What are you most controversial/unpopular OP opinions??? Sorry if it was answered before
You want me to get canceled so bad-- If I speak-- But idk, I guess I'll say the controversial opinions I can say publicly without a bunch of people coming at me!
Zo$an is a bit... Overrated? And by overrated I mean extremely/annoyingly overrated. I like the ship and its canon dynamic but I think at least 80% of the fandom portrays them in a very mischaracterized way. Not to say that... The ship is literally everywhere and the shippers always look for every little thing to prove they're canon, even if the "proof" has literally nothing to do with them. It's not that I don't enjoy the ship (although I must admit I prefer other dynamics a lot more) I just can't stand shippers that go to extremes. It's funny because I think Zo$an's dynamic is way more interesting and romantic in canon than it will ever be in the fandom. It's a bit sad, ngl. I liked them a lot at first but it got so tiring and now I am pretty exhausted from seeing it everywhere. The people force it to be more than it is when the canon is already pretty fucking great.
Adding to the Zo$san thing. I think that relationship would only work if Luffy is there somehow but it wouldn't last a day without him in the relationship. Unless there's like, a ton of character development most of these people don't make them go through.
One Piece Film Z is my worst enemy. It's such a boring movie. The only good thing is the soundtrack and maybe the suits but God watching that was torture.
Boa hate is uhhhh weird. I mean, I get why the joke about her being in love with Luffy might be annoying, but I think most of you need to learn to understand that Oda's sense of humor is sometimes a bit too exaggerated (and not funny) and it has basically nothing to do with the actual canon dynamics between characters. Boa likes Luffy because he's one of the first men who has ever treated her right, so of course she confuses that feeling with love. And of course, yeah, it isn't canon. Whatever. Just read between the lines, maybe? And also, stop using words like "pedo" to describe her because using that term so lightly about 1) a fictional character and 2) somebody who's clearly not a pedo is fucked up. Lmao. Do you even know what that word means???
Once again complaining about Pudding hate and saying that it's stupid. I won't overanalyze because I always do it with her, but the only reason people hate her is for misogynistic reasons and because they're babying Sanji. Evil male characters are okay and hot and very traumatized but the second it's a woman she's the most evilest person ever! Because God forbid they make mistakes! Suddenly their character development isn't valid because they hurt their babygirl!
Now that we're talking about my dearest Pudding. Not tagging anybody of course, but I saw this post with so many interactions of people agreeing about Sanji considering violence as a sign of love which??? Doesn't make sense at all?? OP said it was because he couldn't tell the difference between love/abuse because of his family, but that's just... Not accurate. That could only happen if they had manipulated him into thinking abuse is a type of love, but he had healthy love growing up. Even when he was with the Vinsmokes (Sora and Reiju, I love you). And yet OP said Sanji considered Pudding's behavior flirting (wrong) and that's why he let her attack him (nope) and that it was proof of Zo$an. And okay, it's not a hugely popular theory, but a lot of people agreed with it and it bothered me a lot because it's both out of character and also using Pudding (complex female character) once again to try and prove the canon of a ship (that doesn't have anything to do with WCI either???). It just bothers me. People can perceive the story however they want but... Y'know.
OPLA isn't that good. Or good at all? I only like it because I like the cast and it's funny seeing my blorbos irl. But the script is simple and dull and just stupid most of the time. The characters are either simplified, mischaracterized, or forgotten. And tbh most of the shots are very awful and could be a lot better. The directing is also nonexistent. It's 6/10 and 3 of those points are because both the Zolu and the cast.
Apparently this is a very common theory about Nami's origins, but, uh, I don't think we need to know? What else do you need to know about her? People say she's a lost princess or something like that as if we didn't have a lost princess already (Sanji ily). Repeating the same plot would be boring and underwhelming, but also? It'd be extremely useless for the plot and it'd go against everything about Nami's story and the way Luffy reacts to it.
Luffy isn't canon aroace. In fact, the reasoning people use for him being "coded" is the same Oda uses for Zoro too and Zoro is almost never portrayed as the "idiot who doesn't know what sex is" the way Luffy often is. If you're calling Luffy canon aroace for what Oda said about him being focused on adventures, the same goes for Zoro being focused on his dream. They could be coded arospec but there's nothing confirmed and the constant discourse about it is stupid. Attacking others because of their ships just because you don't agree with them and saying it's wrong using our identity to do it is very fucked up. Especially since most of the time people complaining aren't even aroace. The only reason people do it (attacking others saying they can't ship Luffy and that it's "weird" and "wrong") is that they infantilize Luffy/Don't want him getting in between their ships (<- aroace person writing this) (also, it's very ableist since people agree on Luffy also being neurodivergent coded and treating him like a kid bc of that but this isn't about that now).
Somehow this is very common. Some fucking how. I can't believe I have to say this. I'm tired of people blaming Usopp for what happened in Water 7. Or in general hating Usopp. Actually, he's one of the best-written characters in the whole show and he's so underappreciated it's so frustrating.
Sanji's perv jokes are annoying af and we all know that, but people who hate the character and consider him a red flag for that are missing the point completely. The point being "Oda exaggerates jokes to an annoying extent and most of the time they don't even reflect the character". I understand they can make you uncomfortable (same here tbh) but reducing Sanji to only those jokes is a waste of his character. You need to take jokes less seriously.
If I see one of these "red flag OP boys" TikToks adding Law/Ace/Zoro/Sanji next to fucking Doffy I will riot. Also, stop adding Crocodile there. He's a mafioso, there's NO way he won't be a sweetheart to his lover.
Baron Omatsuri's artstyle and animation is amazing and it fits the plot and aesthetic of the movie perfectly and people saying it's ugly will forever bother me.
"Usopp is suddenly hot after timeskip!" He has always been hot what the fuck are you talking about.
People reduce Nami to her "mean"/"sarcastic" personality a lot when she's quite literally one of the most kind-hearted characters of all. That being said, morally speaking she's probably one of the worst. I could explain how that works but I don't want to do it now, the point is-- Let the girl be sweet instead of making her mean all the time. And also, let her be mean and selfish without making it her entire personality. There's something called "balance".
Film Red was kind of bad. Like, the songs are amazing (thanks, Ado) but the ending is awful and the plot is very meh. I'm only here for Uta and Shanks but the rest of the characters are just useless. I do appreciate Sanji's hair in the movie, though.

Hello! Really love your content so far and it makes me so incredibly happy seeing more people reimagining Alfred and Matthew as nonwhite compared to it being controversial 8years ago.
Ever since I joined the fandom I always had the (at the time) unpopular opinion that the NA bros were from mixed heritages (White/Indigenous), which as an American non-white Latino with Indigenous roots made the most sense to me especially considering that even in the manga they don't really represent the government, but the people themselves and both countries (especially the US) are so diverse it absolutely baffled me that they were just plain white boys. I always imagined them being mixed, but never quite fitting in with either groups.
I am sorry if I overstep on this next bit, please feel free to correct me on anything I say, I've just had a long time to think about this and how other countries would react, which is gonna put England/France into a bad light but...they were straight up horrific to the Natives. Even France.
I know you mentioned how in Hetalia, the personifications get along with their overseers/colonizers and that they wouldn't be okay with this, and I think I may have to *slightly* disagree.
I think when it comes to Nations and how they view their fellow personifications, how they look won't matter as much compared to how they act or culture wise. I can see that while the two heavily resemble Native features, when they were taken in by their colonizers they were raised to hold to those same European values that still do plague the country today. I can imagine Arthur making sure that Alfred ignores his Indigenous roots and that he's raised as a proper British colony, speaking and writing in English only, being raised as a proper Christian etc. Forced to assimilate, which has been done to so many people that come from different cultures from the time America was colonized to even now in some places. They may not look completely white, but by god will he makes sure they act like they do.
I don't think he would have ever been okay with his people being killed, tortured, having their cultures and languages erased or even enslaved, because he does not represent the cruel ideas the government has, but the people itself...which also do include the people that *ARE* okay with this. A constant battle Alfred has to deal with, which ends up with him making not the best choices.
Things aren't perfect even today, there's still so many issues that's happening where Indigenous folks are still fighting for basic rights to water, working roads, etc. But at the current time, more Americans these days (especially the much younger generations that were taught/look up about the atrocities that our government has committed, especially now that the Native voices have platforms to speak on), are much more aware. I see the brothers trying to reclaim their roots, and start what will be centuries long reparations on what their people have done to the Indigenous community. Which honestly, reconnecting with cultures after being forced to assimilate to American culture is something big thats happening here all across the United States with Latino-Americans embracing their heritage, African-Americans who were descendents of those stolen from their homeland reconnecting with their culture, Indigenous people bringing their languages and foods back to light.
It's honestly just a very difficult journey I think they would have as they have to deal with Nationhood, but forgetting who they came from and having to give themselves up to a certain group. Again, never fitting in completely with one or the other.
Again, I'm so incredibly sorry if this is overstepping in anyway or if some things don't make sense. It's such a complicated subject that really can't be summed up super easily and I did want to go longer but I felt like this was long enough already @_@
Firstly, you are not overstepping in the slightest! I am legitimately so content and kind of misty-eyed to see so many other native fans of the show both interact within the fandom and give their own interpretation on both canon and OC characters. It was never this wholesome and community-oriented when I first joined the fandom and I'm glad I stuck around to see the tide change.
Secondly, your interpretation of France and England's involvement in Canada and America's assimilation is... very accurate, and while it's something I've fought about with myself in my plotting of Alfred's life (because I don't want to hate them lol), they most definitely did have a hand in his disconnection. However, as much as I agree they are influenced by both their natives and settlers, I do think they very much hold their own reservations and opinions on the social climate around them as any individual human being would.
While American society and most American presidents were anti-indigenous and pro-slavery, there were also vigilant indigenous activists and abolitionists; there were men and women who defended and engrained themselves with native communities and there were men and women who fought mercilessly to free enslaved people. I believe Alfred was one of those people. Alfred noticed the wrong within the society around him and despised it-- but alongside his overseers and the people surrounding him, his thought process was in the minority.
I don't see Alfred participating in the genocide, assimilation, or enslavement of indigenous or Black people-- and it is not because I wish to sanitize this true history, but because I earnestly do not see Alfred being so cruel (as he was someone who also thought himself a better person than his brutal fatherly figure). I do think he did try to feel indifferent most of the time to... well, assimilate, but I also like to think he was infuriated, enraged, while at the same time having convictions on where his help is best suited as a native man with the privileges and appearance of a white man (I hc that he very consciously slaughtered slave-owners and triple k members, especially during the civil war, but I realize that may be a heavy hc to have).
I appreciate you bringing up the increase of younger folks in America beginning their decolonization/reconnection journeys because that is absolutely what I feel Al and Matt are going through actively, but I like to think they began their reconnection journey much earlier, during the rise of AIM in the 1970s. I see them being the biggest activists for all their native communities and they help in every possible way they can. Not only because they want to reconnect and amend their mistakes, but because they altruistically care for their people.
Their hobbies absolutely include remodeling the homes of elders and delivering food to them. They are very much for the landback movement and will call out anti-indigenous sentiment without hesitation. I also think Alfred separates himself from his governmental supervisors in current day and will challenge them now compared to when he stayed relatively compliant as a young nation.
I still have SO MANY theories about Alfred and Matt's origins and experiences with assimilation that I am working out, but I want to carefully plot it all out so as to not trivialize legitimate indigenous trauma, especially as a reconnector. All I can say is that if the land I stand on had a personification, it would be an indigenous being, no question.

Hi Jett! It's been so great to see people getting involved in the conversation, and to feel less alone on this hellsite. But I have to say that sometimes, it feels dishonest when we talk about fandom like it's one big family where everyone will 100% be friends.
The truth is we are all human, and like in real life, not everyone will get along with everyone. And I don't know if that's an unpopular opinion, but I think that's ok! There are people who I just don't vibe with, and so I stay away. And I'm sure there are people who don't vibe with me. We're all sensitive souls here and it's for sure hard not to take things personally, but we're also here to be our authentic selves, and we can't expect everyone to like us and vice versa.
The good thing is the fandom is big enough for people to find their crowd. I know I dropped by a lot of inboxes and DMs before I found mine. I hope people looking for friends will reach out to the many people in the comments and reblogs to connect with people they vibe with!
Hey Non! 🖤
You raise a lot of very valid points here. It's a fact of life, yes, that not everyone will like you, no matter how authentic you are. You can be the nicest, kindest soul out there and someone will still find a way to pick a bone with you, or not like your vibe or opinion, even without ever engaging with you. (Believe me!) So yeah, I agree with most of what you've said here.
Yes, the fandom is certainly big enough for people to find their own crowds, I'm certainly not suggesting at all that we will all 100% be one, big happy family, because that's impossible, and I'm not that naive 😄
But not everyone is confident in reaching out to others. Hence why I shared my own experiences and advice today. Which I don't believe is purpetuating any kind of dishonesty. If it helps just one person out, then that's fantastic.
Everyone's experience here is different. I'm well aware that what works for me, might not work for you or someone else. But it genuinely saddens me when people feel like they don't belong here, and being the kind of person I am, of course I'm going to want to offer some advice or help where I can. I've seen numerous people today share similar advice.
And that's why I believe that the majority of this fandom is pretty awesome, in the sense that a lot of people are in fact approachable and want that interaction/engagement/friendship too.
You might feel differently based on your own experiences, of course. But the most people here really are kind and welcoming and open to dialogue etc... sure there are some who aren't, but you get that in any fandom or social circle, but it's a relatively small minority in comparison.
This conversation going around has been good to get people engaging and thinking about their own actions etc... And that can only be a positive thing.
Love you 🖤

It's been said but some of y'all are nasty about people who are different from you. You'll talk a big game about acceptance but secretly you still feel like it's your right to decide who's "too weird." Y'all don't believe in rehabilitation or collaboration or having relationships of any kind with people who are different from you. Some of y'all are just falling in line with what's ok to say on social media and what's not, but when a demographic that's unpopular with your Group comes up, the mask slips.
I'm Mormon. I know Mormons are a joke to a lot of y'all. I'm not trying to claim that Mormons are an oppressed group, but I am trying to point out that some of y'all are really gross about my religion. You'll joke that you're ok with all religions but you draw the line at Mormonism, or you'll laugh and ask how anybody could fall for such batshit beliefs, or you'll say Mormonism is homophobic or a cult or hoarding wealth or whatever else so your vitriol is justified and ok. You'll tease Mormons about our underclothing, as if that doesn't border on sexual harassment - something you wouldn't do to anybody else. Most of you speak out of really profound ignorance and preconceived notions. I've seen some of y'all compare us to animals and say the world would be better off without our religion.
I'm not here to convert you or to defend my faith. This post really isn't even about Mormonism. I'm aware that some of y'all are laughing and preparing mean replies already.
All I want to say is, if your principles don't carry over into situations where you won't get in trouble for not upholding them, they aren't really your principles.
If you say you believe people should be able to live their lives but draw the line at someone you think is "too weird," you don't actually believe it. If you claim to be all about community and cooperation and rehabilitation but aren't willing to have a conversation with someone you disagree with or who is as "weird" to you as a Mormon, we won't get very far.
I'm not perfect at this either. I'm working on it myself. Some of y'all need to check yourselves as well.
🫡
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Here's a couple of notes because I know y'all are gonna come at me. I'm tired and I already regret this post.
1. I'm not even kind of saying the LDS Church is irreproachable.
2. I don't owe you an explanation about why I'm involved with the Church, and I don't appreciate assumptions and accusations. You know where the block button is if you need it.
3. You can't tell me anything about the church/the history/the institution that I don't already know. I know a few people who could tell me stuff I don't know, but if you're thinking of Educating me on the Atrocities and Shortcomings of Mormonism, you're not one of them. Trust me, I know whatever it is you're about to say.
4. I'm not claiming the LDS Church is an oppressed group, especially in majority-White, majority-Christian USA. It's ridiculous to suggest that. It's been decades since we were oppressed in any way that matters.
5. If you're a church member and you want to follow me after reading this... Don't Just know that I rarely post about religion, don't like to, and usually take a critical tone when I do
6. I love chatting about mormonism and am very willing to discuss it with anyone who's interested (without proselytizing bc that's not my jam) - the ask box is open as long as y'all behave yourselves. But I'm not obligated to have conversations with people who are determined to be cruel to me. I'm too tired and I do have feelings. Thanks.
7. It's really not about the mormonism. Just have a heart to heart with yourself that's all. If you wanna talk about mormonism go make your own post.

1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25 for Sonic <3
On one hand, thank you so much for asking me about Sonic, it's like everyone forgot about my main fandom :(
On the other... why tho.
the character everyone gets wrong
Shadow, easy. Sonic and Eggman too... and Amy... and Tails... yeah pretty much everyone... but poor Shadow is the unfortunate victim of being hugely popular and hugely misunderstood due to inane takes that spread like wildfire.
Shadow is not an edgy boy (okay his game pushes it). Shadow is not a poow widdle blorbo who only needs to cry. Shadow did not suffer like a dog on the ARK. Shadow is not "Vegeta". Shadow does not monologue about who he is and what he thinks (neither does Sonic btw, coughcoughidwcough). There should be a law that you cannot analyze Shadow's character if you haven't at least read his script in Sonic Battle.
3) screenshot or description of the worst take you've seen on tumblr
How am I supposed to choose????? Have you seen this fandom D: (no, you haven't, lucky you. well i did.)
Among all, I get the urge to stab myself in the spleen every time I read something about Muh Mandates and Sonic Should Be Allowed to Cry and Eggman is Such A Good Dad to Sage. Or the majority of posts gushing about IDW, especially if the topic is Sonic's Principles :^)
6) which ship fans are the most annoying?
Sonadow, one of the main reasons it annoys me so much. Although some Sonamy fans push it, and I like that ship.
7) what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
hahahaha
Well, I used to dislike Shadow precisely due to his popularity, but nowadays I've warmed up to the guy. He's cool. Just... I don't get the hype.
I guess Surge is a better example. She's very annoying in canon, but what really ruins her is the amount of adoration she garnered. Y'all like her simply for the aesthetic, I checked, because she has a pitiful amount of fanfictions that actual star her as a character. (one of them is mine, and I don't even like her. Just sayin'.)
Oh, and I will never be objective about Sage. Sorry. She's bland and on her own inoffensive, but her association with Eggdad ruined her for me.
8) common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about
That ShTH is a bad game >:( it's funny y'all are just mean.
Again, I can't choose. This fandom has just... so many Takes. I guess I'll go with "Shadow was turned into Vegeta", which is... factually untrue, outside of the Boom series.
9) worst part of canon
Can't choose, honestly. Maybe splitting Classic Sonic into a different character, instead of simply keeping him an older design for Sonic. Boy, the discourse that it caused...
12) the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Hmm. To be fair I mostly like popular characters. I'd say that now I like Elise much more than I used to, but then again she's becoming more popular. So... Infinite, maybe? I like the dude, he's both cool and pathetic and I have no idea how he manages to do that. Sick theme too. And he's voiced by Liam O'Brien and his horniness for violence shows :'D
And you know what? Zor. Zor is the funniest of the Deadly Six. He's self aware and that elevates him. Y'all are too mean to the Deadly Six in general, but Zor is the one who deserves it less.
13) worst blorboficiation
Shadow, again. This poor dude just isn't seen for who he is.
15) that one thing you see in fanart all the time
Can't think of anything, because I'm not stupid and I don't go look for fanart :'D I dunno, worst thing I'm seeing recently is Eggdad content.
16) you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
Why do you need Sonic and Shadow to be crybabies. Emotions aren't only expressed through tears. Don't blame SEGA for a perfectly normal writing choice. You don't need to shove angst up their asses to fulfill what's essentially your preference.
18) it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
KNUXAMY. THEY'RE SO CUTE. THEY HAVE LESS THAN 30 FICS ON AO3. WHY.
19) you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like...
Sonegg, except I've been liking it for so long that the shame has simply become resignation. I know why it's a common nOTP and I absolutely respect the people who think it's vomit-inducing, but I will defend it to my grave as being not as bad as commonly thought.
... does being an unironic ShTH enjoyer count, too?
20) part of canon you found tedious or boring
Frontiers. I swear that that story is completely useless, nothing happens except getting beaten over the face with pointless references and Ian Flynn self-sucking over how better he is than Pontaff, no I'm still not over "then I'm wildly inconsistent" :') and while '06's story is better because at least shit happens (until the game erases itself from existence), it's still a dull, boring, confusing mess to sit through, especially in English because they all sound bored out of their skull.
21) part of canon you think is overhyped
Frontiers :') at least, even though I don't like SA2, I can understand why it's so popular. I can even understand why people nowadays are warming up to '06. With the exception of some cute Sonic/Knuckles interactions, I can't find a thing to like about Frontiers' story.
22) your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
Some of the endings of ShTH, especially the Dark ones. I think they brim with potential :)
23) ship you've unwillingly come around to
Knuxamy. A friend of mine started shipping it, then I was sucked in. (it helps that Knuckles/Amy in SAd3 kicks ass :D) look, they're cute and they have a fun dynamic going on.
24) topic that brings up the most rancid discourse
WAAAAAAAAH WHY DO YOU WANT SONIC TO KILL VILLAINS????
shut up. shut your entire fuck up. i am so sick of this. it was never our argument. idw is the plague of the fandom.
25) common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing
MUH
MANDATES
no. You go and actually listen to Flynn's words. Even he's sick of this discourse. (also, yes he confirms that Shadow comes with many notes, but also dude just. doesn't understand him. "can you hear the fatigue in my voice" my entire ass)

Unpopular opinion, but I genuinely think that March of the Oni is one of the worst Ninjago seasons, (That is if you even count it as a season.) and it's all because of that last episode. The fact that the title is even "Endings" and yet is one of the worst season finales I've seen in this whole show just makes my blood boil.
Because when you think about it, this episode is supposed to act as the ending not only for itself and the two seasons before it, but the first ten seasons and the Wilfilm era as a whole. But, to me at least, it just feels like it dropped the ball. (If you wanna read my long ass rant, be my guest.)
The most egregious thing this episode does is what they did with Cole. Literally what was the reason for this fake out death if he's just gonna show up completely fine afterwards. And yes, I know that it sparked some of the most tear jerking moments in this show and furthered what Lloyd and Garmadon had going on, but doesn't that just make it worse that it feels like this whole thing went nowhere? And I don't want to hear anything like, "Well, bad and unexpected things happen in life all the time! It's just being realistic!" If this show was going for that type of realism everyone in the main cast should be dead by now. And I'm not saying that that's not a true statement about the world, but this is a lego ninja show aimed at eight year olds.
And then there's the second fake out death in this four episode season. And I'm also aware that the scene where Lloyd meets the FSM is cool. I also think that the scene is really cool! But my problem lies in the fact that Lloyd dying and then being fine minutes later doesn't serve anything. At least Cole falling caused some interesting scenes, but what happened to Lloyd doesn't cause anything! And yes, he met god, but then god told him that he won't remember any of this anyway. Oh well.
And then Garmadon just walks away??? Like, I get why HE would do that, but Wu just let's him leave????? Isn't this guy literally only the evil parts of who he was before? And not to mention that he forcibly became a dictator like three weeks ago.
And there's so many other things that piss me off, like how Kai has kind of a full circle moment with his smithing abilities, and as a longtime Kai fan I really like this idea! But then it was only a 20 second montage. Like, you aren't even going to give us a reason as to how he became so good at being a blacksmith that he can reforge the fucking GOLDEN WEAPONS? NO??? Ok then! *explodes with rage*
And my next complaint is moreso targeted at the whole season, but am I the only one who thinks that the Oni where really underwhelming? Like, these are supposed to be demons hellbent on the total destruction of the universe, but they're also the most forgettable villains in this entire show. The only reason why I even remember Omega's name is because that name in this context is kickass, but other than that he has nothing going for him. He's just here to destroy and kill everybody, that's it. What makes him and say, Kalmaar so different, is that Kalmaar has an actual personality. They have the same fundamental plan, but Kalmaar feels more like a classic disney villain while Omega is an extremely watered down version of the Christian take on Satan. This could've been the chance to make some absolutely epic lore about the Oni, where they've been, what they're like, or literally anything. But no, they're just here to kill.
And then they where defeated by the power of spinning really fast with your fam. The whole Tornado of Creation coming back just to serve as a callback and a convenient Oni killswitch has always bugged me. It just feels really cheap, especially with how everything faded to white and we didn't even get to see what actually happened.
But the real reason why I hate this final episode so damn much is that, I really liked the episodes before it! When it was coming out I thought that this would be really good, and I was legitimately excited to see how it ended! But then it crushed my dreams by having the worst ending possible and I haven't been able to trust since.
Okay, I think I'm done now, these aren't all of the reasons why I hate it so much, but I've rambled enough so I'm done.

Vesperass and I were discussing how unlike all the Darklina kisses the lukewarm M*lina kiss in the teaser not only lacked chemistry, but Alina's passionate response. Jessie said they wanted to show Alina felt comfortable with Aleksander and bold enough to make the first move and match his fire. I didn't see any of that with Mal, who was clearly the aggressor while Alina seemed to going through the motions at best. Also, Aleks talked to Alina as an Equal via the tether and not a "symbol."
(Book Spoilers)
I mean its such a short clip that its difficult to tell but I didn't get the impression it was overly passionate and those darklina kisses are hard to beat. But to be fair we don't yet know the context or whether that's the start of the kiss or the end etc. To be honest my general reaction to it was kind of meh, it was there. Like most of their scenes I just found it was bland, it didn't make much of an impression on me. What did strike me the most about the m*lina kiss though is that nobody seems that excited by it, I mean people aren't even really talking about it, I think I've seen 4-5 posts of someone being excited for it. Maybe I am wrong but I feel like if that had been a darklina kiss then there would have been alot of chatter in the tags about it. This lack of reaction to the kiss is a problem considering M*lina are supposed to be the main romance for the show, people should be excited to see a kiss in the trailer but M*lina just aren't that popular. They were instead overshadowed by the new characters and the six of crows. There seems to be alot of people who are worried about how they are going to work the SoC into the SaB plot with many who'd rather they just make a Six of Crows spin off. I don't want to be too negative but honestly it does make me a little worried because if they mess up things with the Six of Crows and you've got M*lina, an unpopular ship, as a main romance then people may just stop watching and if people stop watching then the show might face the netflix axe.
I've also got the feeling that the showrunners are aware that M*lina isn't very popular and are going to try and make them more popular by throwing in a load of kisses and even intimate moments between them, using this idea that sex sells to generate some excitement around the pairing. I could be wrong, but if I am right then I am not sure if that strategy would work, if people just don't find the couple interesting I don't think having them kiss a bunch is going to change that.
I do think the reaction to this season will also depend on how they deal with Aleks' character and darklina tether bonds as, whether people like it or not, they are one of (if not the) most popular characters/ships in the show. If they do make Aleks this 2d villain with nonsensical motivations then that's going to turn people off too. As a side note I did see a couple of posts wondering if the kiss might actually be the scene where the darkling disguises himself and kisses Alina but in all honesty I hope not. That scene was such a mess and if they keep it then it'll be a complete contradiction to what they set up in season 1 of Aleks asking for and caring about consent. Personally I hope they just leave that scene out all together. I also hope that they don't cut back on the tether bond scenes and they do make it clear that it works when they both are thinking of the other and want to see each other. I am just hoping that they don't totally ruin everything.
But only time will tell I mean this is going off of 30 secs worth of footage, we could get a really great season with lots of great darklina moments, good character development and exciting six of crows moments, with everyone working seamlessly together.

001 castlevania, of course
Favorite character: Alucard, as everyone is probably aware of already
Least Favorite character: Dmitrii sucks. hate that dude
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): DEAR LORD THE SHIPPING QUESTIONS ARE GONNA BE HARD. I BARELY SHIP ANYTHING. but anyways the only two Castlevania ships I really care about are Juste/Maxim and Jonathan/Charlotte. I'm pretty neutral about most of the others
Character I find most attractive: oh Alucard for sure
Character I would marry: I am very much aroace but Alucard my beloved. or Richter
Character I would be best friends with: honestly probably Maria, Richter or Soma. it's pretty close lol
a random thought: I wonder if Alucard has to get people to invite him into their homes or if his human half negates that strange weakness. like imagine how annoying that would be
An unpopular opinion: Harmony of Dissonance is leagues better than Circle of the Moon. also red Simon is so much cooler than blonde Simon
My Canon OTP: FUCK. UH. Hector/Julia has potential I guess??? idk man I don't really care about the canon ships in these games akfbsjf
My Non-canon OTP: belschine real
Most Badass Character: obligatory Alucard answer
Most Epic Villain: Dracula probably. I do like Death as well though!
Pairing I am not a fan of: any ship involving Alucard. I've gone over why before but yeah they personally aren't really my thing ajhfdj. I also don't like any obviously problematic/toxic dynamics but I don't really think I should have to say that lol
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): stares at how Netflixvania portrayed the CV3/CoD characters. asides from that though I HATE how that radio drama portrayed Alucard, Maria and Richter. they all sucked, especially Alucard. I doubt NoR is canon due to all the plotholes, the fact that Iga didn't work on it and it's never been mentioned in the official timeline but still ajfhskfhh yeah that thing was kinda garbage
Favourite Friendship: Arikado and Soma. I like found parent-child dynamics a lot and theirs has always been super interesting to me
Character I most identify with: definitely Soma. I do identify with Alucard a lot as well though (they're my two favourite characters so this really shouldn't be surprising lol)
Character I wish I could be: I MEAN. CONSIDERING WHAT SOME OF THESE GUYS GO THROUGH I WOULDN'T WANT TO BE ANY OF THEM but I guess Alucard. cause he has cool powers and I like his clothes

[Pictured: a trans man with pale skin, short, light brown hair, and clusters of red marks on his skin. He is wearing an olive green tank top and a pair of black corded necklaces. He is smiling at the camera in the first image. The following six images are close ups of various areas around the sides of his face, neck, shoulders, chest, and back, bringing attention to many more red marks.]
It's July 1st, 2019(technically it's the 1nd now, but I'm considering this the first) and there's 3 months between now and dermatillomania awareness day/the start of BFRB awareness week.
Today I feel like sharing my current marks, scabs, and scars caused by my picking.
Many of them are sore and uncomfortable, and even the ones that aren't do get in the way of some clothing and activities like shaving. They also make me feel uncomfortable and ashamed about going outside or being seen by most people.
I've been struggling with this since I was in middle school: around two decades now. For a while, I was able to concentrate much of my compulsion to pick on inanimate objects like blankets or clothes, but that made a horrible mess and damaged those items, which can be expensive or impossible to replace. (I actually had the blanket picking behaviour before I started on my skin, and got in trouble for it often for making a mess or ruining special blankets.)
When I started developing acne, I already had internalized the shame and disgust for it that is commonplace in our society. I understood that people were supposed to pop pimples and blackheads, so I started doing that. And then I couldn't stop.
I hated it, and it hurt, and I was so ashamed of my scars and sores. It only made the acne worse, of course, so it only made me more ashamed of that too, but I HAD to keep doing it.
I tried so many times to stop. I still do. It's worse when I've just cut my nails. I usually let them get too long(which leads to accidental more injuries to myself and others, heightened dysphoria, and of course is not very hygienic in general) because I am afraid of the picking I'll do as soon as I trim them.
When they're short, the picking is more satisfying. I can feel what I'm doing better. It's disgusting. Even when I notice I'm doing it, I can't get myself to just stop by willpower.
To me, it feels like a form of self harm at times. I've had people dismiss that analysis. I'd like to do so myself, but I know there are times when I use it as punishment, or as a means of dealing with emotional numbness.
It's not the only reason I do it, but it is a factor.
I'm ashamed and weary of doing this. I'm worried I'll wind up with a dangerous infection one day from an open sore. I'm irritated with myself and impatient to stop.
I don't really have a positive message to add here. I wish I did. I think that's my hope for this post:
Maybe in 3 months, I can look back on this post and see an improvement. Maybe next year, I'll have been more successful at curbing the behaviour and recovering. Maybe I'll be free of this by the time I'm 30.
Maybe, maybe, maybe.
Why do people tell children to hate their acne? That they're ugly and disgusting for having it? It makes them unpopular and they should bend over backwards to be rid of it?
It's been 20 years and I'm still damaging my body and hating myself because millions of people convinced me as a child that I had to hate that part of myself and no one would love me or find me desirable or attractive if I had acne.
I know that's not true. I have friends and a husband who love me and remind me that I'm not ugly and disgusting to look at. My smile makes them smile. My skin is still soft to the touch in most places and I give good hugs. My husband wants me and I like most of my selfies. I feel mostly good about my appearance!
But I still hate my acne. I still have to pick, as much as I hate it. I still can't leave a pimple or blackhead alone.
I still hurt myself when I notice them, for various reasons, and can't stop. Sometimes someone has to physically move my hands away from the spot I'm picking.
Maybe I would have started doing this regardless of societal shit regarding acne, maybe not. But telling children to hate their skin, for any reason(and there are so many reasons given), will NEVER be okay. It will never result in anything but pain and self loathing, and it will make the kids lucky enough to have "perfect", smooth, pale skin grow into the sorts of people that ostracize kids with "undesirable" skin.
It's a vicious cycle and it NEEDS to be broken. Stop making children ashamed of themselves. Stop telling children to shame each other.
I'm lucky enough to have soft, pale skin, even if it's riddled with acne, scars, and angry, fresh, red marks. I know it would have been so much worse to grow up with acne and darker skin. I know how much more kids with dark skin have to struggle to be respected and accepted, especially when their skin is also too oily, too dry, not smooth enough, too hairy, or, yes, broken out in acne. I didn't have to face as much ridicule about my skin as other kids, as other teens, as other adults.
And I can only imagine and sympathize and urge people to please think of these kids.
Stop hurting children with these standards. Stop encouraging people to hurt themselves.
We should be able to look in the mirror and love the person we see! That's us! We are worthy of love and we have no reason to be ashamed! I hope we all get to feel that way one day.
When that day comes, I hope it lasts the rest of our lives.
