i found out what really pisses me off about loki (season 2 especially so far) is that this filler episode (which was still really good all things considered) expanded on NOTHING from episode 1. it was like it never happened. there was no emotional aftermath of loki time skipping and mobius almost dying to save him. going into the episode, i was expecting some sort of callback at the very least (emotionally or physically) to that whole event because it was HUGE to both of their developments. so my conclusion is the loki writers are lazy because they didn’t even have to dedicate a whole episode to that it could have been one scene or even a line going “oh hey loki/mobius are you okay after that whole temporal loom thing happened? yeah? okay cool.” AND THATS IT.

it’s like all the emotional weight was sucked out of it and we’re left to fill in the gaps of the aftermath. we never got to see loki healing from mobius NOT KNOWING HIM. like what the fuck marvel.

this is one of my biggest writing/show pet peeves and it unfortunately applies to loki s2e2. you can have filler episodes while still continuing on the plot/emotional weight of previous events because if the events are chronological they should affect the characters even if the direct plot isn’t being continued in the following episode. filler episodes should follow a generally lighter episode. it makes no sense to go from an extremely heavy episode with deep emotional weight to an episode where it is like those events never even happened when the rest of the show doesn’t function like that. it doesn’t even take a whole scene or episode to do that if you want a lighter episode, just have a line that at least acknowledges the events of the past episode. because then it seems like the events don’t even matter to the characters which is just plain wrong. sorry i had to rant about this it really really annoys me and i’ve seen this done so many times.
