First Line Tag Game - Tagged by @zartophski
Rules: share the first lines of ten of your most recent fanfics and tag ten people. If you have written less than ten, don’t be shy and share anyway.
10. From the Elements We Came, To the Elements We Return: Earth was the first to be returned, just as it had been the first to be found.
9. I Want to Resurrect Whoever Made This Dungeon So I Can Kill Them Myself: "Is this normal for dungeons?"
8. Four's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day: Today was supposed to be a simple, uneventful day.
7. The Full-Metal Hero: To say that the chain had no idea where they were was an understatement.
6. We'll Make a Pirate Out of You Yet: Twelve bottles stand evenly spaced out on a fence post.
5. Beware the Jesters of Nightmare: "Beware the Jesters of Nightmare."
4. A Talk in the Border Between Worlds: Vegeta wasn’t too sure what had just happened.
3. The Claaaw: “Come on Legend!”
2. A Day with Our Daughters: "Come on now?"
1, We Shall Rise Again: Imagine the seedier sort of "gentlemen's" club, where men--who are no gentlemen but like to consider themselves a cut above the rabble--meet to discuss the deeds that make them no gentlemen.
No pressure tags (sorry if you've been tagged already for this game): @gpow13 @nowhere-to-go-but-down @jeru-skyrider @mlnovaoff @lessinkmoregraphite @Nebulapaws @wayward-lotus @floor-tiles @telemna-hyelle @rijurambles

That's Gonna Leave a Mark
Whumptober Day 13: "This is gonna suck"/burns/cauterization
I know this is super late, but I finally killed writers block last night when the hate club started being mean to Warriors and talking about disarming him.
Well guys, here's the fic for your idea!
@telemna-hyelle pretty sure you were part of that discussion?
_____________________________________________________________
Link was missing.
Because Link was a stupid idiot that did stupid things like going missing. Linkle was going to kick his ass. But first, she was going to make sure that a monster hadn’t beaten her to it.
The battlefield was littered with the fallen corpses of Cia’s monsters, still fading away into black dust as the treacherous soldiers’ blood stained the ground. She winced as she dared past them, carefully avoiding looking at their faces. Some of those men were Link’s friends, people he’d trusted and teased and gone drinking with. Some of them had been the one’s he’d nearly died for, some had once nearly died for him, but now they were dead, perhaps by her brother’s blade, because they’d chosen to turn against Hyrule and the Queen.
Link wasn’t gonna be in a good place when she found him, would he? Maybe she’d hold off on the ass-kicking until he wasn’t likely to be kicking it himself for killing those that he loved.
Mentally, she made a note to drag her twin over to Grandfather’s cottage by the sea when the war was over and make him rest, he needed it. He would also need one of Gramp’s hugs, to be folded up in burly arms and pressed close to a curly beard that smelled of salt and tobacco and home until he didn’t have to think about blood and steel and screams of pain, just sea shanties and Granny’s sea stew and a warm mug of mulled ale.
First though, she needed to find him.
It took her longer than she’d though it would, and when she at last stumbled over towards her brother lay, it was to see his boys standing close by with twin stares of horror on their faces; even Mask looked terrified, something she’d never seen before in her life, even though the kid had once watched a man bleed to his death, choking on his blood the whole time. Mask hadn’t minded that, had only sighed and averted his eyes with a bitter shake of the head. But now, the kid was outright panicking as Link stammered out broken reassurances.
“What on Din’s green-”
Two sets of blue eyes turned to stare at her, but Link’s gaze remained fixe on his arm. Her brother’s arm was slashed near the wrist, black goo bubbling up from the injury and pushing blood out with it as purplish veins kept slowly but steadily up the twitching limb, Link wincing back tears and holding the damaged limb with faint sobs shaking his voice.
His scarf was trailing in the dirt. This was bad.
Link’s scarf was his pride and joy, his symbol to his men ad to Hyrule, if it was dirtied then something was horribly wrong. Not that the jagged black veins trailing up his arm and tinging his fingers black didn’t tell her that. Or he claws that had formed on the tips of his fingers.
“What happened?”
“He was hit by one of those-” Tune’s face twitched oddly as he winced. “One of Cia’s corrupted soldiers. The guy’s blade was covered in black stuff.”
“It’s poison.” Mask murmured, twisting one end of her brother’s scarf between his fingers, but cutting off the circulation didn’t do any good and it just keeps spreading.” Tearful blue eyes, so much like her brother’s, only a shade darker, stared up at her with actual tears as Mask whimpered. “What do we do?”
And what could they do? There was nothing they knew of that could counteract the poison, and if cutting the circulation off didn’t help any....
“Lana!” Tune shouted, clearly not for the first time as his voice croaked out the words. “Please! Link needs help!”
“I don’t-”
She was cut off by the voice of the Time Guardian herself, faint but there as something white glistened through the clouds of dust and smoke that still rolled over the battlefield. A blue head appeared amidst the grime, purple bow still set and perfect and clothes hardly touched by the grime. Linkle grit her teeth.
“What’s- Link!” Lana was already kneeling at his side, glimmering eyes already traveling over her twin’s frame as the other girl whimpered something horrified and tearful. “Malice, he’s- Oh Hylia above-”
“What do we do?” Mask demanded; eyes puffy but face set in a scowl as he looked over at the guardian. “How do we help him?”
Lana’s blue and purple eyes wouldn’t meet any of their gazes. “There isn’t anything we can do. It[s an infection that Cia invented. We’ve seen it on a few other soldiers and-”
“It corrupts.” Link wheezed, eyes full of pain as they meet his kid’s worried gaze. “You have to go, Mask, you too, Tune. It works fast and-augh!” A full body wince took over and her brother clenched his teeth, black surging up and the infected limb twitching as it’s hand flexed its claws. “Either kills body or soul. I won’t be me, get-”
“We can stop it.” Lana murmured softly. “But-”
“But what!” Mask demanded.
The time guardian sighed, grasping the damaged limb and biting her lip. “We’d have to remove the infected limb, and it would hurt, a lot.”
“Can’t be any worse than this- augh!” Link’s eyes glared with pain as he curled into himself. “Just do it! I don’t- Can’t-” A harsh keen of pain escaped him as his shoulders trembled, face paling as the veins of black surged up again, twisting up past the hem of his torn sleeve.
“Very well.” Lana nodded gaze pained as it turned to her. “Linkle, do you have fire arrows in your quiver? We’ll need to cauterize the wound to prevent excess bleeding before we can get him back to camp.”
She was already fumbling for her quiver the moment it was mentioned, whipping out two arrows and offering them to the flinching bluette.
“We’ll- we need to work together. Mask, hold his other hand, Tune, cradle his head. Link, put your scarf in your teeth, you’ll need something to bite down on.” The three boys shifted at the instructions, and Lana turned to stare at her evenly. “We’ll have to work together to burn the arm off, quickly, before the infection reaches any further.”
There wasn’t time to hesitate, even as her heart jumped in her chest, so she simply nodded, pushing up Link’s sleeve and measuring up two inches from where the veins had already reached. If they worked fast, the infection wouldn’t get there before-
Bile bubbled in her throat as she realizes just what she was doing, but link’s pained whimpers had her jumping to task, pressing the red-hot arrow against the selected area, biting back a sob of her own at the muffled shout that could be heard past Link’s tattered scarf.
Twin trails of smoke rose into the air along with the scent of burning meat a pale flesh bubbled and blistered before her eyes, turning black and horridly stiff as the sharpened head of the arrow tug deeper, leaving behind burnt flesh as it pressed closer and cloer to the bone, finally hitting against ivory as bile rose in her throat. Lana’s dress was already damp and covered with the remains of their breakfast this morning as the girl kept her head turned away, the guardian’s arrow still pressed close to the injury until only glimmering white remained to connect the infected limb to her brother’s body.
“We’re going to have to break it.” Mask murmured, cold and monotone as the id steeped forwards. He didn’t even ask one of them to try, just took his sword and swing it with the full force of his small body.
The crack that rang over the field was sickening, and the final straw to send her bending over to the side, vomit coating the detached and twitching limb that was now blacked fully.
When she rose again, it was to see Tune cradling her brother’s head to his chest, Link’s eyes having fallen closed, face pale and breath shallow as Mask sheathed his sword. Crystal tears ran down a stony face as the smallest of their group gathered up bloodstained blue fabric in his hands, gently pulling it loose from Link’s teeth as Lana gagged again.
“We should get back to camp. The healers can help him there.”
She could only nod dumbly at the child’s words. It was times like these where she could almost imagine the kid was the adult he claimed to be, and she gathered Link up in her arms with all the care that their mother once had, letting Mas and Tune cling to his scarf like vices as they trailed after her.
Link was lighter than normal.
She gagged again.
