i know its october and stuff but this is important
rtc eurovision headcanons
so back in 2021 (so long ago, i know) i watched the eurovision with my family
we did a lucky dip for the favourites too, winner won €50
and this post is if the choir did it too
specifically 2021 because it was a really good year (the songs were really fun)
so they did a lucky draw with the favourites and then with the not so favourites
THE ACTS
mischa got italy but he swapped with penny for ukraine
penny (and constance) was already a big fan of maneskin so she was happy
she knew mischa would swap for ukraine anyways
he does it every year (its a european thing, we love getting our own country)
in a similar vein, noel swapped with constance
he gave her spain in return for france
ocean got germany and britain
ricky got iceland
im not going to go through who everyone got, thatd take a while
mischa knew every word to the ukrainian entry and he let everyone know it
ricky loved icelands entry, it was his favourite to win
ocean almost died watching germany, and noel lost it laughing
penny and constance knew every word to italy, they were up and head banging and loving every second of it
noel was on the floor during france, he loved the song. it was a like, spiritual experience to him, and it never left his playlist afterwards.
noel was also on the floor for spain, but for entirely different reasons. so was the rest of the choir (sans ocean)
ocean: guys i dont get it whats the big deal
noel: *muffled gay screams*
THE INTERVAL
ricky looked up the iceland music video and made the whole choir learn the dance.
noel bragged the whole time about having the best countries
penny just quietly added that she thought all the countries were great
mischa was on the edge of his seat during voting
he could not handle not being able to vote
noel downloaded a vpn onto his phone so he could vote
"im just voting for france, they were so good they deserve it"
he voted for ukraine
THE RESULTS
ocean cried.
everyone else was laughing over britains points but ocean was in tears.
noel was on the edge of his seat watching france get points
you have never seen someone get more nervous over eurovision results as noel gruber did
then the public votes came in
ocean cried more
noel was on the edge of his seat. he almost had it won it was just within reach-
penny won.
she won 60 of whatever the canadian currency is (i think its dollars its probably dollars)
she spent it on presents for the others

i hate kevin ball. i’m disinterested in veronica fisher. they fucked up svetlana’s whole character by creating the throuple. the end.

Both 27 year olds in wh go crazy age regressing Charlie in a more physical manner (literal 10yr old body and for example her penchant for plushie-collecting) Ashe it just happens to him tragically mostly when talking to Noel it's not his fault he happens to trigger the most vulnerable emotions in Ashe on accident every single time (sorry i mentioned them once but then i went off about them in tags.) "cotton candy" "rancid beer" "staring at the funhouse mirror" "a flash of music swirling everywhere"
these are lyrics from fall fair 2015 and from constance, mischa, ocean, and noel, respectively.
constance and mischa make sense, both have several lines alluding to sweets and sugar and alcohol. ocean and noel, however, are more confusing. you would think that, at the very least, their lines would be switched with noel being perceived as different from who he is and ocean being choir captain. but no, here we are.
i think that ocean's line is to do with how the way she sees herself is not the way she is seen, and both of these conflict with who she actually is. the funhouse mirror distorts everything, and if you stare into it, you look especially strange, but so does the world around you. and doesn't this happen in the show? ocean's entire worldview and way of life is questioned, not to mention her attitude and personality.
and then we get noel's line. "a flash (visual, often a reference to lightning or photography) of music (auditory) swirling (can be anything really, but often tactile) everywhere." it makes the carnival seem overwhelming, chaotic. but we know that's not how noel sees anything in uranium city. he sees monique's life as "a never ending carnival". that chaos and wildness is aspirational to him, but the wonder in this small town is numbing.
