What the fuck do they think the handlers and other CE staff are there for?  The reason fans have to ask about things to be signed or poses for ops are so that fucking boundary-blind weirdos don’t try to break the rules and/or curbstomp all over the actor’s personal boundaries, FFS.  The actors are people, not blowup dolls that exist just to act out or validate their delusional fantasies to whatever invasive extent some nut feels entitled to.  Those rules are there because the actors want them to be, not because CE staff are persecuting poor shippers who would otherwise get their way if the staff were “taken out behind the toolshed”. 

I'm so intrigued by everything about Harry helping fans come out at his shows. There's the fact that he so consistently and frequently engages with fans with those kinds of signs and makes such a big deal of it at his shows when his comments about his own personal life place kind of deemphasize the importance of coming out, like that quote about his friends knowing his sexuality. Especially because of the very unique kind of coming out he's facilitating. I mean, presumably if you bring one of those signs to a show, you're out to the people you know and came with (or they quickly figured it out when you pulled out your giant 'help me come out' sign), so it's really standing in front of an arena full of strangers and declaring your queerness, versus coming out to friends or other people in your life. And then too, like you said, the fact that he seems to pretty consistently equate coming out (and this declaration kind of coming out) with freedom. It's really interesting, and honestly, for me, sometimes really hard to square that Harry with his public comments about his sexuality.

Same. I was trying to decide whether I should sit on this ask and wait to answer it until I had more coherent thoughts on the subject. But yeah, everything you said. We'll never know how Harry feels about it or why he does it. But it does stand out to me as a major contradiction that sometimes does my head in a little when I really think about it.

i wonder if the current feeling of “im not ready for college i don’t know what i want to do or who i want to be and i have to know that to be an adult and everyone around me already has it figured out i’m behind” has anything to do with the prevalence of coming of age stories with teen protagonists, where the protags do figure that out at the reader’s age or younger. like sociologically. does it correlate

So I recently came to an epiphany. For a long time I thought my fictional crushes had a common thread of looks and that I was attracted to that. But as the list of exceptions grew longer and longer, the ability to find any similar physical features was getting harder and harder.

Plus I've met a lot of people that fit what I thought my type was in real life—nothing. Just...no dice. No attraction.

I don't think looks are what do it for me.

I started looking at the fictional character that I have had crushes on, and what they DO have in common are personality traits and personal stories. Like, it's a way more solid thread of commonality. So, I may be drawn to a certain personality type.

It may also help explain why I have yet to have a crush on or feel attracted to a real person.
