listen I expected literally Nothing from the D&D movie okay, like I can't make it clear enough that I expected the most soulless money grab with a good cgi budget imaginable, I went in having already gone through every stage of grief and landed on acceptance and LISTEN
I fucking CRIED during this dumb RPG movie. it wasn't just "not terrible" it was objectively good with a clever plot and compelling characters and sincere emotional beats. this movie loves D&D so fucking much and it NAILS the "a bunch of goobers try to be cool and accidentally discover The Power Of Friendship And Also Great Violence" classic D&D party vibe. their barbarian's last name is fucking Kilgore and my entire family cried in the theater.
I hope they make twelve of these motherfuckers.

We get, rightfully imo, pretty sad and somber and naval-gazey about Discworld and Sir Terry on the 25th of May but I need everyone who might be discovering this series through this annual outpouring of love and sadness to know that these books are mostly just really fucking funny. Like, they're heart-wrenching and poignant but really they can only pull that off because they're also the funniest books ever written. There's a line near the end of Hogfather that, when I read it, made me feel more deeply connected to, like, the concept of humanity then I ever have before, but the book was only able to deliver that because the rest of it is about what if Santa Claus got kidnapped and a Big Skeleton had to take over his job? It's a patently ridiculous series but that is absolutely also where it's power comes from.

(end of bad’s Acceptance vod, about 1:48:30)
no but im never going to be normal again. LOOK at this. look. IMMEDIATELY before this he gave a whole miserable speech at the graveyard about how much he misses the kids and how he wants them to come home. He was grieving so hard it started to rain. He cried while he sang to them. It was the perfect end to 5 days of grieving- and then he does this.
and the rain isnt about grief anymore- the thunder isnt a peaceful background to a heartbreaking scene. It is rage. the whole context changes. The storm raged on while he grieved like he raged during the Everything Else that happened (“there are a lot of federation workers on today. I need to interrogate them about some things” he said while he was following forever ALONE to distract him. he knew forever was fucked up and about to put more marriage pressure on him and for anyone else that would have been Terrifying. how could you focus on anything but that? but. bad was thinking about tormenting more federation workers)
i just!!!! its so good. its SO good its so scary its so good. bad hasnt accepted the loss of his children but he has accepted how far he will go to get them back. (he will do anything)

had an odd dream that i was reading a comic book. sketched a couple of the pages i could remember.
#i might adapt this into an actual story because i am SO SO SO mad that it isn't a thing i can go back to reading#oc#im definitely keeping the concept of save-bot i fucking love save-bot he's just doing his best. i love a robot who wants to help people#im not equipped to be writing about underground rebellions with any sense of real tact though#besides its in a superhero universe/story so you know it would just be so sucks lol#sketch#god the colors were so interesting. the teal parts were all very precisely crosshatched and the fire was this gorgeous brush pen looking#colored inks that just seemed like they were MOVING#and i mean some of that was because i was dreaming but god even in my halfhearted copy you can see some of the movement#it was a bad scene but a really really REALLY fun dream. i love when a book can *get* to me so i was really enjoying it#put it aside so i could take a break and woke up. instant fury at the universe for not having it be a real book instead#ill reblog with details if anyone's curious. i can explain this scene but i dont feel like it#the green people are in a secret basement though. hiding from the government. blue jacket guy is a speedster robot named save-bot who does#rescue stuff with every fire department so fire suppression technology is not very good because save-bot "can just save you''#however they're badly over their legal occupancy and the secret basement has One (1) exit so everyone is like really fucked here.#includinig save-bot who is going to do his job until he dies because he is an ai without any sense of self preservation and he cares#which i didn't even CATCH until i woke up and started tryin to frantically note everything down#and then i was like wait. the glitter on that last page before i realized i needed a glass of water to keep reading... what WAS that...#(it was tears suspended in midair because save-bot goes so fast and also knows he's so fucked LOL)#seriously i'm so mad someone else didn't make this.

i think i've literally exhausted every possible thought to have about beyond evil, because i was just thinking about the man juwon's mom left behind to marry han kihwan. literally someone only mentioned once in passing. is this too far.

ronance college/coffee shop au where robin works the opening shift at like 4:30 a.m. and always uses it as an opportunity to win some extra money and take a nap (cause who would get up that early to get a coffee right)
until a very, very pretty girl with a pile of books twice her size starts to come in at like 5 a.m. everyday and she's half in love half confused cause why the hell would anyone order a giant oat milk latte and study until the sun rises when she could just be back home sleeping

52. Fake death/presumed dead
oh hehehhee...... want something horribly angsty? how about that one time Tossdir kinda sorta died for a minute after the Tur-Morva rescue!
Tossdir wasn’t really sure where he was. He stood in a mostly black space, empty, and a little cold. He was dimly aware that he was in pain, but he couldn’t tell where, it was just dull like everything else. He thought he heard someone shouting earlier, but he can’t remember why they were, it felt like so long ago. What was he doing before he came to this place? Maybe there was a battle of some kind, but he wasn’t sure, all he knew was that he felt very tired.
He suddenly becomes aware of a familiar presence standing before him, he looks up
“Meneldir…?”
His brother seemed more surprised than he was, “Tossdir?” but Meneldir’s shock quickly fell away into a look of sheer horror that Tossdir couldn’t understand the reason for “No… no no no, you shouldn’t be here! Not now, not this soon-”
“What are you talking about? Is that really you-” he took a step towards Meneldir
“Stop! Don’t come any closer!” Meneldir shouted, taking a step back from him. Tossdir froze, a terribly familiar pain seizing his heart at the words. After all this time, Meneldir still pushes him away.
“...Mennie?” is all he could manage to say for a moment, between the hurt and confusion “I… I missed you”
“I missed you too,” Meneldir attempted to give a comforting smile, despite the panic in his voice and the tears welling in his eyes “but please, you… you cannot stay here. You have to leave, right now.”
“What... is happening? Why do you still push me away?” He tried to take another step forward.
“Stop!” Meneldir shouted again, “I’m sorry, but if you stay here you’ll die,” tears ran down Meneldir’s face, but the desperation and sorrow in his voice did nothing to dissuade Tossdir “you have to turn back, your friends still need you.”
“I still need you!” he didn’t understand why Meneldir seemed to think he was in danger here, and honestly he didn’t care to. The sight of his brother here tore open the wound in his heart all over again, and he could not willingly leave now no matter what he said. “Meneldir, please, don’t- don’t do this again!” from behind him he felt a hand on his shoulder, trying to pull him back, but he instinctively fought against it.
“It isn’t your time yet, don’t fight them” Tossdir felt another hand on his other arm pulling him back, he heard a familiar voice beckoning him, but he couldn’t hear what she said.
“Don’t leave me again!” he pleads through blinding tears. Even if he can’t stay here he has to get to Meneldir, he has to at least hug him one last time, but still he is pulled back, too weak to struggle any more.
“I’m sorry Tossdir, I will find you again,” Meneldir quietly promised “I love you, always remember that”
"No, wait-!" Tossdir lost his footing, fell back, and knew nothing more.

Meneldir is gone. Thick darkness still surrounds him, but this time he lays on his back, all too aware of the pain he’s in, of the lash wounds he is now laying on and the numerous searing cuts left by Falcon blades. His head is spinning, hot tears cling to his face and his chest aches terribly.
“He’s breathing again,” a weary voice above him says, it might be Saeradan “I think the worst is over.”
“Thank the Valar…” Another voice, Ethedis he thinks. He feels a hand clasped tightly around his own. “please, just stay with us this time…” She sounds different, her voice is weak now, thin like paper. He tries to ask if she’s hurt, but all he manages is a pained groan. A cool hand brushes the sweat and tears from his face, all he can do is lean into the touch “You're alright, Toss,” she says “just rest now.”
There is no fight left in him, so he simply does as she asks. His senses and thoughts blur into one another and fade, sleep finally takes him.
#every time I put Tossdir in the plinko I am unfortunately reminded that at least one of his loved ones will be having an equally bad time#usually more than one. Oh, haha, I was just about to post a link to his stream of the preview livestream, for anyone else who was curious to see it!
He's speaking Japanese, which means his readings of the names (which are written in Japanese) are probably a more accurate guess than what I'm doing with my dictionary, yeah. The kanji characters that Japanese names are usually written with often have multiple ways they can be read, though, and my understanding is that even if you're a native speaker, the first reading of the name that comes to mind may not always be the correct one, in the same way you could misread a name in English because you've heard it pronounced one way, but the person whose name it is pronounces it another way.
Which isn't to say I think he's wrong necessarily! Just that (at least as I understand it as someone learning Japanese) it's still not 100% confirmation those are their canon names, so I'll hold off on calling anything "confirmed" until I hear the names in-game, just to be safe.
(Though, to be clear, I do consider Yui confirmed, since they write that name in English in some cases as well, haha. The above explanation applies to the three names written in Japanese.)
