinner, when the blazing sun's set and the comfortably cool night air has rolled in, Bubba ushers you outside. If you can manage a walk around the yard, great. If not, straight to the swing. It's plenty big enough for the both of you, and you spend some time taking in the stars above. The world is quiet save for the sounds of nocturnal critters. Bubba gently rocks the swing, bouncing slightly on their heels, adding the swing's creak to the nighttime chorus. Their hand engulfs yours, your fingers interlacing. For a fleeting moment, life is peaceful.

I know people raved for The Song of Achilles but I don't get it. It was... Solidly fine. If the whole book could have been like the last 100 pages I'd Get It, but it was mostly Patroclus being the blandest, most passive man alive, passively in love with Achilles while Achilles was The Golden Boy. It wasn't until they got to Troy that Patroclus started to be his own character, and by that point it was too late for me to care all that much about him and their inevitable tragedy. So much potential left on the table, imo

#granted im not the most familiar with the iliad and this corner of greek stories #but as i was reading i was like ''wasnt patroclus a warrior too? didnt he do stuff in the trojan war?''#meanwhile patroclus in the book was training with chiron and achilles and avoiding any fight training like the plague #made it a... good surprise i guess when he still went out and did good battle before his demise at hector's hands #but idk if the author was going for a divine moment that he was suddenly Good At Fighting when standing in for Achilles #or a twist juxtaposition?#idk the pieces of it all didnt come together for me #didn't give the characters enough early on for me to care about them very deeply and thus their tragedy didnt hit me very hard #if anyone else has read this book and has opinions id love to hear them #always curious what other's took away from books #especially when I'm def in the critical minority for not loving this book #book club
