Hey guys!! Today we have a synastry aspect post! I just so happen to be looking at my synastry charts. I took notice to asteroids in particular & things started to make sense. Ex: ( I'm Neptune person with this person and my Neptune is in 7th house and their pof is in 12th house!! This explain alot to me because everytime we come in contact with one another we talk about spiritual topics. I had dreams about them and a they held a large meaning & are prophetic. a/n: King of My Heart was supposed to be mainly a "normal" series, not much Social Media content, and though I like doing those chapters they limit my imagination at some point. So I decided to mix it, I'm going to alternate chapters, and we are gonna have the best of both worlds (or so I hope), seeing people react to Y/n and Mick's relationship but also having a privileged seat to watch their interactions and feelings unfold. This chapter is when their first interaction happened, a bit before the first chapter of the series. I hope you guys like it <3 let me know your thoughts and opinions.

Summary: Mick Schumacher rode a lousy wave for quite some time, so when the sky gets cleaner and the sun brighter he just knows something terrible may be in store for him. Whereas y/n was just so magnetic, and the possibilities of life with her seemed better than anything his mind could ever create, that's why, for the first time in forever, he throws cautious carelessly through the window, hoping to get to the finish line before it catches up on him.

When Mick saw Y/n for the first time, he was curious and speechless, both things that are involved in the process of blooming love. He had no idea at the time, though in his head, maybe he was just excited to be in a new environment, a place that would embrace him, teach him, and accept him for who he was, not for his father's legacy, or an expectation based on a remote reality.

When she entered the room, he knew people kept talking, working, and breathing, yet he had no idea how because for him, it was different, it was the first time he saw her, and she was suddenly the center of his attention. Big brown eyes stared around everything, nut-brown hair around her head like a halo, full lips, a round nose, and brown skin. Y/n was breathtaking, and he only noticed he was holding his when a friend touched his shoulder. Mick directed his gaze to Lewis for a split second, and he felt lucky he, too, was looking at her. Otherwise, the Mercedes driver would likely see the weird way in which his friend seemed lost. And, of course, his coworker was looking at her too. Who would not want to look at her? They had to be crazy not to. If given the opportunity, Mick would stare at that woman the whole day, and he did not even know her name. So, yes, in his mind, it could only be explained as a curiosity. Although he comprehended very well what kind of curiosity it was and that, he had never really felt that, quite the opposite, he was usually doing his own thing and minding his business, and new people were welcome. And he was friendly, but he was not the type of person to seek someone’s attention or friendship, at least not so fast, not so intently. Y/n was not only a new person, but she was the bearer of new and strange feelings in the pit of Mick’s stomach.

“Oh, she’s so sly, you see. She comes and goes around without people noticing. It scares me sometimes,” Hamilton spoke, smiling in her direction. Mick thought: how could she come and go unnoticed? The second the door opened, he could not take his eyes off her.

“It’s a matter of practice,” she replied with a small grin. The way her lips folded looked almost artistic, like the final brushstroke in a work of art, when everything seems to fit together to create the final result, the bigger picture, “Now, how’s my favorite brother doing?”

Mick did not even notice the way he finally took a breath of fresh air. She was not his friend’s girlfriend, although Mick did not know if her being his sister would make things any easier.

“I’m your only brother Y/n,” Lewis reminded, and she huffed as if he was pointing out something unnecessary.

“You can be my only and favorite brother, both things at the same time. Stop being so pokey,” she joked.

“Mick, this is Y/n, my baby sister,” he turned to Mick, who was able to recompose in seconds. He was a driver after all, he had to be fast and have good reflexes, “Y/n, this is Mick, my friend and work colleague.”

“Nice to meet you, Mick” She waved and made her grin wider, in fact, when their eyes met, her lips opened in a full big smile. It felt like watching a flower blossom, and it also felt like a gesture only for him.

“Likewise, Y/n.”

“I’ve heard you’re new around Mercedes. Welcome to the family.”

“Feels like it indeed,” he grinned, “A family, I mean.”

“It’s good to hear that. God knows this whole thing can be tough. You don’t need to have people making it worse,” she pointed, and that was all it took for Mick to know that Y/n was more than talkative, and honest. He was sure she would tell him the truth about whatever he asked, her genuine opinion, no holding backs.

Someone seemed to call Lewis, and he said something neither Y/n nor Mick could hear properly and then left. Her brown eyes were kept glued right into his ocean ones, almost daring him to deflect. He felt exposed to her, but in a good way, because for some reason, he wanted her to be capable of reading his thought through his eyes, “You’re, uh- it’s your first time in the paddock? I never saw you around before.”

She offers him a small smile, looks at someone in the back, waves, and then turns her attention to his face again, “Nah, I’m here all the time, just away from the cameras and most of the eyes.”

“Can I ask you why?”

She shrugged, “I mean, of course you can. Am I gonna answer, though? That’s a different question,” Y/n joked, and Mick could only smile brighter and roll his eyes.

“I- I’m just curious,” he seems to breathe for a second when their eyes lock again, “about you,” he finishes.

“Yeah, me too,” it’s a whisper like she is telling it to herself, acknowledging that she, too, wants to know every little detail about him. Her eyes divert to an engineer that passes them, her hands go up like the last time, and she gives a gentle wave. “I like to be myself. I mean, I like to be Y/n Y/l/n. I hope you don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore my brother and our family, but in some circumstances, your name can be a blessing and a curse” Y/n’s eyes searched for his again. She was waiting for the short nod he gave. A confirmation he understood the situation too, a way of demonstrating that she could keep going because he knew there was more to come. “I didn't want people to pin my success on my brother’s name, to say I had it easier just because he made it. The media loves to do that with women, saying they only made it because of a man or trying to pin hard work and talent as luck.”

He nodded, “I get it. I used to do that when I was a bit younger, to use a different surname so people would not act differently or expect more than one hundred percent of me. It’s tiring. I can sympathize.”

“A Schumacher, huh?” Y/n tatters before adding, “My brother told me a bit of what went on. For the record, it’s their loss. I’m sorry you had to go through such heartless people, but I’m glad they let you go so you can be here now,” so we could meet, so I could feel like drowning in your blue eyes, so that my body would feel lighter, she thought.

“I’m happy to be here too. I don’t think I would change a thing,” Y/n watches as the tip of his tongue goes out to wet his pink, plush lips, the way his eyes dart quickly around her whole face.

“It gives you experience at the end of the day,” she is quick to point out, feeling a tad nervous.

Schumacher nods, and before he can ask one more question, to hear her quirk remarks one more time, someone shows up, calling him to look at something new they did in the car.

“See you around, Mick,” she gives him that same half smile from a work of art before she touches his arm when passing. He could swear he shivered with the feeling of her skin against his.

Y/n goes around, greeting some of the staff she is friends with before finally reaching Toto. He gives her a pointing look, and she rolls her eyes. The older man has always been really supportive of Y/n as well, they would always talk when she came to the paddock, and their conversations would go around about anything and everything. Yn always admired Toto’s leadership skills, and she was open about how she thought his kind of work not only asked you for the technical side but, most importantly, the human side. Toto was able to captivate Lewis, and he did just the same with Y/n. He was also one of the people who made sure her privacy and image were safe around the Mercedes garage. People respected him, so if Toto Wolff says, ‘nobody talks about the fact that Lewis has a sister and she’s here a lot’ that is precisely what happens: nobody would talk, or most of them would not. Y/n was aware her scheme of keeping this under wraps was collective work, and she was happy to be in a place where people liked her brother so much they chose to protect her too.

“You took forever to show up this year. What happened?” he asked, taking off his headphones.

“A lot is going on with work, I’m launching a new collection soon, and you know I like to be in every step of the process, right?”

“Literally,” he joked, pointing to her new shoes, which he knew were most likely from said new collection. Y/n would always use them as a test, making sure they were comfortable and safe for the customers.

She jokingly rolled her eyes before adding, “Yeah, exactly, but doing this is quite difficult sometimes, especially when you want to be attentive to the human side of those who work with you.”

“You’re doing a great job, and I’m proud of how far you’ve come since the first time you appeared here, a small kid determined to do her own name,” he held her chin high, smiling. “Let me know when this new collection drops. I’m sure Susie would love to get one of every shape and color.”

Her smile grew wider, she loved Susie Wolff, and she loved their love. They were very private, but Y/n has been around for long enough to know how big and strong their love is, and she enjoys watching it from the sidelines whenever they interact.

“I will be sure to send some exclusives for her.”

Toto gave her one of his side smiles and nodded before having to leave to attend to some problem, so Y/n made her rounds around, asking questions, interacting, and making sure to annoy her older brother every once in a while. She took some time aside and sat with some of the media crew to answer her work e-mails while they typed away creating content. It was refreshing to be in the Mercedes garage. The chaos worked perfectly well, and she always felt energized.

When work was done and, it was time to leave, Y/n bid her goodbyes and did a small search with her eyes for a blond mop of hair, which did not go unnoticed by her brother.

“He had to leave a bit earlier,” Lewis explained.

“What?” she asked, securing her laptop case and bag in one arm and starting her walk to the garage. Lewis knew it was her way of changing the subject, to shift the attention.

“You’re my sister,”

“It’s been twenty-one years. You would think this is an established fact by now,” Y/n was a fan of using humor as a coping mechanism too.

“Mick is a driver,” he adds.

“Yeah, he’s like your teammate too now, right?”

“He’s also my friend,” Lewis points.

“That’s good. He seems like a good friend to have around,” her curls bounce as she reaches his car and opens the back door to load her things there.

“You’re deflecting, Y/n.”

“And you are not stating your points with clarity, Lewis,” she let go of the door, shutting it in the sequence and opening the passenger one.

“I saw your interaction, saw your interest perhaps, you’re not aware of it, or you’re just trying to brush it off and lie to yourself, but I’m doing my job as the older brother and warning you: by dating someone famous you may have to give up some things, such as your privacy,” now they’re sitting inside the car, he’s facing her, and she’s looking ahead, a woof of air leaves her lips before she finally looks at her brother. “You know how the media is, and if they even sniff a new romance between you, a Hamilton, and Mick, a Schumacher, they won’t go easy. They will want all the details, and I trust the Mercedes people, but we don’t know everyone. There are new people always showing up. They can let it slip about you without intentions, share information without noticing.”

She opens her mouth to answer, but unlike the usual days, she doesn’t have anything ready to say.

“And don’t forget the fact that he is my coworker, Y/n. If anything goes down the wrong path, you will either have to face him daily or lose my races. You will have to face your heartbreak every day. Do you remember Jonathan from high school? How you missed a week of classes when that fucker dumped you?! And then you had to finish the year there anyways, had to sit in the same class as him.”

“And I changed schools by the end of the semester,” she adds with a small nod. She understands his point, and she even agrees to some extent. However, she wanted to add that it was a different context, that Anthony was a douche, he never really liked her, and nobody in that school really did, this being the reason she decided to leave. She was a lot of things but not a coward, though she knew that was not what her brother was saying. She felt like reminding herself.

“I’m just trying to take care of you. I would hate to watch you suffer,” his voice is soft, and so are his eyes and hands when they reach through the center console to lace their fingers.

There’s a small smile of appreciation on her lips, “I love you, and I love how careful you are with me, but I’m not a kid anymore” She tightens her grip on his hand, and they share an attentive and agreeing look for some seconds when she adds, “And Mick is not Jonathan.”

“That’s what scares me.”

on karamelle, why it sucks, and redeeming azteca's reputation.

I just got to Karamelle for the second time, and good lord. I hadn't forgotten how much I hated it, but it hit me like a wall of bricks. And I'm already preparing myself to marathon it and be fucking done questing here for at least a year.

I think it breaks down like this.

Baby's first workers rights movement/sugary-sweet surveillance state Listen. I know this is a game that doesn't allow for player characters to have much individual impact on the in-game narrative. I know we've had to do errands for cops. I know we work for a war criminal. I KNOW there are flaws in the system. But there's something about the way that Karamelle's set up that makes it all feel so. much. worse. And that's the fact that Karamelle has such a stellar reputation within the Spiral before this. The happiest place in the Spiral, the sweetest treats in the Spiral. Everyone seems to fucking love this place. Almost no one outside of those actually working there seem to understand how corrupt it is. And so the YW is talked down to at every turn, like this is their first exposure to a corrupt environment. And sure, maybe it is within, canon. YW gets isekai'd at a very young age and then made into a child soldier, maybe this is actually the first time in canon that they've been introduced to these concepts. But (and this may just be me) it feels really rude to the player -- who might actually have experience with these ideas -- to make them feel like a fucking idiot with the dialogue options. Karamelle's characters just feel rude.

Oh, so the Gobblers were a fatphobic, Roald Dahl type thing from the start. Cool cool cool. Any of you ever read Roald Dahl's book "The Twits"? It's a very unremarkable story all things considered, except for this bit.

Aside from Roald Dahl's unavoidable history of antisemitism, does this remind you of anything? Honestly, this reminds me of the Gobbblers.

We first meet the Gobblers around level 10 in Wizard City -- creatures driven by consumption. And then we get to Empyrea and hear that the Alphoi -- skinny "civilized" creatures -- can become Gobblers if they eat too much or are unhealthy in their eating habits. Which makes one of our oldest running enemies a loop-around fatphobic thing, ESPECIALLY when we get to them in Karamelle, the home world of the Gobblers. Rosina, especially, just oozes fatphobia and diet culture. The literal vilification of being fat isn't even subtext, it's just text.

The Old One, The Cabal, and what to do when your escape from the world ends up shoving what you were escaping from right back in your face. When I was in sophomore year of college, fall of 2019, I had one of the worst mental health periods of my life. Antisemitism was fucking everywhere, I was always a moment away from a panic attack, and it felt like no one understood. While I'm lucky in the fact that I was able to get an official diagnosis for genetically inherited PTSD, alongside the reassurance that I wasn't fucking crazy, there was a period when I just needed to go home for a moment. So when I was going back to my dorm from the dining hall to make sure all my stuff was ready to go, I opened up tumblr and made a post on a long-gone RP sideblog I had for the Swedish Chef (y'know, from The Muppets? long story), and before I'd even gotten halfway across campus, I'd received threatening and violent messages from someone RPing as Borat, which only got worse when they realized they were talking to an actual Jewish person.

That escape from reality didn't even last five fucking minutes before the horrors I was trying to avoid found me.

Now, Wizard101 has always been a source of comfort for me. I made my account fourteen years ago, and I do not know what my life would look like if I hadn't done that. There are flaws with this game, yes, sure, but over the past five years (since I got a wiz compatible laptop) I've developed a bit of a reliance on it to get me through the horrors. No better form of escapism.

But no art form is free of the horrors.

And Wizard101 has the fucking Cabal and Old One.

The Cabal within the fiction of Wizard101 is a secret, nefarious organization pulling the strings on events across the Spiral, controlling history from the shadows. This term literally originates in antisemitic conspiracy theory, with the term 'cabal' originating from the term for Jewish mysticism, 'kabbalah'. And I promise you, you've heard plenty of applications of this conspiracy theory in real life too. It feeds into the idea that Jews (or 'global elite') control the government, the media, the banks.

And then, we get to the man in control of it all. The Old One. Whether or not this was intended, he's a walking, talking antisemitic caricature. The octopus as a symbol for the mythical Elders of Zion is a longstanding dogwhistle (see attached for a guide to this and many other visual dogwhistles). "Oh, he's based on H.P. Lovecraft-" So he's based on the works of a famous racist and antisemite, cool cool cool.

It's just exhausting, walking through a world that is so clearly modeled after Germany and other parts of eastern Europe, and finding antisemitism around every corner. And even more exhausting considering it's almost impossible to tell if they meant to do it. Antisemitism is so fucking ingrained in the world at this point that I don't actually know what they meant to do here, what they did maliciously or out of ignorance, or if any of it was put in with the purpose of turning it on its head. Over the past few years, it has become glaringly obvious that a lot of people don't realize when they're running across antisemitism, or even taking part in it. Including people I really thought would know better.

Side note. For those of you who know I see Dasein as Jewish, you may be wondering how I balance that out with the antisemitic nature of The Old One, since they share a physical form. I think of it like this. Dasein did not choose The Old One. He did not choose to resemble that, but he can attempt to reclaim it. Dasein's Judaism comes not from the resemblance he holds to the hatred that haunts us, but from the love that keeps us going. He questions authority and longstanding tradition, chooses to do what's right instead of what's expected, and is kind in the face of hatred. He literally makes himself, and a world, out of nothingness. Something out of Nothing. He's so Jewish you guys.

The Spiral's "Worst World Award" goes to... I know we all say "fuck Azteca" pretty often on this website, but I don't think it deserves to be deigned the worst world in Wiz. My main gripe with Azteca is how inaccessible it gets after Xibalba strikes -- the flashing lights aren't exactly photosensitive friendly. Which further lends frustration to my completionist nature, meaning I have to finish all quests, badges, and fishing before I finish the world (making it take forever to finish). Aside from that, there really isn't that much wrong with the world (and if you argue that it sucks because you can't save Azteca, I get it, but some tragedies are inescapable by their very nature). It's a problem of gameplay, versus a problem of plot in the case of Karamelle. And maybe its just because I'm a writer, but problems with plot feel much more egregious. I really do think Karamelle deserves more vitriol than it gets.

G-d, I can't wait to get to Lemuria.

someone (hi, @sweetjikook, careful what you ask for, idk if this is what you wanted lol) asked me what my thoughts are on current jikook in my last post and in an attempt to not be redundant with all of the information already out there, all i can really think about is offering everyone some insight/context on a situation that i know a lot of people probably don't have experience with but i do.

have you ever been in relationship you had to hide?

but between just you and me, having everyone convinced i'm really bad at it is part of the self defense mechanism i built in a long time ago to make sure that when i have to lie, about the more serious things, the things that matter, no one can call my bluff. because i'm actually really good at it. i wasn't given a choice not to be.

how good of a liar are you? me, personally, if you were to ask, i would tell you i'm an awful one. just absolutely no good, can't control my face, i have skin that's prone to blushing (me + seokjin = 1 whole tomato), and even if i manage to get the lie out, it won't take me long to break. and these days, for the most part, that is delightfully true. most of my lies now are white or just silly, meant to be discovered immediately. i have significantly less to lose and am in a space that doesn't require that sort of skill in me anymore.

having to pretend you don't love someone when you really, really do is not for the faint of heart. for every moment alone you can steal together, those precious hours, or if you're lucky days, where no one else is around and you can finally let out all of the pent up affection and desire just to be close to each other that has been building up for who knows how long, there is far more time simply spent alone. alone, as in by yourself and then the type of alone in a crowded room, your partner visible and right there, but as good as miles away for all the ability you have to be near them how you would prefer to be. it's a special sort of hell, to be frank, and the only reason it's worth it is if you and the other person can some how make it work in spite. and i do mean in spite, because there are so many things to spite in those circumstances, but i digress.

truthfully (lol okay, but really), i think when you can ignore the reasons you're having to do it in the first place, there's something rather romantic about hiding. i'm not the first person to write about it and think so. it really does heighten the whole relationship experience. every secret smile shared, every touch stolen, every love letter slipped between the pages of a book passed back and forth in the hall, between classes, (don't romanticize your trauma, folks. do as i say, not as i do) it's low key addictive.

you know when you're in a group and someone says something bizarre and your eyes find your partner already staring back at you with an expression that confirms you're both thinking the exact same thing? that lightning zap of recognition down your spine, a warmth rushing your head and chest because there are few greater feelings than to know and be known, dearly, intimately? it's a little like that, but every single time you look at each other because what you're sharing, it's always a secret. and when it's just you and someone else against the world, it fosters a very specific type of camaraderie and trust, because there are real stakes at play if you mess up. if you are discovered, you risk safety, reputation, and worst case scenario permanent separation, just to name a few.

now, before we continue, i want to take a second and make sure you're not letting any potential preconceived notions about lying, that it's always bad, that thou shall not do it, whatever, cast any sort of moral judgements on the liar. we don't have time or room for that here. if you've never been in an environment where lying was required of you at the risk of yours or worse, someone you love, their well-being, good for you, i hope that never changes. but i ask that you take a second to recognize that lying is not always a negative, deceit not always malicious in intent.

you know who i think is a really good liar? jungkook. are you surprised? good, he's doing it right. call it "it takes one to know one" maybe, but i've watched our little baby star candy get wise fast over the years and at this point, he's got hiding in plain sight (i'm sorry, it's too applicable, iykyk) aka lying by omission down pat. he and i think everyone else involved, actually, knows that most people are going to go out of their way to explain his and jimin's actions as something else. homophobia in this case is both the sword and shield, as is the convenient culture of skinship and the rest of bangtan's puppy tornado physical affection with each other. i'm not saying they wouldn't be like that anyway, i think they would, i'm just saying it's a very convenient smokescreen for people trying to hide otherwise.

also, i'm not trying to make anyone here sound like some sort of evil mastermind, but it's my own personal theory that a lot of the more incriminating situations we've seen on camera were on purpose. whether pushed by jikook themselves (ehh) or the company (probably the latter, bc they're sure as hell in the know), i think something like having an obvious hickey and the culprit's admitting to it was a bit of a boundary test to see just how much they could get away with. people are explaining it away as something totally normal between friends? excellent, write that down.

i, for one, am glad for it. someone out of that pairing needs to be good at it and it is not mr. park lol. jimin is great at so so many things, look, i think he's a slytherin too, but just cunning and ambition does not a good liar make. his "flaw" is his sincerity, he means things too much. it's why those early years of him crushing on jk feel so painfully palpable. it's why you're not going to catch him in a live with the other man, at least not a spontaneous one, anytime soon. (he can't even play it cool in the comments, be so for real right now. on that note, jk isn't necessarily playing it cool either in those lives, but people are faster to write his actions off like i discussed above, for whatever reason suits them, and he knows it.) jimin protects himself and jk by not putting himself in unplanned situations where he's forced to lie to anyone's face (if he can help it) in the first place. it's one of the reasons we've gotten, imo, some of the most insightful answers about jikook from him directly (i love waking up and seeing him, i would want to have him with me if i was stranded on an island, etc.) because if you put him on the spot, 9 times out of 10 he's going to tell some form of the truth.

jk means things too, please don't think i'm accusing him of being disingenuous, i just think he's filled in for what jimin lacks and in this case and particular situation, jimin lacks a single false bone in his body. and really good partnerships have that sort of synchronicity, no? it's one of the reasons i think they work so well, why they've made it this far. that, and i really do think they have all of bangtan and the company behind them too, but that's a different post.

so, my thoughts overall on current jikook aren't really all that different from the perception i have had of them over the last few years. i think they're together and experiencing all of the ups and downs that come with every long term relationship with the unfortunate added pressure of not being able to be open about it (+ being world famous idols + living in an openly homophobic country + impending enlistment ++++ a 100 other things. the cards are really stacked here, sadly.) though, because of idol culture, it's not like they could be open even if they were in het relationships, something that i think is both shitty but also helps them in the long run. and again, i have been in this long enough now that i don't really sweat "evidence" that comes out against them while they are still being loud in their own way. if anything, depending on what it is, i like it because it is further cover for a couple with a whole hell of a lot to potentially lose if they're genuinely exposed. (when i say i like it, this does not include videos of jk potentially being stalked. and my shortest response i could give you in regard to those videos are 1. if it's him, fuck those videos and the people who filmed them, i hope you rot, i didn't see anything that makes me change my opinion of jikook. 2. if it's not him, fuck those responsible and the whole concept still but more ground cover for jikook at least.)

this too is why i'm not particularly bothered by people shipping them with other members. i know i keep emphasizing it, but when the name of the game here is HIDE, every misdirection is a boon. if tae wants to get on live and talk about jk and how close they are, knowing that it will cause a certain faction of people to be loud afterward, so be it. those are literally his best friends/brothers and if taking some of the heat lets them slip further into the background, tae has shown himself to be extremely protective of those he cares about and uniquely clever (now, whether jikook still want him to be doing that at this point can be debated, but i still think his overall intentions are probably good. though don't get me started on how that misdirection is potentially working in his own favor as well lol)

end of day, being in a relationship you have to hide is really fucking hard. it is stressful and painful and heartbreaking and you spend so much time terrified for yourself and your partner that on long nights when you are alone again and you have cried yourself to exhaustion for the nth time, you wonder if it's really worth it, if maybe the purest act of love you could give someone is just letting them go. and if you are unlucky, as i was, the choice is eventually taken away from you altogether. your relationship ends because the world steps in and puts mountains between you and this is not fiction but real life, so you are young and powerless to do anything about it. i wouldn't wish it on an enemy, much less people i really care for. if i'm being really super duper honest here, sometimes the thought of jikook not actually being in a relationship feels like relief to me.

obviously i dont think our situations are perfectly comparable, the main thing being they've kind of already made it. they're adults with their own homes and money and elaborate support systems that seem to include their family and closest friends. if they were exposed tomorrow, who's to say it would even ruin their careers, bangtan have made such an impact on the world at this point it's not a sure thing. but still. it would hurt, needlessly so. it wouldn't be a walk in the park by any means. even if they ever come out on their own, on their own terms, it won't be easy and i simply wish the world was not that way. i think it's really fucking stupid that the world is still this way.

so i know for me, personally, if we ever get confirmation that they're not together...okay. i think my heart will simultaneously clench and unclench. i think i will secretly maintain that they were together at some point, honestly you can snatch that belief from my cold dead hands, but i will not be upset that two people i (parasocial? we still don't know her) care deeply for are suddenly at less a certain type of risk of being harmed.

but until they stop being so loud for anyone paying attention on main, i will be right here, rooting for them to beat the odds. if anyone could, i think it's them.

Thread of Species Features

-if you don't know, hi I'm working on a fantasy type game called Witch Tuition, this thread is mostly to set in world building on my notable fantasy race features. Also all of these designs i will be using one way or another for my game, so im treating them like ocs lol

-dwarves, orcs and other such wont be here if they wont differ from standard fantasy

First up is the human race - the Atlans! Created by the god of magic that holds up the world Atlas As an example is the Dealer Yvonne, her purplish tinge is due to her practically hotboxing herself with potion fumes, incense, smoking and other stuff -making her poison resistant

The adaptability works similar to vaccines so an exaggerated scenario would be like: if you just drop an Atlan not adjusted to a frozen tundra, they'll freeze to death. But if they're conditioned to the environment for a few months or so, then they can walk out in summer clothes

Next are Elves! I'm open to adding more, these are the most frequent. In Order Left-Right there's: Light/Dark/Nature I'll continue in their own tweet but generally, Light Elves hail a nobility of scrying glyphs, Dark Elves live more hedonic and have cave parties, Nature is Nature

Light Elves were always the most connected to magic due to they're fey ancestry, yet the creation of telescopes by the dwarves propelled them into nobility. it allowed them to scribe constellations onto glyphs and runes, teaching other races to properly harness magic and riches

Elf and Dwarven relations greatly deteriorated after the production of telescopes, dwarves responsible for the creation did not see a modicum of the credit for the creation by the light elves. The dark elves invade the mountain and underground spaces. and nature elves are neutral

Originally light elves, they transform through a ritualistic scorching after the discovery of eldritch beings beyond the constellations This discovery led them to be influenced by the beings, so as their own society, they decided to live more for themselves and party a lot

Dark elves within their own civilizations are pretty open to other races Despite light elves looking down on them, dark elves don't hold malice, as it would transfer to their own children. They also don't force the ritual on their kids, most do just choose to undergo it

Nature elves live more secluded societies after finding primordial magics, some of which transition to druids The first druids were the fae creatures attuning to the chaotic lands of the fae, the rituals to become one very much depend on the planet’s primordial magics

All fae creatures have a unique inner flame that connects them to the fae, which is why fae creatures live longer, especially when within said realm. The primordial magic that allows nature elves to attune to nature, instills elves to view beyond themselves, hence the androgyny

-to reiterate these are just common of their societies, but a nature elf can be rugged and not that, light elf can be down to earth n such also the ears are definite

3rd are Daemen! They are the cursed firstborn to those who either make deals with devils or slay powerful demons. The curse is meant to keep their mark on the mortal world so they still have a connection to return Here is a rival concept for the example

Here's the patterns of each domain, realistically it could be any demon powerful enough to cast a curse or devil lucky enough for a contract these examples are the most common of their domain's strongest demons. I also didn't forget her tail it's just not visible

realistically also, the demon invasions could be ended completely if after a few years nobody makes devilish contracts and adventurers who kill demon generals just don't settle down, but that's why it hasn't they gotta play cheap, you always lose something against the demons

Part of the Hybrids are the humanoid Animal Race, they take on physically any of the animal aspects they inhibit

animal human hybrid type of people would still be classified under a hybrid, tho they are exceptionally rare since, most don't want to marry animal hybrids

Elemental Hybrids (Hybrid is more of an umbrella grouping) share ancestry with primal fae spirits of the land

Water and Fire elements can control their temperatures and become amorphous at will outside of cold environments

Air and Earth elements can bend air and earth with ease

(The Water and Fire hybrids I thought would be really cool, hopefully i can use them in the future. Their names are Diana and Layla and rival dancers :> )

Finally Half Giants! Descendances of actual giants who live more nomadically. Half Giants collectively live in harsh environments, born with birth markings said to be their individual destinies

For this example is the Carpenter Orin, who'd sell you decor, display cases and such

Honestly boggles my mind a bit how much people like my huge giant Talent Swap, but I did finally assign every character a talent and while I might still do some small changes, so here's the new Trigger Happy Havoc Cast

Himiko: Ultimate Clairvoyant

Himiko while still a magician-type, now specializes in telling fortunes, an act she's very good at. She insists it's all magic, and often has strange somewhat prophetic dreams, though she's kinda bad at figuring out what they're actually prophesying

Angie: Ultimate Gambler

With Atua in her ear, Angie has yet to lose a bet. With a penchant for riskier gambling and more unique kinds of bets that often have no monetary component to them. She's just having a lot of fun.

Shuichi: Ultimate Affluent Prodigy

Born into a family who to decide the heir one of the many children must solve an incredibly complicated scenario. Shuichi half lucking into it by overhearing other competitors and half his deduction skills, solves this scenario despite being too young to actually compete, not fully realizing what it meant to solve it. So now he's very stressed always and feels like he only won out of pure luck and by stealing his sibling's work and doesn't deserve this.

Seiko: Ultimate Biker Gang Leader

I still have no good reason for this one besides gay gay homosexual I'm going to be honest. Biker girl who's kinda anxious and stops fleeing from the cops to get a cat out of a tree, I love her.

Sonosuke: Ultimate Baseball Star

Once again I don't have a good reason for this one besides the fact SOMEONE had to be the baseball star, and I felt his personality and skill with weapons could translate well to a bat.

Chiaki: Ultimate Fanfic Creator

While still a huge gamer Chiaki got noticed for writing novel long fix it fics and strange crossovers that worked perfectly. She is well known for her hurt/comfort, fluff, and sprawling worldbuilding to fill in all the gaps of whatever game got her attention. Sometimes she dabbles in horror or angst, just to experiment, but they aren't her favorite genres to write.

Fuyuhiko: Ultimate Martial Artist

While still a Yakuza member, he got scouted for his immense gift at martial arts that was discovered when he was learning self defense, because Yakuza. Fuyuhiko has always had a rather strict moral code as well, which fits well with a Martial Artist. Likely specializes in using enemies momentum against them.

Ryoma: Ultimate Soldier

Ryoma got dragged into war at a young age, as there was a gang war in his town that he got pulled into after one killed his cat, thinking it was the cat of the other gang. From there, life kept pulling him along into deeper and deeper conflicts, before eventually, he got pulled into a very literal war while on a trip. From there he vanished and went off the grid, and when he was found again, he had become the stoic Ultimate Soldier

Mahiru: Ultimate Lucky Student

I see her as having a generalized bad luck aura, but when she super focuses on something its like her luck goes into bullet time and suddenly gets super precise and rather good

Kotoko: Ultimate Idol

Drama and Idol is pretty similar I feel, Kotoko is planning to use Hope's Peak to escape her idol career that she feels trapped in. Only to find herself trapped within a death game but honestly she's kinda okay with staying here that's certainly one way to destroy her career.

Gundham: The Ultimate Writing Prodigy

With a specialization of writing animal themed fantasy adventure books, Gundham has basically taken over the YA fiction scene. He got his start from roleplaying on some animal forum, where he was encouraged to write a book because he had some very good prose. Thus launching a huge literary career.

Akane: Ultimate Swimmer

A mixture of poverty and a terrible environment pushed Akane to extremes to survive. When she noticed a river known for dangerous currents by her house had fish in it, she taught herself to swim and navigate those currents to catch the fish for her family, gathering a lot of attention.

Celeste: Ultimate Fashionista

Making her own gothic outfits, Celeste burst into the fashion scene and very quickly got a lot of attention, soon being able to launch her own brand and lead the gothic lolita scene. Very demanding and terrible to work with though.

Toko: Ultimate Programmer

When no person would be her friend let alone date her, she turned to the one thing she could make be her friend, a computer program. In her determination to program the perfect boyfriend, she devoted hours and hours to it, accidentally advancing AI research by decades as she tried to figure out why even the programs she made, refused to date her.

Sakura: Ultimate Moral Compass

Sakura always had a very strong well, moral compass, so she quickly found her place helping others with school work, and staying on top of things. Very kind and considerate, and will help you whenever there's a problem

Kirigiri: Ultimate Analyst

Let's be real she kinda already was this in a way. Her eye for detail and cause and effect was legendary and overshadowed her detective career, and now she uses that eye for detail to destroy her father's career and go deep undercover. Kept from getting bored by sheer spite for her father and a deep curiosity about the world around her.

Junko: Ultimate Detective

Junko loves despair, we been knew, and I can't think of anything more despairful then fucked up crime scenes. This girl specializes in the most fucked up cases, you find a toddlers head in a freezer? You call Junko in. She revels in the gore and despair and horror, really enjoying getting to stretch her mental muscles to figure out just how a crime scene came to be. While also taking notes on what gets people caught for her own crimes she's planning.

Monster Realm: Student Exchange Program, by Lucky Newt Games.

A portal has appeared in our world that leads to a realm of monsters! The environment is deemed safe, the natives peaceful, and ambassadors exchanged. Now a foreign exchange student program has been struck up between the two realms, and you’re one of the chosen few to go first! While attending school, you’ll be asked to record a journal about the different interactions you have with the other students and the different relationships you develop.

Monster Realm: Student Exchange Program is a solo journaling game that can also be played as a question/answer game with younger players. Meet people very different (and not so different) from you and reflect on the reasons for the types of relationships you have with them. Each round is equivalent to a single month, and you’ll attend school for a year. All you need is a deck of playing cards (Jokers removed), three 6-sided dice, and a way to record your journaling.

This is a journaling game that focuses on making relationships with people who are very different from you, using a deck of cards to generate the monsters you meet, their personalities, and the initial relationship you have with them. The journaling game is meant to represent a year’s worth of study, but there’s alternative rules for anyone who wants to streamline the game and write a smaller amount of journal entries.

I love games that basically give me an excuse to flex my creative writing skills, and I’m a sucker for monster tropes, so this was an easy rec to add to the list.

Grackle Teeth is a solo journaling game informed by the Wretched & Alone SRD. All you need to play is a deck of cards, a handful of regular dice, and some stuff to write with and on—the crummier the better.

You may have read about San Sibilia once in a 20-part encyclopedia in a dusty shop around the corner, but haven’t been able to find the bookstore since.

A visit to San Sibilia is a solo journaling game in which you roleplay a character chronicling their visit to the city of San Sibilia. It is a city not found on any maps—San Sibilia is both part of and distinct from our world. The city manifests itself differently to every visitor.

I love this game (which might be obvious, since it’s my second time recommending it). It can be short or long, depending on the luck of the cards and how much you’re interested in the premise. The city is strange and full of mystery, with opportunities for both wonder and creeping dread. I went into this game deeply inspired by the Ambergris stories by Jeff Vandermeer, so if you like the weird, unsettling feeling that his settings evoke, I’d recommend picking up this game.

Wonderfall, by Catscratcher Studio.

WONDERFALL is a solo hexcrawl RPG about exploration and community building in a post-apocalyptic world. Your people was separated, but playing as a WANDERER (a cute anthropomorphic adventurer!), you'll recover and preserve lost knowledge and culture, help your community heal, and help the world rebuild!

To play, you will need this pamphlet, a few 6-sided dice (d6), a small token of your choosing to represent your Wanderer, and a way to record detailed accounts of the world and your experiences.

This game is pretty compact, but it has a lot packed into it. There’s space to draw your anthropomorphic)character, a hexmap, and a number of tables that you’ll roll on to determine elements and encounters that your little wanderer will come across as they try to re-unite themself with their community. This is a hopeful post-apocalyptic game, so if you like imagining new futures and new frontiers, this game might work for you!

6 Trials of the Weavers, by tallywinkle.

6 Trials of the Weavers is a solo exploration game where you find yourself transported into the realm of the Weavers, a group of mysterious spider-like creatures. You must complete the six trials they present you with before you have a chance at escaping, encountering plenty of horrifying things along the way.

This game is a horror game that uses face cards and number cards from a deck of cards in different ways. The Ace of Hearts and the King of Spades are markers of the beginning and end of your trials as you attempt to escape. You will have to pass 6 trials (and answer prompts along the way) in order to escape, but you have only as many chances to pass as you do faces on a d6. Failure doesn’t stop you from moving on, but your final trial (and your ending) depends on how much stamina you’ve lost and how difficult it is to face the trial in the first place.

A caution: this is not a game for people with any kind of insect-phobia or arachnophobia, as there is quite a bit of well-done art that would reasonably spook anyone who’s a bit squeamish about bugs.

I saw this great reference post recently about medical conditions. It has a lot of useful information about initial first aid. I wanted to add some comments about urgency because a lot of fics take place outside the hospital setting and it's helpful to know how quickly you've got to get your character to medical help before they die. I also wanted to add something about long term disability because I think fiction often doesn't address chronic illness and injuries, but it's useful to know about if your character doesn't have magic serum healing powers. (I didn't want to add directly onto that post because they had clearly spent a lot of effort on the research and I don't want to come across like I'm raining on their hard work)

Also got requested for stab wounds and falls from heights =) Going to start with a little spiel on brain injury because it will come up a lot.

Brain injury There are different types of brain injury and they present differently depending on the areas of the brain affected. Traumatic brain injury comes from acceleration-deceleration, and typically have issues with mood control, attention/concentration and decision-making/problem-solving. This is the type that comes with amnesia of events before, around and after the injury, but particularly after. Hypoxic brain injury is when the brain didn't get enough oxygen, and is typically associated with breathing issues (drowning, suffocating, hanging, anaphylaxis). Memory may be affected, but don't have the classic course that traumatic brain injury go through. Hypoperfusion brain injury is usually due to a blood supply problem, and is typically from heart issues or low blood volume. These often affect deep territories of the brain and can have a variety of very localised and sometimes unusual symptoms, but can also present like hypoxic brain injuries. There are also a bunch of other acquired brain injury syndromes from strokes, bleeds, tumour, inflammation, etc etc and they all affect the person in different ways.

Stab wounds - Deadly? - depends what you hit, how quickly that area bleeds, and how long it takes for them to get help. Fatal within seconds/minutes: hitting any major artery/organ that results in blood released outside the body: neck (carotids), groin/thigh (femoral), chest (aorta and heart). While veins usually bleed slower, hitting major veins (groin/abdomen/chest) can also kill quickly. Likely to be fatal within an hour or two: major organs with a lot of blood supply (e.g. liver, kidneys, spleen, lungs), the aorta - there is a buffer because they tend to bleed first into the body cavity. Depending on the cleanliness of the knife, environment and whether you perforate the gut, infection can kill them down the track (days). Stabbing into muscle and fat is not usually going to cause death by itself unless you hit a blood vessel. - Disability? - depends on what was hit. Not enough is said about lacerated muscles and tendons. Especially around the hands and wrist (e.g. when people hold up their hands for defensive wounds), this is not easy to repair and you may not regain all your hand function (screw all the samurai movies where people catch blades one-handed, don't do it!). If an organ is hit, part or all of it might need to be removed to stop the bleeding, which causes long term problems. If the gut was perforated and infection happens in the abdomen, this usually means lots of surgeries and lots of gut problems down the track. Scarring, disfigurement, pain, body image issues (and PTSD) can all happen.

Fall from height - Deadly? - really depends on the way a person falls and what they land on. People have died from getting punched and falling backwards onto the ground from standing height. The highest fall survived was 10km but the vast majority will not be this lucky. Statistically, the 50% survival rate is at about 4 storeys (15m) while heights above 18m (?about 6 storeys) are almost uniformly fatal. What usually kills them is either going to be massive internal bleeding or brain injury. - Injuries - determined by which part they land on first. Common injuries are: leg fractures (usually ankles and hips), pelvic fractures, spinal fractures, rib fractures and skull fractures. Arm fractures can also happen, especially if they land heavily on one side or they try to break their fall with their hand. In general, internal injuries are correlated with where the bony injuries are. So rib fractures will usually be associated with lung bleeding or pneumothorax (air in the space between lung and the lining), or liver bleeding (the lower ribs on the right side overly the liver). - Disability: apart from the issues with fractures and severe traumatic brain injury (discussed below), spinal fractures can (but doesn't always) cause spinal cord injury - i.e. damage to the nerves going from the brain to the rest of the body. Spinal injuries can be complete, or incomplete (and uh...it's like a massive topic by itself so I won't go into it), and comes with a huge laundry list of complications and life-changing challenges with breathing, blood pressure management, skin problems, bladder and bowel issues, and sexuality issues. Bad pelvic fractures can also come with a lot of bladder, rectal and genital issues.

Allergic reaction - Deadly? - no, unless it is anaphylaxis. It can be very annoying or even (temporarily) disfiguring from the swelling and redness - Disability? - most allergies recur (some get better with age some get worse), but allergic attacks alone do not usually leave permanent disability.

Traumatic Amputation - Deadly? - depends on the level and how long you take to get to medical help. Small appendages (fingers/toes) are okay unless they get infected in the coming days. The higher the amputation on a limb, the higher the risk of severe bleeding, and you'd need to get to medical attention within hours at most. Above knee amputations with femoral artery bleeds can pour out your entire volume within minutes. - Disability? - Yes. Even as small as fingers and toes will affect your ability, although humans are very good at adapting. Thumb amputations are a major problem because you will lose your grip. Losing the big toe will affect how your foot pushes off from the ground and can impact your walking. Lower limb prosthetics are much easier to adopt than upper limb prosthetics, and the higher the amputation, the harder it is for the prosthetic to be attached and used. Also...watch out for PTSD/psychological distress and phantom pain. - Notes: most fics wouldn't need to describe these in detail, but traumatic amputations are...for lack of a better word, traumatic and messy. They often do not amputate completely. They are often associated with multiple fractures along that limb. In hospital, the doctors will assess whether they can reattach the amputated part, but often there is extensive damage to the blood supply and nerves around the area, and a surgical amputation has to be done higher up.

Anaphylaxis - Deadly? - YES. Get that epinephrine/adrenaline in within minutes or they die. - Disability? They will need to be aware of their trigger and carry the Epi-Pen with them. If the anaphylaxis is treated quickly, there's usually no lasting effects. If the anaphylaxis is treated late and they lose consciousness or even, god forbid, arrest, they can have long-term effects from hypoxic brain injury.

Asthma - Deadly? - Potentially, depending on the severity. - Disability? - Yes. Apart from needing to carry their puffers, the severe asthmatics sometimes have to go on long-term steroids, which causes a whole host of problems with weight, appetite, bone health, skin health etc. If it's severe enough to need ICU (rare, but possible), then they might end up with hypoxic brain injury. - Notes: poor lungs is something that can permeate every aspect of life. Getting an attack when you go for a run in the cold, getting short of breath walking up the stairs, getting wheezy when you help move a couple of heavy furniture etc. In describing an asthma attack - a key is how much they can speak. The one holding a full conversation with you is going to be fine. Watch out for the one sitting silent on the edge of their bed, leaning forward with their arms propping them up by their sides (tripod position), their neck and chest muscles straining with every breath, who can only answer in single words.

Blood loss - Deadly? - Potentially - the previous post had a good rundown of the volumes involved. - Disability? - Potentially. Again, no blood for brain, brain sad. Mechanism is going to be different to anaphylaxis and asthma though, which are from low oxygen. With anaemia and shock, it can cause infarction (i.e. death of cells in area that didn't get blood supply) in deep parts of the brain. - Notes: people can tolerate horrendously low blood (haemoglobin) levels if it's from a chronic illness (e.g. lymphoma). In acute blood loss though - the person is going to get dizzy with standing up abruptly (might even faint), they might see black spots, feel short of breath and tired, start feeling cold more easily, walking unsteadily and probably trouble concentrating. Note that blood loss can occur internally! Also note that not everyone can receive blood transfusions for biological and for cultural reasons.

Broken bones - Deadly? - Trick question. The fracture is rarely going to kill you outright but the complications might. High impact pelvic fractures in particular can cause massive bleeding and kill (usually within hours). There are also other potentially deadly complications which I won't go into. - Disability? - Depends on severity, yes. A fracture where the bones are well aligned usually heals fairly well; poor alignment can come with visible physical abnormalities. Hardware across joints will restrict joint movements (common for ankle and spine fractures). A really bad compound or comminuted fracture may never heal properly and be a constant source of pain. Also the complications can cause lots of disability! - Notes: bad fractures will distort the anatomy around them, so it can affect the nerves or the muscles. Good young bones will usually take 6-12 weeks to heal enough for normal use. Old fragile bones will take much longer. In the immediate period, any force on the broken bone will hurt - so that's any attempted movement by the injured person, as well as gravity! Don't forget damn gravity! Also, in the first month it's common to get a lot of swelling and bruising in that limb.

Burns - Deadly? - Potentially, but you've got a bit of time (hours). In the early stage it's from the inflammatory reactions and severe fluid loss discussed in the original post. NOTE FOR SMOKE INHALATION IT CAN KILL RAPIDLY if the airways swell up (which might take a few hours, barring the issue with inhalation of toxic chemicals), so these people generally have to be monitored very closely for 24 hours. - Disability? - For the severe burns, potentially lots. Scarring across joints means a lot of movements get restricted, so anything involving hands and rest of limbs are going to be a problem. Large area burns also affects your ability to regulate temperature. Again, don't forget PTSD/psychological distress, particularly if scarring is highly visible.

Concussion/Traumatic Brain Injury - Deadly? - Potentially. Depends on where it's bleeding from. For some people it can kill them within minutes, for others within hours or days. - Disability? - Potentially. As the original post said in another section, head injury is divided into mild, moderate and severe. Most mild head injuries (aka concussion) recover completely within 3-6 months if not earlier. Moderate and severe traumatic brain injuries will often have long term effects on: mood, thinking skills, social skills, communication skills, seizures, headaches. - Notes: watch out for the person with a "blown pupil" (pupil/s not contracting) they will die within the hour if they don't get medical attention. Also watch out for the "lucid interval" for a particular type of head injury bleeds - these are the ones who walk around like normal after a hard knock to their head and are found dead in their beds the next morning.

CPR - the only thing I want to add for CPR is that for someone who needs CPR in the community (i.e. not a hospital setting), chance of getting their pulse back is 1 in 3, chance of them making it to hospital alive is 1 in 5, chance of them surviving the hospital stay is 1 in 10. (source) These are not great odds!

Dehydration - symptoms are very similar to blood loss (apart from the obvious lack of blood squirting out) but usually develop over a period of hours to days. Because it's a much slower process, it's more likely to kill you from kidney failure than from poor blood flow to the brain.

Heart attack - nitpick on the original post but heart attack is not cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest is exactly as the words say: "heart" "stops". A heart attack is usually referring to myocardial ischaemia - i.e. low blood flow to the heart muscles. - Deadly? - a massive heart attack will cause the heart to stop so...yes. A smaller heart attack can kill within a few hours to days by causing heart failure (i.e. heart not pumping out blood properly), an even smaller one may not cause any obvious symptoms but will build up damage over time. - Disability? - yes. Just like with lungs, a bad heart will affect all aspects of your life. Walking around the house, having a shower, running up the stairs, going for a walk up the hill, having sex. If there is any period where the heart has stopped, it can also cause brain injury.

Loss of consciousness/syncope - Look. As much as fiction tends to depict people swooning all the time, it is not supposed to happen on the regular. Anyone who faints needs to be seen by a medical doctor. The only benign cause of loss of consciousness is a "vasovagal attack", which is where they (usually young women) drop their blood pressure because it's been a long hot day and they didn't have much to drink and they got excited and stood up too quickly. - Loss of consciousness happens because of 3 reasons: interruption of blood flow to the brain (strokes, heart attacks, heart rhythm problems, blood loss, massive clots in lungs), electrical problems within the brain (seizures), or crappy blood getting to the brain (toxins and medications) - The underlying cause will dictate whether it is likely to cause death or disability

Shock: This is when your entire body isn't getting good blood supply for whatever reason. This includes your brain, which means most people either become confused or lose consciousness by this stage. Will kill within the hour (depending on underlying cause) if not treated, and can still cause damage to multiple organs even if treatment started.

Stitches: erm...there are different types of stitches. The original post talked about interrupted stitches. There IS a type of suturing called continuous stitches, which is when you sew using one continuous thread and pull the wound close like you might fabric. NOT ALL WOUNDS ARE SUITABLE FOR THIS, but it is fairly common in some surgeries. Wounds can also be closed by staples.

What fact do they excitedly tell everyone about at every opportunity?

xe WILL infodump at you about music. cole talks about music with xem and xe immediately goes becomes insane about music. this is around the time that they come up with their name! Avec Mordentia is basically nonsense that they thought sounded cool but the name for the general virus (Avec Morendo) is like. meant to be butchered music terms for 'like dying (away)' because i'm a fucking nerd ✌️

What’s the most obvious difference between their behavior at home, at work, at school, with friends, and when they’re alone?

Work: generally xe pretty much considers everyone at the hospital xyr friend, but xe does eventually realize that not every patient is going to be a friend (cough. richard hugh) and xe does eventually learn that some patients prefer more serious doctors! their 'work' persona is most often seen because of edega though, because obviously they're pretty scared of him. Whenever they're in Work Mode™️they try to be serious and brief and get to the point, but they're not very good at it.

Friends: Generally they're pretty upbeat and cheerful around people who they consider friends! They're pretty generous with using the term, but that's just because the hospital is generally just friends with each other. even lucky got dragged kicking and screaming into the friend group before realizing 'oh actually this is kind of nice. i like being here'

they're very close with Ada, Ian, and Samurai in particular, and they sometimes let their carefree personality drop a little bit if they're worried or upset about something.

Alone: VERY MUCH depends on xyr mood. if xe's in a good mood, xe's generally just as carefree as usual-- just quieter-- but if xe's in a bad mood, everything completely drops. Xe sort of just sits in the corner somewhere if xe's in a bad mood, but sometimes xe goes to Samurai since they both actually value peace and quiet a lot whenever they need it.

If they're avoiding someone, they can go full nervous breakdown, but that's generally pretty rare unless something's gone horribly wrong.

What do they commonly misinterpret because of their own upbringing / environment / biases? How do they respond when realizing the misunderstanding?

I can't think of anything particularly interesting off the top of their head, so i'm going to talk more abt xyr insecurities since like. that's a type of misinterpretation on how people see you. right

but anyway! xe often is worried about people seeing them as a leech because of their generally parasitic nature, and xe's generally pretty worried about being a burden. xe really likes xyr body and xyr job and the people around xem, but xe's constantly scared of being found out.

What happens when xe has to give up being human? To just die, or even worse, become a leech to a host that doesn't have much electricity to give in the first place? To just become another case of Connectifa?

I think it'd be interesting if Richard Hugh straight-up said something that emotionally devastated/scared the shit out of Avec also tbh. like, we didn't get to it at first but i think in a roundabout way this might answer the question because i'm thinking of Richard calling xem a parasite (in the figurative term) and them not only being scared but just horrified because they don't like being reminded of that.

Ada and Ian try to comfort xem, but everyone gets the feeling xe doesn't really want to talk about it.

How do you incorporate your environment into your magic?

I love this question! Thank you for asking.

For me it depends on the spell I'm working. I do a lot of healing and protective work centered around my home and family, so in those instances I I'll always work at my kitchen table. I have found it's a focal point of energy in my home, so I will draw on that while I'm working on a spell.

For other work I like to practice outside. I am lucky enough to have a garden so I will often work out in the grass. This means I also spend time considering the weather, sun and moon when planning when I will work a spell. The type of spell is important to me as well. If a spell is attuned to the air element for example I will try to time it with a windy day etc. It all helps me charge the spell and channel my intention clearly.

I'm personally very attuned to Earth so I often use crystals to focus my intention. But I like to have aspects of all elements present for each spell so I will always have a bowl of water, a candle or some incense etc to keep the energy of the spell in balance with all four elements.

with fukuchi I believe that he didn't get that much education/didn't value it as a kid but as he got older he was like "hey this is sick" and just went DEEP into it. like he got into the military and as he lived on the base he started getting into Knowledge and Education more and. yeah. idk it might just be personal to me but also... yeah.

untapped comedy potential with teruko in restaurants. "hey why is this six year old ordering a 40 dollar 4 pound steak."

uh WITH JOUNO!!! with his sight I saw that someone thought that his blindness came with the side effects of the surgeries but again we don't really know... we don't know what the surgeries entail or what his whole background is. only god, asagiri, and hurakawa know.

anyway. with jounos personality me n my friend have an idea that it's a "superiority complex covering up an inferiority complex." his blindness could been an insecurity he has but again. we don't really know. AND!!! ROUGH ADJUSTMENT!!! from being an executive in a crime ring with the mindset of "there is a strict hierarchy and you are above your subordinates" to the military's "there is a strict hierarchy but you all work as one unit. cooperate or die" had to be a weird adjustment.

and tecchou! I don't really have much to add but I do believe that tecchou is a soldier through n through. just how he acts and his almost blind loyalty/obedience it just... .... hrrr yknow.

another thing about tecchou: I also don't think he liked school that much 😭 I. don't know why I think this it's just kinda. yeah.

i like what you are saying for fukuchi!! i’d love to see his passion kick in while he’s working in the military. from the few flashbacks we have seen we definitely know he has the potential for passion but was likely very distracted by his ultimate goal. i’d love to see more of his behind-the-scenes planning over time. he said he got the sign 36 years prior which would make him a kid, i wonder if he didn’t know what it meant until he was given the amenogozen? hmm. not sure. that’s a ramble for another time. but i’d like to see more about him studying and stuff as well!!

and YOURE SO RIGHT about there being hidden potential for teruko. she’s definitely gotten so many "kids _____ free" things because of it. she’s very lucky for that aspect

and about jouno. i’d want to say he lost his sight before joining the hunting dogs? since the one flashback panel we seen his eyes were still closed. if we take into account that his heightened senses were caused by going blind (he said "i can see a lot more now that i’ve lost my sight" to dazai in his intro scene); i’d assume the surgeries don’t do all the enhancement.

the wording here implies he already had his senses prior to becoming a hunting dog. that’s not to say the surgeries don’t enhance them further though.

i’d love to see jouno learn to adjust to the hunting dogs environment. like that would make me so happy it’s the thing i want most in bsd right now. i’m actually writing my own interpretation of it soon hehe. anyway i imagine he accepted the offer as to avoid punishment for his crimes, i want to see the change in mentality he gets over time so badly. idk i just. love jouno so much i want more focus on him.

i like your complex idea as well! never really thought too deep into it. maybe jouno feels less than the other hunting dogs because he wasn’t always good? i wonder if fukuchi’s words will get to him and he will feel lesser because of it. i want more character development for him please omg. i want him to be reassured that he is good now by tetchou please omg.

i kinda agree with the tetchou bit as well. he’s not fantastic socially from what we’ve seen, it probably made connecting to people at school hard. he was probably easy to get along with but not overly close with anyone. that’s how i felt about him at least!!

#IndustryQs I’m curious, what’s it like working in the industry? What kind of environment is it usually? Is it hard to find a job, and are the jobs you get secure? (Like, can you stay with a company for years with stable pay/benefits?)

I’m interested in working in the animation industry too, and am going to university for it soon… there’s some things that make me anxious about it.

No worries at all! I completely understand being anxious about the animation industry. I just wanna start off by saying working in animation (or really any industry) comes with its pros and cons, ebbs and flows, etc. and it's not 100% perfect. Everything that I'm about to type is from the perspective of being a storyboard artist and 2D animator as well my personal experience from art school to getting my first studio job to current day. Some things may vary depending on job positions (or just the personal experience of a different person). So what I say here isn't 100% the absolute, definitive overlook on the animation industry. Alright? Let's go! Is it hard to find a job?

There's no way to really sugarcoat this but yes. And also no at the same time.

Why yes? I would say the hardest time it was for me to find a job was the very first one as an intern at Sesame Workshop in college. That was my first time ever working in a studio (and also got paid full time). But that internship came after a plethora of rejections which effected my self-confidence as an artist a lot. After that internship (and graduation), I didn't get my next full time in-house studio gig until 2 years later. Most of my friends who also work in the industry also share similar experiences where it's not always guaranteed you'll find a job immediately after you graduate. There are some people who have but the majority tend to finally really break in a couple years after graduating. And I know that sounds scary but trust me it's okay. Everyone moves at their own pace and you shouldn't mandate yourself (especially when life is unpredictable and things happen outside of your control). So is it hard find a job? Yes, but usually the first one is the hardest of them all. But then why no? Well once you do break in, it becomes easier to find the next gig and you start building relationships with fellow creatives. The animation industry is a very close knit community so if you're great to work with, meet your deadlines, and do good work, you'll build a rep and will get recommended for other projects. Unfortunately, this is also kind of the reason why it's so hard to break in. Some jobs are be filled through recommendations/referrals of people with experience and good rep with others. From personal experience, I don't blame any production who didn't hire me because I was so new and no one in the industry had ever worked with me or knew about my work ethic. All I could do was hone my skills and make that the thing that drew employers in. Luckily now I don't worry as much as finding the next gig, but in the beginning it was rough and I just had to keep at it until someone took a chance on me.

Are the jobs you get secure? (Like, can you stay with a company for years with stable pay/benefits?)

As for wages and benefits, yes. There is a union called The Animation Guild that represent animation workers. A lot of the studios are under the union so they adhere to the Guild's contracts and wages so that you're appropriately paid for your job. So you could hop between union studios without losing your fair wages and benefits. As for if the jobs are secure, yes and no. It really depends.

Working for animation is very nomadic because it's project based. You only get hired for a certain amount time for a project then leave once the work is done. Nowadays, you're lucky to find a production that is at least a year long (especially if we're talking about TV animation productions). Feature animation productions tend to have longer production schedules due to bigger budgets. So you could board on the same movie for 2 or more years and get paid a steady wage. Also feature productions aren't as fast paced as TV productions which don't have the biggest budgets (and therefore shorter production schedules).

For TV, it's not always guaranteed your show will get renewed for a new season and when it doesn't you have to search for the next gig. My current production as I'm writing this (Spiderman Freshman Year) is the longest I'll ever be on a production since we were lucky enough to get renewed for another season. It feels so relieving to know I have job security in that sense and I don't blame you for worrying about it. Sometimes you only have a gig for 6 months and have to start the search again half way through that job. It may not be ideal but I personally like being able to work on different kinds of projects, work at different studios and learn from all the different experiences in hopes it can be useful if I ever am in a leadership role. While sometimes it can be worrisome to think about, I prefer to look at it as a way to learn and try something new. As for staying with a company for years? Mmmmm you could but again it depends if there are projects available that can hire you. While I was at Titmouse, I hopped between Star Trek Lower Decks and Critical Role thanks to my supervising director on Star Trek recommending me. Most studios want to retain their talent so if there is something available and it's a project you genuinely want to work on then yeah you can virtually keep working at the same company for years. I know people who worked at the same place for 10+ years and never wanna leave haha.

What’s it like working in the industry? What kind of environment is it usually? Maybe this is me being me but it's like any other job haha. Granted yes, I'm living my childhood dream and am incredibly grateful for that. I love my job and get to work on shows that my family and friends can watch and be like, "Oh shit! Li worked on this!" But despite all of that, it's still a job at the end of the day. I wake up at 8AM, clock in at 9AM, do my assignments and clock out at 6PM. Some days are hard when I can't quite visualize a certain scene in my head and some days I breeze through a whole board sequence in one breath. Sometimes I get aggravated about the industry but it never gets to a point where I wanna leave all together. And I've gotten to meet wonderful, amazing talented people who push me to become not just a better artist but a better person. Working in the animation industry is really just like any other job. It just so happens we make entertainment for the masses haha.

But as for the environment, it's a bit hard to say 'cause the animation industry has been working from home for 2 and a half years (going on 3 years). But what little time I did get to be in a physical studio and you know, work with other people isn't really any different from working at home. Except for like, not being able to do spontaneous lunches and en-passing conversations. I do miss those random human interactions so now I have to make it a point to actively do that. But yeah, it's usually just a bunch of nerds who love to create, love the craft and come together to make the magic happen. I hope that answered your questions!

ok I'm feeling silly enough to post this so here you go [most of it is based on personal experience] my essay type thing about the American school system that probably sucks but oh well

Posters are hung around schools. Images of people holding hands around the Earth. "Be yourself, there's only one of you!" "People care." "Be kind." "Speak up for yourself." Smiling faces. Empathy. Everywhere, plastered around the hallways for everyone to see, though they go unread. This baffles me, that the school has the audacity to hang up such kinds of posters in an environment like this.

In English class, there are books that you have to read. If you don't like it, that's too bad, write an essay. It's due tomorrow, five paragraphs, another one next week. Triggering topics are often discussed and displayed in this literature, and there are no warnings. The other students are joking about the events, laughing in the corner that they're congregated in. They're laughing, why aren't you? Don't cry, it's funny, as long as you don't pay attention to it. Don't think about it. That's not the point of this class. Here, regurgitate this plot point and extend it as possible. You won't get a good grade otherwise. You forgot an indent? Points off. Oh, your hands hurt from writing? Keep going! Unless you want to fail.

In History, we are fed propaganda constantly. America is the best country, right? Yes we did that thing but don't worry about it, look at this. We have the best government system, and very good leaders. Life is good in America. Don't worry about when you graduate. It's your job to fix this mess. Current history is not told. The same story is told over and over again with slightly more detail and different wording, all to drill it into your head that you're lucky to be here. You wouldn't know that though. Why would they lie? School is here to teach you after all. They just teach what they want to. Current history? Don't worry about it. The struggles of others that are happening now don't matter, learn about the civil war again.

In Science there is a constant bombardment of work. It's difficult to complete when everyone in the classroom seems to be doing great with it, since they have time to yell at their friends at a headache inducing volume. It doesn't matter if you get one, though, do your work. If it hurts that bad go to the nurse, get an ice pack and pretend it helps. Five minutes are left in class. Clutching your head, you can't hear when the teacher asks if you're okay over the continued screaming. Another day, someone mocks transgender people in a presentation about the water cycle. Everyone laughs. Why aren't you laughing? It's funny, right? Someone yells for the freedom of Palestine with passion, while someone yells back a no with equal volume and zero passion. (Did they even believe that?...) Don't say anything. Nobody else did. Take your notes, don't say anything.

In Math, you are expected to understand everything. The first explanation wasn't enough? Good luck on your test, do this worksheet. If you don't finish it's homework, and you know you won't finish it then. You have other things to do? Too bad, you're asking to fail this class if you don't want to do it. You're just too lazy. I'll have to call your parents if this keeps up. Maybe if you payed attention more you'd understand. Look, everyone else gets it, why don't you? Do these questions. I know you don't know how to do it, but I can't help you. You aren't allowed to guess.

Lunch is the loudest time of day. The food looks wrong and tastes bad, but it always does. If you don't like it, too bad, pack your own lunch. It doesn't matter if you can't do that. If you can't afford the food, too bad. We can pretend to care about that, but that's as far as it goes. We're doing a food drive this week to help people who are going hungry though, why don't you donate? Wear this color shirt to help fight world hunger, or breast cancer, support animals in need. Why aren't you dressed up? Don't you care?

Walking in the halls is a nightmare. People are constantly bumping against you. Not a single sorry is uttered, not even if they make you fall. If you do that, everyone will point and laugh. Nobody will help you, fix it yourself. People still care, though. There are too many conversations happening at once. People are called gay or autistic as a substitute for stupid, though that's not what those mean. That doesn't matter. Nobody said anything. Don't say anything. If someone is lazy or unathletic they are fat, and that's bad and funny. It's not wrong. Don't say anything. Be yourself, though, everyone matters. Hold hands. Smile.

A sigh of relief is released on the bus. It doesn't matter how long the drive is, you have friends to keep you company. What's that? You don't? Stare into space until your stop comes into view. Don't miss it. The bus driver won't turn around for you. You have to wait now. The bus is like the hallways, but worse. There are little safety measures and it smells weird. Everyone is right next to you no matter where you sit. Nothing is sanitized and there is garbage on the floor. Don't worry about it. It's not that long. If you don't like it, you can walk or get picked up. It's likely that your parents don't have time for that.

I enter the school again and look up at the posters, dragging my heavy backpack with me.

I hate writing essays.
