Can’t remember what was the premise for this and I’m too lazy to make a decent comic out of it, so just have this poorly digitalized railao doodle I found in my sketchbook, y’all can add any context you want~
I posted some Kung Lao and mk1 Kung Jin headcanons earlier, so now I think I’ll drop railao thoughts too. Nothing too crazy - I prefer to read/hear about other’s hc more than to think about them myself afgHjHh
- Raiden fell first, but Kung Lao fell harder.
- Lao did confess first tho. After the mk1 events and some chill time together they both realized that they can't stand being separated and stressed about the other’s safety.
- They used to have these red-string “lucky bracelets” when they were kids but stopped wearing them in middle school (prob lost them or because it wasn’t “cool” anymore hah). Later, after mk1 when they officially started dating, they got a pair of matching ones, as a substitute for the wedding rings. 😊 (now go find all of them on my railao art 👀)
- Right now (mk1 and right after) Raiden’s hair is longer than Lao’s, but Lao is growing his hair out so in the future he’ll be rocking that one long-ass braid we all love. 🥰 Also he has no idea how to style hair besides the ponytail and a simple braid, so sometimes Raiden will do his hair for him as soon as it grows long enough.
- Since childhood Raiden collects cool rocks he found around the village and sometimes he gives them to Lao. I suspect that Raiden is a penguin.
- When Lao noticed that the flower petals have a strange tendency to follow him everywhere, he began collecting them and leaving in various places, including Raiden’s home and school desk. After they got together, the petals would follow Raiden on their own volition every time the two are separated. 🌸
- Lao began to pierce his ears right after the school graduation and Raiden thinks he looks cool, but he did only one piercing per ear for himself much later. Although I'm starting to dig Novice’s idea that he can’t wear them because of his lightning powers. 🤔
- Raiden calls Kung Lao just “Lao” or “my Lao” (but not in a “professional setting”, like on missions or in front of people who are not considered their friends). Kung Lao loves giving Raiden cheesy nicknames.
- Lao is so passionate in his affection, he’s borderline aggressive, he kisses and hugs like it’s their last time. Raiden is more sensual and a fan of prolonged physical touch, like holding hands for the whole day.
- Kung Lao is a professional shit talker and yapper, Raiden just nods and listens. He remembers everything tho, even if it’s something ridiculous that Lao himself will forget after five minutes.
- Lao actually can cook at a reasonable level. I also think he’s very creative and resourceful and can make a decent meal from a limited number of ingredients.
- A relatively new follow-up hc inspired by this tt and personal experience discussion with D3rpy: Kung Lao eats like a vacuum cleaner and can’t stand people wasting food because when he was a kid his family had a rough few years when they could barely afford enough food. And although things have changed for the better, it’s a habit now, he’s like a stray animal - you can’t waste food when you don’t know when you’ll eat next. Also this is when he got closer to Raiden’s family, hanging out in his house more often.

Family + Background:
Marriage isn't the biggest thing to him but it will come around eventually.
He seems like he'd take things slow but because he's real into you, he speeds into things.
So it might be faster than you'd expect.
I don't think anyone has ever seen him get this way so everyone would become very aware of this change in behavior.
He if he comes to the point of being "in love" then he'd decided to move away from his brothers and family because he doesn't want them involved.
He finds it best to have them be seperate.
However, with the influence of woman that he loves he may be inclined to take responsibility and take care of Vampire Kingdom.
So he may infact have you move into the demon world which puts himself at a distance with his brothers.
But more than likely, given that he is rather selfish its more practical that he'd leave such a tolling responsibility on someone like his brother Reiji to take care of.
Shu would take the job of being a politician like his father did in the human world as an image in order to blend in society.
its quite easy is all is handed down to you.
He'd be quiet lousy tho and make his familiars do everything.
Never tells his kids anything about his family.
Number of kids:
Two kids, one boy, one girl. And believe me, it is enough for him.
Probably only a year or two apart.
I think the kids really made him get his act together and not be an apathetic teen.
I mean already to care for someone truly he isn't going to be his lazy self because has something to look forward to which is something he's been stripped from for the longest time.
I think children would change him if the woman he has them with is someone he cares for.
Household:
There isn't much to say.
When he met you and had kids, he became more active, moved out, and started a life with you.
He moved to somewhere relaxing away from everything, and you two have a girl and boy, so you have a perfect family.
Sometimes you have to nudge him to not be freaking lazy.
He is a lazy father, but surprisingly he does things, but only cause he cares.
Loves talking to his kids about their interests and how they have a lot of opportunity and time to be free of responsibility.
He's mostly carefree and leaves the work of disciplining them to you.

Family + Background:
Would be the first to move away from his brothers.
For a while, you stayed with him, but after a while, you both thought about living away from his family, given everything.
He'd mainly leave if they posed as a threat, which realistically, they do.
And given he wants the best for his lady, he'd move away in a heartbeat. which
In fact, in one of the games, he moved out and picked a house for him and Yui to live in because he wanted to "start a life with her."
And you could imagine he obviously proposed first because he's very old fashioned.
It was one night you both had come home from a ball and removed your jewelry in front of your mirror.
He came up behind you planting kisses on your shoulder and up your neck, all the once while you were distracted he slipped a ring on your finger and spoke in a low voice, "Marry me, Y/n."
"Reiji?"
"Say that you'll be my bride." He'd whisper, kissing you on the lips.
I will hint at the fact that there were times where he did tease you about getting married.
"I don't understand what you're asking me."
"Woman, I am asking you to be my bride, is it not obvious?"
"Are you being serious?"
"Silly girl, do you think I'd ask you like this? I needed you to stop crying this was the only way . . . full discourse, I would have asked much differently, my dear." He grinned, amused by your reaction.
"You shouldn't mess with me like that!" You scoffed.
"Oh no? You're quite charming when confused."
Number of kids:
You two had a wonderful little girl, and boy, the boy came first. And Reiji wouldn't be opposed to another child. Preferably another daughter.
Which is probably along the way or in his plans, knowing him.
After three I would say he is quite complete.
Reiji sometimes hints at a another child being a possibility for the two of you.
"There's always been room for another, my dear."
"Are you saying we should have another?"
"Perhaps." He'd smirk.

The most sophisticated and elegant family.
Anyone would deem you all as greatly intelligent and stunning.
Seriously, this is a family filled with good looks, so you are both well known for your children's success and strong resemblance to you both.
With Reiji, you both decided to have a place of your own and start a family, which is exactly what happened.
You two moved far away from his brothers and bought an elegant home.
Reiji planned out what street he'd want to live on, the house in particular, and if it had a special aspect of the interior which you once brought up. He'd make sure the house would have that view or courtyard you had mentioned, or that wide window you loved looking out of.
But that is something you love about him; he plans for things he cares for.
He is great at helping you with the kids, and you leave educating, and cooking to him because you know how he feels about it.
Although you try to help, he will argue with you sometimes, mostly about harmless things.
But when it comes to disciplining your kids, it can be a war of disagreement, especially because he lets his daughter get away with things, and he is harder on his son.
So this requires you to intervene all the time.
Though it is cute to see older Reiji and little Reiji argue.
But it's even cuter to see them work together.
Laito:
Family + Background:
Didn't give making a family so much of a thought. It was not on his agenda.
So he didn't think about moving out or anything.
The only thing that changed him about it was you both having a child unexpectedly.
At first, it seemed surreal, but the more he saw his stomach grow in the process, he started to think about it and soon realized it wasn't a dream.
It was very real, and he needed to be ready.
He was involved; he just didn't know what all of it was going to be/look like.
So it took some time, but he was interested and was happy to be a father because he actually loved this woman.
Although even if he had kids with a bride, he would enthusiastic about it because I think he is fascinated by it, but he later loses interest as well.
But because he is attached to his partner, it is much different. He is quite moved and is eager to see the child.
If he is worried about his father or someone else being a threat, he'll move away.
But knowing Laito, he will probably just stay with his family since there technically is enough room. But he does leave that decision up to you.
Number of kids:
He'd have two twin girls and then another little girl. So three little girls.
I don't think he really wanted a boy because he's had enough boys in the family.
Plus, I think it may have to do with trauma reasons that he doesn't want to have a son.
I also think he'd have a stronger attachment to a daughter then he would a son.
I'm so betting that the girls all have ginger hair, or that each one looks like him or one of his full blood-related brothers because genes work in mysterious ways, you know.
Plus, I think that would be interesting to see
Household:
A fun family with a chaotic bunch of three girlies.
It can be a handful since they are very close in age.
But you two make the most of it.
In terms of living in the human or demon world, he'd probably live in the human world just cause his father is usually in the demon world.
Kanato:
Family + Background:
This wasn't easy, and it was definitely unexpected.
Although, with someone he loves, he'd put everything aside and be soft with you.
This is actually something he really likes.
It would definitely move away as soon as the child was born.
He'd take no chances and have you live with his family.
After all no one paid much attention to him in the first place why should he stay?
He'd leave in heartbeat and travel around with you to find the perfect home for just the two of you, which would soon be the three of you.
He mostly made the plans because he liked surprising you.
Number of kids:
You'd have just one. He couldn't imagine putting you through that again.
As much he loved seeing you go through your pregnancy, he didn't want you to go through all the pain that comes with labor.
It would be a baby girl, for sure. Seeing him be gentle with a daughter would be so adorable.
especially because he'd sew her dresses.
Household:
A quiet and small family, but its all the two of you could ask for.
It means a lot to both of you to watch your daughter grow.
He wants the best for both of the women he loves in his life.
Is quite protective of you both and makes sure his family is not included in one single conversation.
Ayato:
Family + Background:
He hasn't figured out anything.
And he was a nervous wreck at first
Now he just kinda chills around.
Never really knows what the next plan is.
It would take his brothers to get him to think about it.
He'd also need your input on this to figure it all out.
eventually he'd come to the idea where you both would stay at the mansion. That is until too many kids came into the second picture.
Number of kids:
About three to four (mostly boys), with the second kid, his brothers told him he needed to get it together and move out lol.
so he did, because the fam was just getting too big he needed his own place with you and after some searching and planning you got it to work and moved out.
Although he does visit his bros still.
Household:
It's chaotic, especially if he is taking care of the kids.
He has a lot to learn, but he is fun.
He gets them into sports and is a kid himself.
You constantly call to make sure nothing crazy happens.
Subaru:
Family + Background:
You both would find your own place and definitely wouldn't stay with his brothers.
He'd want to be away from his family.
It's mostly cause he doesn't really like them.
And he wants it to be far from them.
And honestly just isolated from people.
Number of kids:
You had your own place by this point so it wasn't a big deal.
He'd probably really only want one at the most. (a girl)
He doesn't want a big family, I mean he can hardly see himself being a good father to one, let alone many.
Household:
It's quiet and small, but it's a good thing.
You both are able to raise your kid calmly if you have one.
you rely on each other, and that's about it.
Kino:
Family + Background:
Similar to Ayato, he would definitely not be sure of what he wants to do. He probably just does whatever you want to do since he doesn't really care.
Is more of a go-with-the-flow type, and kinda handles stuff last minute.
You are probably doing most of the thinking.
He didn't even think about family or getting his own place with you; he's just not focused on it.
Number of kids:
one because he counts as another kid.
It is boy for sure because he needed a buddy to keep himself busy and not to always bug you, lol.
He is so chaotic and teaches his son so many pranks and its just messed up.
Household:
Its a mess, you constantly have to worry about both of them.
Its a like a second kid and you just get so annoyed at Kino sometimes.
But he does keep the kid busy and learns a lot.
He gets better with more experience but he's also just all over the place.
One thing he got his kid into is gaming for sure.
Carla:
Family + Background:
He told you to stay in the castle with him and his brother since it is big and there is plenty of room.
He does think about if you will have kids, after he's married you.
Carla asked you to stay with him and build a life with him.
"I want to be the reason I stay, Y/n. Be with me."

He has many plans, some to which he shares, others of which he is still unsure of.
It was quite peaceful for a while, though.

Once you had kids, probably one boy or two girls.
Though he wants an heir, he definitely would love to have a daughter.
He'd have so much planned for his kids, and he was happy to have them with you.
It's probably the happiest he's ever been.

You are still at the mansion since there is plenty of room.
A lovely and quiet family but also classy.
Your children have both of your looks.
The boy would be like Carla's twin.

It wasn't often that your dear friend Jamie invited you over to his home. Your little group often spent time at Sunwoo's (who prefers to be called Jett) house or showed up at Ryo's uninvited. He was always too lazy to host or feared disturbing his roommate, but today he wanted for you all to play a console game he just bought.
You sat on the floor in front of Jett, who was on the couch battling against Ryo. You watched the game on the screen as you awaited your turn, as Jamie came from the kitchen with more snacks. Jett was currently losing, yelling and leaning into Ryo in hopes of throwing his game. You laughed before looking at your brown haired friend who sat on the floor next to you.
"We're not bothering your roommate are we?"
"Nah, I don't think he's home right now."
After about another hour of playing the game and eating junk food, you needed to use the bathroom. Setting your controller down you looked over to Jamie, asking for directions to the bathroom.
"It's down the hall, first door to the right."
You nodded, getting up and going on your way to find the toilet. You stopped in front of a closed door, pushing it open to reveal NOT a bathroom. You look around, taking in the room. It was well lit, the walls decorated with paintings in various sizes. In the center of the room was an easel, and a man standing in front of it who's gaze seemed to have shifted from the piece in front of him to you. He was wearing comfortable clothes protected by an apron, a paintbrush in one hand and palette in the other.
"Oh uh- Sorry. You must be Jamie's roommate, I was just looking for the bathroom."
He offers you a small smile before returning to his work.
"No worries, it's one door over."
From where you stood you couldn't really tell what he had been painting, but what you could tell was that the man himself was a piece of art. He had beautiful purple eyes and sharp features that you could almost believe he were a marble statue come to life. After taking him and the room in for a little longer you spoke up once again.
"Your art is very beautiful."
He looks up and smiles at you again before responding.
"Thanks. I'm working on pieces for my portfolio, though I don't think anything I paint could compare to your beauty."
You were left speechless as you felt the tip of your ears burn.
"O-oh. Thank you. I'll be- uh- going now..." You stuttered out, before turning and going back to your original task.
Find and use the bathroom.
After doing your business, you returned back downstairs to find that your friends switched to watching a movie.
"Geez, you took forever in there!" Jett complains.
"Did you take a shit or something?" Ryo asks, scrunching his face up at you.
The other two laugh at his statement before you give a response.
"I don't see how any of that is your business," you huffed. Instead of rejoining your companions in the living room, you make your way into the kitchen. There was a magnetic basket stuck to the side of the fridge with pens, some memo pads and sticky notes in them. You grabbed one of the sticky notes and a pen and begin to write your note. You look around for a place to set it as your eyes land on a coffee machine.
Bingo
The machine must belong to your friend's mysterious and attractive roommate, as you knew your friend didn't really enjoy coffee all that much.
You stuck the note on the bottom of a mug sitting underneath the machine before setting it back in place and finally returning to the living room.

The next morning, Li made his way towards the kitchen for his daily cup of coffee. He would be headed off to class soon and needed a bit of caffeine to start the day. Jamie had already been up, also about to leave for class. After brewing his coffee and picking up his mug, ne noticed a yellow corner of a sticky note peeking out from the bottom.
Peeling the note off, confused, he brought it up to eye level to read.
"If you ever need a muse (or wanna go out :D) call me~ XXX-XXX-XXXX (Jamie's Bathroom Friend)"
A light blush dusted his face at the note. This had to have been left by his roommates attractive friend yesterday. He was so distracted buy the number written in front of him that he didn't notice Jamie peeking over his shoulder.
"That's why they took so long in the bathroom! Hah, looks like one of my best mates likes you."
The man gave his flat mate a firm pat on the back before going about his day. The light blush on Li's face darkened in embarassment at the realization Jamie had seen what was written. Drinking his coffee, he sat down and put the note in his pocket.
He would have to put the number in his phone later.

. as the leader of apeiron, SIX is a very busy man. therefore, you would need to be patient and understanding towards him if he has a meeting or simply needs time alone.

g1 season is upon us! i'm too lazy to gif every match myself! the world needs gifmakers like you! yes you!
this guide includes: basic gifmaking, actions, how to blur on-screen graphics, coloring tips catered specifically to wrestling footage (mainly aew and njpw), how to add subtitles, what tags to use
what you will need:
photoshop (i currently use cc 2017 for windows which you can grab from this post by birdysources)
kmplayer (for extracting frames)
what you might need depending on what you're looking to gif:
4k video downloader (for downloading videos off youtube)
vkopt (browser extension that lets you download videos off vk)
step 1: getting the footage
if you're directly downloading from a site this step is super easy. just make sure to always go for the highest quality of footage available (for njpw this is nowhere near 1080p, and even aew's 1080p footage is pixelated in places—but don't let this deter you!)
if you plan on giffing something off a ppv, chances are you might need to torrent the event. if you can, look for versions off fite with either web or webrip in the title for the best quality. this applies to weekly television too (fite doesn't have picture-in-picture). always seed your torrents. yes, even that one match from 2012. especially that one
you can also get recent shows off watchprowrestling dot co (previously org) which includes njpw tour shows and indie events as well. check out indy★wrestling★group on vk for smaller promotions and japanese promotions outside of njpw (tjpw, stardom, noah...)
step 2: choosing a clip
wrestling footage quality is not consistent. entrances with too many flashing lights or small particles will have huge quality drops, so unless it's something really special, don't put yourself through that. close-ups are generally your best friend but don't shy away from clips with lots of movement (you do sometimes want to gif the wrestling parts of wrestling too)
step 3: extracting frames
open your video in kmplayer. go to the part that you want to gif (though, i suggest leaving a bit of fodder before and after the actual clip. you can always trim the frames down later and it's better to start off with more). then, press ctrl + g
this should bring up this window:
your settings might be different if it's your first time downloading the app so just copy what you see here
kmplayer automatically captures into its own folder, which you can change if you want, but i just left it as is. i recommend pinning the folder you regularly use to the quick access menu in your file explorer
hit start, start the video, let it capture frames for however long, and then hit stop on both the extractor and the video itself. and now you have a bunch of frames in a folder. cool!
step four: converting frames to layers
open photoshop. this will take ages but open it. go to file -> scripts -> load files into stack...
this will bring up this window:
click browse... and select all the frames you just extracted. depending on the number of frames, this might take you a bit. then hit ok and let your layers load into photoshop. this will take a long time (saying this as someone whose laptop tends to heat up to the temperature of an egg pan at this point in the process)
step five: actions
i use actions (user-built series of recorded commands, meaning you don't have to click everything manually) for everything except coloring. i use a mishmash of like three different actions that i never bothered to organize. these are the two most important ones:
actionpack #1 by giulia (i use the setup and save portions from this one)
squishmoon actions by lildohnut (i use the hd sharpening from here, first layer on 0.3 for close-ups and 0.2 otherwise, and the second layer at the suggested 50%)*
*most sharpening settings you'll find are made for current films and tv shows so you do have to make some adjustment to fit your crunchy wrestling footage
step six: sizing
pick a size for your gif! here is a handy chart:
as for height, it can range anywhere from 300px-540px and beyond. most people go for 350px-450px. 400px is the sweet spot
personal preference: adjust canvas size not image size and fit your footage accordingly. some footage (looking at you aew) can have an odd black bar at the bottom, and manual resizing can help getting rid of it. if you just resize the whole image that will stay there and bother you
additional tip: guidelines
9/10 times you will leave your footage centered. however, there are times when this can look a bit awkward, depending on the framing, in which case i like bringing in a few guidelines. go to view -> new guide layout...
rule of thirds is generally good for drawing the eye to certain places. these settings will divide your canvas into nine squares that help you reposition your main gif layer
optional step: blurring pop-up graphics and banners
so, you have your sharpened, resized gif... but the sharpening made the small text and other unwanted elements on your screen shrivel up like raisins. you can leave it as is, people won't mind, it's a wrestling gif, who cares. but, if you want, you can just blur it out
i'm at least a little bit certain that i'm personally the guy who brought this over from k-pop tumblr (not saying i invented the concept, i just love being a trendsetter) and so i can give you a few reasons as to why people do this. such as:
adding subtitles over pre-existing, burnt subtitles (example: njpw post-match comments off njpwworld and not youtube)
getting rid of elements that might distract people from the focal point of the gif (the hotties... and the moves. mostly the hotties)
it makes your otherwise milquetoast sharpening look a little better in contrast
it's gonna be ugly either way so it's a pick your poison type of situation. if you do want to try the blurring method, you will need a basic knowledge of filters and layer masks
step-by-step blurring process:
duplicate your gif layer
blur the layer on top (i typically go for a 4.0 gaussian blur; for this, go to filter -> blur -> gaussian blur...)
apply a layer mask to the blurred layer and make the layer mask black (this will remove the blur effect, don't be scared). to access the layer mask just click on it. you can press alt before clicking to "enter" the layer mask (though you won't see your gif this way)
go in with a soft round brush (or any brush) with white and draw over the bits you want blurred. this is the tedious part
profit?
here's a comparison:
it's really down to personal preference ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و
i convert my base gif layer and the blurred layer into a smart object before moving on with my process because sometimes photoshop likes to do this thing where it only applies the blur to the frame you're on. you can avoid this by combining the layers manually
if you're working with njpw footage and your clip plus coloring combination allows you to, you can also just go over the banner with black and blend it into the background. it's by far the best option but there's so rarely an opportunity to utilize it (i did it in the little header i made... go back and look at how beautiful she is)
step six: coloring
the big one. oh boy. prefacing this with: you can just skip coloring if you want. the sharpening settings i recommended earlier give a nice contrast to the gifs as is, so if it looks fine like that, you don't need any fancy colors. that being said...
my thought process going into coloring is to focus on skin tones and adjust everything around them. i don't tend to use psds, i always just manually color correct based on the actual footage i'm working with (venues differ, lighting differs, hues differ... incredibly hard to plan for all of it in advance). if i plan on making multiple gifsets of the same event/match, i do re-use settings, but sometimes minor adjustments are still needed
to begin coloring, you will need to use adjustment layers. you will pretty much need a basic knowledge of all of them (to the extent of knowing what the sliders and values do)
[1] i always begin with an exposure layer. this will remain above all of your layers (unless you plan on adding subtitles). here are my settings:
again, every layer you add after this will go below your exposure layer
[2] i add a selective color layer to further adjust the blacks. this will vary gif to gif but keep your adjustments small
[3] i add a vibrance layer. wrestling footage has major saturation problems that you can manage early on to make your life easier. take back a tiny bit (usually from -3 to -5) of vibrance before you begin your other color adjustments
[4] this is the big skin tone adjustment step using a curves layer. it does most of the heavy-lifting in my process. here is a video tutorial that explains the technique i use. it works the same with gifs as it does with images. the key differences are:
the image you are color picking off of shouldn't be a limited skin tone chart but rather an image of the wrestler(s) in natural (or as close to natural as you can find) lighting. i just go for renders used on the roster page. fan photography is way too edited to use here
try picking from a darker area of skin (shadows, midtones). it fits better with match lighting
this step will most likely correct color tints, but keep in mind that different promotions/shows/venues have different lighting. here are my personal observations:
aew dynamite and rampage have strong magenta tints
aew collision and roh honor club have strong red tints
njpw has a washed out blue tint
impact has a strong green tint
you can either lean into these (play around with making them really vibrant) or cancel them out using opposites on the color wheel (for example: to get rid of the magenta tint on dynamite, either decrease the magenta slider in your neutrals using selective color or add more green using color balance)
you will almost always have to add more cyan as well (either using color balance or channel mixer; channel mixer can also help you fine-tune skin tones with its blue tab—don't get rid of yellow undertones!)
[5] here is where i start fiddling around with manual adjustments that i seriously can't help you with... just add layers and change colors until you think it feels right. don't be afraid to start over if needed
[6] finishing touches! if you're like me you will have overcolored in the previous step. don't be afraid to add a saturation layer and decrease specifically the saturation of the reds (this will affect the skin tone; if you feel like you're on the right track but it's just too orange-looking, it's a saturation issue)
i also tend to add a black & white layer below the exposure layer up top set to soft light and lowered to 10% opacity. this gives you a bit of additional contrast that pulls the final gif together in my opinion
optional step: adding subtitles and watermarks
always add text layers above your coloring!
[1] subtitles
the font i use for subtitles is arial rounded mt bold, which you can download for free here. the point of subtitles is for them to be readable, so feel free to use any other font as long as it can be read with ease (nothing too thin or too blocky). if you plan on using the font i use, make sure to set it on faux bold and faux italics
font size differs based on the size of your gif, but it should normally be between 17pt and 23pt. i like to keep my tracking (letter-spacing) the same as my font size (so for 21pt subtitles i would have the tracking also at 21). i keep leading (the space between multiple lines of text) 3pt or 4pt
if there are two people speaking, i like setting the second speaker's text color to #ffd300. this is a generic yellow caption color that is still easy to read
after you have your basic text done, right click on your layer to add blending options. adding a stroke and a drop shadow can further help bring your text to the foreground. I keep my stroke (hah) at a simple 1px black. here are my drop shadow settings:

as for placement i add a horizontal guide at 95% and put my text on top of the line (while also keeping it centered vertically)
[2] watermarks
i personally don't use watermarks because i just don't care to, but if you want to add one, the same general ideas apply. just lower the opacity of your text layer at the end (if you want... again, a watermark is personalized)
step seven: timing
this is where you'll have to convert your video timeline back to a frame animation!
delete the frames that you don't need and then set a consistent timing (click on your first frame and shift + click on your last one to select all of your frames before adjusting). i like my gifs at 0.04, but depending on the footage you can go for 0.03 (newer bte episodes) or 0.05 (this also works if you don't have enough frames and want your gif a bit slower)
step eight: exporting
go to file -> export -> save for web (legacy)...
here are my export settings:
make sure to keep your gif under 10mb! if your file exceeds 10mb, you can't upload it to tumblr. you either have to cut some more frames or add compression to your gif (something i would never do, i always just cut frames)
additional tip: tagging
you have your gif! but how do you get people to actually look at it?
i always tag wrestlers* (full name, for both searchability and tag filtering purposes), promotions (initialisms like #aew over #all elite wrestling; if it's a more generic promotion name i.e. impact, go for #impact wrestling), tracked edit tags (#aewedit, #njpwedit; this not only helps source blogs find your posts and give them a bigger reach but it lets you browse other people's works). if you want to go the extra mile you can also include which event/video the gifset is from somewhere in your tags (if it's not already in the caption)
*even if you feel like it personally hurts you to tag that one wrestler you can't stand who happens to be in a match with your fave: do try tagging all wrestlers involved for ease of filtering, especially if you don't add image descriptions to your gifsets (tumblr's post content filtering system picks up on those)
general tumblr etiquette but don't cross-tag (i.e. tag a wwe gifset as #aew). no one likes cross-taggers. crossover events are exempt from this rule of course (forbidden door, multiverse united...)
additional tip: accessibility
don't use gradient text in your captions. screen readers can't read them!
if you can, include an image description. no matter how basic. this not only helps people with screen readers but the alt text of your gif is what's going to be displayed in case the gif isn't loading properly. here's a guide on how to caption gifsets by shangs
and you're done! all that's left to do is get silly with it. once you have the basics down you can virtually do anything. you can make those pretty graphics with blending. you can gif every single match of your fave in chronological order. sky's the limit
don't be discouraged if your gifs are not "perfect" from the get-go. this is a hobby just like any other hobby, and with time you'll get better at it. don't compare yourself to others and don't put your efforts down. only you can make the exact gifs you want to see

I've been meaning to make this post for months, but I'm lazy :P
This year, I got diagnosed with bipolar 2, and going on mood stabilizers has been LIFE-CHANGING. (In the way they always told me going on antidepressants would be, only it wasn't.) I have discovered that I had a lot of (common) misconceptions about what bipolar disorder was like, which was why I struggled for at least 15 years with it and didn't get diagnosed until now. So I wanted to share a little bit about what I've learned about what bipolar disorder is REALLY like, in the hopes that other people in the same boat as me might recognize their own symptoms.
Disclaimers: I am not a mental health professional or an expert in bipolar disorder, and this is drawn from my personal experiences, which may be different from what another person with bipolar experiences.
--There are different levels of depression and of mania. Low mania, for instance, is called hypomania. While people with Bipolar 1 experience a range of emotions from mania to depression, people with Bipolar 2 experience mostly depression with occasional hypomania.
--People have a very extreme and stereotyped idea of what mania looks like, so it can be harder to recognize hypomania in particular. Things that mania/hypomania can look like:
anxiety
restlessness
insomnia
constant fidgeting
huge excitement or joy
intense creativity
intense sensory experience (colors are brighter, handsoap smells AMAZING, etc)
rage
less inhibited behavior
more spending
more risky behavior
feeling like you're finally yourself for the first time in years
--You will notice in that list that manic doesn't just mean happy. Mania is a high-energy state. That can mean high-energy happiness, high-energy anger, high-energy anxiety, etc. Depression is the low-energy side of the equation.
--You don't have to be JUST manic or JUST depressed. It's very common to have "mixed episodes" where you are both at one time. I was diagnosed years ago with "anxiety and depression"--and it turns out that that was probably actually a bipolar mixed state. A lot of people with classic depression talk about having no energy, having trouble getting out of bed, etc, but I always had the kind of depression where I felt despairing but also high-energy. I was restless and anxious--and sometimes had bursts of happiness and enjoyment in the middle and then went back to being depressed again.
--Bipolar can feel like mood swings. Your moods are intense and they can change quickly. I have had a psychiatrist tell me that you know it's bipolar when your mood changes for no reason. This may be true for some people, but for me, I could almost always attribute my mood change to SOMETHING. "I feel bad because of that thing somebody said to me" or "I feel bad because I'm lonely" or "I feel anxious because my stomach is upset". So that wasn't a helpful indicator for me, but the presence of the mood swings was. Some people also try to say that you have to be in a manic or depressive state for a certain number of days in order to qualify as bipolar--but if you're having mixed episodes like I was, all bets are off as to how long a mood is going to last.
--It's very common for people with bipolar disorder to have sleep problems: sleeping too much, sleeping too little, or both. I go right to sleep at bedtime, but then I wake up in the middle of the night, lie awake for an hour, and then go back to sleep. I have done this regularly for literally 15 years.
--A really good sign of having bipolar disorder is if trying a new antidepressant makes you manic/hypomanic. This doesn't always happen to people with bipolar disorder trying an antidepressant, but it certainly can.
My experience with antidepressants is that sometimes they seemed to work a bit for awhile, but in the long run, they really didn't work. One antidepressant that I tried made me FURIOUSLY ANGRY, so much so that it scared me and I had to get off the med after a week (the rage was a hypomanic state). One antidepressant that I tried made me so unbearably anxious that I took it ONCE and never again (that anxiety was also a hypomanic state). I took an antidepressant once that worked PERFECTLY for two months, and then suddenly stopped, and never worked again (happy hypomania, mood-swinging back to depressed again). What finally tipped us off that my problem was bipolar disorder was when I tried a new antidepressant and it made me feel AMAZING and then it wore off and I got super-depressed again... and then we raised the dose and I felt AMAZING and then it wore off, and... Meanwhile, I was happier than I had ever been before, I started a new hobby of collecting bonkers earrings, I started dressing in eye-burning rainbow colors, I was far more confident than I had ever been, I spent more (not way too much, but more) than usual... That is the kind of hypomanic/manic state that most people recognize as such, which is how I finally got diagnosed.
I will add on tomorrow or so with some stories about episodes that I recognize in retrospect were from my bipolar disorder, but I don't want to make this post longer than it already is! I will just add: If any of this sounds like you, I strongly encourage you to talk to a doctor about trying mood stabilizers. Maybe they won't do anything for you--but then at least you'll KNOW. I have a sneaking suspicion that just like C-PTSD is wildly underdiagnosed, bipolar disorder probably is, too.

you click save and stretched your arms, you saw your best friend, a writer like you lying on your bed. he's a one lazy author, the one who updates one chapter a month, it's would have been good if he have someone to be an inspiration.
"inspiration? i think it's the book i read these days, it's really well written." mingyu an actor and idol, who's completely smitten by an author he never met before.
he just adore your book so much, how good you put your thoughts in words, and how it was really well written. he's a fan, his own fans noticed it too of how often he reads your books and talk about it.
you're a famous author anyways, so his fans really don't give it some meaning behind, they're a fan as well. the fans actually wants to meet you in a book signing.
"are you sure you'll start your book signing this saturday?" jeonghan asked, a fellow author like you.
you're the opposites, you're an active writer, posting updates every week or every two weeks while he posts every two months or three. he's a lazy author but his pieces, such as mystery and thriller, are really brain tester.
he's good at making twists and laughs maniacally every time his reader loses their mind. "you're not gonna run away from it, aren't you?" jeonghan laughs, pointing at you with suspicion in his eyes.
"i wanna run away." you said, "i'm nervous, what if they thought i am pretty but i'm actually not?! the disappointment, it's pressuring me!"
"hehe."
"don't hehe me, you maniac!" you threw your scratch paper at him as he rolls on your bed with pillows in his arms. "okay, okay. i'll give you pro tips, don't ever give your number to your fans whoever they might be. they won't stop texting or calling you." jeonghan said nodding his head with his eyes close, as if he's making a good point and tip.
"oh? that's probably based on experience."
"it's that fanboy who loves pizza who posted my number on his twitter account, then my fans called me until i changed my number." jeonghan defended himself, he felt betrayed trusting that innocent looking infp boy who loves pizza.
"it was recommended by my co-actor, wonwoo. he loves reading even when we're in the set while doing make-up or free time. he read books everywhere." mingyu laughs, looking at the comments.
"are u going in their book signing this saturday?"
"they have book signing this week?!" mingyu asked immediately snatching his phone to search up your pen name. his eyes widened looking at the infos.
"woah, is he that busy to miss the news of his favourite author?"
"i hope the author's a guy!"
"i'm pretty sure the author is a girl, amazing fictional men are often written by woman."
he stood up and walked out of the frame to celebrate behind the scene, his fans already knew what he's doing though, they expected it from him. "i'm back, ehem i don't know if i could attend it tho i have a really tight schedule."
"what do you mean you have tight schedule when you lie on my bed everyday?!" you exclaimed at jeonghan, which he just laughs about. he doesn't want to come with you in your book signing.
"think about it, they've seen me before, it would be a scandal if they saw us together the next time. you don't know how the people thinks," jeonghan said.
"so you'll abandon me alone??..." your voice fading away, putting away the books on your table as he follows you explaining his side.
"hehe." you giggled, walking beside jeonghan, you're both on your way to the event area. he still come along with you, he felt guilty since it's your first time holding a book signing event and you're his bestfriend.
"don't giggle, it's not funny," he scoffs under his mask, he's disguised like a staff of the event despite his disguise though, some recognized him.
"i look good don't i?" mingyu asked his manager who sighed tiredly at him, "you do know your schedule is still packed yet you slip your so-called 'important event' into your sched?"
"i do know" mingyu smiled confidently.
you ready your smile asking your bestfriend if it looks good yet he laughs at you, "it's alright, if they don't like it then frown at them" he jokes while fixing his cap.
"hmm, what was that? there's a lot of people there, look" jeonghan pointed at the black car with girls surrounding it.
"oh come on, don't tell me there's a famous person there, they'll steal my readers!" you gasp, looking disappointed already.
jeonghan assured you that it'll not happen pushing you inside the event hall before the fans gets in, you fix yourself after a few minutes you see a lot of people holding a book written by you walking inside.
it's starting.
after your name is called, you walk into the stage hearing loud cheers and clap as well as shock reactions from the crowd, your thoughts is just about running away, did they thought you're a guy and is disappointed that you're not? do they thought you're ugly?
you look around the crowd seeing a tall guy holding his phone with a written phrase "you look pretty, smile"
you immediately smiled and nod, some of the audience looks at where you nodded, still cheering at you. there's quick interview as a introduction and you think you did good it seems going well.
it's finally time to sign the books, a teenager still wearing a uniform stand in front of you holding out two of your books, "i want to buy more of your books but my allowance only allows me to buy two. i really like your works,"
her cheeks are red as she smiles at you, you smiled, "i'll upload soft copies so you can read it without spending money," you said signing the books.
you bid goodbye to her as the people keeps moving forward, they're a lot to be honest. you always look around to see if your friend is still there, of course he is. but he's chilling with his phone at the side.
finally it's the tall guy earlier. "hello—oh it's my debut book" your eyes lit up. "the first story i wrote." you laughed. "you're a good writer, i admire you" he said his voice is quite attractive and familiar.
"your name?" you smiled after writing your signature. "kim mingyu" he answered. you tilted your head and write it down despite thinking about the actor, someone you know named like it.
"..."
"i expected you would be a girl but i'm still shock and starstruck." he laughs nervously, "you sound like someone i heard before."
"your boyfriend?"
"yea—huh?" her eyes widened, how can you not noticed, are your eyes playing tricks. no way your actor boyfriend will come here risking his career and time. "w-what are you doing here?" you whispered.
"i'm a fan," he said.
after that exchange, you know a lot of people recognized him, he left after taking an autograph from you against his will he needed to leave immediately.
"oh no—" he's posted in the social media attending your fansign, "oh— it's alright! they didn't mention that we might be dating, thank god!" you sighed in relief, but he's pouting like a kid.
you're facetiming him, but all he does is murmur and talk about how there's nothing wrong with being mistaken for a couple because they actually are.
"we can just tell them, they'll understand —"
"we already talked about this, mingyu. i can't just ruin your career. sure, there are still fans who'll support you, but some of them will hate you and make rumors about you that may cause your downfall."
"but—"
"you know i can't afford being the reason for your career's downfall."
"i'm not scared of downfall. i'm scared of losing my chances, i want to cherish every moment with you, every kiss, every place we go together. i want you to become comfortable being with me," his eyes looking into yours with sincerity. "can we?"
"are you sure?" you asked after a long pause.
"HEADLINE: Actor Kim Mingyu revealed on his Instagram post that he's in a healthy relationship with a book author L/N Y/N"
"love," he grabbed your hands and made you sit on his lap and kiss your lips. "don't be anxious," he laughs as he glides his hand on your back, rubbing circles to give you assurance and comfort. "we'll be fine," you whispered.
"we'll be fine," he said firmly, smiling while looking into your eyes with the most loving and comforting look in his eyes. you smiled back.
"should i use this as my new book's plot? this will sell a lot," you said, causing him to laugh.

talking about the seven deadly sins of the hellaverse
i really hope that the other deadly sins who have not yet appeared are horrible people or even worse than mammon
don't get me wrong, i loved the fact that asmodeus is consent king (it made my week when i saw it for the first time, i felt so happy!) and it was a nice surprise to know that beelzebub is friendly and cared about blitzo's well-being and appears to have no prejudice against imps and hellhounds. and lucifer just wanted to give knowledge and free will to humans and now he's working hard to be a good father
it's a great storytelling, and it makes me want to know more about the characters' pasts.
like for example, were asmodeus and beelzebub wronged in the same way as lucifer for questioning or did they actually fucked up a bit? why don't the three not explicitly appear to be the embodiment of a *sin* like mammon? they were always like this and what heaven was corrupt and unfair and distorted what really happened? have they always been open-minded with hellborns or has that changed over time? why?
i really hope that many of these questions are answered later in one of the series, it has a lot of potential and would make the characters deeper!
and now about mammon and the other sins who have not yet appeared:
i think it would be cool for the other sins to be horrible and really powerful, as a major threat
in both helluva and hazbin there are characters who are not at the top of the hierarchy and can be intimidating and change this pyramid a little, like striker and carmilla with the angelic weapons, moxxie's father's plan in s02ep06
alastor uses emotional manipulation tactics with people he knows are more powerful than him, that's how he got the deal with charlie and managed to get on lucifer's nerve in hell's greatest dad
and the whole scheme that valentino managed to do with angel to the point where he was afraid that charlie could be hurt and kicked her out of the studio (this actually deserves a post just about it in the future)
and all of this is incredible and very well done! there are other ways to be in control and have power
but i miss characters who are a threat as much as power and emotional, someone at the top of the hierarchy, at least in the hierarchy of hell
like how exorcists were feared before they discovered their weakness, or those angels that lucifer is afraid of because of what they could do to charlie in more than anything.
it makes it seem like a threat because we don't know how powerful this character is, we don't know their limits, we don't know what could happen
i think that having these two types of antagonists (those who are at the top of the hierarchy and those who can be a threat even though they are not at the top) makes the series much deeper and more complete
i'm curious about mammon's plan and i hope he's planning big things too
i also think it is more believable to also have more powerful beings who have fallen because they are genuinely bad people, and not just the sinners, overlords and hellborns who can be evil. just like in heaven there are bad people and good people
i also don't think there's a way to have a good trait in wrath and envy lol
we already have 3 sins that are not evil, and one as an antagonist, so i think it would be cool to have more villains/antagonists to be more balanced and believable
and since seven is an odd number, maybe the sin of sloth could be totally neutral, are they just too lazy to choose sides? that would be cool and funny i think xD

tig characters/couples as ts songs - rebecca and tolerate it
not only is this my favorite taylor song ever, but it's also a song rebecca would relate to. i've been wanting to make this post ever since i first read this series because i immediately thought of this song when i first met rebecca in the books. its been a while since i first read the books, but i'm currently rereading them so...
too lazy to proof read (as always)
"i notice everything you do or don't do you"
rebecca spent her entire life looking after emily from the sidelines, watching her, trying to be like her etc. she knows everything there is to know about emily, but emily doesn't know her the way she does her. not only did she never even make an effort to, but she also convinced her that, out of the two of them, she was more worth knowing. rebecca's parents grew up dotting on emily while rebecca was forced to watch them pretend her away. emily is who rebecca wishes she was.
"you're so much older and wiser and i use my best colors for your potraits... and watch you tolerate it"
emily tended to convince rebecca that she knew best, and that her needs were more important that hers. rebecca couldn't date thea because she wanted to please her sister, but what about her? although the older part doesn't apply, the way emily acted around rebecca (based on the interactions rebecca told avery about and stuff) makes me think of the way an older sister/brother might make their younger siblings feel lesser than or like their opinions don't matter. emily wasn't older, but she acted like she was, and made rebecca seem childlike (at least to me) (i can imagine her telling rebecca things like 'are you stupid, listen to me, i know what's best for you, people won't like you if you do this). emily's a master manipulator and it honestly wouldn't surprise me. rebecca clearly felt the need to prove herself to her sister. she made rebecca feel so insignificant and unworthy that not even her hair was hers. rebecca referred to it as 'out hair' when talking to avery because she can't ever have something for herself.
rebecca tended to ignore all the red flags because emily is her sister. thus, using her best colors for her portrait. emily would give her all of this advice and tell her she knew best, making rebecca sort of look up to her in a twisted, sick way. emily was so above rebecca in bec's head. not even emily's manipulations and hurtful comments and actions could change that.
rebecca felt the need to impress emily because of all of this, but emily didn't care. she was number 1, and rebecca always came second to her, no matter what. nothing rebecca did or said ever impressed her.
"i take your indiscretions all in good fun"
like i said, rebecca would ignore all of her bullshit and wrong doings because emily convinced her she was lesser than her. when you love someone so much, you tend to ignore the red flags because you don't want to admit to yourself that this person is actually no good, and you should leave them behind (like how people in abusive relationships sometimes have a hard time leaving their partner). rebecca couldn't imagine a life without emily in it.
everyone around her thought so highly of her, so why shouldn't she? if everyone else could forgive her so easily, why shouldn't she? emily's her sister, and admitting that she doesn't really see you as one and just sees you as an extension of herself is hard to admit to yourself. admitting that means accepting that you never meant anything to your own sister.
"while you were out there building other worlds where was i"
this is sort of the turning point for her. after emily's death, it became easier for her to accept that emily was a horrible person and hurt everyone around her (this is due to her seeing the destruction she caused in gray and jamie). emily got to live whilst she had to stand on the sidelines watching because "emily has a heart disease, she deserves it" or because "emily probably doesn't have long to live, but you do, so this is her time to shine". emily's death and her parents' reaction to it was sort of like a catalyst. her love for emily sort of turned into hatred, making her feel guilty because no one should hate their sister. she realized that she also deserved to live and that not everything emily says, goes. emily ruined her childhood, and her death is what made her realize this.
"i made you my temple, my mural, my sky, now i'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life"
i mentioned this before but rebecca grew up looking up to emily. she thought she was amazing and accomplished and everything someone should thrive to be. emily didn't think of rebecca the same way. she was conceited, stuck up and had this superiority complex. whilst emily meant everything to rebecca, rebecca meant next to nothing to emily.
"always taking up too much space or time"
this could be seen two ways. taking up too much space in her parents' lives or emily's. her parents were always dotting on emily, and completely ignored rebecca. she couldn't ask for anything without feeling like she didn't deserve the attention. this also applies to emily in the sense that emily had all of these things going on in her life, and she didn't really want to spend time with rebecca. she just liked to get her to do everything she wanted her to (she liked knowing she could manipulate the people around her to do what she wanted them to) rebecca needed her sister in her life, but emily didn't need hers.
"what would you do if i.... took this dagger in me and removed it"
rebecca finally starts to realize that emily is just a sick manipulator who doesn't deserve a second thought. she wants to get her out of her thoughts. she wants to forget about her and rip the dagger (that is emily) out of her mind. even now, after her death, emily is still managing to control her. the thing about being stabbed is that, by removing that dagger, you are basically harming yourself by letting yourself bleed out. that is why doctors recommend you to not remove the dagger when you get stabbed in order for you to not die of blood loss. the same applies to emily. by removing emily from her thoughts, she's removing her from her life. that isn't something you'd want to do to your sister even after her death and destruction. by forcing herself to let go of her sister, she's causing herself more pain because letting her go, even after all of the pain she caused her, is unfathomable to her. she can't live without her no matter how sick that is. rebecca has never really been her own person (she's always been an extension of emily), so, without emily, who is she? removing the dagger (emily) is removing a crucial part of herself. rebecca has always been emily 2.0 and not rebecca. the current rebecca is a creation of emily's.
this one was honestly super fun to make. i loved putting myself in her shoes and writing this. it's also made me hate emily even more.. hope you guys liked this (i'm really proud of this one).

hey goobers, let's learn some basics for rp.me HTML coding.
under the cut, we have:
-getting image URL

getting image url:
i'm only adding this because it's important for other steps and i don't wanna assume y'all know how to get this.
to get a image url, typically you can right-click on any interwebz photo and click "copy image link/url."
you can also upload onto imgur or similar places and still copy the image url. some sites have specific copy zones for those urls, but i always just right click and copy. up to you.
make sure your url ends in .jpeg, .png, .gif and similar. i don't think .svg works for html coding but i am probably wrong and stupid.
hex codes:
we're gonna be using a lot of hex codes too so here's what they are!!!!
hex codes will have # and 6 characters after that represent any color you can think of. for a full list of hex code colors, go here and look around. copy and paste that number/letter code, including #, and use that in any codes that require hex codes.
black: #000000
white: #ffffff
posting gif/image:
whenever you're posting a gif or an image, you'll use the same code, which is:
<img src='IMAGE URL HERE'>
with this code, it will post the original size of the photo you're using. sometimes that's OK!!!!!! but a lot of the time, we are lazy and don't want to personally resize pictures. there is a solution!!!
back to our original code but with a new addition:

or <img src='IMAGE URL HERE' height=100>
this code will keep the aspect ratio the same, but will now make the picture 100 pixels in width (or height in the second code). you can TECHNICALLY add both width and height to your code, but you might fuck up the aspect ratio (you do you, tho). you can obviously edit the width/height number to whatever space you need to fit it in. you'll probably have to play with it and adjust it a lot, but that's life, baybee.

Details:
I'm obviously not drawing everyone here. There are a lot of people!
Hecuba and Priam are both in designs where they definitely weren't young newly adults, but they also aren't elderly like they should have been in the Trojan War. The reason is that then I would have to draw them with white hair and that would prevent me from properly seeing who pulled who. So here are Hecuba and Priam definitely pre-Iliad.

Hector
He's the firstborn son of a shocking number of children, so I'm going to let the guy have at least a few frown lines alone, because this man must have frowned a lot throughout his life. In this house, we give AT LEAST an eternal frown!
I imagine him being the same height as Patroclus and Achilles because the three of them wear the same armor. Now you might say “but Birdie, that physique is CLEARLY bigger than the other two” and I agree! My excuse for this is that there's a part that says Zeus changed Achilles' armor when Hector put it on, and I always figured that was about the width. Reason: Achilles is a warrior focused on speed, so I don't imagine him being the width of a refrigerator, so to speak, and on the other hand Hector and Big Ajax seem to be somewhat similar in fighting style, so I think Hector and Achilles had a difference in size in subject width. I also made him quite tan because he was one of the main warriors.

Hecuba has more than one attributed father, but I decided to go with the Phrygian king Dymas, described in The Iliad as Hecuba's father.

I won't lie to you: I was unsure about how to draw her. Phrygians are a very uncertain people in terms of information, and this definitely didn't help make the whole thing easier since I was following the version where Hecuba is Phrygian. I have researched for a long time, and yet the Phrygians remain a very obscure people. And I couldn't draw Paris and Laodice before her because I wanted them to look specifically like her, so my delay was holding those two back. After much consideration, I decided to simply go with these two (both late) descriptions of Hecuba:
Hecuba: dark, good eyes, full grown, good nose, beautiful, generous, talkative, calm.

Hecuba was beautiful, her figure large, her complexion dark. She thought like a man and was pious and just.

I also wanted to make Hecuba beautiful. Not only because she' s usually described that way, but also because there are myths in which she's Apollo's lover. I think that to have attracted Apollo Hecuba must have been really beautiful, as well as calm and thoughtful. And it's precisely because I wanted to follow the idea of Hecuba being beautiful that I wanted to make Paris (generally described as one of the most beautiful Trojans in myths in general) and Laodice (described as the most beautiful daughter of Priam by Homer) take after her.

Deiphobus
Honestly, I don't have much to say. He's a typical warrior and looks more like Priam. And yes, it's on purpose to make him look like my Menelaus (although there's a chance I might redesign Menelaus).
Laodice
Laodice is described as Priam's most beautiful daughter, which is why I made her look like Hecuba. Among the princes and princesses, she's the most physically similar to Paris, as he's also one of the most beautiful and also looks like Hecuba. She's not a very prominent character in mythology, but I don't know… there's something about her that interests me, so I put some effort into trying to make her design look good.

I like to think that she partially understands Helen, knowing what it's like to have so much attention that it's negative because of her appearance, but in the end she's not really close to her (I'm going with the versions where Hector and Priam are the only ones who treat Helen really well. I don't think Laodice was the type to be actively mean to her, just the type to avoid interaction).
Priam
Priam actually participated in wars, so don't think I made him smaller because he's horrible at fighting. He simply has these genetics and, at the specific age I chose for him here, he's already at least around fifty years old. Additionally, I made his eyes look like a golden honey as a reference to Apollo, because of the god's association with knowledge. I could have made it gray in reference to Athena's wisdom, but I don't think it would fit. And yeah, specifically Polyxena, Helenus and Cassandra having this eye color was on purpose!
Paris
He takes after his mother Hecuba, and is beautiful like her. He is usually portrayed in antiquity as blond, but I REALLY wanted to make him look like my Hecuba, and if I followed that description, he would look like my Priam. So that's why I'm taking creative liberty here, but know that I KNOW he was usually blonde. I must be honest in admitting that my Paris is also very slightly inspired by Enrique Simonet's, because El Juicio de Paris was one of the first paintings referring to Greek mythology that I saw and that's why it left a strong impression on me. Even from the back he looks really handsome, so yes, I'll be using it for inspiration even though it's definitely not an ancient Greek source.
Normally Paris is drawn without any muscle and I understand why! In myths he's often considered effeminate, and he's sometimes reputed to be weak. BUT I personally can't see him being like that, and I think it would be perfectly possible to balance a slightly more feminine appearance with an athletic physique (I did this with my Achilles, after all). And now I'm going to do a kind of dissertation on why my Paris's physique is like this, even though you, dear anon, didn't ask!
Archery itself doesn't need to change the physique exceptionally, and you can see this by analyzing photos of Olympian archers (they, at most, have athletic arms). I literally even know someone who does archery and they don't have a Green Arrow-esque physique. Generally, archers with more developed physiques are those who use very heavy bows, as they require greater strength from the muscles used to pull and release the string, and who place some additional effort in other physical activities besides archery (for example , bodybuilding). In other words, Paris being a good archer wouldn't necessarily make him have to be super muscular, although it could give him good arms (and back, I imagine).
There is another however. Paris is a prince, but he wasn't raised like a prince. The opposite, actually! He was raised by a commoner shepherd, and I really doubt that Paris spent days of his life lying around just eating grapes given to him, he certainly did some physical work. I tried to imagine more of a farmer vibe, because they're the type of people who do manual work every day. If you notice, being a farmer doesn't necessarily make you an aspiring bodybuilder, but in many cases it makes you stronger. Even in cases of farmers who have a pot belly, you've probably seen one who had at least some semi-impressive biceps. In other words, Paris doing manual labor doesn't necessarily make him Big Ajax, but it really gets in the way of the image of him being like my Helenus.
Polyxena
Polyxena is mainly remembered for being a kind of Trojan Iphigenia, in the sense that the Greeks at a certain point are in one place because the wind is paralyzed by a greater force and this greater force will only allow them to go to their goal with the sacrifice of a young virgin, who is portrayed as courageously accepting her sacrifice. She also plays an important role in the later versions of the myths regarding Achilles' death, taking advantage of his passion for her to deceive him in order to lead him to his death (I say later because in fact it is later. The older versions didn't include Polyxena having that role). Despite being a later version, I based her intelligence on the versions where she plays a role in Achilles' death and gave her more knowing eyes.
Interestingly, I found her described as tall in two versions (Malalas and whoever wrote Dares' account. Though it's interesting that one specified black for her hair and the other said blonde and in response, I did it...brown), but I really wish Laodice's height was more detachable, so here my Polyxena isn't tall. Although described as tall in both versions, both versions find a way to say that something about her is small (in one, her feet. In other, her fingers), so I made her physique more similar to Priam's genetics than to Hecuba's.
Helenus
Helenus is Cassandra's twin brother and is capable of prophesying like her. While they are not identical twins, they look very similar. Even though he also didn't believe in Cassandra like everyone else, I like to think they were still close. Helenus purposely avoids cutting his hair so that they look even more alike and as children they could be a pain in Hector's ass for swapping places with the intention of tricking their older brother. The myths don't tend to highlight him for any athletic or warrior ability, but more for his prophetic or intellectual ability, so I really didn't make a point of giving him muscles (I know he fights in the Iliad, I just don't think it's the most interesting part of him. Let's face it, no one remembers him because he picked up a spear or a bow or something like that, people remember him because he prophesied). Helenus looks a lot like his father Priam, who is short and has a thin physique genetics. The reason he seems more “brilliant” than Cassandra is precisely because the difference in treatment given to the two certainly affects the way they live and think. Suffice to say, Helenus is less anxious and frustrated.
Cassandra
I want to make something clear right away, because I've seen a similar misunderstanding happen before: my Cassandra isn't thin because she isn't well fed in Troy. She's a princess and a prophetess, she IS well fed. She just has a really thin physique, just look at Helenus and Polyxena. I like to make characters look different from each other, and I noticed that, with the exception of Penelope (who I didn't even post in full body), I was lacking in female characters that were very uncurvy. So here's Cassandra.
She's Helenus's twin sister, although they aren't identical twins. However, they're still similar! They both mainly take after their father Priam, and the reason I specifically chose blonde for them is because I had the interpretation that Cassandra was blonde when I read The Iliad. They actually have the same eye color, I just prefer to make Cassandra's look darker because there is a difference between the treatment given to the two. Helenus's prophecies are believed, which allows him to be a more hopeful and calm person. Cassandra isn't believed and is often seen as crazy (just look at the treatment given to her in Alexandra and The Trojan Women, for example), which makes her seem less like she's smiling 24 hours a day and more like she's constantly frustrated.
Cassandra is indeed pretty, but I didn't try to exaggerate her too much because I don't want to give her the vibe of untouchable beauty. I think Cassandra's emotional aspect is infinitely more interesting, and I tried to convey that in the design. I like this kind of complicated relationship with Apollo, in which she's bitter for Apollo having cursed her (as seen in The Oresteia) and at the same time admires him as her god (as seen in The Trojan Women). She feels frustrated by feeling helpless, knowing that she can't do anything to stop what's going to happen. The reason she has dark circles under her eyes is because, honestly, I can't imagine being her without eventually developing anxiety. And one of the characteristics of anxiety is precisely these piles of terrifying thoughts about the future that absolutely prevent you from getting a decent sleep. In this specific drawing I didn't draw nails, but I imagine she bites them too.

So yesterday that Annie person from the P&Z circle @pleasetiemyshoelaces talked about a couple of times decided to have an absolute conniption over a post I made x number of months ago speculating over Poppy's behavior. She reblogged every reblog acting like they were made at different times, like this was an ongoing thing I'd been talking about repeatedly, and not that I'd reblogged it all in one day cause I was too lazy to edit the first post.
She called me a men's rights activist and had a "history of r#pe apologia" because I posted about this exactly once, because I believe @noehflake , and because I called Poppy a bitch. Mhmm yeah. Okay. Totally not coping over the fact that she's too much of a coward to actually confront any of the people who actually talk about this stuff on a regular basis. Annie, sweetie, this is a vent blog. This is not a critical blog. I don't have any kind of platform. There is no mission here. I'm not trying to take anyone down or harass anyone. This is where I occasionally come to complain. That's it.
For the people in the back. Noehflake is not a r#pist. Here's what happened according to the (actual) evidence (read the Poppyamory documents and the Luxander video on it for the receipts and watch the Victor Burns interview for Noeh's side of it. We already know Poppy's side cause she hasn't shut up about it): Noehflake broke up with Poppy for being a terrible partner. Poppy harassed her and badgered her and complained on Twitter about it. Zena gaslit and badgered and manipulated Noehflake into letting the trip they'd been planning on happen anyway and Poppy asked Noehflake to pretend like they weren't broken up. They met at the hotel and had sex because Poppy wanted to and Noehflake wanted to make her happy (that's a thing that ace people do, believe it or not). Then the next morning Noehflake decided she still didn't want to continue the relationship, in no small part because Poppy and Zena were screaming at each other, so she wanted to leave. Poppy tried to physically prevent her from leaving (which is a crime, by the way) and asked if Noehflake had just had sex with her to "test to see if she loved her" (which is absolutely nuts to think). Noehflake was tired of this bullshit and said yes just to get Poppy to get the hell out of the way, and Poppy was shocked enough to let her go (seriously, if someone were barring you from leaving, wouldn't you say anything to get them to let you go?). Then when Poppy kept badgering Noehflake to get back together, Noehflake admitted to lying about using the sex as a test and in truth had agreed to the sex because of feeling conflicted and wanting to make Poppy happy. Poppy took the single part of the lie and ran with it, deciding to paint Noehflake as a r#pist because she just couldn't let it go that she got dumped.
She also kept messaging Noehflake after this, and tried to friend her on Facebook.
Having sex with your ex to make them happy and then deciding not to continue the relationship is not r#pe. If anything, it's a pity fuck. And Poppy is too much of an egomaniac to accept the fact she was given a pity fuck and then re-dumped. That's what the evidence says.
I believe Noehflake's story because it has stayed consistent this entire time. Poppy's story has changed several times rapidly. And we have receipts.
I complain because this is all a bunch of soap opera bullshit and I wouldn't care if it wasn't being perpetuated people with a platform and influence over vulnerable people. If this were being done by a politician or non-internet celebrity I'm pretty sure people would be just as interested at seeing it put to an end. I'm certainly not going to do it. Other people have decided to do that. But I will complain about it. I'm allowed to. But only sometimes.
So go whine about it to someone who actually matters in this fight. You won't get anywhere whining about me, cause I don't matter. I'm a little nobody. And that's how I like it.

I want your neighbour scenario to be the new Adrienette AU. Marinette puts a winky face letter for her new neighbour Adrien, and then regrets it like 30 mins later.
OKAY I hate how it sounds sooo neighbour AU but for real though not to use my current very awkward neighbour story (more details about what this is about in the tags of this poll for those who've missed my latest misadventure) buuut:
Post Hawkmoth-defeat AU where they're in uni or something
Marinette lives in an apartment, number 7 (the number isn't relevant it's just my apartment number ok)
Adrien changed his last name a few years following his dad's arrest because being an Agreste is Not Cool At All and Marinette doesn't know it
Adrien is new in the apartment building and just so happens to move in apartment 6, right on the same floor as Marinette's. Adrien being an early bird on time and Marinette a disaster owl very much not on time in the mornings, they haven't crossed paths yet
On Adrien's mailbox, there's his new name but it's not like Marinette would know it's him, while she hasn't her name on her mailbox apart from her apartment number because she got too lazy to grab a piece of paper and write her name on it. So she's just. Appartement n°7, and so they're not recognising that it's Adrien and Marinette who are their neighbour.
And here comes my story, MLified: Adrien makes a poll in his neighbours' mailbox asking whether anyone would mind if he parked his bike in the building's corridor
Marinette answers his poll and says that of course it's not a problem for her :)
Adrien being nice and slightly too enthusiastic at getting a nice answer telling him he's not a problem coupled with an emoji smiling, decides that the best way to thank his neighbour in a not at all over exaggerated way is to buy her crispy m&ms with a note saying (and I'm quoting the note I got in my mailbox) "congratulations appartement 7, you picked the right answer! Here's a little gift to thank you, enjoy!"
Marinette who finds that waaayy too adorable (and who really needed a snack that day) gets a little too excited, and decides to leave back a note in Adrien's mailbox to thank him
She writes (and I have to quote myself on that): "THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE M&M'S!!! So nice!! Don't hesitate to knock if you ever need an egg or salt or something else ;)"
AFTER she dropped the note in his mailbox she realises that the winky face could be WIDELY MISINTERPRETED OH MY GOD YOU DUMB ASS, and promptly goes into "catastrophe" mode. She naturally and rationally considers moving out in a country far, far away.
(and here stops my story for now because I'm at the 'moving far away' part and I do not intend on having whatever lovesquare romance with my new neighbour thank you very much, but Adrinette would enjoy it)
Adrien, who's an oblivious and innocent baby doesn't notice anything wrong with the note and just thinks it's really sweet and friendly :). To thank his neighbour for being sweet, he buys her another pack of crispy m&m's
Marinette on her side start to think he misinterpreted her winky emoji, and is second guessing every new m&ms package coming in her mailbox
Anyway I don't have a follow up for this right now, I guess we could add some ladynoir bonding moments:
Like Ladybug talks to Chat Noir about her winky emoji note all panicked, and Chat Noir is just like "what of it, it just proves you're being nice, right?"
To which Ladybug explains that NO, WELL YES, but it could have other interpretations, and what if her neighbour thinks she's not only offering egg and salt??
To which Chat Noir proceeds to have a mental breakdown because "oh my god my Lady, my neighbour left me a note with a winky smiley the other day offering 'something else', do you think it means she's...implying something else???"
To which Ladybug is like "oh my GOD Chat Noir your neighbour is TOTALLY hitting on you 😱"
HENCE identity shenanigans because they DUMB.and don't notice that their stories are similar, and the notes exchange becomes a lot more confusing on Adrien and Marinette's sides but they keep sending some because heyyy, new friend and free food right?
I will stop this now because it's way too long and nonsensical for what it is, and it's late here fjzjfnzkfn but. Yeah I guess in my distress I. Can make every situations lovesquare-able 🥲
