for the past few days, i've just been running gIaze on my art lol im just glad that the v2 update has started working for me bc all the ge//n a///i bs rlly makes me think twice on posting sometimes. so this gives a lot of peace of mind for me. made me remember that i was planning on upgrading my laptop's ram(?) for a little bit before, i should do it soon b4 i get too busy again next month

#personal #in v1 it used to take so long and the output is always a black smudge no matter the settings and even at the lowest setting #so i gave up on using it initially #like idm if one run took 1-2hrs but like if its gonna be trial & error and it's a black smudge every time #i'll just lose patience and it's like putting a strain on my laptop for nothing bc whenever i run it i can't use other programs at all #but v2 renders a bit faster now (30-60 min average?) and then the output is also gucci at first try (with barely noticeable artifacts)#and they made it work so much lighter too bc now i can play my yt music and draw while it's running in the bg #like the v1 to v2 jump in improvement is so real! im really impressed!#just me rambling bc im so 🤩🤩🤩 with it rn lmaooo

Ok this is actually a hard question to answer, since the actual idea of a duo of character that can see ghost and it's ghost partner started way way back when I was a kid due to a pair of Spanish educational point & click adventure games called "Central de Fantasmas" (ghost central)

While the games are surprisingly high quality for the standars of educational games (the guy voice actor also does Fry in futurama as well as a lot other characters in other shows), all things considered they didn't do much with the ghost idea, so it led to my kid shelf imagining this stories about a duo of characters one human and one ghost, I'll be honest I don't remember anything about them.

A few years back, on 2022 I got really nostalgic for this games and decided to play them (took a while to make them run since these where designed for Windows XP tops) and the memories of me playing came back and through the next days of playing I started again tinkering with the idea of a human/ghost duo, it all clicked when YouTube recomended me the song "All my friends are ghost" by Dib Dooley (the original non music video is older but it's no longer on her channel)

That's the point where my mind gave form to Ely, this parody of a mystery children book protagonist, unlike those who pieced things together out of clues that then would lead them to traping the villan thanks to their quick thinking and resourcefulness, Ely was clumsy, almost always was in the wrong track with her assumptions, and only managed to catch the bad guy at the end and survive fighting against literal crime bosses because of her friend Dan, a grumpy ghost who despite what he says really cares about Ely and makes sure to protect her, all lead to this.

The first ever art of Ely & Dan.

Ely's dressing was roughly inspired by another parody of Kids mystery books, Jenny LeClue, while Dan's was inspired by Gibson from the Webtoon "Greetings from Grisley".

Despite the fact that Jenny doesn't have a hat while Gibson does, the hat actually was originally drawn as part of Elly's design to complement the detective look, then it was given to Dan as it's design looked to simple.

The idea kept going in my head and some questions started to form "Why can Elly see ghosts?" "Why does Dan want to become a writer so bad?" "How does Dan manage to pay the bills with him being a ghost and his book store not making any money?".

That's the point where I decided to actually make a story out of this and started to learn how to use adventure game studio, when I more or less had an understanding of how everything worked and had programed a way to switch between normal Ely & Dan Elly, I realized that I didn't have any sprites or artist abilities, after some days and a bunch of re doing I had the sprite versions that I posted over here.

I decided to park the project for now and develop some art skills moment in which I started to draw other ideas I had (check the art section in my pinned post for more on that).

The Ideas for Ely & Dan keep going in my head evolving until their current version and at that point I just couldn't take it I needed to share them, so I took your advice and decided that even if they weren't going to look the best they could at least they were going to look, and so Elly & Dan were posted.

So yeah, to answer it simply, the concept as we know it today, middle of 2023 more or less, the original concept more or less middle to late 2022, the Original idea 2010 or so...

Also about the second question, I don't, I've tried to come up with voices for them both in English & in Spanish but they always change.

I think a.i.voice vy1 and vy2 actually look like them, like I can look at the designs and see all of the popular existing takes on them in them, just condensed down to the most neutral those characters could look. in my mind the a.i.voice vys serve as kind of a base to the other versions and I actually like that approach to giving characters marketed as blank slates "canon" human designs

#it just made me smile to see them and go 'that's them!' like seeing an old friend with a different appearance #for me when a synth gets a redesign it doesn't matter a whole ton bc Usually whatever's the original/most iconic is them to me #like miku's always gonna look like v2 to me not v4 or nt or anything so generally new designs are low stakes for me #and with this I don't think they “canonized” anything whereas they would have more so by going with something flashy or existing #also given their nature I was already more open to different designs of them specifically and I think these ones are cute #but anyway it's like dress up bases in dress up games to me #who knows if they get vocaloids and it changes but for these #vy1 #vy2 #thoughts

#The Sims #The Sims 2 #I have /got/ to figure out/remember how to screenshot while the game is in full screen #I was clearly able to do it the last time I installed it! Okay, I need to complain with everyone else about the mess that was st4 v2, and yeah I'm gonna petty about it:

The collar papa put on eleven had no consequences. I thought maybe it'd limit her powers like the pill thing in 001's neck or it'd activate a shock if she used them. Literally what did this device do other than unnecessarily prolong Papa's death scene.

The military didn't pursue the pizza van??

Stancy…is weird to me. Like it felt forced. Don't get me wrong, I loved these two together at first but this felt like backwards steps for their characters. I would've loved to see everyone pushing them together only for them to both realize, actually, they really are better as friends and get closure and move on. I want them both to stay single for a minute and figure their own shit out.

Where are the parents? From how the town gathering scene ended in v1, I expected them to say or do something… anything.

Like maybe they would be responsible for stopping the basketball team. Also where is the rest of the basketball team?

How that was handled with Erica and Lucas made me ill. Like I know cops aren't helpful to black teens but like where are the cops? Where are the parents?

I thought Lucas was gonna sing :( that would've been the sweetest way to save max, especially since Caleb can and he'd be doing the thing he made fun of Dustin for. It would've saved us from this weird eleven restarting her heart thing and been extra emotional from the lyrics and just imagine how broken he'd sound after fighting with Jason.

I kinda wish that instead of Dustin going back into the Upside Down (and hurting his leg which is like just not addressed? They make my boy give out water??) that he had instead ran to the Creel house and helped Erica beat the shit out of the highschooler tackling her and then how awesome would it be for him to see Lucas sing Max back to reality.

The whole Eddie not running from the Demobats thing. Is. Upsetting. There was no reason for it. The plan doesn't make sense to me. What was stopping the bats from flying through the gate in the first place, since we've seen the demogorgons can pass through? How was him sticking around going to help if the bats were distracted by attacking the trailer? Why wouldn't he keep running until he had to face the bats? Bro had a shitty little shield and a spear (why a spear?). Instead, I would've loved for him to outrun the bats to the Creel house and use his spear to cut the other teens loose. Running and becoming a hero.

Um, the other teens also did, like nothing. They choked out for like 15 minutes. You'd think someone would use a lighter or have a panicked heart to heart. It felt so boring and useless.

Also they take out Vecna way too easy. Like, guy still has powers and they were fighting him fully awake. I think it'd be cooler if they had attacked their way through the vines and weakened him. Or even just burned down the house.

Hated the use of Nancy's vecna-ing. I'll just leave that at that.

Other kids could've been at risk of getting vecna'd, like Lucas said, regardless of whether or not they used them as bait. Why wasn't that something they were worried about?

Hated Mike's speech to El. "I'm forcing myself to say I love you. And yeah it's cause you have powers." Like my god, the worst writing.

Will's painting - really bugged me that Lucas wasn't shown in it, I assume he's on the horse, but I thought it was weird that he's covered in every shot. I only noticed this because El isn't in the painting. I think Mike would question that after everything Will said.

Honestly. I can't even get into Will rn. Let the boy come out, let the boy be happy.

California team had so many important players and I feel like they did almost nothing this entire season. Have someone reach out to 008, as much as I hated that storyline. Have literally any emotional crux.

I also thought the Russian team would have more? Idk something? I was getting pretty sick of whatever they were doing with Yuri and the helicopter and it culminated to nothing. I thought maybe there would be something having to do with Dimitri and Mikhail. Uh, are they just chilling in Hawkins now?

Where did the sword come from? They didn't follow up on the particles??

2 days later… I laughed. It wasn't funny. What the hell is this timeline for everyone to reunite?

Henry becoming vecna and meeting the mind flayer and building this new dimension was confusing. Was anything explained? Did I miss something? Which is in charge? I cannot be bothered to go back and rewatch until ST5 comes out.
