on canon
So here's the deal:
No work of fiction has a single interpretation. There are as many interpretations, pretty much, as there are people, and that's because the job of fiction is to tell us about ourselves—about others too, yes, and about the world around us, yes. But primarily, a work of fiction is a collaboration between the author and the reader/viewer/player/etc.
What does that mean, exactly? Surely the creator is the one who gets to say what a character is? Well, no.
Let's take a character (call him... idk, something nice and generic, like "Boro"). The creator wrote Boro with certain ideas in mind. But Boro doesn't really come to life until he reaches the viewer—when the creator's concept interacts with the viewer, to create something new. And there are a lot of viewers.
A work of fiction is as much what the viewer sees as it is what the creator intended. It's what we all bring to it, as much as it's what the creator wrote. Art is not dictated; it's not a straitjacket, with rules and diktats that must never be broken. Art is released into the world. Because art is nothing without an audience.
What Boro (or his frenemy Ben, or their close lookalikes Bight and Bell, or any characters or canon you want to name) are is as much about how you think of them, and what you see, and what you personally bring to them, as they are about their dialogue and visuals and the events of their plot.

This means there is really no "bad" fanfiction. We all create and write to our own vision—we draw on our ideas of the original work, on the inspiration we personally drew from it. We take the things that spoke to us—that moved us, or obsessed us, or that we just found funny—and we create things we love, using the original work as a source. Plus, we're all learning our art—some of us have been writing for twenty years, and others have just started. That kid writing today will write the epics of tomorrow. So don't bite the newbies.
Sometimes our shared universes overlap, and that's great! Sometimes nobody else agrees, which can be kind of lonely—but doesn't make your vision somehow less valid. We are not painting by numbers; we're creating a palimpsest of slightly different (or very different) visions.
Why start fights because someone else doesn't share your artistic vision? Make your own thing that you like. We're a flock of birds singing, not the Borg.
digression: so why do you spend so much time talking about canon
I'm more of a researcher than I'm a writer. And what became clear to me very early on was just how much I'd missed on my playthrough of P5R—and just how well the story hung together, when you scratched a little below the surface. Those things interest me. I don't like the feeling that I misunderstood things, and I like unearthing connections, obscure text chats that are easy to miss, cockeyed correspondences that don't necessarily mean anything, and so on.
For me, canon is our shared baseline. It's the light outside before it hits our retinas, before we get into the detail of whether the blue I see is really the blue you see. I find digging into canon can spur ideas; a close look at it can support interpretations that are often ridiculed ("Akechi feels remorse for his actions" would like a word).
Ultimately, everything I blog about is my interpretation. I hope it's accurate and I'm glad when it speaks to people! But it's not the law. And if people are creating things that don't agree with it? Good. That's exactly how it's supposed to be.

will/el/mike s2 parallel
i think everyone knows about the parallel of both el and will screaming for mike in the upside down, but i want to make a post about it because the scenes are parallels in more ways than just that
at the start of the upside down sequence in both scenes, will and el are both on the ground and the shot is aerial. i find it interesting that el’s is upside down while will’s isn’t. idk if that means something, maybe that el was actually in the real upside down while will was only having a vision.
they both stand up and look around, and the shots are very similar. i recommend going on netflix or youtube and watching these scenes back to back. they are VERY similar and it’s easier to see when you’re actually watching it. (i’m 99% sure they happen in the same episode---s2e2)
it’s also cool how we’ve been seeing parallels between will and el since season 2, and now they’re the supernatural wonder twins of the show. (who are the only 2 characters with a connection to 001 and the ud)
anyways, el and will both start running and calling out for mike. very cute and sad tbh :(
but the parallel ends here.
el finds her own way out of the upside down. she uses her powers and climbs out. mike wasn’t there to help her, and she got out on her own.
meanwhile, with will...
mike breaks will out of his vision. will didn’t save himself like el, mike did.
the mindflayer was coming after will in this scene. right before mike shows up, you can see the mindflayer coming down the stairs and getting very close to will. i can’t say for sure, but it seems like if mike hadn’t been there, the mindflayer would’ve gotten to will and carried out his plan to possess will like he did on the field. mike saved will.
it’s not clear if it was specifically mike who snapped will out of it or if it was just external interference, but either way it doesn’t matter. the times we see will snapped out of a vision, it’s mike who breaks through to him (like at the arcade in ep 1). but im willing to bet it was mike’s voice that was enough to break through to will, since he is in love with mike. and when will is possessed and joyce, jonathan, and mike are trying to get through to him, it’s mike who gives will enough control to tap out morse code. it’s a pattern, and it’s on purpose.
so what’s the moral of the story? el doesn’t need mike, but will does.
i refuse to believe this doesn’t mean anything when the entire point of s4 was establishing that el doesn’t need mike anymore, but will will always need mike. we also establish that mike needs to be needed.
so you mean to tell me mike is going to end up with the person who does not need him, when he needs to be needed, and not the person who bared their life to him and said they will always need him and are lost without him? absolutely no fucking way
also, i want to establish once again that my point doesn’t lie with who the characters are as people, it’s with the writing. repeated visual representation of el not needing mike vs mike saving will, as well as narrative representation is meant to send the audience a message. it’s called subtext, and it’s a very real thing. that’s why jonathan saved nancy from the upside down, not steve. yes i know steve wasn’t there and couldn’t save her, but we got that plot-point & visual with jonathan, not steve. therefore making the watcher root for jancy, not stancy.
the writers are essentially training the audience for byler becoming canon. its going to be a season 5 surprise, but it won’t be out of nowhere. cause you can rewatch the show and find things like this, and it all makes sense.
i have a lot more to say about the writers constantly showing you how el does not need mike, but i’m gonna have to make one big master post about it because there is a LOT.

Oops I meant to answer this earlier. Anyways yes! I will be putting this under a read more because. Lol. Enjoy!
You wanna know a secret? Earlier this year I was researching parodies and the legalities of them because I had the grand idea to make a togainu remake but yuri and with some story changes. A whole ass visual novel. I was seriously planning on making it. Suffice to say I have put in some thought in turning these yaoi boys into yuri girls.
We will be here all day if I list every little thought and headcanon I have! I'll def make more posts about my visions in the future, but for right now I need to talk about Shiki. I NEED TO TALK ABOUT SHIKI.
First and foremost, my overall thoughts about Shiki: wasted potential. His route was a huge disappointment when I finally got to it. It was fumbled so fucking badly and it pains my soul because Shiki is hot and I love the concept of his character but.. man. What a let down. I ended up thinking about him a lot because of this. What I would do if I were in charge of writing his route, parts of his characterization that I'd rid of or ameliorate, and maybe even giving him some new quirks to not make him so one-dimensional-evil-villain type. And then along with this, I started thinking about what if he was a woman. because I am attractdd to women. Typical thought process.
First, his design. I am a sucker for black haired red eyes bitches. I love black and red. I'm dying my hair black and red at the end of the year. The majority of my wardrobe is black and red. I do not play around #EMO. I love the almost leather gothic look he has but unfortunately it is not enough for me. I felt that he needed more unnecessary accessories and belts and other clothing items, as any goth should have. I've had a few ideas in mind for Shiki girl outfit and they all lean into these more, like giving her extra bracelets, belts, necklaces, crosses, whatever. I want her DECKED OUT!!! But I also struggle coming up with outfits so I can't really decide what looks good LMAO
Things I love about Shiki's outfit:
- The gloves. UGHHH gloves are so fun. The longer the gloves are the better.
- His stupid coat
- The spikes and crosses. The silver adds a lot to his appearance
- Turtleneck<3
Things I don't like about Shiki's outfit:
- those stupid ass notches on his pants. I can't tell if he has insane thigh-high boots or strange pants, and neither can a lot of artists it seems like? Though it seems pants are the consensus. SAD!
- Turtleneck should have long sleeves
- Or his coat should have long sleeves. One of those two
- What the hell is going on with his belt. It'd look fine if it didn't have those strange hanging.. circle... things
NOW MY IDEAS
I like the idea of her having a corset and fishnets, so I've been including that in whatever iteration of her design I'm working on. I gotta keep the coat too as it's like, a Shiki classic. I've also been trying to decide how a skirt for her might look (I love the idea of it having a slit so you can see her fishnets and thigh high boots).
But I'm torn on including the turtleneck as much as I love it.... I feel like it kinda clashes. Idk maybe i should just move her skirt up so it's not hanging off her ass but also it's fun to draw it that way.
Although adding another belt with the skirt could work too, and have the fishnets peaking out from the skirt slit... not gonna draw that rn though im just brainstorming here
Like I said earlier I'd love to give her way more accessories than base Shiki has but I need to definitely play around with outfit ideas more bc I don't want her to look too cluttered either. Also sorry all the pics are torso only because for some reason I struggle HARD with drawing calves and feet
I don't have much to say for hair ideas.. I just like the idea of it flairing out + two long.. idk what to call them... strands of hair? Down her cheeks?? Okay well u see what I mean in the pic. Bangs pretty much stay the same
And ohhh my god I know togainu is set in the post-apocalyptic future, but considering it came out in 2005 I feel obligated to rework some of the designs to be a little more y2k.. Akira with low waisted flared jeans... making Shiki even more gothic... it's so fucking fun HOW CAN I NOT!!
Also the other day I saw this one corset that I LOVED and wanted to see if I can Shiki-fy it but hmm... idk... I definitely need to play around with the idea more but here's a quick sketch i did just for funsies so you get the idea
Okay moving on
Second, his characterization. I love the idea of what they were going for in terms of his relation to Nano. I wish so badly they had expanded on this past Shiki just hating line users and killing them because he's unable to kill Nano (although I do think this is a pretty good bit of characterization). I'm pretty sure the Chayamachi manga goes more into this but idc we are talking about the game so I'm gonna pretend it doesn't exist.
Shiki is smug and cocky. Incredibly so. But a big part of his character is how hateful he is, so much so that it's this hate that motivates everything he does.
I love it. I love his hatred. I wish the game went more into it sooo badly and like if he found out Akira had anti-line blood before the end of the game and there was time given to show his reaction? Would he hate Akira for it??? Would he feel any kind of resentment?? If I was Shiki I'd definitely feel complicated as fuck over it!!!
Anyways I'm still working out how fem Shiki could be improved upon in terms of this, and I LOVEEE LOVE LOVE LOVE writing personality and backstories and relationships with other characters and how they all interact with each other. I have very deep oc lore because of this but i will not get into my ocs rn because they have nothing to do with togainu.
This post is already long enough however and if I were to talk about all the ideas I had for Shiki characterization upgrade... well it'd take even longer. To say the least. One day I'll talk about it though! In a more comprehensive post including other characters and whatnot. It's something I definitely also need to work out in my head more tho
It's been a pretty fun project so far that I hope to do more with in the future. Side note that doesn't really matter but there's this song that I always imagine fem Shiki amvs too oops.. RIDE IT by LustSickPuppy... this part especially.......

i will literally never be over the kh pilot. everyone has already moved on. wow what a cool novelty. sucks that it got canceled. okay im just going to never think about this ever again lalala~ (or its weird. or the art is bad. or its got too many inaccuracies. whatever.)
but me? no. im insane. this thing is too insane and amazing to just end the conversation about it. i will always think about this thing. i will always think about the massive loss the kh community never even knew they had until recently.
while i will never know what the full creative vision was. this pilot tells us that THEY. WERE. COOKING. they lean into the fact that sora is just a kid, (SOME FANS FORGET THIS) and he now faces this burden of being a hero when all he really wants is to see his friends again. the !! even though its just a pilot and riku was probably put in agrabah just so they can introduce him to the audience. i would’ve LOVED more riku encounters. traverse town, neverland and monstro were great. but in my opinion? not enough! though the only thing i would fear riku’s more frequent appearances would do is distract from some of the disney stuff (you dont wanna get rid of it. but you dont want it to take over. its a delicate balance) so maybe use him a lil sparingly but god. put him in more situations, okay?
while kairi plays a more proactive role in kh1 and thats fine (shes not useless. i hate when people call her that) i still would’ve LOVED more scenes with her. whether it was in destiny islands or near the end of game. im just liek YES !! you go girl. prolong the heartless sora segment if ya have to. do it for her. it would’ve been fun to see kairi and sora hollow bastion hijinks. waauughh please kairi my good friend kairi. liek. what we’ve seen of kairi in the pilot was already awesome. kh2 hadn’t even come out but the energy has always been there guys. she wants to take an active role and she hates sitting back!! love that the pilot wanted to give you a glimpse of this by having her kick a damn shadow in the faceee!!! you will always be famous forever kairi god bless.
my good friends donald and goofy. wtf did nomura do to you. one liek = preyer for teh toons /silly. yeah so liked how their fighting was actually toony in the pilot. goofy literally beating all the heartless while knocked out and donald getting messed with by a shadow like a typical donald short is just perfect (THINKS REAL HARD ABOUT HOUSE OF MOUSE.) and ofc!! the heart’s there too!! donald and goofy are so sweet to sora!! THEYRE HIS DADS. they’ve done playful ribbing to sora in the games, and thats not exactly a bad thing.. but sometimes i feel like it gets TOO MUCH. ESPECIALLY IN KH3 GOOD LORD. donald and goofy are sweet. yes donald. hes only gets mad because people mess with him. if you’re nice to him hes super sweet. some playful teasing from donald is okay, but too mean or too much and then its not him. mickey has a pretty minor appearance in kh1 unfortunately but omfg. if i rant about how nomura writes him then we’d be here for a while. the real mickey would not have left aqua in the realm of darkness. just know this, okay? idgaf if you don’t believe me.
it’s confirmed maleficent possessed riku in that scene. you know the one. someone said riku was lying.. NUMBER ONE. his eyes turned completely white and idk about you but thats liek. the textbook sign of being fucking possessed. riku didnt know wtf was going on!! just just grabbed the lamp and suddenly things happened! im sure it was supposed to be interpretive, yes, but the dialogue and visuals suggested possession and also kearsley confirmed it himself on deviantart. (you can search it up yourself) NUMBER TWO. maleficent asks riku if sora believed him. implying that she wants to use riku to manipulate sora. imagine if she used this possession again, in more subtle ways. riku sounds like a sopping wet sad cat too, whatever he does anyway is just so that he can get everything back to normal and undo his mistakes. maleficent doing MORE active villainy would’ve been. SO GOOD. god bless.
oh wait this is the part where i start talking about ansem huh? teeheeeee weheheheee. yo imagine if he was in house of mouse. OKAY THATS NOT A JOKE BUT THIS ISNT SUPPOSED TO BE WHAT THIS PART WAS ABOUT. ERM. i just hope he would’ve still been voiced by billy zane thats all ask for. in this awesome alternate timeline where the cartoon wasn’t cancelled. i think ansem was perfect in kh1 i dont think they needed to add or change anything really.

animal: bluebird this bluebird that yes the birdie is his symbolic representative but this man is a SHEEP. SHEEP BOY. he bleats and has some crazy woolworks going on. there is even a cnstars (?) sticker of ram!mugi ok just trust the vision
food: pancakes are simple, easy, warm, and very... innocent? it evokes your inner child something like that. it's something mugi would like and have some sentimental connection to, somehow, or at least i imagine it to be that way
object: cheap-ish books! secondhand books! i think mugi would be a purveyor of popular and genre lit. i know he's canonically a fan of historical lit but i can also see him being the type to just pick up a random book and get into it. anything goes bookworm, and it's pretty economical, very down to earth to visualize lol
aesthetic: yes it's for the prep/ivy style but also imagine the suits and pretty dresses?! my femstars mugi always gets 40s/50s fashion cos i love how it fits her lol especially almost pin-up/hyperfem outfits they're so coy so fun on her! mugi's a very comfy cozy type of person but in a nice suit i think he'd look dashing. he's already kind of the gentle older guy type in switch isn't he? let mugi be more ikemen 2k24

A'ight
Me and Spector_Author went to go see Rise of the Beasts and ho boy do we have words on it. Spoilers under the cut below (fair warning it's long).
First off, instead of the regular seats we accidentally bought the 4D tickets. 4D differs from 3d that on top of the glasses and pop-out effects you get smell-o-vision and your chair moves.
So I gotta say, because I have the body mass of a single dried out skeleton, seeing Optimus Primal and Optimus Prime fighting with explosions is a lot more visceral white knuckled gripping the seat handles trying not get launched forward and smash your face on the floor. I was legit bracing myself for every action scene.
But good times were had.
Alright, Spoilers. Spector_Authors writing this one. Fair warning point form because we both had ADHD and pinball from subject to subject.
This is long.
We both liked the pacing of the movie, both Prime and Primal had their character arcs balanced with each other we though, while Mirage and Noah were the backbone arcs.
Mirage was totally meant to be Jazz and we are okay with this.
Little disappointed Nightbird talked, however briefly, but all in she was pretty neat. The glowing double katanas are perfect.
More weapons should glow.
Spent all of the movie not knowing Battletraps name, but love the way he used the tow lines of his alt mode.
We need more alt-mode chases and alt-mode battles like that.
Wheeljack. Look what they did to my mans, they gave him sUsPeNdErS. There was no need for him to have such a drastic redesign, it added nothing to the plot, and in fact took away from continuity with the Bumblebee movie because he had a full fledged good design in that.
But maybe they wanted to show new planet, new look, then just augment the old one. He can still have the colour change of white to brown, still have a pair of suspenders and glasses slapped on, a face too? Sure, just have retract his battle mask when he meets up with Prime. The helms fins? They were there, but only for a microsecond or a few frames in the battle scene.
The battle scene, why would you bring in the gadget and explosive character if he doesn't use explosions or gadgets??
The battle scene was also pretty amazing. I got chills at "Maximize!" never have I wanted to hear that yelled so badly before. Like damn.
I would have loved a tiny bit more interaction between the Maximals and Autobots, I don't recall hearing Cheetor or Rhinox talk other than the big meet up scene. Even just a passing word in the background, maybe a supporting word on the plan to take down the warp gate, heck even small talk with Stratosphere (I think he's great too)
(Spector_Author) I refuse to gush/rant on the subspace and mass shifting needed for the Mirage suit.
The Gi Joe thing, the Gi Joe thing. Whhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyy. When the scene started I thought it was a dumb attempt to tie it to the Bayverse, but then he flipped the car and it was shoved in your face GI JOE. And I get why they did it, relaunch it and see if it works better than the last one, but why did they do it like that. Subtly is the best ways to build hype, when its panning over the laboratory floor with the technicians and mechanics, just have the Joe logo on the wall or something. Let the fans work it out for themselves.
That aside, this means that they have to bring Starscream and Cobra Commander together in a live action film.
More on the pacing of film, we both think they did pretty well at putting quips in the script without it feeling forced. humor wasn't used to break tension every single time, the chosen times used often balanced out with action scenes (Like the underground city part)
A lot of the scenes and tropes/themes (Wrong words but idk what else) you could see coming and yes they were a bit corny and campy but in the best way possible. You could see them coming and you were excited for it and cheered when it actually happened.
This visuals were great too, from the settings to the CGI to the costumes with the extras. Just Mmm. The hologram ability was great and very near to my (Spector's) heart, the car chase with it was amazing. And the little scuttle creatures the Scourge releases give the heebie jebbies. The fur effects on the Maximals. Ahhhhhh! And the tumble down the hills in peru? Using the setting for plot devices?
I really like Noah/Mirage dynamic, very Tracks/Raoul and close to my heart, I think it could have been balanced more with showing Elena's talking with either Aziazor or Arcee, I felt like she got shoved to side quite a bit. (I really did like her character and motivation tho)
We had such a good time.

Probably just coz it’s the middle of the night and I didn’t sleep last night either but I un-why-lamped myself on accident and I feel I must remove my clown nose, hang up the rainbow wig, so to speak. I no longer see a viable path forward for irl canon buddie 😔 the caveat of course is that I would love to be proven wrong, and I’m not about to be shoving these opinions on other people, but I gotta get them outta my head.
tbh I was brought into this show by ppl who fully believe(d) in canon buddie so I was eventually convinced to hop into the clown car w them. Idk if they’re still in there or not but it doesn’t much matter. I can be genuinely rooting for the honk honk crew and also acknowledge when I feel like the probability is no longer on our side.
I just I think I got so sleep deprived it made me a little high/delirious to the point where I accidentally tripped and fell into a General Audiences view of buck and Eddie and suddenly everything seemed like there was a totally obvious no homo rationale behind it. Granted, up until 6.18 I think the potential was still there, truly, but the way they ended s6 was a little too firm for me to believe they would still be able to lead a GA member down the path to canon buddie. The fact is that they needed to plant some explicit (by which I mean literally said with words or implied so strongly that there is no possible way a generic viewer would be able to take it another way) evidence that either one of them has ever in the past had attraction to other men or is currently reconsidering their approach. As simplistic and reductive as it feels for me, a certified Advanced Internet Queer, I do also think it is necessary to lead GA by the hand with something like that. And I think they’ve pretty much missed their chance.
I have yet to mention at all any thoughts about why this may have happened or what intentionality may currently or previously be present at any level of production of the show. That’s a whole other bag of worms and I have plenty of speculative thoughts but I’ll touch on that at the end if I get to it.
Like I just. I just suddenly saw a vision of a GA watching it and going: ah yes Buck has wanted to be a dad since s1e1 so he made friends with Eddie who already was a dad but didn’t have a partner so he had a slot open for a bff, so he taught Buck a little more about being a dad the same way Abby taught Buck about being a partner. The will scene was just Eddie making it explicit that he recognizes how buck has evolved into a dad-worthy character so he can be a back up dad. Eddie’s panic attacks? Not leading to something interesting about comphet, no it was legit just about Shannon, who is now his high school gf he knocked up at 18. The couch thing? Not that deep, just a fun visual to remind ppl that buck needs a good couch that he picks for himself/with his next partner (not rushed into it or picked for him by a well meaning but out of touch family member). And it shows up at Eddie’s house bc he heard about it from buck and is also feeling the need for a partner in his house. Even “you two have an adorable son” was given exclusively to Buck to cue his brain to think about how he does actually enjoy being seen as a dad and would like to have a son someday maybe, like it’s just for him to actualize that as a concrete goal for the future. Plus the thing w Natalia they seem to be setting up to be pretty serious, given that they tried to run her off with his most offensive exes, and then made her be present for an emergency helps her see a little more of the reality of his job, and particularly with it being for the birth of a baby, AND her recognizing the way he looked at the baby and THEN saying “hey I like you let’s smooch” like…they legit set her up to actually see his major drama and his life/partner goals BEFORE they start aiming towards anything serious. So like yeah it never seemed like Taylor was gonna want kids but if Natalia didn’t want kids she wouldn’t have led him on AFTER watching him deliver a baby. Idk I just feel like they actually set Natalia up pretty well to be a decent match for Buck if that’s where they wanted to go. And same w Marisol to a much lesser degree obvs.
Idk I’m hella sleep deprived and can’t think of anymore of my “gotcha” buddie moments but like. EYE don’t see/interpret things this way, *but* I suddenly was able to understand how someone could pay close attention and still legit fail to spot the buddie of it all without being malicious.
And that plus the changing political climate and the writers strike make me think that it’s just not worth the risk like it may once have been, idk. Idk it sucks lol I don’t enjoy this, and I do feel like there are some episodes where the queer subtext is very strong so like maybe that WAS the goal at some point or some writers/directors managed to get more subtext in, like supernatural stylez lol idfk there’s no way of ever knowing that unless they say so, so idk

Some fandom confessions/takes in no particular order! One of my oldest Silm hc's, since the first time I read the book, is that the Noldor are Chinese because little child me just went 'Oh? Dark-haired clever people from an ancient civilization who craft marvellous inventions and who are constantly ready to throw down over anything? Yeah, that sounds like us!' I'm not a fan of "Tom Bombadil was secretly X all along," I think the character concept works precisely because of the mystery and the way he represents a connection to something older than the figures and events of Middle-earth history, a relationship with the very land itself. Boromir and Frodo are both gay and ace, to me <3 While i don't think it's a defining factor in their dynamic, I like to think that Denethor had a wee bit of a hatecrush on Aragorn when they were both young men in Gondor, which Aragorn picked up on but never did anything with. My (definitely hot) take on the Silmarils is that the House of Fëanor's property rights to the jewels does not give them carte blanche in perpetuity to violate the basic rights of everyone else, and that furthermore the oath never attempts to give them that justification, it's just a declaration of intent and premeditation. I love the hc that Thranduil is someone with a visual impairment but I like to further hc that it's not from an injury but rather he was born with low vision.

i thought about the surgery thing. it was mentioned that tachihara was given less than the others due to his nature as a spy, but im not sure if he can survive or not. if worst comes to worst, im sure he could get the surgery files and have a more private doctor do it. i admit that i haven't thought enough about it, i just kind of assumed tachihara would be fine or somehow find another solution
ALSO YES YES OMG DAZAI AND JOUNO BONDINF!! j feel like the parallels between their pasts would cause some tension at first though. in my mind jouno probably avoids his past like the plague, while dazai embraces it as a part of him or whatever. maybe they intimidate each other at first and then come to realise that they're not threats & actually have a bit in common.
also this doesn't relate to the whole topic but i really desperately want to see tachihara and jouno bond over blindness. like.. as someone that's been losing my vision my whole life, it can be very scary + tachihara's wound was due to a traumatic and severe injury, not just a disease. jouno and tachi seem to be fairly close, from what i barely remember of season 4 and i think this could bring them closer, mafia aside.
also, ranpo and tecchou are very autistic coded. i feel like their autism would clash personally. like in my mind ranpo has very visual stims but tecchou is sensitive to the light. i don't think it'd be a huge deal, they'd just learn to leave each other be when clashes happen.. but i can also see them growing close too.
ALSO YES TECCHOU AND KENJI MENTORSHIP/FRIENDSHIP. tecchou is definitely a big brother figure imo like i think he'd be great at taking care of people. not in huge gestures but in little ways like bringing them stuff that reminds him of them or minor acts of service. and kenji very much seems like a family oriented type of person.

good note on the surgery thing for tachihara!! i didn’t know or didn’t remember hearing that, but it clears it up. possibly there are similar doctors within the mafia as well.
one slightly brutal thought i’ve had before is if something happens to the hunting dogs doctor. they’d be easier to attack than the hunting dogs themself and if they died all of the hunting dogs would slowly have to rot to death. what a vile and awful death to face. ive thought about writing this before but it also makes me a bit sad to think about.
jouno and dazai bonding would be really nice to see. i feel that their senses of morality and justice are vastly different though to the point where becoming close would be hard for the two. with that in mind they could make an interesting combination when it comes to discussing pasts. i fully agree with what you said about jouno hiding the past whereas dazai appreciates his.
and about jouno and tachi i truly hope they do that as well. i have a feeling they’re going to use the vampiric ability to heal his eyes or use yosano but i hope instead they have jouno help him adjust to learning to live without sight. it’s always good to have representation of disabilities in media. i think jouno thinks fondly of tachihara, he addressed him in a friendly manner when they reunited in S4. i would love to see more interactions
I GET YOU with the autism part as well. i feel like they would clash a lot just due to being very different in symptom display. id love to see them talk about how confusing people can be together, i feel that would help them get each other a bit. i glad you see the tetchou autism hc as well!!!

wait omg i love the idea of each of harry’s albums being represented by an element! i had never thought about it before but it makes so much sense! esp when seeing you & that anon explain why hs3 is air…the pieces really do all fit together
may i ask why you assigned hs1 earth and hs2 water? i always love your thought processes on these types of things! i definitely agree w both of your choices. for me hs1 just gives off an earthy vibe idk why but it does (maybe you can offer a more eloquent answer as to why haha) and then w fine line literally all of the mvs besides tpwk featured water in them. and then maybe water could be tied to the fact that the entire album is about him processing that breakup & trying to move on from it which through an elemental lens could be him essentially washing himself clean of it? also the idea that hs4 or really any of his future albums could represent fire …..um yes please! give it to me now! 😈

for sure, hs1 has this very earthy vibe - those rock and roll elements (kiwi. kiwi is earthy!), the very distinct feelings of place and time and interior spaces (the hallway, the dining table, etc), even sign of the times is something you can feel growing, you know? it's verdant. he flies in the video, but the scenery itself is very natural. and then fine line is such a "when i was drowning, that's when i could finally breathe," journey, he utilized so much water/ocean imagery in the visuals. golden is sunrise on the coast and fine line is the moon reflecting on waves. i feel like the journey from euphoric love/adoration to crushing heartbreak to rediscovery of oneself is like the ebb and flow of the tides.

The two oldest OCs, lets test my memory … time for some deep dives! Come back with me, if you will, to 2011/2012 Darby brain.
1 What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?
I often draw or at least try to visualize OCs before I can end up naming them so it's usually appearance, but Izzy's might be "story". She came first, I just don't know if the purple hair design or wanting an OC inspired by the song Rebel Girl was her first inspiration.
I definitely had A Vision with her+the song of her being kinda young/new to her bisexuality absolutely idolizing another perceived Cooler Girl, perhaps to a fault. That was Chrissy, their dynamic actually changed a lot beyond that original start tho and was no longer the case since we've really gotten to know them. (and has since never drawn Chrissy in years) I think Izzy's more of the rebel than Chrissy was, anyway.
Nate's is definitely his hair, just wanted the long hair like a lot of grunge n rocker men. (most likely Anthony RHCP specifically) It was darker than it is now, pretty much black, but I can't remember why I changed it to brown!
3 How did you choose their name?
I think they're both too old for me to remember this because I don't often spend much time contemplating OC's names. I think Izzy sounds tough but sweet though, and I'm sure that was the goal. Nathan is literally just some guys name and these were my Just A Guy normal human OCs so.. 🧍♂️ plus it had shorter nickname potential which I always like!
11 Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?
YES I'm sure they were both an iconic bi4bi couple, even when they weren't ORIGINALLY the end goal couple at the time of creating them. I'd only known they'd previously dated when creating them, but I knew ... Iconic.
19 What is your favorite fact about your OC?
Ough, this is like the most impossible question bc theres so much to enjoy about my lil guys idk what the stand out favorite thing would be, but I'll try.
I like how Izzy has always wrote lyrics for the band with Nate, even before she had the confidence to sing in front of everyone, and I like that Nate got her to a place where she was able to sing in front of everyone. :)
I also like Nate for his,,, stupid-optimism trait, he gets so confident in himself he forgets all reasoning. Like how often he climbs trees before remembering his awful fear of heights! Surely not THIS tree...! Love that for him..

Okay so first of all, this is one of the ships where I can’t fully explain why I ship you so hard with this guy but I just kept coming back to the idea of both of you in a relationship and I just had to give in and ship you with Joshua! Now on a visual sense you are both such a stunning couple? There is a sense of peace and unity visually speaking, you both just look like you were meant to be a couple. For some reason I’m getting a boy and girl next door type of love story. The fact that you are both existing at the same time and in a relationship with each other is beautiful enough. The gentlemanly nature that Joshua possesses would be on full display whenever he is around you, he isn’t a guy that falls in love quickly or just throws love at people so his love language is literally being considerate, loving and having a warm hug for you on standby 24/7.
Even if he does behave in this manner, it by no means makes your relationship boring. He is a sly dude, he has it in him to tease you and have fun in his life, but this only makes him seem more charming. Joshua isn’t possessive per say but he would really love to acknowledge that you’re by his side and not by the sides of any of the other guys who are crushing on you. And this is completely random but you bet he would love to go places just so you could take the best boyfriend photos of him and vice versa, basically he loves to feel loved by you. Both of you are just so charming individually and putting you two together creates a relationship that one could only dream of having.
The last thing which is most of the reason why I ship you is due to your visuals, you both just scream aesthetically pleasing but in a modest way. Your visuals aren’t harsh and you aren’t shoving them in each others face or the faces of those around you. This basically just sums up your relationship, you’re officially the “modestly beautiful” couple (inside and out) that people aspire to be like.
Man! I was so excited to ship you with Vernon you have no idea, and most of my happiness came from the fact that I knew that you would both treat each other right. Vernon is such a kind soul who remains genuine no matter what, I feel like this would draw the two of you towards one another. When it comes to you it would seem that Vernon has a sixth sense, he knows just how kind and honest you are and deep down he has this vision for the two of you, one where you live out a long lasting relationship and experience the happiest that life has to offer.
It would be the way in which you do anything that would catch him off guard, it’s as if admiring a pretty painting, he often announces just how lucky he is to be in your league. You heard me right, it would be THE HANSOL VERNON CHWE who feels like he may be a smidge out of your league. Its more that he loves you so much that he feels that he may fall short at any given moment, but he never does. He is honestly the boyfriend you didn’t know you needed, his love for you is so pure and genuine. I know I got a little carried away with this part but I feel like Vernon works with you not only physically but on a emotional and personality-based level. The other members would 100% love to tease him about how gushy and soft he gets for you, he even has a special smile reserved for you.
And now since this is a selca ship I will address the ship on an appearance based level. I wanted to say more about your appearance but what else can I say other than you two would make gods and goddesses alike cry. Both you and Vernon possess insanely beautiful visuals, which only becomes more apparent when the two of you are together, I’m sorry this part is so short but all I can say is: Model Material.

but no i thought it was weird and out of character for wanda to make absolutely no mention of pietro. and she did mention vision but i also thought it was weird that she didn’t talk about him re: his existence across the multiverse.
the story as a whole felt like it was spread a lil thin across all the main characters they were trying to showcase?
but i loved the horror elements. loved the gore. loved wanda’s big demon lackeys.
i liked america but i feel like they didn’t let us get to know her enough. her emotional scenes felt rushed which i really didn’t like bc they gave the white man a lot of emotional moments that just didn’t land or were a waste of screen time.
the dr strange what if episode did a lot more for me in terms of his relationship with christine than this movie did. the wedding scene was nice n angsty but i just didn’t care enough about them as a couple.
idk where all the peggy hate comes from (although i haven’t seen agent carter so if it comes from there it makes sense that i am unaware) but i liked captain carter for the five seconds she was around. we like jetpacks. very sexy that she died by her own shield.
did not like that they rained on wanda’s parade for using the darkhold but the second strange picked it up to dreamwalk he was a hero for it. that’s gross.
also did not like that strange fully disregarded the fact that he was a Villain in so many other universes but made it his entire problem that wanda was doing bad things in One universe. seemed very “but i’m a nice guy give me a chance” service-y which is also gross.
liked the evil dead nod.
LOVED seeing maria in a super suit. loved seeing her in general. did not love seeing her die.
loved the noodle death. and the "what mouth" death. very sexy.
visuals were pretty.
although yes marvel's cgi is getting out of hand but that's above my paygrade.

Where's Gojo when you need him??
I guess there's no choice but to read the manga if I don't want to spoil the whole plot before I have a chance to watch it unfold in anime.
Also, I know you love Geto, but I BLAME HIM. It's kinda ironic, in s2 Gojo was ready to massacre a whole bunch of people at one point, and Geto was the one to stop him then only to later become insane himself. Now idc, I just want Gojo to go absolutely berserk and take all these mf's heads off. Why Nanami, whyyy 😭
One more thing... You said Geto is like Eren, but in my opinion they are nothing alike. In jjk 0 (the movie) Geto behaves like a complete psycho showing no regard for human life. He enjoys torturing and killing people, he doesn't care. "Monkeys" he calls them. Eren is not like that, he's not crazy, he knows what he does is wrong and it kills him, but he is forced to do it anyway. I think that's why I can't really sympathize with Geto... He is almost as despicable as Mahito. No remorse. At least that is how he is portrayed in anime. And to add to all of this he broke Gojo's heart, because he was his one and only best friend. Even Geto's visual design went downhill after he lost his mind. I dunno, I guess I'm just mad and sad because of that spoiler that I read 😔
i actually haven't read the manga!! but, before getting into jjk, i accidentally found myself on jjk twitter (i guess i liked a bunch of fanart or something? idk) and so i've seen all of the major spoilers 😭 even up to now, i know what's going on with the major characters.
so! i know exactly what you're talking about.
i remember you saying that you've read the aot manga, but if i'm remembering incorrectly and you don't wanna get spoiled, let me know and i'll delete what i said about in here!
some jjk 0 spoilers & aot manga spoilers below
it's been a bit since i've seen jjk 0, but from what i can remember, geto doesn't kill any sorcerers, which aligns with his vision of how he wants the world to be. yes, he tries to kill yuuta, but for him, it's a necessary evil to help further his plans.
i still think geto and eren are similar at their core, but their biggest difference is how they "cope" with their decision.
geto dehumanizes non-sorcerers by calling them monkeys so that it's easier for him to wipe them out. whereas eren is emotionally destroyed by what he has to do and has remorse and guilt for his actions... but they're both still doing it for kind of the same reason?
eren is trying to kill all non-eldians because he's trying to save his friends from unnecessary death. after he sees life outside the wall, he's upset that the world allowed eldians to live with such death and horror for so long without doing anything about it.
kinda the same thing w geto. after failing the mission to save riko and then haibara dying and then finding the twins locked up.... he's literally bombarded with proof that non-sorcerers don't care about sorcerers and, in fact, non-sorcerers and their leaking cursed energy is the REASON WHY ALL OF HIS FRIENDS ARE DYING!! so he wants to kill them to save his friends
(also, geto's cursed technique of swallowing curses after exorcising them is just another form of a sacrifice made for ungrateful ppl, so it's an ongoing, painful reminder of that for geto each time he swallows a curse)
geto and gojo's morality flip is also really interesting to me. like you said, how gojo wanted to massacre all those people but geto said no. after that day, gojo works hard to become the strongest so that he doesn't fail (riko dying) like that again. where geto struggles to find meaning behind why he's a jujutsu sorcerer when non-sorcerers have such little regard for him/his friends' life (ie. the star alliance group ppl clapping when they saw riko dead).
i think that had gojo not been so focused on becoming the strongest, he probably would've been there for geto during his morality crisis. maybe gojo would've been able to save geto from "turning evil".... but also maybe geto would've "turned" gojo after talking with yuki. it's an interesting what if scenario.
also there are some things that happen in the manga that i think might change your perception of geto.
sorry if this is incoherent, this is mostly just key smashing all my geto/eren (mostly geto) thoughts ty for the opportunity to gush about my one of my favourite characters
