🏎️💨 THE FORMULA 1 TAG GAME! 🏎️💨: tagged by @avida-heidia-5, thank you!!
(this has been in my drafts since January and I had completely forgotten to post it, so I'm going to fix that immediately. I am so sorry this took forever!)
1. Who or what got you into F1?
My Dad. The best memories I have of my Dad are watching F1 races together when I was growing up. idk how long he'd been an F1 fan by the time I was born, but I still have a very old Ferrari hat of his.
2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?
As a kid Michael because of my Dad (according to my Gran when I really really little I used to run around going "vroom vroom Schumacher!"). When I got back into watching F1 in 2013 I supported Jenson and Seb, and I still do! They're very much my beloveds.
3. Who’s your current favourite F1 driver?
Lewis!
4. Is there a driver pairing or pairings you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?
the dream teams of Seb, Britta and Antti & Lewis and Bono. I am a sucker for colleagues turned besties.
And as for teammates, Lewis and Jenson are my favourites. I frequently go onto YouTube and look up old McLaren promo videos because they're just hilarious in the best way (also shoutout to Series 1 of Tooned, I still have it on DVD!).
5. Do your parents, siblings or relatives have a favourite team and/or favourite driver(s)?
Nope, I'm the only F1 fan in my family. My parents (Mum and Step-Dad) have the odd opinion on some drivers but as a whole they're very unbothered 😅
6. Do you have any favourite races? Are there any that stand out to you the most?
I have so many for various different reasons. Silverstone 2014 & 2018 because I was there. India 2013 and Singapore 2019 for Seb reasons, Hungary 2019 and Turkey 2020 for Lewis reasons. Hungary 2021 for the whole of lap 1 and also for Seb reasons. Bahrain 2014 also sticks out because it was such a good race long battle between Nico and Lewis.
7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.
Silverstone and Marina Bay (Singapore)
8. Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.
As mentioned above I have been ridiculously lucky to go to the British GP twice in 2014 and 2018. The first time my parents organised it and the second time was via coach trip (which honestly I would recommend, it took out a lot of the stress in terms of getting to the track).
Obviously it's been a while but both years were absolutely amazing. Silverstone is a brilliant circuit both in terms of spectator facilities and seating options (idk if they still have it, but for our weekend tickets we had roving grandstand seats for the Saturday which meant we could sit in different parts of the track for FP3 and Quali - Luffield and Village are great spots!).
The atmosphere at the track is also just incredible, even during a practice session. They also open the Porsche experience centre and have cars on display (including cars that have won Le Mans!!)
I did post some pictures at the time from both trips under the Silverstone 2014 and Silverstone 2018 tags and I'm happy to post more if people want!
9. Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?
I have not but I know someone who has 😅
10. Do you have a favourite F1 car? If so, what is it?
I have a colossal soft spot for the Brawn GP BGP001, she will always be famous 🤍💛
11. Do you have a favourite one win wonder?
Esteban Ocon purely for everything that was Hungary 2021.
12. Do you have any favourite quotes from the F1 world? This can either be inspirational or hilarious.
Lewis' post-race radio from Turkey 2020 and a (very) long list of Seb quotes

Watch: NIGHTWISH's FLOOR JANSEN Performs In Amsterdam As Support Act For METALLICA
Tumblr media
NIGHTWISH singer Floor Jansen performed earlier today (Saturday, April 29) at the Johan Cruijf Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands as the support act for METALLICA. She was the last-minute replacement for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, which canceled its appearance because the band's singer Ivan Moody is recovering from a recent surgery to correct an acute hernia injury.
Fan-filmed video of Floor's performance can be seen below.
Jansen's debut solo album, "Paragon", arrived on March 24. The LP showcases the Dutch-born singer's impressive vocal range and powerful voice on a diverse collection of pop-infused tracks and emotional ballads influenced by the sounds of her career.
With its mix of influences and powerful vocal performances, "Paragon" is an album that will appeal to fans of pop music and metal alike.
As part of NIGHTWISH, Jansen has landed two number one albums in Finland, and Top Five albums in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
Born in the Netherlands, Jansen joined her first band, one of the world's first symphonic metal bands, AFTER FOREVER, when she was only 16 years old. The group went on to release five albums from 2000 to 2007, before they broke up in 2009.
Jansen's next band, REVAMP, released two albums in 2010 and 2013, before she joined NIGHTWISH as a full-time member. NIGHTWISH's first album with Jansen as the lead singer was 2015's "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", which landed in Top 10s around the world. This was followed by 2020's "Human. :II: Nature." , which was also an international success.
Jansen has toured extensively with the band and appeared on three of NIGHTWISH's live albums "Showtime, Storytime", "Vehicle Of Spirit" and "Decades: Live In Buenos Aires".
In 2019, Jansen participated in the popular Dutch TV show "Beste Zangers" where she scored a big hit with "Phantom Of The Opera" together with Henk Poort. She was recognized with a Dutch Popprijs award — a prestigious accolade for artists that has made important contributions to Dutch music. In the same year, her first solo tour sold out in less than 24 hours.
Jansen performed live with NIGHTWISH for the first time on October 1, 2012 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington following the abrupt departure of the band's lead singer of five years, Anette Olzon. Jansen officially joined NIGHTWISH in 2013.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen will have five-place grid penalty for Belgium GP
Verstappen has won nine of the 11 races so far in 2023 Red Bull's Max Verstappen will have a five-place grid penalty for the Belgian Grand Prix as a result of using too many gearbox parts. The punishment will apply for Sunday's grand prix and not Saturday's 'sprint'. The penalty has not been officially confirmed, but BBC Sport has verified it with senior figures in Red Bull. Such is the performance of Verstappen in the Red Bull that the penalty is unlikely to impact his chances of winning the race at Spa-Francorchamps. The Dutchman, who is leading the championship by 110 points after winning nine of the 11 races so far in 2023, is on a run of seven consecutive grand prix victories, two short of the all-time record in a season set by Sebastian Vettel for Red Bull in 2013. And at last weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix, Red Bull won their 12th consecutive Formula 1 championship race, breaking a record held by McLaren since 1988. Although the penalty will mean Verstappen will start behind at least five other cars, he won last year's Belgian Grand Prix from 14th on the grid in arguably the most dominant performance since the start of F1's new regulations introduced in 2022. McLaren's Lando Norris, who finished second to Verstappen in Hungary on Sunday, said on Thursday's media day before the penalty became apparent: "Even if they started last in every race, they're going to come through [the field]." Teams are limited to four each of a prescribed number of gearbox components in F1. Verstappen has taken his fifth of at least one of the components. It was not immediately apparent which part had caused the problem. via BBC Sport - Formula 1 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/

FLOOR JANSEN Celebrates Tenth Anniversary Of Her First Concert With NIGHTWISH
Tumblr media
Floor Jansen celebrated the tenth anniversary of her first show as the singer of NIGHTWISH on Saturday, October 1.
Jansen made her live debut as the frontwoman of NIGHTWISH on October 1, 2012 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington following the abrupt departure of the band's lead singer of five years, Anette Olzon. Jansen officially joined NIGHTWISH in 2013.
On Saturday, Floor took to her Twitter to share a few photos of her time with NIGHTWISH, and she included the following caption: "Today it is exactly 10 years ago that I joined @NightwishBand on stage! I can't believe how fast the time has traveled since that first show USA! I am deeply grateful for all these years and want to thank the band and our crew for everything, and of course our dearest fans!"
NIGHTWISH also sent out a tweet in recognition of the anniversary, writing: "10 years and counting. On this day, ten years ago, @FloorJansen_ performed with us for the first time. For this occasion we share with you a live video of us performing Storytime over all these years, starting at our first show together."
One day after her first concert with NIGHTWISH, Floor gave an interview to the "Giel Beelen" show on the Dutch radio station 3FM in which she revealed that she was originally asked to join the band for their dates in November 2012, December 2012 and January 2013 but that plans changed following Olzon's exit in the middle of the group's North American tour.
"[On September 29, 2012] I got a text message saying, 'How fast can you come to the USA?'" Jansen recalled. "So I packed everything as quickly as I could and booked a ticket for the first plane and practiced the songs. They had already previously asked me to join them on the road for the dates in November, December and January, [so] I had been preparing for it a little bit for only one week. And since those plans changed [over the weekend], I ended up only having a few days to get ready and a rehearsal of two hours with [the songs'] lyrics in front of me."
Olzon joined NIGHTWISH in 2007 as the replacement for Tarja Turunen after the latter was fired in 2005.
As part of NIGHTWISH, Jansen landed two number one albums in Finland, and Top Five albums in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.
Born in the Netherlands, Jansen joined her first band, one of the world's first symphonic metal bands, AFTER FOREVER, when she was only 16 years old. The group went on to release five albums from 2000 to 2007, before they broke up in 2009.

Jon Dolan of Rolling Stone felt that it " the hunger and confusion that make great coming-of-age pop." Writing for AllMusic, Heather Phares considered the track to be a standout from Bangerz.
#Wrecking ball blogo how to
Although he found the song "predictable," Evan Sawdey of PopMatters gave it an overall positive review and complimented its production and the build up to its chorus, calling it "the kind of broad mainstream song that shows how you how to properly build up to a chorus before hitting us over the head with it. Club, Marah Eakin provided a favorable review, calling it a "solid ballad" and describing it as "a modern day ' My Heart Will Go On' that discussed a deteriorated, shortlived young romance." Kitty Empire from The Observer opined that "the heartbreak section of Bangerz mostly repays your attention" and mentioned "Wrecking Ball" to be a part of it. "Wrecking Ball" received mostly positive reviews from music critics. Cyrus said that "Wrecking Ball" was inspired by " OneRepublic, and the way Timbaland used to do those big ballads." Critical reception BMiriam Coleman of Rolling Stone noted that it begins with a minimalist keyboard instrumentation, which puts emphasis on Cyrus "anguished vocals", and also described it as a "heartbroken counterpoint" to "We Can't Stop". Cyrus' vocals span from the low note of F 3 to the high note of B ♭ 4. The track is written in the key of D minor and follows the chord progression Dm–F–C–Gm, but the chorus is in F major. "Wrecking Ball" is a pop ballad According to the sheet music published at by Kobalt Music Publishing America, it is set in common time with a tempo of 60 beats per minute. Problems playing this file? See media help. Cyrus performed "Wrecking Ball" during several live performances, including the iHeartRadio Music Festival, an episode of Saturday Night Live and the "TikTok Tailgate" before Super Bowl LV. Adding to the video's success, Cyrus won the award for World's Best Video at the 2014 World Music Awards in Monte Carlo. At the 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards, Cyrus took home the award for Best Video and the award for Video of the Year at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards. "Wrecking Ball" previously held the Vevo record for the most views in the first 24 hours after its release with 19.3 million views. Critics were divided in their opinions of the music video, feeling that it was more provocative than the clip for her previous single " We Can't Stop". It features close-up scenes of Cyrus tearfully singing, reminiscent of the clip for " Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinéad O'Connor, interspersed with footage of a nude Cyrus swinging on a wrecking ball. Īn accompanying music video for "Wrecking Ball" was released on September 9, 2013.
#Wrecking ball blogo crack
It is Cyrus' only song to crack the Billboard Decade-End, doing so at number 99. Outside of the United States, "Wrecking Ball" topped the charts in Canada, Hungary, Israel, Lebanon, Spain, and the United Kingdom, and peaked within the top ten of the charts throughout much of continental Europe and Oceania. As of January 2014, "Wrecking Ball" has sold three million copies in the United States. Nine weeks later, the track returned to number one, and consequently had the largest gap between number-one sittings in Billboard Hot 100 history within a single chart run. "Wrecking Ball" debuted at number fifty on the Billboard Hot 100, and subsequently became Cyrus' first number-one song on the chart after the release of its controversial music video it retained the peak position during the following week. "Wrecking Ball" is a pop ballad which lyrically discusses the deterioration of a relationship. Luke and Cirkut, who also served as the producers, credited as co-writers along with David Kim. The song was written by Mozella, Stephan Moccio, Sacha Skarbek, with Dr. It was released on August 25, 2013, by RCA Records as the album's second single. " Wrecking Ball" is a song recorded by American singer Miley Cyrus for her fourth studio album, Bangerz (2013).

UN chief: World is at `pivotal moment’ (AP) U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres issued a dire warning that the world is moving in the wrong direction and faces “a pivotal moment” where continuing business as usual could lead to a breakdown of global order and a future of perpetual crisis. Changing course could signal a breakthrough to a greener and safer future, he said. The U.N. chief said the world’s nations and people must reverse today’s dangerous trends and choose “the breakthrough scenario.” The world is under “enormous stress” on almost every front, he said, and the COVID-19 pandemic was a wake-up call demonstrating the failure of nations to come together and take joint decisions to help all people in the face of a global life-threatening emergency. Guterres said this “paralysis” extends far beyond COVID-19 to the failures to tackle the climate crisis and “our suicidal war on nature and the collapse of biodiversity,” the “unchecked inequality” undermining the cohesion of societies, and technology’s advances “without guard rails to protect us from its unforeseen consequences.” In other signs of a more chaotic and insecure world, he pointed to rising poverty, hunger and gender inequality after decades of decline, the extreme risk to human life and the planet from nuclear war and a climate breakdown, and the inequality, discrimination and injustice bringing people into the streets to protest.
World marks 20th anniversary of 9/11 (AP) The world solemnly marked the 20th anniversary of 9/11 on Saturday, remembering the dead, invoking the heroes and taking stock of the aftermath just weeks after the bloody end of the Afghanistan war that was launched in response to the terror attacks. Victims’ relatives and four U.S. presidents paid respects at the sites where hijacked planes killed nearly 3,000 people in the deadliest act of terrorism on American soil. Others gathered for observances from Portland, Maine, to Guam, or for volunteer projects on what has become a day of service in the U.S. Foreign leaders expressed sympathy over an attack that happened in the U.S. but claimed victims from more than 90 countries.
Phony diagnoses are hiding high rates of drugging at nursing homes (NYT) The risks to patients treated with antipsychotics—which understaffed nursing homes have often used as “chemical straitjackets”—are so high that nursing homes must report to the government how many of their residents are on these potent medications. But there is an important caveat: The government doesn’t publicly divulge the use of antipsychotics given to residents with schizophrenia or two other conditions. A Times investigation found a pattern of questionable schizophrenia diagnoses nationwide. The result: The government and the industry are obscuring the true rate of antipsychotic drug use on vulnerable residents. The share of residents with a schizophrenia diagnosis has increased to 11 percent from less than 7 percent since 2012. At least 21 percent of nursing home residents are on antipsychotic drugs.
Tropical Storm Nicholas forms in Gulf of Mexico (AP) Tropical Storm Nicholas strengthened as it headed for the Gulf Coast on Sunday, threatening heavy rain and floods in coastal areas of Texas, Mexico and Louisiana. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami said tropical storm warnings were issued for coastal Texas and the northeast coast of Mexico. Nicholas is expected to produce total rainfall of 5 to 10 inches (13 to 25 centimeters), with isolated maximum amounts of 15 inches, across portions of coastal Texas into southwest Louisiana on Sunday through midweek. The storm was expected to bring the heaviest rainfall west of where Hurricane Ida slammed into Louisiana two weeks ago.
Britain decides against vaccine passports (AP) Britain’s health secretary said Sunday that authorities have decided not to require vaccine passports for entry into nightclubs and other crowded events in England, reversing course amid opposition from some of the Conservative government’s supporters in Parliament. Sajid Javid said the government has shelved the idea of vaccine passports for now but could reconsider the decision if COVID-19 cases rise exponentially once again. The U-turn came just days after the government’s vaccines minister and the culture secretary suggested that vaccine passports would still be necessary, despite growing opposition from lawmakers. Such passports are required in other European countries, like France. Members of the governing Conservative Party have objected to such passports as an unacceptable burden on businesses and an infringement on residents’ human rights.
Thousands of Catalans rally for independence in Barcelona (Reuters) Thousands of Catalans chanted, sang and waved flags as they marched through Barcelona on Saturday, calling for the region’s independence from Spain. The march, organised by the grassroots Assemblea Nacional Catalana ANC, was the first since Spain’s government pardoned nine Catalan separatist leaders who had been jailed for their role in a 2017 botched bid for independence, which was Spain’s biggest political crisis in decades. Most marchers wore face coverings. Police said about 108,000 people took part. ANC put the figure close to 400,000. The protests took place at a moment of lower tension between Barcelona and Madrid than in past years as the central and regional governments favour dialogue despite their opposing views on independence.
In Hungary, pope meets PM Orban, his political opposite (Reuters) Pope Francis arrived in Hungary early on Sunday, starting an unusually short stay that underlines differences with his political opposite, nationalist and anti-immigrant Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Francis, 84, who is spending only seven hours in the capital Budapest, went directly from the airport to a private meeting with Orban and President Janos Ader in the Museum of Fine Arts. Unlike nearly every other papal trip, there was no live television coverage of the preliminary greetings or the photo opportunities that usually precede and follow such meetings. The pope is making the brief Budapest stop to say a Mass closing an international Roman Catholic meeting, known as an International Eucharist Congress. On Sunday afternoon he moves on to Slovakia, where he will stay much longer, visiting four cities before returning to Rome on Wednesday.
Nine-cent taxi rides in rural South Korea are a “godsend.” (NYT) In 2013, Seocheon County faced a crisis. As its population declined, so did the number of bus passengers, which led to unprofitable routes being canceled, stranding those in remote hamlets who did not own cars. The county’s solution? The 100-won taxi. (Longer routes cost 1,500 won, or about $1.30.) Anyone whose hamlet is more than 2,300 feet from a bus stop can call one, and the county picks up the rest of the fare. The taxis carried nearly 40,000 passengers last year, which cost the county $147,000. Since the 100-won taxi was introduced, people in remote villages have traveled outside twice as often, according to a government survey. More than 2.7 million passengers used similar taxi services in rural South Korea last year.
Strong typhoon cuts power, causes flooding in northern Philippines (Reuters) Several communities remain flooded and without power after a strong typhoon battered the Philippines’ northernmost islands, the authorities said on Sunday, displacing thousands of people. Typhoon Chanthu, which at one point was categorised by the Philippine weather bureau as a category 5 storm, has weakened after powering into the northernmost region, including the Batanes island group, on Saturday, the weather bureau said. “It’s one of the strongest typhoons I’ve felt,” said Dennis Ballesteros Valdez, a resident of Sabtang town in the province of Batanes, which is often pummelled by powerful typhoons. Some 20 typhoons hit the Philippines on average each year, according to the weather authorities.
Taliban flag rises over seat of power on fateful anniversary (AP) The Taliban raised their flag over the Afghan presidential palace Saturday, a spokesman said, as the U.S. and the world marked the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. The white banner, emblazoned with a Quranic verse, was hoisted by Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the prime minister of the Taliban interim government, in a low-key ceremony. In a tweet, Afghanistan’s first president to follow the 2001 collapse of the Taliban, Hamid Karzai, called for “peace and stability” and expressed the hope that the new caretaker Cabinet that included no women and no non-Taliban would become an “inclusive government that can be the real face of the whole Afghanistan.”
Death and suffering in Iraq a painful legacy of 9/11 attacks (AP) Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. But the terrorist attacks in the United States changed forever the lives of Iraqis. In their aftermath, the U.S. invaded Afghanistan, swiftly deposing the Taliban regime that had been sheltering Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al-Qaida terror network blamed for the attacks. But it was not long before President George W. Bush shifted his attention to Iraq, identifying it, along with Iran and North Korea, as part of an “axis of evil” and asserting that its brutal dictator, Saddam Hussein, was armed with weapons of mass destruction and had ties to al-Qaida. No evidence of either was found. What followed was a U.S.-led invasion of a country in the heart of the Middle East that spurred a decade of war, with consequences that reverberate across the region to this day. After decades of conflict, Iraq today has a relatively stable government, and the car bombings, suicide attacks and death squads have subsided. But the economy is in tatters, its infrastructure is crumbling and corruption is rampant. The government, with its fractious politics, is unable to control the dozens of powerful Iran-backed militias that wield enormous control.

Horner hails 'outstanding' Verstappen as Dutchman prepares for first opportunity to claim 2022 title in Singapore
Christian Horner has called Max Verstappen “outstanding”, the Red Bull Team Principal pointing out a number of impressive drives by the championship leader in 2022 ahead of his first opportunity to clinch his second title in the Singapore Grand Prix. In order to clinch the championship in Singapore, Verstappen – who qualified eighth on Saturday – needs to finish first, or take P1 with the fastest lap bonus point, and hope that results for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and team mate Sergio Perez swing his way. Team boss Horner not only sang the praises of his star driver, but the whole Red Bull squad after they bounced back from a point-less season opener in Bahrain to win 12 Grands Prix. READ MORE: Leclerc claims pole position by 0.022s from Perez in stunning wet-dry Singapore qualifying as Verstappen takes P8 “I think Max has been truly outstanding this year, after what was an epic championship last year,” began Horner. “I think achieving that first World Championship, he’s just made another step again this year. “The team have done an incredible job, transferring late to the 2022 design to turn up with a competitive car – arguably not as competitive as Ferrari at the start of the season. Of course, initial issues in Bahrain and Australia put us on the back foot, but nobody lost their focus, nobody lost the focus on the objective in hand, and I think just the way Max has driven, some of the drives have been simply outstanding this year,” he said. “Under enormous pressure, he’s just constantly delivered. To be here with 12 victories for the team, 11 for Max, plus two Sprint race victories, it’s an outstanding season, and one that he’s just grabbed every single opportunity and as a team we’ve been effective, we’ve been operationally together – strategically we’ve been sharp – and we’ve delivered.” With 11 victories for Verstappen – two off the record of 13 wins in a season set by Michael Schumacher in 2004 and matched by Sebastian Vettel in 2013 – Horner was asked to name some of the Dutchman’s stand-out drives. “Well, it’s been such a long year, you struggle to think back, there’s been so many,” he replied. “I mean, Saudi was hugely impressive; Imola, he was truly dominant, winning both Sprint and Grand Prix; Azerbaijan, again, truly dominant; Canada, under huge pressure; Miami, after the pressure with the Safety Car and the faster Ferrari behind him; the starts from down the grid in Hungary; the win in Spa; the win in Zandvoort under the most acute pressure. “Where do you want me to stop? Almost every drive he’s put in this year has been absolutely outstanding.” READ MORE: ‘It’s incredibly frustrating’ – Verstappen rues aborted final lap after going ‘2.7 seconds’ quicker The Red Bull Team Principal did, however, say that his outfit were not focusing on securing the title in Singapore, where Verstappen will start eighth after qualifying frustration. “Of course, mathematically he does have a chance this weekend; the probability is unlikely and to be honest with you we’re putting that at the back of our mind because we’re treating this weekend like every other where you attack the event, you just focus on the event individually and then the championship tables, they tend to take care of themselves – but an outstanding season so far by Max,” concluded Horner.
