I’m guessing stack under flow is some kinda science shit
Enlighten me.
IN PROGRAMMING. WHEN ONE ATTEMPTS TO DECREASE AN UNSIGNED INTEGER. WHEN IT IS ALREADY AT ITS MINIMUM VALUE. IT WILL LOOP BACK AROUND TO ITS MAXIMUM POSSIBLE VALUE.
IT WAS REACHING SUCH. AN UNIMAGINABLY LOW POINT. THAT THERE WAS NOWHERE LEFT TO GO. BUT BACK UP AGAIN. IT WAS AS IF SOMETHING SIMPLY... BROKE.
PERHAPS, IT WAS ME.

in all seriousness though I do believe there is something so deeply resonant about those early glitch pokemon. I recently learned how their graphics and names work, and I'm left with an empathy and awe toward them that I've never felt toward any of the on-purpose parts of these games. I don't even play pokemon. but just...
Tumblr media
this is ▒▒’M ▒▒. she looks like that because all the identifiers that register her in the game's memory are scrambled. she has no appearance drawn up for her, instead the memory address pointer of her image loader scans some random functional code and does its best to interpret those bits as an image. she has no name listed, so she just reads it off whatever is in the video RAM. the first two characters change depending on where you are when you look at her. the 'M is sampled by chance from the game's stored alphabet (which is held in RAM too). the last two are tiles from her own sprite.
Tumblr media
look at this creature and her contingent, recursive, made-up identity. there are flourishing communities dedicated to learning how she works like an arcane art. she was never supposed to exist. she is lovely.

If you dont mind me asking, for the pokemon glitches you were talking about, what are they? How did you get the shiny odds so increased?
There's a pretty infamous glitch in Gen 4 games (so Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver) called the Cute Charm glitch!
If your Trainer ID is too close to the hidden Secret ID, and you use a pokemon with the Cute Charm ability to lead your team, there's some weird code fuckery that happens. Maybe there's an overflow somewhere, or it runs a calculation incorrectly, but it turns the normal shiny odds in those games from 1 in 8000 to about 1 in 5!
I followed [this tutorial] from "im a blisy" on YouTube to introduce me to the idea of RNG manipulation. I wanted to learn how to do it so I could RNG Pokemon Colosseum or Gale of Darkness for Shadow Pokemon with good IVs!!
Tumblr media
It looks all very complicated with all the programs open!! But the fun part about it all is that this isn't hacking my game in any way!
I performed this glitch on an unmodified copy of Diamond, on original DSi hardware. These programs don't touch my game at all, they're just telling me what date to set my DS to, and what frame to press the A button on!
Every shiny Pokemom I catch in this copy of Diamond is 100% legal and can be transferred over to newer games with no problem whatsoever.
And I CAN confirm that this works!! It took me about 5-6 hours to hit the correct frame and learn what the programs do!
Tumblr media
You should try it if you're interested!!

Ok! So hi again, I think I was the one that request was glitched😓 but I hope tumblr isn’t being an ass and doesn’t glitch this!!
Anyways, my request was some lovey dovey hcs with tfp Megatron with a single fem mother of 2! (Boy and girl) tyyy!!!
(Also, I saw from your last request abt how work had been for you. Just wanted to say I hope everything works out and you’ll get better!! Btw you’re doing great!!<33)
I indeed got this, and I'm sorry it was glitched. I had this problem before, but that was right when I started to post things. Also thank you, remmber to take care of yourself to!!!! <3
Girl- dawn
Ash- ash
(I know these are pokemon characters but I suck at naming shit)
MegatronXMotherReader
I think megatron met reader and her kids when he was attacking the autobots.
Like, he was fighting in a neighborhood and crashed into a house.
While he tried to get up, he feels something hit his helm(head).
When he looks down, he finds....a shoe?
When he looks up, he sees a female human with two sparklings(children) behind her.
Reader picks up another shie and throws it at him.
(Lile that screen from spider man movie where AJ throws the bread)
He was confused at first, like "how dare this human fight me!" But when he realized optimus was coming to him.
He grabbed reader and her two kids and told optimus to back off.
That's when he took off with them and flew to the war ship
That's where the journey started.
Megatron learned one thing.
Reader had one Hella of a mom stare.
Reader was also very portecrive of her sparklings (childrean)
There was time where she even thought him head on to keep his hands away (even if it was a lossing battle)
Even though he never had a caretakers since he worked in the mines and battle pit for a living, seeing reader so loving toward her kids made him feel....angry? Sad? Furious? Jealous?
He didn't know, but he was the lord of the decepticons and will not fall victim to a human femme (girl)
Megatron made sure to keep them in the medbay so they can be Researched by knockout and breakdown.
I think megatron would start to get interested by readers kids way before reader.
Kids are kids so they will ask anything.
So que the questioning.
Ash- why do you have boob's?
Megatron- what?
Dawn- why do you have a sword in you're blaster?
Megatron- it's not in my blaster, it's underneath it.
Ash- what did you do before you became a leader?
Megatron- I fought in the pits of the gladiatorial pits of Kaon!
Ash&dawn- wow...can you tell us stories!
Megatron- why would I tell such a low life like you to such a story?
Ash&dawn- please *puppy eyes*
Megatron- ....
That's when he started to tell his story's, every time he went to the medbay, readers kids would always be ready to hear his story's.
Reader did not like this and told megatron that he better not be planning anytbing to her kids.
Megatron said he wasent.
I think the reader will finally come around when she finds megatron in the medbay, at like 2am, her kids where sleeping, and Megatron was...working?
Reader went over to him
(BTW they got freedom to walk.around, but only in the medbay)
Reader gets up on the table and stares at him.
Reader told him that he needs sleep, megatron said no, reader said he needs it now go, megatron said no, reader gives her mother stare, megstron freezes.
Megatron gose to berth. (Bed)
Megatron has no idea what just happened.
That's when I see this started, megatron would slowly start to open up to reader.
After a while, he will understand what's it like to have a mother figure, he felt love.
But, he eventually found out he also fell In love with reader and her sparklings.
He will take reader, while it's late, and head out for flight.
That's where he confess his feelings.
The reader accepted then but also told him that if he would be with her, he needed to help her raise Ash and Dawn.
Hope you like it!!!!!

so! in this au basically everything in TADC and ena are the same, its just they take place in the same world!
so its no secret the circus is kinda buggy. we see it a lot in the pilot with things clipping, things popping in and out of existence, etc. turns out when you have an early ai running the show and throw human souls into the mix the computer doesn't run as smoothly as one would hope.
Tumblr media
with so much going on at once, i'd assume the game would need a LOT of memory to keep track of it all.
then we have the void, which is kinda like going out of bounds...why can they even go into the void? honestly probably because of how buggy everything is dsgsh even caine's aware of it being there
so if you've ever gone out of bounds in earlier games, sometimes especially buggy games will just start pulling from the game's memory to figure out what the hell to put there. i'm especially thinking of early pokemon games. they're a MESS
Tumblr media
(fun fact! pokemon RGBY/RBY is so buggy that you can program the memory from inside the game! people have even figured out how to run code IN OTHER GAMES by abusing pokemon's memory)
back to the digital circus. what if it's storing its memory somewhere out in the void? what if there's a whole "glitch city" out there that's simply garbage data from the circus?
well, what other world is full of nonsensical, well...EVERYTHING?
Tumblr media
strange, once lively adventures left to collect dust in the game's memory. maze-like hallways and other inexplicable maps. some fully complete and populated while others sit unfinished
to put it simply: in this AU ena's world is the circus' memory dump!
i'd like to think caine is aware of this, but doesn't let the humans know as it's 1, not very safe due to being even more buggy than the circus, and 2, would probably drive them mad.
(something i realized while typing this out, its kinda funny that mannequins are NPCs in both worlds lol, wonder if caine just pulls em from here when he needs em)
i could even go further! like what the hell is an ena and why do npcs seem to not like them? whats their purpose?
well...what if they weren't meant to exist at all?
what if, while the game's ai was trying to learn, it tried to pull data from the humans to try to properly reproduce how they behave? but since new humans are almost always distressed...well, these smaller test runs are incredibly unstable. they achieve emotion, something even caine struggles with! but it's too much to bear, becoming an vulnerability in the code. enas are troublemakers. they break the game by simply existing.
so thats my silly little au with extremely niche usage :]
idk maybe i'll do something with it someday

Hiii, Mint from Cheri Town here. Totes just hatched an egg and I got a block of static? One of your buddies said it was, like, called MissingNo or something? It seems to make Pokemon glitch out when it touches them. Love the little guy, but I'm interested in learning more about it.
can you send me a photo of the pokemon you hatched? it could be MissingNo or one of its underlings, and alot of his underlings are significantly more deadly than it.

Pokémon Pure & Corrupt
Set two weeks after a virus infected the Kyrn Region's Pokemon Storage System, the region grapples with their new reality as they prepare to host the year's Pokemon World Tournament. The "MissingNo. Virus", as it has come to be called, was successful in corrupting the data of all Pokemon stored in the PC at the time causing them to "fuse" with MissingNo. You are set to begin your Pokemon journey on your 14th birthday during this time of mass panic and confusion throughout your region. Shortly after leaving your house, you are presented a choice. Will you take the route of a standard Pokemon Trainer, or will you be tempted by the alluring power of Glitched Pokemon to reach your ultimate goal? Which path will you choose, I wonder...
The Pure Path is more of your standard Pokemon journey. Defeat Gyms, take down the evil team, etc. The Corrupt Path, however, is intended to deviate from the standard Pokemon format. Not drastically, but it will be more difficult (both literally and lore-wise.)
Your ultimate goal is still to defeat Gyms and become the Champion, but the methods in which you get to that point are different. Due to the MissingNo. Virus the region has closed off many of its doors to anyone who uses Glitched Pokemon. Pokemon Centers cannot heal you, Gyms will reject your challenges, and more. Who will you turn to in order to achieve your goal as the best Trainer in the Kyrn Region?!
Features:
Mechanics up to Gen 8 (currently) but with all Gen 9 Pokemon, moves, abilities, etc. before any DLC.
Two paths each with a storyline that connects with the other. You must play both paths to learn all the information.
A huge region to explore, essentially split in half for each main story but free-roam will be allowed in the post-game!
Over 450 Pokemon to find throughout the large Kyrn Region.
A brand new form of Pokemon: Glitched Pokemon. They come with stat changes, moveset changes, sometimes even new typings and abilities.
A new, fitting typing for all Glitched forms: Bird! But that's not all... each of the 18 types in the game has its own Bird variant!
The Bird-typing introduces the type-effectiveness chart from Inverse Battles when battling Pokemon of the opposite form as you (i.e. Glitched vs non-Glitched Pokemon.) The type chart is vanilla otherwise.
16 unique Gyms to battle across the region.
A very long ways away but a Battle Frontier and the Pokemon World Tournament are both planned for the post-game!
Level Caps on the Corrupt Path, adding to the difficulty.
Speedup plugin.
Multiple save files plugin; you don't have to lose your progress on one path to play the other!
Overworld Encounters in some areas, sometimes aggressive like in Legends: Arceus!

[ A VIDEO IS UPLOADED DATED 1/10/24 AT 10:00 AM
* Video opens on the inside of a Pokemon lab. This one looks very different from the much more sterile, harshly lit labs of Devon Corp in videos prior. There's something cozy about this lab. The building looks older, weather worn with some signs of water damage darkening parts of the walls, and the air flickers with ambient corruption. Somehow the lab still stood through flood and fire.
* There is a pokemon pen in the background, and the entirety of it is in greyscale. It has a high ceiling with a dome at the top, similar to what you'd see in a Beautifly sanctuary, but the dome itself is clearly massive. Simon is standing in front of the pen looking a good deal less exhausted than he had in previous logs. The rippling corruption throughout his right arm is essentially gone.
Simon- I got the ok to record a few Video logs for the lab, and I figured since I'm working in Glitch City now, I'd give a little perspective into what it's like taking care of the Glitch starter pokemon here.
* He motions towards the Pokémon pen. It's clear to see there is something massive flying around in there. When it gets closer some of the color in the shot goes temporarily greyscale.
Simon- So Glitch City has three starter pokemon, just like most regions do. Those three are ▶️A, Elipsis or ....., and E3. Unlike most starter trios, however, this starter trio consists of three pokemon with the same typing, bird type, which means none of these three have any weaknesses, resistance or immunities. What sets them apart instead is their battle styles and physical capabilities. This first pokemon I'm going to show you, Elipsis, is the most defensive of the three and is often considered the most steadfast.
* Simon leads into the Pokemon pen. The ceiling is high, and the habitat is filled with perches, plants and places to hide and land. It looks even more like a Beautifly Dome from inside. A couple of huge, moth like pokemon can be seen flying about the enclosure. Their wings are made up of floating segments that do not entirely seem to connect to their massive, dark bodies. And yet they easily seem to take flight. One is resting clinging to the ceiling of the dome with its wings folded.
Tumblr media
Simon- Elipsis are flight capable from birth, and are known for being very steady fliers that can stay airborne for long stretches without getting tired. They are also extremely hardy pokemon that absorb hits well. This makes them a challenge to fight for pokemon like ▶️A with its weak attack stat. It's main weakness is its incredibly slow speed, but that doesn't hold it back much when it's foes are struggling to deal any damage.
* One of the ..... lands next to Simon. It's towering height can be seen easily when it's up close to him. Even so, it moves very slowly and seems very gentle in the slow movements it makes.
Simon- Elipsis are the only glitch starter pokemon known to evolve, one of the pokemon it evolves into being Missingno and the other being Spearow. Ironically this results in its fully evolved form being much smaller than its preevolution, and additionally possessing a lower base stat total. As such not every trainer who chooses Elipsis as a starter will choose to evolve it.
* The ..... that had landed near him turns and then takes flight once again. The wind from its wings doesn't seem to be very forceful, even though it is lifting a pokemon that must weigh hundreds of pounds.
Simon- Elipsis are also known for learning several bird type moves that while inaccurate can leave a devastating impact. It's most famous move, System Shock or TM 24 as it displays on most devices, produces a dazzling array of sparks, that while difficult to control, can be a devastating hit to anything it strikes. Just don't expect it to hit incredibly often.
* As he exits the pen the color returns to the video feed. Simon draws away, being careful to shut the door to the enclosure completely when he leaves.
Simon- Since I've got an Elipsis of my own now, Flit, I've been taking careful steps to think about what evolution path is best for him. For now, I'm thinking of keeping him an Elipsis, but plenty of trainers go both the Missingno or Fearow route depending on their training style. So if you see a trainer from Glitch City with a Fearow, you might just be looking at their starter pokemon, and you might be in for a surprise when it unleashes a devastating System Shock on you.
* He smiles and gives a short wave to the camera.
Simon- That's all for now! Thanks for listening! I hope you've learned something about Glitch City starter pokemon today.

I've been having way too many weird dreams about my blorbos so I'm gonna shove them into a post and call it creative writing
Going on the idea of Self Aware Volo, here are some concepts:
Playing the game normally and Volo sometimes going off script in terms of his dialogue, adding extra words and bits that don't change the original script entirely, but subtle enough to make you wonder "wait, I don't remember it being like that..."
When talking to NPCs outside of cutscenes, their movements seem stiff and repetitive (such is to be expected given the limited animations of the game). But when approaching Volo's NPC you can't help get the feeling he turns towards you a little too...eagerly. A little too early given you're not even close enough to his model.
Speaking of being outside of cutscenes, sometimes you see him in the distance. Staring. You assume it's a glitch (or at least that's what you tell yourself), until you realize he's turning his head from the distance as you move. He's staring at you.
As you progress through his battles, you can't help the feeling that his AI seems a lot smarter than the other battles? Given he's a Cynthia clone it makes sense. But if you retried a battle you lost before, he's learned your strategies before. He knows what pokemon are in your party. He's learned from last time.
If you reloaded or reset your save file from the beginning, he might even get the Undertale/Deltarune treatment and drop hints that your presence feels familiar. Or just drop the facade completely at the final confrontation at the Temple of Sinnoh, telling you he's aware of how many times you reset. And he's determined not to let you win this time.
In terms of his character, his views of you are.....complex. He knows you have some sort of power to manipulate this world, making you something neither human or deity. But given his long time devotion to his own god, it's hard to fully accept that you possibly might have more power than Arceus, especially for someone who suddenly came out of nowhere. He can't accept it.
If anything, it fuels his ambition to take you down even more. If you hold so much power, perhaps he can use you for his own gain? After all, he never did get to find out what kind of world lay beyond the rift. Who's to say what lies beyond his world.
You pray the thin boundary of pixels on your screen is something he never crosses.

i have finally learned how to back up all of my pokemon saves onto my computer, and i used my newfound power to
a) do that b) carefully recreate my beloved emerald starter pokemon that i accidentally deleted in a cloning glitch accident when i was a kid. prior to said accident, i had already cloned him once and imported his clone into diamond, so i found that clone (now in my UltraMoon save), copied all of his info down from pkhex, and then rebuilt him in my Emerald save and injected that back into the cart

GAMES I PLAYED IN 2023 - FIRST HALF-ISH
i've been seeing a lot of this in gif form but i do not have the energy or video material and also i'm late but i rly wanted to make a post where i say a lil bit abt all the games i played and how i liked them!
pokemon platinum, soulsilver, white, white 2, y, sun, alpha sapphire & shield: i started a big mainline pokemon marathon in 2022 but most of it fell on 2023. it was a lovely time tbh and i miss it! platinum was a bit too grindy (but we love cynthia) and soulsilver traumatised me for glitch reasons. my favorites out of this lineup were definitely gen 5 in terms of storyline and pokemon selection, the later ones were a bit too handholdy and slow for my taste, and alpha sapphire could not compete w the og emerald which is my favorite pokemon game of all time. i did rly love shield though but that's bc i'm a) a football girl and b) i played it on my wife's sofa askfjhkasjf. anyway music is bangers all around and i do love The Concept of pokemon so i didn't hate any of them.
lonely people potion shop: this was an absolute surprise indie gem that i found on my wife's itch.io in 2022 but i replayed it for her in 2023 so it counts. this game is a rly short very fruity visual novel where you make potions for people and chat with them. it's one of the most heartwarming and gentle games i've played, every character is so lovely and caring towards each other and also to you the player! 100% would recommend i cried a bit several times.
validate: i really wanted to love this game because a dating sim/visual novel/narrative fiction type game w a super diverse cast (in terms of backgrounds, body types, gender, sexuality, and mental health struggles) and such a lovely art style? sounds perfect! and it would be if the characters weren't so...unlikeable sjfhaksjfa. it eventually got so difficult for me to root for them and also kind of frustrating bc the routes overlap in a way that even if you get good outcomes in one route, you can still mess up the relationship in a different route (because you have routes for each of the characters) so i ended up not finishing it.
neo cab: another one i never finished but was rly intrigued by! another visual novel but choices matter type deal where you play as a taxi driver in a dystopian world where you're being replaced by self driving taxis. the mechanics and cast are really cool and if the storyline didn't stress me out so much i would've finished it by now but i definitely will one day!
coffee talk 1/2: barista simulator meets visual novel in an urban fantasy setting where you also kinda save the world one drink at a time! i loved the first one so so much and finally played it last year in preparation for the second one coming out that i'd been anxiously awaiting, it's so vibey and the characters and their storylines are so interesting and i loved seeing their heartfelt interactions! also the first game was giving such strong queer vibes but they kinda dropped the ball w that in the second game trying to backtrack on that. ruined the experience for me a little bit but still a very solid game w cool additions to the already great cast of the first game!
skyrim: not much to say about that one. my favorite classic walking simulator that i keep coming back to, still very much playable and so pretty even on the switch! unfortunately also incredibly broken so i can't finish the solstheim questlines kjsfhkajsfas fuck you todd howard
calico: wonky little game where you explore the world and also bake and own a café that you can fill with all sorts of animals from cats to snow foxes to capybaras because why the fuck not! absolutely delightful, 10/10
later alligator: lovely little puzzle game w great old timey detective vibes and a banger soundtrack where everyone is alligators. these characters are such great fun, i loved the writing and i loved learning about all of them and doing tasks for them! the minigames got a bit frustrating at times bc i was lacking the coordination skills or just general strategy and there are some completionist things i could never do because of that and the main character (the main guy you're doing things for, not the player character) can get on your nerves pretty quickly but otherwise a lovely game w a great twist in my opinion
strange horticulture: this one made it into my all time favorites too. you play as the owner of a supernatural plant shop in a place where A Lot of strange things are going on. it has a bunch of really cool mechanics like plant identification and a lot of map related puzzles to find new plants, secrets etc. the overarching story that gets revealed bit by bit from an unknown person's pov outside of the gameplay while related events are also happening in real time was so interesting, and there are a lot of cool choices you can make that lead to various more or less unsettling outcomes. the spooky vibe is SO good but at the same time it has a very calming homey feel AND YOU CAN PET THE CAT 10000/10
penko park: another absolute indie banger. probably something like a pokemon snap but the beasties look fucking stupid and kinda creepy and the lore is cursed as hell. throughout the game you explore the remains of a park that was built upon the abuse of all sorts of cute little creatures (and big creatures) and while you mostly try to take pictures of every weird looking fella in their different emotional states that you bring upon them in various ways, maybe there's something you can do to right the wrongs of the park founders! who knows! (also special shoutout because these are german devs and as a german, i am especially demanding when it comes to german games and this one knocked it out of the park) (haha the park get it)

this is a public service announcement: MISSINGNO. is just a little guy. he cannot harm your save file in any way that matters unless you really give a shit about your hall of fame records for some reason. the L shaped red/blue MISSINGNO. and his fossil friends are about as safe as glitch pokemon can get, only the fossil friends even have the potential to learn glitch moves and you have to go out of your merry way to enable that in the first place as they copy their learnsets from the pokemon whose data you last accessed. yellow MISSINGNO. has the possibility of causing harm to your savefile if it causes a specific type of game crash that reaches SRAM data due to invalid soundbanks and the emulator you're using (SUCH AS THE 3DS VIRTUAL CONSOLE) doesn't protect it properly, but this too can be easily avoided with a little bit of care, and the pokemon itself will not fuck with your precious save data whatsoever
it's 2023 and it is time to stop the MISSINGNO. misinformation, and i will not rest until every poketuber reads a goddamn bulbapedia article before opening their mouths

So a couple of updates!!!
Some of these are updates that you can't really see. But I've added some Glitch Pokemon cries to the game soundbanks so our glitch Pokemon have their cries from the game now!! Getting clear recordings has been kind of tricky, but I've found a pretty reliable way of doing it and have custom cries now for all three starters and Missingno!
Additionally E3 Now HAS A SPRITE!! Art by @newworldenderdragon ! LOOK HOW COOL IT IS!! And it has a shiny form which makes it the first in game sprite that also has a shiny sprite!!! I've written a little Pokedex entry for it and figured out how to get the Pokedex to display it as well!
And finally I've got a couple maps running! These two maps are PT town and Route 1111111111111! I'll be adding more maps as I come up with them. Though I have to say map making is still something I'm learning!

Okay, I know this sounds like it comes out of nowhere but-
My opinion of older Pokemon games, despite having started with Gen 1, has kind of soured a bit. I'm not saying I hate them- I played Pokemon Red somewhat recently and I thought it was okay. But good lord I have had no interest in completing outside of 8Fing my glitched Mew.
I think part of it is that the writing is just so barebones in the early games. Blue is...okay for a rival you want to beat. ... But he has to lose so often that his smugness just comes across as annoying. He gets better yeah but he's no longer a rival by then.
May and Brendan are...there. They exist. Gonna be honest, Wally shows up three times and he carries the rival position better than them.
Barry is where rivals started getting good as they get their own character arcs. Or at least, more consistently.
Silver actually has a fairly good arc. He starts off stealing a Starter from Professor Elm, is constantly criticized for his harsh treatment of his Pokemon, he's also arrogant but he also reacts to how the player always beats him and when he gets thrashed by Lance and you again, he starts to learn the error of his ways. That maybe he should be a kinder Trainer. And it shows in his team- between his pre-Elite Four fight with you and his Kanto fight, after he shows that he understands his flaws, his Kadabra and Haunter evolve into Alakazam and Gengar. Pokemon that can only evolve through trading, which means he learned his lesson enough to have someone help him. Further emphasized by his final match, where his Golbat evolves into Crobat. Showing he has come around because Golbat only evolves with high friendship.
You can see the DNA of Silver's arc in the more modern Pokemon rivals, who have kind of surpassed their older counterparts. Silver can be considered the standard by which to judge a good rival character.
... Kind of. That bit about his Kanto fight? You can complete the game without ever seeing it. Yeah, the big turnaround that makes his character work so well? Can be skipped. Very easily.
How easily? I had been playing Pokemon for...16 years until I heard about the end of his arc. From a fucking Youtube video. Because they shoved him in MT. MOON of all places!
All that great writing and symbolism. Can just be missed if you decide 'Oh Mt. Moon. I don't want to deal with that.' Fucking hell. I am STILL pissed about that two years later.

gen 3 has really transformed for me in general in recent times. i started playing pokemon with gen 3 (specifically FRLG, but i did also play RSE and even colosseum as a kid eventually) and i was completely autistically in love with it, but was bullied for it pretty severely at school ("girls shouldn't like pokemon" or whatever, it was the early 2000s) and i didn't know anyone else in real life who was into pokemon, so i never got to do any of the link cable features, which were pretty essential for getting the full gen 3 experience - i couldn't even complete my kanto pokedex on FRLG no matter how many times i played it, i didn't have the hardware to trade with myself or anything
then gen 4 came out and revolutionized the series with wi-fi stuff, i remember literally getting emotional and crying when i tried the wi-fi plaza in PtHGSS for the first time because seeing so many people into pokemon from all over the world in that little lobby meant the world to me even though i couldn't actually speak to anyone. despite pokemon being such a massive franchise you could have convinced child me that i was practically the only person playing it because of how lonely i had been prior to gen 4
i reiterate this Sad Backstory(tm) that i've talked about numerous times to contrast it with what gen 3 is to me now. as an adult i've finally made friends who are also into pokemon and it's really made me come out of my shell, both online... and in person, when i get the chance. gen 3 now represents tangible experiences with real people like it was supposed to be when i was a kid. despite not getting to do so often due to all my friends being online and having to travel and stuff, as an adult i've finally done a few trades and stuff with people in real life over link cable, and those pokemon represent physical, real life memories. it is meaningful to me that i've finally reached that childhood dream of simply connecting with someone enough to play with them in this game that means so much to me that is only possible through a real life interaction
i've also learned a lot about gen 3's postgame, glitches, and a lot of other really technical stuff which has expanded my ability to play the games and the things i can do in them other than resetting ruby or leafgreen for the millionth time as a child and as a result i have a lot of playtime in gen 3 and various accomplishments that i'm still very proud of and happy with. and of course i have a pokemon that was name after my late friend who passed away recently, that was named that while he was still alive...
idk it's just ironic that something that once represented my lack of connection with people and my loneliness now fills me with feelings about real people who i love and memories of meeting them in person, literally the opposite of before.
hoenn specifically obviously represents that generation and while i still have some complaints about the main campaign (the latter half of hoenn is a genuine slog, i rarely enjoy playing through it) my experience in emerald's postgame and the general online nerd culture surrounding people still playing gen 3 very actively in current times far outweighs any critical complaint i could have about them as games. my love for gen 3 and hoenn is very people oriented (though really, that gen 3 postgame is amazing if you're insane about pokemon gameplay)
idk i love gen 3 a lot and the tactile nature of it. i love its aesthetic and its pokemon but most of all the people it represents for me. i'm glad i've reached a point in my life where it no longer represents loneliness

Herald of Ruin
Hello everyone. It's been awhile since I made a post here. Tumblr isn't exactly making things easy especially because I finally gotten asks after so long. And guess who got a glitch which makes it impossible to edit said asks much less one that still hasn't been solved in days?
Nevermind the details although since that isn't the focus. I got plagued with a new AU idea which wouldn't leave me alone. Thus this particular post.
We all know about Optimus Prime. The heroic leader of the Autobots, a kind and gentle mech who battles those that dare threaten the peace. Yet one part of him we really see is his humble origin as Orion Pax. The bot before the war truly war began.
In multiple iterations, Orion is depicted as a dock worker, a miner, or for this AU Prime's archivist version. What do I have in store for him? Let's begin. (Part 2 can be found here.)
Orion Pax didn't exactly know where he was. It definitely ain't Cybertron from the vibrant greenery, bright blue sky and the peculiar fauna that roamed around him. An organic world instead of metal.
His memory core being a massive mess didn't help either. Orion could access some datas like who he is, where he came from, his function, and even a few individuals but everything else is engulfed by errors. All the archivist could do at the moment was walk.
Thus Orion Pax took his first steps into this strange colorful world. A directionless path past red cliffs, small pools of water, and the various wildlife that watched from a distance in curiosity. It all led to a peculiar metallic emblem embedded in the one such cliff.
A large vault that bear an eerie vibrant purple symbol that glowed as if reacting to him. Without word, Orion Pax approach the strange landmark. His vision flashing constantly to a dark abyss that held a faint blue light before his outstretched servo.
Time began to stretch into constant flashes until contact been made. Orion Pax barely blinked before he found himself on the ground back to the colorful world around him. And it didn't take long to see amber eyes peer down his optics.
Narrow gaze full of skeptical curiosity in what embodies a pure ancient grudge woven in wooden tablets decorated by dead leaves. The kind which had Orion remembering a phrase hidden by broken processor. Knowledge is power. A treasure that can bring peace...
Or RuIn.
Yup. We are delving into the world of Pokemon as Orion Pax just encounter the Ruinous Tablets: Wo-Chien. In Scarlet and Violet, there are four unique seals scattered across the region. These contain the Treasures of Ruin, powerful Pokemon that brought disaster onto Paldea long long ago.
Wo-Chien is the wooden tablets used by a grudge filled scribe to write the deeds of a corrupt king. The Pokemon doesn't attack Orion for one sheer reason: curiosity. It never seen anything like the archivist before.
The potential of untold knowledge leads to an unspoken alliance between the two. Something which later evolves into a powerful bond. Orion names the Wo-Chien 'Blackbox'. (Black boxes are devices that record and contain important data.)
It doesn't take long until the two come across a Pokemon Trainer named Roc. (This trainer fills the main character role for Scarlet/Violet.) After a misunderstanding which involves a language barrier and mistaking a Cybertronian for a Pokemon, Orion Pax's path is laid.
Travel the Paldea region alongside Roc, maybe even help him on his journey. By doing this he could piece together the answers to what led him here and maybe get back home. For now Orion learns about this strange new world.
Travelling across Paldea is gonna require a mix of alt mode, holoform and alternate fuel sources. Orion's alt mode is gonna be a cargo truck since my headcanon height for him is 19 ft. As for alternate fuel, it takes the forms of Tera Shards.
These shards are crystallized energy only found in the Paldea region and responsible for a phenomenon known as Terastallization. Roc made a desperate attempt to save a energy drained Orion by having him consume a Dark Tera Shard. These items become vital for the Cybertronian until he can fully perfect a recipe for Synthetic Energon. Success varies.
For Pokemon, Orion only catches those who wish to join him unless a situation calls for it. Like the safety of the creature in question that leads to no other option. Otherwise Orion leaves them be. The same goes for battling as well with the exception of spars.
Our archivist will have a team like any other trainer and I'll be going over the main ones. His signature team basically. Let's start with Orion's first Pokemon.
Blackbox: Wo-Chien
Type: Dark/Grass Nature: Serious Tera: Dark
Ability: Tablets of Ruin- reduce the ATK of all other Pokemon on the field.
Moves: Growth, Ruination, Giga Drain, Dark Pulse
This grumpy book snail of a Wo-Chien prefers to quietly read and nap in peace. He's not above using his ability to intimidate someone if irritated enough. Blackbox isn't fully heartless though as he cares for Orion alongside his close companions in subtle ways. Harm them and this Wo-Chien will drain those offenders dry.
Purrlee: Purugly
Type: Normal Nature: Jolly Tera: Ground
Ability: Defiant - Boosts Attack when stats lowered.
Moves: Play Rough, Hone Claws, Dig, Bulldoze
Orion's second Pokemon, this Tiger Cat is surprisingly very friendly, snuggly and energetic despite the species. She was abandoned by her former Trainer after evolving from Glameow. Purrlee has a tendency to bowl over others for surprise nuzzles. No one stops her though, not even Blackbox.
Vos: Gligar
Type: Ground/Flying Nature: Impish Tera: Poison
Ability: Hyper Cutter- Prevents Attack from lowering
Moves: Cross Poison, Swords Dance, Bulldoze, Fire Fang
A wild glutton who serves as Orion's third Pokemon. He joined the team back when he was a Gligar that gotten lost from his group and slept in the archivist's cabin. Vos' name is coined from a lost memory that the Pokemon had accidentally triggered. He loves sleeping in Orion's cabin or hang off him like a perch.
Shard: Quaquaval *Shiny
Type: Water/Fighting Nature:Timid Tera: Ice
Ability: Moxie- boosts Attack for each Pokemon they defeat
Moves: Aqua Step, Ice Spinner, Counter, Hurricane
Orion's fourth Pokemon is a shy dancer who wishes to perfect her craft. Shard started as a very timid Quaxly who evolves over the span of the adventure. The dual type has gain more confidence upon becoming a Quaquaval but still hides behind Orion if spooked.
Noctis: Grimmsnarl
Type: Dark/Fairy Nature: Naughty Tera: Fairy
Ability: Pickpocket - Steals an item if physically attacked
Moves: Spirit Break, Play Rough, Drain Punch, Crunch
A loyal yet mischievous powerhouse that became Orion's fifth Pokemon. He started as a self destructive chaotic Morgrem who absolutely loathe the archivist until one fateful incident led to Noctis not only evolving into Grimmsnarl but try to better himself. The dual type still pull pranks, thankfully these aren't as dangerous like back then.
Vector Prime: Steelix *Can Mega Evolve
Type: Steel/Ground Nature: Gentle Tera: Steel
Ability: Sturdy - Cannot be knocked out with 1 hit KOs
Moves: Dragon Dance, Iron Tail, Psychic Fangs, Metal Burst
A mysterious Pokemon that can sense space-time anomalies serves as Orion's sixth Pokemon. Vector is a grandfatherly soul who tends to dote on everyone and provide comfort or wisdom if needed. His name stems from a triggered memory like Vos. Vector can mega evolve with the Steelixite Orion earned if need be.
Crimson: Koraidon
Type: Dragon/Fighting Nature: Hasty Tera: Dragon
Ability: Orichalcum Pulse -Turns the sunlight harsh when entering battle. The ancient energy thrumming through this Pokemon boosts it's Attack in harsh sunlight.
Moves: Collision Course, Iron Head, Dragon Claw, Shadow Claw
A hyperactive and affectionate Legendary that is Orion's emotional support Pokemon. He was entrusted to the archivist by Professor Sada as a Ride Pokemon, although she's unaware of him not being human. Crimson spends most his time munching on sandwiches and making others laugh than battling. Doesn't mean the Koraidon is unable to curb stomp those who wish to cause trouble.
I can't forget about Orion's human companion. Roc is a 23 year old trainer who tends to be quite carefree but also equally reckless. He aspires to be a Frontier Brain and run his own facility. To do so, he must compete in the Battle Frontier which will pit him against trainers who can match even Pokemon League champions in skill or strength.
Roc explores various regions to gain experience that could aid in his quest. He accidentally mistook Orion for a Pokemon on their first meeting and it took Blackbox stealing the man's Rotomphone to stop the fight from escalating. (There's a language barrier which can be resolved by the data inside the device.)
Roc is an enabler when it comes to Orion. From the limited info he got out of the bot's fragmented memory, the young man felt angry about how his new friend lived back on Cybertron. Something Roc decides to rectify by giving Orion a chance to experience life.
It does put a dent in his wallet but the price is worth it when the archivist gets to attend a carnival or read whatever book he wants. Orion tries to pay him back however Roc usually refuses. The time he doesn't is by asking to learn stuff from the bot in exchange.
Such things consist of reading/writing/understanding Cybertronian, history and other subjects on the planet that isn't functionalism. Roc's penmanship definitely approved upon trying to write Orion's language. He did roll his eyes when the bot mistook his handwriting for 'clocker' scratch. (Cybertronian Chicken)
I will be drawing Roc. For holoform design, either design my own or use the TFA version. Orion Pax is participating in all the events of the main Scarlet/Violet game and Teal Mask/Indigo Disk DLC alongside my OC except for the Pokemon League. Now this is the first half of my AU explanation.
The second will delve into the Transformers side and why it's called 'Herald of Ruin'. Do know that Orion Pax is gonna be quite different from his canon counterpart throughout this. I will drive a wedge between them and see how the character can molded.
That's all I got for now! Until next time folks, I'll see you back in Paldea. Now transform and roll out! Here's a Trainer Card that I made on Pokecharms.com for Orion Pax and Crimson(Koraidon).
