stilton I love all the sv fics you've been posting lately 🥺 will you be posting more in the future?
I have two multichapter SVSSS WIPs (A Wife by Any Other Name and my ongoing LOTR-inspired Bingqiu fic), and I plan to post around six more oneshots for the SVSSS Gotcha for Gaza. After that, though, my SVSSS writing days will likely come to an end! :')
I do have a Qijiu age gap AU in the works; but my (countless, at this point) MDZS projects take priority, so this one might not ever see the light of day. I've attached a few scenes below the cut, in case anyone is interested. <3
Short background: in this AU, Yue Qingyuan and Shen Jiu met when they were fifteen and five years old respectively, when YQY (then a kitchen slave) took little Shen Jiu off the streets and hid him in an abandoned wing of his master's manor. They were separated when SJ was discovered, and Yue Qingyuan was badly beaten and thrown out of the estate while Shen Jiu managed to escape and ended up being sold to the Qius a few years later. When they reunited at the Immortal Alliance Conference, YQY had been Qiong Ding's head disciple for nearly a decade and had just earned the right to accept disciples of his own, so SJ became YQY's disciple and went back to Cang Qiong with him.
Shen Jiu later realizes that he and SY!SQQ (head disciple/future peak lord of Qing Jing) are brothers; the following scenes mostly concern his relationship with Shen Yuan.
scene 1, set shortly after Shen Jiu comes to Cang Qiong and discovers that he and Shen Qingqiu are related:
This soft-eyed, fair-faced fool—he could never have lived through the trials Shen Jiu and his Qi-ge had endured, no matter how strong his cultivation, or how fine his calligraphy, or how well he swayed the hearts of men to bow to his every whim—
“Oh,” Shen Qingqiu murmurs, his voice full of such pain that Qi-ge makes a sound of distress behind him. “Of course. They must have had another child after they sold me away.”
Shen Jiu stares. “What? You were…”
“There was a drought in the second-to-last dog year, before you were born,” Shen Qingqiu says distantly, unfolding his fan and placing it over his mouth. “I was the third son, and born sickly—so when the slavers came to Jinan, they told Father that I was quick-witted and handsome enough to serve a lordling in a great house, and that I would have all the food I wanted and medicine to treat my infirmity as long as I did not make too much of a nuisance of myself. So I was sold and taken away.”
He casts a thoughtful glance at Shen Jiu’s sharp nose and smooth jaw, and then at the mole behind his left ear. “The sixth year after that was a bad year, too. You must have been sold then.”
Shen Jiu wants to tell this cheap brother of his that he had not even been sold, for the slavers had wanted nothing to do with a three-year-old infant scarcely out of babyhood. His mother was long-dead by then, and his father and the two kept brothers had resented her for bearing Shen Jiu and hated Shen Jiu for not having died before he was weaned: so there was no one to protest when his father carried him out of their shack while he slept and abandoned him in an alley a few miles away. If this heretofore-unknown third elder brother, Shen Yuan, had not been pretty enough to catch the eyes of the Jinan slavers, perhaps their father would have done the same to him.
scene 2, set about a year later, after Shen Jiu finds out that Yue Qingyuan's personal name Yue Qi is not written with the character for "seven" in CQM's sect records:
“Qi was good enough for Qi-ge.”
“Yue Qi’s name was changed when he entered the sect,” Shen Qingqiu tells him. “The Qi that Shixiong uses now comes from qi xi, for a bird resting on a perch.”
Shen Jiu turns around to stare accusingly at Yue Qinguan. “You never told me that you’d changed your name. Why did I have to find out from—from Senior Shen?”
“Ah, well,” Yue Qingyuan says awkwardly, “Shizun was the one who decided that the Qi for seven wasn’t worthy of a Qiong Ding Peak disciple, and then I became the head disciple, and my name was changed again, to Qingyuan. I haven’t signed my name with the new Qi in years. But, A-Jiu, I do think that Shidi is right; it’ll be years before you can become a head disciple, and in that time…”
“Should I use the jiu for ‘a long while,’ then?” Shen Jiu quips. “Or jiu zhi?”
Shen Qingqiu snaps his fan closed. “No. How practiced are you in the scholarly arts?”
“I do well enough,” Shen Jiu bristles. Reading, writing, and the reciting of poetry were the three subjects that came to him easily after he entered the sect; and though he had been near the bottom of the class when he first arrived, his weekly reports placed him at the top by the beginning of the second month. “Ask Qi-ge.”
“Then why not use the name Jiu’ge, after the second volume of the Chuci?” Shen Qingqiu asks. “What do you think, shixiong?”
“I think Jiu'ge is a fine name. But it’s no good if Xiao-Jiu doesn’t like it.”
Shen Jiu thinks for a moment. In truth, he had wanted Yue Qi to bestow a new name upon him, if it so happened that he needed one. He gave Shen Jiu the very first name he remembers, Xiao Lizi, after the plums that Yue Qi used to smuggle to him when he was a child in the Huang manor; but he does not entirely detest the thought of this strange elder brother, thrown away just as he was, choosing the name Shen Jiu will be known by in the future.
“It’s not bad,” he admits at last. “Very well, then. Let it be Jiu’ge.”

WIP Wednesday!
Lately I've been working most on my SVSSS fic that's basically a "What if Shen Yuan was a little older and a little more competant". That's it, that's the fic. I have zero idea where it's going to end up, but I've got two chapters worth scribbled down, so that's something! I've also got an outline for a Tangled-inspired Liushen AU that I don't want to start because once I do, I think I'll keep going until it's done and I want to get more done on the longer fic first xD
I've still got plans for the post-MLC fic I'm working on! I really should finish that, since it doesn't have anywhere to go and should just be the one chapter... Who knows. I let words get away from all the time.
I've still got a couple of FF14 WIPs too, though the MSQ follow-along will always be slow going... I do want to finish the Dark Knight fic, but my WoL was in a Not Good headspace when he started that, so it's on a back burner too.
Feel free to Ask me to work on any of these and I'll post a new paragraph~ but either way, enjoy the snippet!
The entire night passed while he read, the morning only making itself known to Shen Yuan when a knock sounded at the entrance to his room and Ming Fan’s voice announced, “Shizun, I left breakfast at the table for you. Please let this disciple know if there is anything further needed.”
“Nothing but privacy, Ming Fan. I am only to be disturbed by meals for the next three days.” While he recovers is not spoken aloud, but carried in the silence that he lets linger a moment longer than it needs to. “Unless another Peak Lord requires my presence.”
Ming Fan bowed and started to leave after confirming the instructions, but was stopped by Shen Qingqiu’s voice adding, “Perhaps I will meditate in the gardens today. If I am not here, let it be known that I am unavailable for company.”
That should cover most possibilities. He was sure Mu Qingfang wouldn’t be back by so soon, but he couldn’t say the same for anyone else. With the worry from Yue Qingyuan that Mu-shidi had mentioned or potential curiosity as to his recent visitors, anyone could come by! And he didn’t want them seeing him practicing basic sword forms like someone who’d never held a sword before.
Since that was exactly what he planned to be doing.
After breakfast of course.

primarily i've written for danmei fandoms the last few years (mdzs/cql, svsss, 2ha) but i kind of write whatever strikes my fancy! in the last year it's been xena, tristamp, bad buddy...just kinda whatever...i used to write for supernatural and merlin
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
a turn of the earth (supernatural, deancas)

honestly probably something from the early supernatural days. i was obsessed with writing angst as a teenager
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
all of my wangxian fics end happy!! i don't think any one is happier than the other because it usually ends up with them either in love or married :-)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
every so often! luckily the positivity tends to outweigh
9. Do you write smut?
yes! although this was something i had to work on getting more comfortable with throughout my 20s
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you have written?
the only thing closest to a crossover i've done was two alternate wangxian timelines in "a tide in two seas," but otherwise nope!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
a few times! if not verbatim plagiarism, then definitely have had entire original concepts/plots lifted & reused that are very identifiable lol
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes!! most commonly into spanish and russian, but have also had some translated into mandarin and farsi which is super cool!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
not formally!
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
i have love for a lot of pairings but wangxian definitely ate my brain the most and for longest.....and there they remain
15. What is a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
hmmmm....i was about 20k into a giant merthur fix-it time travel fic in like 2018 and gave up on it and i'll never finish it but wish i had!
16. What are your writing strengths?
i've been told i have a nice turn of phrase!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
describing setting.......action sequences.......those are the two i most actively have to work at to make them sound normal and integrated with the rest of the prose lol. i think i can also fall into the trap of gratuitous overdescription pretty easily
18. Thoughts of writing dialogue in another language in fics?
i think it depends on the context but can be really effective if it's done correctly and respectfully! (if you're a non-native speaker, that is)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
honestly it was warrior cats. followed by twilight fanfiction i submitted to a local newspaper
20. Favorite fic you have written?
i tend to be more critical of past fics than not, but there are quite a few i'm fond of because i admittedly write to my own tastes but i'm especially fond of "make me whole, make me new," which is wlw wangxian!

Reader name now please :)) /j that's insane tho, I've read TGCF and SVSSS, and I've recently started reading MDZS. SVSSS is my favorite tho, but Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's works are amazing omgomg– There's very little content of them here on tumblr so it was like a blessing (no pun intended) when I saw you upload content for it!! You never cease to surprise me that's for sure /t /pos
I know damn well that I'd worship him so much that I'll challenge Hua Cheng 🛐🛐 I wanna cherish him and love him loads n loads– and even when you don't remember him, everytime you see him again you can't help but feel a tug towards him, a need, a crave,, and it drives you crazy, but when you find out he feels the same you can help but be blissfully happy about it. So many. Too many. At the moment, mainly cdrama related ones, with Nirvana in Fire being my most prolific fandom.

I was moderately popular in the Witcher fandom, so a lot of these aren't very representative of what I'm writing atm
Shining, (The Witcher) in which Jaskier is, unbeknownst to him, a dragon. Simmering, Mourning, and Vibing (from the same series) are respectively second, third, and fifth on the list, so I'm discounting them (and other works in the series in the top-kudos-ed) on the ground it would be boring if it was just this series.
Haunted and Haunting (The Umbrella Academy), in which Klaus died age 13 and spends his afterlife looking after his siblings.
Shang Qinghua’s testimonial to why you should NEVER TRY TO CHANGE THE PLOT [System, help!!], (SVSSS), in which Shang Qinghua tries to a slight plot change and ends up with a husband
Barmecide, (The Umbrella Academy), in which all of the Hargreeve siblings die except Klaus, and it's only after death they start to bond
On Reflection (SVSSS), in which the author shoves the characters into a small, enclosed space and makes them talk about their feelings

I try to! Mainly because it's so lovely that people leave me comments that I want to also interact with them and thank them? The only exceptions are if I don't really know how to reply to them, if they're a bit mean, or if they've left a thank you on every chapter of a fic (beloved!!!) in which case I'll reply to the last comment
6) What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
erm... I have no idea. Probably one of the NiF ones. Lin Chen tends to suffer a lot at my hands.

I also have no idea. Like I've definitely written fluffy ones! but how to quantify what's the happiest??

a couple of times, but I either ignore or block. Thankfully not habitually

I don't, I tend to be a 'fades to black' kind of author

So many crossovers. I think the craziest might be 'Percival from Merlin switches bodies with Luther Hargreeves from the Umbrella Academy'

Yes!!!
A Russian translation of Plausible Deniability (the Magicians), a Chinese translation of Shining (The Witcher), a Russian translation of tho' it were ten thousand miles (SVSSS), and a Russian translation of you could cut ties with all the lies (that you've been living in) (NiF)
That's so many words of translation and I am amazed that people have done it!

So many co-written fics. Mainly with @thebansacredbanned and a couple with @luzzeagain

This 100% changes all the time, but probably my favourite it Mei Changsu/Lin Chen/Jingyan, where Jingyan sometimes represents justice.
15) What's a wip that you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Hoarding or Barmecide, both of which have wonderful readers but are different from what I've been writing in the past few years. I will get back to them! One day...

hmm depends. Maybe characterisation? especially in Nif? Dialogue perhaps
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
I don't know how 'pretty' my writing is tbh... and also I have a propensity to plan these huge epic AUs that I then don't have enough time to finish writing (since they tend to be for exchanges)
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I've done it! I think you need to either be fluent in the language of know someone who is and is happy to beta. not against it, but I think it needs to be done respectfully and not using google translate
19) First fandom you wrote for?
...it was possible the Bible. I wrote a poem about god... Discounting that, I think supernatural or Dr Who. It was possible a SPN/DW crossover.
If we're counting unposted ones, then I handwrote a Star Wars fic when I was like 8. Make it into a little book and drew the cover myself! ...it's never going to see the light of day

The LiuJiu brainrot is soooo bad.
I've devoured about any and all angsty, heartbreaking but also wholesome fics there are for this pairing but I crave more!
I can't explain it.
There's just something about reading about Shen Jiu's silent struggles as a disciple (and later as a peak lord), while (not) dealing with his own trauma and PTSD, and even though he's done nothing much to warrant it (not anything more or less than other people and given the moral/rule set-up of the story world), being constantly misunderstood and bullied and badmouthed by his peers that should be family and have his back or be more willing to get to know him and the truth of him before spreading falsehoods...
And in the meantime SJ/SQQ is still giving his all to the sect and maybe even trying to be better and appear less hostile or just deep down wants and wishes for someone to truly see and understand him...
And then we have LQQ who realizes somehow, either on a mission or in the Linxi Cave or through some other situation where SQQ steps in to help and save him or something other about his past or true character is revealed, that SJ is not the scum LQG was led to believe he was, and that LQQ got it all wrong, leading them to slowly reconcile as LQG owns up to his bad past bevaviour towards SJ and becomes compeltely whipped for him.
Well, this is the happy version of alternative fics I crave.
But I actually like it even more if everything remains unresolved: SQQ continues to suffer, especially by the hands of LQG although he wishes them to make up, and eventually dies, and LQQ only later learns the truth (some of it at least)...
Or my new brainrot of agony is, imagining SJ's soul never quite left after the transmigration happens, so he pays witness to how everyone grows to like SY as SQQ, and he can't help but feel pained, more so when even YQY and LQQ don't notice anything amiss...
How heartbreaking is that?! Watching an imposter get everything you always silently wanted or longed for (but also doing something that makes you hate and detest them for defiling his body in such a way -> getting together with LBG)
I just love thinking about SJ's thoughts watching the events of SVSSS unfurl. It sure would be one anxious angsty painful soliloquy...
But also imagine LQG notices something is amiss and knows that this is no longer SJ and he despairs, longing for his shixiong and wishing him back and even tries to somehow find his soul and bring it back, while SJ is hovering around him as a ghost, trying to reach out but unable to...
So much angst and heartbreak potential! I might actually write something with that premise.
But it would also just be nice to read it. I need more angsty painful LiuJiu fics. Call me deranged and sick, but I crave these fics like fine chocolate.

Thank you everyone who has been here this past month, leaving kudos and commenting!
It's been an amazing experience yet again, and I feel I have grown more comfortable with myself and my writing again. Before this month, there are many things I would've never seen myself write (like f/f, certain ships and crossovers, or certain fic formats), and I feel like I've also managed to strike a much better balance in the amount of works I wrote for each of MXTX's novels this time around (there's certainly more SVSSS than last time XD)
I hope everyone else had as much fun reading these as I did writing them, no matter how much I bitched about some of these, and I hope to see you all again next year, whatever the prompts may be! ♥♥♥

I don't currently, bc I've gotten more self conscious as my writing improves, but I have in the past! Mostly trans sex earlier on, and wilder stuff is some watersports, emeto, and an unpublished woundfucking fic 🥴

I haven't in a minute, but in another life (read when I was 13) I started writing a Naruto/Devil May Cry crossover that never went anywhere.

kinktober 2023: request fics from me!
I've seen a few prompt lists that looked pretty good, but I'm deciding to just make my own prompt list because this way if you make a request, you already know it's something I'm interested in potentially writing about

If you don't mind me asking, who are your favorite “villains” (or antagonists) in all of MXTX novels? (Whether you want to do a ranking or just write out in no particular order)...Sorry if you've answered this question before....Thanks....
part of me wants to do a full ranking but I feel like that's the devil talking. so I'll just name off some of my favorites.
Su Minshan is the obvious one, because he's basically taking THREE types of character i usually like a lot (villain with Failed/Gone Wrong Hero vibes; sneaky cursing & poisoning bastard energy; devoted subordinate of other villain I like) and combining them into one package.
Jin Guangyao is a close followup, tho. I'm also a huge fan of villains with incongruous personalities to their main role in the story, and appreciate that he's a genuinely well done 'villain with some good points'--genuine good balanced against genuine bad, and a lot of crunchy neutral and gray stuff in between. Also it's so common to have villains that are trying to get High In Society look down on or plan to discard of any villainous connections they have, but JGY eschews that to have genuine relationships with both XY and SMS. we stan.
...Fuck I'm gonna have to put Xue Yang third. MDZS just knocked it out of the park with its villains for me, lol. I've mentioned in the past that I've been very fond of 'slightly childish ~crazy~ murderer' character types in the past and were always disappointed with how little depth they had, so XY is a gift in that way. And every other way. The Yi City arc is one of the, if not the, best MXTX subplot of all time, and it couldn't be the way it is without XY.
Tianlang-Jun and Zhuzhi-Lang from SVSSS are right up there as well, just because they're so entertaining. A friend described Zhuzhi-Lang as being like a fairy that decides it owes you a favor so it keeps trying to help you out, but it just does it in the worst and most unhelpful ways possible. Tianlang-jun is just... such a creep, but in such a straightforward way it's hilarious instead of offputting (him dragging up a chair to (presumably) watch SQQ and ZZL fuck is one of my top funny moments from SVSSS as a whole) and both of them have an entertaining Blue and Orange Morality vibe to them I enjoy. Not to mention ZZL's extra chapters killed me emotionally 😢
Aand last but not least, can we call the Three Tumors villains? I feel like at least Ling Wen can count as an antagonist, considering that she acts as one for a chunk of the book. Ling Wen, and Shi Wudu if we can stretch the definition. (I feel like General Pei, with his extremely tenuous Token Good Teammate qualities, doesn't quite make the grade but rest assured I love him too). I just *points at top of list* love horrible people that care about each other! The truest of friendship is knowing where each other's bodies are buried, metaphorically, and Pei Ming and Ling Wen both reacting in a way that indicates they KNOW about the He Xuan business really speaks to the depth of theirs. Shi Wudu kind of hits me where it hurts as someone who came from a bad family and got out with one sibling, and Ling Wen just. Has my heart. 10/10 would bring her tea every morning and never ask about her murky past.

1. You Don't Dare (You Say Love Is A Hell You Cannot Bear)
Merlin BBC. This is my Febuwhump fic. I'm basically done with it, so it's not super a wip, but I'm still going through and editing and might write more for it. Chapter 1 will be posted on uhh this Sunday, I believe.
It's Arthur pov. Set in early season 1. Sleeping Beauty themed events, minus any romance and more focused on Arthur's insecurity.
2. box
another Merlin BBC febuwhump fic, however I don't think I'll be finishing it in time. Merlin pov.
Basically Merlin hits his head and gets a teensy weensy bit held hostage.
3. somehow a SVSSS amnesia fic??
SVSSS. Okay I started writing it as a personal joke! But you know what, I might end up going for it.
So it's a canon divergence - a what if Shen Yuan really did have amnesia from the start type of plot when he wakes up. It's third person narrator, however it's heavily focused of the disciples (Ming Fan especially) losing their minds over this
4. Damian training?
DC. Damian pov. Set before he arrives at Gotham. (Maybe will add a chapter for after too??) A slight compare and contrast of what Damian's learned to be true and what is true, but mostly just a small outtake of a possible training scene.
5. The fabrication of the story is where divergent truths emerge
The Untamed. So this one is probably never going to see the light of day bc it's a massive project and I'm terrible at keeping track of timelines! especially in alternate canons where changing the timeline can have a huge ripple effect.
It's basically a canon divergence (set in the short span of post Core Transfer but pre Yiling Laozu) where Jiang Cheng politically, platonically marries Wei Wuxian to save him. No, really.
Political shenanigans ensue. Jiang Cheng, Wei Ying, and Jiang Yanli protect each other through it.
Somehow I think Lan Zhan suffers the most in this; but somehow incredulously Jin Zixuan is a close second.
(Yes this is Wei Wuxian/Lan Wangji endgame.)
No clue who the main pov (bc all I have is the title and a very bad outline) but I suspect it'd be Jiang Cheng with the occasional WWX scene and one Jin Zixuan scene.
But I really do love the title for this actually. I think it sums up the future "misunderstandings" tag very well.
6. Clark Kent pov of Brucie Wayne and his new ward Dick Grayson
DC. So this one is mostly a practice run to see if I liked writing Clark's pov. So far, I'm not impressed with my characterization of him; which makes me delay working on it bc it doesn't vibe right yet to me.
Characterization is something I try hard to get how I want. It's usually not canon characterization, exactly, but I like to try and make characters feel like a real version of themself. So far, this Clark is very... imitation feeling.
Anyways, it's basically just a bunch of reporters at a press conference about Dick and Clark idly musing over it as he does his job.
7. chronic pain + chronic illness Eddie Brock
Venom. This one has been a long time coming. I had originally wanted to do this idea for Big Spoon, You Have So Much To Do but in order to make that one manageable to write, I didn't touch upon the idea of chronic pain+illness Eddie and focused more on figuring out boundaries involved when sharing a body.
So the original concept was far more serious in tone than the one scene I've now got drafted out so far. But it's basically at the core the same premise. Just... funnier and more light-hearted. We'll see how it goes! Who knows, maybe as I write it, it'll get heavier again. Either way is fine with me.
8. They'll speak of me (oh in whispered tones) and say my name like it shakes their bones
Merlin BBC again. Been shaking out the old cobwebs lately of fic ideas I used to have. Morgana pov. It's more of a character study warm up, like the Clark Kent wip. I have written Morgana before, but I've fallen out of practice in her vocal tics and characterization, and I wanted to spend a fic trying to to recapture that feeling of writing her again.
Plus, I really, really wanted to write a fic with these lyrics as a title. And Morgana suits them well.
Feel like I'm forgetting a bunch since I always just have a wide ongoing shuffle of wips I bounce around from.

I've been thinking about this lately and like, a very valid interpretation of the PIDW world is that the universe is generally more reliant on sex, i.e. dual cultivation being a general cure-all for a lot of things.
My headcanon though is that the world actually operates mostly normally for a xianxia setting and it's just that Luo Binghe is the Spiders Georg of sex related plots/shenanigans.
SY!Shen Qingqiu is probably convinced that it's the first option though because post canon any harem-related plot lines tend to fall on him.

So I’m rereading the Airplane extras (Part 4, Lily (BC Novels) translation) and:
Ever since then, perhaps because protecting one’s master was meritorious and he had demonstrated his good intentions, his wages, material benefits, treatment, and whatnot had all improved, and he was permitted to return to Cang Qiong Mountain and look around his old home.
Especially now, his benefits weren’t bad, his salary wasn’t bad.
So Shang Qinghua is canonically Mobei-jun’s paid employee, and even though I was vaguely aware of this it’s still cracking me up.
Like, what kind of benefits does he get? Does he get a regular paycheck or does Mobei-jun just show up with money to give him every so often? Is there an employee file on him somewhere?
I have so many questions.

Throwing an idea here because I’ve been reading too much Scum Villain fanfiction lately:
AU where Shen Jiu (so the original Shen Qingqiu) somehow ends up in the right place at the right time so he runs into Su Xiyan who is heavily pregnant and has just escaped Huan Hua palace. He knows her, because he would’ve at least met her in passing, but maybe she saved his life on a night hunt years before so he can’t just leave her like that.
He can’t save her, because it’s as much as she can do to keep her child alive long enough to bring him into the world and seal his demon heritage. He pays for her burial and takes the child with him, still naming him Binghe after the river he was born by.
Shen Jiu is not a kind man, and part of him was tempted to leave the child to be raised somewhere else. But he balks at leaving Binghe in the care of strangers, knowing all too well how cruel and careless people can be. He owed it to Su Xiyan to see that her child was safe, at least.
So he takes Binghe back to Cang Qiong and never outright says that Binghe is his son but lets them assume. Binghe becomes Shen Binghe and his father isn’t a kind man, but he grows up safe, at least.
Shang Qinghua ends up being the one to push Binghe into the Endless Abyss, and Shen Jiu never forgives him for that.

You know, I think at least for me part of why Word of Honor resonates so much (aside from just being really good storytelling and acting) is that the story starts with two main characters who are both in their thirties and are just completely done with the world, and especially after this year I’m just like yeah, same.
But the story doesn’t end there, it doesn’t end with Zhou Zishu’s nails or Wen Kexing going out in a blaze of vengeance. The story says no, there are still things worth living for, not everything is lost. Not everything can be saved, but it’s still worth it to keep going.

Thinking about Lan Sizhui being just like, slightly haunted at all times.
Like not in a bad way, necessarily, but he seems to pick up harmless ghosts and spirits no matter what anyone at the Cloud Recess does. They don't seem to do much, just stick around for a few days and then go their own ways.
And then he's on a night hunt and loses his sword, but before the monster can get him it's thrown across the clearing. No one can figure out what happened, but there seems to be a stronger presence of spirits around him than usual.
He doesn't realize it yet, but he was a child of the Burial Mounds, and the dead remember their own.
