I've come to the realisation that I like meme primarchs.
In fact, I'd like to rephrase that. I don't like meme primarchs.
I love meme primarchs.
I love the infinite, overwhelming bitterness of Perturabo when one of his miniature clockwork Titans is moved ever so slightly out of place.
I love the total single-minded counterproductiveness of Konrad Curze breaking into someone's house to kill them as punishment for attempting suicide.
I love how Fulgrim, a paragon of intelligence and sophistication, fell to Chaos pretty much because a blatantly evil magic sword told him to.
I love the fact that Ferrus Manus, whose name means "Iron Hand," has metal hands and is primarch of the Iron Hands.

Ten Years of HTP: A Celebration
Hi all, I (@eatingcroutons) set up this blog with all sorts of intentions about preparation and promotion and then Life Things Happened, but I'm still hoping to go forward with the idea of encouraging some nostalgia and memory-sharing about the last ten years of the HYDRA Trash Party.
The aim here is to be more of a celebration of community rather than your typical prompt fest - if you're looking for prompts for fanworks you might want to check out the @catws-anniversary that has just kicked off and will run until the 4th of April, or of course refer back to the Trash Meme itself!
So for this blog's purposes, feel free to post informal thoughts and musings and ramblings, and to comment on each other's memories - this is all about our shared history and nostalgia, and the idea is for it to be an open dialogue and celebration of community. A few points on logistics:
Anonymous asks and submission are open on this blog if you'd prefer not to participate under a named account. We all know how hostile certain corners of fandom have become to darkfic and adjacent content.
For all the themes below self-recs are also very welcome, if you want a chance to show off something you made years ago that hasn't gotten much attention in a while!

April 4: Rewatch CA:TWS!
Take yourself right back to where it all began! With too many people across too many timezones we're not going to even try to organise a massive synchronised groupwatch, but maybe you could get a few of your old-school HTP buddies together to do a smaller one? In any case: fire up the movie, relive all the feels, and share any HTP-related thoughts that come (back) to mind after all these years!
April 5: Fanwork Recs
Go back and dig up some links to your favourite HTP fanworks - whether big or small, well-known or niche, what are the works that have really rewritten your brain chemistry, and stuck with you all this time? What was it about them that hit just the right spot? Feel free to share your thoughts on Tumblr - and to go back and drop a nostalgic comment on anything on AO3 😉
April 7: Meta Recs
Over the years there's been a lot of meta associated with HTP, from discussions of what CA:TWS and HYDRA represent in a broader social context, to endless back-and-forth about darkfic's place in fandom. Are there any posts that really made you think, or that remain relevant even now? Is there anything that came out of those meta discussions that has turned out to be particularly prescient, in hindsight?

to her design, a few small facts!
they are the iterator who's design has probably changed the least since i've first made one for them two years ago
her design is HEAVILY inspired by @/inkycorvid, especially the earrings!!! praised be the elder sage for big brain design thoughts
her current outfit is based off of the Rattanakosin dress of Thailand! (simplified to hell n back cuz gods i do have to limit myself Somehow with this kinda stuff else my hand goes caput 🙏. i still have yet to really get the outfit down properly tbh)
the city being half within them and their citizens genuinely loving them lead to Wind becoming SOMETHING of a teacher to the side of her main jobs as an Iterator. this is mostly the case because i sent this vid to shkika sayin "my Wind vibes" and she replied with

Wind LOVES their interjections. like every other sentence is gonna have an "oh!" "ah!" "hah!" or smth of the like in it. i didn't headcanon this on purpose she just started doing it herself in her dialogue so i guess that's her Thing now
their positive attitude towards everything ever and their love of kids brought them close to Nish. these two together in one room is like LED headlights on a car. they are so fucking bright you're gonna go blind within seconds
nobody knows how- least of all Suns- but Wind ended up growing very fond of and close to Suns. they converse theory and go through simulations together a lot, when Wind's communications aren't down because of the tornadoes. if this was one of those AUs where the iterators, as their puppets, just hang around, those two would be like constantly at each other's hip. often subconsciously. they are like that one fuckin char dynamic meme

Cassian/Bodhi for the horror meme!
I'm gonna use Rogue Street AU for this (unless stated otherwise) because then there's definitely horror movies in their everyday lives:
Which one is more fond of scary movies:
Cassian, because Bodhi is very sensitive and jumpy. Cassian kinda treats them like research, which is not a traditional definition of fond. Kay loves them, so it rubs off on Cassian.
Which one gets the most excited about Halloween:
Bodhi - Cassian knows too much about real monsters and Bodhi's a joiner.
Which one would be more likely to survive the apocalypse:
unfortunately I have to say Cassian. canonically neither, but still Cassian by a few minutes
Which one would literally kill for the other:
Cassian loves killing and he's great at it (in canon at least). Bodhi can in a pinch
Which one likes to scare or startle the other:
Bodhi, because scaring Bodhi would be TOO mean. Cassian leaves all the jumpscares to Kay and isn't particularly good at it himself.
Which one is more likely to need comforting when they get spooked:
Again, Bodhi, because above all things Bodhi needs a hug and a cup of tea. Cassian's bitey when he's scared.
Which one always puts on a brave face:
ooh this is tricky - while I do think Cassian often puts on faces to hide his real feelings, Bodhi's the one who puts on a brave face when he's terrified
Which one would be more dangerous if they suddenly became violent:
again, canon tells us this is very much a core Cassian trait. Bodhi is stronger than he looks, and he will fight when he needs to, but he's had less practice than Cassian (even in Rogue Street, I would assume)
Which one would be more likely to commit a crime:
Cassian. breaking and entering to explore haunted buildings, calls himself an electrician when he doesn't know shit fuck about keeping things up to code. and in canon, this man is a pile of crimes in a large jacket
Which one believes in ghosts:
ooh ok - Bodhi in canon, Cassian in Rogue Street. Both believe by the start of Rogue Street, but I don't think canon Cassian lets himself believe in ghosts.
Which one likes to watch spooky show on television:
Bodhi is easily spooked, but shows lure him in because he gets emotionally attached easily. Cassian doesn't get super invested in serial narratives. Again, in Rogue Street this is Kay's area.
Which one would propose the idea of holding a seance:
Rogue Street: Cassian, definitely. But he wouldn't do it without Bodhi to help.
Which one has nightmares more often:
lmao Bodhi in canon and Rogue Street. I think Bodhi's kind of in a waking nightmare for the entire of Rogue One. I can't remember if it's explicitly stated in Rogue Street, but Kay has been secretly blocking Cassian's nightmares whenever they're together.
Which one would want to explore a real haunted house:
Cassian's obsession with exploring haunted houses is the reason 1 Rogue Street happens!!! and to throw a bone to canon, well, he loves chasing lost causes

god this is so hard, im really bad at just rambling off the cuff. I MEAN IM NOT, i talk like i get paid for it, but im bad when prompted to. god. uhhh. i think its really interesting to explore how different people in the dndads fandom see like, the friendships between the kiddads? because i know that i have very particular ideas in mind (pre-canon, grant and nick were childhood friends, nick and terry jr were best friends, the twins didnt talk to people. post-s1, grant + sparrow besties, nicky + lark besties, and sparrow and lark war over terry jr because they both think he prefers them. terry refuses to let either win because he sees all of them as his best friends and gets stressed when pressured to choose), but everyone has really different opinions on how their dynamics would all work out! im particularly fond of people that are like "these guys are all just best friends" because honestly thats so real LOL
G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it
I DOOO, at least my first big one at least, lmao! it was spamano as in spain and romano from hetalia which is um. unfortunate for me. but they just captivated me. definitely why i'm so fond of sunshine/grumpy ships nowadays, i think a lot of it comes from like... i was depressed from a very young age and i felt like it made it really hard to deal with me? obviously, now im loveable and precious and chipper (picture me tossing my hair over my shoulder like a mean girl), but i had a hard time making friends as a kid/in high school. so ive always been attracted to ships where one person is seemingly really dislikable, but the other person still finds something desirable in them. also, i just really love relationships where the people in it fucking hate each other LMAO (which is ironic because i don't particularly like enemies to lovers... we all have layers i guess)

OH man I loved Pillars. 3, 4, and 8 for the deadfire meme! I'm curious to hear what Amali thought of her companions :D
3. How about a favourite companion? Or a favourite NPC?
Other than Tekēhu, who was her love interest...Amali got along very well with Aloth in Pillars I. The two hit it off very well, both of them having tremendous respect for each other's intelligence. Aloth admires Amali's blunt honesty and wishes he could be just as upfront as she is. They were a great support for each other during their lowest moments, and it is not an exaggeration that the two of them are best friends, and only friends. I knew from the off that that's all they would ever be.
As for favorite NPC...I'm not sure. She loved some of her more unusual crew members in Deadfire. Handsome Elias and Copperhead come to mind.
4. Was there a companion or an NPC that they just couldn’t stand? What was it about them that irritated your Watcher?
Other than Durance, who Amali stayed far away from whenever she could? She never got along with religious types of any sort, particularly not ones that had low opinions of women. Also, while she adored Eder in Pillars I and still does to an extent, his racial comments got a bit much in Pillars II.
Oh, there were so many people she absolutely couldn't stand in Pillars I, powerful assholes who used their authority to commit atrocities on the people they had power over: Raedric, Lord Harond, Caedman Azo, the nobleman in Defiance Bay who has a theatre troupe kill for sport, the gods. She is also not very fond of liars, which is highly ironic given her close friendship with Aloth. It takes a lot for Amali to dislike someone, but injustice, cruelty, and dishonesty are her biggest buttons.
8. Did your Watcher find romance, or close companionship, in the Deadfire? If so, who did they get close to, and how did that relationship develop?
Amali romanced Tekēhu. It was highly unexpected at first. Amali was a poor artist from Old Valia who changed her fortune after her adventures, and he was given every privilege growing up in the Deadfire. Tekēhu's art are works of passion and beauty. Amali's paintings and sketches are detail-oriented and focus on the dark and gritty. He was told that he was destined for greatness; she was told that she was worth nothing.
At first, Amali didn't think much of Tekēhu. Though she respects confidence, arrogance she can't really stand, and she had strong reservations about taking in him in her group. She didn't know how he would be able to handle himself in dangerous situations. Amali thought that she would take him on her missions through the Gullet and then replace him with Xoti once she was done with her missions. However, Tekēhu showed a surprising amount of compassion and maturity when faced with the ugly side of Neketaka. She held his hand and helped him through this, and a sort of bond formed ever since. It turns out that they are both passionate and forward-thinking people.
Amali's romance with Tekēhu was also very healing. Amali has a lot of self-esteem issues surrounding how she grew up as a death godlike in Old Valia. Tekēhu thinks that she is just larger than life, the most amazing person on Eora, and he tells her so every day. He is absolutely confident that she can be the sun that can outshine him, that he can be safe in her shadow, free from the cares and burdens placed on him.

This is probably random but can u tell us more abt Medjed
Not to worry; random questions are some of my favorites! For the sake of not missing something- and because I like having an excuse for longer replies- I'll answer in two parts; the real world, historic information on Medjed, and their incarnation in EoK.
As far as egyptologic knowledge goes, not much is understood about Medjed. We're not entirely sure what specific purpose or role they were meant to play, their connection to the greater pantheon, even definitively whether they were male or female, both or neither. All that is documented is their appearance and mention in the Book of the Dead and the Greenfield Papyrus (specifically appearing visually on sheets 12 and 76.) In Spell 17, they're described as such; "I know the name of that Smiter [Medjed translates to "the smiter"] among them, who belongs to the House of Osiris, who shoots with his eye, yet is unseen." Researchers have been able to discern that Medjed plays some role in the dead's journey through the Duat, but the specifics remain obscured and yet to be recovered. (I'm stubborn and refuse to say "discovered" with ancient cultures.)
In significantly more recent times- specifically 2012- Medjed was among those figures featured in an exhibit at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo. The deity's appearance, curiously reminiscent of the cliche Halloween sheet ghost as well as the character Obake no Q-Taro, captivated many that attended the exhibit, and by 2013 Medjed was enjoying a second life as a meme. They've been the subject of plenty fan art, appearing in videogames and manga/anime, and the mysteries surrounding them have been given "answers" of sorts in the way internet memes gradually develop their own lore regardless of source material (if any.)
(As a side note, I'm not 100% confident in this, but the way I've taken to pronouncing their name is like "medge-ed." The d and j noises are separate but still in the same syllable.)
For Echoes of Kemet, I've embraced much of the pop culture evolution of Medjed as there's so little on them to employ in my characterization.
Similar to the enigmatic Kherty, they're an example of the Duat's apparent mysterious quality of producing new entities and warping preexisting ones. Which of these Medjed is an instance of is unclear- whether they're a demon, Netjer, or something else- but they've made clear their willing allegiance with those in the Hall of Two Truths (despite being mute save for the odd noise.) They seem to be particularly fond of King Osiris and Prince Anubis, often competing with Ammit for their attentions- though they're also capable of getting along with the Devourer, sometimes sharing a feast of hearts with her.
Another role they've accepted is a watchman of sorts; possessing the ability to travel through walls and shadows- suggesting they may have some relation to the Khaibit (shadow) portion of the soul- they suddenly appear in front of anyone or thing not expressly invited or permitted entrance to Osiris' kingdom. They've gradually learned to adopt a different policy after a few unfortunate smitings, but they used to be inclined to incinerate trespassers with their other ability to shoot streams of fire from their eyes.
Many of the gods besides Anubis and Osiris- including Heqet, Wepwawet, Thoth, even the mighty Shezmu- find Medjed offputting. Many will vehemently deny being afraid of or creeped out by the deity, but they certainly possess a disquieting aura (despite their small stature and simple appearance) few are immune to.

Sexuality Headcanon: Who even knows. Does wind have sex? Does he still think about sex the way a wind spirit would? Did he just adopt his bard friend's sexuality as his own and move on? We just don't know.
Gender Headcanon: Pretty sure that if Venti ever thinks about gender it's only to think up ways he can make it as chaotic and unorthodox as possible, because Something Something Freedom, amirite?
A ship I have with said character: Venti/Xiao is pretty cute. Just the mental image of him going out of his way to play in a place where Xiao can hear it. For no reason other than to bring some peace to his soul ;o;
A BROTP I have with said character: [shrug] The previous image does work just as well as a brotp.
A NOTP I have with said character: [shrug]
A random headcanon: Not a headcanon exactly (I... don't have many headcanons for Venti) but I've always wondered just how much Venti knows about why Kaeya is in Mondstadt, where Kaeya is from, and/or anything about his family slash the group that sent him (if different from the Abyss Order).
General Opinion over said character: I'm gonna be honest, Venti is fine and all but I have always had basically zero interest in him as a character, oops.
Zhongli
Sexuality Headcanon: I am wide open. Willing to go with absolutely anything. Heck, maybe he's switched over the millenia.
Gender Headcanon: I tend to go along with the fanon that he's been other genders before and just goes with what he feels like when he mingles with the humans.
A ship I have with said character: I'm very fond of Zhongli/Childe, as I think most of my friends know. Zhongli/Venti can also be very fun. Haven't given a lot of thought to anything else.
A BROTP I have with said character: Zhongli and Childe is way up there as a brotp I love. I also vastly prefer Zhongli & Guizhong as a platonic lifepartner ruling pair rather than a couple.
A NOTP I have with said character: Again, don't think there's any particularly hated ones I've come across. Even Zhongli/Guizhong I don't hate, it's just not my preferred configuration.
A random headcanon: He's kept in contact with every (or almost every) generation of funeral directors in Hu Tao's family, and in the past (when humanity was less removed from the gods and the adepti by necessity) has even collaborated with some as either Rex Lapis or a powerful adeptus, and this is the source of some of their knowledge of the spiritual world.
General Opinion over said character: I like him. I don't spend a huge amount of time thinking about him, but when I do it's generally positive it's just not 'I will now spend a month fixating' kind of positive.
Ei
Sexuality Headcanon: Lesbian, probably. Sapphic definitely, given Miko.
Gender Headcanon: Funnily enough the only time I've really thought about gender-adjacent things with Ei was in an ABO au where Ei just does not realize that a large part of her discomfort in trying to model being the perfect omega leader in place of her sister, is that she isn't an omega. But she's spent so long first as her sister's double and then as her replacement, that that whole feeling is intricately woven up into all the other ways she differs from Makoto. Anyway idk exactly how I would translate that into a non-ABO verse, but I feel like I'd want to bring over at least some of it, just because it does open up fun new layers with makoto and also dissolving her body and making new ones and possibly even the way she treats those bodies afterward.
A ship I have with said character: I am fully in support of Ei/Miko, they deserve each other (said both affectionately and exasperatedly), and I tbh haven't thought that much about other ships, especially since I prefer Sara/Shogun over Sara/Ei.
A BROTP I have with said character: With Miko again, naturally, and I'm also very curious about her old party (and Chiyo).
A NOTP I have with said character: [shrug] Ei/Shogun maybe? But even then if you wrote it right (i.e. not ignoring their canon dynamic and power difference and agency issues) I might enjoy it.
A random headcanon: I wonder sometimes if she never really felt she was qualified to run Inazuma, and her clones were (partly, initially) an attempt to make someone better that she could pretend was Makoto having things under control as always. (But they were never close, because she didn't really understand why Makoto did things or what she wanted, and so how could she ever recreate something similar?)
General Opinion over said character: Pretty indifferent tbh. I haven't really been hooked by her character in general.
Nahida
Sexuality Headcanon: Man, she's a 500 year old kid whose entire knowledge of the world comes through people's dreams. She's either not thought about it at all before, or she's spent a lot of time watching people's wet dreams and documenting all the fascinatingly weird things humans dream up in them, and either way I have no idea how that translates into the first time she tries out something irl. Her previous self was probably bi tho.
Gender Headcanon: Radish.
A ship I have with said character: The goddess of flowers in her past life, definitely. Possibly a drama-filled ot3 with the two of them and Deshret. I haven't finished the archon quest yet but I'm shipping it even if it's jossed. In present-day idk.
A BROTP I have with said character: [shrug] Fandom's really running with Nahida and Scaramouche rn, but idk if I'm feeling the dynamic most people are going with. We'll see how it plays out.
A NOTP I have with said character: [shrug]
A random headcanon: The first chunk of questline we get regarding her had me thinking she was actually created by Rukkhadevata as part of the Akasha system, and I'm still very fond of that. It's been jossed of course and no longer works at all with Genshin's storyline but there are, I think, some very fun things you could do with the concept in, say, a sci fi au where the Akasha system is some kind of galaxy spanning AI network.
General Opinion over said character: There are parts of her I like and parts I'm indifferent to. I didn't end up liking her enough to pull in the end, so there's that. She does make an extremely cute radish.

💙 - Favourite IDW character?
IDW has a lot of characters I really like but I'm gonn have to go simple and say Tangle The Lemur. She's just so sweet. Like she's cheerful and energetic and she's lil bit impulsive and stupid but she's friends with some of the smartest characters so it's fine. Plus her dynamics with Whisper and Sonic are so good. Like her and Whisper are so cute together and they really balance each other out well, and her and Sonic are just two chaotic siblings with people like Lanolin trying and failing to keep them under control.
🧡 - Favourite Archie character?
Keep in mind, I've only read some parts of the Archie comics because they're all over the place and very confusing and there's some writers I'm not particularly fond of (you know). But again, I gotta go simple and maybe it's cause I caught the occasional rerun of the TV series growing up but Bunnie Rabbot. C'mon... A rabbit cyborg with super strength and a southern accent. How do you expect me to not love her? Plus she calls everyone 'sugar' and I really like that. Also her relationship with Antoine was really sweet as well. Their whole dynamic is honestly like that meme of 'me and the bad bitch I pulled by being autistic'

I'm guessing this is referring to the Fleetway comics??? I actually haven't read any of these which yeah, I know, ironic since they were the British comics but hey I never saw them growing up. But I've seen a lot of people talking about a character called Tekno and she seems pretty cool so I'll say her.
📺 - Favourite TV series?
Sonic X. Yes, this is completely nostalgia but hey it was a fun show. Probably also has something to do with the fact that it has more episodes than most of the other shows. But like, it was a good mix of action, game adaptations and just chill episodes. Some of my favourite episodes are the chill ones where they just goof around. Plus, I can't remember if this was true or not but I heard that the writer of the Metarex arc (aka the arc that broke child me) went on to write the story for Unleashed. Which, if true, is awesome because those are two of my favourite storylines in the series.

favorite thing about them: Kaeya's just so damn cool, genuinely the most interesting Mondstadt character with a ton of foreshadowing set up for his relevance and even that isn't as important as just how complex but likeable he is? Everything from how everyone knows Kaeya's smiles are fake (even to kids!) to the fact that he's so competent despite being a cavalry captain with no cavalry... we stan a babygirl who can get the upper hand on just about anyone. I love that he's kind of an asshole in Venti's story quest to Diluc, LMAO it just shows a side of him we don't often see.
least favorite thing about them: I agree w/u Kaeya could turn out to be the Tsaritsa and want world domination or something and I'd be like yes sweetie you're doing great
favorite line: god I'm bad with quotes but I'm fond of "Khaenri'ah, huh? You sure know a lot! The legacy of Khaenri'ah is long gone, the sinners are all that's left, and they're not worth mentioning." from his voiceover quotes. go girl give us nothing
brOTP: favonius crew!
OTP: Chaeya obviously, they were my first Genshin ship thanks to a friend posting about them often enough for me to get curious and now I feel like these two characters are Made for each other and that they're def gonna meet in canon. And if I'm wrong, I will be so sad :') BUT THAT'S OKAY they don't need to meet in canon for them to be perfect.
nOTP: I could just take the easy route and say k*luc but honestly I hate every other ship involving Kaeya because I have ship blinders on for every ship I'm really invested in. I Do Not Perceive them with other characters.
random headcanon: Kaeya can't cook and from the fact that he grew up with a rather privileged life, I like to think he'd learn a lot from Childe about how to take care of himself. Also that Kaeya sneaks Childe into the Favonius Headquarters barracks from time to time...
unpopular opinion: hmm. I feel like people dismiss Kaeya as a jerk at times but forgive other characters for being jerks in the exact same way/dismiss him as an irrelevant starter character. Like there is no other character in Genshin, to me, that has as many secrets as him. I think it's premature to write him off in any capacity!!

Riley lives in one of the apartments across the hall from Nat and she's a fellow vamp, and was turned about six years ago :3 she was turned voluntarily but I haven't pinned down exactly why yet, though I have my suspicions...... she regrets it, but tries not to dwell on it too much
she's the first friend Nat makes without Quinn's help! for her first appearance in the story, she senses the presence of A Vampire in Nat's apartment and knows Nat is a weird paranoid hermit who, to her knowledge, has never had a single person over to his apartment in the three years he's lived there....... so naturally she assumes some vampire has gotten inside somehow and is going to eat her weird neighbour lmao
she very anxiously attempts to break in and save him, and they have an extremely awkward spiderman meme moment at the door where she's like "are you ok do you need help??????" and he's like "dude what?? I was just taking a nap??? I'm fine???" then they both have the Oh I'm Staring At Another Vampire realisation at the same time
anyway, ye, Riley is very cool....... a popular gal who makes a good first impression.... polite and friendly but with a big ol' mischievous streak....
she loves bright colours and clashing patterns and zany makeup, her fashion tends to be very eccentric and bold and she gets a lot of compliments on it, that and her signature multicoloured hair, which changes frequently c:
she loves dramatic soap operas and old horror movies. she's a bit of a vampire film buff and has a running ranked list of which are the most accurate. she personally has a fondness for the really horrible monstrous scary vamp films, in a sort of jokingly self-deprecating "haha look it's me!" sort of way :c
she doesn't have a fatal sunlight allergy the same way Alex does, but still gets nasty burns and blisters pretty quick so she's mostly nocturnal too. she works as a tour guide for haunted locations and does ghost tours, basically! she also often writes about ghosts and the paranormal for little magazines or online journals.... she and Shara from ATDAO would get along so well. ghost time!
she's great with kids because she's basically a big chaotic kid herself, and great with adults because she's good at pretending she's not just a big chaotic kid xD she's bubbly and mischievous and loves a bit of good-natured chaos. she's a prankster and often takes Nat for a bit of a ride, seeing what ways she can mess with him or what silly things she can make him believe...... mostly because he's a very very very new vampire and doesn't know left from right yet lmao. but it's all in good fun :3 she's a big sweetheart and loves to fuss over her friends (of which she has a LOT)
in terms of vampiric activity, she just hangs out at shady bars and eats creeps. extremely valid. bigoted dirtbags talking a little too loudly, people slipping things in other people's drinks, dudes who get too handsy without consent or follow people home. eat more creeps 2k22. she's not always particularly subtle and quite a few humans who are familiar with her turn a blind eye when some unpleasant bastard mysteriously goes missing lmao
she knows about Quinn's reputation and has made a point to stay as far away from them as possible, n she's extremely worried about Nat being involved with them....... she doesn't want him to be taken advantage of :< she's quite terrified of Quinn and wants him to be safe! she's part of the reason Nat stops letting Quinn push him around so much, her care and encouragement definitely have a big impact on him
though Riley has a very bubbly and cheery personality, she's super fuckin depressed and extremely high anxiety all day every day. she was already an anxious human and vampirism aka "If You Didn't Have An Anxiety Disorder Before, You Do Now!" disease of course exacerbated this...... she's less prone to paranoia than most other vampires, though, probably due to her open and trusting temperament as a human
mmmm one final fun fact about Riley is that...... I always imagine she and Yvonne would get along SO well! I think Yvonne would be fascinated by Riley tbh, for...... reasons :3 well, for reasons thematically related to Yvonne's character arc, but that I won't go into here because they're still simmering in my brain and not ready to be rambled about yet!
so in my head, although Yvonne and Riley don't actually have much of a chance to get to know each other, I always think under different circumstances they could have been very good friends..... we can throw Zeke into the mix for some fun too :D
in terms of shipping with the rental car gang I'm always just like "idk just do whatever!" and Riley/Yvonne is such a good one..... have considered writing aus where [REDACTED] doesn't happen and the two get a chance to become close..... Riley/Yvonne/Zeke love triangle also has fun potential hahaha

14. How long does it usually take you to make a set
for real, while technically i can make a gifset within a day or a few, i have a nasty tendency to procrastinate everything, literally everything, even stuff i actually enjoy. and when i do get around to actually making sth i overthink it. sometimes for months. yup. lbr overthinking (alongside chronic lack of spoons) is the main reason i create stuff so rarely and post it even rarer even if i have it finished for a while. i'm trying to improve, okay..? just gonna kick myself more often into calling things finished and posting them, i literally have dozens of gifset ideas waiting to be executed, several art wips (as well as finished pieces), two videoedit ideas, and quite a few k words of both fic and meta… the tricky part is just to get around to all of it
16. How long have you been making gifs
oof lemme see… in June 2020 i made my first gifs that weren't completely horrible cuz before that i was using merely a phone app for this with video editing software (this and this were made this way). and then in February 2021 i finally figured out what was missing from my PS and preventing me from editing gifs there and fixed it. so yeah, i've been relatively new to this, i guess..? though ngl the experience of very spontaneously making two videoedits before trying out proper gifing was a nice starting point
34. A set that took you a long time/was really hard but you’re really proud of how it came out
hm the stardust one is the first that came to mind even though it's more the case of "it didn't receive as much attention as most my other cql gifsets but i'm still quite fond of it" rather than it being particularly time/effort-consuming. not to mention that i'm hardly ever actually proud of anything i create but well, that's just my brain cockroaches messing stuff up. back on track, the WWX gifs in the trust parallel set were a pain to edit but eventually i ended up learning new tricks while groping my way around it so i'm not complaining
okay, if i were really to pick a gifset i'm proud of that'd be the ripples one, no doubts (gonna add the link once i actually finish and post it, i promise). it's the most advanced technically (don't even ask me how long i've been nitpicking it from all directions and how i'm still tempted to drop the current version in favor of approaching it from a whole new direction bc surely it can be done way way better if i just go nitpick it some more! ya know, the usual overthinking) and it's sth very personal to me thematically. the underlying meaning of it is too closely related to liminal spaces (or more like what i simplify as "liminal spaces" as i suspect my own understanding of this concept in general can differ quite a bit from that of other people) so putting it into actual words gets tricky. but this kinda comes with the territory so nothing unusual
48. How would you describe your giffing style
ugh honestly idek if i have one..? for real, i don't think there's anything about my gifs that makes them stand out much. at least there surely isn't anything that i deliberately make sure to integrate every single time (maybe i do unconsciously though, who knows). so i feel like it's more for others to judge ¯_(ツ)_/¯
what i can say is that when i do make gifsets i apparently tend to illustrate some narrative parallels or sth with them..? or just combine scenes with a quote that strikes me with fitting vibes. or both. also i like to have fun with the colors and lighting and use adjustment layers quite heavily (but gotta admit it's hardly an option to halfass this if i wanna my Yi City gifs to look vibrant and alive enough). i suppose alternative subtitles to all my cql sets are a feature of my so called style as well since i always translate them myself instead of going the easy way and copying any of the already existing ones. which is also fun! even if, well, adds to the amount of time and spoons i put into it but what can i say, it's a matter of habit by now

I was gonna make a quip of "Only seven people, you didn't even get one from each fear?" but apparently they lost a bunch of people and that is very sad actually.
The implication that the tape recorders seem to like Martin is interesting. It reminds me of Jon saying that the Eye is fond of him a few episodes back. I can't help but wonder if that's because the Eye finds him particularly interesting or capable or if it more because Jon loves him and thus the Eye kind of loves him too?
I'm not sure why but the concept of something eldritch and vastly beyond human comprehension being fascinated and possibly in love with a human is actually kind of scary to me in a way. Like, I made a post forever ago about fan translation of Uzumaki, where the characters said something to the effect of "It's like the Spiral is in love with you." and that had fundamentally changed the story and it perspective for me at the time. Because something that thrives on fear and chaos simply can not express love in a way that's human or even really safe to interact with. Case in point, Jon is one of the Eye's favorite humans and look at everything it's put him through so far.
This is all to say, if that is the direction that the story is going and the Eye is actually in love with Martin to come extent then all I can really think is "Oh god no."

7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
I was just thinking about this recently and it's not actually for a fic, but I have a fantasy uhh universe, whatever, that I came up with when I was like 15 where magic was split into two types: Earth and Space, which basically means aliens are real and they're werewolves. Among other things. I then proceeded to never elaborate on this within the actual story that I wrote. I probably made my magic system way too complicated with that but fuck it it's still fun
23. What’s a trope, AU, or concept you’ve never written, but would like to?
Oooh hm.... fun fact I'm actually really fond of magical girl AUs but only, specifically, when they're still set in canon. Character is already a magical girl but now they need to deal with this other shit as well. First Impressions:
grandma!! sweet old lady!!! our introduction to nona is SO endearing and Raz is so sweet to her. he clearly loves her and so it also primes us, the audience, to be really fond of her from the first encounter
Impressions Now:
Lucrecia is a really good character. she's got such a rich and storied life, and we've still only seen half of it! what happened to her first husband? what did she do before coming to join the psychic 7? she's just so interesting and she's got so much depth to her. obviously she's a really tragic character, but she's also wise and sassy and so interesting in ways that female characters, especially older female characters, are rarely allowed to be. Lucy is so great and so refreshing. she's a funny old lady, a loving grandmother, a sassy and confident woman, a terrifying villain who killed hundreds of people in cold blood. she has the range
Favourite Moment:
this one's stretching it a little bit, but I'd probably have to say the archetype we meet of Lucrecia in Cassie's mind. it's obviously kind of a caricature of how Lucrecia actually was during her time in the psychic 7, but it was still the moment that made me go -- oh, wait, you're a person with depths and layers to you that we've barely even glimpsed. it's kind of melancholy, because that's the closest Raz (and the audience) ever gets to seeing how Lucy used to be -- before the deluge, before everything. there's so much to Lucy, such a fascinating and wonderful and warm person that used to be there, and all we ever get to see of her are other peoples' memories and old photographs. that was the moment that really sold me on her, and it also encapsulates a lot of the melancholy attached to her character.
Idea for a Story:
I don't have specific ideas but god I'm always so hungry for content of Lucy during her time with the psychic 7. the early days when it was just her and Ford and Otto, or bonding with the rest of the group (because she clearly meant so much to all of them) -- i crave it. i need it. give me the old person hippie commune stories
Unpopular Opinion:
i have two! time for a little controversy. the first is that the Nona=Lucrecia=Maligula twist is super obvious (especially if you've played the first game because certain things really stick out). this is fwiw not a bad thing, and I think it pairs well with how the Nick Johnsmith twist comes completely out of left field, but from quite early on in the game it's like, ok, i see where this is going.
for the second, i don't know if this is actually particularly unpopular but I think talking about other characters "going Maligula" kind of undercuts how much Maligula was, like, a perfect storm of tragic events that happened to Lucrecia, specifically? LIKE don't get me wrong it's a ton of fun to "what if" characters turning evil, i TOTALLY get that. but Maligula wasn't just one bad day, it was the culmination of years of manipulation and exploitation coupled with the tragedy of the time the psychic 7 spent exploring their minds without oversight or the knowledge of what could happen leaving Lucy vulnerable. Maligula is so much more than Lucy just turning evil, it was the love she felt for her people and her country being twisted and exploited, it was a woman being forced to do more and more horrible things until she broke. it's such an interesting and compelling and human tragedy, and it's really easy to undermine the sheer weight of all of that by just reducing it to "what if X character went evil". I DUNNO is that mean-spirited of me? i just really love tragedy and, like, Maligula is SUCH a good tragedy, i think she should be appreciated a little more
Favourite Relationship:
I really really love Lucy/Ford. they have such a compelling dynamic, and the love that was there directly catalysed the events of the second game. it's so good and so bittersweet, and also I just really love how shamelessly flirty Lucy is in the game! get it grandma!
Favourite Headcanon:
I have a lot but I really like thinking about Lucy's life, especially pre-psychic 7. like, this is a woman with stories. she's wanted in 4 countries and infamous in 7 more. she knows how to do Stuff with hydrokinesis that you've never even thought of. she is so interesting and i love thinking about her adventures.
Ford
First Impressions:
I remember being honestly pretty spooked by Ford! when you first meet him he's in this kind of incongruous dream sequence slash camera control tutorial (lol), and you start with this closeup on his weird old man face in a way that frames him as kind of sinister! what are you doing in my dream sequence, grandpa???
Impressions Now:
Ford. the saddest old man in the world. my beloved peepaw who has made so so many mistakes. he's such a tragic figure in such a good, compelling way! he had so much love and it made him so shortsighted! he destroyed himself and almost destroyed the Aquato family along the way because it was what he thought he needed to do to protect the one he loved. he has so far to fall in Raz's eyes, and I love how over the course of the second game we slowly see these layers of Ford (the wise mentor, the psychonaut, the living legend) get stripped apart until what you're left with is a sad, flawed, broken old man. it's so good
Favourite Moment:
it's gotta be the conversation Raz and Ford have if you ask about the eagle wrestler where they discuss the semantics of hyphenated words. it's just so perfect and so silly and I love how it encapsulates their dynamic. If you've never seen it (and it's very easy to miss!) please watch the linked clip, I promise it's so good.
Idea for a Story:
I would love to see Ford and Augustus sit down together and really hash things out after the events of the second game. one of the things I love about the games is their theme of growth, and how even though you can't undo your mistakes, you can move past them if you're willing to reach out and try and reconnect. there's a lot of hurt there, and I think it'd be cathartic for both of them honestly
Unpopular Opinion:
Ford is a better mentor figure to Raz than Sasha. there, I said it. listen I love the Raz&Sasha dynamic but I think it's mixed up in a lot of hero worship from Raz's side and projection (and also general 'not great with kids'-ness) from Sasha's side. whereas I think Raz&Ford have a much more genuine connection, Ford recognises Raz's spirit and talent but also his need for guidance and mentorship and meets him exactly where he is, and Raz very quickly gloms onto Ford as a weird surrogate grandparent-type figure.
Favourite Relationship:
I know I've already said Lucy/Ford but come on. Lucy/Ford. old people in love just gets me. if I had to pick another one I'd say Ford and Otto because I just love the 'snarky old man besties' thing they have going on, but like I mentioned above Ford and Raz is also extremely good
Favourite Headcanon:

favorite thing about them
She’s one of my favourite trope, the bruiser with a soft, squishy centre. Those characters are usually guys, so it’s fun to see a genderswapped version of it!
least favorite thing about them
I don’t particularly dislike any part of her character, but I think she’s too quick to accept others’ bullshit in the beginning of the game (for example, her brother, who is Jarl of her clan, is actually a pretty bad leader, but she never quite challenges his authority at first, because she’s blinded by loyalty. It’s an interesting flaw, I think.)
favorite line
“Is that a bread knife, lord? Do you mean to butter me?” It’s the deadpan delivery that sells it, I think.
brOTP
Her relationships with the Sweet Boys Squad (Ceolbert, Oswald and Hunwald) are just plain adorable (they're like the Hobbits to her Boromir/Aragorn). I especially like her friendship with Oswald since he’s about the only Saxon ally she has who challenges her on the choices she makes. They don’t always see eye to eye, but they respect and support each other, and in the end, she learns from him as much as he learns from her.
OTP
Randvi, of course. There’s something sweet about a story of two women who put aside their feelings for duty and for the sake of a man who treats them both like crap (even though he should be cherishing them) only to become the benevolent rulers of a thriving community through hard work and a genuine love for their people.
I'm also fond of her with Vili, since they have a pretty good rapport.
nOTP
Ivarr, ugh… he’s an unrepentant murderer and, well… anyone who played the game knows why I feel like punching the screen every time I see his smug face.
random headcanon
Eivor has trouble with emotional intimacy. It’s why most of her romance options are of the ‘love-‘em-and-leave-‘em’ variety (even when she cares about them, like with Vili) and why she’s so shocked when people show her physical affection (like when Hunwald glomps her).

A lot of the fandom is thirsty for her, but, uh, I just think she’s neat lol. Good for all who have a crush on her, though!
