Captain, you almost make me believe in luck. Why, Mister Spock, you almost make me believe in miracles.

I have always had such love for K/S and this particular drawing was designed to imitate analog (traditional) art, as a homage to the iconic, gorgeous Star Trek fanzines that gave us K/S. They were lovingly and painstakingly made by hand.

This is of course, not from 1979. It's from today, but hopefully doesn't look so much like it. The lovely quote is from A Taste of Armageddon and sometimes I can't believe it's real. I'm thinking about making a companion piece for Spock, let me know if you are interested. And let me know what you think. <3

I love the trope of Jim deciding to seduce Spock, but I also think a lot about an oblivious Jim who truly doesn't think Spock would ever be interested in him, but who's every action drives Spock closer and closer to an emotional meltdown

Spock suffering over the green shirt, the red tights, the dress uniform

Jim casually geeking out over some theory or scientific principle and Spock smitten over how smart he is

Spock abruptly having reports to analyze after Jim gets caramel sauce on his hands and sucks it off his fingers

Jim just being Jim: compassionate and brave and selfless and determined and kind, and he'll just smile at Spock and Spock knows it's a lost cause

I don't know if I've mentioned before, but I've just realized (again), that the reason Spock went after Chapel so hard is not only cause she's a good friend, but from his perspective, Chapel, who's the "complete opposite" of himself (Sung in the musical episode), he may have seen her as the person that was the "farthest" from him, in personality and mind.

And obviously, later in life, he actually finds it with Jim.

I think i finally figured out why disco/SNW Spock interpretation irks me. I couldnt figure it out because Peck is a good actor and his character hasnt diverged so much that it should anger my TOS loyalty. Plus im usually pretty open minded about creatives doing their thing.

TOS gave the impression that spock only ever let his guard down with Kirk. He was his best friend minimum. He was the most human, the most emotional because of Kirk. And SNW is nearly retconning their relationship. So you see, its my loyalty to spirk thats getting in the way. I want to preserve his special relationship with jim so im struggling to allow spock to show his humanity with anyone but him.

#just my own issues with it #im sure there are some valid complaints but mine are too tainted by my spirk loyalty lol #imma be honest the love triangle probably irks me the most #or maybe its just the sheer quantity that his humanity is leaking #his anger in the baby gorn episode #punching that vulcan for chapel #laan realizing he lost his sister and its toll on him #vulcan sex in ep 1 lol #smiling in ep8 though i know that was the space clouds doing #anyways im consciously making the effort to let it go #i enjoy SNW to let this get between me and the rest of the characters i adore #just gotta allow spock and kirk to develop in this new way #trusting the writers #star trek #star trek snw #star trek strange new worlds #strange new worlds #spirk #spock

If you still need a distraction, I present this for you to think about:

Jim being in an area that sells Vulcan incense and easily finding the kind Spock uses despite Spock never telling him the name, because he always stands so close to him that he gets a whiff of it after Spock meditates

He then starts agonizing over getting Spock a gift he knows he’ll use but he’s worried about his feelings being apparent if he does and what Spock will think about Jim just *knowing* what incense he uses

(Spock has already picked up a bottle of whatever Jim uses without a second thought because it’s only logical he get his friend a practical gift and if anyone calls him out and noticing Jim’s scent he already has a “Vulcan’s awareness/sense of smell/etc” in his pocket to use)

I really love the idea of jim hunting down something special for spock and the idea of spock having done the same is really cute :')

Depending on which spirk it is as well there's definitely interesting ideas to apply to the idea.

aos spirk and vulcans destruction meaning that Jim's gift is so precious (and because it is, the weight of giving/ having being able to find that gift) the pressure of keeping the giving "platonic" but after finding it he KNEW that he had to buy it. (Also interesting if they were at the point of not being super close so that adds to the pressure)

vs tos spirk being very much "well I'm the captain I can't give my first officer this kind of gift.." etc etc so it sits in his room for ages and ages while he deliberates until spock comes over to play chess and notices the smell more clearly (he could smell something familiar on him before but figured it was cuz they were close in the turbolift/bridge) and it gets revealed and Jim realises it was all silly because now spock has this soft look in his eyes

Meanwhile during all this spock has been experiencing the same thing next door trying to tell himself it's purely logical and that gift giving is a practical idea to show his captain his appreciation for his work ethic (definitely no other reason...)

i’ve been seeing posts/videos on youtube about the next possible star trek movie and having it take place decades before the timeline of tos and like

do they not understand how feral i (and many other fans i assume) would become if we finally got an adaptation of star trek that gave us more spirk?

spirk was the pairing that launched a thousand ships! not to mention the amazing fanfics its spawned. sure exploring the playground of the star trek verse is beautiful, but as tos and aos have shown us, there are an infinite amount of realities out there where james t kirk wound up with a spock. hell kirk himself said it in the scene from aos that never was

“You once said being a starship captain was my first, best destiny… if that’s true, then yours is to be by my side. If there’s any true logic to the universe… we’ll end up on that bridge again someday.”

Lowkey thinking “City On The Edge of Forever” is testing the strength of Kirk and Spock’s relationship — whether or not they’d actually be able to live happily together somewhere outside of The Enterprise… which is interesting considering that they do break up after the five year mission (sometime after TAS and before TMP)

Like they’re so catty with each other in this episode, even before the time travel, and Spock is sooo not jealous of Edith Keeler, and he keeps dissing Earth but then doing whatever he can to follow Jim’s orders, and Jim keeps demanding more faster and being all dreamy about this woman and this time period and not being the captain for a little bit and Spock calls him Captain even when he doesn’t and oh my god
