BASICALLYY the transformers r alien robots from the planet cybertron!! they are fighting a civil war and eventually all the fighting wrecks the planet n the battle gets moved 2 earth!! there r two sides, the good guys called the autobots (led by a guy called optimus prime he is popular n beloved in the franchise n fandom) and the evil bad guys r called the Decepticons!! they are led by their evil leader Megatron!! OP and megs are sworn enemies n fight sm, the wars been going on for like over 4 million years (these guys live a LONGGG time) on earth, the autobots r nicer and treat the humans better than the cons anyways (tho no bot/con is rlly pure their like all war criminals LMAOOO) u would not BELIEVEE their mfing drama!! the pettyness of these mech mfs fr
ANYWAYZZ another rlly cool thing abt the series is the many canon queer bots!!! :D their mostly in the idw comics tho, such as the comic series 'more than meets than the eye' and lost light' which features multiple main characters who r gay and have a bunch of mlm relationships, as well as lost light having some t4t lesbians who r prominent EEE it so cool to see!! another example of transgenderformers is in the newest show 'transformers earthspark' which features one of the main characters who is nonbinary!! their sooo cool :]!!
now AHEM some recommendations r below for tf shows that I rlly like (NO PRESSURE TO WATCH/CONSUME ANY OF THESE THO!! i just rlly always like linking tf stuff it makes me happy :3 i wont mind at all if these just sit here foreva i just am like YAYY when i have to find linkies it is very fun!!)
the first tf show I ever watched is Transformers Prime!! I’d def start here bc it’s good for beginners new to the series, has lore, action, rlly good characters r plot!! Very dearly beloved by the fandom :] has three seasons n a movie! links to view it 4 free below:

(ALSO THE ORIGINAL 80s G1 SHOW IS ON TUBI AS WELL, it is very funny i like it even tho i havent finished all the way EE)
If u want smth short I’d also recommend TRANSFORMERS EARTHSPARK!!! It’s ongoing tho, not fully finished like Prime, n is the newest tf show as of late, but it’s proven to be wonderful so far and I’ve actually gotten people who haven’t seen any tf stuff before to watch it and they’ve been fine and liked it HEHEEH :3 only 18 eps rn, here is my google drive w all the eps so far if u want!
other shows that I have links to watch to r:
Transformers Animated (3 seasons, 2d animated, more stylized, very fun)
Transformers Cyberverse (3 seasons and two 40 minute specials more kiddy and not as serious and a little shallower than the other shows, but I really enjoyed it, it was so so funny and it was my top tf thing for a while before Earthspark stole my heart 😨 cyberverse season 3 has no right to go so hard)
and the idw comics can be read on readcomiconline.li (tho beware of the weird ads n pop ups if u go on here, their rlly AAA so its best viewed w adblock) theres some mlp and transformers crossover comics on there also THEIR SO GOOD AND FUN i dont think u need any prior knowledge to enjoy them tbh their great

So looking at how much Hasbro has been trying to revitalize animated reboots since 2010, thoughts on modern Hasbro 2010s reboots MLP Friendship is Magic, Pound Puppies 2010, Transformers Prime, Littlest Pet Shop 2012, Equestria Girls, GI Joe Renegades, Transformers Rescue Bots, Transformers Robots in Disguise, Littlest Pet Shop A World of Our Own, Transformers Cyberverse, Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy, Pony Life, Transformers EarthSpark, MLP Tell Your Tale, and MLP Make Your Mark?
Who boy.. settle in folks this is going to be a while. Friendship is Magic: A show I honestly want to go back and finish once the streaming weirdness is cleared up. (It's currently weirdly bisected with the middle missing), as my discomfort with the more extreme side of the fandom (and a manipulative asshole getting into my head, very long story), I dropped it around late season 2. Granted how they intially brought discord back didn't really sell me on returning but I still at least kept tabs on everyone and honestly.. wanted to return at some point I just never did. I watched most of the discord episodes because he's my boy, but that's about it. Still a good show.
Dan Vs: Technically dosen't count.. but i'm throwing it in as the only other show on the hub and because I loved it and need to rewatch it. Dan VS is an awesome little adult sitcom that was weirdly on this hasbro based family network. It was one of the best shows of it's time and had a simple but hilarious premise of a very angry man trying to get revenge on some inconveince he's faced, sometimes justifably sometimes because he's a sad strange little man. With the dream trinity of curtis armstrong (who really shoudl do more va work besides this and american dad) dave foely and paget brester, it really worked and while i'm sad it only got three seasons the fact it did and you can still watch it today (it's on youtube, tubi and the roku channel for free baby!) I highly recommend it.
Pound Puppies: Since I had the hub around the time all this happened, I did see most of these early reboots. Pound Puppies.. is adorable. Not entirely my speed, but still a lot of fun... and not suprising given it was developed by the guys who created recess. Transformers Prime: Another show I need to watch more of. At the time I thought it was okay, but just didn't get into it, but I hear it only got better and better with age. I also think the animation wasn't for me and I still think it's not entirely, but it's not bad by any stretch. LIttlest Pet Shop: I really loved this one at the time and even now a bunch of animals at an animal daycare getting into slice of life shenanigans just hits the spot. I also had ships because of course I did, i ncluding sunil and that one cat. But it was a lot of fun. Russel was my easy faviorite. And even if I didn't really care for blythe as a charcter I respect that they had her wear a new outfit each episode and put care into the deisgns given she IS a designer. Solid show.
Equestria Girls, Rescue Bots, Rescue Bots Academy, Pony Life: Haven't seen any of it
GI Joe Renegades: ANOTHER ONE I regret not watching more of but in this case I was interested I just could never catch it and never thought to you know, dvr it, even more now i've read the truly awesome larry hama comics. Still really good.
Robots In DIsguise: I only saw an episode of this but I liked the premise, It was just clear if you hadn't seen prime, even as a soft reboot this was going to be hard to follow. Which is a shame as it had he, grimlock as a main character. Granted I didn't REALLY like painting him green but still dinosaur man!
A World of Our Own: Say it with me now "I wish i'd seen more of it", though in this case by this point I didn't have satalite tv anymore, so I watched it while babysitting a few times. It was neat though and I wa sintrested.
Cyberverse; About the same with me also forgetting it was on netflix. New Gen MLP: I've seen the movie, which was decent, and me and a friend PLANNED to watch the series, we just haven't yet. It looks good though.
EarthSpark: I REALLY fucking want to watch this one. It has a stacked voice cast a brilliant premise that FINALLY breaks away from autobot decepticon war for the first time since armada (Though Animated at least had a fresh take on it), by showing what comes after, I haven't seen it but I really want to I just keep forgetting.
(Phew) Okay next time maybe don't pack so many shows into one of these.

Why Do I Like AppleDash So Much?
Literally nobody has ever asked me this but I'm going to answer this question anyway.
Intro: How I Got Into My Little Pony
Imma be real. The reason I started watching the show is because some of my old Twitter mutuals were interacting with posts about the Friendship Is Magic 10th anniversary. Some of them were talking about Rarijack and how it was a good ship, and others were discussing the implied canonicity of Appledash.
I had, at the time, just finished catching up on The Owl House that had recently been in the process of finishing up season one or had just gone into hiatus (can't remember which) and I was losing interest in my old hyperfixations fast.
See, I do this thing where I get really REALLY invested in a show and then as soon as it ends or as soon as I absorb every bit of media in it, I lose some of the interest or it fades. I don't usually lose full interest. For example, I still love She-Ra (my last big fandom) and I'm obviously still invested in The Owl House, but ever since both of those shows ended/stalled, I was desperately needing something to distract me from the trials and tribulations of my will to live that my daily life often forced upon me.
As you can guess, ponies was my solution.
I went into the show with a Rarijack mindset, but knowing that Appledash existed. I guess my mutuals just really liked Rarijack. I decided to give season one a chance. Actually, I felt quite silly for even deciding to watch the show. You see, back in 2018, I was still quite... trivial about watching anything that was seen as "girly". I didn't really have any problems with watching cartoons (ie. V*ltron, Steven Universe, Avatar, Pokemon etc.) but it was the fact that a show was "girly" that made me iffy. I had a very fragile masculinity, okay?
Anyway, so I actually was really afraid to watch She-Ra, even though the teaser images and trailer looked good. But I did and I decided that even "girly" shows could be good and that I was silly.
But, oh boy, cringe culture really messed with me. In mid/late 2020, I was ashamed to watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I said I'd watch one season just so I could laugh at it. I wanted to watch it as a joke, and who knows, maybe I found a guilty pleasure to watch while I waited for The Owl House to come back?
I loaded up Netflix and I hit play. Instantly, I was cringing at myself. Can you blame me? Early season MLP was obviously meant for kids. Not that it was immature or bad, but it was definitely a kid's show, especially considering the iconic storybook opening of episode one.
I watched the episodes, but they mostly were just background noise as I did other things. I remember watching them, but I was indifferent, although frustrated that I found myself chuckling at a few of the jokes and quips. I wasn't that invested, though. I thought Twilight was boring, Rarity obnoxious, Pinkie annoying, Fluttershy frustrating, and Rainbow Dash infuriating. I didn't really mind Applejack, I mostly kinda just thought she was the best one. (Nothing's changed, eh?)
And then....
Fall Weather Friends
Season One Episode Thirteen rolled around.
It starts (as y'all know) with Rainbow Dash and Applejack throwing horseshoes.
I don't know why, but this caught my attention. Of course, being only a few episodes after Look Before You Sleep, I had Rarijack on the mind. But I did think that Applejack and Rainbow Dash were probably good friends and would make for an interesting pairing, and a more interesting episode given their similarities, but also their differences.
I found myself fully watching this episode, and I dare say, it's the episode that dragged me fully into the show.
Maybe it's because I see myself in both of them in a way. Maybe that's why I connect so much with the pair, but them having an episode together? That was really good for me. I wasn't in the best state of mind, and something about seeing two characters that were in some ways reminiscent of myself interact and argue and have an endearing episode together made me smile.
It was then that I discovered the simple amazingness of AppleDash.
I mean, who doesn't love obnoxious, competitive girlfriends that are both prideful and headstrong?
I know I love it.
Anyway, so at that point, my mind kinda just clicked and I decided that my OTP was AppleDash. However, poly rights and Applejack has two front hooves *cough* Rarijackdash *cough*
But yeah so that's how I got into AppleDash. Fall Weather Friends, which was kinda the episode that made me love MLP.
How That Progressed
Well, obviously, I still love that ship I mean I live for it. If I could have any one single ship it'd be them. It just kept getting better and better as the show progressed, I mean their dynamic is great whether you want to see it platonically or romantically. They have a lot in common right off the bat (example, they are both incredibly stubborn, though AJ would take the cake for that) and seem to be close (I mean right from episode one they appear to already have a pre-established friendship), but they're also different. Applejack is a hard worker all of the time with anything she does, while Dash tends to be lazy but can be extremely driven when she is motivated (for example, when she wants to achieve her Wonderbolts dream). Applejack is immensely caring and family-oriented and does things for the good of everypony, while Rainbow Dash can be kind of a jerk and not mindful of her actions when she's wrapped up in the stuff she's doing for herself (not to say she isn't caring, but she tends to be kind of an ass, even to Fluttershy sometimes).
Their growth was immensely fun to watch and as time went on, they shared more and more screentime together. Even if it's not an episode that revolves around them, whenever one of them is in frame, most of the time the other is close by, and they often stand next to each other.
Now, in terms of why they work in the show's canon (in my opinion, either romantically or platonically, they do make a great pairing):
They are both competitive and enjoy competing with each other, though they know (especially after FWF when they've taken it too far)
They watch out for each other (AJ often holds Rainbow Dash back when she's about to rush into danger, especially in early seasons, and Dash always lifts AJ out of danger first [the two examples I can think of off the top of my head are in Best Gift Ever and My Little Pony: The Movie])
Their personalities even each other out. (AJ is a lot more calm than RD, and while they can both get worked up, Applejack is usually the calm one)
Their colour schemes are literally complementary. (AJ's coat is orange while Rainbow's is blue. AJ's eyes are green while RD's are pink/red).
They share a lot of cute moments. (You can just look these up)
THEY'RE HECCING CUTE.
AND FINALLY
I mean fuck, the finale. They're literally canon, you cannot tell me otherwise. It was absolutely intended and you cannot prove otherwise. (read the script notes l o l "we actually could do sort of a subtle wink to the idea that they are now a couple???" < RE Appledash). They live together, they have domestic arguments about chores, they are always giving each other fond looks throughout the episode, always standing next to or near each other, and well we all know Rainbow's iconic hoof on AJ's head in the last shot of the show.
Ashleigh Ball really was the OG shipper and fuck it, she was right. We all know they are in love, she knows they are in love. The only reason they couldn't explicitly state it in the show is probably bc Hasbro would have been against that at the time (I mean, Lyrabon had to be very subtle but hey we gottem).
Oh and, I know this isn't exactly canon canon, but it is an official game: The My Little Pony Magic Princess app. Future AJ and RD's descriptions allude to them being together.
You could negate this and say that this is just them being friends but I mean... come on. Come on. Sweet Apple Acres is Apple family land, and the only people who live there as of The Last Problem are Apples. (AJ, Sugar Belle and Big Mac and their foal, and you guessed it... Rainbow Dash).
You cannot tell me that they aren't canon. You'd really have to be grasping at straws because all the signs are there. They had build up, development, and it just makes sense.
If you don't think it makes sense... did we watch the same show??? It absolutely makes sense.
Anyway, AppleDash is canon. :)

And now my creepypasta parody of Cupcakes (Mlp)
Content warning/violence, torture, Cannibalism, death, twists
After their plan had blown up in their faces, Brain was ready to collapse. He was lying on their sponge bed while Pinky was messing around on a lab computer. “Brain, come look!” He called, He begrudgingly got up from their bed, feeling quite sore. “What is it Pinky?” Brain grumbled “I found this video Reading Cupcakes (creepypasta) it’s about Pinkie Pie! Though cupcakes and haunted spaghetti sounds strange.” Brain looked at the screen, the video showed a cupcake with rainbow frosting “How do you know it’s about Ms. Pie?” Brain already knew Pinky was amazed by the horse he shared a name with but the video didn’t seem to directly state anything regarding her. “Oh, She was on the front but her mane was really straight and flat and her eyes were so small, poit.” Brain was growing suspicious “Pinky don’t you believe this seems...sketchy.” “Maybe but it’s Pinkie, It’s gotta be fun fun silly willy! Let’s watch it together!” Brain was hesitant “Alright” he mainly wanted to be there to turn off if (more like when) it turned sour.
At first it seemed like Pinkie Pie came seeking Rainbow Dash wanting some help making cupcakes, but took a gruesome turn. The problem being both mice were entranced and couldn’t get themselves to stop the video before it was too late. When the video finally ended there was a minute of absolutely nothing. They had wrapped themselves tightly together, both shaking. “B-Brain?” Pinky stuttered, shattering the deafening silence. “Yes, Pinky” Both mice sounded rather dreary “I-I’m s-scared” “I know you are.” Brain couldn’t get himself to admit he was too. “We should get to bed regardless.” The smaller mouse trying to regain his typical demeanor. He broke away from the embrace quickly, standing up. “O-ok, I mean ok, narf” Pinky attempted the same though his narf was far less enthusiastic than it typically was.
The two curled up next to each other, far closer than normal. “Pinkie isn’t really like that is she?” Pinky asked genuinely “Of course not, Pinky, it was just a story. You know Ms. Pie is just like you.” Brain rubbed his companion’s arm in an attempt to comfort him. “Just like me?” “Yes.” Suddenly the fatigue he felt earlier hit him like a truck. “We should sleep Pinky” he yawned “Ok Brain” he sheepishly grinned. Brain’s eyes slipped shut, his last sight was his still quite awake cagemate, seemingly content though.
Brain awoke with a start, though the cage was still quite dark. Now that he thought about it, was he in the cage? He seemed to be suspended upright in the air by ropes tied to his wrists and ankles. His heart began to race, What was happening? Where was he? “Pinky?” He called out, concern flooding his tone. “Oh, you’re awake sleepy head!” A familiar cockney accent giggled calmly “Pinky, you’re ok! Where are we? What’s happening?” Brain couldn’t see anything but Pinky was near, that was good “This is my workshop you silly goose. And your number came up, you get to join the party!” Workshop? Number? Party? Before Brain could voice any of his inquiries the lights flickered on. His eyes couldn’t believe it. There were tables with various painted mouse skulls as centerpieces. Balloons made of livers and kidneys and stomachs were all around . Streamers of intestines lined the top of the walls of the gritty basement Brain was in. “Welcome to the Party, isn’t it fun fun silly willy that I finally get to work with a friend!” Pinky appeared in front of him, donning a fur coat made of squares of, all too familiar, whites, grays and browns. “P-Pinky cease this foolishness at once.” Because that’s all it was, an elaborate prank, a stupid joke. “But I can’t Brain, it’s my job. And a job is a job is a job and I gotta do it, troz.” “What job?” “To turn you into food pellets, Brain.” He paused “Pinky this isn’t funny!” Brain shouted struggling against the restraints. “Well cause it’s not a joke Brain.” Pinky giggled. As Brain moved trying to free himself, he caught eye of a table with various tools typically used by the surgical scientists. It wasn’t a joke.
“Pinky, I-I’m sorry. I-I’ll be better, no more bad names, we’ll play the games that you like...every other night. We’re friends, Pinky, you can’t do this.” He pleaded, whatever would make him change his mind, anything “Brain, I already told you it’s my job” no no he needed more “Pinky I...I” he needed to force the words out, his life did depend on it “Pinky I love you! I always have, please, let me go, I’ll keep quiet, I’ll love you forever. No one will know I promise.” Pinky stood in shock for a moment, then lovingly looked at him “Oh, Brain!” He swooned, he came closer. Brain crashed their lips together in a hopeful deep kiss. “Zounds, Brain! I’ve never gotten a goodbye kiss before. Oh, Thank you it was so sweet. This batch is sure to be good.” Pinky pulled away seeming giddy but Brain’s hope died as his friend spoke. “Pinky...but…” “Aren’t you a smarty Brain, I told you it’s my job, zort.” His gleefully expression drooped. “I don’t make the rules, Brain. I really wish I did but your number came up and those are the rules.” Pinky shrugged “Pinky…” Brain started not entirely sure what he would say “Wait Brain, I just remembered something.” Pinky ran off to another part of the room. Brain’s immediate thought was to think to escape but then if he did what would he do, to hide from Pinky, with the knowledge of this, to cope, with his life.
Pinky was back as soon as he left, hiding his hands behind his back. “Brain guess who’s here to see you?” Pinky asked gleefully, Brain stayed in silent confusion raising an eyebrow “Hey Brain, it’s me Snowball, let’s ditch the dummy and take over the world together.” Pinky said in a poor impression of the hamster. He waved around a skull reminiscent of Brain’s own head. Brain gasped, he and Snowball were enemies but the knowledge he was dead made him sick. “I know he didn’t have a number like everyone else” blue eyes stared into the empty sockets “but when would I be able to try hamster meat again. I remember you liked them, said they were slightly more salty. Troz” Brain remembered the taste so vividly now in utter disgust. At the time the fact that the food pellets seemed to change two days after he defeated Snowball didn’t mean anything. Now it meant everything. This dawned the revelation that he was eating mice on the regular. Nausea took over his senses, Brain wanted to pass out.
Pinky studied the look on Brain’s face, then seemed to snap his attention to the table of tools. “Oh, Brain, We’re getting behind, we should get started.” Brain swallowed hard, he wanted to voice more pleas for escape but couldn’t force the words out. Pinky picked up a scalpel “I should get your fur patch first so it does get all icky and red, narf!” The tick that usually gave Brain mild irritation or silent bliss now sent puncturing fear and disbelief through his veins. Pinky went to his back and, with the scalpel, lightly cut a heart. When he got to be about the full size of his back, he placed the scalpel where he started, pressing further into the flesh. “Nyaaaaaa!” Brain writhed, the cold blade sliced through his back. Pinky traced the heart carefully, cleanly cutting the skin. Blood started to run down from the bottom of the heart. Brain instinctively struggled against the searing pain. “Brain, stop moving, I’ll mess up the cut.” Pinky complained, Brain forced his body to comply, with the hope Pinky might spare him with mild injuries if he behaved. Taking deep breaths to try to slow his heart, even though he knew it wouldn’t do much. Pinky had completely traced his work, setting the scalpel down, he placed a hand at the top of the heart and slowly peeled the flesh from his friend’s back. Brain stiffened, eyes widened, he let out a small squeaky cry, a single tear rolling slowly down his cheek. He forced his eyes closed to prevent more tears. Pinky eyed his work, satisfied with how it came out. He walked around to face Brain and show him the pelt. “Oh Brain it’s perfect! I made yours special, it’s heart shaped. I usually make them squares.” As Brain tried to open his eyes a wave of agony washed over him as the air pushed against the open wound.
Pinky went to place the pelt somewhere else in the room. Brain steadied his breaths trying to ignore the pain. He realized just how out of control of the situation he really was. He pondered the irony of his demise. It was almost funny. Almost. “ I’m back, zort” Pinky greeted, his usual cheery tone felt foreign in Brain’s ears. The lanky mouse went over to the tools, grabbing a simple kitchen knife. “Now for your ziggy-zaggy tail.” Pinky went behind Brain, wrapping a hand directly under the first bend. The contact would be sensual if not for what Brain knew what was coming. Pinky slammed the blade down, creating a red slit at the base of his friend’s tail. Brain writhed as the agony jolted through him. Pinky took a couple more strikes. Lingering on a third to slide the knife through the cut, as he wasn’t making progress. Brain let his tears flow freely, he quite literally had nothing left to lose. Pinky struck the tail again, it did nothing. “Guess I forget to sharpen it.” Pinky dropped the knife on the table. He picked up a hack-saw “Brain, why do they call it a hack-saw, it doesn’t hack, that’s what I was doing with the knife, it’s a saw poit.” Pinky giggled, Brain quietly sobbed. Pinky grabbed the tail again “Pinky?” Brain sniffled “Yes Brain” “I want to go home.” This was pathetic, he was pathetic and he wanted to be alone. “I feel like that sometimes too but I gotta finish a job zort.” He placed the saw in the cut “Oh, Like how we do with your plans, we never really finish but we get as far as we can before we fail.” Pinky pushed the saw, cutting through the flesh. “You know, Brain, I don’t usually keep the tails, but yours is just so special I had to!” Pinky giggled but soon the sound of grinding flesh and bone was the only sound that filled Brain’s ears. Pinky sawed through the appendage until it was only attached by a bit of flesh “Hey Brain, think fast poit!” He didn’t have time to register what Pinky said before his tail was ripped away from his body peeling a long strip of skin from his back with it. Brain couldn’t handle the pain slowly passing out as it surged through him.
Brain felt a small pinch before awareness filled his head. “It’s very rude to fall asleep when your friend is hanging out with you, you know.” Pinky reprimanded “I mean what I fell asleep in the middle of a plan, ‘Sorry Brain, you’re just sooooooooooo boring.’” Brain looked up about to make his own snarky remark before noticing Pinky was chewing on something, flashing a curious look. The lanky mouse took notice. “I needed to try some so I took a sample from your leg. Want some?” Pinky shoved a small piece of meat into the shorter mouse’s mouth. Brain spit out the chunk of his own flesh. He shuddered at the fact it tasted good. “You could have just said no, it’s not like you haven’t eaten the food pellets before.” Pinky said surprisingly curtly. “Ahhhhhh!” Brain finally felt the wound on his thigh, for where the “sample” had been taken. He started to sob as he fully remembered the earlier events. Pinky started to laugh “You really should have seen this coming Brain, it says I’m insane in the intro.” Brain’s expression twisted into a scowl. “Oh you’re cute when you’re angry but for falling asleep, I’ve got a surprise.” Pinky walked away leaving Brain very confused.
He came back with a nail gun. “Pinky...what are you doing?” Brain said, faking his sternness and attempting to swallow his fear. “You’ll see!” Pinky giggled, turning on the power tool. He knelt down to be eye level with Brain feet. He struggled against the restraints once again. “Pinky!” He reprimanded, he was ignored,  the nail gun pressed against his left foot. Brain’s heart sped up, his breath hitched, his fear became known once more. “Please...don’t…” he whimpered weakly, he was ignored again, a nail shot through his foot. “Ahhhhhhhhhh!” The immediate pain of the puncture registered first but it was soon realized that the nail was burning the flesh surrounding it. He was using heated nails. Boiling blood ran off his foot and onto the rope that held it in place. Pinky went to the other foot as Brain writhed. The second nail went in, cauterizing the wound it formed. Fresh tears spilled fast and freely as another scream could be heard, Pinky giggled. He walked away, probably to go get something. Brain heard Pinky’s sadistic laughs, wondering if this really was the adorable goofball he fell in love with.
Pinky walked back towards him, heading towards something behind his tool table, a bundle of wires in hand. Brain couldn’t quite see what he was doing but Pinky appeared to be attaching the wires to something. He walked back in front of him, holding the ends of two wires. “Oh Brain I think you’ll find this next one quite shocking, narf!” he laughed “Pinky please, I’m sorry you...you don’t have to do this.” He pleaded softly, the nails still deliriously painful “You shouldn’t have been such a sleepy head Brain.” Pinky’s tone was casual “Don’t you bop me when I do something stupid?” “I-I thought you liked the bops?” “Oh I do Brain! They feel funny and make me get all…gooshy!” Pinky giggled, his eyes going half lidded and a bit of drool dripping from his mouth. “Don’t you love me, Pinky?” The mouse in question blinked out of his lovesicktrance “Well of course Brain, you’re my best friend!” Pinky hugged him, making all his wounds sting, including the one in his heart “Than why…” “Because! It’s! My! Job! And these are the rules. I know you don’t always get it when I say silly things but this isn’t silly. You tell me I gotta do my job and do it right all the time!” Pinky seemed to grow very angry on a dime, tying the wires to the nails “If you really loved me you wouldn’t do this!” Brain shouted, more pain than actual anger. Pinky walked over to where he before “You need to calm down Brain this might help.” A mischievous gleam in his eyes, he pulled a lever. Suddenly a strong electrical current coursed through Brain’s entire body. His muscles tensed, the pain unbearable and unchanging, the screaming uncontrollable and straining. Brain finally felt his body lost consciousness even though he tried to force himself through theare pain.
Another needle pinch in his abdomen before the awareness and trepidation came flooding back. “I’M SORRY! Pinky, I’m sorry.” Tears filled his eyes, wishing for mercy “Hush, It’s time for the harvest, this part’s my favorite, narf!” Pinky took a scalpel and pressed it deep into Brain’s sternum. The blood trailing down either side of his chest. He pulled the scalpel down his stomach. Pinky giggled at Brain’s screams. Peeling open the flesh to reveal the organs underneath. “Now to separate the good stuff from the bad stuff this is so fun fun silly willy! Like your plans, oh your plans. I’m sorry Brain you never got your world, didn’t you?” The sentiment sounded sincere yet demeaning “Pinky…” teary eyes looked into a sea of horrible sadistic beauty “Pinky you are my world.” Brain said in true defeat. He supposed it made sense that his world would end him. “Oh Brain, you stole my heart.” Pinky looked at his surgical work. He recklessly shoved his arm into his lover's ribs and pulled the aforementioned organ from Brain’s writhing body. “Now I stole yours ha ha ha narf!” With one last breath Brain’s eyes slipped shut.
Brain awoke a start, in bed, he was in bed. Brain was back in the cage, it was morning. He looked beside him, Pinky wasn’t there. “Pinky? PINKY!” panic filled his voice. “You’re awake! Brain? Are you ok?” “Y-you strapped me to a table! I-in a basement with dead mice everywhere! A-and you turned me into food pellets!” He spoke frantically “Brain that’s Rocket to Insanity silly.” “Huh?” “Rocket to Insanity, that’s the one where Rainbow Dash dreamed up Cupcakes and then goes to Pinkie and stabby-stabs her. Wait, you’re
not gonna stab me are you, Brain?” The smaller mouse looked at his friend in relief then processed his question. Without another moment his lips were locked with Pinky’s. “So that’s a no?” “I would never stab you, Pinky.” He stated gently “And you’re an idiot for ever thinking I would.” Brain quipped “There’s my Brain!” Pinky hugged him “I love you Pinky.” If that dream made anything clear it’s that those words needed to be said. “Really Brain?” Blue eyes gleamed hopeful “Yes, Pinky, really.” Pinky pressed their lips together. “I love you too.”

CHAPTER TWO: Equestrian Wasteland
Panic attack! A surprising, yet well described reaction LittlePip has to the vastness of the great outdoors. The little ghost story about the outside just being a black void also comes back one final time.
The prospect of finding Velvet shrinking dramatically phases LittlePip surprisingly little. Instead she just kinda starts looking for her by seeking a high vantage point. This pro-active attitude and little time spent on feeling sorry for herself is endearing, as well. I think this is gonna change at certain points, considering all the stuff that is going to happen to her. But maybe I'm confusing my memories with Project Horizons, in which the main character spends quite some time feeling sorry for herself. (And considering what happens to her, I don't really blame her.)
I love the light emitted by a terminal described as "the soft green glow of a poisoned apple". Horse gonna think of apples.
LittlePip remarks on the sturdiness of the StableTec terminals, looking new while everything around it decayed in some form. I think this actually has a (horrifying) explanation in lore. But we won't get to it for a while.
On it, we get a message from Velvet asking, or rather pleading the reader not  to look for her. LittlePip's enthusiasm is curbed by it, but not her plan. While she is considering her options she gets distracted by a light in the distance. So, uh, the issue that Velvet doesn’t want to return just gets shoved to the back row until it has to be confronted again at a later date. Seeing as finding Velvet is the bigger issue anyway, that's not very hard to accept for now, at least.
Oh and there is a encrypted message on there too. We don't learn anything useful about it and LittlePip downloads it for the heck of it. In my opinion, a weird place to stick this beat, as it draws attention only to get pushed aside immediately again and the payoff it has at the end of the chapter brings a minor revelation at best. This information could have been given later as well.
Now I was forced to admit how foalish that vision was.
Reading FoE made me realize they say "foalish" in the original show too. At least in season 1, which is all that existed during the time FoE was being written. Isn't that wild? Discord gets a mention very late into the story, otherwise all the world building is propped up on lore that existed *before* the fandom really reached it's peak!
And LittlePip runs straight into a slaver trap. I appreciate the effort to have her not recognize the shotgun and how the details of the situation slowly unravel until the dreaded clarification "They're slavers, you idiot". Makes it relatable that she fell for their trap.
Thinking about the slavers LittlePip mentions her "repertoire of colorful metaphors". Interesting to tell us about it instead of letting us see for ourselves later. Because, well, she undoubtedly does have quite the repertoire of colorful metaphors.
I absolutely love that the description of the music the Spritebots makes captures the song Pinkie Pie uses in the episode "Swarm of the Century" to remove the Parasprites perfectly. Even the first time reading I had that song in my head at this point.
LittlePip being a swift learner is yet another endearing trait on display when she sees one of the slavers fire his shotgun at the Spritebot and notices how the weapon works. Let's hope there is some kind of fight soon where she gets to implement this newfound knowledge!
I wonder why the raiders decided to attack the slavers. The slavers clearly didn't anticipate this and I doubt LittlePip or Montgomery Jack (the other slave) are such evidently high-tier cargo worth stealing. But hey, I got my wish for a fight and establishing LittlePip's talent with a bobby pin and screwdriver to unlock her shackles is already paying off too.
This kinda leads into a larger question of what raiders are and what they want, but I'll save that for later. Once we met a lot more of them.
Well, seeing how the raiders are beating them up, that probably wasn't why they started the fight either. Also, like with the slavers before, they throw in a threat of sexual violence against LittlePip that feels kinda cheap to me. Like, yo, enslaving her and/or threatening to kill her apparently isn't enough to paint them as bad guys? I understand that this is mainly a taste thing, as some people don't mind a story that is painted this dark this casually. I just feel like the story would not lose it's tone without them, while being more upsetting than it needs to be with them. At least here, in Chapter Two.
LittlePip’s first fight is awesome. It's scary, it's fast and has a few surprises. The biggest one probably being that the question of killing others hasn't come up yet. If we are familiar with Fallout (at least 3 and onward) this shouldn't be a hard question to answer, but LittlePip tries to avoid it here.
Montgomery, like a more experienced Fallout player however, finishes the raider off and starts to loot them. Showing LittlePip the ropes of the game. How nice of him. Then he robs her. That's not how I play Fallout, but the games pride themselves with their choice of options, I guess.
That he instructs LittlePip to check the bodies, she therefore has to puke into the river because of it and sees Montgomery's shotgun reflected in the water behind her head is just great dramatic storytelling. I can just see the movie version of this in my minds eye.
However, LittlePip actually manages to get out of this with a little luck in finding the raiders shotgun next to her (which is a combat shotgun, unlike the regular one the slaver had and Montgomery is holding now) and by packing everything she learned about the two weapons into a convincing argument. Making her win the fight before it started, which is just genuinely bad-ass.
Finally LittlePip makes it into Ponyville -- pursued by a sniper. Can't catch a break!
No, she or he could just wait until I came out.
Something that might not be very noticeable yet is how FoE has kind of a inverted societal structure when it comes to gender. MLP had this too, to a degree, as it was targeting young girls. Here, we can see it transform the order pronouns are used in a common phrase. It might read as a typo or error but we will see that female characters tend to enjoy higher privileges and hold the highest positions of power. Of course that would affect their language as much as other phrases are transformed due to them being horses. See: "What the hay?"
A pile of torn-up cloth rotted in a corner, smelling foul, like ponies had urinated on it repeatedly.
Nooo, Rarity's work and art :(
Finally, we get to read the encrypted message from earlier. It's Applebloom’s final words to Sweetie Belle, letting us realize that at least some of the Apple Family has been in Stable Two when it closed and it's first Overmare was Sweetie Belle, Rarity's younger sister. That’s cool to know, but doesn’t affect much of our understanding of anything yet.
Level Up! New Perk: Horse Sense. As we saw, LittlePip is a swift learner. I usually feel like whatever LittlePip learned in the chapter influences the perk she receives at the end. But shouldn't a perk only affect her after she got it? The allusions to RPG mechanics kinda fall apart a little bit when you think too hard about them.
Since they are a "Footnote" I'll just imagine that LittlePip leveled up and received the perk sometime *during* the chapter. Ah, now the world is right again.

i’m still on hiatus as of writing this, but by the time i post this i won’t be.
ive been watching a lot of netflix lately, and i’m pretty much just going through my “to watch” list, so i thought i’d give some thoughts on some of the show’s ive watched so far.
this’ll probably get super long.
oh shoot i forgot i had this post as a wip. i went on a phase of watchign shows for a bit when i tried to step away from tumblr for a bit a few months back. this is definitely super long, so heads up if you click read more, you’re gonna scroll for a while.
avatar:
i watched this show all the way though at least twice, and many scattered episodes several times over the course of years, up until i stopped watching tv altogether, which was quite a while ago. at some point i realized the last time i watched it, i didn't know i was asexual. it kinda made me realize why i didn't quite get the romancey bits when i was younger.
i don’t want to spoil the show on the off chance you haven't seen it, cause this is one of those i think is best watched unspoiled, but even if ya know it, the show is incredibly fun to watch.
it has amazing fight scenes, fantastic animation that still holds up (impressive for a kid’s tv show of it’s time, if you ask me,) and incredibly complex and interesting characters that change and grow along with the plot, which raps up nicely by the end of the third season.
10/10 one of the best shows of all time, even outside of animation. amazing rewatchability, too!
BNA:
all i knew of this going in was from gifs a friend kept reblogging.
it’s basically a zootopia-esque story, about a human who has turned into a beastman, which are these human-like creatures that can also turn into animals? it’s kinda weird but ok my suspension of disbelief has worked harder before. it’s also pretty short (12 or 13 episodes i think,) so the story is pretty packed together and moves pretty fast.
i loved the animation. it’s an anime from studio trigger, and i LOOOOOOVE that animation style!! hoooly shit guys it’s SOOOO GOOOOD!!!!!! the colors and general feel of the show visually is just top tier. lots of interesting colors and shapes and expressive poses and expressions! i’d recommend it purely on it’s aesthetic, cause it’s gorgeous.
unfortunately, i think the story kinda sucks. i don’t think it detracts from the show much, but i felt like a couple of the story twists (especially towards the end) kinda came out of nowhere, or where kinda crammed in there as best they could to make it fit. the best twist i think was with shirou, which was set up in episode 1, and i pretty much was expecting that reveal.
tbh, the best episode was the filler one, where michiru plays baseball with some bears. idk man it was just fun. wish there were more episodes like that, where she just got to have fun being a beastman. I did like how the bears stuck around after that episode, though.
8/10 i’d say it coulda been better, but it's till good for what it is. ya can’t have a perfect show, and i’d say it’s still fun. i’d watch it again with someone, cause ey, i liked it. i think i was mainly dissapointed cause i was expecting a lot more, and i watched it right after avatar, which i think IS a perfect show. i’d watch it again, though. it’s good!
She-ra and the princesses of power:
all i knew going in was that someone i watched on youtube thought it was good. i may have seen gifs at some point, but idk. no one i know watches it, or at least they don’t talk about it if they do.
if you liked mlp, you’d like this. it has some very almost corny “friendship is powerful” messages, and it’s obviously girly. it’s still good for all audiences imo, but the sheer girliness of it may be hard to get through at first. it mellows out as it goes on and the story gets a bit darker, but those themes of friendship and love don’t go away. tbh, “power of friendship” is one of my favorite tropes, and this show has a lot of it.
aesthetically, this show id my fucking JAM! PURPLE!!! PURPLE EVERYWHERE!!!!!! HOLY SHIT EVERYTHING IS PASTEL AND PURPLE GUYS I LOVE IT! 10,000/10 man i love purple. The animation wasn’t as good compared to the last two shows i watched, but i mean, i came from anime. that’s not a fair comparison.
i also really liked the story, especially as it went on. Early on, Adora and Catra end up on separate sides of the fight, and it was really interesting seeing the two’s progression in the story. I especially love Catra. i think her progression was interesting, and complex, i loved seeing her manipulate her way to the top. also she’s tsundere, in a way that i actually liked.
i should say i kinda didn’t like Bow at first. The first two-ish seasons, they really played up the girliness with him, but he gets more interesting later on, and ends up really likeable to me. He reminds me of my character Carter, though, in that he’s a male character that is very feminine and ain’t afraid of it. it was kinda jarring at first, but i can respect that.
also, the show has tons of gay characters, and at least one nonbinary one (though they’re a neutral character that initially aligned with the villains. take that how you will.)
9/10 i think the beginning is a bit too over the top girly, but ya kinda jive with it as the show goes on, and the story gets darker as it goes on, kinda like avatar. if ya liked that, follow it up with this. Also, hnnnn purbleee’
Kipo and the age of the wonderbeasts:
i had no idea what to expect going in. all i knew was what i saw in the promo.
it’s a post-apocalyptic type of setting, where animals are mutated, and most are sentient. humans live underground in secret societies called burrows. kipo is separated from her dad when her home gets destroyed, and meets up with a couple of humans and a mutated bug in order to find her burrow. things escalate from there, there’s more going on, but alla that is spoilers, so i won’t elaborate.
it seems like it’s currently in progress, (i just finished season 2, and i’d bet there’s at least one more season) so i can’t judge it as a whole just yet. it’s interesting, and i like the idea, but tbh i didn’t find it quite as engaging as everything else ive watched so far? I like it, and i’m invested enough to watch the next season whenever it comes out, though. hopefully whatever’s next changes my mind, though.
i think i mainly just didn’t like the characters much at the beginning? but as i’m thinking about it, they’re starting to grow on me. i like kipo the most, cause she’s a goofy nerd who’s kinda just being nice to everybody, and it’s making her a lot of powerful friends who’ll have her back. i like how kid’s cartoons try and teach ya that being nice is a good thing.
7/10 it’s not bad, and i’d recommend it, but i feel like this story isn’t quite for me. it’s got a lot of potential to end up as something i’d really like by the end, though, so i’m gonna keep my eye on it.
Glitch techs:
i’m gonna write a bit before i watch it, but all i know is that its a show a mutual reblogged somethign about once. i think it was the theme song? which, if i remember correctly, was awesome. it looks cool, like a scifi show about kids who save a digital world or smthn.
ah so i never watched this show. will update y’all if i do, but i mean, i got into yougioh gx recently instead so it’ll be a while before i get back to this show. also, kipo got a new season since i started this, and i havent finished it yet but what i saw so far is really good.

A “brief” talk about the future of CaFE
I’m sure several of you are probably wondering, or maybe have wondered, why did CaFE go on such a long, unannounced hiatus? they’ve existed before, much to my embarrassment, but never this long, and usually I’d at least say something after a few months. But this time, well, it’s been over three quarters of a year. That’s a long time. So what happened? Well, a number of things. There was, of course, my little tiff with CiM. Which has been long since resolved and we’re all friends again, even if I don’t work directly for them any more, which is currently for the best (though maybe I’ll return someday, who can say? It’s not in the foreseeable future, however). Then, well, there was just a lot of little things that affected my mental health as I was recovering from that. Nothing to cause a monumental delay, mind you, but a lot of stuff that just made me not want to, or just incapable of writing about cute ponies talking about card games. I did manage to write half of the next CaFE early in the year, but I never did manage to finish it. Then, well, the big thing happened. And, fair warning, it’s not good. How bad is it? Well, even Pinkie Pie knows there are some things that no amount of parties and balloons and cheer can help you with, and this is one of those. My father died in March this year. To make matters worse, it happened just about a week before my sister’s wedding (which was lovely, though very bittersweet considering the circumstances). And I did not take it well at all. Writing was close to impossible for a long time. And every time I thought about saying something about CaFE, I just couldn’t. I tried many times. I really did. I was not myself for months. I still managed to go to BABS and Everfree and put on a good show and enjoy myself, though I had to work harder for it. I’m not 100% I managed to mask everything entirely, and I’m sorry if I affected anyone negatively. For what it’s worth, I really did try my best not to. But let’s get back to the writing. It was hard. Very hard. I kept starting things I wanted to write about, then abandoning them. The best I could manage was the Surprise’s Cards that Beat the Odds series (which I think I did a decent job with, though it’s pretty close to over) and barely managing Silver Spanner (which I honestly think helped keep me sane as it was something I could do for everyone that involved very little effort on my part. Though there have definitely been more mistakes in the past few months than I’d have liked). The fact that I managed to finish two thirds of the Bichromatism mini series is, quite frankly, astounding to me as it has been about five times harder to write than something like this normally would be. But progress is progress, and I’m glad to have been able to make it. Bronycon has also helped a lot. I spent a lot of time with my non-CCG friends at the con, one of whom used to be a fanfic writer who published a book with a collection of her short stories from Fimfic and sold it at the Bronycon Bookstore, along with many other writers. It was a thing someone helped organize and push through for them all, and I couldn’t be more proud. Though, admittedly a little jealous since she was having so much fun with her writing stuff and I was just unable to write at all recently. But mostly, I was definitely proud, and enjoying her success alongside her. And, of course, I also did a lot of CCG stuff! I played a silly deck I made with Grand Pause (though we admit it needs a little tuning stil), hung out with people, chatted with people, and so on. I went to the “fire”side chat and asked questions about the next set, a few of which I think were actually pretty good! I even had the impromptu idea at about 90 minutes before Meticulous Talks started to join them in talking about those very same questions, completely surprising cursedchords and Hithroc and, honestly, myself. And overall, I managed to really connect with many CCG players again in a way I hadn’t really done since, well, since too long ago. Being the last Bronycon, of course, there was a lot to see, and do. I looked at all the cute costumes. Hugged Vikingerik’s Scootaloo suit twice.Bought a lot of stuff at the vendor hall (well, 5 things is a lot for me, anyway). Went to a couple panels. Told some jokes. Talked with a random stranger or three. Played board games. And overall, just had an incredibly and unbelievably good time. I even joined an impromptu sing-a-long of Smile Smile Smile (my 100% favourite MLP song, though I’ll easily admit several others are better). Bronycon’s healing process was incredible, and I think it happened at just the right time for me. The MLP fandom, as a whole, is just deeply, truly incredible. It is a community of love, understanding, and tolerance. And it is one of the most wonderful things I’ve ever been a part of (despite not really being much of a brony myself, outside the CCG. I know, it’s surprising considering how much I do for the CCG, but true). Which brings us back to CaFE. I’ve been thinking a lot more about CaFE lately, even before Bronycon. A couple weeks ago, I even thought to myself “it’s time to say something. It may not be time to write CafE again, but you should at least say something!” I didn’t, of course, but just thinking that was a good sign that I was on the right track again, even if still a bit away from the station. CaFE is incredibly and exceptionally special to me. It is legitimately the thing I am proudest of making or doing ever. No joke. I don’t know how well I can express this considering how emotional I’m getting typing these words (I’m tearing up on the plane home from Bronycon), but I think it needs to be put in to words. It’s the longest running project I’ve ever had, aside from my first job. I’ve had many people come up to me and praise how much they like it, even to this day. Folks have made fan art for me, including fan animations and comics! I’ve been asked to sign cards featuring one or both of the girls for people, which has always made my day (though it doesn’t happen much anymore). I’ve been told by more than one person it was their favourite pony blog period, despite being 90% just text! I’ve had players new and old tell me they’ve learned about the game reading my blog, and that they love the format of two cute pegasi talking to each other. Cloudchaser and Flitter have become practically synonymous with “competitive player” and “casual player” in this game, and almost everyone who’s read CaFE and seen how well they get along (despite their occasional fight) knows that they too can get along with the kind of player they’re not (granted, that could just be because we;re all MLP fans in general, heh). The girls’ expressions are used both on the official MLPCCG reddit and the official MLPCCG discord, and even in CiM’s Slack! Bots have been named after them by multiple people across multiple platforms. They were the first outside of Enterplay to give spoilers, and they’ve done so every set. And, most importantly, a girl at Nightmare Nights 2014 gave me a spontaneous hug when she learned I wrote that blog, she loved it so much. In short, CaFE hasn’t just touched my life, it’s touched all of yours. And many who don’t read it any more or even play the game any more. Heck, some people who stopped playing the game still read the blog (when it was updating, anyway)! Somehow, CaFE was even influential enough that I was invited to a panel at Bronycon 2016 to talk about them and how they managed to impact you all (along with several other panelists), and it truly is a time I’ll never forget (thanks Teej!).So there was no way I could let it end here. Cloudchaser. Flitter. You may be minor characters in the show, but to the MLPCCG community, you are beacons shining across us all. Bronycon may be over, and Season 9 may be ending soon, but the card game’s still going strong, even if not as strong as it was in years past. You’ve both got work to do. And, well, so have I. So, for those who missed the announcement at Bronycon and/or Meticulous Talks, I’ll say it here, and I’ll say it proudly. CaFE is coming back! In September or even late August. And I couldn’t be more excited. And I hope you all are too. See you all soon!

MLP|Cutie Mark Story|Novella White
This is a cutie mark story with 2,500 words. I accepted the request made by @segasister after they donated at my PayPal.  -My little pony (MLP) -Bullying -hella long
“Heading to school, mum! Be back later!” A small cat-like pony yelled over her shoulder to her mother, Eagle Shield. Her whiskers twitched waiting for the quiet ‘Okay be safe, love you.’ in return. The small cat-pony gently shuts the door to her home and head towards the school. She was running a bit later but at least she wouldn’t be noticed as she slips into the classroom to her seat. This thought makes her slow down just a bit more, it sucked being the only cat-like pony in this city. No one liked how she looked so she got bullied, often, but she had her mother backing her always.
Slowly trotting up to the doorway, she hears the other fillies shushing each other and quietly giggling. What could be so funny, she thought. Nudging the ajared door the rest of the way open, she is suddenly soaked and something hits the top of her head, hard, causing her to let out a cat like yell and hiss. Then the laughter erupted throughout the whole classroom. Not looking up, shivering and shaking holding back tears, she sees the bucket rolling away from her.
“Hah, Novella White? More like kitty kat wet!” Novella looking up, sees two boys get up from their seats and trot over. They weren’t the brightest but that didn’t make them any less mean.
One of them picks up the bucket smiling around it while the other splashes Novella with the puddle on the floor. She squeaks and backs up into someone else. Looking behind her, expecting another bully, seeing Sugar Song, the teacher.
Frowning down at the three fillies in disappointment, “I see you three decided to clean the floors before class.” She says. Novella opens her mouth to protest but the filly with the bucket speaks around it, “Yeah, Novella tripped and fell into it while we were cleaning, right Novella?” The two fillies glare at Novella, silently daring her to speak the truth. Instead, she simply nodded and lowered her head, her cat-like ears slipping back in defense.
Ms. Song looks between the three of them, “Then I will make sure all three of you clean the entire floor after class. Now one of you clean up this mess and the other two go sit down in your seats. I have some exciting news to share with the whole class!” She walks away expecting her demands to be met.
The boys toss the bucket and a towel at Novella before going over to their own seats snickering at her. Picking up the towel between her hoofs she sits down and starts to dry herself off as Ms. Song starts the announcement.
Ms. Song pulls out a stack of fliers out of her saddlebag and gives a few to each pony in the front to pass back. “As you can see on these fliers, there is a story competition starting today! You may sign up after class at my desk and it ends in a few months. It is for all kinds of stories told through the paper, a drawing or writing either one. As long as you express your story on your piece of paper!”
Putting the bucket and towel away in the closet, Novella takes a seat at her desk in the back of the room, looking down at the piece of paper that lands on her desk. Her whiskers twitch as she reads over it and taking in the information Ms. Song says. Novellas ears perk up in wonder, should she sign up? This seems really fun to do and no one else would read her story so she can’t get made fun of it if it is dumb.
By the end of the class, she had to help the bullies clean the classroom while Ms. Song graded papers. Novella kept glancing at the sign in sheet on Ms. Song's desk not sure if she should sign up, what if she doesn’t win even 5th? The humiliation, the shame, oh don’t forget the bullying! Her mind was whirling with the negative outcomes that could come with it, but it came to a dead stop when she started thinking of the positives. What if she stopped the bullying when she does win? What if she even gets her cutie mark?! With that mindset, she starts to slowly walk over to the sign-in sheet when one of the boys stops in front of her.
“Are you thinking about signing up for that stupid contest?” Shyly fidgeting away, she nods and quietly whispers a, “well… yeah…” The bully lets out a quiet snort of laughter. “Like you could win anything, let alone write anything.” He flicks her horn, causing her to flinch away and rub her horn, “You can’t use your magick very well like everyone else,” he points at her flank, ”you’re a blank flank,” then he finally holds up one her paws, ”and you have wee lil fragile kitty kat paws. You might as well not even show up to the contest.” He turns away from her, lightly hitting her with his tail, going up and signing into the contest. As he does so he glares back at her, smirking. Novella looks down at her hooves, they are just like his, right?
By the time they were done, Ms. Song finished grading and followed them out. Novella quickly ran home, going into her small home and shutting the door with her hind hoof. “Novella?” Her mother, Eagle Shield, says from the chair in the main room. “You alright honey? Your home later than usual..” Novella timidly nods and slips her saddlebag off of her back, sighing. “I had to help clean up after class... Sorry, mom..” Ms. Shield looks surprised, “You got in trouble?” Novella kicks at the ground before going and sitting down next to her mother. “Well no… Some other fillies spilled some water on me while they were cleaning and I had to help them after class.” A quiet ‘oh’ came from her mother as quiet calm silence fall over them.
“What’s that coming out of your saddle bag? You got homework you need to do?” Ms. Shield walks over and dips down to snatch the paper out of Novella's saddle bag. Novella, feeling confused, looked up, “No I don’t ha-have school work-” It was the contest flyer. “What’s this?” Ms. Shield looked at the flyer, holding it up with her magic now, scanning through it. She perks up and looks at Novella. “Why didn’t you tell me about this Novella?? Have you signed up yet? Have you thought of a story yet, oh Celestia this is so exciting!” Novella giggled at her mother's overly hyper attitude towards this contest. “No, mother calm down, hehe.”
Novella getting up and looks up at her mother, “I haven’t signed up yet or thought about it really…” She looks down at her hooves, remembering what the young colt told her. Ms. Shield looks at her daughter, noticing her nervous habit quickly. “Oh, Novella, you have such a beautiful imagination. Why haven’t you signed up for the contest?” Using her hoof, Ms. Shield lifts up Novella's head to look up at her, softly smiling down at her shy daughter. Novella eyes welling up with tears from today she lets out a pitiful sniffle, “The kids said that cats can’t write... We have fragile paws…” Ms. Shields eyes widened in disbelief, what is up with these ponies and someone different?
She sits down in front of her daughter and holds Novella close. “It doesn’t matter if your ‘paws’ are fragile, you still have your imagination, your determination, your beautiful features. If you want to sign up for that contest then by Celestia sign up for it! Don’t let some snubs tell you what you can and can’t do!” She stomped her hoof on the ground next to them. Novella just nods into her mother's chest unsure how to react, other than be happy that her mother has her back. “Now you eat some dinner and head to bed, think up ideas for your story and I will come to school with you tomorrow before I go to work and sign up with you, alright?” Novella happily nods and goes off to do what she was told.
The next morning they did just as her mother said they’d do. Ms. Shield took Novella to school and signed in with her. While Novella nervously signed in, her mother talked with Ms. Song. The bullies came in after. At first, they were heading towards Novella, but when they saw her mother they went to their seats instead frowning almost pouting that they couldn’t tease Novella today. As if it was the highlight of their day.
During the whole class, she couldn’t focus on anything but what story to write. Should she do it on her mom or the teacher? Maybe a fairy tale based on a kitten princess? She doodled up some ideas and rough drafted a few times, till class was over. She rushed out and went to the library to get some ideas. They all had things similar to her ideas but she wanted it to be unique. Then she saw this dusty book in the back, she dug it out and it was the tale of the two alicorn sisters.
Then it clicked. She’ll write a story about the alicorn sisters! Novella couldn’t help but let out a quietly excited purr before quickly walking up and checking out the book, then dashes back home, ideas whirling quicker than ever.
Novella runs into her home and goes to her bedroom. She pulls out multiple pencils and pens and papers. Writing one idea then the next, late into the night till her mother made her go to bed. All weekend was the same, and the same throughout the rest of the next two and a half months. Novella lost some sleep and her mane was getting frizzy but she finally finished. Yawning and looking at the time she realized, turn-ins ended in an hour!
Without thinking about her appearance, she snatches her story off of her home desk and throws on her saddlebag and sprints to the school. She bursts into the classroom and drops her story into the turn in bin, her mouth dry and her mane worse for wear, but worth it. Novella turning around to take her seat sees everyone staring at her. Her throat closes up, her ears lay back against her messy mane, and her tail tucks in as she practically crawls to her seat. That will be more embarrassing than losing the contest.
The next two months was just full of the jitters for Novella, while the judges read over the stories and entries, she was nervous. It didn’t help that the bully bragged about having some famous author write his story for his entry. She was sure to lose now.
Here it is, at long last, judgment day. Novella shakes her head, her mane well braided her tail matching, her ears fluffed up with the rest of her pelt in nervous energy. No not judgment day, just contest day, the day that determines the rest of school for her. They had everyone that turned in their stories and art standing on stage. One side was the artists and the other was the writers, she was with the writers of course. Novella, of course, was with the writers.
Looking up as the judges came in, and there stood the very princess she wrote about. Everyone gasped in awe, Celestia herself was standing in front of all the fillies of the Elementry School of Manehattan. Her pelt color drained off onto the stage as she looked at the princess in great horror and fear. Celestia... The princess of all of pony kind… Read Novella's story... About her...
Novella wanted to run for it. Celestia, seeing all the little fillies expressions, giggled, “Now, my little ponies, we are going to call some ponys name and that some pony with go off stage.”
And that is how it went till there were only ten fillies left. Five on the artist side and five on the writer's side. Novella can’t believe she was still standing on stage, on the edge of fainting in front of the very princess that she wrote about. It did not help that the bully was standing right next to her smirking the entire time. Another one of the judges, Ms. Song from school, stood up and came on to the stage, “Now I will call your names one by one and you will come up and claim your prize.”
Ms. Song called the bully up first, “Onyx Armor,” here it comes... He got first place... Novella bowed her head as he went up to claim his prize, proudly strutting up, “, you got 5th place.” Novellas head snapped up faster than Rainbow Dash could make the rainboom, and Onyx just stood there in shock as the teacher put a dull green ribbon around his neck. “Congratulations, now please go join the rest of the class in the back.”
Names continued to be called and ribbons passed out, Novella was shocked again, name after name, ribbon after ribbon, till she was the only one on stage. Princess Celestia stood up and came onto the stage herself and stood in front of Novella. With a quiet and calm voice, Princess Celestia said to her, “Novella White, you, my little pony, won first place. The story you wrote about me and my dear little sister was beautiful. It felt like I was reliving my foalhood again... Thank you.” With that, Celestia put the blue ribbon on around Novella's neck smiling down at her. “Congratulations.”
Novella welled up with tears and thanked the princess and judges before running off stage excitedly bouncing around and purring. She won! She actually won!
“Whoa... Novella congrats on the prizes.” She stopped her miniature mental party to see Onyx standing there. She crouched down embarrassed and a little frightened. Onyx was never nice to her, what's different now? Wait, did he say prizes? Onyx stepped closer and pointed at her flank, she looked down at it waiting for his blank flank teasing but to her surprise, it wasn’t blank at all! It had the perfect cutie mark, an inkwell with a crown resting on top of it.

It was late afternoon under low clouds.  The breeze from the Great South bay was chill and carrying a light dusting of snow with it.  It was not cool enough yet for the snow to stick much.  Just patches of thin dusty snow across the road, here and there.  The port town of Milestago was too far ahead for us to reach today.
Nore's and my first foal, the filly Naleen Bel Nore, was pulling in the lead of our hitch.  She was leading the whole band of us in our Pulling cadence song, too.  Much as I do love the Shehan Ja Rom, it contains one tiny inaccuracy.
In telling of how I saved the Original Seven of the Rom, it claims that I died in the deed.  Seems pretty obvious to me that I didn't die!  I mean, here I am Pulling in the harness alongside the lovely chestnut sorrel horse who is my wife, Nore.
As the song got to the part where the I died and the band had to go on, finding the spring of Sha Ja Shehan, whose water and abundant browse saved them all, I grumbled, “It was a NAP, just a nap!  I came right along as soon as I woke up!”
It was equally obvious that my lovely horse was waiting for my little snort! With a grin, she pointed with an ear at the snow patch under hoof at the moment.  Naleen was leaving tracks.  Nore was leaving tracks. The soft crunch of the wheels in the hard packed gravel of the road announced that they were leaving tracks.  I wasn't!  Again!  Oops!
Smiling fondly, she avoided directly saying, that I was dead.  A ghost of some sort.  She pointed out, “Thanks to your nap, none of the rest of us died and we are now all free horses.”
Just then, Naleen, in the lead, steered us into one of the excellent Royal Road waysides.  Saved me from some embarrassing repartee.  She is a good filly, growing really well, too.
Unlike any other member of the band, even though a lovely sorrel like her mother, and very clearly going to be a big horse, like her mother had grown to be, she has a horn.  Not a short unicorn pony horn, colored like the fur of the pony; hers is long, straight and sort of an aged ivory color.  Her magic through the horn is a light green, similar to her eyes.  And strong.  Really strong.
We were setting up our camp, with our caravans in a sort of a ring.  Maina, Malit and their adopted filly, Shehan who was an abandoned waif pony from Haulmarket, before they took her in, camped to our right.  To our left, was Sando and his mate Phapa Al Oosa along with their colt Thom.  Across the mortared stone fire ring of the wayside from us, camped Rom and Sarel.  Their first foal was on the way, but not born yet.
Sando finished securing his awning out over the camp and securing his fabric booth sides to partly cover our camp and Rom's.  By copying him, we had a sort of weather cover and wind break around the whole camp.
Sando announced to all of us, “Today is Midwinter Day!  The shortest day of the year and the longest night!  Do the ponies of Equestria have any sort of holiday or celebration for today?
“In Gyptia the Masters had a celebration but we, as slaves, only served them.  We did not get to celebrate it.”
They all looked at old dead donkey me, waiting for an answer.  I replied, “They do have a celebration called Hearthwarming.  It is done with a pageant about how the land was found and settled.  Nobody, except perhaps the Exile, the old unicorn who teaches you your Equestrian, numbers, and history, knows where they came from.
“They do know that the three kinds, Earth ponies, Unicorns and Pegassi had a society that exploited the Earth ponies for the food that they raised.  Something caused a famine and they had to migrate to a safer place.
“They found the 'rich and empty' land that is now Equestria.  After they settled here, the old tensions came up again.  The Three Kinds did not trust each other.  The crop failures and distrust were blamed on 'windegos,' whatever they may have been.
“A group of foals, two of each kind were trapped by a storm or 'windegos' and found out that they could get along in harmony.  That broke the grip of evil on the land and the Three Kinds now live and work together in Harmony.”
Naleen nodded and observed sagely, “They didn't learn that lesson too well, really, did they?  I mean, donkeys, goats and us horses sort of got left out of the whole getting along in harmony thing, didn't we?”
Shehan, who was a pony before she got adopted by us horses, added, “While that is true, Naleen, there is another part to the celebration.  I got to see it from the outside several times.  After the pageant, they celebrate Harmony by giving each other presents.
“We could do that to celebrate our own harmony.  I mean we could give each other gifts.  After all, the Shehan Ja Rom tells a similar story and WE all get along.  Some of the ponies that we have met on the road are good sorts too.  You know, like Carter, that long haul freight pony whose caravan we fixed when he was broken down, there outside of Trottingham.”
I brightened up.  “That is a good notion, Shehan!  We can do the Shehan Ja Rom and give each other gifts!  We have plenty of good provisions to make us up a nice feast, too!”
We all got busy making up our favorite treats with Ka'chek flour and dried or preserved fruits.  Shehan got a big batch of bread together and was kneading it expertly.  It was shaping up to be a fine feast!
We all heard the creak and soft crunch of wheels on the road outside.  The pony pulling the wagon was limping.  That was all too easy to hear. So were his whimpers of pain.
Naleen left off rolling out her dough and went out to the road like a shot!  We heard her exclamation of surprise!  “Carter!  I never expected to see you this far south!
“Why are you whimpering like that?”
We heard his answer and his pain.  “I got a cargo for Milestago.  I slipped on a snow patch back there a ways.  I think that I broke somethin'. My right foreleg hurts something awful down close to the hoof.”
Naleen demanded, “Carter!  You drop that hitch right now!  Get over to our camp and have Nore and Marchhare look at your leg.  I will get your caravan over into the lee of ours.”
We heard his good natured correction, “It is a wagon, Naleen, not a caravan.”
“You just go and see my mom, got it?”
While Carter was limping his way into our camp, we heard the sounds of Naleen hitching herself to his wagon and dragging it to the safety of the lee of our camp.
When she re entered the camp, she saw Carter laying on his left side on a cushion.  Nore was laying a hoof gently on the lower part of his right leg.  She looked up and asked Naleen, “What did you see that caused you to send Carter here to me so abruptly, Naleen?”
Naleen diffidently suggested, “It felt like a hairline fracture of the right canon bone, mother.”
Nore nodded briskly.  “Exactly right, Naleen.  Tell me what you deduce from that.”
“If Carter had tried to go any further, his right leg would probably break completely in less than a half kilometer, mother.”
“Right again, my filly.  Now what should we do for him?”
“Fix the bone?  I never watched you do that, mother.”
“Now you will see the way of it, my dear.”
Carter nervously interrupted, “Wait.  What is this gonna cost me?  How long am I gonna be laid up?”
I stuck my hoof into the conversation.  “You should be able to pull by tomorrow, Carter.  You have been a friend to us.  We helped you with that wagon breakdown and you have bailed us out on crooked fairground and toll gate charges several times since.
“Besides, this is our first Hearthwarming celebration.  Be a shame to blemish it by not trying to stretch the goodness of Harmony to a friend, wouldn't it?”
“I see, Marchhare.  How is she going to fix a broken bone that fast?”
I shrugged. “No Equestrian words for what she is going to do.  You have heard about Nore's Death Touch?  This is the other side of it.  She can heal too.  She is teaching Naleen, so forgive the Gyptian between them as she works on you.
“We are going to use Gyptian for our music and dances but out of deference to you being here, we will use Equestrian for the feast and such.”
I left Nore showing Naleen how simple it really is to heal a broken bone.  The rest of us all went back to putting together the feast.
With the last of it in the ovens or on the griddles to bake, we broke out the instruments and the song began.  And the dancing.  Never forget the dancing.
Carter looked like he had gone to Paradise, watching and listening.  He did his best to lean his head back and trill for applause in our Rom fashion.
We did not have a lot to share around as gifts but the feast more than made up for it!
