a) I did come out to our mom. Years ago. She told me I was going to die miserable and alone and no one would ever love me.

b) I came out to my sister the same night and she responded in the exact same way

and she both has completely overwritten this in her memory and continued to be sort of a shitty ✨ally✨ about it by being like “oh well asexuality is really hard to understand” and “if you told mom you were dating girls I think she’d be fine with it”

and like. I’m not a lesbian, I’m not bisexual, I’m not dating girls, I’m not dating guys, I am just, still, fucking ace.

I really wish A03 authors didn't have this tradition of tagging every single character who appears in their stories, however briefly.

See, I can filter out "blorbo dies" and scroll past the editorialising tags, but I have to actually open the stories where blorbo has like three paragraphs in a giant multiple chapter story and for some reason they author felt the need to tag him. It will not make me read your story. It will make me annoyed.

I defeated the goblin camp leaders and got the quest updated and didn't realize that updating the journal doesn't autosave the progress.

So when I tried to leave the goblin camp and had to fight the entire horde out front of the sanctum it was unwinnable for me. No spells left, barely any hp.

I went to quickload it and it took me all the way back to the dror raglzin fight. Ugh!!! An hour of game play lost!! I'm so annoyed it doesn't quick save when the quest log is updated!! Why does it not do that!!!

I really don't feel like fighting him or fighting the goblin horde especially since I did part of it once already. Any tips would be appreciated. Is it feasible to long rest before fighting the rest of the goblin horde?

the thing is i think i'm puzzling this out and i think it's like. the thinking goes:

this fic is popular -> everyone is saying good things about it on the internet -> but i didn't like the fic -> i need to tell people the reasons why i didn't like it so that they can make an informed decision before deciding whether to read, because otherwise they will automatically assume the fic is really good when i think it's not good

and this type of thinking demonstrates a few key things to me.

the fundamental misunderstanding that fanfiction is a unique form of media unlike books, movies, tv shows, or anything else created within a profit economy

an underdeveloped ability for independent critical thought. like...if you are concerned that anyone seeing something get popular on the internet will automatically assume it's good the main thing that tells me is that YOU don't engage critically with media and essentially believe whatever you see on the internet, which is probably why you were so surprised when you went to read something a lot of people liked and discovered that you don't like it.

a staggering lack of self-awareness and an overabundance of entitlement. fanfic writers aren't writing for an audience. they are writing first and foremost for themselves, and maybe also for their friends and communities. they are definitely not writing for you, which means it doesn't fucking matter whether you like it or not.

and it really just boggles my mind to see people act as though they are protecting others or doing them a favor by "warning" about how much they dislike a fic, because it's like...you are not saving anyone money by telling them not to read a fic. you are not protecting them from triggering content, because (assuming that a fic is tagged correctly) people can read the fucking tags and make their own decisions about what they do or do not want to read. and people can open a fic, decide they don't like it for literally any reason, and then close it and move on. so who are you helping???? who????

and this sort of logic that operates under the assumption that it is somehow morally correct to "help" people make "informed decisions" also contributes to this weird moralization of a lot of little things that just boil down to you not liking a certain characterization or decision an author made. like -- key example is people going "oh wolfstar in atyd is toxic." like...by nebulously defining something as "toxic," you get the moral high ground of acting like you are warning people about something morally Bad, when in reality you just don't have very good media literacy. i've also seen this with people throwing around the words "problematic" and "fetishization" without explaining what they're actually talking about--essentially just using buzzwords to give their opinions an air of moral superiority and make it seem like they are doing anything aside from just being hateful to writers who literally never wanted them to read their writing in the first place. so.

Aaron was originally one of my oldest ocs, I retired him and his old gang because of just how long I've played with them. (i made them when i was like... 10-12?)

He started off being a wrath demon that turned into a tormented demon prince, to a demon gladiator, to ghost-rider, then back to a gladiator, then a British guy that died after ww1 because of survives guilt, then to now...

a sad guy with a shredded voice and tragic backstory, who's the most violent in his mercenary group but also wouldn't hurt a hair on the group's head.

anyway, violent lil man, love him to death. he deserves to be a side character for once

Monthly committee meeting that starts at 7pm to which I am obviously going to be late to...

I wonder how many words I can squeeze out today... Pretty sure I can't manage the 2-3K I've managed for the last three days in a row.

I got another pack of these edibles I got last year that made me sleep like a baby kitten without making me turbo blasted if I ate just a little piece of one and I am going to sleep so good and not be cranky and angry at everything anymore (<- positive affirmation/mantra)

I just want a day alone where I'm not working so I can just write. Is that too much to ask?

Mr King with all due respect Fuck You for making Bane's thesis that he fights bat.man because he's too afraid to kill himself like,,,,,,that is quite literally The Opposite of who this character is, and what he represents.  Bane is a testament to living despite the universe demanding you don't, I cannot extend my middle finger high enough to this weird psychosexual grimdark misread of a character whose core trait is survival and perseverance

He didn't go to go.tham to die he went to gotha.m to murder his perceived demons and try to Live for the first time in his life. His whole character arc was about learning that not everyone has to be his enemy and it’s actually okay to care and be cared for. 

You may also take my choice words about implying that venom was a choice bane made retrospectively after breaking out of pena duro -- his whole?? Literally you Used His Whole ‘I’m Innocent’ Psychology and then removed Why he claimed it.
