So I'm leaving work and something darts in front of me, maybe 10ft away, too fast for me to see what it is. Peek around the tree blocking my path and I see this

Just like... a whole ass hawk. Dude's gotta be about 1.5ft tall. Massive fucking bird. And it's just staring me straight in my soul like this, even as I try to move ahead. It didn't budge. And there's only this path back to my car unless I want to walk on a busy highway. So I have the option of Death By Raptor or Death By Truck.

So I walk in the poison ivy filled patch off the sidewalk. Guy still isn't moving. Still staring me directly in the eyes. And I do this thing when animals are behaving strangely where I'll talk to them, so I'm just like, "Hey, man. I don't know you. You don't know me. This feels really threatening. I'm just trying to get to my car, dude. Can I get some space please? You're a big fucking bird. I see those claws. You could kill me right now, but I'd appreciate if you didn't, ok?"

It didn't move until I was about 2ft away. Again: I'm as far from it as I can be without walking into the street. It clearly wasn't going to budge. I walk past, thing flies up (silent, btw. Scary) and lands on a brick wall a little further ahead

Anyway. Weird guy. Nearly shit my pants when I noticed a bird big enough to carry off a fully grown cat was just... there, staring me in the face, unwilling to move away from me, a human, something it should see as a threat. I watched behind me the whole rest of the way to my car, just in case this bird decided to help me shed this mortal coil. 10/10 experience. Super cool guy.

Wait... Dream was born on August 12, 1999 and Dream was arrested in the Disc Finale on January 20, 2021 soo... wait, wait, wait, that means he was only 21 when he was imprisoned for life in a small lava covered box!... Did I do that math right? 21?! hey! creating things is hard. creating things and feeling like nothing you make is good, or like no one will care, or like you'll always be a couple steps behind everyone else is hard, too. creating consistently when your physical and/or mental state isn't the best is (get this!) also very difficult. and if anyone who's reading this has felt that way or still feels that way, i want you to know that i'm proud of you, and the things you make matter because you matter, and it's okay to sometimes feel like garbage as a creative, but it will pass. take the time and space you need and remember that just by virtue of trying, you are doing so well.

Since Kojima’s been saying that the Death Stranding film is going to tell a story that can only be told through the film medium, I really hope it’s a prequel to the game. There are a lot of background events represented through text and dialogue that wouldn’t translate well to a video game format on their own.

It’d be really cool to see the start of the Stranding, Victor and Igor’s backstory (as seen in the DS novelization), snippets from Sam’s childhood/early years with Bridges, the development and construction of the chiral network, and most of the events described in Higgs’ journals.

Coffin’s decision to leave her family behind, start a terrorist uprising by radicalizing the porters who unknowingly abetted human sacrifices by delivering BBs for the chiral network, and the decision to adopt Higgs as her protégé? That story alone would be worthy of a film.

#just thoughts #i would kill to see little baby Peter #and witness his Becoming™️ from that scared kid into the man we know and love #i know that ‘new world with a new sky’ moment would be POWERFUL #and what of his porter partner who died? what did that relationship look like? how close were they?#what of his relationship with Fragile after Coffin died? having a best friend who probably never saw his face?#not to mention his tragic rise to power and the secrecy that came with it. having to kill to maintain his DOOMS because people needed him #like he was handpicked as the inheritor of a rebellion against Bridges/the UCA and suddenly ended up with a LOT of responsibility when-#-Coffin died. and suddenly he was living a double life to care for and protect the people of the Western region #and those folks responded by calling him King Midas. naming him after a folk hero whose defining tragedy is being powerful but alone #everything he touched turn to gold but it’s so hard to form connections when you can’t shake hands #(sorry not sorry lol)#it’s such a complicated and nuanced backstory & so many people don’t even know about it because it’s in hard-to-reach texts & a side quest #idk I just think it’d make a really good movie. bonus points if it canonized him being a repatriate #it’d make a really good sci-fi political thriller/horror #i would vaporize in my seat if it cold opened with higgs saying 'once there was an explosion...' but now i'm just being self-indulgent #death stranding #death stranding movie #death stranding a24 #higgs monaghan #logan.txt

answering this in english since it touches on the Janka lore 💥💥💥

although the comic idea was there more for the laughs, there's a significant difference between Giewont and Janka when it comes to relationships with people. The first one used to be a hard worker but got betrayed by humanity. They're wandering around, with no place on this earth, scared of what being around people will do to her. Forming meaningful connection is hard and they're not even sure if they really want to do that.

on the other hand we have Janka, designed to look nice, to be amiable. she's always there to listen. she knows your favourite songs and brightens your day. she can't leave you unless you get rid of her yourself!

i think it's an idea that would need some more exploration. people who are lost or lonely or angry or searching for whatever feeling they need in their life try to find a thing to bestow those feelings upon. and sometimes it ended up being Janka. whether or not the feeling was reciprocated or not, or if they've seen her as an object or as a person - that's a question for another time

#i was thinking about what may happened with some of the people she was close with #since she communicated in songs i imagine a scenario where she met a singer who was eager to write songs for her she could use to speak #simple phrases incomporated into lyrics like 'i love you' 'i miss you' 'please stay a bit longer'#but after a while she noticed some phrases were missing. there was never a 'you've hurt me“ but an ”i'm sorry you had to do that“#“you're to good for me to be true” instead of “you never treat me like a person”#“i can't stand a moment without you” instead of “please leave me alone”#the singer may have proclaimed love but did they really love Janka or just the adorations parroted back to them in their own voice?#amazing how you can make others bend to your will when you're the one writing the script they have to follow. but is it love? is it?#yeah sorry i got carried away. also sorry for responding so late i was out of town 😔🙏#Janka and her 7 evil exes (and 10 normal ones too. i guess.)#janka spg #giewont spg #(making a wild appearance)#asks

Good fucking riddance to this job. I can't believe the amount of disrespect I've been conditioned to just put up with.

#aside from everything that happened before #I had a TON of work dumped on me overnight and my managers and the person who took over this account were fucking useless when I wanted hel #I had to reach out to one of my work friends who thankfully decided to help me out because she's awesome #everyone is also treating me pretty coldly considering that it's LITERALLY MY LAST DAY AND THEY PROBABLY WON'T SEE ME AGAIN #my friend who's in a different department who's also leaving is being treated way more kindly #the only people who seem sad about me leaving are a few of my work friends #and the national account managers who I worked very closely with #the NAMs actually DID make me feel like I'll be missed and that I was a valued worker #with everyone else it's like I'm barely here #unless they want something from me #like sorry it's just really hard NOT to feel bitter and hurt over this when I already have a lot of trauma from being excluded #whatever I should be happy they're making it easier for me to leave #personal

uh oh they're starting to make choices in an adaptation of a book that I am not agreeing with!

#A Gentleman in Moscow #They totally rewrote the character of Mishka and his relationship to Sasha #In the book they are close friends despite of (or even bc of) their different backgrounds #And they're like brothers. It's a really heartwarming relationship and imo makes mishka's fate that much more impactful #But here they are former friends who were torn apart bc Mishka loved Sasha's sister #And Sasha stood in the way of their love bc he didn't believe Mishka could marry as a non-nobleman #And I'm sorry but that doesn't seem true to his character AT ALL #It feels like too black-and-white to add this blatantly classist attitude to him #Even tho yes he was an aristocrat and Mishka wasn't. I just don't think this is something Sasha would do.#It feels like a primitive move to make them have a rift bc of a 'forbidden love' thing. Idk what is even the point #Just let them be friends who are struggling with different things #Still holding on to that optimism I had at the start of this show. I am going to enjoy it DESPITE these edits. I AM.

I've watched 3 episodes of Black Sails tonight, and I had to stop myself from watching a 4th. I blame @transgods for this, but I'm not mad about it, aksjdaskdjas.

Character opinion update: I'm fucking fascinated by Anne. I need to know more about her, and fast. John is a prick, but he's an amusing one, so it works. I still hate Vane, but that's kind of the point. Mr. Guthrie sucks and I would like to stab him. I'm still invested in Flint and Silver and Billy, and love all three of them. Oh and Eleanor. I love Eleanor. She's stubborn as hell, and we all know I love stubborn characters. Especially those who are so stubborn it just might ruin them. And I hope so bad that Max gets to murder people. Yk, as a treat. She deserves the world.

And, of course, this show is providing me with entirely too much information about pirates and sailing, which is a bad thing because it only fuels my daydreaming about Rook's time as a pirate, both past and potential future.

#I haven't gotten there yet not even close but it's this show's fault that Rook might get keelhauled if Wolf gets her hands on him again.#which I must admit now I'm really hoping she does.#I'm so sorry Rook.
