because i am suffering from pollen. tf2 mercs and allergies.

Scout: peanuts. If he has peanuts he will get very itchy and his throat itches, if it's bad enough, to dangerous degrees. Spy carries an epipen for it

Soldier: Pollen. His nose gets runny and his sinuses feel like they're exploding. Also shellfish. He didn't know this until he had shrimp for the first time with the team. It wasn't fun.

Pyro: also pollen. They increase the filtering on their mask when spring starts. They aren't allergic to water but they avoid being submerged in it as if they were.

Demo: No allergies, but he does get a headache when spring starts. He just deals with it. Dust allergy but everyone is allergic to dust. Slight chickpeas allergy but he ignores it.

Heavy: pollen. He grew up in Russia where it is too cold for plant life 90% of the time so he never had that exposure. Also shellfish. Discovered this the same time Soldier did. It was a fun night.

Engie: no allergies. Smug about it.

Medic: cats and dogs. It's why he never owned any and he currently owns doves. Distributes the allergy meds like candy.

Sniper: is allergic to chickpeas but he doesn't care. Also allergic to sesame and does not care.

Spy: Dairy and peanuts. Is smart enough to not eat any cause he knows his allergies will be exploited if known.

While I remain a staunch cold weather defender, can’t we all get along and recognize that different bodies react differently to the opposite ends of the spectrum?

#I mean for well over a decade my skin condition got so much worse over the summer and I was thus conditioned to hate it (even now that it’s #not quite as bad anymore as long as I’m eating right) I usually feel like I can’t get enough air when it’s hot and humid out #And the sunshine just makes me sleepytired #Also I hate yard work and mosquitos. I have friends with allergies which get worse during every season but winter #BUT #I know enough of you thrive in sunshine.. somehow don’t bake in the heat.. have poor circulation.. for some reason are opposed to layers..#I’m willing to stop bringing up the defects in y’all’s favorite season if you do likewise #(This is all very tongue in cheek I just hope it stays that way and the arguments don’t get real)

Really wish I could fight the schmuck who invented allergies with my bare hands

#Seasonal allergies suck ASS.#Usually it's not too bad but like. Our air conditioning has been out for like 3 days now #And it's not getting fixed til Monday #So I've had to sleep with my windows open bc otherwise I'd ROAST like a pig in my room #(Which is upstairs. Where ALLLL the heat in the house travels to)#But bc I've had to sleep with my windows open. ALL the pollen keeps blowing in #So I'll wake up with my eyes streaming and my nose streaming and EVERYTHING just. Awful #I could close the window. But then I'd cook. But my allergies are SO bad. But it's hot. But I literally cannot breathe through my own snot.#HATE IT HERE #I hate summer. I HAAAATE summer so much #I can't wait for fall and winter.....snow please come back.....#Shima speaks #I'm so angry bc I've been stuffy and congested all day. And I've taken at least 3 allergy pills #Still dying btw! Still dying. Very much suffering rn

The British government says that inflation isn't "that bad".

I have coeliac disease and am physically unable to digest gluten or wheat. I have to eat food made of corn flour, and it's already four times more expensive than food made out of wheat flour. Inflation has made it damn near impossible to find ordinarily priced food that I can actually fucking eat, because all the cheap alternative stuff designed to help people save money have a shit ton of wheat it.

Next time the government wants to tell me that inflation isn't "that bad", I want them to live on a gluten free diet for a week with an average weekly wage. Maybe then they'd fucking understand that just because abled people can cope with inflation, it doesn't mean disabled people can.

Fuck the UK government. Fuck the monarchy as well.

#yeah so sorry i haven't been doing much here despite my goal being to get caught up on oc posts and start writing (which i did start #doing)#but uh. yeah so im still sick. yknow from December 24th. yeah.#it's developed into uh respiratory issues brought on by allergies and/or asthma. not 100% sure yet getting tested next week #but yeah it's so fun i have to take meds (one of which has Spontaneous Depression as a side effect #as if i needed more of that) and i CAN'T FUCKING BREATH MOST THE TIME WITHOUT HACKING A LUNG UP #needless to say. hate it here!#anyways hopefully will have some more stuff soo #n.

Durge who was doing really well being a tough little chaos demon, but the moment they set foot in the Myconid Colony, the spores trigger their allergies and they spend the entire time snotty, eyes watering, trying to act tough, but ultimately they're the biggest baby about being allergic to everything under the surface.

I turned on the Oscars for ten minutes, Poor Things won three awards, and I am now flipping the table and flouncing off.

#i have never been so certain of how much i would hate an Oscar nommed film in my LIFE #my local movie theater had to put up a SIGN reminding people this film is rated R and they would not issue refunds if you #simply found the content objectionable. i have never seen anyone have to do that for a movie before or since #i then looked up the reasons for the rating and it was like a comprehensive allergy list if the allergies were my personal rage triggers

Comic Expo haul!

As usual I went in with a whole list of recs and tbr books to find and found basically zero of them. The expo was smaller again this year, due to our convention hall being under renovations, which meant fewer booths and fewer book options (alas!). Ah well, I improvised and found a bunch of cool new stuff anyway! Mostly manga this year, bc the manga booth by far had the best selection. There were tons of comics booths, but as usual older Marvel/DC stuff dominated and I couldn't really find anything that interested me.

Anyway, I found:

1. whole bunch of manga! Box of Light was a cover buy (it's gorgeous), Blue Morning looks interesting and was selling like hotcakes so I nabbed the first 3 volumes while I could. Peach Girl and Hyper Dolls were at a random booth for 5 for $20 so I couldn't resist them lol. Princess Jellyfish I finally picked up after years of going "hmmm maybe..." and it's an absolute delight (it's the only one I've read so far), my only regret is not grabbing a couple more volumes. And finally Evangelion vol 1, which I owned years ago, but for some reason got rid of when I moved. I do want to finish the series someday, though!

2. DEATH NOTE BOX SEEEEEEET AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH. I'm SO excited, i always wanted to read the whole series but I'm very bad at keeping up with manga and didn't buy all the volumes before they went out of print. My hometown library had it when I was a teenager, but someone (presumably an extremely religious, scandalized parent of some other unfortunate emo teen) had ripped out all the pages with violence, sexuality, or satanic/goth imagery....so yeah, I didn't get to read very much of them after all. I'm sooooo excited to have my own copies with ALL the pages that NO ONE can deface!!!!

3. The only comic I actually bought at the comic expo lol: Sex Criminals vol 4. been lowkey meaning to finish that series for a while, though this was kind of a pity buy bc I spent 45 mins hiding from the crowds in the Redd Skull Comics booth (they put down nice plush carpet, and have tall bookshelves, so it makes it a good booth to decompress in) and felt like I should buy something in return for the hiding spot.

4. DRAGONLANCE ART BOOK!!!! YES, A BOOK FULL OF MY FAVOURITE 80s BOOK COVER PAINTINGS!!!! I love it so much. So, so much. It was expensive as hell, but WORTH IT. I usually don't bother with art books bc I never remember to look at them, but I've opened this multiple times to stare at the gorgeous paintings of Raistlin, so it was a good buy. (also I know WOTC is in hot water again, so disclaimer: I bought this from a secondhand comics booth, it's just in extraordinary condition. WOTC got 0 of my dollars this weekend).

#book haul #sorry for the long post #i felt the need to Explain and also preserve my memories #this was a pretty great expo book-wise. at least bc of the death note and dragonlance books #which is good bc a couple of the guests i really wanted to see cancelled so SOMETHING really good had to happen #i hope the construction is done next year bc its a total clusterfuck tho. like the layout is fucked. the main stage area is too small.#and while there's still tons of vendors you can't get completely irredeemably lost like you used to #anyway. it was a decent time. well worth taking 2 days off work and taking soooo much cough syrup. i HATE cough syrup #(I wasn't contagious by the time i went i promise. my fever was broken but my cold + allergies were just dragging on and being a pain)
