Zionists want you to conflate Judaism and Zionism. Zionists want you to believe that Judaism cannot exist without Zionism and that all Jews are Zionists. Zionism would have Jews believe that a Jewish state is the only way that they can be safe from antisemitism and will point to any instance of antisemitism as proof that Zionism is the solution- so Zionism wants gentiles to be antisemitic in their support of Palestine. They want you to conflate all Jews with Zionism and the state of Israel, and they want you to treat all Jews regardless of political affiliation as the face of Israel. Antizionist Jews exist, and incidences of antisemitism ostensibly acting against Zionism will not help dismantle the forces propping Zionism up.

Since I've been settling back into Tumblr I keep thinking about the fact that this is where I did most of my writing. About all kinds of things.

I haven't really written anything in a couple of years. It started as a bit of burnout but got exponentially worse due to a very bad thing that happened. My therapist has been trying to help me find that piece of myself again. It's been lost for a really long time, and is probably a big part of why I have so much trouble being 'me' anymore, or even knowing what 'me' is. It's really difficult to like 'me' now. On the off-chance I actually do, I feel guilty for having done so, because I still haven't quite shaken the instinct that shouldn't like 'me.' I should be ashamed of 'me.' Maybe that's a big part of why my writing disappeared. I always really liked that about me. Writing would threaten my the paradigm where I can't and shouldn't like myself.

But I mean... I do really miss it.

I hope it comes back.

Maybe being here again will help with that.

I'm so burnt out and stressed about a variety of things lately, but a funny / sweet coincidence recently happened that I wanted to share:

Last week, I had a university student reach out to me (via my work email) asking for resources / advice on their research paper because I've written a lot of articles about the thing they're writing about. (I just got back to them today and they were real sweet, I'm excited to see how their paper turns out)

A week or two ago, I had someone reach out to me on RA asking for some specific clip info / date info because they were doing a research paper about Pac, and today I saw that they published their paper and put a special thanks to RA in the notes :')

I just think it's very sweet and a funny coincidence that my work (professional and fandom work) is getting cited in research papers. It made me smile a lot, I genuinely love that.

#i talk #job talk #Seeing RA get MLA cited sure was something #I love that #I have such a hard time sitting down and focusing on things but I want to read their paper #even if I have to TTS it (which is what I'll probably have to do)#but I'm so :') about both things #it's unexpected and sweet and makes me feel proud in different ways #I'm sad about work though but I really do need a new job #I love my job and I love the people (minus one but I never see him and never interact with him so it's fine)#but it just doesn't frickin pay enough and I've been in the red for too long #it makes me so sad but it's just not sustainable and it's stressing me out even more #like money is always a huge stressful thing but it's getting worse #I'm just frustrated because job hunting sucks and even jobs I'm overqualified for never get back to me #The job market is a nightmare but especially for my field. You just gotta KNOW people and I'm not good at that #I'm also sad because I know my team will be sad when I inevitably have to leave #I need to do it sooner rather than later though because we have big projects coming up #and the longer I take the harder it'll be on my team #agh #anyways this got a bit negative in the tags but these two things really did put a much-needed smile on my face #so thank you to those two students #I love college kids. Over here fighting for my life in the Google Doc. The table of contents is escaping me. I can't do this.

#I'm working on a project #putting together a bunch of stories in a little google doc #well it's not little. this thing is 93 pages #ive had to proofread. format. transcribe 40 minute videos #hunt people down for their stories #its been a fairly difficult thing but im very proud of it #now im trying to make a little table of contents because its such a long document #i dont want people to have to scroll down 85 pages before getting to what they want #so im trying to do that cool hyperlink table of contents that docs will let you do #but its proving more difficult than i first thought #mostly the formatting #fuck formatting #this project is nearing the end which is exciting but sad and a little scary #because once its finished i have to send it to the proper people and they're going to see all of the work i did #its really important and kind of sacred. and theres difficulties with one of the people im going to send it to...#but that storys way too long for the tags #i still have to go through and proofread everything again. make sure transcriptions are accurate #more fucking formatting. and did i mention i hate transcripts? its hard to know whats important and whats not #i have to decide if im going to transcribe the ums and stutters and actions and shit #i hate this (not actually)#i think im just scared to finish. scared it wont be good enough. scared ill lose this thing ive been working on for the last 1.5 years #now im gonna stop procrastinating and go work on it more #if any of you have tips to make this fucking table of contents easier please share

The Future Built Upon the Past (Fire Emblem: Awakening, 158k, in progress)

My monster, my baby: the fic that got me writing again after years of being creatively fallow and my magnum opus for the Fire Emblem: Awakening fandom. It’s not even done yet and it’s already far-and-away my biggest endeavor to date, with my current estimate for final word count sitting around 600k whenever I manage to finish it. A story of love, of friendship, and of bonds that transcend social mores, diplomacy, orders, duty, and even fate itself.

Heart of the Moon (Fire Emblem: Awakening, 60k, complete)

The first long-form fic I completed for Fire Emblem: Awakening and arguably the first long-form piece I’d completed in years. One of my favorites in general since it’s based on East of the Sun and West of the Moon, my favorite folktale, and to this day one of my favorite F!Chrobin things I’ve written, particularly since it inspired a sprawling sequel that explores a lot of politics and social dynamics and a lot more character relationships and I haven’t finished it yet gods dammit

Cursed Fate (Fire Emblem: Awakening, 57k, complete)

As Gun would say, I was taken by a fey mood and banged this one out over the course of a month, month and a half tops after she decided to pick up Shadow of the Colossus on a whim. This one never got much traction, which I think is a shame because I very much like it. Along with drawing its narrative structure and overarching premise from Shadow of the Colossus, it also let me play around with a structure reminiscent of a fairy tale in how the repetition of its story beats, which I personally thought was pretty cool.

Affectionately Yours (Fire Emblem: Awakening, 59k, complete)

I love this one a frankly stupid amount. Written for the 2020 Chrobin Celebration, it ended up as a love letter to Plegia: tons of worldbuilding and cultural nuance, meditation on the difference between blame, fault, and responsibility, and lots and lots of letters. I have a weakness for epistolary format, despite not utilizing it often, so I had a great time choosing the fonts for handwriting and planning out the letters. Someday I’m going to bind this in leather with gilded pages and it’s gonna be gorgeous

Proof of Life (Fire Emblem: Three Houses, 3.7k, complete)

The shortest piece on this list and also the only one that’s not from Awakening. I love how this one turned out, particularly the conversation between Claude and Dimitri and Dimitri’s private introspection while he talks to his sleeping friend. It never really got a lot of attention which I cynically think is because it’s gen and features a platonic relationship, but I still feel like it’s one of my strongest pieces.

And a bonus shout-out to my piece Invisible Ties in the Lodestar.sys sci-fi zine since I still feel like that’s the strongest piece I’ve written since I started posting fic again.

My GOSH I am having so much FUN watching all these videos about animation and learning how to animate and the different principles of animation and how to start animating and all that

A couple days ago I opened up clip studio and just figured out how to add the music I wanted and made sure that the file was going to be the right length, and drew a couple rough frames just to make sure that I put certain scenes it during the correct beat of the song and it was just SO fun

I wasn’t expecting it to be this fun tbh but yeah
