Been trying to not bother anyone, but I am wondering if anyone could send donations. I can't pay rent today (even if I pay the half I will on credit) and more fees are adding on, and outside of some help I've barely been eating for a long time here. I'm just struggling to afford rising costs of living with constant new crises happening, and I haven't been able to get someone to take over my lease, so I can't just couchsurf. Not at all asking anyone to over extend or send me more if they've had, but if anyone could help I'd appreciate it.

(I have seen as many case managers and financial aid advisors as I can and am using every resource I can too! There's just not much where I am now.)

Yep! The Lion always says he's just "power to be used" and tries to play it off saying he has no way to use his own power for himself. And in a way it might be true (he needs someone to wish for something that will free him) but in another way he's HIGHLY manipulative and uses the dungeon lords however he wants.

That's why I don't really enjoy when people describe Laios' confrontation with him as "The Lion confronts him with his deepest/true desires". I don't believe those are Laios' true wishes at all, those are past traumas the Lion uses against him to manipulate him into wishing to let go of humanity.

I guess it's in a sense the thing about "what you want vs what you need". Sometimes we wish for things we don't really want and desires get muddled when we can't face what we truly want/need.

Laios wish to become a monster comes from a frustration of not being able to fit in, is his wish abandoning humanity or is it being understood? Did Mithrun really wish to steal his brother's lover and never have joined the canaries or did just wanted to feel wanted? To feel like he had worth?

The Lion isn't power to be wielded, he isn't a neutral force, he's a being that hungers and he'll do all in his power to be able to eat and that includes lying and manipulating <3

I think even at the end the Lion misunderstand what a true wish/desire is. He curses Laios so his "Your greatest desire will never be granted". The Lion thinks that's monsters. I believe it's because that's what Laios has dedicated his life to, that's what he knows the most about, that's his biggest comfort, that's his everything.

But he doesn't consider he would let go of that desire for the people he loves, because all he knows is hunger, and love isn't hunger 😔

oh yeah, i think it's important to differentiate between the ideas of a "jewish ethnostate" and a "jewish homeland", as a jew myself especially --

of course we deserve a place where we feel safe, a place that puts emphasis on caring for us and not treating us like dirt. but that is not the same as a place that allows ONLY us to be there. (and we are talking about a mass of land, not an affinity club or anything -- we're talking about somewhere people live. who gets to be a part of it is not something you should be policing on lines of race or religion.) we have no right to lay claim to land and force other people out of it. we have no right to a jewish ethnostate.

also, it is very worthy of note that jews and their ancestors have lived in palestine, for a great portion of history in fact, but were conquered multiple times by multiple empires and expelled to the diaspora. of course jews want to live in palestine! of course! but palestinians are just as indigenous to the land as we are -- we have absolutely NO right to kill them and kick them out and say it isn't their home (which is exactly what so many empires did to us, in the same land no less).

I know this is random but reading your blog and seeing your art made me so motivated I made my 1st animation ever (not counting pixel art ones), after not drawing digitally in months and it looks kinda basic and it isn't colored but I made it and I'm really happy with it so I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you for motivating me to make digital art again! No matter how many nightmares Ellie has, how many times she wakes up screaming, how many times she screams and doesn't snap awake - Joel comes to her.

In the early evening when she accidentally falls asleep reading a new Savage Starlight comic he got for her, he races up the stairs taking two steps at a time and holds her in the dying sunlight until she can think of the stars and no longer sees blood.

Hours past midnight, street lamps long turned off, when her cries are quiet and small, Joel still notices, still crosses the handful of feet between their bedrooms and lets her cling to him for the rest of the night.

In the sweltering summer when all physical contact only traps heat between them and leaves them sticky with sweat, Joel keeps her pressed against him for as long as she needs, sharing his body heat and comfort just like he does in the coldest winter months.

Ellie calls out his name during the day with joy glowing in her voice and he responds with the same urgency as always, following the promise of her smile with his own lighting up his face. She asks questions and requests hugs, tells pun and teases him when he looks up despite knowing she is only doing it to fuck with him, and sometimes, when the doubt settles back into her bones against her best efforts, she says Joel with a rare vulnerability laced into her voice, only letting out the breath she was holding when he still responds, still comes over, still loves her.

There are days when she waits for him to grow tired of her, fearing the time she asks for him and he refuses to seek her out, to follow her call to wherever she is, but no matter how long she waits, he always comes.

Always.

Joel brushes her hair out of her face and presses his forehead against hers, one hand cupping her jaw and tracing the line of her cheekbone before he leans back again to leave a kiss right below her temple.

actually making my tags from my last post into their own post. writers who struggle with grammar, spelling, typos, errors etc i love you. writers who struggle with rereading their stuff thoroughly no matter how much they try, who don't always have access to other people to help them read i love you. whilst reading through and checking for these things is good practice i really believe that the weight of it should not be put wholly on the writer's shoulders. especially writers who are neurodivergent, disabled, have any condition that can impede their reading + comprehension, are overworked and overtired, are not writing in their native language, list goes on....because grammar mistakes/language mistakes/typos have nothing to do with your abilities as a creative. this is where editors should be uplifting writers, helping them, not scrutinising them for something they cannot always control
