I really really like hyuck like his personality is super similar to mine, and I absolutely adore seeing him on variety shows and he’s so talented like !!!!! pretty much never, i guess. i had crushes on girls since kindergarten, then in 2nd grade i was told girls could only like boys, so i tried my best to be straight even though in my heart i knew i wasn’t. since i couldn’t make myself like boys, i kinda just ignored the idea of liking anyone at all until middle school, when i found out what the word “lesbian” means online. of course, all the stuff i found about lesbians called us disgusting perverts, so i went through many phases of calling myself literally anything else but a lesbian. i’ve only started using the word lesbian specifically in the last few years, especially since i joined an amazing discord group. i love them so much, they’ve helped me feel so proud of being a lesbian <3

Anyway Ton is like. Described as DENSE and he truly is thick as a brick. He lives with two other best friends who are gay and in love and very actively flirting, and they keep it secret in the most pathetic dumb ways imaginable, and Ton just goes with it cause he’s actually dumber Than them somehow... and they’re all complete himbos so. It’s quite the feat to be even more oblivious and dense than Ai and Ni. Tons like the one oblivious bi himbo in a house of gay himbos and a best friend mutually in love but he’s got some dad issues and understandably has never examined his love for Chon too deeply probably to avoid said dad issues. Since a majority of his acceptance issues just seem to be his dads words parroted, and he’s cool abandoning them to keep loving his friends completely as ppl, so mostly now it’s probs just an internal thing making him feel bad. Which incidentally... mm his dad needs to let it goooo. Those same words make Ton think he should put up with cruel women like Amp in his life, when it’s clear he is enjoying not being in a toxic relationship for once. And amp really. Really is toxic. I’d say only 2 things really pissed me off so far? And like I can handle it cause I’ve seen worse in some Thai shows but just. It’s annoying it’s scenarios common at all I suppose. One is Gunsmile, I’m sorry you gotta play a villain in this even tho they literally reference sotus clips and in sotus you were one of my FAVORITE characters for how you actually Weren’t cruel but very caring. Whereas in this Neung and Amp are truly dangerous, maliciously intended people. Both of them think assault is ok, it’s implied BY them that assault is an issue on campus from seniors Period too (which I hate that it’s implied so casually, even tho I know in a tonnnn of American collehe movies it’s also implied and I know my own fucking university had an awful assault prevalence and just like god please practice safety precautions when you go out to bars or god fucking frats period). Like I’m not surprised it’s implied their college is just as bad, it just makes me annoyed the consequences aren’t more severe. Neung should be charged, him and Amp should be expelled for being a threat to other students. Amp in particular is malicious constantly and I feel like the show paints her as a mad ex but doesn’t really highlight her as quite as full on dangerous as she actually is. She actually wanted to harm Chon and probably Pang. She would harm Ton, and it’s no wonder after she cheated and they broke up Ton decided to literally go no contact and his friends bar Amp from even getting near him. In general I’d well like all these toxic parties in power as upperclassmen to get recprecussions, even tho I know In real universities it unfortunately Is often this fucked up i would Love harsher consequences since this is fiction. And then second on this is Chon not apologizing for kissing Ton Clearly. He apologized when he did it, but the moment was tense then they both left. Then the next scenes implied both chon being sad AND aware he shouldn’t have kissed his friend like that, and his mom even affirmed he should prioritize apologizing - not for loving his friend, since confessing that is not bad, but for kissing him without asking. And considering how Ton reacted, I agree another clearer apology would be nice. And it just annoys me that when they do finally talk calm, the scene skips any apology chon may have made or words they both said about what happened and skips to the “we’ve reconciled and want to hang out and live together again.” So like. It implied Ton forgives him and is fine now that he’s processed things. Which is good, since I’d be madder if Ton felt uncomfortable. But I’m still annoyed the writing setup that it knew Chon kissing him asleep was wrong, and that he should apologize and HE knew it and expressed he wanted to, and then didn’t give me the actual scene. Even if it wasn’t a big deal to Ton, it was in the initial moment and the shows writing knew it enough to say it so I’d have preferred a real scene about it being resolved.
Tho as things go. I think 2gether wasn’t much better. Fairly sure Sarawat kissed Tine without permission drunk, no one apologized. But since this particular show actually addressed that it was aware the action was rude, I was hoping it would complete that consideration and show an apology on screen too. Also idk but similar threats of violence not played as super big? Like Amp and Neung, I think also happened in 2gether. So I suppose this is not particularly surprising. I guess just, because sometimes the writing does address some things (like it’s done very well depicting intolerance due to upbringing/family pressure versus actually addressing it in urself and improving - Ton feels much more relatable to teen me when I was biphobic to myself from authority figures pressures and assumptions I had, yet when I met other queer people I got much better perspective fast even if I didn’t realize I was also queer right away - which I have liked muchhhh better than a lot of “I’m straight except for u” hand waves in some bl, Tons story is written with some intolerance that actually feels characyer driven and is improved with growth, whereas in a decent number of others it’s just there to act Manly and then never grown or improved... another arc similar to this I DID like was Mork in Dark Blue Kiss because he had some society learned desire to not relate to liking men personally but once he understood himself it wasn’t an internal issue for him and he moved onto only dealing with it his relationship was being healthy and fair to him, much more relatable again to a pretty regular experience compared to some I’ve seen). Anyway my point is just. There’s some actual well written things in this show and I think that’s part of why the weaker parts piss me off more - cause I’d expect more weight in my ideal story to calling them out.
Like... to me theory of love did the Best at putting real weight into how fucked up toxic friendships are, and the scene where one kisses the other knowing it’s unwanted is so fucked up but like. It is written and shot to make ur gut twist and angry, to make you realize it’s fucked up and wrong and NOT romantic. It’s not even “no big deal” or “what always happens” (which I’d say is how Amp and Neung feel portrayed, or usually when it happens in American college story settings in shows/movies even). But in theory of love, it’s made abundantly clear why it’s fucked up. And it is one of many intensely harsh scenes emotionally to get to you HATE the people doing it, for doing it, for thinking it’s ok, and for the characters themselves to hate that they did. Theory of love is angst and pain and not even healthy or optimistic till the last 3rd and that is the Point. So it can afford to show these scenes where a character knows they’ve fucked up and is torn to shit over it, where the other is so sad their friend would do it and so in love they just go with it instead of ending the kiss. And it ends up vaguely mutual but still clearly not what should’ve been done, both of them well aware how toxic how they are with each other is and motivated to get thefuck away from their own destructive behavior to themselves and their friend. Like... theory of love isn’t a light fluff comedy like why r u or 2gether or tonhon chonlatee. It was willing to paint bad shit and it’s consequences in full, which hey different approaches for different things. But it also means when stuff like a kiss happens in a show like THIS, it might be momentary drama but the story implies overall both characters were happy and wanted it and just it was an awkward time (similar to 2gethers handling). Which is fine I just.. with the self awareness this show had for a moment, I was hoping it could be both this outcome AND address an apology still just to add to their good friendship. (Tho I guess to be fair to Ton and Chon... their flirty friendship is EONS from Third/Khai. Chon didn’t expect a relationship, confessed he liked Ton and just wanted to stay friends, Ton was shocked his friend was gay but ultimately wants his friend back, chon is ok being treated romancitwlly still - tho his roommates are right he should keep boundaries for a while for now - and Ton is ok giving Chon either a friendship like before or with more boundaries. Their only iffy part is the grey area of tjem not sure if Ton likes him back, and Chon not sure how long he’d be ok with the flirting before either needing a relationship or a harsher boundary of “let’s just be friends so I can get over you.” Ton this whole time HAS been a supportive friend, attentive, kind, and the actual friendship has been pretty mutual in terms of how much they care about and respect each other. Whereas third and khai... Khai was using the fuck out of third, giving him very little care, and before ANY of thirds crush factors in, that base friendship was toxic as all fucking hell. Also even not knowing his feelings fully, Ton is much more respectful to Chon than Khai was when he found out about thirds crush. And chon having a crush, was more accepting that he needed to move on if Ton didn’t like him or tell him, and since Ton never treated him badly chon didn’t have to expect any behavior changes - his feelings only affected him. Whereas third had a Bunch of expectations Khai might be nicer/more respectful and equal to him if Khai knew he liked him. And third wasn’t very prepared to move on if Khai didn’t like him/didn’t treat him better. So ton and chon just in general started with a much healthier base friendship, so their crushes and figuring things out is in a much lower pressure environment since the only obstacle is them really understanding themselves and what they want. Whereas third and Khai EVENTUALYL had those obstacles, but the big ones were about their toxic friendship and it needing to BREAK and be rebuilt healthier before a crush even factors into their situations..)

In the picture, Marvin is like brushing an eyelash off of Whizzer’s cheek or holding his hand or doing something really sappy (basically trying to communicate to an emotionally-stunted Whizzer that hey sleeping together is cool and all, but I want to actually date you, you know). Well, the news BLOWS UP with headlines like ‘Whizzer Brown’s Mystery Man’ and ‘Playboy baseball player settling down?’ and everyone scrambles to find out just who Marvin is. Once they find out that Marvin is a divorced dad, news outlets like TMZ are flooded with headlines like (thanks to @a-lesbian-from-next-door-too for this GEM of a headline) WHIZZER BROWN WITH DILF???

All production in the tabloid industries stops as editors bark for their reporters to dig up more on this story. Journalists scramble for any bit of info they can get on Marvin.
And here comes disastrously incorrect articles like:
Marvin was actually still married when he and Whizzer started “dating.” Whizzer was the cause of his divorce.
Marvin is like 15 years older than Whizzer and is basically using Whizzer for his money.
Marvin has been Whizzer’s secret boyfriend (HUSBAND???) for over ten years now and it’s been kept well hushed hushed secret bc Whizzer has built a brand out of Gay Baseball Player/Playboy.
Jason is Marvin and Whizzer’s adopted child.
CONSPIRACY THEORY: Marvin and Whizzer are not actually together at all. Marvin is not even gay! Whizzer just wanted to rebrand himself from “player on and off the field” and so hired Marvin to be his fake boyfriend (pretending to be “settling down”). (this prompts a startled Marvin to exclaim, “How could anyone think I was straight???” to which Whizzer dead-panned responded, “Honey, no self-respecting gay man dresses like that.”

Marvin finds out about the news bc he goes to work the next morning and some asshole coworker has taped all the headlines around his desk (the DILF headline is blown up and taped over his entire desk).
Marvin is obv pissed and lowkey anxious bc he doesn’t want this sort of attention to negatively affect him or (GOD FORBID) Jason. Whizzer himself is just a little annoyed and sees that Marvin is upset, so he tries to like make the issue go away by tweeting out: “tfw ur out with one of ur booty calls and ppl think that just bc he held ur hand u two are getting married’. And uhh, this makes the media die down but Marvin gets more upset bc hey asshole I think I’m falling in love with you but apparently I’m still just one of your booty calls, huh? And Whizzer gets mad bc Marvin is mad and he just tried to make Marvin less mad, and angst angst angst.
When they do get together, Whizzer posts a picture on Instagram of the two of them with the caption 'tfw you fall in love with one of your booty calls’. And the Internet just kinda explodes.
Fans are a little mixed. On one hand, they’re happy that Whizzer seems to be happy. On another, they’re terrified that a relationship will somehow hurt Whizzer’s playing. They then shut the fuck up when Whizzer plays the most vicious game of his entire career and just throws the best pitches and just basically almost single-handedly eviscerates the other team. At the press conference, people ask what’s up with Whizzer’s playing, and one of Whizzer’s team members just sorta smirks and answers for him, “He has a lot of pent up tension and aggression. He hasn’t seen his boyfriend in like a month [bc it’s the peak of the season and they’ve had to move around a lot to different cities and such]."
Guys guys guys guys, I cannot begin to describe just how i c o n i c Marvin becomes so quickly.
Because once they’re like “official,” Whizzer spams his instagram account with Marvin - Marvin in a new gifted Red Sox jersey while Jason (in his decked out Yankees uniform) glares mockingly at him; at the park during a crisp fall afternoon, Marvin breathless and red-faced and caught mid-laugh; Marvin comically but dead-seriously holding a baseball bat with a stance and grip that makes Whizzer and all baseball fans around the world weep; Marvin Jason and Whizzer, in a cheesy selfie after a really tough game; a picture of Marvin’s back as the man is hunched over an oven (this one has the caption “I love when a man puts the steak in ;) ” ); a particularly artsy one with a black and white filter, with Marvin (asleep, hair mussed, naked but only his bare arms, shoulders, and upper back is not obscured by the white sheets) asleep in their bed. The fans lose their minds over these pictures, along with the little tibits of info/stories that Whizzer shares when prompted about what a dorky/lame/baseball-hating/he-writes-me-poetry-literally-what-a-fucking-nerd that his new boyfriend is.
When tweets and questions about Marvin keep buzzing Whizzer, Whizzer kindly asks (not forces, Jeez, Marv, don’t make it sound like I held a gun to your back) that Marvin get his own instagram/twitter accounts so they can just fawn over Marvin directly and leave Whizzer the hell alone to answer questions about baseball and photography and not about his relationship every fucking five minutes
This turns out to be a mistake. Marvin amasses ten thousand followers in six months. The guy barely even posts about Whizzer himself. He posts about broadway reviews and retweets funny cat pictures and every once in awhile, he posts partiuclarly needling things like how chess is better than baseball and he tags and @’s Whizzer in all of them. And everyone??? Loves it??? Whizzer is a little jealous at how people fawn over Marvin?? Like where’s some Whizzer love??? Whizzer is still the twunk that everyone loves, right???
Marvin is slowly accepted by the baseball wives. They’re catty and cliquish and they make Marvin’s life a living hell those first few months, but when Marvin does not take their shit and keeps pushing back, they grow to a mutual understanding that soon turns into begrudged respect that eventually turns into tentative friendship that eventually much much later turns into “if you dare utter one mean word or look at Marvin the wrong way, I will slit your throat with my sharpened, manicured, pastel pink-painted nails.” Whizzer shares one picture on his insta of Marvin with the baseball wives, with a glass of champagne in his hand and looking like he’s talking shit and the other baseball wives are laughing and eating this shit up, and he captions it: I think my boyfriend joined a cult.
The media as a whole leaves the two alone after they turn out to be just a regular couple and not that interesting?? EXCEPT EXCEPT EXCEPT (see next bullet point)
Okay, so Marvin hates baseball, right? This is established. This is well known. This is Fact. Well, after they become like “official” and the media now knows who Marvin is, news outlets start to attack him/make fun of him/crucify him for looking bored at Whizzer’s baseball games. Like he’ll have his phone out or he’ll have his chin propped up with his hand as if trying to combat sleepiness and sometimes he brings like a magazine to read and he always has that bored, vaguely pained “I do not want to be here right now” look on his face. And any time that the Red Sox makes a good play or gets a homerun, it’s clear that he’s been spacing out bc whenever the people around him start cheering, he likes jumps and does that weak, wide-eyed “Idk what just happened and i kinda want death right now but I am being supportive” clap (one time, he zoned out and Whizzer’s opposing team got a homerun, and Marvin just started meekly clapping bc he heard the crowd doing it and ESPN and TMZ and all the news outlets had a field day of making fun of him).
And the media??? is like “why are you not supporting your partner? You embarrass him by looking so bored. Can’t you learn to love the sport if you love him??” and being really bitchy about it. And Whizzer gets pissed and so goes on air during a press conference - when some smart-ass reporter tries to make a barb about Marvin looking bored and in pain - and says really bitchily, “Guys, Marvin just doesn’t like baseball, okay? Yeah, that makes him an idiot - because baseball is incredible - but it doesn’t make him a bad partner. I don’t expect him to love the things that I love. I like that we’re different, you know? That makes him less boring. Like, he goes to my games even though he hates baseball. That is being supportive. Like fucking hell, guys, I’m with him because he makes me laugh and has a great ass - not because he’s some super baseball fan.” CUE MIC DROP.
And yeah, there are homophobic reactions to the relationship. Facebook groups dedicated to it. Marvin gets hate mail and one time got like yelled at on the street. Some of the media’s stories are overtly homophobic and overly crass. It’s 2017, sure, but there are still idiots out there.
Marvin and Whizzer don’t let the attention - good or bad - get to them. They just keep being in love and posting overly sappy instagram posts about their anniversaries and poking fun at each other on twitter and the attention never breaks them.

this is completely unprompted but i just feel like sharing my first impressions of mp100 cuz why not i made this blog to infodump i can do what i want.
and honestly i read the whole thing about a year ago with very very little spoilers directly after watching the teaser for the anime so a lot of my reactions to the series were very raw and uninfluenced by anybody else’s opinion. i didnt even liveblog it i just read it. and im very glad that was how i read it and im just. reminiscing on that because im grateful that i did that back then.
mob
i first ever saw mob in some fanart that was tagged mob psycho 100 like. a good few years ago tbh. i figured it was some anime or manga i didnt get the time to read but mob first looked to me like he was a delinquent or something. the title and the way i thought abt the word “mob” in my head def had something to do with that, but also he was a straight faced boy who just seemed really seirous. i remember reading in an interview abt one punch man a bit over a year ago that ONE described saitama as stoic and mob as emotional. that. surprised the hell out of me and got me interested but i only read literally EXACTLY right after i saw the first teaser trailer for the anime
when i read the manga i fell in love with the boy right away. it didnt take me long at fucking all. he was great and wonderful and i loved him and i related to him big time and i wanted to see him grow more and more.
and my feelings are pretty much the same now except more complex. but im remembering the first time i got to the end of the world domination arc. i think that line “that’s why I will help you” really impacted me a lot for some reason. mob was, very special to me. he felt very much like me. i could relate to him a lot
reigen
i first saw reigen in some fanart but i thought he was some teenager at first because it was just some kinda cartoony fanart that wasnt very detailed. i guessed that he and mob were a duo or something like saitama and genos were from one punch but i did not guess that it was going to be a master-discible relationship
i hated reigen at first gonna be completely fuckin honest here i was a bit annoyed with him like yeah he was funny but he was also kind of rude??? and i didnt like that he was tricking mob because i loved mob
by the end of the read he really did grow on me. but ive always been a bit hard on the poor guy, but thats just because hes an adult i suppose. even during the separation arc i have to admit.....i wasnt all that sympathetic toward him until the VERY VERY end. IF IM BEING ENTIRELY HONEST I WAS KIND OF GLAD BECAUSE I WAS GLAD THAT MOB REALIZED HE DIDNT NEED HIM AND THAT REIGEN REALIZED HE DID. also i felt he did deserve at least some of what he got from that arc, all things considered. dont get me wrong, i love him now but it did really take a while for me, probably longer than anyone else i know. now im love this greasman with my whole heart (but i still wish he would pay mob more. preoblematic fav for that reason only)
dimple
i knew that dimple was sort of the mascot character but i hoped he wouldnt be one of those annoying ones but i didnt think he would be since i had some faith in ONE’s writing abilities. he seemed like a ghost and i knew that mp100 had ghosts so yeah i thought it was cool to have a ghost character why not
lots of ppl were irritated by dimple at first but. ehhh i could never hate him. i only mildly disliked him before i realized he was That Guy. anyway i had been mostly neutral on dimple but by the mogami arc i actually really started loving dimple a lot because he saved mob a bunch of times and i support mob having friends i dont care who they are i want this good boy to have friends
by the end i absolutely did love him i loved him and reigens interractions at that point but i didnt know if it was like. socially acceptable to ship him with reigen. i wouldnt have done it with sg dimple because i had no idea that was even a thing. i forgot abt that dumbass security guard he wasnt even a person in my mind honestly the first sg dimple fanart i came across i was so confused i was like. who is this. who is this man dimples possessing. took me forever to realize it was that security guard who he possessed for probably less than an hour and that confused the hell out of me but then i realized. oh. u guys just want to make him hot. okay
ritsu
ritsu was probably the character i knew the most about, but i knew very little. i only saw him in opm/mp100 fanarts where they compared mob and ritsu to tatsumaki and fubuki, and i guessed that ritsu was the fubuki with the inferiority complex. and i was right but it wasnt it quite the same way. but overall he seemed interesting in that regard since i loved fubuki at the time so he was a character i was looking forward to.
ritsu was...it was love at first sight??? yeah. i loved ritsu so much right from the start i loved how he was introduced i loved his character arc i loved the whole way it was presented if the teru arc just before that hadn’t already hooked me then his arc sure as fuck did.
the last line i ever saw ritsu utter when i finally caught up with the manga was the famous “hnn...the loans” line. perhaps one of the best lines of all time??? i loved ritsu and since i knew fuck abt shit wrt what was going to happen in the scar arc i was literally about to cry when it was revealed he might be dead god. i was SO STRESSED IN THAT WHOLE FUCKING ARC I DONT THINK I HAD EVER BEEN MORE STRESSED IN MY LIFE.
teru (oh boy)
i first saw teru in the first teaser. i think that was actually the thing that made me want to read it, mostly because the animation and movement in that scene just was so. good. and flowing. he seemed like a villain to me, or some sort of rival. but a harmless one. one that couldn’t fucking touch mob. it sort of reminded me of the thing w/ saitama vs sonic in opm. he seemed like an asshole, but for some reason in my heart when i saw him doing that shit there, i felt like i would like him. i had no basis for this. but i cant believe i was right
when i first saw teru in the manga i was gettin all excited because “hey this looks like the esper kid in the teaser!” and i was excited to see a new character like that introduced. i at least wanted to meet another esper. and teru seemed like the type of villain who would get his ass handed to him in the worst of ways and realize that mob was much much stronger than him and maybe hed even gain some respect for it and i fucking called it i cant believe it i called it in the first page i saw him i fuckign CALLED IT. and i was screaming throughout his whole arc. every second i found myself absolutely falling in love with him and. actually. unfortunately understanding exactly where he was coming from. and once mob went on the whole “you’re just like me” speech, that was probably the defining moment.
but it didnt stop with that arc at ALL. every gotdam second he was on screen after that i was honestly thinking in my head “stop doing that ur gonna be my fav if u keep doing that!” but he kept doing that and wound up being my fav and i loved how much he believed and supported mob and i loved how different and yet how similar he was from the first time we see him and. i couldnt help myself hes my Type. i was destined to fall for him from the start

I HAD NO PREVIOUS INTRODUCTION TO SHOU BEFORE I READ THE SERIES. HE WAS NOT ANYONE TO ME. HE WAS NOTHING. which was why so much of the claw stuff surprised me tbh. but yeah i had no idea who this kid was i had not been introduced to him
when i first saw shou i disliked him for beating up ritsu and capturing him and mob and i also disliked him for calling mob a coward and THEN i disliked him for burning down mobs house and possibly killing ritsu and his family in fact by that point i was seeing red i wanted that fuckr DEAD. but then it was revealed that everyone was safe but i was still a bit peeved that he did what he did to mob just to leave a “fuse” but i was also projecting a bit because shou almost gave me a fucking HEART ATTAKC and i was NOT GOING TO EASILY FORGIVE. i did forgive tho. eventually. after my poor heart calmed down and i saw him get beat up by his dad and his hubris
at the end i shipped ritshou because obviously i shipped ritshou i mean how can u not i mean theyre just really good i shipped it
